hello everyone and welcome you can sense it through the pageantry the tradition the electricity that permeates this place as we get set for a terrific game the Bulls will get us underway with the opening kickoff from inside his own 10 let's see what he gets nice job executing all of the assignments as they put a stop to that return at the 22 okay so here comes the offense for the first time today and there he is to this team's fans he is a heroic figure he is the guy who can lead them to the promised land this guy has been in big games in big moments and he's delivered for his football team it never seems like a situation is just too big for him this obviously is a huge game I cannot wait to see this guy can [Applause] on second down wants to throw it he finds his man turns it on in Midfield a huge play and they get it all the way to the 45 yd line first down here for the offense this time though go to the running game and it's just simple simple first down run showing your physicality setting your offense up in a good spot solid pick up of four on first down it's second and six he's looking to throw makes the grab over the middle and the catch was one thing and the Run even better a big pick up on that one wow the quarterback knew he had to get that one to his receiver quickly on the inra and you see the velocity on that throw spits it out to the back gets open down the middle oh and after the big gain the ball's loose that looks like a really easy thing to do oh the ball's just on the ground jump on it that's an odd-shaped ball that bounces all kind of crazy ways great job by the defense covering that thing up the offense set for a first down [Applause] play used the play fake now to throw and that incomplete pass caused by the big hit on first down second down coming well it was a good throw it was a good route but it was the hit that forced that incompletion still at their own 20 after that last incompletion it's second and 10 out of the shotgun they go to the ground he showed it all there a little elusiveness a little power and he's got the first down man who says you can't run up the middle anymore right everybody thinks I got to make big plays I got to go way out to the left way out to the right way out in space nope right down the middle nice blocking how about the running back you could tell the speed the wheels does a great job getting down the field making a huge rushing play he'll be stopped at the 41 but give him 10 on that play this defense is going to have to do a better job slowing down the Run we've seen twice now in this opening drive this guy break one and so this defense has to do a better job at the point of attack and their d-coordinator probably is already thinking to himself I have to get another guy in the Box to slow this guy down and the Bulls will have it first and 10 from the gun leaves it on the inside with the back he's knocked down in the back field he'll lose a couple most offensive schemes are predicated on first down productivity that will not go down as a productive first down Play No it will not reys give this defensive line credit cuz they were able to get penetration right off the snap and force a negative play didn't have much room to run and not a whole lot of help short game there and still plenty of ground to cover for the first down they've got a good chunk of ground to cover on Third and long from the 41 looking to throw it's bullet unleashes one can't make the connection on third down thanks to that tough hard-nosed pass defense and now it's Fourth Down the Bulls will punt this one away first time we've seen their punt team this afternoon on the move it's Bell that Nifty return sets up the offense and negates some of the yardage on the pun okay so here comes the offense returning to the field to the air on first down shoots it to the left a beautifully placed ball to the outside in the tow drag for the big pickup his offense lining up now at the 48 yd line on first and 10 finds his man down the middle and a really nice job by the wide receiver you run a drag route find Space they're in zone coverage they're not covering manto man find a little hole look at that QB y'all get in the same page you could tell they were and that's why they got the first down really nice stop there from this senior leader third down and they'll need to get the ball to the 38 yd line from the gun wants to pass looking to the big tight endend and this is going to be incomplete on third well the quarterback in his intended target just simply didn't have the timing there the ball Falls incomplete on third Now setting up fourth down it's fourth down and six and they'll try to convert let's go he'll try to throw and pick up the first down going to try to get it himself crosses the 30 he's got a away quarterback back gets pass to marker ease in for the touchdown I mean you talk about calling a pretty good defense you feel good about and you take away the pass and what does the quarterback do he pulls it down and just shows the speed basically becomes a running back takes it all the way to the house makes your defense look silly and with the extra point they get the first seven of the game a very efficient five playay scoring drive and that was a centilating way to finish that one a 44 yd touchdown run and no chance at a return here they'll start this drive at their own 25 Buffalo has it back let's see what the Bulls offense can do David the punter got some work last time they'd like to keep him on the sidelines in this drive yeah it's not something you want to say very often you don't want the punter out there this offense needs to get back lathered up and get a little bit more of a r best way to do that identify where your best players are and just get them the football give these guys some touches to Kickstart this [Applause] offense they'll give it to him again and they're able to shove him to the turf as they stop him for a short gain after the three- yd pickup they come to the line Second and seven quarterback on the keeper got enough for the first down and he's out of bounds after a terrific run and a nice pick up and the Bulls are in the hurry up well this is one of the fastest quarterbacks in college football and that's why the option's a good idea because if he can get out in space and he has a chance to get down field he is really difficult to tackle and he's very difficult to catch as you saw on that last play getting a first down linebackers have such an amazing responsibility got to play run got to play pass how about this seeing the Run aggressively getting downhill and getting in the back field and making the tackle for a loss got him downfield defense is there to make the stop but he's got the first down and they'll have it first and goal at the six this offense in scoring position with a fresh set of downs wide out in motion receiver on the Move gets the touch pass and into the end zone he goes touchdown Buffalo and what a nice STK for this offense the throw game getting working getting the touchdown pass this quarterback getting a little bit of confidence this passing game getting in a rhythm nice start for this [Music] offense lining up for the pat ex Point bangs it through for an extra point so that scoring Drive took only six plays and they get it into the end zone with a 6-y touchdown pass from inside the 10 yd line he'll bring it back nice job executing all of the assignments as they put a stop to that return at the 22 all right guys so here's the offense back on the field again the give to the back gets it out to the 25 yd line a gain of three oh man there's some big hitting going on in the trenches right now this defense they take a lot of pride in stopping the Run let's keep our eye on them throughout the course of the game and see if they can main this running attack on second down he's looking down field blasted as he lets it Go and works it to the 40 yd line that'll be a first down two set of downs after that completion wants to throw on first down off the play fake fires to the right he's got him wide open just carving up this defense and getting it down to the 24 on first down here comes this offense he's going to pass got his man down the middle they make the Stop and that's how the first quarter will end absolutely nothing settled deadlocked after one period of play as we have a look at the stats they bought to a stand still in the first let's see if someone can get the edge in the second quarter fresh set of downs after the complet he'll come out throwing on first down out of the back field he's open that completion has them right on the doorstep they'll mark it at the one going to work in the Red Zone they can't pick up the first down without getting it into the end zone and it'll be a touchdown and re's no secret about it line up in goal line formation I'm going to run the ball down your throat my guys are more physical than you and six points on the play and they tacked on the extra point lining up to cover the kick after that touchdown drive here he comes from inside his own five he was hoping for something a little more Dynamic but they get him on the ground at the 20 the Buffalo offense headed back to the field Jesse a very productive Drive last time wound up with a touchdown yeah mixing and matching play calling really well nice balance on that last one David see what they can do here in this next Drive yeah and I don't expect anything different when you put together a drive like that I would do more of the same keep the pace keep it going they're bringing heat and they get to the quarterback and knock him down back at the 16 playaction pass success has a lot to do with selling that thing you could tell defense was not buying it got in the back field got the big play a little screen to the running back and it's pretty obvious there was a big hole in that screen and the defense ran right through it the Bulls will punt it away on fourth down doesn't say much for your drive when you're looking forward to the punt running it back it's Bell slips through the line he turns like that or why you don't settle for the fair catch if you don't have to picks up just a little bit of yards to help out the O So guys we'll see this offense again they'll try the run a solid pick up there before the defense is able to make the stop got six on first down now a lot of options on second and four he's looking to throw grabbed in the middle it's more nice pitch and catch there and they'll have enough for the first down nice job by the receiver on the in route there and how about the speed after he made his break he was able to actually separate a little bit from the DB helping out his QB on that one unloads to the wide out and this will be incomplete a big hit there forces second down couldn't make the connection last time let's see if they throw it again hands it off he's dropped behind the line of scrimmage that'll be a loss of three that linebacker was a heat seeking missile and the heat that he sought was the ball carrier great job great fi linebackers are making all the calls in the defense and understanding when I need to come through that that Gap and come through with bad intentions those guys are usually 245 lbs of heat seeking missile they've already converted a fourth down in this game they'll try to make it two for two he'll try to throw and pick up the first down and it's incomplete way downfield and the defense Rises to the occasion here's this offense with a fresh set of downs to throw it's bullet that friends is a busted play incomplete couldn't make the connection on first down now here on [Applause] second he's looking to throw caught in the back field it's McMillan and the defense holds firm no pickup at all on that play now facing a third and long from the gun wants to pass buying some tie he's brought down but not before they pick up the big first down and the Bulls come to the line with a new set of downs hand off from the shotgun they can rely on this guy to pick up solid yardage when they needed and he's out to the 43 halfway there on first down it's second and five [Applause] give to the running back solid fundamentals on that tackle from this freshman you know I think a big part of this isn't necessarily scoring a touchdown on that plate but you're just trying to get your offensive line in the rhythm of the game let those Big Fellas get lathered up that's caught it's moral he's got enough to move the chain and they'll spot it at the 47 we reached the two-minute warning and we have ourselves a ball game they have a chance to take the lead here before the half the Bulls are rolling down the field he's looking to throw it finds the tight end nice quick throw there it's so important for quarterbacks to be able to find the Rhythm and to be comfortable and confident you want to just get the ball out quickly make it an accurate and easy throw and you could tell that these two guys they rep that play in practice all the time and it's now showing up here on no reason to panic when you see those extra bodies coming just find the big tight head well and the great ones do that I think the great ones are okay you want to Blitz I know my answers I'm all right I'll stay patient find the match up this time it was the tight end finds the tight end throws a strike gets the first down from the 17 yd line it's first and [Applause] 10 they're in the red zone and they'll pass it he's got it it on the move and he strides his way into the end zone touchdown Buffalo 13 yeah and the passing game comes through man and we need more of that in the second half an extra point away from tying this football game you trailed a little bit in the first half stayed calm if this passing game can continue to heat up look out in the second half bounces through the enzone it's a Touchback they'll bring it out to the 25 and the offense heads out onto the field get the drive started what a turn that last Drive was didn't pick up the fourth down and it led to the scoring Drive David yeah and those are frustrating cuz you think you might get points and then your defense gives up points this has got to be a complimentary football type deal the offense now needs to provide a little spark and give this defense some hope no doubt David they got to turn the page and they've got to play with a little bit more urgency here knowing they've got to get that one back put a good drive together big tight end tries to make a catch and you could tell extends to the ball but great job by the defender getting in there making the hit dislodging the football out as the same time as he's going nowh to go and the ball is loose well the offense ought to go buy a lottery ticket because that ball somehow bounced right back to them they'll keep it referee signals timeout it's the defense wanting to make sure that they have everything just right with a big play coming he's got great speed and the punt team able to smack him to the ground here comes the offense on first down they'll start this drive with a pass got his man quickly timeout called by the offense and now they just have one remaining in the half looking downfield it's Bullock and that pass will be jar loose on second down that brings up third down third down we'll see if the offense can move the chains after that incompletion on Third and short they'll try to pick it up with the pass snares it outside it's moral he threw that one with some serious Heat this senior quarterback doesn't need a lot of space to get it in there trying to find his man on first down throws to the wide out just masterful working that sideline and getting the toe down for the catch just a few seconds remaining here as they try to put something up before halftime it's hard to run a route or get lost near the sideline touchdown Buffalo and they made it to the house where they found that six points waiting on them number3 and I just love the execution by this offense late in the half man you want to take the lead you want to get that momentum on your side and they do it they finish it with the passing game I tell you what keep that passing game up you can keep this lead keep the momentum and keep putting up numbers and he takes this from inside the five he was looking for some Running Room but not much to be found as he stopped at the [Music] 18 just enough time for one final play in this half going up top on first down he's going for a big play downfield the pass Falls incomplete and that's how we'll finish this half first half in the books time now to join Kevin Connor in our halftime update gentlemen what else is new a spirited environment there in Amherst and the story of the half has been that Elite Corner we were told he was tough to throw against he's basically taken away an entire high side of the field when he's out there causing turnovers and getting physical how often do we say that about lock down guys and how this offense schemes against him in this second half will be fun to watch and with that let's head back to our team inside alumni stadium Buffalo has it back let's see what the Bulls offense can do they'll put this one in play first snap of the drive from the 25 [Applause] they keep it on the ground to open the third crosses the 30 to the 3186 yd gain I know it's sexy to throw the football but if you can pound it away and get these kind of gains they will just add up wear the defense down get first downs and ultimately get some points power football with the Run he's run out of bounds but not before turning in a big pickup and moving the sticks for a first down here's this offense with a fresh set of downs here's the handoff and I think they'll give him two on that one second and eight coming up and the defense doing a great job committing to the run when you commit to the run like this obviously you can give up some plays in the passing game but you got to stop the run first softened him up with a run now to throw with the catch it's McMillan and the first guy couldn't get him but the second one does but not until he picks up the first down and the bulls look to keep this drive humming easy from the gun they'll try to impose their running game what a good run there he has enough for the first down I think Jesse and reys could call offensive plays for any team if they're having this much success on the ground it starts with the ground game right like you can chew up these kind of plays then I can play action later on and take shots but right now defense has first got to stop the run game that's been chewing them up and they drag him down but not before he picked up the first down if I was the play caller this offense I would dial up plays like that a little bit more often I love the QB designed Run game especially with this guy because he's special in the open field he can make people Miss he can show you speed and he showed you on that big game right there caught behind the line it's Scott and that defense pushing him out of bounds after a short gain listen running backs are not just running backs anymore you're going to be a wide receiver in today's football and a great job sneaking out of the back field getting the football letting them get some POS to be hon that's what you expect from a senior don't give them any extra yards great tackle there Bo they love to pick up this conversion and go to work with a first and goal looking for a man it's bullet got it they will score touchdown Bulls like a Thanksgiving turkey they're just being caught no shot they have no idea how' he get in this quarterback's head he's on fire everything he's doing is working defensively we got to figure something out we got to try to do something a little bit different bring more pressure at this right shoot he's on so much fire you might as well just send everybody puts everybody look the results cuz everything else ain't working anyway and now the offense will come onto the field again the give to the tail back they bring him down and he's going to lose a yard on that one they're trying to run the ball on first down guys but just nothing doing up front their offensive line got blown up on that play there was nowhere for that guy to go didn't get much done on that first play of the drive it's second and 11 he'll try to do it himself he's brought down but not before he turned that into a positive play and picked up a few on the Run guys this offense is already reeling down multiple possessions really need to cash in on this drive grab near the sticks it's more able to work it to the 39 yd line and that'll be a first down here's this offense with a fresh set of downs looking to move it through the air coming after him and they're able to get him down it's just so nice to have a QB under Center nowadays in football you can trust these guys you put so much on their plate and you tell them go get positive yards when it's there and a lot of these guys are such great athletes they do it with ease he Midfield he's got room he will step out of bounds but not before the big pick up and a first down for this offense he wants to throw looking down the middle oh picked off God room on the return and they'll close in on him after a good return on the interception Zone equals eyes when I say that DB's line backers all covering the middle of the field so many guys over the middle of the field trying to take away the easy stuff but reading the quarterback's eyes the whole time whatever he breaks to throw that football and that nothing but green ahead inside the 10 and the catching right into the end zone touchdown Buffalo man how hard is it to defend when you have a weapon like this at running back that can play wide receiver you can design ways to get the football in his hand Palmer once you get in his hands he'll do the rest yeah no doubt I mean and often times those are easier throws for quarterbacks and these running backs they're just naturally so good when they have the football out in space their Vision their creativity their ability to make people miss and this guy showed you right there a difficult difficult guy to stop now after you're this defense moving forward a first down for the offense they're going to open this drive with a pass fires to the wide out he's got it and he gets it to the 35 yd line and that'll be a first down after the big play to start now they are on the move at their own 45 they'll throw it on first down unloads to the wide out catch in the middle it's more offense on the Move hey big play there gets it to the 30 nice play design on that one you make it easy for your quarterback too because it's easy to see what's happening right in front of you over the middle of the field you can see where Defenders are dropping you can see where the soft spots are in zone coverage and just a really nice job by the QB locating his guide making an accurate throw second and 10 he'll throw again this time it's complete they make the stop right there good pickup it's still short of the first down and I love when my quarterback sees Zone and knows exactly where to go with the football sees the wide receiver running the drag route fires the pass intercepted taking it the other way the 40 the 30 and they capitalize not only on the pick but the great return to give the offense tremendous field position looking for a productive play on first [Applause] down catch in the middle it's Scott and that is a tough assignment for a defense to cover back manto man who can get down field like that especially when he can run routes the way he does Rees I'm really impressed watching this running back with how he's able to cut and how he doesn't Telegraph where he's going throw to the end zone picked [Applause] off and he's brought down and this defense gets the ball back forito and that's just excellent cover man cover one nowhere to throw the football look at everybody playing man across the board you still got the same in the middle of the field nobody open and if I'm the QB man I don't need to force it I I Don't Force It In The Tight Windows if it's not there he throws it unfortunately and the quarterback is knocked down back at the 13 as they get set to snap it time winding down here in the quarter he wants to throw here on second down trying to get behind the defense and that is interception number three on the day and he is brought down but what a way to finish this quarter with the pick guys we've reached the end of the quarter and buffalo is on top let's take a quick look at the national rankings to see race is shaping up back at it to open the quarter with this first down play [Music] [Applause] he's going to pass can't find his man as he took a shot trying to deliver that football and it'll be second down I'm a little bit surprised they're still throwing the football here this late in the game with this kind of lead they're on first down taking a shot Falls incomplete but obviously they're still seeing matchups they want to take advantage of in the back end of this defense so they're letting it Fly and he's brought down after a nice game now down to the 12 yd line it's first [Applause] down pulls it and fires to the left and the defense had that one well covered just a short game there a great job by the defense seeing it right away reacting to the screen going and getting the football and getting the fast playmaker on the ground fast motion from the offense leaves it with the running back he's dropped behind the line scrimmage that'll be a loss of three boy they love to move the sticks here and take a shot at it on first and goal on Third and long he's going to have to throw for it touchdown Buffalo and the route is on there's no mercy rule in college football man theyve got a huge lead here in the fourth quarter they are still chucking it and they are still scoring and the extra point will tack another going on to this lead a very efficient five-play scoring drive and the score comes on a 12yd touchdown pass the kickoff team takes the field to boot this one away he'll start the return inside as five and the returner will be knocked down first down for this [Music] offense leaves it with the back good surge up front giv him four out to the 18 small gain I know but again the defense knows he's going to run the football he's willing to run the football not just drop back and pass make him on to the Run game you got to do a lot of this and he's tripped up but not before picking up the first down and I don't care if I get it by two by 20 by 30 by 40 I just I just want to get the first down understanding the situation understanding where the sticks are doesn't have to be sexy but I got to make sure I get to that stick get to the first down Mar crosses the 30 to the 31 and A6 yd pickup coaches always harp about staying ahead of the chains and when you can run with that type of efficiency on first down man you are doing just that pushes ahead for a couple they'll mark it at the 33 trying to pick up a first down they'll try to power their way ahead he gets it oh so close to the first down marker but I think he's going to be a touch short down in the fourth quarter it's too late for empty possessions they'll go for it on fourth down they'll get him down but not before he crosses the 50 he's down to the 49 maybe this will breathe a little life into this offense which has been flatlined in the second half here's first and 10 the give to the back runs through a tackle that run epitomizes a veteran Savvy senior who knows how to find Space they have just blooded their nose on this drive all on the ground it's first and 10 and he found plenty of Running Room on that one before the defense was finally able to get him down first and 10 they're down to the 25 they'll go to the ground not a whole lot of room there three yds maybe second and seven and this will be the ninth play of the [Applause] drive running back searching for a hole finally pulled down but not before moving the change for a first down well I know this is an offensive line that has a ton of Pride they want to come out each and every game and really impose their will on the D line they got just enough push there on that run play to pick up the First on First and 10 trying to strike from the 15 and these are these moments as a defense like you're just trying to get out of the game we're rotating we're subbing like we've stopped them all game long like they can run the football right here the biggest thing is the clock ticking us getting out of here with the dub and really everybody staying healthy and it'll be intercepted In The End Zone the number one objective for a defense is to make the offense onedimensional well when they're trailing by this much late in the game they're one-dimensional they have to pass the football we can bring more speed on the field you see it we know you're throwing the football nice break on the football nice interception this one's almost there and he doesn't find much Running Room a short gain on the play and I'm a fan of this man run the football eat the clock we got the lead this offense has put together a nice day man like just balance Rhythm timing play calling everything has worked that's why they've built this lead they've had a great day today out of the gun the inside hand off looking for a crease to the 43 yd line and a first down for this offense I think a big key in this team's success today has been their ability to run the football they've been able to just hand it off and go churn out yards they've had this defense on their heels all game long it's given them a big cushion in this game so far let's see if they can keep it up out of the gun the running back has it they bring him down and he's going to lose a yard on that one and sometimes for the defense it just takes one play right to create some momentum obviously this guy's been eating him up he's got over 100 yards rushing on the day finally David they get something positive here in the Run game defensively but you kind of know that coming in he's going to get his such a great back and he's had a great day need to put more plays together like that right there well some might think this head coach has a tough locker room speech after this one I would suggest that he starts with that's just f bad bad or as ree Davis would say UNG good just very ungood performance flush this one down the toilet move on it's not your best day you lost in ugly fashion to be honest but better days ahead I think a lot of this has to come on the shoulders of the players they need to be able to realize they just didn't do enough so they've got to turn the page they've got to go back to work have a great week of practice and put out A Better Effort next week that's and he'll be brought down at the 24 and now we'll get a look at this offense for the first time today when your quarterback takes the field you want him to look just like this guy exuding confidence yeah the it Factor he's the man nobody questions it everybody on this team knows they've got his back and he's the leader everybody in this stadium also knows the offense goes as this guy goes he has got to play well today looking to throw on second down trying to escape and get it himself turns it on in Midfield defense caught out of position and they get him down finally at the 38 get a big play like that last one you clip field you Chang the momentum now it's first and 10 from the 38 all kinds of room to throw that one in there nice throw great catch easy glide into the end zone for the touchdown and he's got the extra point and it's seven nothing to start this one almost ready to kick it away after scoring the touchdown he'll bring it out it's Middleton stopped at the 17 and he's probably second guessing that return so Louisiana's offense will go to work for the first time today as we take a look at our impact players for this one what are you looking for Jesse for a guy to make an impact well these are simply fo the leaders of this football team and generally games go how these guys play if they make plays they've got a shot to win this one no doubt they got to show up the these are the team leaders these guys have to play well if they're going to win the football game and the physical play there forces the incompletion on first down after the misconnection it's second down [Music] [Applause] scanning the field it's Fenley nowhere close on that one as he got drilled trying to deliver the football and now they face third down if they can convert here that type of play can really give you a shot of momentum on Third and long he has to throw for it oh he dropped it and what a missed opportunity early in this football game and the Raging cun send out the punt unit on the return it's Bell and they'll haul down the returner to start us on the next drive and the offense back on the field ready to dial up ball plays they'll crank up this drive with the pass fires toward the endzone and he's in for the touchdown lining up to add another and the extra point pushes the lead to 14 that drive not too taxing on the Playbook One play put it in the end zone just like that fielded In The End Zone it's [Applause] Middleton here comes the Louisiana offense on to the field to say this has been a slow start it's a bit of an understatement and they really need to get it going here Jesse that's right the opponent they're firing on all cylinders right out of the gate offensively for this unit they've been slow and struggling they need an explosive play to wake themselves up yeah and it's just the first quarter so it's not the end of the world you've seen slow starts but you got to continue to pick and pick and pick until you find that play or or that scheme that you can use against this defense and just a short safe pass play they pick up a few the Raging cun want to crank the [Applause] tempo looking to throw it's Fenley throws to the wide out they dialed up a shot play but they couldn't hook up and the Raging cun will bring the punt team onto the field this will be the second time they've had to kick it away he gets a block the solid return there offset some of the punt yardage and really sets up this offense nicely line gets set first down here we he's looking to throw it he's going to take off good little pick up there as he saw some daylight and got what he could they'll run this play from the pistol easy keeping it on the ground with the running back he's knocked down in the back field he'll lose a couple and a great job by the linebacker you can tell starting to crowd the line of scrimmage get up there in the line of scrimmage see it diagnose it get in the back field get the running back on the ground for the tackle for the loss they are on the move as they pick up the first down they'll spot it at the 28 here's this offense with a fresh set of downs off the play fake on first down to throw trying to make magic on the scramble and they'll shove him out of bounds after the short gain David given the fact that you are a devoted helmet head I'm not sure that you're aware there are a lot of other festivities around the bowl game did you ever experience any of that of course I'm a helmet head yeah a spot on agree with that but here's the thing we did a meate eating contest at the Outback goal my senior year which Squad could eat more steak from Outback it was AB absolutely amazing so I experienced that in all of its grou got some room headed to the goal line Sprints into the end zone for a touchdown he'll try to tack on one more and with the extra point they push the lead out a little further about to kick it away after scoring the touchdown looking for blockers and the returner Goes Down Louisiana has it back and the Raging cinjun offense headed to the field boy three and out last time David they'd like to be more productive this time around yeah in the last Drive nothing really clicked no rhythm got off the field really really quickly they need to put something together here T yeah David bad execution on that last drive so they got to take a collective breath and start playing like a unit on this one [Music] [Applause] he'll pull it on the read and he'll pick up one it brings up second and nine the Raging cun want to pick up the tempo wants to throw it's Finley using the back as a receiver on the screen they finally get him stopped but what a good job by that front wall to set up the screen and create some lanes for their running back great job too by the QB there holding the ball as long as possible allowing the pass rush to get up field and at the very last second into double coverage and they made him pay it's intercepted he was trying to get that return going instead he'll hand it to his offense at the 38 looking for a productive play on first down he wants to throw pressure coming and they couldn't hold off the heat and he goes down with a sack this is a good sign for this defense the rate they were going not touching the quarterback him already having two touchdown passes in the first half this was not going to be a fun football game to watch now they're turning the to oh the pouette gets him [Applause] loose football is very easy when the offensive line does their job like that I mean look at those holes back able to make a cut first down to the ground with the back not much working there it'll be second and nine I like feeding my guy I like getting my running back touches feeding the ball so he can break some of those big runs but I'm also okay with these little ones set the tone stay balanced he's got an open man and he picks up enough for the first down we'll see if they get another snap here in the first quarter [Music] and now a fresh set of downs for this offense they'll throw it on first down looking to the big tight end fires into traffic intercepted and the offense makes the tackle in frustration after the interception Drive comes up empty and it's a turnover well the defense came into this one knowing they needed to create takeaways to try to gain as much momentum as they could really nice interception on that play great job with the Eyes by the defender there picking that off and he was loose and in the open field and on his way a tremendous pick up on that one and as a defense how scary is it having to defend this guy he's one of the fastest players in America and you saw it on that last play it's not necessarily throwing him the ball over your head they just get to him quickly the hard part now is running and tackling that guy not easy to do well guys bowl season is here always fun to get these nontraditional and he's all bottled up and now it's worse the ball's loose picks up the ball and tries to make something of it well the offense is able to avoid disaster right there problem is they fumbled it but thankfully they were able to jump back on on and not have a turnover it is third and long let's see what kind of arm he's got third and long situation they try to go screen I think they were hoping it was going to be a big Zone and they could get those offensive lineman down the field but the defense sniffed it out forcing the incompletion he only needs a sliver of daylight and the coverage team gets the returner on the ground out comes the offense as they get set to take over they'll give it to the back able to pick his way forward for a decent game before the defense gets him down halfway there on first down it's second and five they go to the [Applause] ground let's see what they do on third down from the gun wants to pass a shot toward the end zone and it's intercepted a turnover from the defense this is obviously not a great start for this quarterback here two interceptions already in this game he's got to do a much better job with his decision making here comes the Louisiana offense onto the field they've gotten nothing done so far and they already find themselves in a three-possession hole Jesse yeah and as a coach you're wondering what didn't I say what didn't I do to get my team ready to go because we look like we're sleepwalking In This Moment nothing went well in the first quarter you just say refresh like let's try to find a way now chip into this lead try to make it somewhat manageable when we get to the half and the Raging cun in the hurry up one thing I've noticed from talking to coaches about their approach to bowl games is how many of them use it as a springboard for next season they try to focus on developing some of the new guys maybe that have joined them for the Bowl practices I mean you get 15 plus extra practices you start to play and experience more as young guys the older guys get a little bit more rest but yeah you're building the future you're building the foundation you're working on your Technique and you know what you also get to have some fun I think that's important for team building is having fun at your location doing the different things together to start to build that Unity that will make a big difference in the future yeah there's a saying in college football that your freshman year when you get to B full season you're no longer a freshman a lot of players grow up you get the extra practices mentally and from a confidence standpoint you turn the page I can remember back to my true freshman year we were getting ready to play Penn State we had a lot of NFL talent in my freshman class and everybody just seemed to grow a foot taller they were playing with a different intensity level that really paid off for us the next year One Step W twep squeeze this junior knows how to get him on the ground it's third down now and they ought to be able to get off one more play before the two-minute warning we've made our way to the two-minute warning and now they'll try to at least cut a little something off of this lead before the break on Third and long no secret what he needs here got his well it's a good decision by the quarterback and I know you didn't get the first down but the good news is you got a chunk of yards back now setting up fourth and short and giving yourself an opportunity to go for it here and keep this drive going and they'll mark this one at the 15 yd line and the offense takes over to dip into its Bag of ball plays mistakes are going to happen as they did on that last drive now how will they respond Jesse and this is the kind of guy who's going to take full accountability that going up top and that'll be incomplete they tried to hit him with a big one on first down after the quarterback and receiver couldn't connect its second and 10 he's looking to throw going back to the well another deep ball oh and he gets downfield for the mid catch and he's brought down after a huge completion the offense will have to use its first timeout of the half wants to throw on first down unloads to the right and it's incomplete if you're going to take a hit like that you might as well hang on to the ball offense gets set for second down they're going to throw it again and the pass is incomplete thanks to a big hit what a hit by the defender that's a good throw and that was going to be caught but how about the defender dislodging the football from its intended target nice job on third and long try to convert through the air and the DB forcing the incomplete pass with reflection this defense is heating up they got an interception in the last possession you can tell breaking on the football really really well seeing where the quarterback's throwing it going to try to get it got another hand on it almost had another interception quarterback floating away from pressure and it's batted away and the fourth down play doesn't convert they'll give up the football Louisiana has it back in the Raging cun offense headed to the field boy they've been caught in a buzs saw here in the first half but maybe a chance to carry some momentum into the break here it all comes down to this drive right here ree obviously this offense hasn't had everything go right for them in the first half but here's an opportunity David to execute some plays put some throws together generate some points and you're right Jesse and this offense needs to start now like we got to get some points on the board create some momentum and continue it cuz you've dug yourself a significant hope let me tell you this senior quarterback can flat fit it in a t right window comes out throwing on first down quarterback just flat missed it incomplete and now on second down for this offense to the air it's Fenley fires to the wide out and that's going to fall to the ground incomplete that was a physical match up there third down coming they line up with some serious work to do if they want to convert this one on third down he'll try to pick it up through the air and it's knocked away downfield the DB getting a hand in there the Raging cun will call on their punt team no return possible on this one it goes out of bounds and they'll mark it right around the 30yd line here comes the offense onto the field again they've got time they've gotten the lead and David is sort of like a doctor first Do no harm Do no harm but also momentum is hard to create and sometimes hard to stop you have it so Jesse don't do anything stupid to create some momentum for the other side and the defense is all over the quarterback and down he goes the offense quickly calls timeout to stop the clock this defense needed something to go right man they're down big already in the first half get to the quarterback get him on the ground this could start some momentum going back the other direction well the defender got his hands on that one tipped it up in the air and offense man they're lucky that one wasn't picked Ball's at the 27 this offense facing a third and long throws for the tight end he's got it gets it to the 46 yd line first down for this offense a new set of downs after the completion looking to go up top on first first down and there was nowhere to go for this quarterback and down he goes they'll immediately call timeout well for this defense finally you're seeing pressure on the quarterback they're outside the top 50 in sacks per game they've been waiting to find some more consistent pressure to help them win games and they're getting it in this game now three sacks on the day they're just simply winning and doing a better job executing up front at the point of attack I'm not POS ensi but that first down marker might be in the next County pocket starts to collapse here's a Timeout on the field tight game here late in the first half they bring the punter onto the field now a lowline drive and not his best work and that's where they'll spot it just inside the 45 running out of time here in the first half they're going to have to be efficient to put some points on the board before the break to the air on first down pass is incomplete and we dwindle down to 7 Seconds let's see what they've got on second down easy misfired on the last play they'll go back to the air and this is dropped incomplete pass he had a huge game in his fingers and he couldn't hold on well at this juncture in the game with how the scoreboard looks no question this offense is going to have to throw to get back in the game and it's going to be tricky now because the defense is expecting it you're going to going to take a shot into heavy traffic and it's intercepted and he'll be brought down and that's how we'll end the first [Music] half we played two quarters here here time to go to Kevin Connors in our halftime update guys a stirring start to things today in San Antonio as we say hello from our broadcast Studios and the story of the half has been that Elite Corner we were told he was tough to throw against he's basically taken away an entire side of the field when he's out there causing turnovers and getting physical how often do we say that about lock down guys and how this offense teames against him in this second half will be fun to watch and with that let's send it back to the guys inside the Elmo do all teed up and ready to go here in the second half fielded In The End Zone it's Middleton I know he thinks he can house re return but sometimes you just have to take a knee as he stopped at the 14 here comes the Louisiana offense onto the field while that first half certainly wasn't what they had in mind maybe a big comeback is in the offing here in bowl season and I think that's a nice way of saying they were awful in the first half they were terrible ball games you wonder about motivation one thing I know they were clearly not motivated PA now they didn't look focused at all in that first half David but this is a team that has a ton of talent if they can put it here together and in the second half they can close this season out with an exclamation point makes a stop at the 29 yd line but not before he gets 15 on that play and I love the awareness by the wide receiver on that play because I'm not sure that route was supposed to be that deep you got to wonder if the receiver decided maybe to adjust the route a little bit to make and the pressure gets to him down goes the quarterback when it's a playaction pass that quarterback he really has to sell the fake he can't tell his offensive lineman's getting beat right away while he's selling the fake he had no shot looking for a man it's Fenley fires to the big fella they make the stop but not before he takes a chunk out of what they need to move the sticks and the Raging cun hit it quickly to the [Music] line on third down going up top and the defense gets to the quarterback the third down offense has not been good and add this one to the T another third down stop they give up the sack they're down by three plus possessions nothing going this offense's way looking for a block it's Bell he was able to get that ball up to the 48 yd line before he stopped on the return offense getting set for first down they'll leave it with him and he'll pick up one it brings up second and nine stuck with a running game on first down now here they come again the GI to the back a 6yd pickup that leaves him with third and four trying to pick up a first down shotgun snap wants to throw it on third he's going to run it he gets it to the 38 yd line and they'll pick up a fresh set of downs offense set on first down they'll try the Run we'll give him a couple on that one second and eight coming up that's a really good job by the defense wrapping them up getting them on the ground take away that run game make them onedimensional put him in passing situations really good job by the defense brought down at the 30y line it's a gain of six well this offense came into the game knowing they wanted to be physical they wanted to establish the line of scrimmage and they're running downhill right at this defense and they're turning out positive yardage early working their way closer and closer a third down conversion and they've got it at the 26 no big secret what they're trying to do here they've kept it on the ground it's first and 10 trying to make magic with his feet he's finally stopped but a big play there with his feet as he moves those sticks well he does a really nice job buying time and I love the awareness there understanding no one's open down field knowing where the sticks are and he's able to use his athleticism to get that and the heat gets there and they get him down at the 14 yd line and you try to catch him off B down goal right here a situation where maybe you sneak in a pass defense was ready got the sack now now you got to be a little bit more creative now that you got the negative play the offense I know you've worked this all got enough space saunters into the end zone for a touchdown that drip to the end zone is 25th career touchdown man he's been productive just has a nose for the End Zone this dude's made big play after big play for his offenses and that's 25 touchdowns Palmer on the ground for the big cover pretty impressive too when you consider when you get close to that end zone the defense is expecting run they're loading the box and still this guy's been able to find his way in 25 it's a nice number really disciplined job by the coverage unit to get down there and make the stop at the 19 Louisiana has it back and the Raging cinjun offense headed to the field that last Drive fizzled out Jesse they had to punt it yeah they did and David they're just going to have to do a better job this time around erasing the mental mistakes and just trying to solve the defensive riddle understanding what they're trying to do to you and attack them it's complete hit the afterburners kid big big gain on that one as he steps out of bounds with a first down here's this offense with a fresh set of downs they're going to run it not much working there it'll be second and nine and sticking to the run I tell you what a lot of teams that are really good are really stubble and they continue to run the football even with little success so this offense is going to continue to focus on running the football you can tell got his man on the right and he'll take it all the way they couldn't bring him down touchdown CES when that receiver got three it was all over and it's so nice to have a receiver like this as a quarterback cuz you add my stats I like those long touchdown passes where I just threw it really short and he did the rest of the work the extra point is good but they're still down 287 about to kick it off after punching it in for the touchdown looking for an alley from inside his own T he was hoping for something a little more Dynamic but they get him on the ground at the 20 they'll come to the line 90 seconds to play here in the third give to the running back into the pile maybe got one he stopped at the 21 didn't get much on first down it's second and nine he's looking to throw tight end finds a soft spot there to make the tackle but the big throw is good enough to give them a first down here's this offense with a fresh set of downs he'll come out throwing on first down they're trying to get to it the quarterback tried to scramble around for a while but the defense able to bring him down first down sack pushes it back now it's second down power football with the run a strong tackle and wrap up from the junior ball is at the 41 as this defense tries to force the punch on Third and long from the gun wants to pass makes the catch it's more and they stop him just short of the stick it'll bring up a decision on fourth down the punt team makes its way onto the field this will be the second time they've had to kick it away takes it on the return and the coverage team able to make the tackle [Music] first snap of this drive comes from the 32b the give to Davis he's knocked down in the back field he'll lose a couple and here comes the offense on second down [Music] one more period to go and we'll see just how much fight they've got left in [Music] them will start the quarter offense about to snap it on second down back to pass it's Finley and he throws another interception his third one of the night finds the finish line for the touchdown and that just might do it man offense needed points needed points badly defense comes up with the big interception takes it all the way back just a pad their lead a little bit and make this game almost almost Out Of Reach and the extra point sails through and they have a 357 lead and they thought about a return Then thought better of it they'll bring it out to the 25 here comes the lisiana offense onto the field well the good news is they threw a touchdown pass last time it was just to the wrong team Jesse and the ball comes out what a disastrous play oh the fumble in the defense got it and the quarterback just ran out of time there and they were able to knock it free quarterbacks have got to do a great job keeping hands on the football especially in passing situations like that because you know Defenders are swatting at the ball even if you can't see them these guys they 65 66 they've got long arms they're trying to rip and tug away and get that ball out of your hands that QB will learn from this play he's got to do a better job with the fundamentals hey get him on the ground didn't see anything downfield but made a little something out of it well great job there by the defense because they weren't able to get him sacked right away but you saw the coverage in the back end nowhere for the quarterback to throw the foot football didn't get the sack obviously you don't get the negative play but you also don't give up a big one you're feeling pretty good about where you are right now in this drive he got it they'll get him stopped just short of the end zone but they're in business here with a first down perfect timing to call that pass Play It's third and short down here in the Red Zone everybody in the stadium expecting you to run the football and if you don't get it maybe you kick a and he's got a touchdown they'll try to attack one more on their score the kick is up and good and put one more on the lead quick work on that scoring drive just four plays and they capped it off with a one yd Pune he'll bring it out it's Middleton stopped at the 17 and he's probably second guessing that return Louisiana has it back and the Raging cinjun offense headed to the field that last fumble proved to be costly as they cashed it in for a touchdown yeah and so this defense now is Juiced they're excited and ready to go this offense David they've got to get something going yeah those turnovers can be contagious man it get you excited and then when your offense takes it down the field and does something with it this offense better be ready to play against a motivated defense and the pass is incomplete Jarred Loose by the hit that last incomplete pass has him staring at a third and three they're going to go to the air on thir and short he's got his man and he's knocked down immediately but not before he moves the chains the Raging cun come to the line with a fresh set of downs relo trying to find his man on first down almost had the completion just missed it well this guy must feel like he's run into a buz saww in this game he has been under rest all game long and that's a big reason why he's thrown multiple interceptions in the game too nothing coming easy to him it's hard to see the field when your internal clock is going off so fast because of the pressure of this defense and that's why they find themselves down by so much here in the fourt man it's so important when you play QB I got to know when to put some air on it and I got to know when to rocket that thing in there work in the middle of the field he knew he needed the rocket threw it in there great job great catch caught near the sidelines he'll pick up a few before going out of bounds using him out of the slot he has just been Unstoppable and I love putting Dynamic athletes in the slot that I can move around that I can put in motion that I can I can make him go in or out I can put him off the ball so you can't get hands on him and they've really featured this guy today it's a nice adjustment by the defense here with a big lead in the game you're putting extra DBS on the field knowing the offense has to throw to get back in this one in the fourth quarter so your best cover guys on the field and they force an incompletion on the last one he almost had another one they've already picked off three and just a hair away from number four there and the Raging cun decide to punt it away looking for a block it's Bell they'll get him corow and down at about the 19 yd line first down here for the offense yes sir they'll run it trying to drain time off the clock and excellent Vision to find Running Room there and make a really good pick up before the defense put a stop to it and this is exactly what you want to do when you're on offense you have the lead you want to chew the clock keep the ball on the ground keep that thing just ticking Palmer they're just imposing the will dve and that's something that we've seen I think all game up front they've been the more physical team they're the ones that's getting push and that's getting movement and it's carrying over all the way here deep into the fourth quarter really nice stop there from this senior leader well we are winding it down guys only a few more plays left in this season and also wrapping up a really outstanding performance for this offense yeah and they're sending out the seniors on the right foot guys we've seen a lot of great football there been so many tremendous moments and individual efforts David this is a year in college football I know I'll never won't forget it Lov working with you guys love being in the booth love covering these football games I tell you what a lot of excitement in college football surrounding the sport man let's just keep loving on with the first down they'll put it in play from the [Music] 33 might as well give it to him again they bring him down and he's going to lose a yard on that one so first down didn't exactly go according to plan let's see what they can dial up on second down I got him right where I want him okay I'm going to throw the football now I can get back in shotgun forget the running game stuff we're going to play a little pitching Ki and he's running in the open and he has vexed this defense with scramble after scramble has another first down his offense lines up feeling awfully good after that big play and they're going to put another one into the end zone as they just keep piling points on the scoreboard and this always is the debate of where you fall it's your job to stop me or I should get conservative cuz this offense obviously has had themselves a day and apparently their day is not over they're going to continue to keep scoring and the defense better do something about it coming out with it it's Middleton gets it out to the 20 about five yd short of where he'd be if he had just taken a knee in the end zone here comes the Louisiana offense onto the field this has been a really disappointing performance David no question about that but they can find some positive yeah and every time you watch the tape you know Jesse coaches are pointing out look at this this was open if we had just ran the details to the right route hung on to the football little things can make a big difference yeah that's why they call it a game of inches David but I'll say this if you're on offense don't go on so he's got it on the right off he goes the 10 and he'll take it in for the touchdown won't have much impact on the outcome of the game but it is a fabulous part the consolation prize if you will and this has been a rough day for this offense and finally some good things to happen build some momentum maybe for the future you know that's that's the way the coaches spin it when you're getting beat up and you're getting destroyed like listen let's find something for the future let's keep fighting let's keep working this team's done that put some points on the board so it's not all bad so guys we'll get another look at this offense they're in command of this game now let's see if they tried to rub a little salt in the wound or happy with getting the W yeah and listen this this makes the postgame handshake fun sometimes if you do choose to rub a little salt in it and keep chucking and keep scoring I'm here for it Jesse like your job is to score points it's my job to stop it keep the foot to the accelerator keep trying to play ball I agree 1,000% that's like Steve sper back in the day when I was playing for the Gators you go and play for him because you want the opportunity to to throw the ball so when you get in the game late you're not handing it off we were beating Central Michigan by 80 something points he was still letting us throw the football it's the defense's job to stop and they'll pick up the first down and Mark it at the 47 and that's all you want right you want that first down understand the situation understand I got to get North and South get a first down get a new set of downs the offense will put it in play from the 47 on First and 10 and he is swarmed under a host of Defenders there make the Stop and the defense is still fighting they they haven't had the day that they dreamed of you know talking to the coaches coming into the game like they thought they had a good plan they'd be ready to attack and and and limit some of the damage this offense has done they haven't done it today though they got to go back to the drawing board figure some things out cuz this wasn't a great day after the last run would you just give it to him again on third down tackled but he has a first down well the defense knew coming into this one it was going to be a physical game guys are going to have to be great at the point of attack and get off blocks and make tackles couldn't stop the offense from picking up that first down on that one play and the defense makes the stop after a minimal gain when you know you have a team out clast the ability to play to that standard and finish with a blowout like this is really impressive and it's almost like playing against yourself right you know you're better you know you're going to win the football game but how do I continue to still execute this this was so easy great execution a just beat down in every facet I think as a player you just love being in such great Rhythm and we saw that right from the get-go in this game offense just able to matriculate the ball down the field defense was not giving anything up what a great game plan coming in and this was just
