welcome everyone to the home of the Charlotte 49ers Jerry Richardson stadium and the fans have been filling this one up in anticipation of this Clash we believe we've got a great one in store today and when you got a team that makes it into the top 25 now when you go on the road that's when you prove you belong as we'll see the number 18 team in the country the Old Miss Rebels taking on a team from the AAC the Charlotte 49ers for EA Sports college football I ree Davis David poock and Jesse Palmer with me guys it's time to get it going the 49ers will put toe Lea and we'll get started on the move from inside is five he'll step out of Bounds at the 16 and leave his offense with a long field in front the rebels offense is on the field for the first first time today and here he comes a man who epitomizes the phrase the tight end's always open David yes he is Reese and it's so cool the tight end position now has evolved so much you can move him all over the field and you can really highlight a guy of his ability too big for safeties to cover and too fast for linebackers to cover this is a weapon they got to take advantage of sometimes people say if you're good enough what's a big deal about going on the road but if you're not careful you might find out in a spot like this one guys yeah no doubt about it this is a hostile environment and you know you're going to be getting the opponent's aame for this one they've circled this one all off seon so they better be ready to bring it today David and the hardest thing to do in college football is to go on the road everything about it changes and you want to shut this crowd up early you don't want to give them belief because if it starts to build throughout the game look out to the ground with the back and they'll finally get him down after a terrific pick up I think it's really important for this offense they get this guy going early in the game and they're doing a nice job of that right now remember he's the kind of running back who gets better as the game goes on that's a really good omen for this offense considering his success now early continuing to turn and move it forward and they're closing in on Midfield it's down at the 48 nice run there on first down you know this is a running back that gets better as the game goes on they're going to want to make sure they keep feeding him the football let him get laded up they'll leave it with him and he found plenty of Running Room on that one before the defense was finally able to get him down he's up to 41 yds rushing for him now what a drive to kick off the new season they're going to ride this running back just what this off was looking for sets him up at the 26 with the first down this defense is going to have to do a better job slowing down the Run we've seen twice now in this opening drive this guy break one and so this defense has to do a better job at the point of attack and their de coordinator probably is already thinking to himself why have to get another guy in the Box to slow this guy down listen you got to be able to know what play to call and what hole to go through like the line blocks for a certain hole good job getting through the hole getting what was blocked getting a nice positive game making your situation really good on the next down wide out in motion touch pass on the Rock got some room headed to the goal line he's run out of bounds after the big gain and they are in business first and goal and I love right out of the gate this offense is going to be creative and they're going to try to get their best players the football out in the open field you saw it right there they'll go with a direct SN into the end zone he goes touchdown Rebels they draw First Blood and that is exactly what you want to open the season with a drive like that and with the extra point they get the first seven of the game almost ready to kick it away after scoring the [Applause] touchdown here's the return from inside is nice job executing all of the assignments as they put a stop to that return at the 22 so Charlotte's offense will get the ball for the first time and there's no doubt guys we will be focused on these two star Playmakers on the outside I'm curious to see how much man coverage we're going to see today I don't know if either of these defenses is confident enough to go mono imano with these two dudes on the field they're two of the best in the nation these cornerbacks aren't looking for manto man coverage I can promise you that like give me some help over here but we're going to see some split screens and we're going to see who had more catches who had more yards we're definitely going to be breaking that down this game he stopped after picking up one to the 23 one of the big story lines coming into this year was the rising temperature of the coach's seek and the process of cooling things off starts now all off season this coach has said the right things I'm not worried about it I'm not focused on it I'm just worried about our team but David let's be real he's got to win games there is an expectation at this program to win and if he doesn't start fast this year that hot seat's only going to get hot no and then the chirping starts and everybody's going to be talking about his job the pressure builds and then then what happens sometimes you lose the locker room so important to get off to a good start try to quiet some of those haters and some of those doubters here they come trying to convert a third and short from the 28 Brown wants to pass and he intercepts it going the other way and he's got room and he will roll into the end zone touchdown all miss miss and with the extra point they pushed the lead out a little further they're about to kick it away and the defense probably can't wait to get back out there after the pick six from inside the 10 here he comes able to find enough room to get it out across the 25 he's brought down at the 26 Charlotte has the ball back the 49ers offense will return to the field to say this has been a slow start is a bit of an understatement and they really need to get it going here Jesse that's right the opponent they're firing on all cylinders right out of the gate offensively for this unit they've been slow and struggling they need an explosive play to wake themselves up yeah and it's just the first qu so it's not the end of the world you've seen slow starts but you got to continue to pick and pick and pick until you find that play or or that scheme that you can use against this defense and he goes out of bounds after coming up with positive yardage there trying to move the sticks on third [Applause] down they'll try to get it through the air quick completion on the out all right they got the completion don't get the first down so we've got a massive decision now fourth in inches personally I like QB sneak I think that picks it up right here no matter where you are in the field you can keep this drive going he'll get it to about the 25 before they put a stop to the return y offense ready to go back to work how about that blocking up front in that running game last time as they just walked it down for a touchdown D and the big boys up front doing their job opening holes The Backs making plays everything on the ground on that first drive worked and we know that this is the identity this coaching staff wants for this team right they want to be the most physical team on the field let's see if they can keep it up hit hard just as he released it on first down and just couldn't get it to the receiver last incompletion leaves him still sitting at their own 25 with second and 10 he's looking to throw right on target this time and he'll get it up to the 38 it'll be a first down a new set of downs after the completion from the gun they'll try to impose their running game they bring him down and he's going to lose a yard on that one lost one on that last one it's second and 11 he's looking to throw finds a s spot in the middle and how about that catch and run so dangerous this guy the rebels have their offense in high gear got it behind the line it's Lee during the week you got to talk to your for quarterback what do you like what's your favorite safest routes easiest reads love coming out with those early with a short passing game the receivers telling the quarterback what they see pulls and fires complete crosses the 30 got away he's run out of bounds but not before turning in a big pick up and moving the sticks for a first down we've come to the end of the period and Old Miss is on top they came out and jumped on them early in the first let's take a break and look at the first quarter stats they'll break the seal on this quarter here on first down out of the shotgun they go to to the ground finds a little bit of room give him a couple down to the 23 picked up two yards on that last one they need eight on second down he's got it on the right and just a short safe pass play they pick up a few great play by the cornerback he was just way too physical at the point of attack he beat his man trying to block him and he tackled that receiver on score quick pass on the fly motion nice move to keep moving he's brought down but he's got him inside the 10 first and goal from the eighth so so close to cashing it in for this offense they'll try to get it in with the Run heas drop behind the line of scrimmage that'll be a loss of three don't you love energetic defenses that fly around and make things happen the ones that get in the back field the running back tries to go somewhere where do you want him to go there there is nowhere to go nice job by the defense and he rolls into the house touchdown Rebels yeah and now this offense building that lead it's still the first half but I tell you what shown some glimpses of why they could become a really really good offense listen you go into halftime more of the same right continue to do what you're doing take care of the football this offense has looked really good in the first half he'll start the return inside his five and the returner goes down Charlotte will send the offense back onto the field they're down by 21 points but you got a touchdown here and you do at least apply a little game pressure Jesse it's true I think for them to get back in this one at this point now they need the quarterback to play his best football he's going to to be good really pre- snap they been making sure they're in the right looks and he's got to be really good with his decision making he's got to be dowed in because defensively you're giving up points so it's not like you have the luxury of your defense playing great the offense is going to have to score and score pretty dang quickly here on third down will they go back to the running game Brown will throw it got his man down the middle and the 49ers get the first down here's this offense with a fresh set of downs we asked earlier this week who's your favorite receiver and of course he said the open one but we know who he really wants to go to on third down the best one I mean I think the opening one obviously the complely correct answer but you want to find the guy that you got that great chemistry with you know exactly where he's going to be you got that Bond and that trust looking to pass on second down Zing it complete to the right and there were no creases or crevices to run through and they shove him out of bounds bells and whistles have got to be going off in this quarterback's head now it's third and long so you know you're expecting pressure you got to know where your hot routes are you got to be able to read the coverage and make sure you get the he tosses one high and deep down the left side fires and picked off takes it the other way at the 30 he's at the 10 he'll go out of Bounds at the four yd line and he almost had a pick six about the only good thing that happened for the offense on that play at least it wasn't a pick six what a return yeah that didn't look good for the offense you know all those Big Fellas those old linemen they're not going to PS it in in the end zone touchdown oh miss they'll try to add another to their lead the kick is up and good and put one more on the lead about to kick it off after punching it in for the touchdown on the run from inside his own five able to find enough room to get it out across the 25 he's brought down at the 26 Charlotte has the ball back the 49ers offense will return to the field mistakes are going to happen as they did on that last drive now how will they respond Jesse and this is the kind of guy who's going to take full accountability that was my bad that's on me I'm about to lead this offense now down the field and score some points dang Palmer I wish I would have played with you I didn't play with many quarterbacks that were just like yeah my bad hey guys I got this sorry about that it was more should have a better route as a tight end if you're going to be good in the passing game you've got to be able to feel the windows when defenses Play Zone coverage and he did a really good job of that right there he didn't rush he didn't hurry he took his time found the soft spot gave his quarterback an easy place to throw the football they'll ride the running back and leave it with him makes the stop at the 49 but not before he gets him plus territory gets 15 and a first down you got to feel good for this kid too he worked so hard this past offseason to put himself in position to be the starting running back and he's got a lot of skill guys he's got speed open field running ability I think he's going to be a big part of the offense this season we've made our way to the two at warning and now they'll try to at least cut a little something off of this lead before the break they'll have it at the 49 just across Midfield first and 10 Brown wants to pass finds a man on the right and he's knocked down immediately but not before he moves the chain the 49ers are in the hurry upotte he wants to throw looking to the big tight end working the middle and he almost ran away from everybody on that one a huge pick up on that play and a really good job by the quarterback being very decisive he saw his matchup he went for it he attacked it got the positive gain I would say he's going to find that guy a few more times today not the most productive half for this offense so far but finally starting to get it in gear first and 10 and it's picked off for the third time today he'll try to take it back he's at the 40 the 20 he's at the 10 and he is taking it all the way back touchdown Rebels look I know it's only the second quarter but we're starting to see a pretty significant Gap developed between these two teams right now no doubt when your defense is scoring your offense is scoring good things happening for your ball Club this defense on point reading their Scouting Report making big plays they'll kick it off and send that defense right back out there to try to score again after the pick six and he takes this from inside the five and they'll bring him down to get the offense started on the next drive and now the offense will come onto the field again boy they've been caught in a buzz saw here in the first half but maybe a chance to carry some momentum into the break here it all comes down to this drive right here Reese obviously this offense hasn't holds it in on the left a huge gain on that one before he ran out of bounds and he has the first down and you just could not allow that to happen defensively giving up a big play like that they're going to need to now play with some sense of urgency if they're not going to give up any points here before the end of the half that big play is just what they needed now they have it first and 10 just outside the 40 Brown will throw it or did he find a hole in that secondary and the defense couldn't Coral him and he took it all the way touchdown Charlotte man nice job getting the passing game going this is big man going to the half and listen I know you're trailing but building some momentum maybe this second half we can keep airing the football out cutting into this deficit and who knows what the heck will happen did make that extra point no issue with the treacherous footing lining up to cover the kick after that touchdown drive here he comes from inside his own five he had visions of Glory on that return but he'll step out of Bounds at the 29 Miss ready to send the offense onto the field they've been outstanding here in this first half might as well try for The Knockout Punch David yeah confidence has to be in an alltime high great first half I'm going to get more Palmer I'm not scared with the lead when I got the football lead yeah if it ain't broke don't fix it you can see the quarterback's body oh look out inside the T touchdown oh miss he broke away from the defense and they couldn't catch it man how hard is it to defend when you have a weapon like this and running back that can play wide receiver you can design ways to get the football in his hand once you get in his hands he'll do the rest yeah no doubt I mean and often times those are easier throws for quarterbacks and these running backs they're just naturally so good when they have the football out in space their Vision their creativity their ability to make people miss and this guy shows you right there a difficult difficult guy to stop now if you're this defense moving forward Charlotte will send the offense back onto the field so late in the half this is really an opportunity David maybe to swing the momentum in their favor dang right there's no time to be conservative we're a little bit down listen I just think this is a point with the offense that they can prove like we're here we're going to create something now that we can build on in the second half coach said all week he wanted to be aggressive this is a great opportunity to show that right now at the end of the first half try and generate some momentum score some points before going into halftime oh and he gets down field for the Big Catch and he was Off to the Races finally tipped up at the 36 a time out is called as this offense tries to find a way to get more points on the board before the half I don't think that's the way they drew it up incomplete this offense just has to find a way to find a rhythm here they're playing at home and they want this crowd to stay involved and be an asset in the game but they need to start making plays they can't keep throwing incompletions this early oh man the Big Fellas they usually have the soft hands your security blanket is your tight end but that one hit him in the hands and he just he just couldn't pull it in on third down going up top he'll bow it down open space over 25 and he Scoops his way to the first down and then slides to avoid the [Applause] hitte they've marched to the Red Zone and here they go throws to the wide out got it and he will score touchdown 49ers one of the reasons this offense is so exciting to watch they've got guys that are dangerous after the catch and if this quarterback gets through his progression David he hits you in stride these guys will take it to man it's your job to do the rest right you hit me in stride where I don't have to stop running I don't have to break down it makes it so easy the connection between quarterback wide receiver you can tell this is a good one and that's why they got six on that play So here comes the kickoff after the touchdown and the last thing you need right before the half is to give up a big return he'll bring it out it's Clement sometimes you just have to take the touch back they get him down at the four yd line just a few seconds remaining here as they try to put something up before halftime a little pre- snap eye candy for the defense makes the pass connection to the right finally run out of bounds but he has this offense rolling with a first down well ree you and I were talking about this before the game how is this defense going to be able to deal with all the speed they have offensively you saw them just rip off a big play and Jesse now their head's spinning just a little bit give up a big chunk play and it's right back at him tip ball put it up for grabs and I thought he had it but somehow it slithered through his fingers just enough time to get off one final play of the half on second down they'll take to the air going for the big play grabs it inside the 15 and he ran away from the defense to take it in touchdown Rebels and and I love this offense man staying aggressive just because you got the lead you know people can score points in bunches this offense keeps the foot on the accelerator scores again on the final play now this offense has even more of a cushion going into halftime and he made the extra point without problem first half in the books time now to join Kevin Connors in our halftime update thanks guys a first half that saw a little bit of everything there in Charlotte the passing game for both sides has been outstanding on point unrelenting they've excelled in the short game the intermediate game and especially on the def ball all in all a thrilling display of offensive Firepower and these defenses have a lot to discuss here at halftime and with that let's send it back to the guys inside Jerry Richardson Stadium [Music] looks as if we are set to crank it up here in the second half from inside the 10yd line he'll bring it back he was hoping for something a little more Dynamic but they get him on the ground at the 20 Charlotte has the ball back the 49ers offense will return to the field nothing went right in that first half in the first quar of business here try not to be embarrassed any further but the comeback is possible remember 2006 Michigan State down 35 to Northwestern at halftime they somehow came back and won the game but it all starts on one play and that has to happen here on this first drive for the offense yeah the first got a lot of running room that defense got gas but they finally get him to the turf at the 47 what perfect execution on that Big R everything perfectly blocked and this guy doesn't need a lot of room I love how this offensive line communicates and works up front you see guys winning their one-on-one battles there's double teams happening guys are getting into the second level and creating big lanes for this running back part in the back field it's Matt and they pick up just a few on that completion ran the ball on first down let's see what they do on second and offenses nowadays they're really just counting numbers how many guys do you have out wide how many guys do I have out wide if I have enough guys to block your guys boom it's just built into the offense pitch catch let me get a few yards obviously when you're playing in weather like this the ball is very slippery and it's hard to catch the QB threw a bullet that time and his receiver just could not reel it in after the second down misfire looking at a third and eight he's going to let one fly down the middle and it slips through his fingers incomplete that would would have been a huge gain if he could have squeezed it and the 49ers will putt this one away this will be the second time they've had to kick it away and that one will Sail Out of Bounds no chance for a return there y offense ready to go back to work this has been exactly the way you draw things up David the offense has really been moving the football and it's been great execution they've done exactly what they've wanted to do build the lead now Palmer a different animal now you got to protect them you can tell they were paying attention in practice this week in the film room because they have gone out everybody right now on the same page right back to the well can't get him to the ground finds that GRE and he's got four out to the 29 and you know when we talk about great third down defenses it really starts with them getting stops on first and second down you've got to get those stops early in the drives to set up third and long so that's a missed opportunity on that second down by this defense and I don't care if I get it by two by 20 by 30 by 40 I just I just want to get the first down understanding the situation understanding where the sticks are doesn't have to be sexy but I got to make sure I get to that fires into traffic picked off just a small return but a big play as they have it now at the 45 first down here for the offense looking to move it through the air got his man on the outside and the defense had that one well covered just a short game there this defense is going to have to be careful not only do they have to worry about this guy running the football but they've got to keep their eye on him when he runs routes too he is a versatile back trying to get to him and this sophomore able to wreak some havoc and get the sack a third and long coming up here he's looking downfield to throw now adjusting he'll try to do it himself get all you can and get down with the slide the 49ers will line up to PL it away let's see if he can help the coverage team out with this [Applause] one and the punt will hit at the one just a little too far for them to be able to down it it'll be a touch back and come out to the 20 Miss ready to send the offense onto the field after that last pick David they really need to take care of the ball this time no doubt and Palmer I want to know what Spurrier said to you on the sideline after a pick do that again and you'll be right here beside me for the rest of you got to go out you got to call your plays and I hope this coaching staff isn't going to be afraid to throw at this D they'll run the option now the pitch he will step out of bounds but not before the big pick up and a first down for this offense and you're going to hear this guy's name a lot they're going to ride the big fella he's such a stud they're going to he's going for the big play makes the grab inside the 30 touchdown Old Miss and the route is on yeah and that's simple but it's not easy it's a go route like that receiver streaking straight down the outside of the field and my job as a quarterback is to put that ball up in the air keep it away from the safety he does just that receiver comes down with a catch nice pitch nice catch touchdown about to kick it away after scoring the touchdown set Kick away from inside his own 10 he'll try to help out their field position makes a move this is so dangerous the excellent Vision to find a lane and get it out and set up the offense with good field positions Charlotte will'll send the offense back onto the field boy three and out last time David they'd like to be more productive this time around yeah in the last Drive nothing really clicked no rhythm got off the field really really quickly they need to put something together here pmer yeah David bad execution on that last drive so they got to take a collective breath and start playing like a unit stopping the run is very high on every defensive coordinator's list making the team onedimensional nice job stuffing the run on that play right there the give to the bat nice solid form tackle from this sophomore if they can convert here that type of play can really give you a shot of momentum Brown wants to pass receiver looks it in it's complete and he's not going to make it the defense denying him the first down and the 49ers will try to pin them back with the punt he's getting a lot of work fourth time he's punted tonight no return possible on this one it goes out of bounds and they'll mark it right around the 30yd line thez offense ready to go back to work opening snap of this drive comes from the 31 yd line leaves it with the back just sort of a Relentless run getting everything that was available to him and they'll Mark him down at the 40 boy he's over 100 now at 102 yd on the ground and with that run he eclipses the 100 yd Mark in this season opener wide receiver now comes in motion he's looking for a man on second down that pass is incomplete and they're probably fortunate that it wasn't free for a fum and finally the defense is able to get some pressure on this quarterback they had been trying all game long different ways to affect him weren't able to get there but on that play because of the pressure it affected his accuracy that's why the ball Falls incomplete gets it to the 46 yd line first down for this offense and the rebels come to the line with a fresh set of downs now the quarterback changing the original play call going up top on first down and this will be incomplete a big hit there forces second down couldn't make the connection last time let's see if they' throw it again he's going to pass on second down buys a little extra time unleashes one intercepted looking for more room he's at the 30 pass the touchdown ners and this defense coming up with points of their own what an interception return the DB saw it he thought don't drop it don't drop it then thought don't get caught don't get caught and he did the pick six these guys can play offense too now look at this I showed you I can be a wide receiver coach might split him out at wide receiver next week after making that big play but defense great job making the interception and you're right doing something with it don't just slide down don't be content take that thing all the way back and they'll haul down the returner to start us on the next drive time for one more snap before the end of the quarter they'll try the right side and he was able to push forward for a solid gain as the clock strike zero here in the third we've come to the end of the period and Old Miss is on top this has been a complete obliteration so far as the third quarter stats will show you [Applause] back to pass it's Simmons floating away outside the pocket lets it Go lost the defense he's wide open he found plenty of room and he gets it to the 39 yd Line This offense is like running a Perfection drill in practice against air chunk play after chunk play and here they come again touch pass on the Jet Sweep and he's brought down after a nice game in these touch passes it's so hard because there's always action off of it right if I fake this pass and I can run it up the gut or I can throw it and I just spread me out and make me defend so many things and you can tell they got on the edge quickly got the big first down and a nice run there for the defense how good does that feel right you got the lead in the fourth quarter the defense knows you're going to try to run the ball to ice the game and you rip off an8 yd run they know it's coming and they still can't stop and he's brought to the ground but not before he gets enough for the first down ready to fire from the pistol [Applause] they'll keep it on the ground to keep this clock moving pick up of one it's down at the 11 I like the decision there in the RPO game too guys I know only only got a couple of yards but that play is going to open up bigger opportunities throwing the football down the field in the RPO game too so keep handing it off to this guy let him see what he can do and when the defense gives you the look to t hold the football and then finally throw it that's when you take advantage feeling some heat that pass is incomplete and they might be fortunate it wasn't knock free for a fumble it'll be third down doesn't take this defense a lot of time to get to the quarterback man they've got speed all over the place they hit him so quickly and because of that the ball Falls incomplete boy they'd love to pick up this conversion and go to work with a first and goal looking to throw it's Simmons got out of trouble and throws another incompletion on third down tell you what I don't know if the offense was expecting man coverage that time third and long in field goal range you're expecting it to be Zone instead they lock them up manto man everybody on an island everybody W they get the incomplete that ball is intercepted at the goal line and the offense makes the tackle in frustration after the interception Drive comes up empty and it's a turnover Never Say Die attitude and I love that especially young players cuz they're out there competing and I know the scoreboard right now doesn't look pretty they're not going to come back and win this football game but I just love kids that are competing until there's zeros on the clock and a really nice run and pick up there before the defense avoided disaster and stop the really big play wants to throw on first down another interception this guy just can't find his own players and they'll drag him down after a good return on the interception the number one objective for a defense is to make the offense one dimensional well when they're trailing by this much late in the game they're onedimensional they have to pass the football we can bring more speed on the field you see it we know you're throwing the football nice break on the football nice interception this one's almost open let's see if they go back to the air on second down hand off from the shotgun relying on that running game is they threaten a pick up of four down to the thir well they're going RPO nice job handing it off and really good Vision there just getting what he can get right puts his foot in the ground gets forward helps this offense find positive yards boy they love to move the sticks here and take a shot at it on first and goal and we have breaking news they score yet another touchdown well these players came together I have been so impressed not just by the talent but also by their composure handling this kind of environment in the first game of the season this says a lot about the leadership in that Locker almost ready to kick it away after scoring the touchdown he'll bring it out it's Reynolds rolling the dice to bring it out of the end zone did not work out as he stopped at the 13 Charlotte has the ball back the 49ers offense will return to the field one of the most valuable things a quarterback can have David shortterm memory just forget that last pick you dang right clear the mechanism it's over move it behind you some players can't do that real well and it leads to more mistakes Jesse you got to just forget about it and move on and I think the coaching staff can help him too David I think you can get the running game going here and also give him some easy throws after the misfire now now on second down Brown will throw it working that left side now they're able to get him stopped just shy of the first down marker it's third down now they ought to be able to get off one more play before the two-minute warning they'll try to pick up the first through the air and here's the fifth interception by this quarterback they didn't give him much on the return but they are in Prime scoring position at the [Applause] 22 they go to the ground he's brought down but not before they pick up the big first down this guy's been special today coming into this one they thought they had an opportunity really to get him going running the football and he has delivered you've seen the speed the vision his ability to break tackles well over 100 rushing yards in this and they're going to four again yet another touchdown as they just add to their total points points and more points this offense has had their way they just keep their foot on the gas keep putting up points keep putting up touchdowns and you know what this is one of those stats days you look back and you're like that guy had 12 touchdowns on the year Well four or five of them might have been in this game and for a quick update let's go to Kevin Conor's in the studio boys if it's happening in college football we've got eyes on it check this out out Penn State is currently trailing in this one but there are more people in Beaver Stadium today than most American cities the crowd alone can help turn this game it's less than a touchdown lead they're trailing by just running through everybody that was a nice pick up running the drag route and finding that quiet soft spot in the zone yeah drag routes not only work against man coverage they work against zone two if you can find the soft spot and the quarterback gets it to him early he can and the quarterback is snowed under the defense going to stop the clock with the timeout they want to make sure they have everybody on the same page they gave up the sack on first down now it's second and 11 Brown wants to pass fires to the wide out it's complete and the big gain and they've got it on the 46 the 49ers come to the line with a new set of downs they'll throw it on first down getting some heat and just too much on that pass too high too wide out of bounds and incomplete after the misconnection it's second down [Applause] he's looking to throw they almost had another interception they're trying to set records out there and this is just one of those days man where everything has gone wrong right like they just haven't been in a rhythm they haven't they haven't got it going and never built the momentum this is this is one of those days you learn from you try to grow from a lot of things that we going to show in the film room that people aren't going to like but hopefully you can learn from it and do better next time that big play has them in business first and 10 inside the 20 they're threatening to score and they'll throw it they're bringing heat they'll wrap him up and he didn't find the same kind of Running Room this time as he did on the previous Play It's just so nice to have a QB under Center nowadays in football you can trust these guys who put so much on their plate and you tell them don't get positive yards there and a lot of these guys are such great athletes they do it with ease he caught it and he'll take it in for the touchdown it won't have much impact on the outcome of the game but it is a fabulous party the consolation prize if you will and a nice touchdown continuing to fight continuing to play this one it's pretty much over down multiple possessions this late in the football game it would take a miracle but nice job by this offense continuing to fight push the ball down the field make play really disciplined job by the coverage unit to get down there and make the stop at the 19 Miss ready to send the offense onto the field final minute this game's on Ice they can take a knee and run out the clock this offense has to feel great with how they're able to go out execute and perform big plays all game long I think it's sending a statement too to Future defenses down the road on the schedule and the quarterback caught up cou and sacked at the 12 the re in the hurry up off play action unloads to the Wi out passes incomplete the clock is down to nine and that's a good stop for this defense and listen there hasn't been a lot of positive today but like let's finish this game strong I think that'll be the message from the defensive coordinator can we get a stop can we get them off the field I know a lots went wrong but like just live in this moment and try to be great right here to end the game time out on the field and four left to go and after this play the cake will be baked oh the quarterback can make a big play when he starts moving around the catch is made but he's beyond the sideline so they'll turn it over on down the old coaching cliche go one and0 every week and for the first week they get it done that great start to the season that's what you want you want to come out find a way to win was it perfect absolutely not you're going to find things to work on throughout the season but 1 and0 that's where you wanted to be and I think if you're the coaching staff of this winning team you've got to like what you've just seen first game of the year there was tremendous effort on the field guys flying around flying to the football trying to make the plays necessary to win this game they definitely made a few mistakes but that's what practice is for but if you're the coaching staff I think you're very very positive right now moving forward so that's going to do it for us for Jesse Palmer David
