when they hear Sandstorm and serve big Spurs starts getting those claws sharpened Williams Bry Stadium comes alive in support of their South Carolina game c what a game and what potential drama we have in store you've seen this script before top 10 team goes into a cauldron of emotion on the road and just hopes to be able to get out and tell about it as we'll see a team coming off a crucial bye the NC State will pack taking on a squad hoping to prevent another L this week the South Carolina game cop for EA Sports college football I'm ree Davis joined here in the grp as Way by David Pollock and Jesse Palmer guys let's tee this one up the gamec will get us underway with the opening kickoff and he'll just take a knee and this drive will start at the 25 they challenge this crowd to bring the energy and I'd say they're doing that hand off to the single running back banging slithering whatever it takes to get that ball up to the 32 these guys have really performed at a high level in SEC play and the task is to try to keep this groove going yeah when you start the season like this man this is exactly what you drew up win your conference be great in your conference get to the conference Championship I'm not putting the cart before the horse palmer but great start no doubt to win the SEC is a long road you know about that I know about that personally they just got to take one game at a time they've done an outstanding job of doing that this [Applause] year this crowd trying to make life miserable for this offense they'll throw on Third and short trying to make magic with his feet Nifty little Scamper on this one enough for the first down and he slides in safely sometimes you just got to give credit like we had it covered we knew it was a pass uh cover everything covered underneath but the quarterback does such a good job of making that second play something special pulling it down getting the first down pretty easy they'll throw it on first down they're working that left side they make the stop but this passing game does some damage and they move the sticks with the first down ever since they invented the forward pass the tight ends have been running the drag and getting the first first down I think it's because the tight ends so much versatility you know they can block and stay in the formation or they can release and come out but either way if the quarterback's patient most of the time that drag route's going to come under and the pass is intercepted trying to take it back inside the 10 touchdown Gamecocks the defense put six on the board with a big time interception turn they'll try to add another to their lead and the pat makes it 7 nothing they're about to kick it away and the defense probably can't wait to get back out there after the pick six no return coming he'll call for the fair catch NC State sending the offense back onto the field this possession will be a test after squandering that long drive throwing a pick six Jesse you're right reys well I think this is really dependent too on the leaders in this huddle right now to step up and help this offense get back on Pace here on this drive yeah and this defense is frothing at the out they're excited they're jacked up they just made a big play they got all the momentum so they're ready to hunt looking to throw it's Mcall going deep oh and he gets downfield from the big catch off he goes touchdown Wolfpack and once he got away from the D they had no shot at catching him quarterbacks love receivers that can get separation but that amount of Separation uh is a little excessive I agree Ree and I think the defense needs to have a little powwow on the sidelines and talk about what just happened because that was an absolute busted coverage on the back end defense can't keep playing that all tied up just about set to kick it away you'll call for the fair catch here the offense lining up for a first down play he leaves it with his back picks up a useful 5yd chunk out to the 30 yd line and the game talks headed quickly to the line finds the ti end he will step out of bounds but not before the big pick up and a first down for this [Applause] offense linebackers trying to create some confusion and the running back didn't get much there nice jop on the defense you can tell they're focused in on this running back on this run game being physical knock backs and limiting his carries they're trying to get to it got a man it's Campbell they make the stop after the catch and still some work to do to pick up that first down in the dead center of the field as they try to convert his third and short they'll try to bully their way for the first got room at the 35 good execution they moved the sticks and they've got it at the 33 def is going to have their hands full trying to get this guy in the ground man he's got some serious moves once he has the ball in his hands the Gamecocks are on the Move looking to move it through the air feeling some heat he's going to take off they'll rip off eight on that play it's second and two it's just so nice to have a QB under Center nowadays in football you can trust these guys you put so on their plate and you tell them go get positive yards when it's there and a lot of these guys are such great athletes they do it with ease got his man in the middle he is tackled but it'll be a fresh set of downs and I love when you understand when I'm supposed to put some RPMs on that football you could tell he's thrown over the middle of the field he knows he's got Defenders there I got to throw this thing in there quick fast in a hurry nice job by the quarterback with the catch it's Simon gets out of bounds after the big game but they've got it first and goal new center Downs right on the door step for this [Applause] offense they'll run it on first and goal they bring him down and he's going to lose a yard on that one just nothing doing on that last run and they knew coming into this one they were going to be challenged right this is one of the best defenses in all of college football for them to have any shot they're going to have to do a lot better running the football dropping back it's sers snags it he gets it in touchdown South Carolina lining up to tack one more onto that lead and the extra point is true and they're on top by seven about to kick it away after scoring the touchdown [Applause] and they desperately wanted to attempt the return but decided not to instead they'll take the touch back North Carolina state has it back in the offense headed to the field after standing on the sideline and watching that long touchdown Drive they really need to put something together to give their defense a rest and that's a real thing man like you played a lot of plays you get worn out you need a chance to go decompress on the sideline get some oxygen Palmer now it's on this offense yeah this is the definition of complimentary football cuz it's a two-prong problem you've got to score points and answer but you've also got to take your time and give your defense an opportunity to get their win he's brought down but there's a flag on the field let's see which way that's going to go so the decision has been made and the coach will take the penalty you want to be physical with the quarterback but you can't give up those ring passer penalties it's first and 10 power football with the run and is slipped out defense coming up with a huge fumble recovery and he's brought down and this defense gets the ball back for its own on first down here comes this offense little touch pass to the receiver and this one will be stopped for No Gain I like offenses being creative I'm not sure that was the best place to call that play I think this offense needs to think about just doing things a little bit more by the book they've got a lot of good Playmakers you don't have to reinvent the wheel this early in the game one step W twep squeeze this junior knows how to get him on the [Applause] ground that's the end of first Carolina 14 NC a third down play to get the quarter started quarterback checking the play back to throw it's sers and it's incomplete despite some serious arm strength shown there and the Gamecock will send out the punt he gets his first one of the day out of there they used him three times in that lost last week nowhere to run and nowhere to hide that his coverage just the way they designed it and they've got him backed up NC State sending the offense back onto the field when you're playing from behind you can't afford to give it up the way they did the last Drive David no doubt you cannot give the football away again turnovers the biggest stats in winning and losing games you're behind Palmer take care of the ball but we got to go get a score yeah and they just got to do a better job executing I like the game plan so far for them but they just need to go out and do a better job connecting the dots got his Man Down field and they'll finally catch up to him but not before a big chunk of yardage is picked up nice catch by the big tight end nice job holding on to the football getting the first first down but I tell you what I love the physicality by the defense I love how they're making him pay every time he catches the football later on he might be less likely to want to reach his arms out there and try to catch that thing gives it to the back on the draw still on his feet at the 45 they wrestle him to the ground but he's got plenty for a first down and I love these offensive coaches going right back to your guy I believe in you just because you fumbled doesn't mean not going to give you the football yeah he's repaying the favor right now to this coaching staff as well and doesn't it just seem like he's running with a little bit more juice he looks like he's ticked off sometimes people say if you're good enough what's the big deal about going on the road well if you're not careful you might find out in a spot like this one guys yeah no doubt about it this is a hostile environment and you know you're going to be getting the opponent's aame for this one they've C and he breaks into the open he's run out of bounds but a big play on that one and it'll be first down and there was no question in that scenario that's where the quarterback was going he knew he had his receiver in a match up that he liked running a route where he would find himself opening nice job between those two snagged in the middle it's water and they knock him down but he got past the line to gain you know it's a nice throw by the QB there when you're throwing to running backs you got to make it easy on them so you want to put it right on their body make the catch simple and let them go to work like they did just there getting that first NC State with the first and 10 here from the gun they'll try the middle not a lot of daylight there let's give him one to the [Applause] 14 going to work on second down in the red zone is still some ground to cover to pick up that first down looking downfield it's mcau going for six he makes the catch the Z touchdown North Carolina State well they started with horrible field position but ended with perfect field position in the middle of the End Zone it all comes down to execution ree you've got to have guys going out and doing their jobs you saw the offensive line up front there were physical skill players made it happen with the ball in their hands and the quarterback really showed command on that last Drive South Carolina ready to go on the attack in another offensive Odyssey boy three and out last time David they'd like to be more productive this time around yeah in the last Drive nothing really clicked no rhythm got off the field really really quickly they need to put something together here yeah David bad execution on that last drive so they got to take a collective breath and start playing like a un he'll move it up to the 37 yd line and it'll be a first down here's this offense with a fresh set of [Music] downs wants to throw on first down off the play fake fires to the tight end and a pick up of eight opens a world of opportunities on second and two well it's a nice job to the quarterback after the play fake there getting his eyes down the field he had to get that to his tight end quickly knowing he wasn't going to have a lot of space to run with after the catch really nice stop there from this senior leader the Gamecock are in the hurry up on Third and short the power run here brought to the ground but not before getting enough for the first down the clock has stopped and we've reached a two-minute warning before halftime and the game CS are marching down the field to the air it's sers still looking on the move and they couldn't hold off the heat and he goes down with the sack if you had a DB on the bingo card for the first sack of the game you win man and I've been here before reys like I can hear the the trash talk right now like wait a minute I got to cover everybody in the back end and I'm going to get sacks like hey defensive line you want to get me some sacks or I I guess I'll do it myself they'll rush to the line clock stopped for the first down they'll set the chains and wind the clock now the quarterback changing the original play call trying to find his man on first down he'll take a shot broken up incomplete and nearly intercepted In The End Zone it'll be second down man that's great defense break on the football make sure they don't get the touchdown but those are the opportunities you have to just pull that in make the big play stop the bleeding they had a long drive and really shift that momentum back to your and that pass will be Jarred loose on second down that brings up third down big tight end tries to make a catch and you can tell extends for the ball but great job by the defender getting in there making the hit dislodging the football out as the same time as he's going to catch it and the big tight end couldn't hold on to it on Third and long he's going to have to throw for it excellent job working through the air there finding a hole in that defense and picking up a first down that was a nice pick up running the drag route and finding that quiet soft spot in the zone yeah drag routes not only work against man coverage they work against zone two if you can find the soft spot and the quarterback gets it to him early he can turn up field and you saw that right there on first down from the 13 yd line the running back has it and into to the end zone touchdown Gamecock and they add six more to the board with that to the house and that is exactly what you want from your offense man late in the half you want to execute and then punch it in physically on the ground take the lead go into the half take all the momentum nice execution on the drive by that offense lining up to cover the kick after that touchdown drive fair catch called for and made North Carolina state has it back on the offense headed to the field now they need to put something together to answer that last score there's a lot of pressure too on this offense to have to execute at a high level they've got to score points David but they can't go too fast because their defense right now is TI and I think that's the difficulty being a play call like I have to balance all of those things my defense is a little bit tired I can't put on the field but I got to be aggressive because this is a back and forth type game so a lot to process and think about looking for a man it's Mcall coming after it hit hard as he released the ball on that first down pass and it never had a chance doesn't take this defense a lot of time to get to the quarterback man they've got speed all over the place they hit him so quickly and because of that the ball Falls incomplete and now on second down for this offense after the incompletion back to the passing game and the defense is all over the quarterback and down he goes timeout called here by the defense is the first one they've used this [Applause] [Applause] half Ball's at the 27 this offense facing a third and long looking to throw and he needs a bunch oh he wants it all what a SN tag by the defense he'll try to take it back and they capitalize not only on the pick but the great return to give the offense tremendous field position this is obviously not a great start for this quarterback here two interceptions already in this game he's got to do a much better job with his decision [Music] making and the South Carolina offense is back on the field that last drive an absolute aerial assault for the touchdown Jesse it was a nice job in play for him too David just giving the quarterback some easy looks and reads so he could go out and and he knew exactly where to go with the football everything looked really really easy he was hot the ball was coming out of his hands the defense better do something different going up top on first down pressure coming and good coverage there to knock it away and deny the score there's a lot of QBs that when they get hit and when they get hurried and when they get pressure they become very average really nice job by the defense pressuring the quarterback looking to throw it's sers pocket starts to collapse quarterback now on the Run still looking trying to escape and get it himself nice run there to keep things moving before force him out of bound well great job there by the defense because they weren't able to get him sacked right away but you saw the coverage in the back end nor for the quarterback to throw the football didn't get the sack obviously you don't get the negative play but you also don't give up a big one you're feeling pretty good about where you are right now in this drive got his man quickly they'll use a timeout right before halftime maybe time for one or two more plays just a few seconds remaining here as they try to put something up before halftime he's looking to pass quarterback adapted and it'll be intercepted in the end zone and stampeding through the defense inside the 50 the 30 the 20 10 and he's going to take it all the way touchdown wolf this time it's the defense finding ways to put points on the board there is nothing better than being a Defender seeing that ball in the end zone eyes get big as saucers go jump on that puppy security gets you a touchdown and the extra point was made without incident and we're tied up here in the third that's going to wrap up the first half here and now we join Kevin with a halime update North Carolina state will kick it off to open the third quarter not going to risk a return here he'll make the fair Catch South Carolina ready to go on the attack in another offensive Odyssey first drive of the second half always fun to watch you see what type of tweaks were made at the half especially when you're locked up in a ball game like this one yeah and it's been a good game I mean it's been a little bit of back and forth in a feeling out process and now once you get in the second half who's going to get aggressive Palmer who's going to take some shots try to make some plays and really go for it yeah it's interesting I think as play callers right now you learn a lot about these coaching staffs with respect to who does make the best adjustments there's a lot of coaches that believe trying to get behind the defense wide open he makes the catch R out of bounds just before he can get it into the end zone and now they're set up first and goal [Applause] they'll try to get it in with the Run they bring him down and he's going to lose a yard on that one well there's a statement by the defensive line first down play expecting run and they just dominated up front beat their one-on ones and force a tackle for a loss defense rose up deep in its own end on that last play now a second and long coming touchdown game and that one will give him the lead this defense is going to have to do a better job being physical that's two rushing touchdowns they've now allowed they have got to be better close to the line of scen and the extra point is true and they're on top by seven about to kick it off after punching it in for the touchdown no return coming he'll call for the fair catch NC State sending the offense back onto the field after throwing the pick on the last drive need to take care of the ball this time Jesse we're going to find out a lot about this quarterback right here too how does he fight through adversity after that last Drive yeah clear the mechanism move on that's a part of it right if you're going to be a great player you got to learn how to handle these mistakes and move on the Run game just has not been working for this offense all game long we saw it on that last play as well just not getting enough push up front on the offensive line they haven't been physical enough throw throws to the wide out got him downfield and he'll get it up to the 38 it'll be a first down throwing the comeback looks like such a simple throw but the timing is so important and as a quarterback man this is all about trusting your guy you know exactly where he's going to sit at and that pressure just engulfed him a sack for this defense what a nice answer by this defense you give up the big play you respond right back you get the sack create some momentum for your side nice job by this defense staying with it that is the last thing you want on first down as an offensive sack now it's second down getting some heat finds his big tight end finally run out of bounds but he has his offense rolling with a first down they flexed out that tight end a little bit and you know the tight end's always open always open quarterback's best friend and guy's a problem Rees he's a matchup problem because he's too big for DBS to cover and he's too fast for linebackers to cover he's showing you his athleticism there now they'll run the draw they bring him down and he's going to lose a yard on that one and they sniff that draw out well draw you you really have to sell that pass like you're going to throw the ball down the field but the defensive line the defense was not biting it you could tell they were ready for it came got on the running back got him on the ground quick fast and he's brought down solid pick up but a little bit short of the first down a really nice job by the wi receiv you run a drag route f space they're in zone coverage they're not covering manto man find a little hole look at that QB y get in the same page you could tell they were and that's why they got the first down got it in the middle it's concep he knew exactly where he wanted to go with that one and they've got enough for the first down and on that third and short I don't think he was unhappy to see that zone nope it's a great job by the offense hey see where the holes in the zone are sit down you only need a little bit of yards on this third down get the conversion move the sticks off the play fake on first down to throw makes the catch and he will score touchdown NC State that's number two on the day having a day I mean you know he's going to catch the football and you know he's going to make plays after he catches those are the kind of guys that you feature and you find them and they produce like this you keep finding them and let's check in with Kevin Conor's in the studio Kevin guys let's recap that ranked on ranked matchup that has just gone final Oklahoma State proved it is Battle tested and capable of winning any place any time after this one and just now they'll line up for what they hope is automatic and the extra point splits the upright there up 3528 that kind of Drive will boost your confidence One play hit the big pass put a touchdown on the board the kickoff team out there getting [Applause] set he call for the fair catch here North Carolina state has it back on the offense headed to the field and David how they would love to stick it in the end zone one more time after that one and he throws another interception his third of the night those kind of plays can be huge for momentum even with the short return they're set up at the 45 they've got the Big Fellas out there a three tight end look on First and [Applause] 10 the give to the running back from the shotgun and you can forget running in the middle against this defense great job by the defense everybody firing off the ball their guys holding their gaps running to the the ball nowhere to go got stuffed on first down it's second and 10 they'll run the option he'll pitch it and listen if it ain't broke don't fix it I I mean I love teams that commit to the run and when it's successful keep running the rock yeah David I think this offensive line right now they've got a ladder going they're really sort of getting in the groove and flow of this game they're just getting tremendous push the point of attack it seems like every single time they decide to run the ball to the air it's sers fires to the big fella he's there to make the stop but the damage has been done as they pick up the first down on the throwing and catch the Gamecocks are on the Move touch pass on the Jet Sweep each brought down but he went backwards after that comption not the way they had it drawn up last play was a near disaster now dealing with second and 13 the receivers often will run their route based on the side adjustment release to the back makes the grab it's Sanders he gets it all the way down to the 5yd line a terrific catching line before he stopped and when this quarterback is in a rhythm this offense is really hard to stop you seen that on this drive he's three for three but they're also running the ball well everything they're dialing up right now is worth fires into the end zone and he's got it touchdown game cop they'll try to add another to their lead and the extra point pushes the lead to 14 they made sure that good field position paid off going 45 yds and the score comes on a 5yd touchdown pass fair catch called for and made time for one more snap before the end of the quarter they'll throw it on first down looking to the big tight end makes a connection they bring him down he's got a first down but that might be the final play of the third quarter here's this offense with a fresh set of down that's the end of the third Carina 42 they'll break the seal on this quarter here on first down he's looking to throw it fires left and wings it incomplete and I tell you what I know it's little QB's Miss and the ball's not right to them but man it makes such a difference with yards after the catch and in this case even catching the football it was just a little bit off and it just made it a little bit difficult for his wide receiver to try to make the catch they'll try again on second down after the incompletion dropping back it's Mcall oh he's ready to take a shot got it inride inside the 20 and a pickup of better than 30 yards on that completion before the defense brings him down Wolfpack with a first and 10 here they're threatening to score and they'll throw it he snares it in the endzone touchdown wolf pack so they get that score that they so desperately needed and now they've got a chance to pull this one out defense has got to give him a chance the defense need to get the ball back to them quickly so they can March down the field and try and score and narrow the Gap again this offense they have The Playmakers to come back and win this football game they're going to need some help from the defense two-point conversion attempt is on the way they'll go to the air trying to get to it and he got smacked just as he released the pass it's incomplete almost ready to kick it away after scoring the touchdown [Applause] 3 and they thought about a return Then thought better of it they'll bring it out to the 25 and the South Carolina offense is back on the field they believe they can run right here they got him down at the 40 after he ripped off 15 yds nice run I think everybody knows he's right there next to that 100 yd Mark 98 ydd on the day and that's a mark man when you hit that Mark A lot of times and you take care of the football you win a lot of football games it's the more physical team it's the team that makes it easy makes it easier on their quarterback and they've done that today couldn't find anybody to throw to he'll just toss it away it'll be second down couldn't make the connection last time let's see if they throw it again wide receiver shows motion headed for the corner on the Jet Sweep he's got R and that's the impact of having a quarterback with a ton of speed you see how the defense everybody just locked in on the quarterback they weren't even thinking about the receiver coming around on the Jet Sweep and that's a big reason why they were able to get so many yards on that play running with power after burner's coming and he runs it in for the score down game CS boy do they need that score gave them a little cushion as they try to put a stop to this two game slot when you've got a losing skid there's nothing like some good old home cooking they came back home and they have played an outstanding game and let's give this crowd a helmet sticker they've been so loud you know they've impacted this game and that's the beauty of college football helping their team get back in the win C NC State sending the offense back onto the field coming out on first down with the play fake and he was hit just as he released it and it falls to the turf and the quarterback gets hit again we already know this defense has gotten home to him multiple times in this game so here you are you're trailing in the game defense knows you're going to throw it they're pinning their ears back you can't feel very confident right now you're the play caller and the quarterback goes knocked down back at the 13 these are the perfect situations you love to be in known passing situations these are not where the offensive tackles want to be and when you're on the edge and there's no threat of the run in your ears back get the nice first down sack they're bringing Heat and the pressure is coming in and they get him again that's tough quarterback takes two shots in a row gets sack two plays in a row it's hard to build confidence it's hard to have toys in the pocket when you're getting sacked on multiple plays in a row down by multiple possessions you can't come up empty on this drive they'll go for it on fourth down he'll try to throw and pick up the first down he's going for a big Play Down field and it's his fourth interception of the game how about that making a play and setting up your offense inside the 40 at the 39 South Carolina ready to go on the attack in another offensive Odyssey they keep it on the ground clock is their friend and they picked up nine on first down it'll bring up second and short and I like the first thought process right here run the football we want to run that clock with the lead thank you to the defense for forcing that turnover setting us up now if we can put a few first downs together we're looking really good on the move H inrease at the 20 touchdown South Carolina and the punishment has been extended they're now in really good shape to get back into the wind column as they extend the lead here late and they add the extra point to finish the drive about to kick it away after scoring the [Applause] touchdown and it'll come out to the 25 no attempt at a return North Carolina state has it back on the offense headed to the field not a lot to feel great about in this one Jesse but I'm sure they'll try to seek out some positive well this might be an opportunity to we to go back when they watch this game and just find the plays and the schemes that were working weren't a lot obviously David but maybe an opportunity for the coaching staff to condense The Playbook I was going to say there's not a lot of good to go back to that' be a quick film session because there was more negatives than positives but when you look at this this week you got a week to figure it out figure out what your offense is going to be moving forward this defense has put a game together it is hard to put all the facets of Defense together run defense pass defense they've been so good man dialed in you could tell they were ready they were fast they were physical they dominated this football game that has not closes he got thrilled trying to deliver it and it'll bring up fourth down and this is just one of those days man where everything has gone wrong right like they just haven't been in a rhythm they haven't they haven't got it going and never built the momentum this is this is one of those days that you learn from you try to grow from a lot of things that we're going to show in the film room that people aren't going to like but hopefully you can learn from it and do better next time that's a great example of the receiver knowing exactly where the first down marker is he got the depth he needed to get so once he was able to make the catch he already knew he had it now fresh set of down my job is to make sure that ball comes loose and I got to go through that guy use my shoulder pad drive my feet really really be physical cuz if he bobbles it at all or as soon as his hand gets to the ball you can tell the difference when that body jerks forward in that ball St and there was nowhere to go for this quarterback and down he goes the defense puts the exclamation point of the day they have had a wonderful day man doing everything great just you could tell they dialed into what was going on and now just throw another sack in the equation hitting the quarterback being disrupted they've been all over the Feld and they almost had another one rare is the occasion when you're happy to see fourth down but it's better than pulling another pick no signs of any kind of kickers they'll leave the offense out there to try to move those [Applause] chains unloads to the wide out finds his man and they convert big play for this offense as they get it to the 32 and he stayed at the line with a first and 10 dropping back it's Mcall throws to the tight end oh what a spectacular layouting catch this is an offense that has skill they've got speed and because of that this defense they can't W themselves to sleep they've got a big lead here late but they've now given up backto back big plays they got to put the clamps down got rid of it just in time can't find his man as he took a shot trying to deliver that football and it'll be second down well it's been that kind of day here tonight that just have not been able to find a rhythm and establish that throwing the football part of it has been wide receivers and quarterbacks not being on the same page but you got to give this defense credit too just like that last play they have been getting after him they've been hitting him that's a big reason why they've got such a big lead here in the four on Third and long trying to have a big completion here that's reeled in it's Rogers touchdown North Carolina State What A Catch and run for six and a nice touchdown continuing to fight continuing to play this one it's pretty much over down multiple possessions this late in the football game it would take a miracle but nice job by this offense continuing to fight push the ball down the field make plays they'll get the two-point conversion and now the lead is 14 they put it in the end zone with a 12pl scoring drive and they top it off with a 14 yd pass for the touchdown time
