L'Jarius Sneed says the Titans will dominate the AFC South

into I think that there is a lot so I did a podcast today I did my I did one of my podcasts today oh by the way B we got to figure out what the hell to do for 615 sessions tomorrow just now remembered about that but before I did Greg coell the podcast with Greg today uh a buddy of mine John leard who many of you may know because he's an excellent draft he's the person who founded the draft Network now the draft Network obviously since John moved on from it uh has gone in the dumpster which is a really really big shame because it was an excellent resource while it was functioning the way that it was functioning and John leard helped found it so leard is a buddy of mine and you can hit me with the fine system on the radio show tomorrow but he asked me to do his podcast because they're doing an AFC South preview so I said yeah I'd love to uh join the podcast I don't think I'm smart enough to be on a podcast called audibles and analytics but I did my best and so we reviewed the AFC South together uh and uh and also uh had uh so it was a a three a three-person round table on the AFC South and so what we talked about so ledard had a format for the podcast and he's saying well I want you to go in fact I'll read you how he how he broke this down because I thought it was a pretty good way to do this so the way that he set it up was who got better and who got worse in the division this off season best or most impactful newcomer in the division non rookie breakout player in the division non rookie rookie to watch in the division final standings predictions how many teams make the playoffs from this division so that's the way that we did the podcast for lard today and we got to the final standings predictions for the Tennessee Titans and I'm not or for for the AFC South and shocking to No One all three of us went with the Texans to win the division this year but what I got what I haven't had this off season is an opportunity to go on a show or a podcast like that I've done some serious XM interviews some Vin interviews and stuff like that but it's all been about the Titans not really been able to have a division wide preview or division-wide conversation with other football people to kind of Bounce some stuff off people in other markets see how they feel about the team that I cover see how I feel about the teams that they cover and it was a really really interesting conversation I don't say all that to plug lards podcast I say all that because of this I next to the other three teams in the AFC South I wasn't sure how to be feel about the Titans because I have spent so much time covering writing reporting reading talking to everybody everything about the Tennessee Titans right haven't done a ton of work on the Jags haven't done a ton of work on the Texans haven't done a ton of work on the Cults until I was getting ready to do this podcast it was a fun homework assignment for me so what we what we ended up getting into was their perspective on the Titans and them kind of bouncing it off me and it was it was pretty standard right major key says he hears a cat in the background yeah moon has gotten into the uh moon has gotten into the uh the catnip which I regrettably uh put out for them earlier today so that's probably why they're tweaking a little bit uh running around in the background but with uh with the conversation that we had I ended up being a lot lower on the Titans relative to the rest of the division than I probably would have been had we been having a conversation on one of my platforms right and that made me stop and think about it because so often do we get caught up in the teams that we you know the teams that we cover and so hyperfocused on those individual teams that you often don't take the time to actually analyze the other three teams that they're surrounded by and see how you feel about how they stacked up now what I would say to you is that uh lerus need is is about to throw all this in my face and all anybody's face who is uh who is doubting the Titans and I'll tell you and I'll let you hear from leria sne here in just a second but it's not that I'm down on the Titans it's that I'm high on the division I'm up on the AFC South for the first time I I mean in in a long time maybe the first time in eight years do I think the AFC South is going to be a top to bottom competitive Division and I just don't think that Titans are there yet but you'll have to listen to the podcast to see where I pick the Titans to finish because you guys know I don't do I don't do uh picks very often but ledard backed me into a corner on this and had me predict the final standings in the AFC South so you'll have to check out the audible and analytics podcast to see where I picked the Titans to finish but with lerus Sneed and all the Titans players whether it's Levis whether it's Simmons whether it's Brian Callahan who's even acknowledged yeah there's not a lot of interest or or or belief in what it is that Tennessee is doing Ken says so you basically turned into a mainstream media snob who usually doubts us the Colts of the darling division Darlings every SE season even though they've got a running back at the quarterback position well I don't know what they have at the quarterback position and neither do you frankly you don't know what you have at the quarterback position just yet and that's kind of the place where Colts and Titans fans are right now Colts fans are probably well actually Colts fans don't seem ter optimistic about everything that's gone on around Anthony Richardson because they they look appreciably worse than Tennessee does in training camp in the preseason but with that being said I didn't turn into anything it's just that I you know had the opportunity to have a more well-rounded conversation rather than just being an echo chamber of you guys and me and saying yeah you know I think this team could be way way better than they were the past two seasons and still probably fall well short of where they expect is for them to be so preseason games allow for Hope as Susan snck says and I like that comment because you did go undefeated in the preseason you put some really nice things on tape Levis put some really nice things on tape leam put some really nice things on tape but there are always there are always things that you haven't considered about the other three teams in the division until it's time to play the divisional games and you see how all this stuff plays out so all of that to say that larius sne did a interview on the pivot podcast when uh all those dudes were in town Ryan Clark Fred Taylor chanon Crowder uh all came in for the Titans joint training camp practices with the Seahawks and I was curious uh to see who they were here to interview I thought it might be ran I thought there was a chance it could be Callahan ended up being lerus sne and the interview is great because they got a lot out of lerus sne and for whatever the mainstream opinion might be about Tennessee the belief internally is that this team is about to be a bunch of ass kickers in ways that they are not expected to be think about think about just the gambling odds and I'll pull this up on uh on uh Zen Sports here in just a second but think about how big a gulf there is between the other three teams in the AFC South and gambling odds aren't you know aren't the end all be all but the three AFC South teams Texans Jags Colts have significantly better odd than the Titans who were like plus 1,000 to win the division and even the difference between the Colts and the Titans where I don't think their rosters are really that different there's a huge golf Vegas is out completely on Tennessee winning uh the AFC South much less the projected win total of six and a half is anemic they are projected to be one of the fourth or fif fifth worst teams in the NFL by the gambling odds do the gambling odds mean anything no and that's that's why you play football Gam games to go out there and prove people wrong uh I I I don't even know what this name is but the the last part is Raven Itachi Itachi Raven says you can actually hear the excitement in Buck's voice this is the most excited I've seen him but I understand well it's just it's it's it's I one we're closer to football season and like we're closer to this actually mattering so now you know there's renewed just like there's Renewed Energy for you guys as we get closer to football season there's Renewed Energy for me because I know the preseason is over and the next time I cover a football game it's actually going to count and we can actually sink our teeth into you know why I'm excited we spent six months talking about this and now we actually get to find out whether it's good or not whether it is actually taken the steps that we think it has taken or whether there are some things that maybe trading can't misled us or maybe we got too caught up in the preseason or you know there's any number of things that can be learned as this team progresses through and I'm excited to learn more about what your football team actually is because I've spent all all this time talking about all these things in theory and I think that Colts fans are also interested in how their team is going to uh progress I think that jaguars fans are praying to the football Gods above that Trevor Lawrence even though he's making 55 plus million dollars a year finally has his breakout year and then the Texans fans are sitting at the top of the roost being like hahaa we've got it all figured out you guys are a bunch of dopes we hit all our draft picks correctly and we got the quarterback and we have the second best left tackling football who was already on the roster and we had just as much cap space as the rest of you dummies so Texans fans are Texans fans are unbothered right now it's the other three teams in the AFC South who are trying to figure out what they actually have in these football teams so lerus sne he is not you know he is not buying into the preseason hype around any other AFC South team not Nam the Tennessee Titans understandably so he plays aside and actually be realistic about what this division might be where do you think the Titans finish in the AFC South in 2024 I'll tell you how I feel about it here in just a second right after I in the AFC South so does Michael Smith that's seems to be a popular opinion Allan Jones going a little further with it second AR gets hurt Jag struggle again which is all very possible we've seen that play out a Anthony Richardson I I don't know what to do with Anthony Richardson I I I mean full transparency and I don't think this this will not come as a shock to any of you and you know the NFL felt the same way that I did about this but I liked Richardson a lot more than I liked Levis coming out of college even though the sample size was so much smaller on Richardson than it was on Levis now my belief and I I don't even think that it's a that it's a belief because it's quantifiably so there has never been a more athletically gifted player to test at the combine at the quarterback position than Anthony Richardson Anthony Richardson is literally the be an athlete does not connote good quarterback something to keep in mind but there's never been a more athletic player at the quarterback position to do the combine testing the way that Anthony Richardson did that's not the only reason that I like like him but it is the reason that I think that he has the highest ceiling of any of the four of them in the division ironically enough now could Anthony Richardson not pan out to be anything because he can't stay healthy and and is infinitely unavailable he appeared in five games last year and he didn't finish five games he appeared in five games so all the projection all the you know all the athletic upside it could all be for for nothing it could be Caleb Farley right athletic upside potential potentially best quarter in the draft who knows let's see what happens and then his body fails him and he's cut by the team that drafted him the first round uh in the fourth year the final year of his contract without really seeing the field so Anthony Richardson could be like Caleb Farley without the personal tragedy off the field and it be a completely null and void conversation none of us know though which is the problem with trying to figure out these four teams and it's why I really struggled what to do with the Titans and with the Colts because like I said the two biggest unknowns on both of their osters are the quarterbacks and obviously I think I know more about Levis than I do about Richardson because I'm around him every day and I've been watching him every day for the past I guess year and a half um and going back to their college careers but there is something about Richardson that is intriguing there's a reason that he was the what was he the uh fourth overall pick in the NFL draft after the Texans traded back up to three to get Will Anderson so where do you have the Titans finishing in the AFC South Second and only by a game says Malachi Perry Craig Baxter says if you're fir if you're not first you're last going with the Ricky Bobby approach Vernon Sanford says first the Texans have shown their hand and will not surprise anyone that's interesting given that their roster looks significantly different than it did last year particularly on defense uh Edward Hayford Edward Hayford tough one to say Edward Hayford says LOL Buck dude can't even play five games that's what I'm saying like I really want to see Anthony Richardson play so that I can get a better gauge on what he actually is because right now I don't know he's just a freak athlete at this point in time uh he says don't you dare compare us to the Cults oh no your rosters are very very similar very very similar especially down to the giant question mark that both of you have at quarterback it it really I mean if you if you made me if you made me pick one of the other and and for the purposes of this exercise I will pick one over the other but I uh I really um I it I struggled to find that much separation between either of those two rosters because the Colts while they didn't go out and spend the way that you did in free agency though they had the money they paid a lot of their own dudes the biggest difference to me between the Colts and the Titans is the secondary the secondary for the Cults is dog um and the Titans have obviously invested a ton of capital trade assets um free agency dollars well I guess yeah free agency dollars and then trade trading for for a player and then paying him in lerus need and acquiring quandre Diggs and acquiring Jamal Adams and trading away uh and trading away Elijah molden today today made official they are they are very similar to me the only difference being that you cannot trust the cold secondary whatsoever but the front for for Indianapolis is excellent and I think that Tennessee I I like where Tennessee is trending but I would probably pick the Colts front seven over the Titans front seven right now we're getting two bog down in these two teams Let's uh let's hear from lerus need because he was asked about this going to a fourth place team in the NFC AFC South after winning back-to-back Super Bowls with the Kansas City Chiefs this is what lerus sne had to say somebody told me Steph actually called the Texans and say I want to go down here and be in the same division with you so you can't run away from him now you got to see him twice a year twice year I'm ready for it but he made a special call to say I'm glad he made that call for for you I'm glad he made that call what that look like cuz CJ CJ like that boy like Pat he's not young he's not like bat I respect his game he got some he got some game but I'm not worried about none of that right now none of it they got to stick over there yeah we do too we got to stick too you'll see when we play them I'mma definitely see I mean that's my division too cuz Jacksonville and the whole thing so's up what you going to do when you come down to Duvall I'm not worried about D ball neither none of it that's the B worri about none of it they worried about us okay that young boy beat BTR beat Brian Thomas did understand what he did I understand that I'm ready to okay all right Fred does anything about this man sitting here say that he running from any smoke hey hey I I see I see the gifs or the gifs or whatever GF man way he Dogg and Tyreek know time I got to rough him up and see where he at so that's lerus Sneed a clip from lerus Sneed on the pivot and I I love love the attitude I love it and I absolutely expect that that's the way that they're going to play now realistically how much does attitude translate into wins well it's absolutely critical to how they carry themselves and there's no question to me there's no question to me that the that the The Changing of the Guard right not just because Brian Callahan is here and Mike Ravel is not but from a roster standpoint the Titans for the last two years have been losers losers terrible terrible as a football team looking lifeless down the stretch in particularly the seven game slide in 2022 and then of course the way that 2023 went where they were they were out of it I mean not as soon as the season began but you know that they you we all understood that they had very very little chance of doing anything meaningful maybe you talked yourself into it a little bit last year maybe you got excited that will Levis might be able to do something and will Levis did Elevate the team that he was on and turns out that elevating the team that we was he was on was still only good for a three and six record so we understand what they have pulled themselves out of and that the vast majority of those players even are no longer here it's a 75% roster flip since John Robinson was fired that is huge to do over the course of two seasons I know it's like two and a half Seasons or two and a half I guess it's technically two off Seasons because John got fired in December of 202 if I remember correctly but you cleared all the losers out all the losing mentality out and I don't and I don't mean that Mike Vel is a loser or Derrik Henry is a loser but the guys who it had set in on the guys who had soaked into their bones that they were going to give their Max effort and it still wasn't going to be good enough because their football team was garbage now you come in with people that haven't experienced that losing that weren't on this team when they lost seven straight games and blew the division in Jacksonville that weren't on this team last year Watching Andre Dillard undermine them third down after third down after third down right so that does account for something because all that bad juju all that unquantifiable stuff that hangs over you when that losing starts to sink in you send it out right and they've continued to send out John Robinson players H Haskins Weaver molden if I was chicka cono I'd keep my head on a swivel because I mean I think DMR I don't know how DMR at least you know against twos and threes I understand that he's facing a lesser level of competition and he hasn't played in regular season games but like DMR and chig are not that far apart to me and they definitely play the same position so you have done all of these things with all the money that you had in the offseason and all the draft cap that you had because of the poor finishes right rare were the Titans picking in the top 10 in the last six years and so they have the opportunity to pick at the top of the draft order this way so that attitude matters for something I also think that this is a legitimately good roster not just because they've added Ernest Jones though Ernest Jones does help not just because they've added lerus need where lerus need I mean we went through this I think the two biggest Acquisitions because there were all kind of play that came to the AFC South this off season not just the Titans but the uh the Texans and the Jaguars signed a good deal of free agents as well denil Hunter and Stefan Diggs to me are the two most impactful uh well actually denil Hunter and leria Sneed to me are the two most impactful players that were brought over into the AFC South this year Stefan Diggs makes it a lot more fun and those matchups between Diggs and Sneed are gonna be excellent but I think that with all of this I think that with all of this denil Hunter is probably the biggest impact of any of these players that came over to the AFC South but think about how much better you are at Center how much better you are at wide receiver how much better you are on defense now that they've made all of these moves seven new starters on the defensive side of the ball I'm pretty sure it's like 15 or 16 of the 22 that you're going to have as new starters heading into this year so there is a lot to look love about what the Titans have done what it's going to look like in principle we have no idea but the fact that Sneed oozes that confidence is going to be you know that that trickle down effect of how he carries himself as a defending two-time Super Bowl champion that's where that's that's the kind of attitude that dard Wilson wants to see that Rand carthon wants to see and in fact we had Rand carthon on the radio show today and we were talking about a lot of this stuff in particular but where do I think they actually finish in the AFC South we've seen you guys make your picks uh and I'm going to tell you mine here in just a second because I've got it written down in my handy dandy little notebook one two 3 4 uh for the first time again in four years I've made a pick about where the Titans are going to finish uh and I'll tell you here in just a Texans winning the division the only reason that I have any doubt in my mind that the Texans wouldn't win the division is because their schedule is hideous I mean it is brutal they played a worst place schedule which you have ahead of you uh this year which is a lovely thing and they went from worst in the division to first in the division in just a year's time which is a tough thing to do and they did so they did so incrementally right it wasn't all as once at all at once and it didn't look great all the time but the Texans did the thing that not a lot of teams get to do but ultimately went about doing not unprecedented they flipped it from worst to first in the AFC South now this year their schedule gets infinitely harder which is why honestly I I thought about a couple of different options here I weighed I weighed the the the percentage chance truly that I think every team had to finish in first place in the AFC South and for me the hardest sell the hardest sell of any of this was from was Jacksonville Jacksonville is the hardest was the the team that I had the toughest time talking myself into at the top of the division I could not make the case for it now watch them watch them finally get it right with Trevor Lawrence and go out there and win the AFC South this year and make us all look like because you know I mean Trevor Lawrence has been not the model of consistency dealt with a lot of injuries last year and they paid him $55 million a year anyway but honestly I had a hard I had a more difficult time talking myself into into a Jags first place finish than I did uh for example a hypothetical where I would pick the Titans to finish finish first place in the AFC South so I went Texans Jags Titans CTS I don't know what to do with Indianapolis I wanted I wanted there was a part of me that wanted to you know just go completely haywire and pick the Colts to win the division because I do again emphasize I think Anthony Richardson has the highest ceiling of the four of them but I couldn't justify it not realistically not without you know being some kind of hot take artist and that's not what I'm here to do I'm here to give you my honest opinion so I couldn't pick the Cults um because the giant unknown at quarterback was not going to be uh sustainable to me so I went Texans Jags Titans Colts and it was really a push for me between the Colts and the Titans I don't think there's a lot of separation between those two teams I don't think any team is going to sweep another team in the AFC South this year I think they're all going to be meaningfully competitive uh Edward Hayford says you better not pick them well listen if I thought they were better than you then I would pick them like my my job is to not is not to cuddle you and and make you feel better just because oh look he picked the Titans look at him he's on our side that's not how this works I'm going to give you an honest assessment of how I see these four teams and that's the honest assessment of how I see these four teams I think because honestly there's a world in which the Titans finish fourth again but you still feel way better about this football team than you did now obviously no one no one wants to finish in last place in the division and a last place finish would be failure but if you see meaningful Improvement say say you say you're the AFC North this year uh say you are last year's AFC North where all four teams finished with a winning record but of course only one of those teams had to get left by the wayside you had three AFC North teams make the playoffs last year in the Ravens who won the division in the Browns who had the second place finish in the Pittsburgh Steelers who your backup quarterback Mason Rudolph won four games in a row to get them to the postseason and Cincinnati whose offensive coordinator you hired to be their head coach but what did they finish they finished nine and eight with a fourth place finish so I I think there's a real scenario in which all of these teams are right there neck and neck with one another and it ends up coming down to the final stretch of the season now the thing that benefits the Titans all of your AFC South games damn near all of your AFC South games except for week six home for the Colts uh are in the back half of the schedule it's week 12 and on for your AFC South schedule so even if you even if you get got a couple of times uh in the first couple of weeks and I think that's very possible like if the Titans started the year one and four that would not surprise me at all because Chicago is the most winnable game but that's on the road and that's going to be a buzz saw New York is going to be as healthy as they're going to be all year long unless Aaron Rogers pulls an Achilles trick on the what four snaps into the game again the Jets are not an easy opponent to play against that defense is going to be one of the best in the league Green Bay has a quarterback that you could make the argument has the potential to be a top four or five player at the position for the Ascension that he's on and the scheme that he plays in and then a Monday night football game at Miami two in the dolphins all of those games early if the Titans went one and four that would not surprise me nor should it surprise you but if you went one and four or excuse me one and three and you came out of that and you're scoring in 25 27 points a game and the defense looks legit and you're losing these losing these games by one score or less right I guess it's one score by by three points or less right you're in these games like I said to uh says Tua scares you no but Tyreek Hill does and you got away with it last year because he basically didn't play half the game so I I would not I'm not I'm scared of Tua with Tyreek Tua alone is how you win a Monday night football game in a in a way that you have no business winning a Monday night football game but if Tyreek Hill plays four quarters then yeah I would pick the Dolphins in that spot absolutely I would pick the Dolphins in that spot I think you would be foolish or a blind Homer to not pick the Dolphins in that spot especially at home especially in the oppressive heat that is Monday Night Football in September now Tyreek Hill can also get got by lerus sne you saw that a couple of times not just with him and the Dolphins but with him and the uh when he was with the Chiefs in practice them going back and forth them having a lot of a lot of great reps and battles against one another and this is why they play the games right because you have no idea but that that first four weeks is a big killer that's a really big killer and Miami is thought to be one of the teams that should be if not winning their division competing for a Super Bowl even though I feel like they're a bit of you know I think they're Paper Tigers a little bit so again Texans Jags Titans Colts that's how I see the AFC South this year and I think that the Titans and the Colts are basically neck and neck until we have a better idea about the quarterback position now do I think that they could mess around and and still squeak in the postseason yeah do I think that they have the ability to be in the in the hunt graphic right as we get later in the year and see how all this stuff plays out like if they're in the hunt graphic if you see them on Sunday Night Football in the hunt with those little logos those little helmets stacked up against each other about teams trying to get into the postseason but not yet in the playoff picture that to me is success you won six football games last year if you win eight that's an improvement if you win nine you're probably talking about if not a wild card spot pushing for one and that is about as good a place as you could hope to exist given where this football team is right now and all the unknowns all the unknowns Keith Clark says so what if we start three in one well then you better finish strong because all those AFC South games are going to be are going to be uh tough sledding but think about this the Texans did the worst to first thing right how many games the Texans win last year did the Texans go out and win 13 games 14 games 15 games no they won 10 so 10 games from a worst to First flip could this roster do it sure this roster could do it will the quarterback be the reason that this roster does it I have no idea how to answer that question yet have no idea how to answer that question yet you could start 0 and four you could start four and0 like the qu the the answer to me would still be the same regardless of what this looks like regardless of what of how many games you start off winning or losing all of this all of this is done trying to figure out what the hell they have at quarterback do they have a viable option moving forward into the future at quarterback don't know think so like the potential of it don't have the answer to that question yet do the Colts have a viable answer at quarterback have no idea like like him and the fit with Shane Sten in that offense but he he played in five games last year you have no idea what Anthony Richardson is as a pro football player you have no idea what Trevor Lawrence is yet and he's a $55 million a year player think about that the idea that Trevor Lawrence was a no-brainer Tua and Trevor Lawrence think about this Tua and Trevor Lawrence Jordan love even no-brainers to pay them contracts and what have those dudes collectively won one playoff game among them it's crazy I think that there is uh there is a lot of this stuff um there is a lot of this stuff that is fascinating to me because we don't have the answers yet and the fact that we are on the precipice of finding out really really excites me I want to know what will Lis is I want to find out what Anthony Richardson is I want to see Trevor Lawrence actually live up to his potential and I would love to see CJ strad go about uh I would love to see CJ strad go about holding the fort right I want want to see CJ Stout have to defend their AFC South title I want good quarterback play in the AFC South I want good football in the AFC South how we get there remains to be seen But on paper on paper this could be one of the most competitive divisions in football and I love that that may not play itself out in your benefit this year but I think it's going to ultimately be good for you so we'll see what happens but that's how I would project the AFC South right now none of you seem happy with that and that's okay you'll get over it uh because if you know if anything changes now you get the opportunity for the first time in 5 years of me doing the prime time show to run this back and say look you idiot you didn't know what you were talking about and that's all well and good that's why we do these kind of exercises Robert says he's got the Texans finishing first the Titans in second the Jags in third and the Colts in fourth uh I've got pistol grip Titans first Jags second Colts third and Texans forth that seems like the least likely option I might be willing to hear I mean I might even hear the case for the Titans winning the division this year but I I can't imag the the Texans will not be the odd the odd team out here un unless CJ strad you know is suffers a season ending injury uh or you know God forbid something catastrophic happens with with a with a meaningful player on their roster I mean I I still think that they would be able to survive uh any other injury basically but an injury to CJ strout I can't imagine a situation where where the Tex play fourth or or finish fourth but you know that's how it goes Vernon Sanford says I'm keeping receipts good I hope so I I am fascinated to see what this conversation looks like by the time we get to season's End by the time we start to get closer to uh to seeing this I hope you guys run this clip back because you know that's that's why we do these kind of things um Brandon says how about you talk about how the Titans addressed every need and got way better you should move to Indiana well um I did I have I've spent six months talking about your football team and their honeymoon thing like here's the thing that I don't want to do because Brandon and comments like Brandon's are going to give me a bad attitude because you guys know that I've been sitting here for six months talking about you checking literally all the boxes that you needed to check to improve your football team there is not a team of these four teams that got better than the Titans did this off season do you know why because the Titans could not get any worse so just because you have addressed all of your needs and you are an infant itely better team than you were six months ago that doesn't mean that you are an infinitely better team than every team in the division it just means that you're not trash the way that you were for the last two seasons so I want to see how it all comes together I have plenty of questions about all four of them well I mean I really don't have that many te questions about the Texans other than uh what's Deno ay gonna look like when they get back from suspension and how good are the Texans going to be my my only question about the Houston Texans is one can they stay healthy on the offensive line because because they had one of the unhealthiest offensive lines in football last year and two uh how good can they actually be are they of the caliber of Baltimore and Cincinnati with burrow and obviously uh Kansas City with Patrick Mahomes no idea what that is but I you know I wouldn't I wouldn't pick them any worse than fourth or fifth in the entirety of the AFC right now because they had all the c space in the world too and they spent it just the same way that you did because they also have a rookie quarterback contract that makes these things infinitely better to work around but Brandon you know bitching and moaning and whining about oh how about you talk about how the Titans and dressed every needed got way better brother my brother in Christ I have spent six months talking about literally everything that you've done I talk about it on a daily basis I talk it talk about it for three hours on the radio show I had your damn GM on today to talk about all the things that I like that he did on roster cut day but here you're gonna sit whining and crying just because I didn't pick the Titans to finish first in the division and because you feel like today specifically I haven't spent enough time talking about how much better they are that's just that's just bitching and moaning and it's it's it's needless at this point other than you just you know you're being a sore loser about it and that's you won't but I genuinely love the fact that after two years of sucking the way that the Titans have sucked that you guys have gotten this honeymoon phase to kind of reinvigorate you around your football team because I I mean you guys know how I how I feel about it but I I could see and tell how much it's been wearing on you over the course of the last two seasons because you you were so close right you were a game away from the Super Bowl you had a 10-point lead in Kansas City over momes to go to the Super Bowl and then you had the number one overall seed and that with I mean just the most catastrophic crash to Earth that I can remember I mean maybe the Chargers and the way that they blew that game against the Jags that was pretty catastrophic um but it's between those two for the worst postseason losses that I've seen a team take in the last you know let's say the last decade of watching NFL I the this the Bengals playoff loss I mean hit you guys like a bomb and it was never the same since right that that loss broke that version of the Titans and I think broke the fan base a little bit so that you've gotten this honeymoon phase that you've gotten actual money to spend top 10 draft picks to use like I love that for you because I can see you guys coming back to life a little bit and I need you to come back to life a little bit because I'm covering your football team whether they're good or not so I would like you guys to be along for the ride with me because you know I'm going to be there week one in Chicago I'm going to be there Monday Night Football in Miami I'm going to travel with your team all year long and I'm tired of having January it off I'd like to work a playoff uh again it's been a little while I got a dust off dust myself off because I've had two januaries in a row with nothing to do but hang out in downtown Nashville and go party with my friends and I'd much rather be covering the playoffs um so I would like to see you return to a level of competitiveness and I love that you guys have gotten this honeymoon phase but the honeymoon ends on September the 8th when real football starts and real adversity starts to present itself whether it's injury whether it's losses you don't think your football team should take whether it's wins that you think your football team shouldn't have gotten away with there will be moments that EV appreciate even though I I laugh when I see a comment like Edwards where he says favorite move after the draft Buck every move has been the best move well we'll we'll see but I love that for you I love the energy um so balancing truth says nothing relevant after the dra after the draft all key moves done before that uh your roster just indicated that that is not in fact the case that's a ridiculous comment Ernest Jones is going to be a starting linebacker and you acquired him two days ago so yeah that's been what three months after the draft four months after the draft so again a ridiculous statement um Ernest Jones says Robert capano I hope I'm pronouncing that correctly is his favorite move uh best move the linebacker angel James so she clearly agrees B French not playing the game he says his favorite move is Calvin Ridley that was a free agent acquisition so that's incorrect uh there is H keeping the five tight ends says Jeff Haynes all deserving um we cut a lot of dead weight says Brandon Brown and it could be Cuts right it could be your favorite move could be them Clearing House of the John Robinson draft picks almost right Raiden chig Burks and npf oh mccre those are those are the players that are left that John Robinson drafted in the last three years of his draft now obviously you've got Harold Lander you've got Jeff Simmons but like there are two eras of John Robinson there's good John Robinson and there's bad John Robinson so all of the bad era John Robinson picks are on their way out the door those five players you're kind of looking at and saying all right how much longer are you actually going to be around here and that could be your favorite move of of the post-draft roster transactions just clearing out the dead weight whether you think Elijah molden or Hassan H Haskins or Rashad Weaver was dead weight regardless your football team did and they moved on from them so that can absolutely be one of your favorite moves um I think that there are a lot of different things uh Max Titan says just pretend you're a Titans fan Buck come on man no that's not how this works listen you guys I I appreciate that may may my my girlfriend okay I'll I'll I'll I'll let you guys I'll let you guys in on this my girlfriend her family die hard Titans fans they have had season tickets at Adelphia Coliseum LP Field Nissan Stadium since the team moved here from Memphis she asked me one time if if for whatever reason if for whatever reason I didn't have to work a game would I go with her to a game I said absolutely not I'm not going with you to a Titans game if I'm not on the clock you are out of your damn mind no that's not and and it's not not just because they're specifically the Titans I don't have an NFL team and if I have a Sunday off damn sure I'm doing something other than going a Titans game it's got nothing to do with you guys got nothing to do with your football team it's just that it's my job you know do you want to go to work when you don't have to work no is my work a lot different because it's a football game hell yes but like I she wants me to be a Titans fan so badly I I I think it breaks her heart a little time a little every time we have a conversation like you guys and I have a conversation about yeah honey that's just not happening that's not how this works uh so favorite move in the post-draft uh post-draft roster transaction situation uh I think that there are a lot of different things a lot of different things to like about what they've done but what I have really really enjoyed is the acquisition of so there's there's two parts here trading Elijah molden threed up freed up about $3 million worth of cap space trading for Ernest Jones on a very cost-effective trade by the way where you trade uh where you trade a uh fifth round a 2025 excuse me a 2026 fifth round selection for Ernest Jones and a 2026 sixth round selection those two things because Ernest Jones making about the same amount of money as Elijah molden was in the final year of his deal those two transactions corresponding and leading to an upgrade on the defense and sending away an ancillary player who you could have just cut um that that was my favorite move and because it's such a perfect fit for dinard Wilson's defense which is exactly what Greg coell and I talked about on the install today except Bert I don't see that clip Bert where is the Greg coell clip is it in here I don't see it oh that's disappointing to hear because I was really looking forward to showing Titans fans all the nice thing look get on camera right now no no no don't hold a finger up to me get on camera right now and tell these good people about what you've done I'll call the fire department to Bert's house and you'll you'll exact your Vengeance that way Bert's gonna get the clip of Greg coell talking about Ernest Jones IV because he is the perfect fit for this Titans defense and we Greg and I talked about this uh Greg and I talked about this before we recorded the show today because we've been doing division previews and Greg said you know there's no point doing a division preview today when all people are going to want to hear about is the Titans and I'm glad that he talked me out of it because I was ready to do to improve both sides of the ball in the latest acquisition Ernest Jones IV who comes via trade for the Los an from the Los Angeles Rams they only gave up a 2026 fifth round pick to get him and they got a sixth round pick in return you know and and a lot of people say that that speaks of course to the fact that stack backers are not necessarily held in high regard in this league league and that may be true it may not be true you know when it when it's not true when you don't have any I mean and and you know I've had this conversation with with defensive coaches who actually have to call games and put together a defense you know when you don't have good players at a position you know what defensive coaches say and maybe fans don't think about it this way maybe even media people don't think about it this way they say you know what that limits my options with what I can do in terms of schematics it limits my options with what I can do calling a game so it's always easy to say oh well a stack backer is not really that important in today's NFL yeah it is important on game dat and you know now you got a guy in Ernest Jones who's a really good football player I remember talking to someone with the Rams telling me two years ago that he was their best defensive player you know and again they had Aaron Donald so we're not saying he's better than Aaron Donald that's not the point but I mean we're dealing with a really really good player a player that plays all three Downs you know he does not come off the field so you know when I saw that trade the other day uh was it yesterday or Tuesday whatever it was I yeah Tuesday I I lose track you know it's that time of year you know I'm starting for yeah um but I said wow that is a really really good move um it was it was after I found out about chance Campbell not that he was going to be the starter and he's a great player but I just felt so badly for the kid you know cuz he's worked so hard and actually had a really good preseason and now he's obviously done for the year but um anyway Jones is a really really good player that was a great trade that is Greg coell of NFL films on today's episode of the install and uh Bert since you're slacking I'll allow you to drop the YouTube link for people to go check out the podcast so they can hear all the nice things that Greg had to say about the roster since they're very but hurt about me not picking them to win the division that's okay just a few of you that are being whiny about that and I appreciate that's all right at least you care uh so that would be my favorite move because I think it infinitely upgrades your defense I think losing a ziz Al share was tough Ernest Jones is better Ernest Jones is a better version of what AZ Al share gave you last year Kenneth Murray is a better version of what they had to work with last year as well in Jack Gibbons this is going to be a infinitely better linebacker group than it was and I we again I mentioned we had Rand carthon on the radio show today uh and uh and I asked Ran hey were you were you looking at trading for Ernest Jones before chance Campbell got hurt and he said yeah we had been in contact with the Rams uh before the uh before the chance Campbell ACL tear in New Orleans because I believe the reports of Ernest Jones being available for trade came out like maybe a day maybe two days before the uh before the Titans did play that preseason game and before chance Campbell ultimately tore his ACL which just sucks absolutely terrible um to see that happen to a dude who's at a really really nice camp in preseason B says is Greg's dad the famous Howard coell no Greg's hard of Titans fans would probably pick up on on a regular basis and I thought Jack and Austin Huff worked off each other excellently um it makes me sad uh that Jack is leaving a toz but I know he's going to do bigger and better things so I'm excited for him and I hope everything that Jack is pursuing ends up going Jack's way also uh stock up a toz I know we did stock up stock down last night but uh stock up eight is z they're going to do full-time college football coverage I saw today that was the big announcement I uh I am excited about that um not just Tennessee Vs is what they're going to cover they're going to have I think like 20 different dedicated we sites to various college football teams as we get ready for a uh as we get ready for a um as we get ready for the 12 team playoff which is very much what all college football fans are looking forward to so that will be excellent Matt Stanley says R.P to one of my exercise podcasts well you know keep keep working out even though the Titan podcast is uh is not going to uh continue uh Edward said he's still doing the Pod well that's not what he told me the last time I talked to him because he told me I was on the second the last episode up Podcast so I don't think that's happening but maybe something's changed in the uh in the week since I talked to Jack about that but bounceback players who got cut from NFL rosters today or excuse me over the course of this week because players will get cut players will continue to get cut players will find homes and players will uh be able to succeed or fail with their respective opportunities and it was cool to see because these things happen every year but it's rare that a team puts them on video uh teams making the players on the end of the roster making the roster Titans put out like a five and a half minute video of various guys including Thomas Ooa uh David Martin Robinson JN auku Andrew rupic uh a handful of different players that made the Titans roster that were getting called into the GM's office thinking that they were going to get cut ready yeah all right we ready y what's up man have a seat man I mean you know what today is it's the cut down day and you know we've had a ton of conversations with your teammates you know and uh for you you know releasing guys and whatnot but um our conversation with you is going to be different we just wanted to let you know that you made the team are you serious really yeah oh my God all Jason God y'all scare the out of [Laughter] I called my agent and everything I was like dude 245 I go no way they're calling me at 245 to cut me well we're not so so you were right thanks thank you thank you you don't have to thank us you earned it you know we don't we we're not giving these spots out yeah I know but you guys gave me the opportunity you know that's all that's all I wanted needed you know me I'm I'm just thankful and then just the culture here like I just like it I just like it everything you guys got going on here I'm just so happy to be a part of it oh my God that's amazing you you made the 53 man you've earned it you had a hell of a journey from being an international practice squad guy um to now you on the you're on a 53 man man I mean you got a got a viral clip on the on the internet of chasing down a guy um I think when we talk when we talk about building a culture and you know getting guys that are made it the right they going to do things and the sign that out there that says play like a Titan you know what I mean you fit every last single one of those things you don't know this but where we were sitting at the game um on Sunday in New Orleans the New Orleans fans hate everybody MH um after you chase the guy down the fans next to us I was getting up to go uh go do TV guy was like you better I cut 89 and then the third quarter uh you had a catch and they start cheering for you you know which says a lot you know what I mean and that's a testament to your work so um you know it's guys like you man make our job hard you were the first person to teach uh my daughter what reporting eligible was cuz I've never seen somebody take so much pride in reporting eligible you know what I mean um but n man you earned it you know um you've done everything we we've had asked you to do it's not easy for a young undrafted guy to come into this league and especially into the room that you came into you know what I mean it probably be one of our heaviest rooms you know but because all of you guys earned the right you know to be here and so we found our job wasn't to collect numbers and make sure we hit numbers at a certain position it was to get the best 53 and we felt like he was one of the best 53 or9 it's a blessing it's a blessing thank you make sure you call your family yeah you know what I mean I want you to experience every emotion if if whatever that emotion is you know as a former undrafted guy we didn't get the call on draft day to be able to cheer this this is your draft day yeah it's a little bit better too this is better this is better that delay gratification yeah just that right there I had just so much adrenaline I was like no way like the whole way here I was like got to keep it cool don't know what it is they didn't say to bring my iPad I was like I'll bring it just in case they didn't say to I was like just in case but but well you get to keep it yeah thank you I appreciate it you get to keep it super impressive to see the transition you've made from being a safety to moving in the box and learning how to play linebacker and learn how to do all the things that linebackers have to do which is all new stuff and then you're doing it at the pro level it's been pretty cool to watch and I uh it's real what Rand said like you have no idea how good you can be because you could be a really really good player in this league and so put the work in like you've done so far and keep doing it cuz we're going to be counting on it at some point this year I can guarantee it all right so we'll be be ready for it yes sir all right man appreciate you congrats man you've earned this opportunity you know to be on this team um and you know have a shot at playing on Sunday so congratulations man thank thank you so much for the oh my that wasn't what you thought you were coming in here for huh yeah and you know smile
