Arizona 2024 College Football Schedule Preview/Projected Record

[Music] what's up sports fans this is the Lucas Ross Sports channel we continue here with my 2024 college football schedule preview and projected record series up next are the Arizona Wildcats before we preview this team's schedule for 2024 and give them an early projected record based on how tough their schedule is let's take a look at what Arizona did in 2023 here are my projections and predictions last year for the Arizona Wildcats you see my projection for them was 2 and 10 and then my prediction for them was 5 and seven so there was a little bit of a difference there with my projection and prediction last year for Arizona but this team did obviously better than my projections and predictions last year Arizona went 9 and3 last year in 2023 and again this is based off of the regular their season but if you want to count their bowl game victory over Oklahoma this Arizona team went 10 and3 overall last year in 20123 so Arizona was one of the most hottest teams in the country last year and definitely one of the most best finishing teams last year as well in 2023 here was the schedule last year for Arizona they of course played in their last year of the Pack 12 uh they will be heading to the Big 12 this upcoming season you look at their non-conference schedule they had to play Mississippi State out of the SEC that ended up being a loss there on the road at Mississippi State in overtime that was a game that you know Arizona probably could have won and then they um lost to Washington and USC here in the Pack 12 so they only lost like a couple games in the Pack 12 last year uh to the runner-ups of the national championship to Washington and then of course USC here on the road that game ended up going into triple overtime and just think about it if Arizona would have won all these games that they lost to Arizona probably would have been like 12-0 11 and one perhaps maybe 10- two as well so Arizona probably could have been a dangerous team last year if they won like all these games on their schedule so that's a look back at 2023 let's now look ahead to 2024 here is the schedule for Arizona in 2024 before we go game by game and preview this entire schedule for Arizona let's take a look at who they play in the non-conference and this is their non-conference schedule they only get a couple of non-conference games this year they will play New Mexico and Northern Arizona here in the non-conference uh really that's not a tough non-conference schedule at all so not really much to talk about for this non-conference schedule for the Wildcats uh let's now go back to the original schedule here for 2024 let's go game by game now and preview this entire schedule for Arizona so like I said they will play a couple of non-conference games here in the season and they will start things off here with their two non-conference games in New Mexico and Northern Arizona on August 31st and September the 7th and then they get to Big 12 play they will play Canada State here to open up Big 12 play on the road here on September the 14th tough way to start out your big 12 play here if you're a newcomer here for Arizona and then they play Utah here on the road on September the 28th uh the good news about these batto bat Road games for Arizona you did get a byee here uh before playing Utah on the road that's a very tough batto back road game trip though for this Arizona team again on the road at kada State and on the road at Utah then they get to the month of October they'll play Texas Tech here on October the 5th then it's BYU here on the road here on October the 12th and then they play Colorado here at home on October the 19th and then they play West Virginia at home as well here on October the 26th so looking at that October stretch there there's not really a tough stretch there for Arizona at all I think they do have a chance to probably win some of these games here in the month of October those are definitely all very winnable games in my opinion and then they get to the month of of November they'll play UCF here on the road on November 2nd and they get a byee here before playing Houston at home on November 16th and then they play TCU after that on the road here on November 23rd and then Arizona will close things out here with the Rivalry game with Arizona State here on November 30th so that is the schedule for 2024 for this Arizona team a team again that's coming off a 10- win season last year I think it could be a bit of a step back for this team just because they have a first year head coach and everything coming into this season I don't think it's a big step back for them though I think this will still be a really good Arizona team looking at this schedule like I said the toughest um stretch here is definitely those btat Row games there for Arizona with cace State and Utah but let's now get into the projection here for this Arizona team again this is not an official prediction this is simply a projection based on how tough the schedule is for the upcoming season and this is the scale that I use here for my projections if it's a 1% game in the red these are games where Arizona has no chance of competing in and obviously no chance of winning as well 20% games in the orange will be games where Arizona will be about a couple touchdowns of underdogs 40% in the yellow about a heavy Underdog by about a touchdown 50/50 games will stay in the white games that can go either way 60% in the purple these are games where Arizona will be favored by at least a touchdown the 80% games in the blue about a couple touchdowns of favorites and then the 99% games are the easy wins here for a Arizona at least over 95% and also we really count the green games as wins as well so we'll start with that percentage first we'll start with the green games here first for Arizona uh the easy wins here on the schedule for them in 2024 and I think you got a couple of them on this schedule it's New Mexico and Northern Arizona it's pretty obvious I think they'll be big favorites in both of these games and even with a first year head coach I do expect Arizona to go out there and take care of business there's not really a big reason why they should lose both of these games it would really shock me if they did lose both of these games but Arizona should be able to win both of these games and take care of business and win at least by 30 plus points so I think Arizona will be about a you know three touchdowns of favorites here against both New Mexico and Northern Arizona we move on to the next percentage now in the blue the games where Arizona will be favored by at least a couple of touchdowns and I had a really hard time with my projection here for Arizona just because of how this schedule plays out and also how they do have a first year headcut and everything so with that being said I didn't have any games in the blue or purple so now we go to the games now where Arizona I think will be an underdog in I don't have any red or orange games here on the schedule but I do have a couple of yellow games and it's those bat toat Road games here with Candace State and Utah so I think they are going to be underdogs here in both of these Road games against Candace State and Utah they're very two tough places to play especially on the road uh Canada state is a team that I do expect to have a turnaround of a season uh Utah obviously going to have Cam Rising back at quarterback which will be huge for them coming up this season Utah potentially probably one of those favorites to win the Big 12 this year Arizona is a team that I did kind of expect to you know close to maybe winning the Big 12 this season I did have a very high expectations might way too early top 25 for this team but now when I look at it with a first year head coach and a new head coach now for this Arizona team I think it's going to be a bit of a step back and they probably will be in the middle of that pack in the Big 12 as well you look at these yellow games I think Arizona will be a slight Underdog here between uh these two teams that you're seeing here in the yellow not saying they're going to lose these games automatically these are definitely winnable games because all your games here in the Big 12 are definitely like winnable here for Arizona so all the rest of the games that you're seeing here in the wi are pretty much all 50/50 games uh games that can go either way for Arizona Texas Tech BYU Colorado West Virginia UCF Houston TCU and Arizona State Arizona State it's a rivalry game you never know it can happen all these games that you're seeing from October the 5th to November the 30th are all 50-50 games in my opinion so I think this is the reason why I had a really tough time with my projection here for Arizona it's just because of those games and also a first year head coach coming up this year let's get a projected record now here for this Arizona team for 2024 and again this is not an official prediction this is simply a projection based on how tough the schedule is we count the green games as automatic wins then we you know split those uh you know actually like average out the 40% games in the yell and then average out the 50-50 games and split those 5050 games as well you get an overall projected record here for Arizona at in 2024 at 7 and5 so 7 and5 comes out to be the projection here for Arizona it may not be as bad as you think it is again they have a lot of 50-50 games here that are very winnable on this schedule and again I don't think Arizona is going to be like taking a big step back from where they were last year I think this will still be like a six um you know seven win type team and possibly be a bold team as well so Arizona 7 and5 is my projection here for the Wildcats um again this is not an official prediction this is simply a projection based on their schedule and based off of where this team is coming up this year and based off a little bit from last year as well so give me your thoughts on this Arizona team down in the comments below give me your best case scenario and worst case scenario
