Madden 24 - Los Angeles Rams @ Green Bay Packers - All-Time Teams Week 9

Pregame [Applause] it's the NFL on EA Sports and the question is are you ready for some football it's the Los Angeles Rams and the Green Bay Packers and it comes your way next on Madden football we are at the oldest continually operating stadium in the NFL as you get to look inside Lambo field in Green Bay with wiconsin coming up we've got what should prove to be a good one in the NFC as it'll be the Los Angeles Rams taking on the Green Bay Packers with Charles Davis as always I'm Brandon Gard Charles you talk about storylines in this one I think it begins and ends with our two quarterbacks certainly two of the best in the business and nowadays I don't think you can get by for long periods of time without a Top Flight quarterback the way the game is played with all the respons responsibility he has and how the game flows through him if he's not on the top of his game your team's not going to benefit at all [Applause] [Applause] 1st quarter Mason Crosby of the Packers has it teed up and off we go from Lambo and he opts to not bring this one out the first drive will start at the 25 so out come the Rams now for their first possession and a glance here at the vet he's got a lot of years under his belt in the National Football League every quarterback in the NFL has a little bit of his own signature style out there but for this guy he really plays the game in a different way it's led to a couple double takes from us up here as we see him as something truly unique it's not that he's just the strongest passer or the best athlete to ever played a position he just has a certain way of seeing the action and allows him to make some special plays out there they'll start on the ground here on first down and nothing doing he's immediately taken down at the line of scrimmage call it no gain on the game's first play and it's second down now and he got off the end there very quickly to make that play yeah it was almost like the bullet train wasn't it I mean just zoom quick quick quick and what a terrific play holding them to No Gain to throw on second down Warner connecting with cup here on the out route nine yds and that leaves him just short so it'll be third and less than a [Applause] yard they'll give to Fulk up the middle and he will have a first down as they get him to the ground at the 37 didn't get it by much but bottom line got the first down avoiding that three and out how vital is that on the first drive to me it's like the first round of a boxing match you know it may not mean much right then and there but you'd rather not lose it right so you want to go ahead and get it kind of establish something early and hope it can carry through playaction it's Warner now a diving effort right sideline he's got it that's a gain of 13 first down Rams every coach we ever talk to says to his team before the game quick start guys let's get out of the gate fast how about that they took his lesson to heart didn't they they did exactly that a nice diving catch here on the game's opening drive from the Midfield strike they'll look to throw throwing right and that's complete and he is tackled inside the 40 not quite to the 35 backto back nice gains that one for 14 yds and another [Applause] first now Warner he finds his man complete it's hul and this will leave him a yard short nice pickup of nine yds on first down but yet another completion here on this opening drive and he's now perfect four of four to start pretty solid execution here and how about how everyone's handled their nerves because you know what it's like to start a ball game you're so amped up and ready to go and sometimes the execution isn't there they've been Flawless so far well drilled well prepared and excited to start this game now a second down throw for the End Zone but it's incomplete and that might have been a situation where even though you don't hit on the Deep throw you at least put in the defender Minds early in the game that we're going to press the ball deep against your secondary and that can have a ripple effect on how they function [Applause] throughout here's Warner able to find the open man that's complete and he is going to have a Rams first down as they're able to convert by plenty there on Third and one and the pocket's been protected pretty good here so far on the opening drive we always talk about confidence in Runners and catch and quarterbacks how about the protection detail they're not allowing anyone near the guy throwing the football a play fake now Warner this will be caught inside the 10 and the Rams are going to have a first and goal as he's taken down at about the 8 yd line a lot of precision being shown on this opening drive they've been methodical they've been Crisp And as a reward they're going to be set up with an early first and goal first and goal a chance for an early statement here on the road to throw Warner to the end zone but it's incomplete he was in search of his TI end Tyler higgy but it'll be second and goal now a give inside for f and he'll work his way closer to the goal line as he's got five down to the three driven it down the field nicely here on the opening drive and now it's put up or shut up no doubt about it because to make that type of a drive and ultimately kick a field goal would feel very disappointing but I'm just wondering is the head coach thinking is this four down territory might he go for it he'll try again and he is into the end zone touchdown Los Angeles a three- ydd touchdown run and the Rams have taken the early lead on the road here at Lambo and that caps off what was really a balanced opening drive for them Charles they work in the rushing game and the aerial attack and they end it with a touchdown strong in so many ways wasn't it partner their ability to throw it and run it and accomplish their goal they've got to like the way that they started this ball game the point after through the raindrops up and good and it's now a seven nothing [Applause] game now after the touchdown it's zerline he'll kick it [Applause] away and he will make it to the 20 yd line and no further so here comes the Packers offense now onto the field and leading him out their veteran quarterback every time he leads his team out there's no questioning he's put the work in to earn his place in the NFL there's no shortage of stories we've heard throughout his career about the effort he puts in to be in this spot and that motivates everybody on his team on first down Rogers that's complete to Sharp and he'll be coralled right around the 34 15 yds is the pickup there and the drive starting very nicely first down we'll see what kind of mindset they have here offensively after giving up the touchdown on the opening drive and based on our time with them you know prior to this game I feel like they've got a good mindset going in in fact the discussion that we had with the coaching staff was you know we may give up some points in this game so offense has to be ready each and every time there goes green and he makes it all the way down to the 19 it's a big play there for Green Bay 37 y a wet track like this I don't know if it helps anybody but it probably helps the offensive player running the ball more than the defense and while they're doing that there's also the matter of focus not letting the elements get in the way of still doing everything you're supposed to do although you do think to yourself I've got to hold it a little bit tighter and be more careful with my footing he was careful got a big run out of it into the Red Zone it's Rogers he gets this into the hands of Taylor and they'll work this down to the 15 for a pickup of four well offensively that's the mismatch that you want you want to force a linebacker to try and cover your back out of the back field out in some open space but linebackers nowadays they run like backs and they take a lot of pride in covering what a nice play he made there in the open field the middle of the field he's got Nelson and the Packers are going to have a first and goal as he'll be taken down seven yd line well Brandon obviously no panck in them they gave up the touchdown you know their defensive side did that but he's already taking them back down field I love this field General that they've got it's almost like he went to the defensive captain said don't worry about it we've got you now they got first and goal yeah we're seeing punch counter punch and this could be setting the table for quite the game I like that let's let's go and put in the boxing ring right you're going to get hit sometimes can you respond and hit back and they're trying to do exactly that a loss of a full three yards and now it's second Down A Tail of Two extremes First Carry he went for a bundle his second goes backward and how many times have we seen that happen because you get that big carry and you come back and you're all fired up and sometimes you force a run a little bit right trying to break off that big carry again and instead it works opposite on second and goal they'll give it to him again and Running Room hard to come by here he gets it down to the eight only a couple yards there and that's going to set up a long third and goal partner I know we're in a goal to go situation but my goodness think about running the ball here not even a thought is it defensively they're in a prime spot and I think the defensive guys are probably expressing themselves to them as well I wouldn't run it here guys you might want to try throwing it and he's got it it's caught for a Packers touchdown from 8 yds out and the Packers respond to that opening drive touchdown with one of their own and the QB rating right now Skyhigh four for four on that opening drive and it ends with a touchdown pass yeah I don't know quite how to figure it out I think I need my friends from MIT to come in and help me I think 158.3 is the number one right that's the highest you can get that's where he is he'd like to continue on that [Applause] pace extra point Up and Good by Crosby and we are tied at seven so that a seven playay 80 yd drive and the result a Green Bay [Applause] score each team's had it each team has scored seven seven here as the kicks away this taken in right around the goal line and no alley to be found the coverage was solid and he's dropped at the 18 so the Rams coming back onto the field their second Drive of the game [Applause] they'll start this drive out on the ground and he'll take this one up to about the 23 five yds is the tally on first down that brings up second and five I think we all suspected that they were going back to him after he found the End Zone on his last carry and they kept the positive momentum going there another nice run by him here's a second and five warner oh he'll want that one back incomplete he doesn't drop too many in that department third down he'll definitely say that that's one he should have held on to but when you're playing in elements like this sometimes those bullet passes those ones with a little bit of pace on them they can be difficult to hold on to they come up now third and five following the incomplete pass now Warner and that one goes incomplete on the drop that's one he definitely normally catches fourth down and this is what you want to see from a defense give up an opening drive touchdown that's fine but how about them going back out there recommitting themselves to the task at hand and forcing a three and out and giving the ball back to their offense on fourth down the punt team is on as this is sent away fair catch called for and taken right near the 30 yd line the Packers offense here coming back out for their second drive and that last touchdown drive a good mix of pass and run defensively they just looked a little out of whack and it's so hard to stay up with an offense that has things going so well where you're guessing and guessing wrong play after play so what you need is someone on the defensive side of the ball to make a big play throw that balance out of whack that's what you're looking for now not worrying so much about guessing what the play call is now Rogers throw taken in by Taylor left side and he gets this up across the 35 before he's out of bounds it'll go down as a gain of six and that'll bring up second down [Applause] [Applause] they'll try the left side it's green and he's dropped right at the 40 gain of three that's some good tackling there to keep him short of that yellow line yeah defensively all I'm thinking is that on that play get me to third down get me into a position where I can make one more play and get my defense off the field so they just need one yard here to pick up the first down [Music] on third down green and this play will be blown up he'll lose yardage back at the 38 that'll back him up two yards and also bring up fourth just a simple run play there on Third and one but this D was up to the challenge and stopped them bringing up fourth down on now is the Packers punter as he's on to punt for the first time this afternoon so just a three yd return following a punt of 45 and the Rams will go on offense here with a first and 10 La set to take over again on offense he's guys definitely hoping for a better showing than their last appearance they couldn't really even move the football much beyond the Shadows of their own goal post Charles we'll see if they can get a better more sustained drive going here yeah and every team that we ever talk to says the exact same thing when you start a drive from that deep in your own territory the goal is a minimum of at least two first downs because even if you have to punt then you change the field position right you flip the field a little bit they didn't get that done this time they want to string together a nice drive and help themselves out vision is so important for the man in the middle because his ability to to to look through all the Clutter that's happening in front of him diagnose a play and then go make it and finish it that's when the great ones know that they have the goods now they show Jet Sweep but instead a run up the middle here and he's going to have a Rams first down as he'll take this forward to the 27 well they came into this game saying it was important that they set the tone and show that they can run the football I believe that they've done that here in the first quarter on First and 10 Warner short throw it's higgy and give him six yards here as he stopped near the 35 at the 34 now that's staying ahead of the chains really good pick up on first down hitting the tight end there now brings up a second and manageable just found a hole in that zone and from the 34 here's second and four Warner to throw throwing the out route incomplete that's H and just three yds on the catch there he couldn't get away and they'll be faced with a third and [Applause] inches Warner from the gun work the middle of the field and he's got a man complete and he is going to have a Rams first down and he'll have it by plenty as they're able to keep the drive alive on Third and inches 7 s our score after one the Rams with the football here to begin the second quarter as they've got it with a first and 10 [Applause] 2nd quarter [Applause] again he'll drop to throw short throw it's higgy completion was given up but that's why you play zone defense so you can have people around the ball when it's caught and you don't give up much run after the [Applause] catch second and five they'll look to throw again it's complete he finds faul here and he's out of bounds as he gets this down to the 45 six yds the pickup and that's a first down well they've certainly done a nice job spreading the ball around on this drive this time he gets it out to his back and it's another nice play and another first down they've got the defense on their heels a little bit they're reacting instead of being aggressive in making plays Packer pressure and down he goes the defense rising to the challenge and setting him back on the sack okay I'm not sure you could actually draw a better pass rush than that one right there nowhere to go outside he had to keep backing up and backing up and backing up eventually dropped for a huge loss [Applause] so after the sack a scenario you certainly don't work on too often second and 24 from the shotgun he'll look to throw and he short arms that one just a bit it's low and incomplete and Charles got to like what this defense has been able to do these last couple of plays yeah they get the sack on first down then they force incomplete pass now they're just a play away from getting the football right back but it's a big play they they've got to hold up the Rams on third down they've been near perfect four for five to this point this will be third and a mile back to throw Warner he's going to look deep down the field and that will be incomplete well they weren't scared to let it fly but it falls to the ground and brings up fourth down thus far they have been able to move the line of scrimmage very well in the running game almost felt like they said in the Huddle can you guys pass protect let's take a big sh down field didn't get it on that one but they may come back to it again 46 on his first kick this one in that neighborhood as well and no one there to stop it hits at the eight but it carries all the way into the end zone for a Touchback Green Bay's offense ready to go again and Charles a very uninspired effort the last time we saw them out there it was a quick three and out then they punted the football yeah and you never want to get stopped so soundly during a series but what would be even worse now is letting it happen again right here they've got to get going throwing on first down is Rogers and that's complete to Adams and he'll go down at the 26 following a gain of six from the 26 they'll line up on second and four now Rogers oh rifles one and that's going to be intercepted and he's going to get this on down to the 13 yd line okay partner no surprise to you I'm going to look at this from the defensive perspective in the rain you have to be more cautious trying to cover passing routes why the offense knows where they're going with the football the receiver knows the route he's going to run you have to make sure you keep your footing underneath you here's a Los Angeles offense as they get set to take possession following the interception they're set up nicely here already inside the Red Zone knocking on the door if you will first and [Applause] 10 from the 13 now they work on First and [Applause] 10 throwing to start the Drive Warner touchdown from 13 yds out and the Rams have taken the lead I think if you pulled defensive backs they would say the corner route take that out make it illegal because that is so hard to recognize and so hard to adjust because your first move is to not get beat in the middle of the field field and that's how they move you first before they break off to the corner but then as the wide receiver great job it's tough to turn those up field and go but he did a great job with it there really good balance really good body control and how about the end result a touchdown zerline connects on the extra point and that makes the score 14-7 [Applause] now after the touchdown it's zerline he'll kick it [Applause] away and he's up past the 20 to the 22 yd line [Applause] this is going to put him back with a not great field position so they really got zero benefit at all right sometimes you can absorb a penalty when you get a big return then the penalty brings it back but you still have great field position as you pointed out not in this case [Applause] [Music] up the middle they go green taking it right down Broadway and he gets this one just shy of the 35 to the 34 69 yds rushing for him now on just six carries to this point we've seen him break off a big run already in this game and for a second that one looked like it might be another yeah I think that any defense would say look we can't let him get to the second level because sometimes he'll break off the big run on his own but often times you get additional blocking at the second level which gets you deeper into the secondary and he'll Rumble for about five up close to the 40 if you're a coach you'll absolutely take that run every time on first down because it really sets you up to go in a number of directions here on second four receivers to keep tabs on here three of them to the right side on second and five throwing is Rogers he's going to float this one deep right side and this is dropped oh it's incomplete he had a big gainer in his sights but he could not reel it in and that is not what you expect from a receiver of his caliber sometimes you get a little ahead of yourself you don't look it in and all of a sudden it's on the ground a surprise to all they come up now third and five following the incomplete pass here's Rogers to throw he's got his Target that's complete and he is going to have the pass first down they needed five there on third down he winds up getting seven and Brandon from our time in college football where receivers weren't running the traditional NFL route tree one thing they did learn find open areas find soft spots and set up and catch the ball and I think we just saw that there yeah we saw that indeed picking up the first and he's going to take this one across Midfield and into RAM territory five yds on the carry good pick up on first down and that's exactly what you want on a first down run pick up five yards bring up second and five the defensive line though they've got to figure out a way to out leverage the guys up front because the offensive line is winning at the point of attack here's Rogers he's got his man sharp complete catch number four for him on the afternoon and it'll give him a first down I think that's a big pick up for a first down because when you run a drag rout against Z own you're sometimes asking for trouble because you might run into a Defender yeah well there they ran into a first down executed it to perfection in motion right one of the tight ends on first down it's green and past the 35 he'll be dropped a yard or two shy of the 30 give him 10 there good enough for a Packer first down for a lot of guys playing this game there's no no better feeling than running right through a tackle he's a to lower Center gravity and turn his legs for a really nice pick up from the 32 now here's first and 10 they'll try the left side with Taylor and he Maneuvers up the middle for three and it's second down when a drive goes this long you have to give a lot of credit to the guys up front those Big Fellas because the offensive line is putting something together that allows them to continue to control the ball I know a lot of people think they get fatigued on a long drive actually a lot of times a reverse happens they actually get energized because they're controlling the ball and they're the ones dictating to the defense it's a short one here complete to his tight end two yds on the pickup there and it brings up third and five now yeah that one was covered pretty well because they were trying to leak the tight end out into the flat I think they were hoping he could catch and turn up field pick up the first down this offense so far on third down they' been okay two for three thus far this will be third and five now Rogers dancing to his left and he'll be stopped well short only two yards there fourth and three like any team playing they're looking for touchdowns to try and help their cause but in this case he does get them a little closer at least if they think a field goal turns out to be the better call here [Applause] so on now for the Packers is their all-time leading score Mason Crosby from the left hash it's a 42 yd attempt the kick by Crosby is good and they'll cut the lead back down to four now at 141 so they are able to end that drive with three points in this one possession ball game and ideally you want to end every drive with points most quarterbacks would tell you let's end it with a kick right a pat that's number one field goal you'll take puns you really don't want to do that in this case they'll take the field goal and get prepared for the rest of the [Applause] game after the mid field goal now Crosby will do the kickoff duties and he won't return this one he'll go down to a knee and they'll start at the 25 the LA offense for this next possession and thus far the weather has not slowed this offense down one bit they've looked good so far in the first half they certainly have and think back to our meeting with the head coach and we asked him because we saw the forecast for this game didn't we we said hey have you prepared for this and he talked about the different drills that they've done in adverse conditions the wet ball drills things of that nature he said I don't think it's going to slow us down much we tend to handle it pretty well and he's been right it'll be Warner on first down firing quick quickly here and that's complete and he's upended at the 33 following a good pick up of [Applause] [Applause] eight here's a second and two now from the 33 playaction it's Warner that'll be caught it's c a big play there for La 42 yds well they' looked his way quite a bit in this first half and with good reason you can see it there he has such a handful defensively just too hard to keep him under wraps and delivers a big play here for this offense three tight ends in the ball game here on First and 10 now a give left side to F and they are able to stop him but he does take it all the way to the two good yardage as he rumbles for 24 and a first we both know it's difficult but they've made it look effortless out there through the air on the ground they've moved the ball with relative ease so three plays already first and goal and they are wasting little time they'll go right back to the ground with Faulk and they will stop him after a fairly minimal pickup only a yard on the pickup there second and goal all of a sudden those lanes that were there earlier in the drive dry up near the goal line that's a good job defensively to diagnose the run and stop it for a very short [Applause] pickup on the handoff this is f and he'll get into the end zone touchdown Rams a great play there with his second touchdown here in this first half and the Rams are able to stretch out their lead and always a good first half when you can hit Pay Dirt twice and it never hurts to have that good feeling as the game moves on just think about halftime if if that's is all he gets he'll just sit there at the half and think all right two already I can get some more I get some more and he'll be encouraging his offensive line to create some space zerline good with a Pat and that makes it a 21-10 game [Applause] now after the touchdown it's zerline he'll kick it [Applause] away and he returns this to the 22 the Packer offense now ready to get back onto the field and this not an easy situation you're down early in the elements you're on the road how do you get the mojo back well one thing is to remember that as an offensive player you have a much better idea of what you're trying to accomplish and where you're trying to go than the defender so in this case because you know it you can make your Cuts with a little more decisiveness maybe a second fake some double moves things of that nature to go ahead and try and put some pressure on the defense looks like he's going to get a couple here on this first down carry and that'll make it second and eight I if they want to start getting back into this game it behooves them to get better on first down yeah certainly not what they were looking for there out of the opening play of this drive this is second and eight working from the gun Rogers oh he'll want that one back incomplete he doesn't drop too many in that department third down fair to say hasn't been his best game throwing the football but also not getting a lot of help out there either yeah you kind of you nailed it pretty well you know he's got to throw it better got to get more help obviously one that should have been caught they've got to find a way to bring those those two elements together so they can make some progress in this one able to find the open man that's complete and he has a big gain inside the 40 before being dropped a big gain of 38 there on third down he scored their touchdown earlier and this had a chance to be another this secondary scrambled for answers looking at each other trying to figure out who is going to put the clamps on this guy because right now he's absolutely shredding [Applause] them so how about that for a chain mover they're all the way down inside the 40 now for first and 10 on play action it's Rogers on the right side caught by Green the result only four yds there on the play and it's second down I know it was a gain but you have to sense probably a little bit of disappointment there because when it's out there an open space I think they expect to get more out of a play don't you especially when you're getting it to your guy out of the back field you're expecting him to be able to create something be a little more Shifty yeah no doubt about it good open field tackling held it to an okay gain second down and six now now it's Rogers and he bats it away and it falls down incomplete let's give some credit to the defensive guys on that play able to bat that one away sure looked like they were trying to hit the corner route so third down they need to get to the 28 for a first all right let the false starts going to push him back but these days how hard must it be to be an offensive lineman it's very hard Brandon you've got defensive lineman flinching trying to draw you off Sid you've got the loud crowds and there are just so many super athletic players on defense now that you have to deal with each week but through it all these guys just sit in there for four quarters and Slug It Out so the false start certainly doesn't help matters as they'll try again now third and long Rogers going to throw he lets this one fly toward the back of the end zone that's going to be knocked away and incomplete there is something to a game plan with trying to keep a defense honest with a guy with that type of speed you do so send him deep try and throw some air under it and hope you connect downfield on that play they were unsuccessful and he missed it it's no good and they will remain two scores down as the difference holds at 11 yeah 55 yds is anything but a gimme you got to really concentrate on your leg swing and proper technique this time though he's unable to convert there again is the running back as he trots onto the field he's been good his guys are winning so far the recipe working here in the second quarter he doesn't like to just Tote The Rock he wants to carry his team on his back and that's what he's done throughout this game yeah he's done that he'll be hoping to continue that Trend so good field position for the Rams as they come up first and 10 at the 45 to throw Warner short throw it's higgy so give him five yards there on the pitch and catch and it's second down they really love to get him into one-on-one opportunities and this is one way work him out of the slot and create a miss match who's going to cover him Corner safety linebacker he's got a way to beat all of those positions now second and [Applause] five now Warner quick hitter here it's complete they'll give him four yards there and that'll bring up what looks to be a third and inches can't be more than a half a foot [Applause] here's Warner and the Packers give him nowhere to go and they bring him down the Packers going to use one of their timeouts as they get the stoppage with just under 50 seconds remaining in half number one [Applause] so on fourth down here's Johnny Hecker to putt it away averaging over 50 yds a punt so far as this one's away and that hits at the six and Carries into the end zone for a Touchback the Packers with a football here laid in this first half well not much time remains here in this first half we'll see if they can get something out of this dve drive at least a field goal they could certainly use it down by two scores on First and 10 here's Rogers and his throw is going to be incomplete oh man for him to be that wide open and drop it sometimes you have just too much time on your hands right you end up thinking way too much and your hands get shaky and yes he's a tight end but that's a catch he should have made again from the 20 after the incompletion here's second and 10 Rogers now to throw and that falls to the ground incomplete a nice job of bodying him up defensively and now it brings up third down he did an okay job of absorbing the hit just couldn't secure the football ball through the catch and he was right there on the spot and forc the incompletion that's something Defenders work on all the time if you're there make the contact but continue to work your way through the receiver so that you can't possess the football and turn it into a catch the Rams going to go ahead and use the first of their timeouts as they'll stop it with a little over 30 seconds to go in the first half of play on now is the Packers punter as he'll kick it away for the second time this first punt 48 yds this one looks equally as good and no return on this one as the fair catch is signal for and taken a 41 yd punt there with no return and it will be first and 10 as they take over getting set to go again as we look at the back heading on to the field again we're in the second quarter they've got the lead the lead though not so much because of the ground game because of their Air Attack Charles so what they're seeing so far is the possibility of things loosening up later in the ground game through the air first maybe they have to start respecting that even more as the game goes on and then there will be running Lanes to find later yeah try to get him more involved here on this drive maybe now a first down throw Warner open man right side is C complete and he'll go out of bounds it looks like right at the 40 so the completion good for six yards and that'll make it second down Warner and that will be incomplete with a clock showing 18 seconds now to go you've always been very good about checking my math am I correct that's the first time that it's been incomplete when theyve thrown it to him yes he had caught every other ball coming his way so they feel like they've got something really good going there and they're going to continue to go there until the defense makes an adjustment takes it away well they finally made an adjustment there we'll see if they can build on that stop and now the third down throw incomplete as well that might be the third down stop that they needed because they've had a lot of trouble slowing down this offense in the first half this might be their opport to get off the field so on now is Johnny Hecker to putt this one [Applause] away and that'll hit it the five and go into the end zone for a Touchback [Applause] [Applause] about set to get this drive started the Green Bay offense at the line and with 8 seconds on the clock really not a lot of time to try to put anything together and he's tackled a yard short of the marker good gain of nine on first down now whistles and a timeout with three seconds left in the first half up at the 29 now they'll head to the line Second and a yard a final shot before half for Rogers he hits Adams complete and he'll go out near Midfield at the 49 so we have reached halftime here in an 11-point contest as we send you down to Orlando where Jonathan Coachman has our EA Sports halime report coach all right BG thanks very much and welcome one and all to our beautiful new downtown Orlando studios for this EA Sports halftime report we certainly treated to an entertaining first half both these teams with some high points and maybe a couple of low points as well so it's going to be a question of who can be the most disciplin team going forward [Applause] 3rd quarter forecast calling for more the same the rain set to continue as we are underway in the second half now the return Here Comes Randle C and his guys will get the football right at the 20 yd line the Packer offense ready to go to begin this third quarter Charles some things to like about that first half ultimately trailing here but certainly this deficit is manageable so curious to see what adjustments they may have made at intermission as am I because I think things boded well for a possible comeback because because I thought a lot of their best reps in the first half came through the passing game they were hitting the open receivers taking whatever the coverage gave them and making it work well for themselves now they just want to pick up the pace of scoring a little bit so I expect them to come out continue to throw the ball effectively and nothing much materializing there on the first down run he'll get a couple and that's it defenses always talk about earning the right to rush the passer on third down and you know what offenses want win first down so they can set things up for themselves better and that wasn't helpful there not a big impact on first down playaction now it's Rogers caught on the right side by Adams and he'll get this up to the 34 yd line two catches in the first half now he's got a third here and it's good for a first and that's one of the better plays we've seen this offense put together so far they haven't been able to get on track much at all but listen they're only down a couple of scores with the rest of this quarter and the entire fourth remaining so stranger things have happened a quick throw caught by sharp this will be stopped about two yd shy of the marker 8yd gain second and [Applause] two from the 42 now here's second and two [Music] they'll try the left side it's green and maybe a measure of Revenge there he's had his way in this one but this time they get him behind the line two yds the loss and now they go from second and two to a tough third and [Applause] four throwing now is Rogers and the Rams got him they bring him down looks like a nyd loss and it also brings up fourth I'd say it's not panic time yet but let's be honest about it empty possession here not what you're looking for when you're down a couple of scores absolutely not trying to start the second half off on the right foot unfortunately going to give the ball [Applause] up on now is the Packers punter as he's on to kick it away and a fair catch signal for and taken at about the 18 yd line so possession goes over here on the punt and they will take over first and 10 [Applause] a play fake now Warner got a man over the middle and it's complete and he's taken down but able to slip across the 35 this drive starting off on the right foot 18 yds tell you what a lot of those mid-range throws have been available because sometimes teams get too concerned about the Deep ball and they leave too much space in front of them and these guys have been taken advantage so far on First and 10 Warner got a man and he hits him in stride and a 6yd gain gets him right around the 43 [Applause] this second and four they'll bring a receiver in motion right he'll get it here on the Jet Sweep on this one it may need to go back to the drawing board he's going to be swallowed up right away it'll be a loss of a couple on the play so now third down coming up that's the danger Charles of running plays like this for your wide receiver they can hit big or they can be Duds yeah you're exactly right about that because if they're forced to try and go around Defenders behind the line of scrimage sometimes you can give yardage in order to gain it but in this case they gave yardage and didn't get it back now throwing on third down there but he cannot connect one first down here and That's all folks good work by this defense to hold things in check and force a ping situation here's Johnny hacker now he's been terrific so far fair catch called for right around the 11 yd line so a change of possession here on the punt and the Packer Drive will start from deep in their own territory with a first and 10 out they'll start on the ground here on first down and he'll go down after losing yardage at the 10 officially it's a one- yd loss that's going to bring up second and 11 well these guys going to chop into that deficit they're going have to do a much better job in the Run game caught behind the line of scrimmage no yardage would be found after the loss to start out here's second and 11 fell they run the counter green and for one of the few times here today this Run's not going to go anywhere no gain that time and it leaves him with third and 11 coming up he's having a big game running the football but that one will hurt the yards per carry a little bit Yeah but the average he's got so far that's the type of average he wants to take with him to contract negotiations doesn't he throwing as Rogers on on third down and this is going to be incomplete looks like another empty possession offensively and you're at that point of the game where you can't afford too many more of these so this going to require some heavy thinking on the sideline to figure out what they can do to crack this defense on now is the Packers punter as he'll putt it away for the fourth time today fielded at the 43 43 ydd punt but they get nine back on the return and the Rams are going to start this drive in great field position as they take over [Applause] [Music] [Applause] [Applause] Warner to throw he'll get this one to cup complete and he's coralled at the 40 but not before picking up [Applause] eight ball on the 40 now here's second and two [Applause] now Warner and it's knocked away and incomplete he didn't just deny a big throw there he broke that one up in the Red Zone an excellent play one that may help save points on the board when this drive is over so third and two this quite possibly four down territory though if they're stopped on the give here's faul and nothing but green grass here middle of the field touchdown La a great effort there 40 yards as his guys have opened up a very comfortable lead and here on third down your number one goal don't be a hero just get the first down but here once he gets past the line of scrimmage the field opens up for him and he's able to take it right up the gut and into the end zone now zerline on had the extra point and the lead is up to 18 now the drive there only spanning three plays and the Finishing Touch was that nice long run into the end zone now after the touchdown it's zerline he'll kick it away and he'll get it up past the 20 to about the 22 the Packers offense now they get ready to head back on the field I kind of feel like they've reached a Do or Die point in this game Charles if they're going to try to pull off an impressive comeback it has to start right here right now yeah now they've got a final chance to get out of this situation but they also understand they've got to move the ball and move it fast in addition they need to save as much time so they can get two more possessions now Rogers on the bootleg he'll find driver here and he's upended after a gain of four up to the 25 yd line from the 25 here's second and six on playaction Rogers it's caught here by Adams n yds the pickup there and it's a first [Applause] down now a hand off up the middle it's green and hit behind the line he lost the football it's loose oh and one of the linemen on the other side is got all these years we've been watching the game I start to get the sense that whenever it rains out those guys who have to touch the ball and carry it they're extremely resentful about that weather yeah I'm just happy I'm not resentful that we have a roof over our heads I know that much yeah maybe we won't fumble our play sheets here as we just saw the fumble happen on the field and now out on the field Here Comes Los Angeles it's a quick turnaround for him after the turnover but the way they moved it on their last Drive they're probably eager to get right back at it and you know me and you know my tend IES in this situation what do I want right now be aggressive be aggressive take your shot right here and now as with every potential turnover they're going to take a second look at this just to make sure and the question was the knee in fact down before this ball comes loose and is the video convincing enough to overturn it a lot of factors here remember you also need clear possession of the football afterwards this is a tough one to overturn on the Feld rever so that one overturned they say the knee was down and that will not be ruled a [Applause] fumble the fumble on first down now here's second down working from the gun Rogers on the out route to this is Adams with a [Applause] [Music] catch these guys have punted four times already and they're staring at a fifth barring a conversion here on third down up the middle they go it's green and he will have the first down as he's brought down up near Midfield and five yds on the play there as the drive will continue everyone understood their role on that play Third and one you know the defensive guys they're trying to get down and get low and get leverage on the offensive lineman but they didn't allow that to happen they created a crease and allowed him to get through for a first down running game working they'll stick with it on first down try to find a lane but instead he'll get back to the line of scrimmage and no more no gain on the play it'll be second down he can rack up those tackles in bunches in the Run game from that middle linebacker spot and what he has to do is make sure he congratulates the guys in front and tells them thanks a lot because as the guy in the middle the Mike linebacker you're counting on your front three your front four front five whatever you've got in front of you to take up all the blocking allow you to roam and hit and that's what he did on that play let's face it if you want to get back into the game these are the kind of throws you got to hit he's wide open right there got to be able to get it to him don't you think and those are the throws that haven't been available to them every time he's dropped the pass yeah that's a big Miss from the gun on third down Rogers that is caught he's going to have the first down and then Zone touchdown Packers a big play there 51 yds yards and the Packers get a bit closer and they just ran the fly route there didn't they you broke it down perfectly he ends up catching that one and taking it all the way into the end zone well thanks it was pretty simple to break down though I mean that's just a guy going running on the go route making a play speed speed speed and what does it do it kills there you go extra point try now for Crosby and that one makes this an 11-point deficit now so an eight playay Drive covering 80 yds and it ends with a Packers touchdown [Applause] now after the touchdown here's Crosby to kick it [Applause] away and he takes this near the 25 just a little pass there called it the 26 the offense for Los Angeles returns to the field their lead down down to two scores after the touchdown a moment ago as they start with a first and [Applause] 10 throwing to start the Drive Warner short completion just four yards and it'll be second [Applause] [Applause] [Music] down and they'll run on the inside hand off and they get him down but not before he takes it across the 40 yd line 103 yds for him on the ground now and three touchdowns to go along with it boy where would these guys be without his performance on the ground that puts him over 100 yards now for the afternoon and I tell you he seems to be getting stronger as the day goes along it'll be Warner on first down he finds his man complete that's Hol and the result here a pickup of eight leaves him with two to go on second down [Music] [Applause] from just across the Midfield stripe here's second and a couple now whistles and a flag down I think one of the Rams lineman might have moved and that flag accepted now after the false start here's second and seven one back in the back field he'll get the carry he'll be taken down at the 48 for a pickup of two yds well that's not a run that's going to make any of the Highlight tapes but they've been moving it well all game on the ground this is another one that keeps them moving forward here is third and five playaction it's Warner a throw out wide going to be incomplete well the other day they told us when we've got third and five or less we have to be able to convert and I guess every team would say that Charles but an opportunity missed there what they were trying to tell us is they believe it's a matchup game at that point and they lik some matchups that they had thought they could exploit them unable to do so on that play on is the punter Hecker as he gets this one away and no return here where will they spot it they say just outside the 20yd line the Packers offense now heading back out onto the field a strong showing their last time out they scored the touchdown but Charles they look up and they're still down double digits so you feel like just to keep Pace this drive probably needs to end in the end zone as well yeah and I think the best move for them is to not worry about how far they are down on the scoreboard but to just remember the last last drive and how it ended go ahead and try and repeat that then you can look at the scoreboard and see where this game is throwing on first down is Rogers he's got his man sharp complete and pass the 40 before he's out of bounds an ideal beginning of the drive there as they'll get 20 and a first down how about this throw right here had to throw it to the left sideline and you know the timing's got to be correct on this one Ball's got to be right where it needs to be and it was that's because he had great arm strength on that one able to drive the football quarterbacks love it when they can show off their arms they'll run on first down green and able to work about five yds out of this as he's taken down up near the 47 so both teams trade touchdowns in the third as we're through three quarters of play you are watching the NFL on EA Sports back now at Lambo from the 47 it's second and five it's the Packers 4th quarter who have the football but in need of points as we begin quarter number four and the Rams got him they bring him down they'll wind up losing a full nine yds here on the sack now it's third down remember throughout my career hearing defensive coaches always say guys you've got to earn the right to rush the passer well they put themselves in a great spot with this big lead and they know they've got to throw the ball these pass rushers have to be salivating it is pin your ears back time indeed so they'll go ahead and accept the [Music] penalty so the false start certainly doesn't help matters as they'll try again now third and long here's [Applause] Rogers and that is incomplete sometimes the game is pretty simple put a few extra defensive backs on the field give them nowhere to throw the football Force the incompletion and get off the field on third [Applause] down on now is the Packers punter as he's on for the fifth time here today taken it about the 16 that's a 49 yd punt eight though on the return and the Rams will go on offense here with a first and 10 a look at the running back the man out of the back field as he gears up to go again I guess it kind of goes without saying it this point but he's had a great game as we like to say a nose for the End Zone No Doubt continues to find it throughout this game and I'm sure he's got a nice place to live he might want to make an offer on the end zone for a second home because that's what it's been like throughout this contest he knows how to get there and boy he looks happy when he does he's already bought all the property in the end zone that's the problem he's going to sell to himself now and he'll get this just across the 25 yd line I know we can't hear what's going on in that huddle right now but I'll guarantee you at least one offensive lineman is saying my bad we simply couldn't move them off the line of scrimmage we've got to do a better job trying to root those guys out of there second down and [Applause] eight running right here's Faulk he takes this for three to the 29 the recipe is pretty simple I think right just give your Superstar the ball continue to feed him yeah don't overthink this one right make sure he's touching the football but you're also counting on his intelligence in playing the game as well if it's not there don't force the run just make sure you hang on to the football and keep the clock ticking to throw Warner able to find the open man that's complete and he is going to have a Rams first down as they're able to get the third down conversion Well normally you might say start running the football you've got the lead here in the fourth quarter but the way that they've passed it with such success I don't know maybe keep throwing it yeah I think you brought up something that goes against conventional wisdom right in this stage of the game you would think you would switch to a running attack but you're exactly right theyve thrown it so well throughout the game and trusting this quarterback I think he continue to do so knce his way forward here but just three yards on the play second down so where' all that Running Room that he had in the first half go because it looks like it's drying up a little bit here someone made some adjustments it appears at least on this drive from the 47 now they work with a second and seven and they'll give him another shot here on the ground and and this will be taken across Midfield and into Green Bay territory still about three yd shy of a first as the four yd pick up brings it to third down well if you're a football guy that's a pretty run because everyone is in sync right there obviously guy carrying the ball but how about the people up front leverage athleticism they created some nice space for him they'll run on third down with f and they will touch him down but not before he gets the first only three there on the pck pick up but that's enough to move the chains Brandon this can be so demoralizing for a defense they've had two opportunities to get off the field they haven't gotten it done so now your coordinator he's going to call every Blitz that he has any type of exotic something that they haven't seen before and he's also telling the defensive lineman don't worry about holding people up just getting gaps and try to make a big play and not only not getting off the field on two opportunities clock continuing to run and this winds up a gain of four to the 41 that's it now a second and six here's Warner throw right side going to be caught by higgy so just three yds on the completion there and that'll make it third down and that's why defensive coaches preach swarming to the football it's usually going to take more than one guy to get that big man down and it did right there multiple broken tackles but they eventually get him down so two of two on third down conversions on this drive and now they face a third and three here and intercepted maybe the turning point they [Applause] need and into the end zone it's a pick six and a packer touchdown well don't change that channel just yet this one may have gotten a bit more interesting put down the remote put down the clicker this one looked like it was over looked like they were ready to seal the deal but in doing so by pitching it around a little bit it cost them we could have a great finish here we go now as we get set for a big two-point conversion so after the int it's Rogers and they don't get it they tried for the two-point conversion there but unsuccessful I know they didn't tack on the two points but I liked their attempt after the interception return for a touchdown I was thinking to myself forget Kicking It Go for two and they did well yeah and everybody's scrambling maybe you catch the defense on their heels they weren't ready to be out there yeah it's almost like a sudden change right there's a turnover you take it away they stuck it in the end zone keep the momentum going give credit to the defensive guys for rallying and stopping that two-point attempt we so they'll get another shot on offense following that pick six and now the kick is away taken at about the [Applause] one and he'll take it a yard or so past the 20 call it the 21 the Rams ready to go on offense and now this fourth quarter becoming very interesting that pick six makes this a onore game still plenty of time on the clock we'll see how aggressive they choose to be I'll tell you far from ideal conditions to play in but neither offense has had much trouble plenty of points to go around first and 10 and he's going to be met at the line of scrimmage and taken down no gain on the play there second down so fourth quarter a nice run there to start this drive Charles what do you think the will be here between run and pass well partner I think it'll lean towards the run but this is also not a time where you just totally do that you still have to possess the ball move the sticks and keep the clock moving as well so they'll run their offense but yeah when they have a chance to run it they'll do that a little bit more the second down play not much better than the first just a gain of one there that's it that's what you want Straight Ahead positive gain just keep that clock tiing here's third and nine out of the gun here's Warner oh he had him he was open but he couldn't get it to him it's incomplete critical play in this football game because if they pick up the first there that clock keeps rolling has to be a little frustrating for them because they know that they pick up a first down there and continue to either away at the clock really increases their chances of closing this one out now they're likely going to have to give the football up and sweat it out on the sideline he's averaging just under 50 yds a punt as he gets this away now cob to return a good return there call it 13 yds and it'll be Packer football here first down and 10 the Green Bay offense ready to take over their defense accomplished step one of the mission they forc the punt now they'll look to erase that deficit and take a fourth quarter lead so good field position for the Packers as they come up first and 10 at their own [Applause] 44 Rogers going to throw he hits Adams complete and he takes this one down almost all the way to the 30 that one goes for 24 yds I got the sense that the defense created a little momentum for him there didn't they did their job forced the punt now nice start to the drive offense has to do their part yeah they certainly do but what a great start for them they got to go thank the guys on [Applause] D from the 32 now here's first and [Music] [Applause] 10 now it's Rogers and his throw is incomplete [Applause] second and [Music] [Applause] 10 they fake the give now Rogers and that's complete to Adams and only able to get two here stopped at the [Applause] 30 the 22 is the line to gain here on third down now a handoff up the middle it's green and his bid for the first down coming up short as he's tackled at the 25 it's a gain of five on the play and it'll bring up a third [Applause] [Applause] down they'll try and run for it so he F off the tackle and that effort gives him the first before he's brought down they're able to keep the drive alive seven yds that time and the decision to go for it proves to be a good one he's been tough for this defense to handle over a 100 yards you kind of knew that they were going to him on that play didn't you they certainly did that's one of those situations where you simply say my best runner over my best blockers let's go ahead and pick it up and I don't care if they know it on the other side here we come and they got it done and that's good for a gain of six and it'll be second down from the gun it's Rogers oh he'll want that one back incomplete he doesn't drop too many in that department third down everything looked right on that play except the conclusion he dropped it an in route going into a little bit of traffic maybe in the back of his mind he was wondering where the hit was going to come from this will be the eighth play of the drive here third and four here's Rogers to [Music] throw he's going to be sa back at the 23 yd line multiple Defenders getting home there for a loss of 11 you know on these types of plays we're always looking to assess blame okay where did it break down sometimes it's just a great play [Applause] so now one of the biggest kicks of the night is forthcoming this a 40-yd attempt from the left has the kick by Crosby is good and that will cut the lead down to just two so that gets him a little closer as he converts there but you have to think back to the field goal he missed earlier right now that's the difference between leading and trailing so at this moment he's reciting that kicker's prayer that we know so well just give me one more shot before this one's said and [Applause] done after the M field goal now Crosby will do the kickoff duties from a couple yards deep he'll bring it out of the end zone and only able to get this to the 19 so probably should have opted for the Touchback La reies for its next possession a little less than four minutes remaining and the margin for air is small with this slim lead operate within your 4minute offense here Charles definitely remember the four-minute offense doesn't always correspond to what's up on the clock what they need to do is play a little bit of keep away right now run the clock down make sure their opponent doesn't get the ball back their dream scenario get enough first downs and make them me up their timeouts so the game ends when you're kneeling down with the football stopped at the 24 yd line after a gain of [Applause] five clock continuing to run they'll probably wind this all the way before snapping it on second [Applause] down they'll try and run some clock here as they keep it on the ground and he's going to have to protect the football and take his lumps here at this stage of the game as they stop him behind the line now obviously that's some good work there defensively being able to stop them and bring up a key third down but if you're on the offensive side of the ball There's an opportunity because I know what defensive guys are thinking right now just stop them get to the ball that means they might not be sound defensively there could be some opportunities and you said key third down highlight that word put it in bold here we go oh this is going to depend on the spot but it's not a very generous one he looks to be about a yard or so short two minutes remain and that's our score differential as well two points here in the fourth quarter [Applause] here's Johnny hacker now as he's on to punt for [Applause] La fair catch called for and made at the 16 or maybe the 17 yd line so the Packers down by two a minute 55 remaining a field goal would be a game winner as they come up on first down Rogers to throw a quick throw there is incomplete work with me partner take a deep breath cuz that's what they're doing down the field now that incompletion allowed them to Exhale a little bit get in the Huddle kind of scan the crowd see if many celebrities are here relax a little bit as they start this big Drive they'll try again here second and 10 back to throw Rogers it's a short one here complete to the tight end he is taken down at the 21 after a short gain of two sometimes it's hard to figure but you can live with incompletions in this situation you can't live with these short gains that take time off the clock you know who loves it this defense [Music] well the elements the crowd the situation this is NFL football at its best here's third down he's got his Target that's complete and he's going to get out of bounds with the first down so that's going double their pleasure for sure they get the first and save a timeout they got exactly what they wanted there out route catch get out of bounds stop the clock and I have to criticize defense here because you know the situation you want to keep them inbounds and have the clock run so I'm sitting on the outside portion of the field and not letting him throw an out route throw anything inside and I'll make the tackle an out route that's not the way you're supposed to play it and now a throw on first down there but it's incomplete that's certainly not the worst thing it stops the clock and let your offense catch its breath and lets us exhale a little bit now I expect them to call a couple plays in the Huddle so they're ready if a tackle happens in bounds another try second and 10 now to throw is Rogers Pass complete to green and he's taken down right at the 45y line Brandon it's okay what they're doing right now still able to work the middle of the field but you know sooner or later they're going to have to stop the clock plenty of time and two timeouts still at their disposal first and 10 here now Rogers and it's complete to Adams the Rams going to go ahead and use the first of their timeouts that'll leave them with two remaining we'll be back after [Applause] this this is first and 10oc up the middle they go it's green he takes it across for the touchdown and they've taken the lead late in the final met of the fourth wow wow Charles what a big Drive late in the fourth quarter to take this lead and normally you're really excited if your offense has the ball late in the game but I think this crew is really excited to have their defense go back out there because they haven't surrendered a point in the fourth quarter yet they've helped make this comeback possible with their defensive play now they get a chance to finish this game off now Crosby for the point after and the lead is up to five so that winds up a seven playay drive all told and it's capped off by the late touchdown that puts him out in front here in the final minute of the contest [Applause] now after the touchdown here's Crosby to kick it [Applause] away and a decent return out to the 27 yd line the Rams offense now making their way out to take over we have seen a lot of points here in this quarter for us up here in the booth it's been fun to watch the defensive coordinators probably scr catching their heads yeah they're going a little bit crazy right now but let's face it all of our friends who play Fantasy they're enjoying the heck out of this show CU most of them are creating and getting a bunch of points yeah points certainly not at a premium here they'll come up first and 10 [Applause] here they'll look to [Applause] throw and he will find his man on the outside and he takes his beyond the 35 before going out of bounds that's what they need right now get the first down get out of bounds stop the clock just playing smart football understanding the situation making the plays necessary and making sure that clock stops at every [Applause] opportunity back to throw open man is hiby the tight end now the Rams will signal for a timeout their second as they'll stop it with just over 40 seconds to go in the game final minute one timeout remaining first and [Applause] 10 he's back to throw it's complete he finds faul here and able to break one tackle but then quickly brought down down but a nice little gain party got to like what they're doing right there little by little they're getting closer another good pick up now second down and a few inches he'll look to [Applause] throw that'll be caught by cup and a timeout coming in this will be their final one with 10 seconds remaining [Applause] here's first and [Applause] 10 back to [Applause] throw and this one is incomplete and a great game comes down to this time for one play and they've got to get it in the end zone and I want every cover guy I've got in the game on defense every extra defensive back who can make a play on the football so whether it's Nickel Dime quarter whatever you want to call it I want five six seven guys back there Warner nowhere to turn this time and he goes down sacked back at the 29 a little thrilling fourth quarter this one was well at least I guess if you're cheering for The Winning Side an out an outstanding comeback though that saw them completely take control and change the outcome of this game yeah I'm not sure how many of us saw that coming the way that they were playing and having the lead after three quarters a little bit of a stunning ending because it wasn't just a one touchdown swing it was a multiple touchdown swing for them Player stats to end up losing that ball game give credit where credit is due they came off the pace and got it done so so
