wow well look um what a band Steve Dena welcome thank you for joining me by the way it's a pleasure hotting it what 17 feet over from the Virgin Studios and did you ever see them live you know what I've seen them both it's separately separately not live it's well no no well the thing is I was more dare I say a take down person back in the '90s you know like into pop and stuff I worked at a pop music radio station um so it was kind of later on I think I was like oh my gosh I really wish I seen them live and seeing what was the other highflying birds yeah high flying birds I saw them obviously they were very out there very different to the Oasis music almost quite Dancy Liam Gallagher the Royal Alber H A couple of years ago was really great I mean actually doing the Oasis songs and you look out into that I guess even though they split they were allowed to then still perform the stuff that they themselves had written as individuals yeah of course and Liam sang on many of them most of them in fact so so it would make absolute sense that he does it but I remember that evening thinking if only if only can you imagine you know the two of them back on stage and that's what's happened now and and as a kind of a celebrity hobn as such have you met them either of them uh so Liam Gallagher came in on Chris evans's show about a year ago met him oh exactly the same so this is the Glorious thing about them they are exactly the same they maintain the Persona the arrogance the glibness which look some people criticize of course but it's part of the brand they're incredibly funny they're incredibly funny they're almost kind of boy boys next door who did good who made loads of money but they very very much got that you know madchester Manchester thing do you think that this reunion is about a genuine reunion of the two brothers or do you think this is as much of about money as it is about it's hard to tell I would say money because I'm cic how much this is to a worth do you think Steve well I think I mean the figure 400 million has been banded around I think when you got the merchandise when you've got the the amount of money they're going to put into the economy you know with people fing out they reckon hotel rooms on that very first not quite a Taylor Swift tour but not far off well it's not far off and interesting enough I went to the era tour and I was sat next to a dad who said if only this was Oasis wow and it's he God his wish and Steve it's going to be but not for everybody by a real kind of chaotic scene this morning from 8:00 so as I understand it the line's opened or the the uh the online ability to buy tickets in Island kicked off at 8:00 this morning UK 9:00 um websites crashing lots of people actually from text calls and tweets that we've had Steve the uh this this this afternoon seems that some people have been holding on since then and still are yes still are other people have been on for 5 hours they finally got through and realized the tickets are way more than Oasis promised yeah so to CLA has just texted us here to say this is wild no more tickets but I'm very lucky we actually got tickets can't wait Edinburgh is uh ticket master was brutal she says yes so let me let's just rewind a couple of hours ago Oasis put out a statement and they said get your tickets from Ticket Master or twickets these are the official sites these are the places where they're going to sell the tickets at face value face value 78 seated at Wembley 150 standing they're suddenly being uh priced up to £350 on the official SES on the official sites people are like hold on a minute what's our budget so then Oasis put another statement out saying we we basically we will go along with their in demand prices so their price surges because they know there are millions of people sure but they should have anticipated that should so what what basically they're subject themselves to what we would call ticket scalping halfway through the process absolutely and this is why I've got to be honest with a bad feeling it doesn't work it's going to leave a very bad Fe of course it is there are millions of people disappointed they reckon 90 % of the people trying to get on to these sites haven't yet got tickets well we heard from Olivia just now from essic she said that after 3 hours she was still number 200 something thousand yes A friend of mine was 570,000 in in in in line this morning and how many tickets are there in total do we know yes so there's something like they reckon there's about um one and a half million tickets at the moment I am hearing and this is a rumor okay but I'm hearing a couple of people you would know hang on I'm hearing listen to this cuz this is Steve Dena from Virgin if anyone knows uh anything and when he says there's a rumor uh we should pay attention go on what's no I said this to Mike Graham on Tuesday morning I hear there's other G gigs about to be announced how many you think they always do this I wouldn't be surprised at all if all in all there's 10 Wembley gigs because and what are there so far four there's four four yeah so four becomes potentially 10 and presumably Cardiff Edinburgh elsewhere yeah absolutely I think what they want to do they want to AB this has got this tour's got to go down in history is it's they've got to beat Taylor Swiftor Swift did eight and they want to milk it right so for every gig presumably from by your calculations if everyone is worth 40 million pound in Revenue to them yeah then why wouldn't they just carry on until no one wants to buy tickets anymore absolutely but of course there's still going to be lots of very disappointed FS let me take you back to the H this is why the system doesn't work because when I went to see Taylor Swift I was forced to pay over ,000 even you I can't believe you didn't get a freeb it was the first night of the if I'd held on for a couple of weeks but I wanted to take my niece my 14-year-old niece and you know all of that money it was worth seeing her face first ever gig uh that's how desperate people are with this Oasis tour they want to go and see their Heroes you got to think about Oasis and what they gave us in the '90s they soundtracked Our Lives you know songs like Wonder Don't Look Back in Anger is a song that's been used so many different times through Great Moments through terrible moments I don't think there's any argument that I mean that they were an iconic band absolutely and I remember the devastation from people when they split up 15 years ago I mean you know you you saw the television shots of you know people outside wherever they were in Manchester uh crying I mean genuinely crying their eyes out that these guys had split up um for you know as they did as a almost an inevitability in terms of those guys the the brothers not getting on um a danger that that happens again of course let's hope fingers cross that there is this Meme and it's very funny uh that somebody's doed this meme saying sorry oases have fallen out already and the concert's off well I suspect they they won't until the money's in the bank they what do we think about these ticket outs though and and the fact that you know there are clearly there's clearly a process that allows ticket outs to sit there through some kind of automation presumably and to buy hundreds and thousands of tickets and then immediately I mean literally there was the first batch the pre-sale that were launched yesterday within minutes they were on the likes of the viagogo site I've used the viogo site as an example by because they've actually come out with a statement defended themselves say hey free market yes some of these tickets are5 67,000 so what I kind of see what they're saying it's not VI goo's full um but the fact that there isn't a process in place that allows people that legitimately want to buy a ticket for 70 quid to be able to do that rather than the touts coming in buying those tickets for 78 quid and then reselling them for 20 30X yes I mean how do we stop this because this is this is upsetting well the only way to stop it and I spoke to Chris Bryant a couple of weeks ago go the labor MP he's in charge of kind of culture digital and he says that the law needs to change it's the only way you're going to get around this is T not illegal um at the moment no it's not in these in this process have issued a statement today saying we won't accept tickets that we think have been resold for greater than face value yes and now they are already well they're doing it themselves but but how they police that anyway I really don't know I mean actually I mean I know you're not here to do politic Steve I think the last thing we want is government intervention frankly uh I mean you know state sponsored ticket sales this this system doesn't work it was so simple Russell in the '90s you had a hotline number and I'm going to say I'm 960 years old now you had a hotline number and you redialed and you carried on redialing until somebody answered and said welcome to Wembley Stadium tiet but they got around that didn't they the having multiple phone lines set up so that they and they'd have presumably either through some automation again or through you some physical kind of um some physical kind of approach they just have people sitting there pressing Redal just to buy the tickets maybe there's never anything you can do about it but it does seem very very unfair on those that you know particularly that we we talk about a lot in politics cost of living crisis the fact that people have been squeezed a lot over the last few years one of the rest bites to this mad world of ours right now is to go and see a gig particularly something as wonderful as the Oasis for the UK some of these people now that might be earning you know a a not a substantial sum of money go and spend 3 four 500 quid to do so I saw a tweet earlier from someone saying I managed to get my oases ticket I don't really like them the only song I know is wonderful I thought that's I saw that I think the D reported on that they did they certainly did um I would say my advice is continue have faith there are still millions of people in various cues trying to get through but I'll also End by saying I hear there's going to be more gigs stay tuned as soon as we know it I'm back on with Trisha after 4 I will report back but I'm hearing I heard earlier this week that Wembley Stadium block booked block booked but by the promoters or by buyers themselves so so if they're already earning 400 million quid as you said between them I mean that could get towards a billion pounds course it could well hopefully they'll do it and they won't just do it Liam and null just for yourselves and your bank balance you'll do it so that anybody and everybody that wants to come to see you um as good as you are will be able to do so without having to pay viogo or somebody uh related to viogo £77,000 a ticket as some of them are actually going i' to fromone that's actually G and paid ,000,000 ,000 for a ticket because based on Steve say that there's rumors that there's going to be uh more gigs announced I mean one would imagine that those prices will come down if that Supply increases let's hope so let's hope so
