Ultimate 2024 Fantasy Football QB Rankings (Top 31)

FINAL QB Rankings for 2024 Fantasy Football we have quarterback rankings today a position that has gone under an evolution in terms of fantasy football over the last few years for so long it was Statue quarterbacks pocket quarterbacks then we got to the running game and rushing points Revolution and now Hayden even some of the best throwers in the game are also the ones that run the best as well that's true then also we have some like legitimate young Talent it's not just like the Tom Brady uh era of quarterbacks like we've already basically retired even Aaron Rogers but now we have like some new guys Anthony Richardson CJ stad that tier of quarterbacks very much back in our lives the big thing what we need this year these guys need to stay healthy like last year Kyler Murray goes down Joe burrow goes down Patrick Mahomes didn't have anybody so the position itself was relatively down I'm more optimistic this year uh that the the position is just going to score more points again yeah we can keep going on that list anony Richardson went down Kurt Cousins went down Aaron Rogers went down so and so forth so yes health is a big part of that including Justin Herbert going down all those names will be ranked here today and I totally agree with your point this show and the one that we will post on Friday are the onesie positions in fantasy football when we talk about quarterbacks we talk about tight ends both of those were let's say in their last wave of those talents like their last era and in these last two years there's been a major injection of Youth in the position and so happy about that okay before we get started housekeeping note if you want to take these physical rankings with you we already did a wide receiver show and running back show 50 plus names in each of those the easiest way to do that with our rankings is to deposit for the first time on Underdog fantasy using the link in the description down below or promo code the show and they will simply be emailed to you that is it in a PDF form and on top of that you also get a Bree Hall special for week one all he needs is a one yard rush a one yard carry to hit plus we're matching your first deposit 50% of it up to $1,000 a 341 special okay let's get into this we kick things off with the mainers is actually Tier 1 - Jalen Hurts being selected in all leagues all platforms out there as the quarterback two but he is our quarterback one that is Jaylen Herz why I think everything's changed from last season I mean that in a good way their RPO rate their play action rate their ability to handle Blitz coverages last year with the previous offensive coordinator completely completely tanked the entire season this preseason first in RPO rate six in play action rate Jaylen Herz himself is healthy I trust Kellen Moore way more than I did last year's offensive coordinator and even with all of those problems he was still the 38th overall player in fantasy points over replacement per game they this I think the skill group is better than it's ever been before devont in the prime of his career you get saquon Barkley Johan doson for his flaws is better than the traditional number three wide receiver yeah shots fired and I just think that every going to click for the the Eagles and even yes they lose Kelce but they're really replacing him with a really good uh Center that was a part of the Guard play even last season you know this team was a juggernaut in 2022 they were dictating to defenses what they were going to do it felt like last year they had no answers to when defenses dictated how they were going to get played uh so many pressure packages that Jaylen Herz had again zero answers to and to me it's because they tried to carry over what Shane styken did so well in 2022 and just you know recycle it last year you can't really do that again if defenses are throwing new things at you and maybe I'm a donkey but and I know he's on his third team in three years I just appreciate Kell Moore and how this team is going to go through a new Evolution of their offense like we might see their use of motion and shifts double this season up to about 55% it was so far down the list this past year and I I just think that's going to give us back those like three and a half points on average per week that we missed from 2022 to 2023 and even despite that he was the quarterback to overall last year this training camp with Kell Moore I mean jayen HZ went basically all of August not throwing an interception in practice all reports have been massively positive with Jaylen Herz but I think more importantly even if the offensive coordinator is just mediocre this year just him not having that knee injury is going to be huge his yards per game Dro massively down the stretch his broken tackle rate so even when he would get out that was basically out of career low as well he's healthy right now so basically everything's kind of falling in line uh with the Eagles both on offense and defense this team is definitely one of the best in the league well we've made it five minutes without mentioning the tush push okay and I think that this is still a very important Avenue for us to score fantasy points and a very big reason why we are ranking Jaylen Herz as the quarterback one overall just some stats for you Jaylen Herz had 13 carries at the one yard line last year he had 13 touchdowns inside the five yard line last year I do wonder if that number goes down not because they move away from that play but just because like DeAndre Swift still had 10 carries inside the five yard line last year and he only scored twice right the reason you bring in saquon Barkley is so he can be one two three yards better than DeAndre Swift on multiple occasions so yeah I think that that can take away from the production we got last year from Jaylen Herz but again that can either be supplemented by just better offense or just better passing points on top of it yep I I think it's just going to be a better offense in general and I don't think that the tush push is completely going away we have some pretty good Intel based off the training camp reports that that is not going completely away it's a skill I mean it's such a skill play that when other teams try it they repeatedly fail at it okay another Divergence from Patrick Mahomes consensus for us we have Patrick Mahomes as our quarterback too why are we ranking him that highly honestly I feel really good about this one too Everything's changed once again Patrick Mahomes last year they were 20th in big play passes those are like 20 plus yards they are on their deep targets 23rd in the league and their catch rate on them that's not a Patrick Mahomes stat that's a wide receiver stat income Xavier worthy who's going to be used everywhere I trust Andy Reid with getting the most out of Xavier Worthy profile rasid rice doesn't sound like he's going to get suspended this year Hollywood Brown is somebody that can win on the perimeter for this offense when Once he's healthy Travis Kelce they're not going to have to rely on him as much hopefully he stays healthy but really just the downfield passes that's going to be the big difference here they always play with Pace they always play uh with a high neutral pass rate the only difference from last year is their ability to throw the ball downfield and actually being able to catch them that's going to completely change this year this to me seems like it could be a legacy type of season from Patrick Mahomes he should be by far the MVP favorite he finishes the quarterback 12 last year in points per game uh we have a Sunday night show that we do after all the 1 and four o'clock games have completed I was irate at multiple points last year because this offense was stupid to watch for like long stretches of the season I think a major part of that is exactly what you talked about where it was suffocated by defenses over and over and over again I mean here's just an obnoxious stat okay 1.2% of Patrick mahomes's targets 10 plus yards last year ended in a touchdown that was at 11% 8 and a half% and 8% in his first three seasons in the NFL so obviously yes coverage shifts two high shells cover two play a big and major part in that but so does you know Elite vertical explosive Talent so we get Xavier worthy we get Hollywood Brown to be added into that equation this year and that is not only going to make it easier for these big explosive gains to come back it's also going to make the easy stuff easier over the middle of the field to Rashi rice and Travis Kelce just again space creators at multiple points of the field so yeah I mean I think this team realized that they had legit deficiencies despite winning the freaking Super Bowl and they did their best to fix it in the offseason the scariest part is Patrick Mahomes is still at the point of his his career where he can get better at football that's I mean that's ridiculous and then look at last year starting wide receivers mvs not going to crack the rotation for the bills cadarius Tony cut Sky Moore is not going to crack the rotation here Justin Watson he's not going to crack the rotation eight weeks for Rashi rice to play starting snaps B and what he was doing was just like running mesh routes and whip routes and stuff like now we actually have a foundation to throw the ball downfield so he has not the same amount of rushing production is Josh Allen Lamar Jackson but could Mahomes throw for 50 touchdowns this year yes and I do believe he fits in this Elite duel category now he didn't rush for any touchdowns last year but he actually did have a career high in 24.3 rushing yards per game so that's even an area that he's adding to his game okay our quarterback three which is Josh Allen tough because he's everyone's quarterback one out there and the comments are just going to tell us that we hate him we hate him we hate him we don't we really like Josh Allen let's combine though the positives and the negatives of this because again we wouldn't rank him this highly if we didn't believe in Josh Allen season it just hurts that he's going to be drafted as the quarterback one or ranked as the quarterback one by everyone else out there I think he's the second best quarterback in football so people come sideways at me for ranking him third in fantasy that's a little nuts to me just we're dealing with changes now going the other direction here he's coming off a season where he scored 15 rushing touchdowns that's the most of any quarterback ever in a single season so we have to regress that especially because a lot of his are based off of scrambles I also just don't think that bills are going to get down to the red zone as often because of the scheme uh change from week eight on once they fired their offensive coordinator they were 21st in neutral pass rate and to me what they really took out of the offense is the downfield weapons and Steph Diggs and Gabe Davis maybe khil Shakir turns into something maybe Curtis Samuel does same thing with dton concade but I think all those skill sets are underneath so the problems that we had with the Chiefs offense last year where it's just more Dink and dunk you're looking for the explosives I think it's what's going to happen with Josh Allen the Buffalo Bills this season I just don't think that the offense looks as good on paper and I think that he's gonna be able to manage it and the bills are going to win win a lot of game still but I don't see the total explosiveness that we saw with Josh Allen in the prime of Steph dicks I have two more things to his credit I think he shoulders the load of his team almost more than any other quarterback across the league that is evident last year when he had 18 rushing touchdowns uh 11 in the final nine games when Joe Brady took over uh we've talked about the stat and the great Rich rebar over at sharp football analysis who always puts into context quarterback rushing and the impact of that on fantasy football seasons that Josh Allen set a new record for fantasy points inside the Red Zone last year previous I was Marshall Faulk back in the year 2000 but just a segment of that he scored 30.5 fantasy points from the one yard line from some added context to that he combined in 2021 and 2022 had 24 fantasy points from the one yard line so if you watched our running back rankings video you know I have this tinfoil hat theory that Ray Davis might come to play here inside the five yard line and if that's the case yeah and we have more passing game questions than we did previously then you know the points start to get ripped from him week by week game by game series by series a little bit yeah he's still going to save the day because he's such moner out there so and I I I do have a few more passing stats because very rarely do we almost get a preview of like a new offensive coordinator with a team in their impact and again we got that in the final nine games of last year before Joe Brady was offense coordinate this team at the front of last season Josh Allen the bills were 5% over pass rate expectation on all downs and 11% on first down after Joe Brady took over they were 3% below pass rate expectation and 7% below expectation on first down y so they just threw less yeah and then I think when they do throw it this year they're not going to throw it as deep down the field so now you're going with longer drives and that's worse for Fantasy there's just some more systematic issues with Josh Allen this year that's all yeah over those nine games Buffalo was 31st in NFL drop back rate at 52.4% okay before we move on I do want to mention that in your home leagues out there these three quarterbacks are being drafted in the third round how do you feel about that price T I would draft Jaylen Herz in the third round I feel really comfortable being able to find wide receivers in particular in the later draft just based off of the default rankings so I'm more likely to go Jaylen Herz and then go hunting for wide receivers than like I was in baseball but Jaylen Herz was like going the fourth round in Underdog so I've drafted a ton of him a ton of uh Mahomes I would not draft Josh Allen the second Lamar Jackson round though going the fourth round is the last name of this tier and that is reigning MVP Lamar Jackson I have two things to say here okay one in the first year of Todd monins offense he wins the freaking most viable player award that's pretty cool that only though put him as the quarterback three last year in points per game because he didn't have a ton of rushing points he had 8221 yards and five rushing touchdowns and I don't know that with the addition of Derrick Henry if that's going to regress in the positive direction for us to launch him into a quarterback one or quarterback two or even maintain that quarterback three points per game floor that we got last year yeah his average designed quarterback runs per game was at 4.4 the previous five years according to sports info solutions that was at 6.5 so we're decreasing his uh designs by two and then on his yards per carry on them that Dro by a full yard so that kind of explains a big chunk of the Lamar production and then once you get down to the Red Zone unlike Herz and Allen and sometimes even Patrick Mahomes Lamar Jackson he sits in zone read and hands the ball off to the running back he's not doing tush push stuff he's rarely keeping the ball actually especially when you have Derk Henry so his touchdowns are typically five to seven per game on the ground compared to what we just said 15 a piece for Herz and Allen there so I think that's a pretty big difference there and then I know he won the MVP but among MVP Seasons that was not the most ridiculous MVP season don't say that the the week before I love Lamar Jackson but compare That season versus other Seasons there it's just unnecessary okay so so my my point is if we aren't going to get the 10,000 yards seven eight rushing touchdowns to get back into like this top Echelon where we going to get these points it's pretty obvious if you watched our wide receiver ranking show with a flowers I mean their connection on downfield shots was like non-existent they I mean just were told off on the same page and that can give us touchdowns that can give us explosive plays that can give us big gains the other part of this is that in the first half of games last year Baltimore outscored their opponents by a league High 142 points they trailed for just 85 total plays in second Hales of last year that was the fewest for any team in a season since the 2015 season now on top of that they just had a 48% dropback rate in the second half of last year's games the lowest rate in the league a major major part of that was yes they were good on offense they scored points but it was also tied to Mike McDonald being the best defensive play caller in the league and that defense being a juggernaut and just constricting their opponents I think that side is going to agress that's going to give us more neutral games and maybe some of that's from offensive line play and so on and so forth but I think we're going to get more third and fourth quarter action and dropbacks from Lamar Jackson this year completely agree the reason why Lamar won the MVP as the team was so dominant last year the defense was fantastic I still ranked them as a top two defense going into this year but they're not going to be as dominant as they were were the other thing Lamar Jackson he didn't have Mark Andrews for a big chunk of that season Zade flowers goes into year two we should expect a jump from him and then also just Todd monin just being out there for the second season in this offense as well so I'm expecting the rushing numbers to more or less stay the same as they were last season but do think that the passing numbers could get slightly better just maybe not on a like efficiency basis but just total volume like you're talking about so to me this is like a pretty strict tier and then like the next one now you start have to kind of like imagining how you can even get to this this tier I think that Lamar Jackson deserves to be in here okay before we go to the next tier I do want to shout out the 39% of you who over the last 28 days have watched our content and just scroll down just ever so slightly moved your mouse and hit that subscribe button that's so cool you guys are wonderful people who are taught the right way to live life and have tremendous banners the 61% that are lurkers and absolute jerks who just watch and go away with the rest of their lives I don't even know who you are I do not recognize you okay the 39% I would do anything for you next Tier 2 - Anthony Richardson quarterback five we actually have I think this entire group out of order between us yeah it's all different he's my quarterback five he's your quarterback six so that lands us as this quarterback five it is Anthony Richardson I mean simply put hey Hayden there's some factors at play but in his two full games played last year he was the quarterback four and quarterback two in weekly scoring uh I mean in week two last year he played only 18 snaps and still scored 17.7 fantasy points simply chase the ceiling here this is all about winning your freaking Championship it wouldn't shock me at all despite people's questions of him as a thrower and some inconsistent work in that department during preseason if we look back on this year Hayden and Anthony richardon is the quarterback one overall I think he legitimately has that ceiling and if he does get injured and if something does happen this is your redraft league this is your home League okay quarterback is one of the easiest positions to replace with streaming with some other names we're going to talk about later on based on matchups and so again I want to go for the top I want to win my league and I think AR might be one of the Avenues to do that I love Anthony Richardson ceilings I'm not going to argue against that I had Anthony richson above Bryce young in my uh pre-draft profiles as well I love Anthony richon I do think it's still fair to question that because he's so inexperienced that he's going to have some issues as a passer and I just really like CD strout who's my quarterback six will get to him but like you said the Colts offense in general is just ready to go for Fantasy they were third in plays per minute like you said Anthony richon he was the quarterback one in fantasy points per snap last year the problem was not very many snaps out there Jonathan Taylor does come back this year which hopefully should help the offense stay on script a little bit more but maybe down at the goal line he doesn't get quite as much action as we saw in brief instances last season so I think he's going to be a really good fantasy quarterback I'm not sure if I'm ready to say that this early into his career he's going to have the passing numbers to get into that top tier that we're talking about like for example the Colts they're 17th in implied points this year that is not that big of a deal I still think he's going to be a mid-range quarterback one happy to have him where he goes I just think that like when I was thinking an Anthony Rich would be like an MVP candidate that was like when he like 26 not when he's like 23 coming off the season where he played about 50 snaps it's a shame to see you just slowly pull away from this Anthony Richardson love that we both shared I'm still a full crazy he's so young he's played no football yeah guess what he's gonna get more experience this year than he has in the past two seasons combined he'll need it um I mean the Colts were freaking 11th in points scored last year with Gardner menu at quarterback I I trust Shane syin is going to figure this team out and make them a top 12 top 13 offense with anony Rich and keep it there and keep it there because his talent is so much better okay I almost want to like put all these quarterbacks CJ Stroud together because part of the reason why I have Anthony richon as quarterback five and then I have CJ strout as quarterback seven yes I moved him down today Hayden just a little spoiler alert for you I no is because again in just two games that he fully started last year we got two top four scoring in weeks from Anthony Richardson in CJ St last year he had three top nine scoring weeks all season long so I am in love with the pocket navigation the placement to all areas of field that CJ stra just brings the table the needle he has to thread is so narrow because he offers zero rushing ability that he almost has to be perfect for him to overtake like any of these quarterbacks that we've talked about who do have rushing upside I agree with that he's going to thread the needle though this guy's incredible I think that we're looking at like a early version of what pton Manning was and we just saw last year the the offense completely changed in weeks one through eight they were 31st in neutral pass rate from week nine on once they figured out oh we have one of the best quarterbacks in the league they were in 13th in neutral pass rate we saw them put up 45 points against the Browns in the in the playoffs then they add Steph Diggs by the way during that uh last part of the season they didn't have tank Dell who you love as a wide receiver so I think the whole thing is completely changed this offensive line was really beat up last year as well hopefully they get some of those pieces uh back in the uh offense year two for Bobby slowick year two for CJ strad I don't know I see a lot of positives uh with CJ strad I think that you can put him for projected yards and projected passing touchdowns number two just behind Patrick Mahomes so I know he doesn't run as much Anthony rich has a higher ceiling better odds being quarterback one but who has better odds to be the quarterback four this year to me it's not close it' be CJ Stout yeah both of Nico Collins and tankel were on the field together for just 34% of CJ Stroud's dropbacks last season and then like you said it's throwing an adding Stefon Diggs into that equation they already had the 12th most passing touchdowns in the League last year and the eighth fewest rushing touchdowns in the league I mean I would expect both of those numbers to climb this season that's for sure even if he finishes as quarterback six without rushing points that's a freaking awesome season that's and and doing that above Jordan love above Dak Prescot a Joe above Joe burrow that's fantastic but again I I just worry that we're going to get even massive Spike weeks out of this unless he throws for three touchdowns consistently on a weekly basis well he he's about to okay the last name that we have at the end of this tier who actually have ahead of CJ shroud but Hayden has at the Kyler Murray end is uh Kyler Murray again just to bring up those weekly scoring numbers in just eight starts last year Kyler also had three top nine scoring weeks and finished per game basis with a higher number than CJ stra did last year and that's even with like his lowest rushing output of his career coming off of an ACL injury I I just see also a player who had his worst downfield throwing numbers of his career last year in Kyler Murray and hopefully that gets fixed with the addition of Marvin Harrison Jr a second year in Michael Wilson who I think can be like a contested catch downfield type player and then Trey McBride who can be a fantastic fantastic player in the intermediate and create explosives at the tight end position unlike few others across the league so do you think just Anthony rich is gonna run so much more than Kyler Murray like this year yes yes okay I do yeah I really like Kyler Murray I I've been drafting a lot of tree McBride and Kyler Murray uh in in baseball right now the three seasons before Kyler got uh injured quarterback eight quarterback three quarterback 10 so we feel really good about his floor I personally like Drew petting a lot obviously everybody loves Marvin Harrison and Drew uh and Trey McBride the only reason why I have him slightly down is just because when he returned last uh year I believe it week eight from that point on the Cardinals were 27th in neutral pass rate obviously I'm expecting that to go up that's why you draft somebody like Marvin Harris but this is an offensive coordinator and head coach that come from the Browns and the Eagles more uh balanced offenses they are 21st and projected points this season according to the betting markets I'll take the higher on that by the way so I think that he's a really good pick if you do mix uh miss out uh on the the top tier and I do think there's a a a decent drop off in terms of like complete ceiling outcomes from Kyler to the next year so I don't want to say anything negative about them yeah all three of these quarterbacks are being drafted in round five they might do it in different ways but they can all finish as good picks in that area too even if some were more High variants than others it's just why fantasy scoring is so fascinating you know okay let's drop down to tier three which I've Tier 3 - Jordan Love named pocket and rookies and you'll see why Jordan love is number one on our list here he's actually your quarterback eight overall just one spot later for me as quarterback nine in your home leagues being drafted as quarterback 10 I mean he was quarterback six in points per game last year so we talk about like threading that needle of a pocket passer it's all the explosives and especially how they finished the year last year as AE Packers and hopefully Jordan love and this team just picks up where they left off I was super impressed with the Jordan love film by the end of the year I've always been really impressed with what laflor does as a play caller they are really deep at the skill positions and I think that's kind of me breaking the tie between him and like someone like Dak Prescott who's also a fantastic quarterback but week through 12 week 12 through the playoffs Jordan love was the number one quarterback in EPA per dropback that offense had so many unproven young players who should get better going into their second and third Seasons there's also a ton of continuity on the offensive line they also add a first round uh guard who I think's going to start as well so he's really insulated uh in terms of fantasy points and production the environment is awesome that division is going to put up a ton of points as well sometimes the floor will go pretty balanced and they sometimes will run the ball uh at the goal line a little bit too much and Jordan love is a decent athlete but he doesn't run quite as much I think that's the reason why he's in this tier not the tier above it but in terms of like who's a for sure top 10 uh NFL quarterback I think Jordan love has that I think that his environment is also top 10 so I feel pretty comfortable with him I believe they'll run it even more inside the Red Zone this year than they did last year I mean 76% of Green Bay's offensive touchdowns last season came through the air which was fourth in the NFL and that's actually a higher rate than any Aaron Rogers season Josh Jacobs hope you hope you guys have been drafted him I mean all 11 of Jordan Love's completions in a go too situation went for touchdowns yeah so five top nine finishes last year in final eight games in just the final eight games yeah for Jordan love so what a player so much fun it's been cool to see that evolution of his game too okay next for us is our quarterback nine is Dak Prescott I remember at the midpoint this summer we Dak Prescott had Nick urano for one of our videos on the five players I can't stop drafting hopefully you all have tuned into to all of those if not go binge them after this I know he finishes like the quarterback five or six in points per game scoring last year but if you take away the first four five weeks okay when he was anywhere from the quarterback 17 to the quarterback 29 after that dacks stats and per week finishes were just unreal quarterback one 3 2 1 17 3 three close was 7 three like wow that is insane stuff y uh I do have a slight fear though and you can say this for a bunch of teams but especially with how the Dallas Cowboys are constructed this year if something happens to like CD lamb for three four five weeks that team feels so thin at the moment yeah that's why I broke the tie with Jordan love slightly ahead because even if you take a with Christian Watson or Jaden Reed they have like a next man up and the Cowboys just don't but Dak Prescott I know that like we turned him into a meme we turned the Dallas Cowboys offense into a meme but this team's super aggressive they were second and fourth down aggressiveness last season they were third in neutral pass rate Dak Prescott was second in EPA per dropback there was a case for him as the MVP last year's defense for the Dallas was fourth in EPA there's a couple question marks in the secondary a lot of players dealing with some injuries the linebacker still not good the defensive tackles were really bad last year against the run I'm not expecting their defense to be as good which means that we could see Dak Prescott in some ridiculous shootout games so the only fear is there's just not a lot of wiggle room if there is an injury or two they have a new left tackle new center both rookies they both look really good so I'm not like super concerned about that but that's another added wrinkle to this but Dak Prescott is so damn good at football in this off offense wants to throw the ball so much I think he's going to be totally fine and it's pretty cool that the NFL somebody as good as Dak Prescott is the quarterback nine in fantasy circles that's like a good sign for the league Joe Burrow our quarterback 10 is Joe burrow uh I'm thankful that this is the healthiest training camp we've basically ever gotten from Joe burrow I mean at least he's practicing you know we we haven't we've had believe have off Seasons where he something happens and he doesn't practice Yeah I mean even the start of last year the first four games like in all these splits when you talk about C bingles you have to throw them away because he couldn't move it was terrible so we've seen again to use this word evolution in his stylings of deep shots then you know only facing the defense and none no understander play action we've actually seen some of that during preseason stuff so I do wonder if they are tweaking things heading into this year for bur yeah there's to me the the only reason why I was breaking ties against him is just the long list of injuries this wrist injury the wrist surgery he had is really rare for the quarterbacks he was missing some time at practice uh this this training camp because of it Jamar Chase is still not practicing it's it's August 28th he's looking for a new contract so I don't think any of that stuff truly going to matter but when you're breaking ties between three excellent pocket passers there's just a couple more wrinkles with with Joe burrow out there um I'm really looking forward to am Marius Mims their new right tackle an absolute specimen uh so hopefully this Bengals offensive line is a little bit better than what Joe burrow was dealing with you know when he was like tearing his ACL because the line come the block yeah and hopefully ms's injury that he dealt with this training camp doesn't sustain through the season too okay we continue on now with the Caleb Williams and Jayden Daniels rookies these are two of people's favorite picks uh you and I have gone out on a slight ledge because in redraft home leagues out there he's being selected as the quarterback 15 he's our quarterback 11 and that is Caleb Williams for for me Hayden I understand that Jaden Daniels has this like gamechanging Breakaway runs that he put out there at alisu I do wonder about just like the structure of the offense in terms of what we've seen so far and this can totally change once week one hits and it probably will but quick passes and then what is his reaction in terms of pressure situations I just trust in the ability of Caleb Williams to carry out a legit NFL offense more at this moment and and I will buy into that plus he has some athleticism elongating plays and some specialness in that department too looking back at his college stats 0.4 EPA per play on the classic timing routes those are Slants comebacks curls digs out routes he can play Within the pocket we saw it in the preseason as well and then on scrambles and broken plays 045 EPA per play those are ridiculous numbers inside and outside of structure Shane Waldron's offense would drive me nuts last year at times but like the Baseline of it fourth in plays per minute 10th in neutral pass rate sixth in play action rate those are all going to help Caleb Williams this year everybody knows how good the skill core is as well I just think that he's like on a trajectory call him smaller Patrick Mahomes bigger Kyler Murray those were my pre-draft comps for him it's going to equal fantasy points I think pretty much immediately and I do think it'll be a bit Rocky like we saw in that final preseason game you know there were a handful of plays that I'm sure that he would want back too I really think once we get to week four week five week six it's just going to keep going you know in a linear line over and over and over again every single week so you know we talked so much about rushing production how that can be the impact that you need at the quarterback position early on are we talking out of two sides of our mouth with Jaden Daniels being our quarterback 12 here I mean last year his 63 EPA per play on scrambles and broken plays was like basically the best of all time I just I mean you hit it when you were uh leading into this I just don't trust the o line the wide receivers and the coaching staff on this one you know and the betting markets don't either by the way the commanders they're 26th in implied points this year so that's pretty low for a fantasy quarterback one I'm expecting a lot of wide receiver screens a lot of just like Dink and dunk uh just to hide the offensive line and then some downfield one-on-one matchups which he's a great thrower at he's fantastic at but he is also throwing them to diami br olita zakus at times this year as well so we'll see I just don't have that like post Snap progression feel in the pocket answered yet I think that he can do that but that is a pretty big thing to not know when we're talking about the National Football League and I'm not sure if Cliff Kingsburg is the offensive coordinator that's necessarily been like dicing up those like playaction post routes that we see with like Tua and CJ shroud and those guys yeah I don't expect this to sustain once we get to the regular season but just this microcosm that we have in the preseason it was a 1.9 second time to throw it was uh the shortest a DOT if you extract it to last year in the NFL lower than Trevor Simeon the questions that we had heading into a legit NFL game for Jaden Daniels just have been impossible to be answered in the preseason it's just what is his reaction to pressure because he took off 50% of the time last year only 50% in did in a pass and then also the middle of the field work for me because everything was kind of outside the numbers and quick or vertical shots so I'm not saying that that's bad and he did bad on it it's just he did good with what he was asked that's just not a legit NFL passing game and we'll probably get more answers in week one than we did you know in two preseason games that go to watch okay that is the Statues - Brock Purdy end of this tier that brings us to tier four and this is your traditional pocket statues for the most part Hayden and while his is attempts per game is probably like 30th in the NFL this is back when just volume's not the king and efficiency can be that is Brock py well you asked uh are we accounting for Jaden Daniels rushing production enough well yeah the 49ers projected for the most points in the league and he goes after the quarterback that's 26 in points so yeah this is where Brock py belongs to me because last year first in yards per attempt first in touchdown rate second in total passing touchdowns and he was still the 9 an overall player in fantasy points over replacement per game they have to throw the ball more for him to move the needle and I just don't expect that to happen they might have to because the team might not be totally as good there but in the Red Zone they're going to get Christian mcaffry the ball he's not going to be rushing from many touchdowns as well so it's it's hard to see like the total ceiling unless there's like something about Brock py that we haven't seen But I think we kind of know what type of quarterback uh he is at this point tuatonga VOA is our Tua Tagovailoa quarterback 14 I think people view Tua incorrectly from a fantasy lens he's he's high variance you know because of the type of player he is on NFL field again I think the perception is that he's just the steady scorer who's not going to give you spiked weeks his the name of his game is spiked weeks I mean he had seven weeks inside the top 12 quarterbacks last year and then 10 outside of it he has to throw three plus touchdowns to be inside the top 10 on any given week yep because he has zero rushing upside and maybe skinny Tua and this makeover that he's had by the way uh leads him into some more Mobility because we did see a bit more of that during his time at Alabama and during his rookie year but think back to last year and how high powerered this offense was they led the NFL in passing yards at 4,600 he still finishes the quarterback 19 in PSB game so again last year we know they dominated dominated bad team and struggled with the good ones uh I think they're going to be closer to nine 10 wins this year that's what Vegas predicts as well and that's the case we're gonna get more passes which is pretty cool for again the player who led the NFL in passing yards last year yeah we basically had the same exact notes I will say that the Dolphins offense is a little bit fragile kind of like with Dak Prescott it's like a huge tier drop from Jaylen WD Tyreek Hill to like their next wide receivers um so that's like one little concern the offensive line is never good they get the ball out so quickly that they really do hide that but yeah when Brock pie Tua they're going to be projected top five in points every week they just have to convert all the touchdowns Trevor Lawrence has added Trevor Lawrence a number of weapons over the last few years we know last year it was Calvin Ridley we know this year it's bring in Gabe Davis bring in Brian Thomas what's your view of Trevor Lawrence as our quarterback 15 I think the environment's way better I think Brian Thomas is going to be better than Calvin Ridley I think Gabe Davis is better than uh Z Jones I think Christian Kirk is more likely to play games this year than he was last season the offensive line they think they've kind of figured this thing out last year was pretty bad it looks better this year than it was last year I'll say that he lost the most EPA per drops in the league he lost four touchdowns to defensive pass interference he lost 247 passing yards to defensive pass interference those were both at the very top of the NFL he just needs better luck and I hate making this excuse because everybody's like really trying to make Trevor Lawrence is like top eight guy and like to me he has not been that I do think eventually that's it's going to come through for him he really just needs the environment to step up around him and I think I like it this by the way Jacksonville's defense is also pretty dang good with the new offense or defense of coordinator their yeah so I just think that the Jaguars are gonna be a pretty decent team this year and this is like the most optimistic I felt about Matthew Stafford them we actually have him tied with the next name and that is Matthew Stafford who by the way in your homeless leag is being selected as quarterback 19 we have him here as uh either our quarterback 15 or 16 because you actually have him ranked Ahad of Trevor Lawrence yeah I mean with Shawn McVey Matthew Stafford's Pace 4,500 yards 31 touchdowns last year he got puka noua to go crazy um from week 12 on second in EPA the offensive line is dealing with a lot suspensions and injuries but when they are fully healthy this offensive line looks like a major positive and that has not been the case throughout Matthew Stafford's uh career the defense could look way worse without you know Aaron Donald and then uh Ernest Jones who Twitter pretends uh is is a Hall of Fame linebacker this team's gonna be in crazy amount of shootouts if Cooper cup and and puka are healthy they're going to be putting up massive massive points so if you're telling me like which offense do people think could be like top 12 that could end up finishing top three give me the Jared Goff Rams next is Jared G I need to bring it up and I'll actually lead with it we know his splits on road games versus Dome games he plays one game outside of a dome through week 16 pretty good or until week 16 I should say I mean that's nutso stuff for a guy who Ben Johnson if he wanted to be could have been head coach two times over at this point uh there are questions about the wide receiver 23 on this team but I just trust that this system is certainly bring the best out of Jared golf because of the offensive line that they have in front of him the Investments that they've made in that group and with that said despite him being in that system last year and putting up all these points and the lons scoring so many touchdowns obviously many went to rushing to Dave Montgomery and jir Gibbs he still was the quarterback 15 in points at 17.8 so again this speaks to like the pure of pure pocket passers in Jared G right now the Lions have to be as good as they were last year and then Jared gof has to run really pure with the touchdowns and then he would finish as the quarterback nine so that's where I'm just kind of breaking ties where maybe the other statues around him have just a little bit better odds of of kind of parlaying those things together we'll close this one out with Justin Herbert who I feel like has climbed in drafts Justin Herbert this summer I mean he was one of my sleeper quarterbacks earlier this year and part of that was because this is the guy who is the NFL record right now for most pass attempts per game on average that is certainly going to change even last year it did he was at 36.6 attempts per game that would have been the seventh most in the league with Greg Roman and the changes that we're expecting here I certainly don't Envision 20 pass attempts per game like some people are projecting on to this team maybe closer to the San Francisco 49ers who were 30th in the league at 30 passing attempts now we just talked about Brock p and the reason why he's ranked so highly is because the efficiency I think Justin Herbert can be that level of an efficient passer now it's not K Shanahan drawing the plays it's not D.A Samuel and BR auk and George KD and Chris mcaffrey it's a bit of a lesser Talent there plus this planer fascia injury that Justin Herbert is dealing with nonetheless I mean 15 touchdowns to one interception last year when kept clean inside the pocket that is where the investment has been pushed on this team three first round offensive lman some other guys on top of that and to me that is a foundation of success for Justin Herbert this year the pass attempts might be better than people think because the Chargers defense might be really bad again and I see the same thing when you have Justin Herbert when his ribs don't hurt and his tackles and centers aren't on injured reserve the dude could absolutely spin it now he's not thrown to pretty much anybody and that's why he belongs down in this tier so I think like the full Panic there's no for that he's he's way too good of a quarterback uh but there are some some systemic issues with the Chargers just in general so uh not like the craziest year for Justin Herbert I'm expecting yeah we've already seen it I mean his first two seasons of his career he was a quarterback eight and quarterback two in points per game all right next Gino Olds & Unknowns Smith starts the olds and the unknowns tier we're well ahead of the market on him he is our quarterback 19 he's being drafted as quarterback 23 on all platforms out there we say it every single week and every single show Hayden that we can't wait to see Ryan Gro in the NFL and what he's going to do with this team I mean it was quick quick shot play over and over and over again at Washington when you think of and package all the quarterbacks around the league that can do that pretty well Gino Smith is near the top of the list for me but when you go through it NFL projects this offense for like League average to below average points do they have to say to believe it or are we just maybe out of our minds here no they're wrong we're we're right uh that's what I'm going with with the Seahawks I I think that Gino Smith can completely spin the football actually number one in completion percentage overe expected since he uh burst onto the scene a couple years ago number one by the way number one and Ryan grub this preseason second in motion fifth in RPO rate fifth in play action rate this is what we saw we saw a bunch of bunch formations we saw players moving inside and outside nothing static about the Huskies offense nothing static about the Seahawks offense in the preseason goo Smith could really surprise people people still Overlook how good of a football player he is how good of a football player jsn could be this year as well so really just can he overcome the offensive line but Gino Smith can really navigate the pocket so we just need the tackles to stay upright the new interior offensive lineman to do better that could be asking for too much but if those guys overperform I do think that Juno Smith could really surprise people with what what his passing numbers can be this year yeah he averag a league low 6.4 air yards per throw in pressure last year he might be under some duress this year I don't think that Gino is bad Under Pressure I mean keeps his eyes up he navigates the pocket there just has to be more success yes from this year okay let's package some of these because these next two guys it's deshun Watson and it's with Aaron Rogers who are old and kind of unknowns at this point like DeShaun Watson it just has not gone well in Cleveland for multiple reasons and it's the health thing and even when he is healthy he is just never strung together good performances uh I always hear would bring this up to people in the know that like they are skeptical if a deshun Watson and Kevin stansky marriage and how they see NFL offenses will ever align because it's all about quick decisions and firing it in there and Deshawn doesn't always do that I believe that Kevin of fanasy as a play caller I believe in a lot of the pieces on this offense namely Amari Cooper and David and joku if it doesn't work out now it's never going to with desun Watson Cleveland it's officially a last call for him I don't trust his shoulder and I think that was a huge culprit from what last season was they did bring in uh Ken dorsy who has some experience with Josh Allen who's a little bit more out of structure player so we'll see uh if DeShaun Watson feels a little bit more comfortable if they kind of tweak the offense but what happened last year is makes me at least leave the Li on for a crazy season from the skill group just because they started off the season really balanced they had Nick chub then they went through that stretch where it was like DTR and PJ Walker throw those games out the window DeShaun Watson comes back and they throw the ball like crazy he gets hurt and then Joe flaca comes in they throw the ball like crazy they were number one in neutral pass rate to close out the season uh last season I think that's the direction that they want to go will Deshawn Watson's shoulder be okay I can't tell you that but if things do click he is the guy from this tier that can jump a couple of them the funniest part is deshun Watson just needs to beat Joe Flaco I mean yeah Flaco finished the season as the quarterback three in points per game it's because you know he let it rip into single coverage even in double coverage at times and then had some ridiculous elongated play so show one of those show one of those tohaa Watson in my notes I wrote the bar is so low to be fantasy relevant with those pass attempts Kevin stefansky Amari njoku like him being rank this low is it admission of how bad at football he's been uh since he left the Texans if this hits he is at least the quarterback 12 on the season yeah I agree at least like to me he's the one that can disrupt these last eight or so names that we've discussed y okay Aaron Rogers I mean there's there's really nothing to be said the guy throws a lot of touchdowns he doesn't move hopefully in week one we actually see him on the field he can move around take pass from under Center his connection with Garrett Wilson in The Red Zone we talked about in the wide receiver ranking show could be truly special and as we discussed with Patrick Mahomes and finding an area of weakness and adding to it that was certainly the offensive line they even have layers to their offensive line so hopefully that keeps them upright okay these next two and you're screwing this up for all of us but I'm a partner of yours so I have to sit here and take it because of your ranking we have freaking Sam darnold ahead of Kurt Cousins yeah I mean you have him one spot apart don't throw me under the bus here uh you know what notes I'm going to bring to the table was Sam darnold top 12 finishes last year Kirk Cousins six of eight now Sam darnold's not Kirk Cousins I'll give you guys that but dos two of five on top 12 quarterback finishes Nick Mullin three of four as a team they had 11 top 12 quarterback finishes Justin Jefferson the best wide receiver in the NFL played nine of those games this is year two of Jordan Addison they'll eventually get TJ Hawkinson back as well we'll see this a lot of faith in Kevin oconnell and Justin Jefferson I feel pretty comfortable about that and I think there's a reason why the NFL has been chasing the Sam darnold nonsense from stop to stop to stop he just has too much arm Talent now he's going to throw some interceptions are the Vikings going to be good this year I I can't sell you on that but I can sell you on pass attempts in a good skill group and that's exactly what I'm G ride with Kurt Cousins last year went healthy quarterback seven and points per game uh we love Kevin okono as a play caller he obviously coached under Shawn McVey Zack Robinson also coached under Shawn mcy so maybe we can get some mirroring of those offenses uh didn't have a lot of throws to Justin Jefferson either I mean there there were some Miss contest and Miss games in there as well so it's um it's it's an interesting one I I I'm firmly in the camp of cousins over Sam darnold but uh I one spot firmly by one spot honest honest question who is more likely to get benched in week 15 16 17 between and cousins Who you gonna bench Who's Who you gonna bench Sam darnold for name him no I mean that's obviously Fair now that's what I'm saying we're that's an impossible that's a ridiculous question that's the reason why you have Sam darnold four spots ahead of Kurt Cousins no because Kurt Cousins doesn't have Justin Jefferson and Kevin mconnell that is my point okay but you finished with the he also has not a torn at 37 years old're bringing some things up we went on heed the call and you said Sam D Fringe top 15 quarterback and now you have him here as ranked as quarterback 20 yeah he's going to have some weeks where he's going to be in the top 15 and the and the rankings will be right okay Tier let's group some of these last quarterbacks together since we're running long uh it's Daniel Jones Drake May Baker Mayfield and will Levis I'll lead us off with Will Levis because I believe speaking of pass rate that the Tennessee Titans might be top 10 top eight in pass attempts this year um Brian Callahan knows that you have to throw to lead and then run to win at the end of games uh will Lis was 39th in completion percentage Under Pressure last year we all know that he is the new trichet tried to help his offensive line with a new center a new left tackle and if we get that what we've seen in pre-season is more and more short concise passes some of them sign screens and swings and those types of things but then when asked they do just lets it rip I mean 22.4% of his passes were 20 plus yards last year that's a whopping eight% more than any other quarterback in the league yeah I just don't know if he knows where he's throwing the ball to and that's that's my reservation I I do have like this theory that oh the will Lev Le team's not going to be that high in neutral pass rate this year like I I do wonder if we're going to look back and that's going to be the change but he's gonna have some weeks where he throws for 350 yards the way that he plays I think recently our ranking of Drake May has moved up too because of I'm not going to say this indecision that the New England Patriots have because it certainly sounds like as we sit here at the start of this like dead practice period that jacobe brette is still uh taking the starting reps the the reps with the ones but even from D Mayo's admission Drake May has outperformed jaob brassette and then the combination that he brings with his rushing production on top of it I just never understood the massive skepticism that people had of Drake may as a prospect you and I loved him coming out the NFL draft Yeah I think that his long-term upside is fantastic in for Fantasy purposes he was first and fourth in first downs on scrambles in all of college football last year and then when he did uh scramble he got a first down of 52% of them which was second best so he's really athletic when he needs to run now he's gonna need to run he also got sacked a bunch and that was an offensive line issue at North Carolina but guess what he has here so I'm expecting the Patriots to be really bad on offense this year I just think that Drake May G be able to throw the ball down field and scramble enough it's not going to look pretty though like even as a long-term blll there's going to be a lot of bad takes uh with with Drake May so give him some time do you want to say anything about Daniel Jones uh did you know that Daniel Jones had a quarterback one overall finish last year quarterback one overall finish last year he had seven top 12 quarterback finishes in 2022 uh his leading Target earner on that team was a running back we know Brian deall is a good coach you've talked about that on the show before we know Malik neighbors is good at football and Daniel Jones can run so I do think that he's going to like it's not going to look pretty he's going to have some d dumb interceptions but the dude has scored fantasy points over his career and he's never had anybody like M neighbors okay we'll close up these rankings with B Nick who looks like three of Hayes groomsmen then Bryce young then Russell Wilson Justin Fields Derek Carr and Gardner mchu you also look like your groomsman not just my groomsman get out of here with B Knicks like Drake may he runs around more than you freaking probably expect and we saw in zone Reed uh in the preseason he can scram around a little bit is he going to wow you I don't think so but I think he's ready to go uh immediately this is super flexible me though let's be honest oh no no no I mean the question we can end with this is if you're going into a super Flex draft what's the cutoff point that you're like I have to have two of these guys for me I think it's like Daniel Jones Sam Darnell I don't want to get into this bone Knicks Russell Wilson stuff unless I absolutely have to but typically my superflex strategy is I want one of the elite guys and then I want two guys I can play matchups and by weeks with in this kind of like pry to Daniel Jones tier um but then I just had a super Flex We where I went Mahomes and Jordan love because he fell and I'll do that so yeah I don't see like a crazy amount of upside with like the last couple names here um I guess Drake May because he goes so much later than where we have him ranked could be an option but I don't know the Russell Wilson Justin Fields Dynamic is going to be fascinating to watch and as we know today Russell Wilson was named starter of that team but uh I think the leash is shorter now than it was with training camp opening just because of his misprescribing take that what you will I will say the the like long-term beat reporters for the Steelers both keep saying that they want Russell Wilson to be like the long-term answer for Pittsburgh don't don't shoot the messenger that it's not my take here that's what they're saying there I think the leash is a little bit longer than people will give him credit for it's not going to matter last call Bryce young any chance we can get him up all the way up any optimism from you but what do you mean all the way up could you could he get into the next tier or above where he's like a quarter Le thiser I think you could lead this tier okay I think I think did did you get to watch his pre-season action uh not on the all 22 yet I'm not going to lie uh it was quite good and it was like a legit NFL offense with actual motion and Concepts and you saw some Bama Bryce stuff in there at the same time you saw elongated plays to Deontay Johnson it's just like he actually has a chance this year you know he doesn't have the seventh string left guard the eighth string Right Guard all this type of Stu a 32y old who can't run the second half of the Season all that so uh even one little element of it their first and second string centers missed the game okay and so they had their third string Center and so they did everything out of pistol and shotgun but still ran the same Concepts so that's like these little smart wrinkles that I think Canalis and Company are able to do where Frank Reich and whoever else they had last year Thomas Brown just like we unable to Pivot off of anything they've ever been able to put on the NFL field you know what I mean I just need him to throw the ball to Deontay Johnson this year and happy happen quite a bit okay I think it's gonna happen quite a bit all right that does it
