welcome to Manhattan Kansas the little apple where they have taken a large bik out of college football the Man For Whom the stadium is named Bill Snider built this program from the losingest in the history of college football to a formidable Foe and home of the Kansas state wild cats we're really looking forward to this matchup you've got a team that's made its way into the top 25 now trying to pass an all important road test as we'll see the number 25 team in the country the Texas Longhorns taking on a squad hoping to prevent another L this week the Kansas State Wildcats for EA Sports college football I'm ree Davis joined here in the booth as always by David Pollock and Jesse Palmer guys let's tee this one [Applause] up on the move from inside is five he gets a block he's on the loose can they catch him he'll take it to the house touchdown wild cats they'll try to add another to their lead and with the extra point they get the first seven of the game so a dynamite play there 99 yds he took it back for the [Applause] touchdown oh he's going to take a chance and bring it out he stopped there but a good return coming out of his own End Zone gets it to the 28 the offense lining up for a first down play [Applause] away used the play fake now to throw just a bit of a misfire there as they can't make the connection really important for a ranked team going into a hostile environment like this one not to give the underdog reason to believe yes reason to believe and don't give the fans reason to get jacked up and excited come out early be in a business mode mindset you got to start fast you got to have a sense of urgency you cannot come sleepwalking into an environment like this because if you do and you make some mistakes this crowd will pounce on you and sees momentum so already a challenge on this opening drive it's third and nine back to pass it's ERS fires to the middle got him downfield in this junior quarterback back shows you why the scouts love that big arm of his the Longhorns have it with a first and 10 they'll run it you'll take four yards on first down every time second and six this just so nice to know you can start off on first down with positive plays positive yards hand the football off set up a good second down wants to fire on second down he wants to go deep he CAU it and he ran away from the crowd and he'll take it in touchdown Long Horn number Big Time Players make big plays in big games man it seems like each and every week when this guy has an opportunity in the end zone he's coming up with the big one that time great job focusing and concentration defense not able to cover him that's his now 10th receiving touchdown on the year here he comes from inside his own five not a lot of space to be found good Hustle by the coverage team and they stop him at the 21 here's this offense with a fresh set of downs takes a hand off and he he's going right maybe picked up a couple he's down at the 24 I wonder how much fun this is for him the head coach trying to take down the old Alma moer across the way yeah I think these are always mixed emotions and how you feel about this playing your old Squad like it's something about it I'm sure that's nostalgic and all the memories probably come flooding back but there's also a competitive element Palmer that you want to beat this squad like this is this is the next team in your way for you accomplishing your goals and dreams yeah he's probably experiencing the emotional Spectrum coming into this game but make no mistake about it he has to separate himself from his past allegiances and understand he's the home team he wants this crowd to get in this football game you know he just gave a rousing speech to his guys in the locker room before taking the field he wants to win this game versus his Alma you know I really like this QB running the football because I know he's got a lot of speed but he's not the biggest guy in the world so he's not going to be able to break a lot of tackles you really got to do a good job of trying to scheme ways to get him out in more space turns it on at Midfield and he Scoops his way to the first down and then slides to avoid the [Applause] hit Kansas State really has this drive [Applause] rolling he's going to pass pressure coming he'll pull it down and run and it Fly it's caught and he almost ran away from everybody on that one a huge pick up on that play huge play puts them in the red zone and now they'll snap it first and 10 from the 15 looking for space it's Edwards they'll pick up four second and Six coming brings up secondary going to work in the Red Zone they can't pick up the first down without getting it into the end zone fast motion from the offense on the Move Carri L of two brings up third [Applause] down boy they'd love to pick up this conversion and go to work with a first and goal come on set now the quarterback changing the original play call that third down pass was coming in hot before it fell to the ground nice job by the defense they're mixing up their look they're third and long in field goal range they go Zone coverage so everybody on the back end has the eye on the quarterback and they're able to break on the ball Force the incompletion that thing would have hit a string in the middle of the upright perfect and with that they've taken the lead so after putting three on the board the kickoff team is out there ready to boot it away from inside his own 15 looking for room able to find enough room to get it out across the 25 he's brought down at the [Music] 26 and here come the horns they've got it again on offense Jesse a very productive Drive last time wound up with a touchdown yeah mixing and matching play calling really well nice balance on that last one Dave we'll see what they can do here in this next Drive yeah and I don't expect anything different when you put together a drive like that I would do more of the same keep the pace keep it going now the play fake throws to the tight end he misses his man the accuracy just not what it needed to be on that play and I tell you what we've kind of gotten to the point where we expect QB need to be robotss and just never to miss and always put it right on the face mask or right on the numbers and right there you could tell he just missed a little bit a little bit off and I guarantee he's tapping his helmet saying hey that's my bad looking for a man it's yours ball in the air intercepted going the other way and he's got room and it's going to be a pick six touchdown Kansas State this D gave them exactly what they needed not only with a stop but with a touchdown yeah and finding ways to impact the game early in the game just make impact plays right the defense wants to create sacks create turnovers great job creating a turnover and getting points off of they'll kick it off and send that defense right back out there to try to score again after the pick six he's going to bring it out from Deep stopped at the 17 and he's probably second guess that return will take over first and 10 so now the long horns take over and they'll send out the offense the big thing now don't get rattled by that last pick six David N it was a big mistake oh and he gets downfield for the big catch got a lot of running room just making a huge play and he sets him up all the way down at the 14 I know it's early in the game but defensively after that play you know you have to tackle the catch when this guy gets the ball in his hands he is so dangerous after the fact so it's okay for him to make catches just got to get him to the ground quickly he'll be brought down at the 5 yd line and this defense is on his heels listen you you got to be able to know what play to call and what hole to go through like the line blocks for a certain hole good job getting through the hole getting what was blocked getting a nice positive gain making your situation really good on the next down couldn't quite nudge it in not sure you could get much closer but it'll be first and goal so so close to cashing it in for this offense wants to throw it's yers touchdown Texas and they'll put that scoreboard operator to work and put six on the board number 11 lining up for the pat exra point and with the extra point they close it to a 1714 game we check in with Kevin Connors what's going on Kevin all right guys a little update on what else is happening in college football this weekend Alabama is currently ahead early in this one but they haven't been able to separate themselves yet inside Bryant Denny they're up by seven over the pandas any big developments in this one we've got you covered with the best team in the business gentlemen thanks for the update on that one Kevin let us know when it goes final and here comes the Kansas State offense back onto the field always good to get points on a drive David but Chip Shot field goals can leave you a little empty and I think it's great to get points but the great teams get touchdowns in the red area you got to get out there this time and execute a little better on this draft you're absolutely right David generally the best Red Zone offenses are the ones that run the ball the best so let's see if they can be a little bit more physical physical on this drive now on first down from the [Applause] 289 to the ground he's got it again he's knocked down in the back field he'll lose a couple linebackers have such an amazing responsibility got to play run got to play pass how about this seeing the Run aggressively getting downhill and getting in the back field and making the tackle for a loss after losing a couple on that last play here's second and 12 they're trying to get to it nowhere close on that one as he got drilled trying to deliver the football and now they face third down well this quarterback's already taken a couple shots from the pocket and there's another one right there that affected his accuracy on that throw they're going to keep this drive going they'll have to make a play on Third and long from the 26 that is just a sideline credit who catch tow drag everything you want just beautiful and that's a great feeling as a quarterback when you make that throw it keeps your offense on the field keeps the offense in Rhythm obviously not as good as throwing a touchdown pass I'll tell you this way better than having to trot off over to the bench and wait for your turn to get another shot this Kansas State offense is moving quickly down the field quarterback making adjustments with his receivers and he'll step out of bounds after a very productive play man when I can run the football like that on first down and create second and inches and and stay way ahead of the sticks and and be in a position now where I can throw the football or run I will have a lot of success on the offensive side of the football running behind that left side oh they knock it free oh looks like the offense was able to recover it man what a break great job falling on the football great job having some awareness the the running back coughed it up but teammates there to pick him up fallowing the football listen it's lucky but it's good job by the offense the wild cats come to the line with a new set of downs from the gun he leaves it with the backat and he's able to bounce off one tackle for a solid pick up I think tackling is about effort most of the time it's about how much passion how much physicality you can bring to get your guy on the ground refuse not to get him on the ground that's not a big back you got to get that guy on the ground you can't let him pick up and exra couple yards and stay ahead of the sticks the pass Falls incomplete and that'll be the final play of this quarter the end of the qu Kansas state 17 Texas 14 we've got this third down play to open the quarter2 SP 42 spider on the move and a really nice run and pick up there before the defense avoided disaster and stopped the really big play QBs that can run completely change your game plan I mean every single bit of it you have to understand now as a pass rusher I got to keep him in the pocket I got to understand all the Zone read Concepts and the power read and the Jet all the different things they can do to you so you know having a guy back there at the helm and that can run the football you better be alert of it from the first play to the end of the fourth quarter the negative play leaves them with second and 12 they'll Run play action that pass is incomplete and they might be fortunate it wasn't knock free for a fumble it'll be third down pressure got to the QB that time he was trying to find his check down out of the back field but the hit forc the incompletion and guys they've come through on the first two third down tries this one might be a little tougher coming after it pass rush gets there gets home gets him down at the 23 and it looks as if they're going to try a field goal and he's already one for one so this time he'll try to put one through from 39 yd out he got it can't good after that last field goal Drive they're set to kick it [Applause] away he'll start to return inside the spot he was looking for some Running Room but not much to be found as he stopped at the 18 here comes the Texas offense D they love to do what they did last time and put this one in the end zone you ain't lying they did a great job the offense was clicking everything went well cmer they executed and got the touchdown and they really were in a nice Rhythm as well and I'd love to see that here on the next drive to just keep doing what you're doing everything seems to be working and you seem to have this defense on their heels coming out on first down with the play fake and a junior was late on the release and he threw it behind him just didn't seem like the quarterback and his intended target were on the same page there and the incompletion brings up a second down for this offense back to throw it's yours unloads to the wide out it's complete and they got the defense on that one and they get it to the 29 yd line hookham is is hooking up with some big plays in the passing game finding their guys down the field you think about offenses that Texas usually have some form of spread and then find those Elite guys on the outside that can win those matchups for you and make those big plays first down physicality wins football games being able to run the football and create balance and and right here just chews up another first down gives you another chance to maybe continue to run the football and I feel like this guy too is just an exp exposive play waiting to happen and they knocked him down almost immediately this is a good sign for this defense the rate they were going not touching the quarterback him already having two touchdown passes in the first half this was not going to be a fun football game to watch now they're turning the tide a little bit getting a little bit of pressure throws toward the end zone and swatted down by the defense to stop the scoring opportunity yeah and that's nice coverage he's taking a shot trying to throw the ball to the end zone maybe put that thing up a little bit higher where his guy can go up and make a play and come down but a nice job by the defender just getting his fingertip on the top of the football already well within field goal range wonder how aggressive they'll be on Third and long from the 22 looking downfield and he needs a bunch ir's deep toward the end zone and it slips through his fingers incomplete that that would have been a huge gain if he could have squeezed it now looks as if they'll settle for the field goal try doesn't have a straight on shot here he'll kick it from the left hash and 39 yds out it is perfect they were able to get a field goal on the board and now they'll kick it away he'll bring it out it's rocket pull down and the 18 and the decision to bring it out of the end zone was not a good one [Music] first K state has the ball back and the power cat offense returns to the field they kick the field goal on the last Drive Jesse they've got the lead don't make a dumb mistake but maintain your aggressive play calling yeah no doubt and I think it's the play caller right now just taking a look at that script he's got in front of him and finding out where my makers who can we take advantage of on this defense to get a touchdown here yeah and just keep moving the ball down the field just execute a little bit better in the Red Zone there's no need to panic we're moving the football and we got the lead now on First and 10 from the 29 yane Yankee from the shotgun they'll run it and he's down at the 41 that's a first down and that is just an attitude run running it right up the middle right into the teeth of that defense they are dialed in on this drive a couple of Chunk plays and now they'll snap it on first down they'll ride the hot hand they pick up half of it it'll be second and five well this offense came into the game knowing they wanted to be physical they wanted to establish the line of scrimmage and they're running downhill right at this defense and they're turning out positive yardage ear the give to the tail back a strong tackle and wrap up from the junior Kansas State quick to the line wants to throw on third down they're bringing Heat at the 40 there he goes Nifty little Stamper on this one enough for the first down and he slides in safely fantastic job there buying time and then using his speed to go get a huge chunk play you saw on defense a lot of people in the back end with their heads turned around chasing receivers it's dangerous you want to play Man coverage you don't want to keep your eyes on the quarterback you're going to pay for it you saw it right there he's Dro behind the line of scrimmage that'll be a loss of three you see all this movement in football now all the steming the defensive line they're sliding right before the snap creating confusion for the offensive line then they're moving back and stunting really good job by the defense continue to move continue to stunt continue to get in the back field and make this life hard on this running well the offensive line had everybody blocked except the defensive end he was able to sneak into the back field and get the tackle for loss on Third and long a check down would be the last resort he'll pull it down and he slid through that attempt and he's got room they finally get him on the ground with the big running play moves to change for the first down and the Wildcats come to the line with a fresh set of downs from the Red Zone looking for a space pocket starts to collapse and the rush will get to him at the 25 we've reached the two-minute warning and we'll see if the offense can build on this lead before the break this drive was rolling and then it got thrown into reverse here's a second and 18 Johnson wants to throw it quickly complete snowed under by the defense the defense needs to have a plan for this guy they weren't ready for that one drag route running all the way across the field and Deb just can't stay with them because of his speed and as a result they give up a big one on Third and short they'll try to pick it up on the ground here they make the stop at the 5 yd line but they've got it first and goal that's got to feel good if you're the offense because third down has been a bit of a problem all season long but you love the way they're executing at this point finding ways to keep the chains moving we've got a timeout here late in the first half and they'll trying to get more points on the board before the break well at this situation on the field this defense has their hands full because this running back just seems to have a nose for the end zone of quarterback sneak for the touchdown know this guy's had a big R in this offense this year especially when they get down close to the end zone that's his fifth rushing touchdown on the year he's been a factor for these guys offensively and with the extra point they're now up by a touchdown and a field goal at 10 kickoff team has the ball teed up and they're about ready to go and he takes this from inside the five not a lot of space found good Hustle by the coverage team and they stop him at the 21 first the longhorn sending the offense back onto the field getting late here in the first half they'll have a chance to make this a one possession game and the offensive play caller here has to really be dialed in it's important down two possessions they he's got it downfield for a huge gain found a bunch of room and got it to the 44 yd line line the L hords are in the hurry up back to pass it's yers gets it to the back and the defense coming with bad intentions they knock him down for a loss there's a timeout called as this offense tries to find a way to draw a little closer now on second down he's looking to throw under heavy pressure lets it Fly pulls it in inside the 10 and he ran away from the defense to take it in touchdown Lorn and I tell you what that passing touchdown man that should spark this whole team like The Comeback is more than on now like they got the touchdown they cut into the lead you want to get a stop and go into the half get all the juices all the excitement and be like listen the passing game's rolling we got this The Comebacks in full effect so they got the touchdown and as they kick off really important for the defense to shut them down here from inside his own 10 he'll try to help out their field position he's got great speed he is Electric in the return game and that one has the offense set up nicely they'll snap it from the 37 for the first play of this this drive defense trying to keep this offense from getting a line on who to block got rid of it quickly but it's incomplete after the quarterback and receiver failed to hook up they'll try it again on second down he's looking to throw he fires one deep down the right side and he was on his way and they get him down at the 30 the offense will have to use its first timeout of the half they made the defense pay with that last big chunk of yardage now first and 10 from the [Applause] 30 looking for a physical attack from the gun and it's just simple simple first down run showing your physicality setting your offense up in a good spot the offense waste no time getting the timeout call solid pick up of four on first down it's second and six the inside handoff able to pick his way forward for a decent game before the defense gets him down just a simple power play again not sexy run the ball up the middle physicality offensive line gets to assert themselves run block what they love to do this pays dividends down the road in the fourth quarter excellent job working through the air there finding a hole in that defense and picking up a first down Johnson looking to throw he's got it and still on his feet they've got it down to the three yd line really well done on that throwing and catch they'll use a timeout right before halftime maybe time for one or two more plays running out of time here in the first half they're going to have to be efficient to put some points on the board before the break he wants to throw here on second down feeling some heat it is incomplete and now there are 4 seconds remaining that is a great example of the dline playing with tremendous awareness that player knew he was not going to get to the quarterback wasn't going to sack him so he slowed himself down got under control located the quarterback and then got his big paws in the air to knock it right down the boulevard it's good so they get the late field goal right before the half and not much time after this kickoff for an [Applause] answer on the run from inside his own five they finally make the stop that's going to make those halftime stats look a little bit nicer as we head to the break that's going to wrap up the first half here and now we join Kevin with the halftime update and the wild cats will kick it off to start the second half to ADV on the [Applause] he'll bring it back from inside his SP he was looking for more Running Room but none to be found as he stopped at the 23 and here comes the Texas offense back on the field if they're going to get on top in this game they're going to have to find a way to get the running game going in the second half agree so it can create some more balance some more unpredictability I I feel like this defense has got a good beat on what they're doing especially if they don't mix it up a little bit so I do look for a little second half running the football bmer right of this grp and I think the thing D is they just got to be more physical I don't think this is a scheme question about trying different run plays I think it's up to the Big Fellas up front they've just got to make the decision that they're going to be tougher here in the second half so that they can win this game third down conversions always a huge St they've got a third and long from the 27 dropping back it's yours got his man out of the back field and they knock him down but he got past the line the game nice Poise by the quarterback here's a big third down throw and you want to push the ball vertically down the field but if the defense takes it all away check the ball down get it to your running back and let him go do the work and move the sticks [Applause] forward they've got the screen set up and he never had a chance as soon as he caught it the defense was right there well this defense is extremely disciplin right there first down screen pass it doesn't fool them nice play second down coming up the aerial assault continues catch in the middle it's Baxter they able to get him stopped just shy of the first down Mark Len running backs are not just running backs anymore you're going to be a wide receiver in today's football and a great job sneaking out of the back field getting him the football letting them get some positive yards come to the line at the 42 facing a third and short they'll try to run for it can't get him to the ground the Longhorns pick up the first down well they needed two yards to get that first down that's exactly what they got great job of execution no secret about it just got to be physical get a hat on a hat low man wins all the cliches to get that third down and Sh hit hard jump just as he released it on first down and just couldn't get it to the receiver yeah this defense hadn't had a lot of success this offense has been doing what it wants at will finally getting to the QB finally getting some pressure finally getting a big hit on him that'll pay some dividends down the [Applause] road on second down wants to throw unloads it left and the pass is incomplete Jarred Loose by the hit you know it's difficult for QBs sometimes when you're throwing to your running backs because they're not receivers you really got to be perfect with the ball placement you got to make that a catchable throw a little bit too tough for the RB on that one on Third and long trying to have a big completion here slings it downfield misses again it's incomplete and that's three in a row that is a good omen for this defense they were getting lit up in the first half they knew something had to change so to set the tone like this early on their opening drive of the third quarter and get a stop on third that should really help their confidence and the returner will be knocked [Applause] [Music] down take over first and here comes the Kansas State offense back onto the field and a settle for the Chip Shot field goal last time Jesse they'd love for this one to pay off bigger yeah it just comes down to ex tion too did a nice job out in the field stalled a little bit once they got down to the goal line so they just need to be a little bit more crisp here yeah and listen I I think the first part was the most important part you got to put the drive together first to get down there now when we get down there focus on execution and getting six points Johnson wants to throw it looking to the big tight end got his man downfield and he's brought down after a huge completion ree you and I were talking about this before the game how is this defense going to be able to deal with all the speed they have offensively you saw them just rip off a big play and Jesse now their head spinning just a little bit give up a big chunk play and it's right back at him they bring him down and he's going to lose a yard on that one Kansas State pushing the pace quarterback changing the plays at the line dialing up a second down pass play and it's incomplete going for the massive explosive play instead they're looking at a third down man that is a huge missed opportunity for this offense when big plays like that present themselves you have got to hit receiver did a great job with his route he was able to get behind coverage he had a step on his man quarterback's got to be able to make that throw keeps looking downfield still running at the 40 he gets the job done picking up the first down then getting down it it's just so hard to stop there is no rhyme there is no reason he just scrambles around makes people miss and then next thing you know you look up and he's 20 30 yards down the field and there's nothing you can do about it trying to get to him quarterback extends the play and he can't find the receiver and down he goes man this defensive end is a monster I mean you've seen his athleticism and his speed and his Bend and his flexibility he now has two sacks and there's still a lot of football to play using his legs it's Edward he is going nowhere stopped at the line of scrimmage how about the defender being a heat seeking missile he was on radar lock he found the football and folw down with some bad intentions they moved it to the 25 but now facing a third and Long Johnson looking to throw gets it out quickly and sure tackling there to keep him from getting to the first down marker they didn't quite get that route run deep enough to pick up the first down now they've got a fourth and short and I think everybody at home tends to yell at their television set why aren't you getting past the first down marker why did you run your route short defense did a good job knowing what that was but now fourth down offense has to make a decision they stop him short of the marker and they'll turn it over on downs and you could tell he trusted himself he thought he could take off get that first down just a little too much speed on that defense they closed that Gap so quick didn't let him get to the first down marker turnover on down didn't get much done on that first play of the drive it's second and 11 off play action looking to scramble trying to escape and get it himself finally run out of bounds but he has this offense rolling with a first down quarterbacks are you know there's so many adjectives to describe them calm cool collected accurate so on and so on but a lot of times it's just smart understanding the situation the down in distance and knowing where that first down marker is great job going to get that first down new set of down and he goes out of bounds after coming up with positive yardage there I love fighting yards and I'm going to encourage every single one of my running backs receivers and tight ends to do it just not my quarterback I really got to understand listen the plays over get down on the ground don't take too many of those big shots these guys have staggered around a little bit in this one it would be a really good time to get things going if they want to hold off the upset bit but they're the favorite for a reason Reese and they've got The Playmakers on the field they're only one play away from completely changing the momentum in this game so the underdog David they've got to keep playing at a high level and they're The Underdogs for a reason so they've got to have some things go their way they got to catch some breaks and and all they want to do continue to fight continue to hang around as long as possible and stay within a play or stay within some kind of big game-changing momentum play and the Longhorns getting set on First and 10 quick hand off and these defensive tackles just eat people they swallowed human beings when you get near they're so big he's so strong those guys those running backs comeing they just need a mid they put one mid on a running back and he usually falls to the ground just SP their sheer mass and strength they'll go to the ground and he has a solid gain before the defense bottles him up and a nice job by the running back finding space getting downhill making a good run great job finishing with his bads they've been able to control the ball this is the seventh play of the drive it's third and three they'll pick up enough yardage for the first down they've got it at the 30 all right nothing flashy there he just did what it took to get the first down now on first down from the 30 used the play fake now to throw he'll take a shot what a snag by the defense got some room to run that's why you love veterans in this defense they stay locked in on their rules and he made the pick who says defensive backs don't have hands nice job breing the football and making the catch a lot of times you see guys SWAT it down or you see them trying to catch it looks like they have two left hands defensive backs don't catch real well nice job breaking on the football nice job securing the int and actually catching it didn't get much done on that first play of the drive it's second and 11 easy on the run it's gens and he'll be stopped for no gain on the final play of the third quarter fourth quarter is coming up the third quarter with the score Kansas State 30 Texas 24 back on the field after the break and we'll start the quarter here on third down timeout is called and it's the defense wanting to make sure that everyone's on the same page for this big down not exactly the ideal situation for this offense third and long backed up inside their [Applause] 20 Johnson wants to throw it and that defense gets to him and down he goes at the nine how about the def getting home with the pass rush playing man coverage in the back end you need to win up front those guys got to get to the quarterback do a great job rushing the passer I can play man when I got a pass rush like that makes the catch near the 50 really explosive when he gets his hands on the ball and he found a couple of crevices and made a nice game before being run out of bounds so Texas has it again and here comes the offense that last Drive was promising for a while but you just can't mess it up at the end with the pick Jesse no you got to be able to finish drives especially in this game if you're going to win in David they've got to be able to eliminate the M St yeah and I don't think you get conservative or playing safe you can trust your guy I think you put the ball right back in his hands and let him do his thing they'll go back to work after the incompletion here's second and 10 from the 36 couldn't connect on first down now back to the air the short hands it's Balden he's run out of bounds but a big play on that one and it'll be a first down this quarterback has been really good today has been on top of it seeing things really really well that pass right there put him over the 300 yd Mark that's a pretty good day maybe this will breathe a little life into this offense which has been flatlined in the second half here's first and 10 they'll throw it to the back on the screen he'll get it all the way down to the8 yd line and the defense is feeling the heat well they pick up the first down there on the screen I love the offensive line there allowing the pass rush to get way up the field they completely baited their guys made them think that they got beaten that they were going to get the sack and then they sneak the running back SC right in behind them and pick up the first strikes to blow he's got it down to the one yd line right on the doorstep of per and after that strong play on first down there right on the cusp of a score second and goal whoops someone moved a little bit early offense going to pick up a 5yd penalty the officials offer the deal and the coach it they will take the penalty and the D Deni them on second and goal to the air it's yours he got it he's down at the one and they almost had the touchdown pass on that one I'll say this man in college football you see a lot of bad tackling didn't see it right there that was an awesome job first off being there at the point of attack once the tight end made the catch touchdown Texas and they add six more to the board with that trip to the house and I love the physicality of this offense it's third and goal it's money time I've got to be more physical than you and that's exactly what this offense just did put the ball on the ground and put it in the end zone and that extra point was good and now they have the lead in in the fourth about to kick it away after scoring the touchdown and it's caught from inside the 20 and here he comes he was looking for more Running Room but none to be found as he stopped at the 23 K state has the ball back and the power cat offense returns to the field last time David it was one two three kick well last drive that three and out sometimes that puts your defense in a bad spot and you got to get a drive together here so you don't wear the defense out I just think David too predictable that last Drive they got to do something here to get this defense on their heels snagged in the middle it's cus and he'll get it up to the 38 it'll be a first down you know this sophomore has a big arm and there were some revolutions on that one finally some signs of life from this offense which has done nothing in the second half it's first and 10 he's knocked down in the back field he'll lose a couple well the linebacker showing you read and react he knew exactly where that running play was going and he beat the football to the line of scrimmage and forc the [Applause] tfl after losing a couple on that last play here second and [Applause] 12 hand off from the gun and they'll wrestle him to the ground after a short gain they're strong and they're strong defensive tackles they're strong there's such big jokers in the Middle where they just lock out those offensive linemen and running backs listen they don't have much of a chance when you got that 300 plus pound guy grabbing you around the shoulder pad you tend to go to the ground pretty quickly Johnson looking to throw fires to the wide out working the middle and he breaks into the open TouchDown wild cats and they've moved out front here in the hor I think one of the most underrated things we talk about with a QB is timing being able to get the ball out of his hands to his receiver where he can continue to catch the football and run with it nice pitch nice catch nice play in the fourth quarter when you needed it for this team to take the lead just couldn't nudge it across for the two-point conversion it hoped to go up by a touchdown but they're still up by five here in the fourth almost ready to kick it away after scoring the [Applause] touchdown oh he's going to go for the return pull down at the 18 and the decision to bring it out of the end zone was not a good one here come the horns they've got it again get on [Applause] offense off the play fake on first down to throw and the defense makes a play sacking him back at the 10 the defense just simply not fooled by the play action often times an offense you're hoping the Run fake is going to slow down those pass rushers but man oh man they had their ears pinned back on second down he'll fire throws to the wide out and it was worth going for a chunk play but the long pass is incomplete I think when you go through these progressions as a quarterback you want to find the right guy to throw to obviously I just I didn't think he was the right guy I didn't think he was really that open and listen he sailed and he overthrew it but I might have surveyed the middle of the field a little bit better though [Applause] you make up the game plan and not a lot on the play sheet for this third and long from inside their own 20 looking to throw and he needs a bunch nice defensive way to get a hand in there and knock it away and now such a tough situation late in this game you're trailing but now it's Fourth and long like it's one thing if it's Fourth and short this makes it even more difficult you got to have something died up you feel really great about and the Longhorns will line up to punt it away three and out they got stuck in Reverse they hope the punt can bail them out he gets it away from his own End Zone really good job by the coverage team to make the Stop and that's where they'll put it in [Music] play and here comes the Kansas State offense back onto the field how about that last drive just parked him up in the air David yeah and how about that quarterback you gave him the ball and he delivered the goods great job taking apart the defense Jesse on that last drive he really did David I mean that was a master class and just reading coverage and being acurate it's first and 10 from the 38 ydd Line2 SP they'll run it trying to drain time off the clock after the pick up of nine it's second and one no mystery on that play with the lead we are going to run the ball you know it's coming and we are running right at you right into the teeth of the defense and they're still able to get a nice game he's knocked down in the back field he'll lose a couple great great job by the defense everybody firing off the ball hitting their guys holding their gaps running to the football nowhere to go the pressure the intensity is palpable a huge play right here on Third and two and he'll pick up the first down after a tough run there well this is one of the fastest quarterbacks in college football and that's why the option's a good idea because if he can get out in space and he has a chance to get down field he is really difficult to tackle and he's very difficult to catch as you saw in that last play getting a first down he's dropped behind the line of scrimmage that'll be a loss of three quick timeout called by the defense stopping the clock to save as much time as possible for their offense second down here and maybe they've got time to get one more snap off before the two-minute warning quarterback checking off Johnson wants to throw it working that left side now that completion gets them inside the 10 and the defense is running out of room to defend boy they'd love to move the sticks here and take a shot at it on first and goal now on the option now the toss and he wses in for the score touchdown Kansas State boy do they need that score gave them a little cushion as they try to put a stop to this two game slide and with the extra point the lead is a dozen here in the fourth lining up to cover the kick after that touchdown Drive 43 31 going for the return not nearly as much as he' hoped when he brought it out of the end zone he'll be stopped at the 15 take over first and [Applause] 10 so now the Longhorns take over and they'll send out the offense boy three and out last time David they'd like to be more productive this time around yeah in the last Drive nothing really clicked no rhythm got off the field really really quickly they need to put something together here yeah David bad execution on that last drive so they got to take a collective breath and start playing like a unit on this drive wants to throw on first down looking to scramble blasted as he lets it go can't find his man as he took a shot trying to deliver that football and it'll be second down this pass rush is real man they force the quarterback they flush him out to the left and he's trying to scramble around find an open guy they still are able to get a hit on him and that forces the incompletion excellent coverage and good use of the hands to knock it away well I know that one fell incomplete but what a day this guy has had thrown the football multiple touchdowns and he's done a really nice job with his decision making hasn't thrown any picks which has really helped keep this offense on schedule on third down going up top he's taking a deep shot late in the game and that is interception number three on on the day and they'll drag him down after a good return on the interception that should be the nailer the calling what a great break on the football getting the big turnover you got the lead now just go out there be smart on offense and run that clock and he'll pick up one it brings up second and nine when with the running game on first down now back at it Johnson looking to throw turns it Loose a strike downfield and the explosive play and they're on the move all the way to the 44 a big game there as they did a tremendous job working the middle of the field yeah and if you're going to complete that throw re quarterbacks have got to play with anticipation you've got to get it out of your hands early and give your receiver an opportunity before the defense gets to the ball he will step out of bounds but not before the big pick up and a first down for this offense the wild cats come to the line with a new set of downs he'll keep it himself nowhere to run on that one he loses four on the carry I'll tell you this is a hard defense to run against if you're going to go sideline to sideline because of that guy's speed at linebacker he can get all the way to the perimeter chase the quarterback down on the option and make the tackle behind the line of scrimmage and impressive that's reeled in it's C he's brought down quickly minimal gain there still a bit short of the first down man it's nice having a QB that is going to hang in there you can tell hanging in there he knows he's going to get hit right if I'm going to get hit I might as well make a completion great job hanging in there throwing the football on Target and getting the completion what a Nifty run there to pick up the first down I think you have to like what you see if you're the coaching staff here your offense is on the field looks like you got a pretty good drive going and you're just going to try and keep this thing marching keep the clock ticking you got to and the rush will get to him at the 25 a Los of 5 y on the play second down coming
