[Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] four decades if things get a little tough around Tucson only two words are necessary bear down and that's what the Arizona Wildcats hope to do in front of their homestanding fans today what a showdown we have in store a couple of Big 12 teams squaring off and what could prove to be a huge game as we'll see the boisey State Broncos taking on a squad hoping to prevent another L this week the Arizona Wildcat for EA Sports college football ree Davis with you alongside David poan Jesse Palmer time to get this game started and the Broncos will put total Lea to crank us up and it'll come out to the 25 no attempt at a return the Wildcats offense will get the first possession of the game here he comes and obviously defense is always going to be aware of a quarterback but boy he finds a way to put defenses on their heels all the time David I mean what can't he do he's got the weapons he's got the confidence he's got the experience Jesse these kind of guys are so hard hard to defend you're right they better be able to find a way to get pressure on him cuz if they don't this is going to be a long day solid pick up of four on first down it's second and six wide receiver shows motion from the gun they'll try to impose their will and he'll move his way forward to the first down they'll mark it at the 35 here's this offense with a fresh set of [Applause] downs they'll leave it with him he's brought down but there's a flag on the plan let's see if it stands hold holding penalties the ultimate Drive killer we'll see if it cost this offense here line gets set first down they give it to the back still running at the 40 they'll get the first down it's spotted on the 49 Arizona right back to the line I think it's really important for this offense they get this guy going early in the game and they're doing a nice job of that right now remember he's the kind of running back who gets better as the game goes on that's a really good omen for this offense considering his success now early got stuffed on first down it's second and 10 from the gun give on the inside and he was able to run through one tackle but still only a modest gain a third and long coming up here wants to throw it's faf pressure coming and this sophomore able to wreak some havoc and get the sck the wild cats will have to send out the punt team getting our first look of the afternoon at the punter he gets the first one off and he was busier than he hoped in that loss last week being called on five times so the boisey state Cronos offense will go to work for the first time today as we take a look at our impact players for this game David what do you look for to make an impact from your leaders your leaders not only have to lead the football team they got to step up and make plays on the field keep everybody calm these guys typically do a really good job yeah David and they also generally set the tone for their respective football teams regardless of which side of the ball they play on and he's got it at the 25 and he'll run it into the end zone touchdown boyy State tou really nice job working the route getting himself open he was able to locate the football snag it out of the air and this guy now has five receiving touchdowns on the year that makes score and they thought about a return Then thought better of it they'll bring it out to the 25 the drive starts from their own 25 ydd [Music] [Applause] line the offense showing motion from the tight end trying to get a read on the Deep looking for space it's Conway crosses the 30 to the 31 and a 6yd pickup it's been a rough start for these guys and you look down the schedule in the Big 12 there aren't many soft Landing spots well no doubt about it this team has had some bad breaks early this year in Big 12 play but they've got got to make good things happen David they've got to do a better job of executing offensively defensively on special teams and it's got to start today yeah fining a way to make those critical plays cuz you know what do you know in the Big 12 there's always going to be a lot of scoring right and and they've come up short but I think as you find yourself throughout the season you got to realize I got to build those confidence I got to make those plays and once you do it what can anyone catch it and chunk plays are the name of the game and they get one here before the defense finally makes to stop Arizona comes out with another first [Applause] down he's going to pass got it set up on the outside they finally get him stopped but what a good job by that front wall to set up the screen and create some lanes for their running back just outside the Red Zone first and 10 from the 21 he leaves it with his back pull down after a pick up of six but he gets it inside the Red Zone it's down at the 15 got six on first down now a lot of options on second and [Applause] four pulls and throws off the RP touchdown wild cats lead the grab and finish the deal in the end zone and what did I start for this offense the throw game getting working getting the touchdown pass this quarterback getting a little bit of confidence this passing game getting in a rhythm nice start for this offense he'll start the return inside his SP and he's able to pick his way through the traffic nicely for a good return on that one before he's brought down boy he State ready to send out that offense they torched this defense with an explosive passing play for a score last time out let's see if they go right back at him these little gains can start to add up as he gets it up to the 34 nice job there by the keep in zone because he's watching the D line and he knows he has to keep the football and he right away takes it up field to get some positive looking to throw it's Nelson finds a soft spot in the middle they get him down at the 49 but not before he picks up 15 Zone coverage means everybody's looking at the quarterback so now when I'm a wide receiver I got to make sure I know I fit in the hole between these zones I know where they're dropping to and I know where I need to get to great job by the hit the gas can wide open thee and they are pushing the ball down the field a big pick up on that one and the tackle is finally made they keep counting their number of explosive plays and that last one has him set up first and 10 at the 19 using his legs keeping his eyes down down field and you'll Race it to the house touchdown Broncos well that didn't necessarily go as planned but it was most effective in the end I love it reys down in the Red Zone this quarterback didn't have anybody open didn't Panic he just decided man I'm going to go do this myself I'm going to use my wheels and put up six on the board he did just that Arizona sending the offense onto the field man what a drive last time for the touchdown that passing attack was Lethal David yeah and you know you hear all these stupid commentators like me and Jesse talking about create balance you know run and pass no when you throw that good spin the ball around so the defense has to find a way to affect the quarterback on this drive because last drive he had way too much time to throw on the ground it's Conley tackle is made at the 28 after a pick up of three you know runs like this on times are like a boxer in a boxing match obviously it's not a knockout punch but these are body blows and as the game goes on these small gains are going to turn into longer runs a quick tackle made but he's got plenty for the first down and now a fresh set of downs for this [Applause] offense they go to the ground they bring him down and he's going to lose a yard on that one most offensive schemes are predicated on first down productivity that will not go down as a productive first down Play No it will not re give this defensive line credit cuz they were able to get penetration right off the snap and force a negative play a third down try for the offense linebackers moving trying to confuse the quarterback both teams made no secret they wanted to Target their big play receivers and they've done just that in the first if they can convert here that type of play can really give you a shot of momentum third and long and he'll try to throw for it got his man downfield and he's brought down after a huge completion Arizona in a hurry and that's an [Applause] Arizona trying to cap this drive with the pass and the defense save got him at the 27 and what an awesome response from the defense you give up a huge play the play before and what do you come back you come back and you get pressure on the quarterback and you get him on the ground before he can make another big play Power football with the run and he's wrestled to the ground really nice play call there on second and long by the offensive coordinator he was able to get a lot of that yardage back by running the football and now of course it sets up a third and man manageable situation the throw to the outside is complete he is right out of bounds after the big game and they are in business first and goal and I like it third down and short and this offense stays aggressive and now they're set up forget the field goal we're not looking for three now now set up in a first and goal trying to get a touchdown he worked his way ever closer all the way down to the one yd line we'll see if the offense can punch it in on second and goal they move the tight end all [Applause] over on second and goal they believe he's got a nose for the goal line just hammer it with this running back again and he noses his way into the end zone they'll try to attack one more on their score Precision blocking up front created the open Lane in the running back followed it beautifully yeah and it's pretty easy to follow an offensive line that makes those holes just gives you a caravan all the way to the end zone what an unbelievable job blocking up front and he'll just take a knee and this drive will start at the 25 boyy state has it back ready to go to work on offense now they need to put something together to answer that last score there's a lot of pressure too on this offense to have to execute at a high level they've got to score points David but they can't go too fast cuz their defense right now is tied and I think that's the difficulty being a play call like I have to balance all of those things my defense is a little bit tired I can't get on the field but I got to be aggressive because this is a back and for typ game so a lot to process and think about On The Run it's Genty at the 35 he's loose they've got him down at the 40 after he ripped off 15 yds all right well look I know the defense was feeling real good about their rund de coming into this one how they've been playing up to this point but finally David the offense breaks through and they finally generate something positive on the plan and I can't tell you how easy it is when you're going to throw the ball consistently and I know it I'm going to pin my ears back and I'm going to get to the quarterback it makes life really easy on a defensive line but when you can have balance now the defense doesn't know what's coming they need more of this if they're going to be successful on offense that me field he's got room they finally make the Stop and he shows why he is dangerous is on the run twoo and he's got a first down the Broncos are rolling down the field running it to the right just making a play getting it to the 23 yd line it'll be first down first down physicality wins football games being able to run the football and create balance and and right here just chews up another first down gives you another chance to maybe continue to run the football and I feel like this guy too is just an explosive play waiting to happen got some room headed to the goal line gets out of bounds after the big play and they'll be set up in business with a first and goal new center Downs right on the doorstep for this offense he's got it down to the one yd line right on the doorstep of per well with this situation on the field this defense has their handsful because this running back just seems to have the nose for the end zone of course he scored his last time out he's really good down here close to the goal line finding Crees they bring him down and he's going to lose a yard on that one the whole point of running the quarterback on these designed runs is to get an extra blocker you should be getting more movement up front but that time guys were getting knocked backwards and he'll step into the end zone touchdown BSU well they go back to the option play now this is the second time pul this QB is scored running this scheme offensively yeah and as a defense you got to understand when you're playing the option it's responsibility football I got to stop my assignment I can't get caught in somebody else's business you could tell this defense not really ready for this quarterback run game they better figure it out it's going to be a long game Arizona has it back the offense coming out to Bear down after standing on the sideline and watching that long touchdown Drive they really need to put something together to give their defense a rest and that's a real thing man like you played a lot of plays you get worn out you need a chance to go decompress on the sideline get some oxygen Palmer now it's on this offense yeah this is the definition of complimentary football cuz it's a two-prong problem you've got to score points and answer but you've also got to take your time and give your defense an opportunity to get their win they'll wrestleing down just short of the first down I don't even think they're going to bring out the change to measure this one we've reached the two-minute warning and we have ourselves a ball game and they have a chance to take the lead here before the half now on second down looking for a man it's faf makes his connection good job running that route to get past the sticks because he got nothing after the catch and that's in [Applause] Arizon looking to move it through the air fires to the big fella you'll take four yards on first down every time second and six Arizona right back to the line he's back to throw on second down pulls it in it's McMillan and he was on his way and they get him down at the 30 well he was licking his chops as soon as he saw Blitz he knew some guy was trying to cover him manto man ain't going to happen with his skill set he's one of the best in the country and that is is just way too [Applause] easy makes the catch it's Conley and good coverage by the defense just a short game well he comes up with the reception but not a lot of room to run after that yeah and I like the QB doing this I mean I'm going to find ways to give him the football and see if he can make him Miss and I'm going to bet most of the time that my guy is a little bit more athletic than that defensive guy defense won this battle but I like trying to get this guy the ball in space Oh already in Chip Shot field goal range at the 21 but this third and short they're still thinking touchdown got his man there's a timeout called as this offense tries to find a way to draw a little closer man he had to get rid of that thing I don't even think he had time to find the laces but he picks up the first down yeah and that's a great job you know third and short the defense is bringing pressure he sees the pressure gets the football out and gets just enough for the first down we got a timeout here late in the first half and they'll try to get more points on the board before the break going to work in the Red Zone they can pick up the first down without getting it into the end zone looking for a man it's favid and he's got it touchdown Arizona yeah and the passing game comes through man and we need more of that in the second half an extra point away from time this football game you Trail a little bit in the first half stayed calm if this passing game can continue to heat up look out the second half so they got the touchdown now going to put it in the hands of their defense to finish off this half on the run from inside his own [Applause] five the Bronco offense back out there ready to give it another spin the way this game started you feel as if you have to score a touchdown every time you have it and now we'll see if they can respond yeah and I wonder how much pressure that puts on the offense Jesse like you know this is back and forth I got to score and every possession matters so much what does that do to you as a quarterback well it put Lofts one high indeed and that'll be incomplete they tried to hit him with a big one on first down nice job by the defense there taking all throws away from the quarterback he had nowhere to put that football in the field to play so that ball obviously had to go out of bounds the give out of the gun never underestimate the power of moving forward in creating breathing room as they mark it at the 17 they'll immediately call timeout third and short they got them back up inside the 20 and the D can get the ball back here on the option and the ball is free on the pitch now the defense has got it going the other way touchdown Arizona don't just get the ball score with the ball and the defense did what a play by the defense there loose football country fumble pick it up with room scoop and score no doubt country versus city with a country fumble nobody around I got to pick that puppy up and do some damage with it nice job seeing the situation scooping it up making a play boyy State ready to send out that offense this has been a crack me running up and down the field so far Jesse it's amazing for this offense right score a touchdown go try to get a rest on the sideline it feels like you blink and you're right back on the field having to go score another one David it just feels like it's going to be that kind of game well so which defense can kind of change their identity a little bit get more aggressive you're giving up yards and touchdowns anyways who can get aggressive and maybe create a turnup that completion leaves us with second and medium back to pass it's Nelson quarterback moving out of the pocket at the 45 on it way oh and the defense in Chase mode and they finally get him down at the 35 running out of time here in the first half they're going to have to be efficient to put some points on the board before the break he wants to throw it is incomplete and now there are 4 seconds remaining good job on defense getting a hand on it tipping it up in the air they weren't able to pick it off but they do Force the in waning seconds of the first half and they'll try to tack on a three before they head to the locker per room and the kicker delivers the three to salvage that drive Arizona will kick off to get the second half underway here he comes from inside his own five not a lot of space to be found good Hustle by the coverage team and they stop him at the 21 boyy state has it back ready to go to work on offense tight game as we start the third quarter and we'll see what type of adjust they made at halftime and getting the ball first here I think is such a big deal like I get the first chance to make a statement to make the adjustments to create some momentum for my squad right here in the third quarter yeah I think it's so important for this offense to set the tone here early in the second half to get a nice drive going build that confidence and and get your defense ready to come on out get a stop and change the complexity of this game they're going to ride this running back they'll rip off eight on that play it's second and two I know it's sexy to throw the football but if you can pound it away and get these kind of gains they will just add up wear the defense down get first downs and ultimately get some points and the Broncos have a first down and I know it's not sexy but those little runs just keep you on your heels keep the sticks moving making you understand like I'm going to do this I'm going to be patient a lot of offenses aren't patient they get to play Big play Happy wanting to force the ball down the field this offense is staying nice and patient right now amazing how many times an offensive holding penalty will stall a drive we'll see if the offense can overcome looking for a productive play on first down using his legs it's Genty they bring him down with a solid pick up to put them in position to pick up a first down yeah this coaching St after getting this offensive line lathered up and into a rhythm now they're letting him drive off the ball on first down on these running plays and they're getting chunks of yardage the give to the back and he'll be smacked to the ground yeah I wasn't sure if the offense was going to be able to dig themselves out of this hole but on second in California they dial up the running Play Now setting up third and short they'll run playaction it's complete on the right side he steps out of bounds but he's got a first down on the play It's hard right now on defense you got the lead and you're not expecting the opponent to run it as much as they've been doing on this drive so run run run and now you're wanting to be aggressive you're wanting to play downhill and on that third down you see the play fake you're expecting it again and they throw it over your head right now this defense they're on their heels a little yeah and sometimes the coverage is just great and as a quarterback you throw the football all away or don't try to force it too tight into a window and you just say hey defense won that we good coverage time running out and he goes down at the 34 just about the time the quarterback got the snap that dude was in his mustach quick fast and in a hurry in the back field got him to the ground before he can even think about getting the laces and trying to get the ball out of his hands this will be the eighth play of the drive but a great opportunity for the defense to get off the field he's going to run it he's run out of bounds but a big play on that one and it'll be a first down a lot of times we call these quarterbacks Ballers and Game Changers and but you don't call them smart enough like knowing the situation knowing I can scramble around buy some time and then knowing exactly what I need to do to get that first down you can call him whatever you want but that was really smallart and that's why if you're the offensive coordinator you've got to find as many ways as possible to get this guy going just get him the ball close to the line of scrimmage doesn't need to be a throw deep down the field he's so Dynamic when he has the ball in his hands you saw it right [Applause] there got it touchdown Broncos and with that they've got the lead here in the second half you know what methusa lived 969 years he was born and died in the amount of time it took them to walk it down the field and score that touchdown and that's just so frustrating play after play after play you line up you try to do your assignment and you fail and they Capa it off with a touchdown oh methusa Arizona sending the offense onto the field they Unleashed an aerial assault last time that took him right to the end zone David So Reese with that drive I think you've accomplished something you wanted to accomplish make this defense think you put them back on their heels now shoot P you might be able to slip a few runs in on this drive to really Jack him up yeah I like that idea but I also like the fact that speed kills and they've got it at the receiver position so if you've got one-on-one matchups man take advantage from the gun they'll try the middle and he found plenty of Running Room on that one before the defense was finally able to get him down you ain't getting by all these guys right up the middle unless your offensive line and your tight ends and everybody is putting in the work up committing to block him the running back does a great job finding the hole explode through how about that nice big huge game if on the OC let's call that one again after the three- yd pickup they come to the line Second and seven Red Pass it's complete still on his feet at the 45 and the tackle was made but not before that completion gets him 30 plus how nice is it as a quarterback when you don't have to throw post routes to get great stats no I can just throw it quickly to one of the fastest players in the entire nation and let him burn this defense quarterback Quick Pass to the receiver able to scr three yards out of that one somehow it's second and seven tried to pound it on first down now back to the line scanning the field it's faf unleashes to the end zone and that ball was In Harm's Way and he is lucky to get that one back man that's great defense break on the football make sure they don't get the touchdown but those are the opportunities you have to just pull that in make the big play stop the bleeding theyve had a long drive and really shift that momentum back to your offense gets it inside the five down to the four and it'll be first and goal really nice job there of the quarterback reading coverage he knew exactly where to go with the football and at what exact time the timing could not have been better they get the completion on third down setting up first and goal they get him on the ground at the three yd line but this defense is taking some punches well you obviously want to get your receivers the football down here in the Red Zone but it's tough to throw it to them because the windows are so small so I like the idea handing it off to that guy and seeing if he can do something with his speed he worked his way ever closer all the way down to the one ydd line well he gets tackled down at the one yd line so offensively do you feel confident enough on third here trying to hand it off again yeah and I'm taking both these downs and I'm coming downhill I'm running the football trying to get this in the end zone I only got a yard to go I got to be physical when you're dealing with a deficit like this it's all about somebody stepping up to make a play and you might as well start here in the fourth quarter here we go here we go [Applause] the G touchdown Arizona and they grab the advantage taking the lead here in the fourth and this offense really showing their physicality running the football when it matters in the fourth quarter in crunch time to take the lead in this football game almost ready to kick it away after scoring the touchdown what kind of field position can he help him with on the return and the returner goes first down the Bronco offense back out there ready to give it another spin if you like oldfashioned grind it up run over a football that last touchdown Drive was for you Jesse that was impressive man great blocking up front and tough physical running by these ball carriers lately and now you wonder how the defense responds like are they going to get way more aggressive just try to stop the run I got to do something to break the rhythm of that running game again this is a running back that can hurt you running it between the tackles he dangerous out in space they like to throw to him out on the perimeter as he picks up a couple of yards there short completion last play Let's see if they throw it again from the gun they'll give it on the inside he believe in that running game got six before he stopped at the 23 and a nice job by the running back finding space getting downhill making a good run great job finishing with his PS he'll do it himself he will step out of bounds but not before the big pick up and a first down for this offense there's an example of the offense taking advantage of all the attention the defense is giving this outstanding running back remember he's one of the best in the game they're expecting him to get the football so the quarterback says you know what I'll just keep it no one's keying off he goes big big gain on that one as he steps out of bounds with a first down and you see so many of these plays now in today's football wide receiver coming in motion and the quarterback catches it just flips it forward that's a completed pass uh you see the big plays where it just lets him get on the edge really really quickly and if he drops the football come into motion it's just an incomplete pass these plays are getting big plays with really no risk well for this defense now being good against the pass is not just going to be in the back end covering people it's going to be trying to contain this guy at the quarterback position he is lethal especially ese when things go off script and you saw it on that one first down they dial up the pass play you're not able to get them on the ground and now they've gotten another first down and just a great job by the defense being Stout right that's your job be Stout up front stuff in the Run play make them get more passing situations but do not let them run the football that's 101 stop the run first they make the stop but you can't give up four yds a chunk on the ground down in this area of the field it's at the 18 they line up with some serious work to do if they want to convert this one trying to move the sticks on third down through the air oh they really could have used that catch their physical pass defense it brings up a fourth down no signs of any kind of kicker as they'll leave the offense out there to try to move those chains on fourth down they'll try to throw it touchdown boyy State they've got the lead here in the fourth and some of these guys make it look so easy but these are tight windows down here man there's not a lot of space on the field and he drops back knows exactly where he's going with the football throws it in there makes the play and more importantly now his team is in the lead in the fourth quarter he'll bring it [Applause] out didn't find any crease in that kickoff coverage and he'll be stopped at the 17 Arizona has it back the the offense coming out to Bear down that last drive an absolute aerial assault for the touchdown Jesse it was a nice job in play calling too David just giving the quarterback some easy looks and reads so he could go out and execute and he knew exactly where to go with the football everything looked really really easy he was hot the ball was coming out of his hands the defense better do something different that Defender is lucky on that play cuz he was beat on that deep route he's lucky that QB overthrew that play not exactly the ideal situation for this offense third and long backed up inside their 20 trying to make magic on the scramble and he gets it just beyond the line of scrimmage before he gets down Arizona runs out the punt team this will be the second time they've had to kick it away and the return man has no place to run no place to hide and a place to beat tackle boyy State ready to send out that offense so first play of the drive coming here from their own 49 off the play fake on first down to throw takes a hit as he fires can't find his man as he took a shot trying to deliver that football and it'll be second down quarterbacks need time when they're in the pocket to complete throws that QB had no shot after taking that and the incompletion brings up a second down for this offense they'll go to the ground and he won't quite get there but boy after that pick up just a few inches to go for the first an array of possibilities here really nice awareness by that guy too because it looked as though his momentum might carry him out of bounds might stop the clock but he knew to get down he was fighting to make sure he fell down in the field to play as result the clock keeps taking on Third and short trying to impose their will and move the chains and he'll take it in they couldn't get him on the ground touch down Broncos and the extra point extends the lead to double figures at 10 about to kick it off after punching it in for the touchdown makes the score State 45 Arizona 35 and no chance at a return here they'll start this drive at their own 25 Arizona sending the offense onto the field the last time we saw this offense we had to look quick it was a three and out Jesse he just had no rhythm in that last drive so someone's going to have to step up and make a play David and get this thing going yeah let's find some juice find your guy find those plays that you know you can run inside out forward backwards get some first downs get some positive momentum fires to the wide out complete to the right and he's knocked down immediately but not before he moves the chains this defense better not blink I know they've got a lead here in the fourth quarter but just look at who they're going against this quarterback is one of the best in the nation they cannot rest on their Laurels someone's going to have to make a play and they reacted well to the completion but it was too late to keep them from getting the first down well down two possessions good news is you get the completion bad news though did not get out of bounds you know right now saving the clock that is at a premium for this offense Arizona in a hurry I love playing man-to-man defense and I love getting up in your kitchen and jamming you at the line of scrimmage but it's really hard when they start running these Crossing routes and drags and ends because now I'm in Chase mode and the QB has a little bit of space A lot of times and those fast guys can create some separation and get a first down like they did there couldn't find his man last time now they'll have to convert third and fourth they keep attacking through the air all kinds of room to throw that one in there they're able to keep him out of the end zone he'll be stopped at the two after the big play in the passing game and he just continues to put up numbers and that number is now over 300 this guy just throws completions man the ball doesn't seem to touch the ground he's back there he's making the right reads right now he is locked into what this defense is trying to do is incom got stopped on first down they'll try it again from the two barges ahead into the end zone he goes touchdown wild cats before that score considering last rights now all of a sudden they're not dead yet in fact they're feeling much better and they're alive they've got a chance and I'm looking on the field right now I'm looking at their sideline they're energized reys after that last score all of a sudden they believe they can come back and win this game this is a totally different looking team than what we saw earlier boyy state has it back ready to go to work on offense okay Justin this is a little bit of a tight spot you'd love to be aggressive enough to get the first down but you've got to take care of the ball first no doubt I was going to say ball secur oh look at there he goes at the 30 he's at the 10 touchdown BSU and once he found daylight it was Katie Bar the Door baby and the extra point extends the lead to double figures at 10 that kind of Drive will boost your confidence One play hit the big pass put a touchdown on the board Arizona 42 and he'll bring it out of the end zone he was was hoping for something a little more Dynamic but they get him on the ground at the 20 b field in front of them as they open this possession from their own 20 wants to throw on first down good timing on the quick out excellent job working through the air they finding a hole in that defense and picking up a first down we reached the two-minute warning and we see miracles in college football all of the time and they could use one here with a first down they'll snap it from the 32 military looking downfield it's faf looking to the big tight end and wings it incomplete that's a ball that this offense should be able to complete they had the coverage they wanted receiver ran on the route just an inaccurate throw by the quarterback after the incompletion back to the passing game fires to the middle wide open downfield and they got the defense on
