welcome to Denton Texas home of the north Texas meem green and the fans have been waiting since early this morning for The Clash we have in store today a couple of teams getting set to square off in an AC battle as we'll see a team fresh and ready to go off of by week the Florida state seals taking on the number one team in the land the north Texas me green for EA Sports college football by priest Davis joined here in the booth by David Po and Jesse Palmer and guys let's get this thing started [Applause] North Texas will kick it off to get this game underway looking for blockers and the coverage team able to wrestle him down so the Florida state seals offense will have the first possession of the game and here's the man they rally around and he has earned that type of respect David you dang right you earn it by doing it done it at such a high level everyone believes in this young man in Palmer there's a reason why you're right David he's been in the big moments and he's one of the big games this guy delivers when the game is on the line you want to get the crowd out of the game make it boring pound the football run the football right at them it takes it takes the juice away it takes that sauce away you don't get to those third down situations where they get absolutely Bonkers and it's hard for the quarterback to even think just run the football right out got on first down now looking at a second and two keeping it on the ground with the single back still on his feet at the 45 bul dozes him that is exactly what you want to do with the football he's got it all the way down to the 15 yd line the seols will line it up on First and 10 they're looking for an advantage to the right we'll give him a couple on that one second Eight coming up going to work in the Red Zone they can't pick up the first down without getting it into the end zone he'll do it himself got some room Ed to the goal line and he rolls into the house State I definitely like being the quarterback coach of this guy cuz he makes me look good I mean he makes me defend the whole field as a defense and all the weapons and all the options and then he can do that he can take it himself glide into the end zone and get six he'll bring it back from inside five really disciplined job by the coverage unit to get down there and make the stop at the 19 so the north Texas mean green sends out the offense and they'll go on the attack for the first time when you have a weapon like this on the outside and a guy in the secondary whose job is to take everything away it's going to be a great matchup guys so fun to see how you attack great safeties in the middle of the field are you willing to do that or you going to try to live on the perimeter this offensive match up would be great yeah normally you'd say receiver versus safety the receiver's going to win this safety though got the speed to run with this guy he's going to make it interesting back there pretty good effort on that one to work his way up to the 42 8yd pickup on first down leaves him with second and short from the gun the G looking for room and he gets it to the 45 yd line and that'll be a first down I love when players understand situations and they understand where the first down marker is and they understand where I got to get to a lot of people you'll see run north south and try to bounce out wide and make big plays sometimes it's not about making big plays sometimes it's about getting that first down to make sure I get an extra set of downs instead of trying to make those big touchdown and a good job of coverage by that defense just a short pick up this is a very tough slot receiver to cover if you're a linebacker because of how quick and how Shifty he is you never seem to know which way he's going and he always seems to create an open space for his QB and they'll stop him after a minimal pick up offense breaks the Huddle it's third down now on the option he's knocked down in the back field he'll lose a couple facing so on their first drive of the game they're going to roll the dice a little bit and go for it on fourth down in their own territory and they gambled in their own end turn it over on downs and now the other offens is set up offense set on first down quickly complete this quarterback right now is in a Groove he's doing a nice job in PR he's reading the coverage and he's getting an idea of where he wants to go with the football that's why the ball's coming out of his hands so quickly that's why he seems like he's in a great with just a solid stop by this sophomore here on third down for this offense they'll try to run for it crosses the he's got away they are on the move as they pick up the first down they'll spot it at the 28 here's this offense with a fresh set of downs they'll try the [Applause] run an excellent Vision to find Running Room there and make a really good pick up before the defense put a stop to it the NOS are marching down the field looking to pass inside the Red Zone he's got it on the Move can't quite cross the plane to get the six but they'll have the first down the offense threatening posted the end zone now with a new set of downs on the ground they bring him down and he's going to lose a yard on that one and the D Deni him on second and goal just nothing doing on that last run and they knew coming into this one they were going to be challenged right this is one of the best defenses in all of college football for them to have any shot they're going to have to do a lot better running the football and after getting it right on the edge they'll try to punch it in on third down they'll try to pound their way in Into The End Zone he goes touchdown and I love it I love the physicality of this offense it's third and goal I trust my offensive line to pave the way give the ball to my running back and know he's going to phally punch this thing into the end zone here he comes with return he only needs a sliver of daylight what a great return and he flips the field to start this drive off and he just about scored himself it is so good to have a dangerous return man wants to throw on first down off the play fake well the quarterback can make a big play when he starts moving around from the comfort of the pocket he fires it to the right and it slips through his fingers incomplete that would have been a huge gain if he could have squeezed it now on second down after the incompletion a little screen to the running back they make the stop but not before the screen has hit him for a first down and much more really good execution by this offense as they get to snap it just about to reach the end of the quarter they make the Stop and that will likely bring us to the end of the first quarter quickly to the tight end and that defense pushing him out of bounds after a short game that's the end of the quarter and Florida state has the lead and that was an impressive and dominant first quarter let's take a look at the stats before we move on [Applause] now the challenge here they've taken a punch but they can't let it get out of hand as we start the second lining up to convert third down from the gun wants to pass finds the tight end working their way closer and closer a third down conversion and they've got it at the 26 they pick up the first down on the drag route I know that seems like a simple route but it's actually a lot more complex than what it looks like because that route changes based on whether it's man or Zone if it's man coverage he's flying across the field if it's Zone he's got to sit down over the ball and a soft spot giving his quarterback a place to go with it nice job of those guys being on the same page there he CAU it they will score touchdown Ming green fining up to add another and the P will draw them one point closer so that's 6 y touchdown drive one score game still the first half and they want the ball right back going for the onside kick he's able to grab the football and the hands team gets the job done we're only in the first half and I don't think anybody had onsite kick in the second quarter on their bingo card they were trying to catch the opponent off guard but it didn't work now let's find out what this offense can do you've got to make them pay for gambling through his hands and incomplete he normally makes that catch every time it's second down couldn't make the connection last time let's see if they throw it again they'll ride Davis here just couldn't get away from the tackle well they want to come out and try to get the Run game established but up front defensively they made a play they gave up nothing on that one got to find some breathing room if you're going to establish yourself on the ground and there wasn't any that time yeah ree I wonder now if this offense is maybe going to try to get to the perimeter of the field and see if they can use their speed to hurt this defense it's so nice when you know it's third and long you know a pass is coming you worked on it all week get your feet set at the sticks understand that quarterback's got to be rushed get him off of his spot nice execution by this defense and the ball will bounce at the four and find its way into the end zone for a Touchback North Texas sends the offense back onto the field that last drive an absolute aerial assault for the touchdown Jesse it was a nice job in play calling too David just giving the quarterback some easy looks and reads so he could go out and and he knew exactly where to go with the football everything looked really really easy he was hot the ball was coming out of his hands the defense better do something different it's complete to the right really nice job there by both guys the throw and the catch to work that defense and get the first down and now a fresh set of downs for this offense the give to the tail back he's knocked down in the back field he'll lose a couple and when you play defensive end it's all about getting off the football you can tell gets off the football really fast Gets In The Back Field gets the running back before he knows what hit him what a play by the defensive end after losing a couple on that last play here's second and 12 using the quick game finally run out of bounds but he has this offense rolling with a first down already moved the chains a couple of times on this drive now out close to [Applause] Midfield he's going to pass they're setting up the screen not able to break the big one on that screen to the running back but he found enough and a solid pick up on first down second and very short here for the offense the to the back and the defense finally makes the stop after the sweet run and good game with the weapons this offense has you knew it was just a matter of time in the Run game before someone was going to break a long one they' just been running into a wall they just couldn't seem to find their creases and get enough movement up front but they finally got it there picking up the first let's see what happens next touchdown North Texas and they put that scoreboard operator to work and put six on the board and the extra point splits the upright and for a quick update let's go to Kevin Conor in the studio fellas I think at least a portion of your audience will have an interest in the one that just finished up Oklahoma State looked like a serious force in what can only be described as a dominant win this is a program with a case full of trophies and they might just add some more hard this year is out it's one game you don't want to react too much either way but I think both teams will leave this one with some things to work on moving forward and Kevin Conor's keeping an eye on everything all over the country sounds like they had a good one there we'll take a quick break as we have reached the final two minutes of the first half looking to throw it's Glenn firing to the right complete still running at the 40 he will step out of bounds but not before the big pick up and a first down for this offense looking to move it through the air that's caught it's Gibson makes the catch and he's brought down quick Tempo no huddle off and second down CLX running he's looking to throw gets rid of it just a short pass to the tight end and that defense doesn't a cut back and they get him out of bounds after a short game you know David this is really what game managing is nice pick up on second down to help them on the next play yeah I think people look at that negative sometimes finding a quarterback that's a game manager no use your brain set up good situations I'm I'm way more successful when I can keep those sticks at a more manageable situation and I'm not as predictable on a third down snares it outside it's Gibson he's R out of bounds but he's got enough to move the sticks and the simal come to the line with a new set of downs back to the air one more time quickly out to the tight end you know I know it seems like an easy pitch and catch but for the tight end there that route potentially changes if it's man covered so good job by him knowing it zone I'm just going to sit down this is basically like a check down right let's just take the easy pitch and catch and keep this drive going on First and 10 trying to strike from the they're looking to pass from the Red Zone and it's caught touchdown no and I just love the execution by this offense late in the half man you want to take the lead you want to get that momentum on your side and they do it they finish it with the passing game I tell you what eat that passing game up you can keep this lead keep the momentum and keep putting up numbers from inside his own and he'll try to help out their field position and he did a good job bobbing and weaving and finding a little bit of Running Room on that return North Texas takes possession the mean green offense will return to the field these two defenses have had their head spinning here in the first half and now we might even see a little more scoring with this drive it's going back and forth this is like two heavyweights just trading blows David what is this defense got to do to get a stop here I tell you what man when you're giving up points like this and you've got no momentum you got to find somebody that can make a play to create something and listen if you're if they're scoring anyways let's be aggressive let's Blitz more let's let's make sure we're making them feel discomfort in some way shape it's so important this offense is able to get this guy the ball in space especially in the perimeter of the field and I love that last play call because he's able to get outside and use his speed to me that's where this guy is most dangerous going to try to pop one on the screen didn't have much room to run not a whole lot of help short gain there and still plenty of ground to cover for the first down a timeout is called as this offense tries to find a way to get more points on the board before the half trying to get a rhythm in the passing game now on second down wide receiver shows motion wants to throw on second down using the back as a receiver on the screen and they wrap him up but not before he gets off on the catch for the first down they'll use a timeout right before half maybe time for one or two more plays time dwindling away as they try to put points on the board right before the [Applause] half he wants to throw quarterback now breaking the field reels it in in the end zone down [Applause] M you know sometimes as a play call you just don't have to overthink things I've got a guy who's faster than your guys and he's just going to run straight down the field I'm going to throw it way down the field he's going to make the catch and we're going to score a touchdown and that's pretty much what just happened there and it'll come out to the 25 no attempt at a return it's first down but the offense is just going to take a knee and go to the locker room [Applause] that's the end of the second quarter that means it's time to join Kevin and our halim update guys who's had a better seat there in Denton than you have for what's been a fun first half an entertaining first half and we've got a multi- possession lead to break down thanks to the surgical Precision of this offense might honestly take more time to talk about what didn't work than what did the running game the passing game Gadget plays have worked now it's just a matter of finishing the job and with that let's send it back to the guys at lovely d q Stadium we're all locked up here in the third quarter as he set to kick it away [Applause] fielded In The End Zone it's Bradford not a lot of space to be found good Hustle by the coverage team and they stop him at the 21 North Texas sends the offense back onto the field first drive of the second half always fun to watch you see what type of tweaks were made at the half especially when you're locked up in a ball game like this one yeah and it's been a good game I mean it's been a little bit of back and forth process and now want you get into the second half who's going to get aggressive Palmer who's going to take some shots try to make some plays and really go for it yeah it's interesting I think as play callers right now you learn a lot about these coaching staffs with respect to who does make the best adjustments there's a lot of coaches that believe we're just going to be who we are we're going to keep doing what we do we're just going to do it better but then there are others that tweak things a little bit on offense and on defense we're going to find out here and a nice job by the running back finding space getting downhill making the good run great job finishing with his [Applause] pads he'll ride his man on the option he'll pitch it and they'll ride him down but before he picked up the first down and how about the timing on that pitch looks as if we have an injury on that last play and we'll take a break to check him out north Texas has it going to work with another first down they go to the ground cre good effort on that one to work his way up to the 42 coaches always harp about staying ahead of the chains and when you can run with that type of efficiency on first down man you are doing just that oh it's loose and the defense jumps on it they get that turnover first down here for the offense he's looking to throw it good job running that route to get past the sticks because he got nothing after the catch they've got it inside the 30 at the 28 first down used the play fake now to throw coming after it and this sophomore able to wreak some havoc and get the sack offensive line has got to do a better job communicating they got to do a better job fre snap seeing where this pressure is coming from that DB was essentially telegraphing his Blitz and nobody picked off drives ahead for three to the 27 yd line third and long coming from the 27 yd line you can make a field goal from here just don't take a negative play didn't have much of a choice just had to throw that one away it'll be fourth down here comes the field goal unit as they'll try to take the three and they'll kick it from the left side a 44 yd try it's good and now they regain the lead after putting three on the board the kickoff unit ready to go and three more on the board and this kicker is starting to get a reputation starting off the season has it Miss yet nice to have a guy that you can really really depend North Texas takes possession the mean green offense will return to the field and the fumble on that last Drive could have been much worse David they they bailed him out they held him to a field goal so that's the good news now this offense has to get it going forget about the fumble Jesse move on be positive and they're upset with themselves too they're an offense that tied themselves on ball security let's see what they do right here they'll rip off that play it's second and two and that play is essentially like a jet sweep right this offense is going to run the football conventionally they'll do it between the tackles they'll do it outside but there's a lot of different creative ways they can get their Playmakers the football in the running game and I think that was an example of what you saw right there that'll move the chains it'll be a first down for North Texas all right nothing flashy there he just did what it took to get the first down now on First and 10 from the [Music] [Applause] receivers telling the quarterback what they see back open in the middle and they knock him down but he got past the line the game would they go for a big play on First and 10 [Applause] used the play fake now to throw it's complete on the right side he's right out of bounds but a big play on that one and it'll be a first down here's this offense with a fresh set of [Applause] downs wants to throw on first down fires to the big fella just what they were looking for and he's got him set up in business at the 35 with a first down here's this offense with a fresh set of downs fires to the big fella open space at the 25 he knew exactly where he wanted to go with that one and they've got enough for the first down so difficult cuz my eyes tell me he's a defensive guy he's handing it off the offensive Line's blocking run I got to go get it quarterback pulls it throws it to the right it's kind of like that hidden hat game like where's the ball I'm always trying to find that thing defense there to stop him after a pick up of two down to the 15 now on second down he's looking to throw got out of trouble got rid of it CAU on the outside it's manor Man one of the reasons this guy's dangerous is cuz if things get off schedule he can still hurt you there was no Panic right he's not just going to take off and go running he kept his Focus downfield spotted an open guy and man delivered a strike to the ground to try to pick up the first russle to the ground after picking up the first down on the doorstep of cashing it in for the offense looking to throw quarterback moving and they're able to force him out of bounds after a short pickup that's the end of the quarter and Florida state has the lead let's take a quick look at the national rankings to see how this playoff race is shaping up not only is a scoreboard on their side but so too is time as we open the fourth [Music] [Applause] they'll try to open this quarter by sticking it in the end zone [Music] here quarterback touch pass on the Jet Sweep touchdown North Texas and with that they move out front here in the fourth you know quarterbacks and receivers they develop confidence and chemistry as the game goes on these right now are definitely on the same page curious call here as they line up for an onside kick with the lead and a one possession game in the fourth well here in the fourth quarter they were obviously expecting onside kick they got their hands team on the field they're able to jump on the ball and make sure they get possession the give to Davis they'll pick up four second and Six coming it's just so nice to know you can start off on first down with positive plays positive yards hand ball off set up a good second down he's got his man across the 25 he's got room touchdown Florida State and they grab the advantage taking the lead here in the yeah and a nice job in the fourth quarter making plays and a nice job being on the same page QB receiver you could tell he broke with the football he caught it in stride gets into the end zone nice pitch and catch right there nice Chemistry by the QB and wide receiver here's the return from inside his 10 and the returner will be brought down North Texas sends the offense back onto the field man what a drive last time for the touchdown that passing attack was Lethal David and you know you hear all these stupid commentators like me and Jesse talking about create balance to run and pass no when you throw that spin the ball around so the defense has to find a way to affect the quarterback on this drive because last drive he had way too much time to throw he's going to pass on second down the short hands it's I man they stop him almost immediately short gain there and still a little ground cover pick up the first wide out in motion on Third and short they'll try to convert through the air grab near the sticks it's I Manor and he'll move his way forward to the first down they'll mark it at the 35 we asked earlier this week who's your favorite receiver and of course he said the open one but we know who he really wants to go to on third down the best one I mean I think the open one obviously the politically correct answer but you want to find the guy that you got that great Ki and he holds it inside the 30 touchdown me green and they've moved out front here in the fourth quarterbacks love receivers that can get separation but that amount of Separation uh is a little excess I agree Rees and I think the defense needs to have a little powwow on the sidelines and talk about what just happened because that was an absolute busted coverage on the back end defense can't keep playing like that and returner will be dragged down the SE have it back they'll try to get that offensive spear flaming the give to the back LS his way ahead for three out to the 27 yd line after the three yd pickup they come to the line second and seven looking for a man it's Glenn and that's going to be incomplete a lot of contact on the play but no Flags it'll be third down if they can convert here that type of play can really give you a shot of momentum fires to the tight end and that defense is there to guide him out of bounds after a short gain and the NS line up to punt it away this will be the second time they've had to kick it [Applause] away he'll wave for the fair Catch and haul it in at the 25 so we'll see this offense make its way out to start the [Applause] drive the option look now the pitch a collision and he stopped at the 27 after picking up one I know exactly what I have to do here defensively you got to the stop so we're playing run we're selling out to run because we're thinking they're going to run the football and we got three timeouts let's use them wisely let's use those timeouts save as much clock as we can so our offense has some time on the clock and do some damage when they get the football back they'll throw it to the back on the screen and he was just a couple of steps away from taking that one even further after the catch North Texas has it going to work with another first down wide receiver coming across in motion touch pass on the right he is stopped behind the line of scrimmage they'll lose yards on that one great heads up awareness by the cornerback on that play he saw the receiver get the ball he shot downhill and made a nice tackle they're trying to get to it grabbed in the middle it's EV and they reacted well to the completion but it was too late to keep them from getting the first down we reached two-minute warning in this offense trying to milk this clock and keep time on their [Applause] side he want that clock to run quick timeout called by the defense stopping the clock to save as much time as possible for their offense you got to believe they just want to run it take care of the football and keep that caught moving being on second and nine that pass is incomplete and they're probably fortunate that it wasn't knock free for a fumble and finally the defense is able to get some pressure on this quarterback they had been trying all game long different ways to affect him weren't able to get there but on that play because of the pressure it affected his accuracy and that's why the ball Falls incomplete on Third and long try to convert through the air right on target this time defense uses out quickly trying to get that ball back and preserve time for their offense running to the left at the 20 he's got space so close to that end zone he could almost taste it but it'll be first and goal for this offense time out called there by the defense desperate to get the ball back and save as much time as possible the clock and the scoreboard on their side as they come to the line first and goal fast motion from the offense quarterback Quick Pass to the receiver and they just tried to slam it in from the doorstep but they went nowhere and it'll be mared down at the one really good job by the defense seeing it and going and getting it nice job understanding the touch pass it could happen those guys go in motion man I got to understand safety's got to see that start flying down getting ready to play that nice job by the defense being ready for that play here Comes and he takes it in for the score touchdown North Tex the lead gets bigger here in the fourth quarter and their run continues about to go eight and0 and let's check in with Kevin Conor in the studio Kevin two very different emotions inside the locker rooms of these teams who did battle today SMU roll to Victory today in a game where they not only capitalized on opportunities they created and that's the way this coach wants them to play every week a lot to go through in the film session this week for both teams but boy it sure is going to be easier for the side that came away with the win Kevin thanks a lot for that one sounds as if they had a good one there catch in the middle it's Gibson ripping off a pretty good chunk of yardage they've got it out to the 41 with a first down he's going to pass and they got him for the sack they'll try to kick it into overdrive clocks running second down [Applause] coming back to throw it's Glenn just missed on the connection incomplete this is a third and Long Easy looking down field and he needs a bunch couldn't find a man just had to throw it away to avoid a negative play and now such a tough situation late in this game your Trail but now it's Fourth and long like it's one thing if it's Fourth and short this makes it even more difficult you got to have something dialed up you into traffic it's picked off and they'll drag him down after a good return on the intercep a veteran in this defense stay blocked in on his rules and made the interception and that's a really good job by the defense understanding the situation of football it's fourth down it's late in the game you got a multi possession lead take away all the Deep stuff make him Force the football into coverage they do and they stamp this game tremendous awareness along the sideline and the ability to get the foot down for the big pickup it's first down from the 11 they'll run the option he'll toss it that one did not go well tackled in the back field for a loss of six timeout called by the offense 24 seconds left on the clock as they come to the line on second down ordinarily you might go up top but they need to keep this one on the ground keep that clock winding he's looking to throw [Applause] gets it into the end zone but there's a flag down we'll see if this one is coming [Applause] back they'll take the touchdown off the board a costly offensive pass interference penalty remember both guys have a right to fight for the [Applause] ball looking to throw on second down he'll take a shot he snares it in the end zone touchdown me green they're on the board again and it looks as if this winning streak is going to continue and now with the extra point they're up by 18 here in the fourth after scoring that touchdown they'll try to get it right back with an onside kick and this is why you put your hands team on the field most of the time when you know it's coming and you put those guys that are great catches the football first guys what do they do they go block they go blow somebody up the next guys catch the football secure it get your butt on the ground and most of the time when you do this the ball game is over and a little too much adrenaline on that throw never gave his receiver a chance and after this play the cake will be [Applause] baked looking to pass it's Glenn and the ball comes out what a disastrous play how in the world did the retain possession timeout is called with just two seconds left to go on Third and long doesn't need to take the check down and he intercepts it and with that turnover that'll finish the game off [Applause] defense and you got to focus right the first thing you're looking at as a defensive lineman the first thing you understand is the ball starts with a snap I I have to line up see the ball when the ball moves I move I know it's simple but you and they got him didn't have much of a chance on that one and a fitting way to put a Capper on this game plenty of fireworks in this one a lot of points they always talk about having the chalk last and it seemed like whoever was on offense had the last lap that's amazing how much offenses have just boomed in college football so good so many ways to hurt you and you saw both these off has put on the show today Jess Dave we talked to both of these coaching staffs and their defensive coordinators were losing sleep all week they knew this was going to be a tough task ahead of us so much speed so much Firepower on both of these offenses and man we saw that here today that's going to do it for us for Jesse Palmer David Pollock our entire broadcast team I'm reys Davis this
