EA Sports [Music] [Music] Dallas Texas and the Texas state fair and for the better part of a century the Sooners and Longhorns have defined conferences national titles and how regions of the country are perceived based on the outcome of this game when these two meet everybody pays attention little gets the blood boiling quite like a rivalry game barbs shots trash talk things that go on throughout the week will now all be settled on this field as we'll see a team fresh and ready to go off of by week the Texas Longhorns taking on the 20th ranked team in the land the Oklahoma Sooners for EA Sports college football ree Davis with you alongside David Pollock and Jesse Palmer time to get this game started [Applause] the Sooners will get us started with the opening [Music] [Applause] kickoff on the run from inside his own five nice job by the kickoff team everybody stayed in their lanes and they'll stop him at the 16 the Longhorns offense will get the first crack at it here guys this r R has been intense and over the years there's always a back and forth with these offens and they live so close near each other in proximity obviously they go to the same high schools they they visit the same school Jesse this game always means a lot yeah look it's Boomer Sooner and hook him right this is one of the best rivalry games in all of college football there's just always a different energy when these two teams meet really nice job by the quarterback hey a lot of quarterbacks want to cover they want to drop back not really about that life they don't want to be the tackling kind of guy they're like he leave that to the linebackers that dude committed came up made a nice tackle looking for room it's maxter nudges ahead for one out to the 16 this Red River rivalry has such a history of great finishes and the long horns pulled that one out last year David yeah they found a way to get it done and listen this Cavalry means so much you think U Jesse has heard a little bit about this over the last year of course they have David I think both these teams because of how last year's game ended they knew this one was going to be a dog fight they were prepared to come in here and play 60 Minutes Plus to try to get the W late hit moves the ball up 15 yds the offense will gladly take a fresh set of downs after the penalty motion from the offense paa to throw on first down off the play fake looking for the endzone and it's caught touchdown Texas quarterbacks love receivers that can get separation but that amount of Separation uh is a little excessive I agree Ree and I think the defense needs to have a little powow on the sidelines and talk about what just happened because that was an absolute busted coverage on the back end defense can't keep playing with [Music] that lining up to tack one more onto that lead and the extra point is good and it's seven nothing quick strike offense on that threeway scoring drive and they finish it in style with a 57 yd toss for six he wisely lets atan bounce through the back of the end zone and they'll take over at the 25 the Sooners offense will try to get something going with their first possession here are our impact players for this game and it goes beyond executing an assignment to make an impact in the game yeah obviously we were talking to both coaching staffs this week and we asked them who needs to step up and play well they immediately pointed to these guys right here they are the key for their respective teams yeah and they don't always show up in the Box Score but these are the guys are the leaders these are the guys getting everybody organized and have to play well for their team to succeed can't find his man as he took a shot trying to deliver that football and it'll be second down when you reach this point in the season these types of games top 25 matchups really determine whether you're going to be a contender yeah and really show what you're going to be the rest of the season how you going to finish strong throughout the season of the first part of the season now getting to the middle of the Season Palmer getting a chance to show what you're about so you finish them it's a Resume Builder no doubt about it really there's been so much anticipation building up to this top 25 matchup so which team can control their emotions I think goes a long way and who wins this one they come to the line facing third and long from the 25 looking for a man it's Arnold going back to the well another deep ball and trying to put points on the board on third down now they're staring at Fourth Down fourth down that's why it's so important for this defense to win first and second down you set up third and Longs like that you can show your exotic looks you get the pass rush going everybody in the back end expecting throw and that's how you force incompletions and Force fourth Downs no return coming he'll call for the fair Catch here comes the Texas offense Jesse looking to take it down the field for back-to- back touchdowns I think it's really important for them moving forward too to have a lot of balance right you want to be able to keep this defense guessing yeah and you got me searching for answers after that last drive you stack another drive on top of this their defense's heads are going to be spinning all over the place nice run there on first down you know this is a running back that gets better as the game goes on so they're going to want to make sure they keep feeding him the football let him get laded up they'll keep it on the ground they bring him down and he's going to lose a yard on that one and that play shows you really what this defense is about it's a difficult one to attack they're really good one of the best in the country they come at you from all angles so I I'm interested to watch how do you mix up the play calling how do you keep the defense off balance cuz they are a good one he's got enough remove the change and they'll spot it at to 47 and here we go if you're an offense you got to get that ground game going so you can have some balance and then you give it to your quarterback Palmer and let him make some plays down the field later on yeah exactly and know coming into this game this offense knew they were going to have to someway somehow at least establish a semblance of a running game for exactly what you just said you got to be able to use playaction pass later in this game to get some explosive plays down the field and it's a play like that that we just saw which going help them get that they might have the defense's head spinning a little bit now hit him with a big run now they hit him with a big pass man it's so hard to defend both you know that which coverage do I want to put do I want to put more people in the Box to stop the run you've got this kind of balance on offense the defense can't be right yeah this coaching staff they're getting this offensive line lathered up and into a rhythm now they're letting him drive off the ball on first down on these running plays and they're getting chunks of yardage got six on on first down now a lot of options on second and four they'll switch it up here and look to throw caught in the back field it's Gibson and good coverage by the defense just a short game you know sometimes even a short game like that can be used to set up something bigger later on no doubt Reese they can pump that and take a shot down the field and don't worry they're going to go back to that same play cuz they know this guy with the ball in his hands is dangerous he makes one guy Miss he can take it to the house they bring him down and he's going to lose a yard on that one keep the foot on the pedal if you're on offense here you got that yardage yeah you didn't get the first down but you set yourself up now to go forward here and keep this drive Al and the kicker delivers the three to salvage that drive and now the lead is even bigger so after the last Drive ended with a field goal the kickoff team out there to send it away not going to get a turn here they'll bring it out to the 25s a kickoff sails through the back of the end zone so Oklahoma has it again and here comes the offense boy three and out last time David they'd like to be more productive this time around yeah in the last Drive nothing really clicked no rhythm fires and picked off going the other way and he's got room and they'll drag him down after a good return on the interception not all DBS make the play at the end right they they can bat the ball down they can be in position They Don't Really secure the football great job by the DB securing the football and forcing the turnover quick pass on the jet motion runs through a tackle got enough for the first and he's still going and that stiff arm is a weapon for this Runner he uses it and picks up a first down it's so hard for a defense to have to stop plays like that because it really forces you to play with great gu discipline you see the pre- snap motion defense doesn't know if he's just running across the field and he's going to run a route if he's going to block or if he has the football that time he and into the end zone he goes touchdown Lorn no midseason concentration laps here in week seven as they push out that lead defense has got to do a better job of crowling this wide receiver they've got to know where he lines up each and every play and then once he has the ball they have to play with sense emergency and get hats to the football he's just way too dangerous in the open field and with the extra point they now have a three possession lead at 17 well they didn't exactly milk the clock on that drive did they two plays and into the end zone for the touchdown just unloaded on that kickoff don't have to worry about a return on a kick like that they'll bring it out to the 25 time for this sooner offense to go back to work to say this has been a slow start is a bit of an understatement and they really need to get it going here Jesse that's right the opponent they're firing on all cylinders right out of the gate offensively for this unit they've been slow and struggling they need an explosive play to wake themselves up yeah it's just the first quarter so it's not the end of the world you've seen slow starts but you got to continue to pick and pick and pick until you find that play or that scheme that you can use against this defense misfired on first down back to the air on second and it's knocked away downfield the DB getting a hand in there probably the toughest call on the play sheet third and long balls at the 25 the receivers often will run their route based on a side adjustment they're trying to get to it and the pressure was too much they get him at the 15 yeah the defensive line you know third and long situations I'm rushing the quarterback you bringing the nickel a little bit more speed on the field and the defensive line gets home and gets the sack on third down now a fair catch is called for and may just shy of Midfield the longhorn sending the offense back onto the field looking for a productive play on first down we go ready go takes a hand off it's Baxter you'll take four yards on first down every time second and six and it's just simple simple first down run showing your physicality setting your offense up in a good spot solid pick up of four on first down it's second and six keep it on the ground really nice stop there from this senior leader I'll tell you this is a running back who's very very dangerous and the defense did a good job getting him down there but they got to do a great job gang tackling because this is a guy that can break tackles and turn those types of plays into home runs they'll try to bully their way for the first he's knocked down in the back field he'll lose a couple and the Longhorns will put it away on fourth down just nothing doing on that last run and they knew coming into this one they were going to be challenged right this is one of the best defenses in all of college football for them to have any shot they're going to have to do a lot better running the football Here Come the Sooners ready to go on offense last time David it was one two three kick the last drive that three and out sometimes that puts your defense in a bad spot and you got to get a drive together here so you don't wear the defense out I just think David too predictable that last Drive they got it do something here to get this defense on their heels plenty of time for one more snap before the end of the quarter quarterback will Audible and back to the air on second down stands in and takes the hit and that one's going to be knocked down in complete and we have knocked out the first quarter guys it is Texas who holds the lead man that was an impressive and dominant first quarter let's take a look at the stats before we move on just about ready to get things started here in the second we'll see if they continue to flex that [Applause] muscle back on the field after the break and we'll start the quarter here on third down wants to throw it's Arnold and he got smacked just as he released the pass it's incomplete and the Sooners will send out the punt unit QBs and receivers on third down everything has to happen just a split second sooner You're Expecting pressure the quarterback gets hit just now on the same page with this tet and here comes the Texas offense back on the field they'll have another opportunity to extend this lead after punting last time David and it's important to put that punt behind you it's it's over let it go get back to what you were doing that built this lead car yeah and defense obviously they won a few Downs uh that last drive so we got to put them on their heels here maybe mix up a few Personnel groupings and try to show them some pictures they haven't seen yet off the play fake on first down to throw got his man downfield and he almost ran away from everybody on that one a huge pick up on that play and the Longhorns want to move quickly second quarter getting closer to the half offense is still having a lot of success stringing some first downs together defense is going to need to figure something out before they get to halftime throws to the wide out he got it that completion will take it inside the four and the offense is threatening the Longhorns lined up with a first and goal wide receiver coming across in motion but Jets we pass and he won't be able to push his way in he stopped at the one and these little touch passes man they're just the easiest completions ever for quarterbacks Palmer I bet you would have loved being able to just Flip It Forward that counts as to your completion percentage which is good and then it's all run after the catch so pretty easy for a QB you wouldn't have been the only All-American in this booth David if I were allowed to and he takes it in for the score touchdown Texas follow the blocker the offensive bu will take you to the Hallelujah land and I tell you what most of the time re it requires skill to find that hole and Slither through a little crack that was not a crack that was wide open didn't take a lot of vision because the blocking was outstanding and he Ted on the extra point about to kick it off after punching it in for the touchdown the kickoff bounces through the end zone they'll bring it out to the 25 now the Oklahoma offense will go back to work they've got nothing done so far and they already find themselves in a three possession hole Jesse yeah and as a head coach you're wondering what didn't I say what didn't I do to get my team ready to go because we look like we're sleepwalking at this point nothing went well in the first quarter you just say refresh like let's try to find a way now chip into this lead try to make it somewhat manageable get to that that's a beautiful pass and catch I love the job the quarterback does manipulating the defense with his eyes he Froze that safety and that allowed his receiver more room to work his round looking to throw it's Arnold they're bringing Heat hit hard just as he released it on first down and just couldn't get it to the receiver play this game in the shadow of big Tech you can get a corny dog out there play carnival games and see one of the great rivalries in the sport Dy it's crazy you literally walk outside of the stadium and there are thousands upon thousands of people they don't even realize a football games going on Jesse they're just having a he makes a grab he gets it in touch down sooner number they'll try to attack one more on their score and after the extra point they're now down 24-7 quick strike offense on that three playay scoring drive and they put the points on the board with that 37 yd touchdown [Applause] pass from inside his own 10 he'll try to help out their field position really disciplined job by the cage unit to get down there and make the stop at the 19 so now the LGH horns take over and they'll send out the offense fast motion from the offense on the ground it's back not much there picks up a couple to the 22 the Run game just has not been working for this offense all game long you saw it on that last play as well just not getting enough push up front on the offensive line they haven't been physical looking for a physical attack from the gun he's stuffed after picking up one to the 23 you know runs like this often times or like a boxer in a boxing match obviously it's not a knockout punch but these are body blows and as the game goes on these small gains are going to turn into longer runs here's the handoff and he was fortunate not to lose yardage on that play able to wedge it back to the line of scrimmage that back had no to defensive line at up the blocks how about the linebacker swarming in coming in and making a great play on the ball Carry Fourth Down and the punt team sends it the other way he only needs a sliver of daylight coverage team able to put a stop to that return at the 42 yd line here comes the Oklahoma offense these guys scored a touchdown the last time they had it now a chance to really dig their way out of this hole yeah and it's complimentary football right offense do their job scoring defense getting the stop offense has got the ball right back Palmer go back to that last Drive revisit it rehash some of the same play yeah and if you're the quarterback here think about where are my best matchups too we're going to have to throw the football at some point here so where do I want to take advantage of this defense in what areas of the field and where are my best opportunities the incompletion brings us to Second and 10 dropping back it's Arnold fires to the wide out oh so close to paying off the tip gr he had it in his hands but it falls incomplete guys this rough start is hardly what they had in mind to start SEC play and it's not going to get any easier well no doubt about it there were big expectations surrounding this program inside SEC play this year and things haven't necessarily gone their way they've had to fight a ton of adversity but David they believe they have the leadership in the locker room to turn it around but it's got to start today yeah wanted to like we got to start today we got to find something we got to find what we're really good at what we can hang our hat on so we can start to build some momentum throughout the season obviously not the start we wanted but we got to point to the next opportunity they got two him in it and here come the horns they've got it again on offense you get a field position like this and you're not likely to punch the way they did the last time they had the ball yeah great job by the defense setting them up in an opportunity to get some points on the board quick this is an opportunity you've got to capitalize on this field position you must come away with points here if you're on offense right back up top on second and 10 got his man on the right right on the money with that throw the defense was there but they are in the Red Zone with a first down at the 12 they're running the curl route against Zone coverage the quarterback knows that that's going to be a tight window he's got to rifle that ball into his wide receiver he does just that and as a result they pick up the first in they'll get it down to the 8 yd line on that throw and catch and the defense is backed up against the wall and quarterback receiver on the same page nice job seeing the Zone understanding the drag route concept easy pitch easy catch on second down wants to throw he's got it on the move they've got it down to the three yd line rim well done on that throwing catch a nice job by the QB there timing out that drag throw it's Zone coverage so he's got to make sure he gets it to his receiver in a window to allow him to catch the ball and then turn it up [Applause] field not a lot of ground to cover and not much to defend a big third down in the Red Zone quarterback Quick Pass to the receiver they were all over over him nowhere to go as that third down play turned into a disaster now on fourth down they'll settle for a field goal try he was on target with his first kick and this one ought to be easy from 20 yds away we got a timeout here late in the first half and they'll try to get more points on the board before the break and on fourth down they'll try to salvage the drive with a field goal smashes it between the uprights and that will extend their lead even F and he knocks another one through and how about this kicker good way to start off your season right like what do you have in the spot sometimes you don't know can he make those kicks starting off hasn't missed one yet been very dependable for this [Music] squad here comes the sooner offense back onto the [Music] field flying gets set first down quarterback reacting to what the D is showing little over anxious out of the stance early and it's a false start false start off so the decision has been made and the coach will take the penalty first down here for the offense On The Run it's Arnold trying to beat the D deep picked off got some room to run and he was looking for the pick six he'll have to settle for getting it inside the 30 this is obviously not a great start for this quarterback here two interceptions already in this game he's got to do a much better job with his decision making good timing on on the quick out and he goes out of bounds after coming up with positive yardage there and it's first down but they'll try the field goal in the closing seconds of the first half he'll line it up from the right side a 37 y coming up it's good he hit that one right down the middle and they'll push that lead out a little further that late in the half field goal always gives you a little boost going to the locker room and they'll need to finish off these final few seconds and not allow them to answer one more play before the teams head to the locker rooms to the air on first down pressure coming they get to him as he throws hit hard as he released the ball on that first down pass and didn't never had a chance we played two quarters here time to go to Kevin Connors in our halftime update thanks so much guys and I need not tell you rivalry games always bring out a ton of emotion and no surprise we saw just that in the first half today and it's been a battle of wills between these two teams through two quarters Bend but don't break they've managed to neutralize the explosive Playmakers on each side by shutting down passing windows and providing tight coverage forget the jimes and Joe's this second half could really be about the X's and O's the Longhorns will kick it away first and we'll start the second half that ball skips through the end zone it's a Touchback and they'll take over at the 25 yd line the sooner offense returns to the field they start this third quarter in a big hole and they have to start climbing out right now and they're going to have to be really aggressive this like this offense when I'm playing from behind every possession means so much more and if you look the other and that is interception number three on the day well they didn't let him get loose for a big return but he still made the big play and they'll take over at the 17 man that is Picture Perfect cover zero when I play cover zero I'm bringing pressure and that Ball's going to come out look at the defense ready for that ball to come out back's hand nice job breaking on the football and going to making the interception two running backs alongside the quarterback free snap Motion in the back field got some room enter to the goal line touchdown long horns and the route is on and bio's really starting to s narl right now and he'd love to rub the sooner Schooner's face right in it David yeah they got it cooking the long horns are looking good and this Riv game you got half the crowd and this burnt orange Jess that is going bananas right now Boomer Sooner got the weapons though guys on offense you've got the horses on the outside turn this thing into a track me I know you're down here but you can change this game it just takes one play about to kick it away after scoring the touchdown it bouns through the back of the end zone it'll be a Touchback guys we'll get another look at this okoma offense let's see if this drive goes better than the last one they were in and out quickly after the quick pick David yeah first play big mistake man now let's get this offense in a little bit of a rhythm maybe before you open it up again Palmer or do you trust him right away uh he seems to me like the guy maybe that just needs to kind of get into the flow of the game so maybe you get the running game going here and just give him some easy looks to let him get landed up after the incompletion it's second and 10 from their own 25 looking for a man it's Arnold he'll take another shot here and they can't hook up going for the big play on second down now it's third down and this quarterback is living dangerously right now obviously he threw a pick on the last Drive he's trying to complete that throw but the the defender gets a hand on it tips it up in the air that's oh no that is an oh no situation they're lucky that one hit the ground on third down going up top oh he loves to Fire downfield and this is dropped incomplete pass he had a huge gain in his fingers and he couldn't hold on the suiters will try to pin them back with the punt now don't forget and I'm sure he hasn't he had one blocked earlier this is a spot you see many returners try to take a chance but not this time the fair catch just inside the 40 so Texas has it again and here comes the [Music] offense got it they'll put the ball in play from just inside their own 40 at the 39 from the gun running back on the Move turns it on in Midfield in his sophomore season he's really learned to find that Running Room and that is just an attitude run running it right up the middle right into the teeth of that defense it's a first and 10 from the 42 yd line 42 SPID they're going to ride this running back gets it past to marker and the defense finally makes the stop after the sweet run and good game I know this is an offensive line that has a ton of Pride and they want to come out each and every game and really impose their will on the dline they got just enough push there on that run play to pick up the first shakes off the defender and he picks up a first down that is not a flag on the play it's just lerie on the deck after that move and listen if it ain't broke don't fix it I I mean I love teams that commit to the run and when it's successful keep running the rock yeah David I I think this offensive line right now they've got a lather going they're really sort of getting oh there's the ball defense falls on the ball going to be a turnover I love those smashes where you can hear it up here Reese goodness gracious you can hear the contact such a big lick the offensive guy doesn't hold on to the football huge momentum swing big turnover forced by the defense quarterback changing the plays at the line back to pass it's Arnold unloads to the wide out how about that play to get a hand in there and force the incompletion man this defense takes tons of pride in their past defense they've got athletes on the back end that can break on the ball and they've got hands too we've seen them pluck three picks already they almost got another one there and it's incomplete going for the massive explosive play instead they're looking at a third down this is going to be a key that we look at this entire game how can this defense find ways to affect this quarterback and get pressure on him because they felt coming into the game if they could do that they could affect him and influence this passing game on Third and long try to convert through the air this has been a frustrating day and I'm not sure it's going to get any better you're already down huge listen this offense can't protect this quarterback they don't do anything right right now this defense has had their number all game long the Sooners will call on their punt team and don't forget he did have one blocked earlier he gets it away from his own End Zone not going to risk a return here he'll make the fair catch here comes the Texas offense that fumble in plus territory just ruined that last Drive David yeah and those are frustrating when you got the offense moving a little bit and you put that thing on the deck Jesse but move on reload forget about it at the end of the day it's just fundamental football right they practice it all week five points of pressure every ball carrier has to have it they just got to do a better job moving forward Qs when you see Zone covers man can you play defense when you have a good pocket and you've got time to throw he had a little bit of time to throw you can move guys with your eyes that drag comes wide open quarterback feeling that pressure and he's knocked down at 22 playaction pass success has a lot to do with selling that fake you could tell defense was not buying it got in the back field got the big BL wide receiver now comes in motion quick pass on the Fly motion pass the 30 he's right out of bounds but a big play on that one and it'll be a first down I love that play call and I love the timing of the fre snap motion because the quarterback was able to get it to the receiver right behind the offensive line because of the timing he was able to outflank the defense that puts him out in space where he's able to use his speed nice job with the pre- snap Motion in time keep pounding away at this defense and make them play the run if you can get this many a chunk they're going to have to commit more guys to the Box more guys to the Run then you open it up for the [Applause] passing and the heat gets there and they get him down at the 14 yd line we've seen this defensive men make a lot of plays in The Run game he setting the edge he's forcing the football to go back inside but he's not a one- TR opponent he can also get out of his stance use his hands and use his speed to beat offensive tack as he get to the QB really need to pick up this conversion and avoid having to settle for the the field goal gets it out fast they make the tackle but he's got a fresh set of downs and it's first and goal from the seven we've seen really nice balance here on this drive quarterback's three for three he's picking this defense apart they've also run the ball well too and here they are down close to the goal line this defense has no idea what's coming next they'll dial up the run on first and goal and this one will be stopped for No Gain No Doubt offense wants to keep running the football to win this game but I'm wondering if they're starting to go to the well too often they got to start showing some new wrinkles here in the second half wide receiver shows motion touch pass on the rock well and on these little push passes timing is so important you're trying to snap it right as he's getting a full head of steam when he gets the ball he's hitting the outside and David he puts the defense in such a difficult spot you immediately have to be rotating when you see that motion so everybody's got to communic kind of buff over that's why offenses love to run it just it makes the defense communicate and see if you can just get him out of a spot touchdown Texas and The Stomping has commenced another rushing touchdown that's now two on the game this offense thought they could come into this one running the ball being the more physical team and they look like it right now the kick is up and good and put one more on the lead and let's check in with Kevin in the studio Kevin all right guys a little update on what else is happening in college football this weekend Georgia is currently trailing but if this young star leads a comeback today he could join Matthew Stafford and ston Bennett among the greats to play in Athens it's less than a touchdown lead they're trailing by six to Mississippi State we'll Circle back if anything changes in this exciting college football matchup and how about that one Kevin will be keeping an eye on everything going on elsewhere looking downfield it's Arnold can't find his man as he took a shot trying to deliver that football and it'll be second down couldn't make the connection last time let's see if they throw it [Applause] again he wants to pass it on second down and is knocked away an incomplete the defensive back staying in phase and batting it away nice job in coverage there offense trying to take a shot downfield the defender able to tip that one up in the air and force it incomplete on Third and long he has to throw for it that pass not close as he got drilled trying to deliver it and it'll bring up fourth down and the Sooners line up to punt it away and don't forget and I'm sure he hasn't he had one blocked [Applause] earlier and the punt team able to smack him to the ground and the Texas offense will take over the longhorn sending the offense back onto the field first snap of this drive comes from their own 44 they'll give it to the back and they'll stop him just short of the first down just inches away from moving the sticks they'll line up for a second down play and that would be the definition of first down success putting yourself in a good position it's second in inches I can do whatever I want next I can take a shot down the field I can run the football and get a new set of downs like nice first down execution wide out in motion he's looking to throw it caught over the middle it's balen and brought down looks as if that's how we'll end the third guys it is Texas who holds the lead let's take a quick look at the national rankings to see how this playoff race is shaping up so will the beat down continue or is this a comeback for the ages in store we'll see as we start the [Music] fourth we'll start the quarter offense about to snap it on second down 29 Philly flip it flip it check ready go looking for a crease it's blue able to squeeze out a couple on the play it's down at the 35 Third down after the run motion from the offense on Third and short they'll try to pick it up on the ground here and eventually taken down but what about that spin move gives him the first down yardage the LGH horns look to keep this drive huming the offense showing motion from the tight end trying to get a read on the D leaves it with the back breaks the tackle how about the play by the speed back you think about speed you think about breaking ankles he broke the tackle because he's so fast moving so fast hard to get the guy on the ground sixy pick up on first down leaves him with second and [Applause] four softened him up with a run and now to throw caught in the back field it's blue and maybe he'll get back to the line of scrimmage but no more than that nice job defense you always hear people talk about tackling the catch you saw it right there there was nowhere for that receiver to go once he had possession as a result no [Applause] game they'll keep it on the ground they want this clock to move what a Nifty run there to pick up the first down and if it ain't broke don't fix it just keep running the football everything is going according to plan right now they've been able to stay on the field they put some nice plays together back to back to back and they're bleeding the clock this is exactly what you practice for for situations like this just keep doing what you're doing up Ang they've moved it forward to the two now it's second and goal easy wide receiver coming across in motion they're going to run it touchdown long hard and the beat down has ensued they give themselves a little more cushion as they try to reel off their fourth straight win now they've got a little breathing room they are in firm control of this game guys but you never want to let up in a rivalry game because it only takes one play we know how much of a factor momentum can be in these types of rivalry games David So this game still far from over and this is where my leadership and my experience comes into play when you got guys that have been through these fires been through these rivalry games you know the swings happen quick now you got to swing it back your way so Oklahoma has it again and here comes the offense their Drive start is starting to look a little monotonous punt punt punt David and their defense is starting to get a little frustrated too they just keep putting me back on the field possession after possession Jesse this offense needs to get their heads out of there you know what the punters on the sideline with the oxygen mask right now he's been playing so much he's not used to this this offense they just got to stay on the field they've got to put a drive together and get some balance going running and throwing the ball back to throw it's Arnold and he was hit just as he released it and it falls to the turf and the quarterback gets hit again we already know this defense has gotten home to him multiple times in this game so here you are you're trailing in the game defense knows you're going to throw it they're pinning their ears back you can't feel very confident right now if you're the play caller and certainly if you're the quarterback that you're going to have time to throw and that one's incomplete they Wen just trying to move the chain they were trying to move the scoreboard instead it's fourth down and that's just the kind of game it's been for this quarterback in this offense you got a great game plan all week long you're watching it throughout practice you think you're going to have a chance to light up the scoreboard but they're just not able to hook up you got to give this defense a ton of credit they've done a great job in coverage they've been breaking on passes they've had their number and that's why they're leading by as much as they are and here comes the Texas offense back on the field this offense has really been clicking in the game so far Jesse no doubt everything their play caller is dialing up these guys offensively have been able to go out and execute David yeah and it's just maintaining the lead keep doing what you've been doing you got a big lead let's just keep piling it on until they find an answer got three on first down it's second and [Applause] seven they'll try the left side they bring him down and he's going to lose a yard on that one it's going to be tough sledding for the offense here they're trying to ice this game by running the football and leading the clock they've got a pretty good lead here late in the game but the defense knows the run's coming right so they're going to be loading the line of scrimmage getting stops like and the ball's on the ground and the defense has it everybody reverse escaped and he's brought down and this defense gets the ball back for Ito oh and it's a hit like that that will absolutely light up the sideline light up the stadium change the momentum and help you win a football game because that hit is what caused that fumble dropping back it's Arnold he uncorks up another interception that's his four of the day and they'll close in on him after a good return on the interception the number one objective for a defense is to make the offense one dimensional well when they're trailing by this much late in the game they're one dimensional they have to pass the football we can bring more speed on the field you see it we know you're throwing the football nice break on the football nice interception this one's almost over and the defense snows him under after a very short gain after picking up a couple it's second and eight going to run it it's blue one step WRA Two Step squeeze this junior knows how to get him on the ground after the last run would you just give it to him again on third down fast motion from the offense they'll run it out of the shotgun he's dropped behind the line of scrimmage that'll be a loss of three defense uses a timeout the clock stopped with 17 seconds left that linebacker was a heat seeking missile and the heat that he sought was the ball carry great job great field linebackers are making all the calls in the defense and understanding when I need to come through that Gap and come through with bad intentions those guys are usually 245 lbs of he seeking missile the speed the shiftiness the elusiveness all on display and that sweet return there and after this play the cake will be [Applause] baked going up top on first down fires deep toward the end zone and the pass goes incomplete looking to make things look a little tighter on the scoreboard but that's going to do it this game always brings out the best in both teams but today Jesse Texas Best was a little better and this is a win for them that's going to help their recruiting coaches are going to get paid for but most importantly David Texas gets bragging rights for another whole year a whole year of bragging and a whole year of telling U fans you're not as good as us you can throw up the hook them horns you can do it with pride a lot on the line every year in the Red River rival it may not be a crown but it's a hat and it is golden in this latest
