spectacular ocean views not far away from the home of the Florida Atlantic owls FAU stadium in boa Ron Florida where they hope this game lives up to the setting we believe we've got a great one in store today and we've got a team that makes it into the top 25 now when you go on the road that's when you prove you belong as we'll see the number 20 team in the country the Notre Dame Fighting Irish taking on a team from the AAC the Florida Atlantic owls for EA Sports college football I'm Rees Davis joined here in the booth as always by David Pollock and Jesse for Atlantic ready to kick it off and get this game started he'll bring it out from inside his own 10 he was looking for some Running Room but not much to be found as he stopped at the 18 so Notre Dame's offense will start this game off sometimes you sense that what the kids call Swagger is a false bravado this dude is nothing but real a wide receiver yeah he's got that speed and it just you see DBS they're probably watching them p on the field right now and they understand it's going to be a long game this guy can go get it he can run he can do a little bit of everything at the wide receiver's SP good solid determined run there they'll Mark him down at the 27 and to keep this opening drive going they'll need to convert third and one they'll stick to the ground looking for the marker tackle is made after the first down here's this offense with a fresh set of downs from the gun leaves it on on the inside with the back breaks a tackle and he's got room and gang tackling on this dude is a good idea they needed it but he still got the first down well that's a really good looking physical run I'll tell you when you think of Notre Dame football to you think of all the great coaches they've had Eric Paran n rockney Lou Holtz those guys would love what they're seeing right now three yards in a cloud of dust wearing the defense down running the football when they know you're going to do it this is Notre Dame football to a T beautiful gets it out fast he's out of bounds but not before picking up enough for the first down here's his offense with a fresh set of downs he's looking to throw it got a man it's Gilbert really important for a ranked team going into a hostile environment like this one not to give the underdog reason to believe yes reason to believe and don't give the fans reason to get jacked up and excited come out early be in a business mode mindset you got to start fast you got to have a sense of urgency you cannot come sleepwalking into an environment like this because if you do and you make some mistakes this crowd will pounce on you and sees [Applause] momentum here's the handoff pick up of one it's down at the 11 they'd love to pick up this third down and get a fresh set with first and goal they'll try to get it through the going for six and he can't find his man as he was trying to pay off this Red Zone opportunity now on fourth down they'll try to come away with [Applause] three it's good and with that they break the seal on the scoring it's three nothing I know one thing this head coach does every week is he challenges his guys to start fast and it's so important today playing on the road in this kind of environment you saw a nice drive they didn't get the touchdown they would have loved but still kicking that field goal and taking this early lead that's a statement for the visiting team after putting up the field goal they're set to kick it awayi he'll bring it back from inside his SP he was looking for some Running Room but not much to be found as he stopped at the 18 so the FL Atlantic owls offense will go to work for the first time and you'd better be sharp throwing the football to the outside Jesse because both of these teams have lock up corners and they're really good at baiting you into throwing their way as well you got to be careful and David I like these guys too because they're not afraid to get their face in the fan and support the Run game no D it's fun because when you're a defense and you can shut down half the field you can do so many different things to give the Freshman able to get home with the sack and you're seeing the pass rush on the second play of the drive they dial it up look at the speed and athleticism this defense has as they Crow the quarterback for a [Applause] loss not exactly the ideal situation for this offense third and long backed up inside their 20 looking to throw and he needs a chunk play fires to the middle got his man downfield he's going to have enough to pick up the first down as they stop him at the 33 yd line and I really like when offenses attack over the middle of the field between the linebackers and the safties there's usually a soft area that you can usually have some success and really nice job by this offense taking advantage of those areas at the 45 on it way and he gets a big chunk of yardage to the 34 yd line FL Atlantic faes to the line defense is going to have their hands full trying to stop this guy they better rally to the football and get multiple hats cuz he is not easy to bring down he's going to pass looking to the big tight end fires and picked off and he's wrapped up after a solid return on the pick it's so important when his safety drops that he takes the right angles you see those receivers flying across his face he's got to go meet the ball and the receiver a lot of times at the same time great break great job getting to the football and then securing a lot of times you're like oh man catch it catch it catch it I don't have the best hands that's what I play sa Notre Dame has the ball and ready to get moving and to settle for the Chip Shot field goal last time Jesse they'd love for this one to pay off bigger yeah it just comes down to execution too did a nice job out in the field stalled a little bit once they got down to the goal line so they just need to be a little bit more crisp here yeah and listen I I think the first part was the most important part you got to put the drive together first to get down there now when we get down there focused on execution and getting six points and he's able to find a little bit of Running Room before they get him down this defense will try to force a fourth down on Third and short from the 45 he'll do it himself still on his feet at the 45 couldn't ask for much more four there a first down and they're down to the 42 here's this offense with a fresh set of downs just when they looking run now up top finds the tight end crosses the 30 he got a lan they make the stop but not before they do their work up top and pick up a first down and first the offense from the shotgun the inside G knocked down after a three yd gain to the 25 after the three- yd pickup they come to the line Second and seven they go right back to him he's all the way down to the three showed it all on that run man this is a guy who just seems to get better as the game goes on what a run getting his offense down close to the goal line so nice creating explosive runs in the Run game now you're getting in the red inside the five go punch this in and get a touchdown he's got it down to the one ydd line right on the doorstep of per running play to the left here looking for the end zone and he takes it to the house touchdown IR Precision blocking up front created the open Lane and the running back followed it beautifully yeah I it's pretty easy to follow an offensive line that makes those holes and just gives you a caravan all the way to the end zone what an unbelievable J job blocking up front ling up to add another ker on for the extra point and the extra point will tack another one onto this lead they took it 64 yds right down the field and they capped it off with a Oney pun Z from inside his own 10 let's see what he gets find any crease in that kickoff coverage and he'll be stopped at the 17 for Atlantic has the ball back and the offense will try to put together a drive from the gun running back on the Move gets it out to the 20 after a pick up of four the owls will hustle to the line the playaction fake and they get to the quarterback and knock him down back at the 16 well that's a great job getting the sack on the blitz there and one thing Notre Dame has always seemed to Pride themselves on defensively is hardnose tough football especially in the front seven and linebackers that can play downhill and not just make plays in the running game but get in the back field and Blitz the quarterback and you saw all of that from him right there you make up the game plan and not a lot on the play sheet for this third and long from inside their own 20 they're trying to get to it got it in the middle it's cuber and that is good versatility there and a big hit hit from the backer in pass coverage for Atlantic will send the punt unit onto the field the punter going to get his first work of the afternoon he gets a block and returner will be dragged down here come the Irish back on offense boy David they would love to stack another touchdown on top of that last drive and this offense did such a good job on the last Drive everything in Rhythm moved the ball down the field didn't make those mistakes Jesse and they need to do it again on this one yeah you're right they had the defense on their heels you wonder what sort of communication was going on that sideline what sort of changes were they able to make is they got to stop the bleeding right now now on third down for this offense to the air it's Carr he finds a dead spot in the middle thir now well within Striking Distance as that third down play gets him a first at the 29 for the off they'll try the left side dropped after a pick up of three down to the 26 got three on first down it's second and seven he's looking to throw makes the catch it's Williams makes the grab over the defense and they are threatening now down at the 15 first gets it out quickly good throwing catch takes it down to the five as the offense tries to cash in Notre Dame has it now first and goal they'll try to get it in with the run and he takes it in for the score touchdown Notre Dame Notre no midseason dos for these guys as they push out the lead in week six wow this offense they have a lot of faith in this running back knowing if they get down into this area of the field he can get it done and he can answer the Bell two Rush in touchdowns already for this offense lining up to attack one more on that lead and with the extra point they now have a three possession lead at 17 let's go to the studio now and check in with Kevin Connors Kevin what do you got boys if it's happening in college football we've got eyes on it check this out akan is ahead in this one but unlike the days of Charlie fry this offense is not capable of scoring points every single time it sees the ball they're up by a field goal over Toledo we'll Circle back if anything changes in this exciting college football match and how about that one Kevin will be keeping an eye on everything going on elsewhere the give to the back strong run to get it out to the 21 one yd line they pick up of six Florida Atlantic trying to line up quickly in the gun end looking to throw on third down catch in the middle it's Valdez and he's to the 48 yard line that'll be good enough for a first down and the owls come to the line with a new set of downs a big gain there as they did a tremendous job working the middle of the field yeah and if you're going to complete that throw Reese quarterbacks got to play with anticipation you've got to get it out of your hands early and give your receiver and this sophomore able to wreak some havoc and get the sack first down sack pushes it back now it's second down yeah how about this defense man that's the third sack of the day they've been putting pressure getting him on the ground not something they've been good out throughout this season this defense playing better because they're getting more pressure on the quarterback offense in the hurry up on the move they bring him down and he's going to lose a yard on that one Florida Atlantic decides to pun it away this will be the second time they've had to kick it away he won't be able to return this one as it goes out of bounds M Dame has the ball and ready to get moving power football with the run runs through the tackle and they'll spot it at the 45 that's good enough for a first down and that's another productive run this offense has had a bunch of them today and the running back I think this lead was built on this guy he's done a great job all game long setting the tone and I think that's why this offense has been successful a most efficient pick up of six on first down it's second and four 48 yd line brings up second down reads it fires complete really putting together a threat now they get the first it's at the 37 here's this offense with a fresh set of downs the off they'll leave it with him they're trying to send a message with this running game he stopped after a pick up of four to the 33 solid pick up of four on first down it's second and six grab near the marker it's Gilbert he steps out of bounds but it will be enough for a first down fresh set of downs after the completion coming out on first down with the play fake a shot toward the end zone and they won't make the connection going for the big play and the incompletion brings up a second down for this offense out of the gun to give to the back just a one yd gain leaves him with third and nine if they can convert here that type of play can really give you a shot of momentum trying to move the sticks on third down through the air got his hand they make the stop at the 5 yd line but they've got it first and goal they'll try to get it in with the run and they try the middle of this defense and that is not happening and the D deny them on second and goal he'll keep it himself he pushes it forward all the way to the 2yd line and they've been able to get within two yds now will they try to throw it in for the score trying to get it done with the run here on Third and goal and to the end zone he goes touchdown Fighting Irish number 25 you may have to give this guy a homestead exemption In The End Zone he spent so much time in there and we're not even at halftime I i' I've lost count I don't know that's probably on your stat sheet in front of you but goodness gracious that's that's at least three that I that I can remember so he's having a heck of a day on to attempt the try kicker is on for the extra [Applause] point the kick is up and good and put one more on the lead lining up to cover the kick after that touchdown drive at on the run from inside his own five didn't find any crease in that kickoff coverage and he'll be stopped at the 17 the for Atlantic offense will return to the field to say this has been a slow start is a bit of an understatement and they really need to get it going here Jesse that's right the opponent they're firing an all cylinders right out of the gate offensively for this unit they've been slow and struggling they need an explosive play to wake themselves up yeah and it's just the first quarter so it's not the end of the world you've seen slow starts but you got to continue to pick and pick and pick until you find that play or or that scheme that you can use against this defense nowhere to run on that one he loses four on the Carry Fourth Down and the punt team sends it the other way surprisingly makes a fair catch just outside the 40 yd line so we'll see the offense on the field to start this drive PS and fires complete to the L quarterbacks love the short passing game early in games because it really helps them get into a rhythm so nice job by the offensive coordinator giving his quarterback an easy throw something he can see and something that he knows he can complete and they'll bring him down but not before he picks up the first down I'm winding down in the quarter as they come to the line and first they're going to test that run defense to the right here what a good run there he has enough for the first down both teams wanted to establish the run and they have done exactly that in the first quarter now the challenge here they've taken a punch but they can't let it get out of hand we start the second dropping back it's Carr fires toward the end zone fires a bullet now it's picked off pass inter defense thought he had the huge play with the interception instead NAB for pi and it'll be first down for this offense he'll throw it on first first down he's got it on the run and he strides his way into the end zone touchdown Irish I mean the way this team has dominated this game impressive to say the least and it's cool now because you're kicking the credit of them so bad you start to put the backups in and all them get to get juice and get to get some playing time gets him feel good the other side well they're just taking that right to the face they'll try to add another to their lead and with the extra point they pushed the lead out a little further that's exactly what you want to do when you have that type of field position strike quickly and they did one play and they put it on the board on the move from inside is five really disciplined job by the coverage unit to get down there and make the stop at the 19 Florida Atlantic takes over again and the owls offense will go back to work and he found plenty of Running Room on that one before the defense was finally able to get him down he'll pull it on the read finally stopped at the 46 after a 15yd gain finally this offense starting to show a little juice they've got a first and 10 from the gun running back gets to give they pick up half of it it'll be second and five running backs on either side of the [Applause] quarterback and now on the pitch the ball's loose oh and he gets it back so you can file that one under could have been worse a chance to sort of put the defense on its heels if you convert a third and long this one from the 44 on the move at the 30 slicing and dicing through this defense and they've got it down to the 23 this guy's done a lot of good things early this year throwing the football with that last completion that not Tak him over a th000 yards passing for the year Florida Atlantic going back to work after moving the chains out of the gun they'll run it inside you'll take this every time five yds on the first down play for to Atlantic trying to punch it in from the Red Zone the offense showing motion from the tight end trying to get a read on the D quarterback on the keeper he's dropped behind the line of scrimmage that'll be a loss of three already well within field goal range wonder how aggressive they'll be on Third and long from the 22 Rush coming in hot and they got him at the 29 you got to be impressed with this defense early in this game guys they've got a big lead because they are getting after the quarterback they've already generated multiple sacks they thought coming into this game they could take advantage of this offensive line and that game plan is working to perfection and they'll send out the field goal unit and he'll have to find the line and generate some power a 46y from the left and the kicker delivers the three ball to finish off the drive 31 [Music] after putting three on the board the kickoff unit ready to go here's the return from inside as 10 he was hoping for something a little more Dynamic but they get him on the ground at the 20 here come the Irish back on offense comes out throwing on first down complete to the right good Paul good execution as they move the chains and they have a first down the 38 looking to pass it's Carr excellent coverage and good use of the hands to knock it away incomplete maybe a little frustrated after that last incompletion it's second and 10 from the 38 got the back over the middle they make the stop but this passing game does some damage and they move the sticks with the first down here's this offense with a fresh set of downs they want to just keep throwing it got his man in the middle they make the stop right there good pickup it's still short of the first down up to the ground with the back and that'll be enough to give Notre Dame a first down here's this offense with a fresh set of downs first to the ground he's got it again just a solid stop by this sophomore didn't get much on first down it's second and nine [Applause] they'll ride the running back and leave it with him knocked down at the 35 after a pick up of three this will be the seventh play of the drive and they need to convert third and six Dre snap makes it past the marker working their way closer and closer a third down conversion and they've got it at the 26 from the gun give on the inside they finally get him on the ground but the big running play moves to change for the first down this offensive scoring position with a fresh set of downs they'll dial up the run on first and goal pushes ahead for two to the seven yd line defense roll up deep in its own end on that last play now a second and long coming Relentless tough running gets it down to the four third and goal where defensive coordin aders have to make a stand he wants it all he snares it in the end zone touchdown motor D really nice job working the route and getting himself open he was able to locate the football snag it out of the air and this guy now has five receiving touchdowns on the year P unit on the field on for the extra point and the extra point will tack another one onto this lead we check in with Kevin Connors what's going on Kevin Hey guys let's take a look at what's happening in a great top 25 matchup Houston is ahead right now but that's not quite Andre wear or even David Kingler under center today this one is a long way from being over they're up by four over Utah we are the eyes and ears of the college football fan and we've got you covered all day here in studio guys oh and how about that I know Kevin and those guys will be keeping an eye on it for us man if I'm a defense I got to find a way to get some more pressure on the quarterback or disrupt their timing and their Rhythm I can't give them these big chunk plays through the air I got to be maybe a little bit more aggressive or do something a little bit different and he doesn't find much Running Room a short gain on the play give to the back he's dropped behind the line of scrimmage that'll be a loss of three now facing a third and long from the gun wants to pass scrambling away oh he just avoided taking a big hit with the slide now on fourth down here comes the field goal team that is no good the idea was to draw just a tad closer instead the mountain is still enormous ATL Notre Dame has the ball and ready to get moving what a good mix of plays keeping that defense off balance last time David and Reese they don't know if it's run or if it's pass they got him right where they wanted this defense doesn't know how to react from getting punched in the mouth on that last drive so in this next Drive David I think you keep running the football because that sets up the play action it sets up the RPO game and then you keep this defense gu a third and long coming up here to the air it's Carr receiver looks it in it's complete third and he's not going to make it the defense denying him the first down gets off his first one of the day he was called on five times in the victory last week not going to risk a return here he'll make the fair catch here comes the offense on first down looking to move it through the air quickly out to the tight end they stop him almost immediately short game there and still a little ground cover pick up the first up out of the gun the running back has it draged down at the 26 after a pick up of five now on First and 10 from the 26 might as well run him until they stop him he's got it again runs ahead and Powers his way from four yds out to the 30 after the productive first down play it's second and six leaves it with the back found a little space and he's got forward to the 35 these are the types of plays where offenses impose their will third and short from the 45 a quick completion to the left looking for the first down and he's knocked down immediately but not before he moves the chains quick release on the RPO they make the stop after the catch and still some work to do to pick up that first down here on second down let's see if they keep it on the ground and he's swallowed up at the line of scrimmage by the big defensive tackle play number seven on this drive and it'll be third and two they'll run the option he'll toss it fighting off the defender they will finally make the tackle but that option was executed to Perfection Florida Atlantic goes to work with a fresh set of downs he'll do it himself he's dropped behind the line of scrimmage that'll be a loss of three got some work to do after that last play second and 13 they make the stop but not before he takes a chunk out of what they need to move the sticks they've been very good at moving the chains on third down two for two on this drive this time they need six he's going to let one fly down the middle ball in the air intercepted and they'll drag him down after a good return on the interception this is obviously not a great start for this quarterback here two interceptions already in this game he's got to do a much better job with his decision making here come the Irish back on offense boy three and out last time David they'd like to be more productive this time around yeah in the last Drive nothing really clicked no rhythm got off the field really really quickly they need to put something together here yeah David bad execution on that last drive so they got to take a collective breath and start playing like a unit on this drive really nice stop there from this senior leader third down conversions always a huge stat and they've got a third third and long from the 27 fires to the big fella and he was just a couple of steps away from taking that one even further after the catch first and 10 for first used the play fake now to throw wide open downfield and he was on his way and they get him down at the 30 I know it's early in the game but defensively after that play you know know you have to tackle the catch when this guy gets the ball in his hands he is so dangerous after the fact so it's okay for him to make catches just got to get him to the ground quickly makes the grab it's Williams and he's down after the short completion he did not make it to the first down marker second down com up into the end zone touchdown Fighting Irish and they'll put that scoreboard operator to work and put six on the board number 17 and it's now the second time this wide receiver has scored another outstanding job with the route great job securing the catch they'll try to attack one more on their score and with that extra point the lead remains in the gargantuan category about to kick it off after punching it in for the touchdown not 45 Florida Atlantic and he takes this from inside the five really disciplin job by the coverage unit to get down there and make the stop at the 19 for Atlantic has the ball back and the offense will try to put together a drive looking to take a shot he's got it downfield for a huge game hit the afterburners kid and he'll take it in and house it touchdown out one of the reasons this offense is so exciting to watch they've got guys that are dangerous after the catch if this quarterback gets through his progression David hits you in stride these guys will take it to the house man it's your job to do the rest right you hit me in stride where I don't have to stop running I don't have to break down it makes it so easy the connection between quarterback wide receiver you can tell this is a good one and that's why they got six on that play lining up for the Pat is on for the extra [Applause] point and it's perfect the exra point is if only it were always this easy for the offensive coordinator One play big chunk yardage put points on the board just like that looks as if the returner will try and field this one didn't find any crease in that kickoff coverage and he'll be stopped at the 177 not Dame has the ball and ready to get moving from the gun the ground game able to pick up a couple before he's dragged down at the 19 picked up two yards on that last one they need eight on second down wants to throw it's Carr and the pass is incomplete Jarred Loose by the hit after the second down missfire looking at a third and eight from the gun wants to pass cats open down the middle they make the stop but the sweet throwing catches plenty to give him a first down here's this offense with a fresh set of downs first the he looks that one in nicely he's brought down solid pick up but a little bit short of the first down he's looking for a man on second down caught and the catch was one thing and the Run even better a big pick up on that one Notre Dame coming to the line with another first down and that's enough for first he wants to throw it again quickly to the tight end and a good job in coverage there as they stop it after just a few and now on second down for this offense second down coming up he's looking to throw working the middle it's complete tackle is made but not until he gets the first down clock winding toward zero they'll get one more snap off wants to throw on first down oh picked off takes it the other way he's at the 40 running inside the 20 and he's going to run it all the way back touchdown Florida Atlantic the DB saw he thought don't drop it don't drop it then thought don't get caught don't get caught and he didn't the pick six hey these guys can play offense too now look at this I showed you I can be a wide receiver coach might split him out a wide receiver next week after making that big play but defense great job making the interception and you're right doing something with it don't just slide down don't be content take that thing all the way back brother ready to try the point after for the extra point and it's up and good first half in the books time now to join Kevin Connor in our halftime update gentlemen looks like we've got a great atmosphere today in boka Ron each of these two offenses has looked like well oiled machines but it doesn't take a genius to figure out these two passing attacks have run circles around these defenses man or Zone nothing seems to be worth working and I'm not sure that defensive coordinator is going to be able to figure things out here at halftime and with that let's send it back to the guys at Howard schnellenberger field Notre Dame will kick it off to start the second halfi from inside the 10 here he comes not a lot of space to be found good Hustle by the coverage team and they stop him at the 21 the 4 Atlantic offense will return to the field got blown out in the first half and now just desperate to find anything to generate momentum here in the third quarter it just starts with one play though you just need one thing to go right for this offense to start to build that momentum and then that becomes infectious for the and that is interception number three on the day and they capitalize not only on the pick but the great return to give the offense tremendous field position you know I like the decision by the quarterback in terms of where he was going with the ball just don't like the accuracy that was not good location on the throw got away from him a little bit and the defense able to come up with a big pick the offense set for a first down play the give from the gun trying to run it in in the Red Zone he's got four and he's down at the 12 solid pick up of four on first down it's second and six he'll keep it himself it's a fumble on the play defense coming up with a huge fumble recovery I love those smashes when you can hear it up here Reese goodness Grace you can hear the contact such a big lick the offensive guy doesn't hold on to the football huge momentum swing big turnover forced by the defense looking for a productive play on first down leaves it with the running back and that's a very productive first down play and bringing up second and three right back to him on the ground slams into the pile he'll get one to the 17 you've got a third and manageable back up in your own end but convert here and you get some momentum they'll try to pick it up on the ground this offense has a little room and a fresh set of downs at the the 23 it's first down from their own 23 yd line they'll go to the ground at the 35 he's got room they finally make the stop with the big run is plenty to move those sticks for the first down FL Atlantic has the offense humming good quickness to grab it off the bals and he'll ramble to the 34 before he's finally knocked down that's why everybody has to do the Tip Drill DBS and receivers and it worked out this time for the offense that's exactly what you want as a Defender just get your hand on the football let that thing bounce and you see so many big plays made but it was the opposite goes right to the wide receiver makes the play makes the catch man that's frustrating for a defense now the play fake fires to the wide out he strike downfield and Fir the completion there in the red zone and set up at the 13 Florida Atlantic will go to work with a fresh set of downs headed to the end zone TouchDown for Atlantic and they add six more to the board with that trip to the house sometimes we ask coaches about halftime adjustments and they go blah BL blah blah blah blah and then sometimes they make some good ones sometimes back blah blah blah blah blah actually works but it's working now but it might be too little too late but at least you got the party started now they'll line up for what they hope is [Applause] automatic right down the Boulevard and for a quick update let's go to Kevin Conor's in the studio all right guys a little update on what else is happening in college football this weekend Iowa is currently trailing but if this young star leads a comeback today he could join former Heisman winner Nile kenck among the legends to wear that uniform they're trailing by 10 to ruter just another week of college football where we've come to expect the unexpected fellas thanks for the update on that one Kevin let us know when it goes final they're trying to slow that Rush down with the draw that'll be a gain of five out to the 27th fairly manageable distance here on third down from the 27 scanning the field it's car finds a spot in the middle he'll make a play on third down he's got enough for the first as they mark it at the 32 from the gun he leaves it with the back they'll move the chains after he gets it to the 43 yd line they've been very sharp on this drive so far now first and 10 from the 43 caught over the middle it's Williams they make the stop right there good pickup it's still short of the first down at the 47 yd brings up second down trying play action throws to the wide out finds a man on the left and chunk plays are the name of the game and they get one here before the defense finally makes the stop now inside the 20 first and 10 from the 18 motion trying to get the defense to show its hand pocket starts to collapse and the defense a got him at the 27 and that is a huge play for the defense offense has it in your Red Zone you're trying to knock them out of field goal range the only way you do that is by creating negative plays and they get the sack they've got some serious work to do to keep that last one from Messing up this drive second and 19 hand off from the shotgun and a really short game before he gets a whole bunch of company from the defense balls at the 24 a lot of confidence in their kicker from here but they'd love to take it off of his foot and convert the first down and it's incomplete despite some serious arm strength shown there they'll try to get something out of this drive and kick the field goal here on fourth down and for the second time in this game game he'll try to knock through a field goal this one a 41 y splits the uprights it's good and now the lead is extended little at [Applause] that lead just keeps getting fatter in this kickoff team doing a little running the returner will field it and try to do some business and they'll get him on the ground as the offense comes out to start the next Drive FL Atlantic takes over again and the owls offense will go back to work they face a pretty and it's picked off for the fourth time today and the offense makes the tackle in frustration after the inter ception Drive comes up empty and it's a turnover tell you what when you come out of your own End Zone you know the shadow of your own End Zone a lot of bad things can happen you want to got to get a few first downs get some space so if you punt after that point you can pin them a little bit deep this is the exact opposite of what happened now you set them up in beautiful scoring field position already really bad play by the offense hand off from the gun he's dropped behind the line of scrimmage that'll be a loss of three going to work in the Red Zone they can't pick up the first down without getting it into the end zone back to pass it's Carr touchdown Irish and the Ping has started if he can keep putting together games like this he might have a shot at Brady Quinn's career touchdown record of 95 all the great quarterbacks the Irish have had guys like Joe thyman John hu nobody's even close to that yeah and that's that's crazy to think about being in that kind of company and and Notre Dame's always been a good running team and when they find quarterbacks and have great quarterback play then I think they start to take off to that next level and so far he's showing that here today and the play will stand after the replay booth just does a little double checking to make sure and the extra point was good to finish things off almost ready to kick it away after scoring the touchdown at he'll bring it back looking for help and the returner will be brought down for Atlantic has the ball back and the offense will try to put together a drive well the good news about this drive Jesse it can't go worse than last time through a pick on the first play no it certainly can't I think one good way David to help your quarterback Turn the Page is just find him an easy completion here and let him get back into a rhythm yeah or find him an easy handoff just hand the football off maybe get the ground game going maybe jump start this offense a little bit and maybe he'll get back to the line of scrimmage but no more than that this is the type of play that can give the offense momentum third and short from inside the 20 he'll pull it on the read brought down to the ground but he has enough for the first down the owls come to the line with a fresh set of downs looking to go up top on first down got it in the middle it's cuber and good coverage by the defense just a short game this offense has a second down play they'll put the tight end in motion the give on the inside he's knocked down in the back field he'll lose a couple third down conversions are a huge stat and this one would be a doozy if they can pull it off from the gun wants to pass and that's incompleted Defender all over him knocked the ball to the ground fourth down coming up for Atlantic will have to send out the punt team he's getting a lot of work fourth time he's punted tonight he will signal for the fair Catch and take it just inside the 35 here come the Irish back on offense from the gun they'll try to impose their running game that's a really good job by the defense wrapping them up getting them on the ground take away that run game make him onedimensional put him in passing situations really good job by the defense cre good good effort on that one to work his way up to the 42 ball is at the 42 yd line close to four down territory here's third and short he's got it and the defense makes the immediate tackle but he has enough return to the field they hope to be able to cash in on this drive David after having to punt it last time yeah and I think this offense needs to start it with the first play you need to be successful and productive on that first play and it gets you in less predictable situations no doubt too don't you just feel like there's a little bit more sense of urgency on this drive it just feels like they've got to be able to put some points up on the board here got stuffed on first down it's second and 10 looking for a physical attack from the gun defense fills those gaps he's got one to the 28 they've already punted four times in this game and they're about to run the guy out there for a fifth time if they don't pick up the first down here he makes a catch and he was loose and in the open field and on his way a tremendous pick up on that one off the play fake on first down complete downfield and a big time grab there knock down immediately but not before he gets it to the 40 Man Down on the play as the officials take a break to let him be checked out now from the 40 it's first and 10 running back searching for a hole and they'll bring him down after a short pickup after the three- yd pickup they come to the line Second and seven off play action unloads to the wide out all kinds of room to throw that one in there and he almost ran away from everybody on that one a huge pick up so close to cashing it in for this offense they bring him down and he's going to lose a yard on that one can the defense stop them again on second and goal trying to barge in and he takes it to the 10 and the coverage team able to wrestle him down Notre Dame has the ball and ready to get moving they kicked a field goal on the last Drive Jesse they've got the lead don't make a dumb mistake but maintain your aggressive play calling yeah no doubt I think it's the play caller right now just taking a look at that script he's got in front of him and finding out where are my Playmakers who can we take advantage of on this defense to get a touch down here yeah and just keep moving the ball down the field just execute a little bit better in the Red Zone there's no need to panic we're moving the football and we got the lead the RPO fire complete to the left they make the stop after the catch and still some work to do to pick up that first down brings up second down the give to the back they get him on the ground after he gets enough to move the sticks this Notre Dame offense def carving it up they're working with another first down trying to move them on the counter they'll pick up four second and Six coming got a little work done on first down now back to the line moving the running back forcing the defense to adjust flips it out to the back just Slither through the tackle and he's got room to run and good blocking in space out there to give him room to pick up the first down he's looking to throw it showing the arm strength to the left and they weren't able to make the connection they were looking for an explosive play after the incompletion it's second down find his big tight end really confident throw and catch there big pick up and they have a first down at the 19 yd line and a first down for the off quarterback on the keeper and excellent Vision to find Running Room there and make a really good pickup before the defense put a stop to [Applause] it keeping it on the ground on first and goal they bring him down and he's going to lose a yard on that one defense roll up deep in its own end on that last play now a second and long coming looking for a man it's Carr and that's going to fall to the ground incomplete that was a physical matchup there third down coming from the gun wants to pass and the quarterback caught up two and sacked at the 12 well here's an interesting decision it's early in the game do you want to be aggressive and try to seize momentum and go for this or do you just take the field goal and take the points this kicker's leg is getting a workout he's already made three field goals and here he comes again just drives it between the uprights and that'll add three more to a lead that is already way out of hand and let's check they'll surprise you with what you do once you get settled you realize what's going on now I'm comfortable with it Jesse this offense looked comfortable in this last Drive they sure did it looked like they started to find some momentum so now it's on this defense to stop that right you're a little bit upset based on what just happened the previous drive you've got to Bow up again and go back to what was working earlier in this game and they'll move the change with the first down but that might be it for the third quarter guys we've come to the end of the quarter and Notre Dame has the lead and as we switch ends of the field let's take a quick look at the national rankings I guess if you're an optimist the stage is set for a massive fourth quarter comeback [Applause] he'll come out throwing on first down quick completion on the out route and he goes out of bounds after coming up with positive yardage there they'll try to spread out this defense on second and three with a four wide out set fires to the wide out and that is his fifth interception if he comes out to try for six he'll be lucky and a big return after the int sets up the offense for this possession and as a defensive lineman late in the game man when you know it's passed you're pinning your ears back trying to get to the quarterback and DBS are trying to do this pad them stats get the int nice job by this D here come the Irish back on offense that last Drive was a long one Jesse they'd like this time to pay it off with a touchdown instead of a field goal no doubt Reese they had a lot of good stuff going that last drive need to get a tutty up on the board here to extend that lead David and I think you definitely want a touchdown but if you put another long drive together get points multiple possessions in a row start to let those body blows add up and wear this defense out he knew exactly where he wanted to go with that one and they've got enough for the first down he's going to pass fires to the right makes the grab crisp execution in the passing game and they've got it down to the three on first and goal Notre D and will'll try to get it in In The End Zone barels ahead he's beat down has ensued they add on another one and they're about to push their record to five and one and this always is the debate of where you fall it's your job to stop me or I should get conserved because this offense obviously has had themselves a day and apparently their day is not over they're going to continue to keep scoring and the defense better do something about it getting set for the point after for the extra point and the extra point just tacks a little bit more onto this huge lead lining up to cover the kick after that touchdown Drive 68a 31 he'll bring it back from inside his five really disciplined job by the coverage unit to get down there and make the stop at the 19 for Atlantic has the ball back and the offense will try to put together a drive they'll throw it on first down and it's incomplete if you're going to take a hit like that you might as well hang on to the ball and here comes the offense on second down he's looking to throw and he's got his man on the sideline he'll come up a little short of the first down facing a third down is short from the 26 they'll try to pick up the first through the air fires left and he throws another interception and they capitalize not only on the pick but on the great return to improve this field position heat up them pass rushers bringing them DBS that's what I'm doing in this situation when I got the lead Le by a couple scores late in the ball game in the fourth quarter I'm going to rush the passer like crazy I'm going to put all those DBS back playing the pass that's what happened great job understanding they're going to have to take shots we get the interception this one's almost over snapped it in the shotgun throw to the end zone picked off and the senior just took that one out of the air and sends it the other way Reese I know you're a little bit of a front runner so you probably would quit actually you probably sub yourself out and take yourself out of the game but I like that they're continuing to play keep fighting you never know what's going to happen actually you know what I know you're not going to win but it doesn't matter keep fighting to the very end the for Atlantic offense will return to the field he wastes no time and comes out throwing he's got it down the middle a quick tackle may but he's got plenty for the first down looking to move it through the air it's complete the defense got caught that time and they finally get him on the ground at the 41 and this offense has got to kick it in high gear now making a big play that is great but we got to go up Tempo we got to go fast we're trailing big in this ball game we got to put a lot of Drives together and maybe even get lucky with an onside kick the offense lines up at the 41 with a first and 10 P wants to throw using the quick game put it right on him sweet play good pickup and they'll move the chains with the first down Florida Atlantic going back to work after moving the chains they move the tight end all over out of the shotgun they go to the ground he's knocked down in the back field he'll lose a couple second down coming up second down coming up he's looking to throw it's caught they get him stopped at the 5 yd line but it will be first and goal from there and the best thing about this the offense can't worry about the scoreboard just keep trying to make plays like that Jesse I know a lot of people in the stadium probably feel like this game is over maybe it's been over for a while or east but don't tell that to this quarter and he runs it in for the score touchdown Florida Atlantic and this has been a rough day for this offense and finally some good things to happen build some momentum maybe for the future you know that's that's the way the coaches spin it when you're getting beat up and you're getting destroyed like listen let's find something for the future let's keep fighting let's keep working this team's done that put some points on the board so it's not all [Music] bad mining up to add another kicker on for the extra point hit that one with some aggression for the point after so that scoring Drive took only six plays and they punctuated it with the 5 yard touchdown run at and he hauls it in and everybody's on the edge of their seats nice job by the kickoff team everybody stayed in their lanes and they'll stop him at the 16 they'll give it to the what they do on third down third down from the gun wants to pass finds a soft spot in the middle and they reacted well to the completion but it was too late to keep them from getting the first down a run for the quarterback they bring him down and he's going to lose a yard on that one lost one on that last one it's second and 11 now they'll try the right side nice move there stopped after a pick up of four good run to get it out to the 34 they line up and it is a long way to the sticks from here from the gun they'll try the middle at the 45 on it way running toward the tap he's all the way down to the three an electric run has him set up how about the explosive play by this offense man it's so nice to have guys you can hand the football off and just watch him work watch him do the rest the speed making big plays breaking tackles man is it nice to have an offense with a playmaker like that the explosive play set the table now they got to serve the feast they'll run it on first and goal touchdown Fighting Irish and the punishment has been extended they put another score on the board as they try to push this winning streak to three points points and more points this offense has had their way they just keep their foot on the gas keep putting up points keep putting up touchdowns and you know what this is one of those stats days you look back and you're like that guy had 12 touchdowns on the year Well four or five of them might have been in this game and with the extra point the lead is even bigger let's go to the studio now and check with Kevin Conor Kevin what do you got a bit of an under the radar game this week guys but take a look at this Iowa is down right now inside kinnick stadium but this young man under Center has shown some Moxy we could see a Legend born zone and he'll bring it out he stopped short of the 20 at the 19 and probably wishes he' just taken the Touchback L Dame has the ball and ready to get moving they'll try the counter finds a little bit of space gets three to the 22 got three on first down it's second and seven up they go to the ground he's knocked down in the back field he'll lose a couple if they can convert here that type of play can really give you a shot of momentum they'll run it out of the shotgun picks up just a few before he's brought down not really willing to take a risk there on Third and long fourth down and the punt team sends it the other way he only needs a slier of daylight working his way on the return up to the 40 yd line before he stopped first down for this offense they'll start this drive with a pass and that incomplete pass has caused by the big hit on first down second down coming fine getting set on second down after the incompletion back to the passing game right on the money to the outside he dragged the toe and how about the ball placement only the receiver could get and at this point the defense looks as if they've been in one of those dizzy bat races they've got no idea where the ball's coming from he's over 500 yds passing yeah this is a Heisman Trophy level performance from this guy the accuracy the decision making the athleticism everything has been on display the offense lines up at the 40 they've got a first down he's looking to throw it and that's not the way they drew it up it's incomplete four wide out set three of them to the left on second and 10 he's looking to throw fires to the middle he's got an open man he was smelling that end zone but they get him down at the four after the big pass play love to see the fearlessness of a quarterback to work the middle of the field and he's got so much confidence in his own arm talent to be able to get that football there before the defense can break it up he's knocked down in the back field he'll lose a couple can the D deny them on second and goal he'll do it himself touchdown Florida Atlantic and they take it in for six more points yeah and listen that that is awesome to see the guys continue to fight continue to keep competing because this game is over like we don't need to fool y'all we're not trying to get y'all to stick around and and improve ratings like the game's over but you're continuing to fight you're powered in for the touchdown and show your kids that we're going to always fight no matter what the score is p unit on the field extra point bangs it through for an extra point so that scoring Drive took only six plays the deficit is huge this one is all but over the they'll keep trying and line up for the onside kick they'd H to get that thing bouncing around but the hands team is able to Corral it here come the Irish back on offense they had to punt it away on their last possession but man what great fi position this time I mean this is awesome like last possession didn't go great now you're set up in an opportunity to get some points start thinking about what plays I like Jesse as I cross the 50 there are a lot of offensive coordinators out there David and in this position they like to take a shot right away and try and capitalize on this field position and a good solid pick up there before the defense knocks him down that kind of pick up on first down and you can take a shot here on second and short he's looking to throw and that's going to be incomplete a lot of contact on the play but no Flags it'll be third down trying to pick up a first down they keep it on the ground clock is their friend and he's knocked down but not before moving the chains Notre Dame ready to go back to work with another first down he's going to pass Zing's it complete to the right they get it down to the seven on that pass play in Prime position for a score up from the gun the running back has it he pushes his way down to the four as they get closer and closer boy they'd love to pick up this conversion and go to work with a first and goal third on Third and short they'll try to convert through the air touchdown Irish and the route is on they add on another one and there about to push their record to five and one nice job on the route and catch by the tight end scoring that touchdown and it doesn't matter what play this offense calls all game long everything has been working this has been a master class in offensive productivity lining up to tack one more onto that lead the kick is up and good and put one more on the lead about to kick it off after punching it in for the touchdown 82 Florida ATL 52 from inside his own 10 he'll try to help out their field position good job by the coverage unit to stop the Return Man for Atlantic kicks over again and the owls offense will go back to work feeling some heat and the quarterback is knocked down back at the 13 and how about this offense man it's been a rough day you're getting beat down you're trying to find some kind of momentum late in the game to build something off of and you give up another sack they'll try to keep that sack from Wrecking this drive here on second and 15 he's looking to throw grabbed in the middle it's cuber and that was some kind of collision between a couple of big bodies there and he sto getting the first down third coming up on Third and long he's going to have to turn one loose down field huls it in oh look out he's at the 20 running through contact and he'll take it in for the touchdown it won't have much impact on the outcome of the game but it is a fabulous Parting Gift a consolation prize if you will nice pitch nice catch and listen maybe this helps next game right like we're trying to find a rhythm find something that works find somebody to go to and this offense is struggl you're down by a thousand but I like that they continue to [Music] fight they'll try to attack one more on their score and it's up and good quick strike offense on that three Place SC Drive they're down big but they'll keep fighting to The Bitter End and line up for the onside kick here they were ready for the onside kick and executed perfectly and they secure the football Notre Dame has the ball and ready to get moving the give to the tail back really nice stop there from this senior leader picked up two yards on that last one they need eight on second down defense we reached the two-minute warning and this offense is that much closer to salting away a victory right back to it and they're able to shove him to the turf as they stop him for a short game how bold will they be on third down after that last one it's third down they will try the run just finds that little crevice and he's still up and he picks up a first down that is not a flag on the play it's just lingerie on the deck after that move from the gun they'll give it on the inside and he didn't have a whole lot of operating room after the Juke not much room to run with the clock running this should be the final play well look what we have here guys after all the early Seasons outs these guys have put together a winning streak they sure have but man they're just believing in themselves right now this is a completely different looking team than what we saw early in the year they playing with so much more confidence and David when you start making plays you start stringing W's together that's obviously what happens everybody gets energized everybody starts to contribute young guys start to grow up coaches start to believe in them everything starts to turn around and swing the other way
