welcome to Tampa Raymond James Stadium and while it is indeed home to the 2021 won Super Bowl champion Buccaneers it is also the home field for the USF Bulls and the Clash that we have in store today there's just something about the night cap after a day of wall toall football it just seems this is when chaos ensues as we'll see a team looking for its first win the Kenesaw State owls taking on a squad hoping to prevent another L this week the south Florida bus glad to have you with us for EA Sports sports college football I'm Reese Davis David poock and Jesse Palmer with me in the booth guys we are ready to tee it [Music] up the Bulls will get us started with the opening kickoff and he's going to bring it out at the 17 and he's probably second guessing that [Music] [Applause] return the offense set for a first down play easy wide receiver coming across in motion try to get the edge with a quick touch pass and the Freshman does a great job using his technique and getting the man on the ground and these little touch passes man they're just the easiest completions ever for quarterbacks Palmer I bet you would have loved being able to just Flip It Forward that counts as to your completion percentage which is good and then it's all run after the catch so pretty easy for a QB you wouldn't have been the only All-American in this booth David if I were allowed to have Push passes when I was playing quarterback I'll tell you that it is so hard to defend it's so hard to seal that edge especially when this guy's Full Speed Ahead coming around really needed to play like that to get out of their own end they move the chains they mark it at the 29 these routes have some reads and adaptability built in and the big fella found that cushion and made the play man it's so awesome how much offenses have evolved they know exactly what they're getting where to sit down quarterback tight end on the same page gets the first down to the air on first down and the defense gets to the quarterback that's a good example there of complimentary defense the DBS and linebackers are playing Zone they're playing their spaces and they force the QB to to have to hold the ball try to work through his progressions and then the pass rush they win up front not a lot of productivity on that last play they'll try it again on second and long from the 23 touch pass on the Jet Sweep good solid determined run there they'll Mark him down at the 27 well and on these little push passes timing is so important you're trying to snap it right as he's getting a full head of steam when he gets the ball he's hitting the outside and David it puts the defense in such a difficult spot you immediately have to be rotating when you see that motion so everybody's got to communicate and kind of bump over that's why offenses love to run it just it makes the defense communicate and see if you can just get him out of the spot and the pressure gets to him down goes to quarterback yeah the defense you know third and long situations I'm rushing the quarterback you bringing the nickel a little bit more speed on the field and the defensive line gets home and gets the sack on third down fourth down and the punt team sends it the other way and this ball is going to be touchdown just shy of Midfield on first down here comes this [Music] [Applause] defense power football with the Run we'll give him a couple on that one second and eight coming up and offenses want to continue to feature the Run they want balance even if it's not super successful you can take it little bit at a time just to keep that defense honest after picking up a couple at second and eight motion from the offense Brown wants to pass he's got his man slamed to the ground but not before he gets the first down routes like that are great times to be quarterbacks I got great fast Speedy guys on the outside quick drag route get the ball in his hands let him do the rest it's first and 10 from the 38 yd line [Applause] the give to the back and they'll wrestle him to the ground after a short gain that's a really good job by the defense wrapping them up getting them on the ground take away that run game make them onedimensional put him in passing situations really good job by the [Music] defense picked up two yards on that last one they need eight on second down he's looking to throw got him in it's Alexis I love the QB he holds it he holds it he holds it just long enough to let the receiver run the drag route and then he puts it out in front of him so he can catch it on the run in stride and then turn up field to use his speed wide out in motion it's reverse runs through the tackle I like it I like the play call so many people get very conservative down in the Red Zone nice job of the offense get some speed on the perimeter try to make a play nice positive game I like that thought process just a little bit different [Applause] fying playaction pressure coming and the rush will get to him at the 25 and that's a great job by the defense not letting that bird out of the cage when you can run like this guy can you got to keep the edge did a great job he went backwards retreated gave up some ground that didn't give up the outside got the sack on the play feeling some heat trying to make magic with his feet picks up the first down and gets down to avoid contact well the defense just spent a whole lot of energy trying to chase that guy they weren't able to get him down initially they had to pursue and he got out of the pocket and started getting up field and they've spent a lot of gas and a whole lot of wind you might have to substitute some fresh bodies on the field now considering that you're going to be backed up on your and he takes it to the house touchdown USA it gets closer and closer to the end zone right here you know what's coming as a defense the offense has to be physical and they were the back knew exactly where he had to get to to get six and with the extra point they got the first seven of the game so that's a 60yd touchdown drive and they punctuated it with the 5yd touchdown run and and he passes on the Touchback here he comes rolling the dice to bring it out of the end zone did not work out as he stopped at the [Music] 13 guys we're about to see this kenesa state offense go back to work they just didn't quite find the Rhythm on that last Drive Jesse they had to punt it I think they got to be more physical daveid I think up front they got to do a better job getting blocks and establishing this running game and how easy does football become if you're the more physical team if you can threaten the run and then then run play action it opens up the whole offense at your disposal second and very short here for the offense from the gun the running back has it and with that the Chain Gang will get busy first down kennes state this is a guy that can find you the hidden yardage that play he just pushes the pile to get that first in now on First and 10 from the 27 defense going to jam these receivers right off the line to the ground he's got it again bound that space and picked up six out to the 33 I know it's sexy to throw the football but if you can pound it away and get these kind of gains they will just add up where the defense down get first downs and ultimately get some points they'll go to the ground and they'll bring him down but not before he picks up the first down all right nothing flashy there he just did what it took to get the first down this kenesa state offense is on the move the back goes in motion got him looking run wants to throw trying to get to it hit hard as he released the ball on that first down pass and it never had a chance this QB already in the first quarter has taken some serious punishment got sacked a bunch got hit a bunch he's been he's been targeted a lot this offense needs to find some answers before we're going to be looking at his backup playing some serious snaps and they try the middle of this defense and that is not happening Make some noise it's third [Applause] down the of the Florida [Music] a third down play to get the quarter started from the gun wants to pass unloads to the wide out on target over the middle knock down immediately but a big gain down to the 45 well look that wasn't a touchdown that was a massive play for this offense they needed some momentum they needed to find a rhythm in what better way than converting on third down awesome job by the quarterback getting through his progression and he has a solid gain before the defense bottles him up I know the passing game sells and the passing game is exciting but it's not exciting to get five or six yards a pop on the ground but it will be very successful they'll run it from the [Applause] gun and a really nice run and pick up there before the def defense avoided disaster and stopped the really big play and that is exactly why you stick to running the football haven't had a lot of success but boom you pop one right that's what you got to do you got you cannot become onedimensional and just throw the football every down love the offense sticking to the Run nice job getting the first [Applause] down they're trying to get to it just can't pull the trigger and the quarterback is sacked at the 41 what a great job by this defense setting the tone early in the first half they've been hitting the quarterback early and often make him feel uncomfortable make him feel that pressure keep getting him on the ground that's why they built the lead he's looking for a man on second down quickly out to the tight end and the defense had that one well covered just a short game there well this tight end he's got size and he's got some athleticism and he's very difficult to cover one-onone defense is going to have their hands full with them today they've methodically worked the ball down the field 11 play of the drive coming up but this one third and long looking to throw and he needs a chunk play fires to the wide out and the misc connection on third down nice job by the defense they're mixing up their look they're third and long in field goal range they go Zone cup and wait just a second the officials going to take a second look at this one so the officials take a closer look and the replay Booth will overturn the call kenas State coming out with another first down he's going to pass gets it out quickly that completion takes them down to the seven yd line and they are ready to strike and a really nice job by the wide receiv you run a drag route find Space they're in zone coverage they're not covering manto man find a little hole look at that QB y'all get them the same page you could tell they were and that's why they got the first down fast motion from the offense quick touch pass to the receiver he's there to make the Stop and they threw it in reverse losing yardage on that play really nice job by the quarterback hey a lot of quarterbacks want to cover they want to drop back they not really about that life they don't want to be the tackling kind of guy they're like yeah leave that to the linebackers that dude committed came up made a nice tackle tight quarters deep in the Red Zone but they can pick up a first down without scoring third down he'll just keeps slinging it looking for the score to the end zone and it's picked off and the senior just snatched the ball out of the air and gave it back to his offense and it just turns out to be a missed opportunity you get the ball in the red zone and you turn it over momentum it plays a big role for teams and especially for offenses and when you have chances like that when you're down in this area of the field you've got to be able to come away with points even if it's not going to be a touchdown you are not leaving this area of the field without putting at least three up on the board missed opportunity for the really good concept there to get things going and use the tight end early yeah I mean just such a great job on first down setting up an easier second down understanding I don't always have to push the ball down the field but see the tight end make the throw know it's not a big gain but makes life really easy on the on second down well the offense knew what they needed to get that first down so they dial up the running play and they get just enough to keep the drive alive they'll put it in play from the 27 first down they'll give it to him again found that space and picked up six out to the 33 coaches always harp about staying ahead of the chains and when you can run with that type of efficiency on first down man you are doing just that 6yd pickup on first down leaves him with second and four def they want to run it left here he stop him cold maybe gets a yard to the 34 I'll tell you this is a running back who's very very dangerous and the defense did a good job getting him down there but they got to do a great job game tackling because this is a guy that can break tackles and turn those types of plays into home runs fighting off the defender and boy is he close to that first down maybe just a couple of inches short in their own territory no problem fourth in inches and they'll go for [Applause] it they'll try it on the ground he got a bunch and look close to getting a lot more but he's got the first down and I like this I like aggressiveness especially early in ball games set the tone I'm going to go for it I'm going to play Four down football nowadays it makes a lot of sense you see it with analytic go for it even if it's in your own [Applause] territory and a nice run there before the defense finally makes the stop yeah this coaching staff they're getting this offensive line lathered up and into a rhythm now they're letting them drive off the ball on first down on these running plays and they're getting chunks of [Applause] yardage the give to the tail back wrestled to the ground after picking up the first down it's the two-minute warning and we'll see if the offense can tack a little something extra on their lead before the break they're down to the 35 on First and 102 22 Brown will throw it gets it out fast they make the stop but not before they do their work up top and pick up a first down this defense now is just getting gash and if you're the defensive coordinator you might now want to think about being aggressive changing up your play calls and maybe breaking your own Tendencies because you have got to stop this offense just marching down the field and a decent gain there before the defense makes the stop you know we talk about quarterbacks having to make quick decisions and I think you saw it on that play Nobody open downfield and he just decided to take off going to work in the Red Zone they can't pick up up the first down without getting it into the end zone2 free snap motion quarterback trying to get a [Applause] read and the pass is incomplete thanks to a big hit not many receivers like to get hit they just don't okay they're padas that's what they are that's who they are nice job by the defender you could tell he was catching the football he was going to put a hit on him to make sure he had to think about something later and you could see the ball pop out and fall and that's a really good example of a quarterback and his intended target both being on the same page the timing was almost perfect on that play that's why they were able to convert the third down now setting up first and goal a first down run in the Red Zone he'll be brought down at the 5 yd line and this defense is on it heels now the offense tries to punch it in on second and goal [Applause] blue 42 blue 42 he'll run it up the middle trying to pick its way to the end zone he steps and powers and works his way they finally get him down at the two they'll use a timeout right before halftime maybe time for one or two more plays time dwindling away as they try to put points on the board right before the [Applause] half turning to the running game here on Third and goal and he takes it in for the score touchdown blls effective offense leading the way here and establishing this lead and that's how you draw it up right you want to come out be clicking early get everything going when to get all the facets rolled the defense right now on their heels they have no answers the off doing whatever they want he'll bring it out it's Sim didn't find any crease in that kickoff coverage and he'll be stopped at the 17 under a minute to play here in the first half and the offense will take a knee and that is how we'll wrap up the first half we've played two quarters here time to go to Kevin Connors in our halim update we ready to get it started here in the second half number to kick it off no return coming he'll call for the fair catch South Bo are ready to send the offense back onto the field this offense has really been clicking in the game so far Jesse no doubt everything their play caller is dialing up these guys offensively have been able to go out and execute yeah and it's just maintaining the lead keep doing what you've been doing you got a big lead let's just keep piling it on until they find an answer after the productive first down play it's second and six keeps it on the boot leg he'll pull it down and run he gets the job done picking up the first down then getting down and because of this guy's athleticism you've got to find so many creative ways to let him carry the football you'll see it on Zone reads you'll see it on draws designed runs how about the oldfashioned bootleg though let him use his speed out on the perimeter to the right and he sets off a huge game and the physical play there forces the incompletion on first [Applause] down right couldn't make the connection last time let's see if they throw it [Applause] again to the ground with the back just a one yd gain leaves him with third and nine if they can convert here that type of play can really give you a shot of [Applause] momentum Brown wants to pass fires left got his man and he's knocked down immediately but not before he moves the chains well I think on that play you saw why this guy's such a big weapon in this offense that receiver he does such a nice job with his routes he's patient and he's consistent and he's got good hands you don't see him put a lot of balls on the ground nice job there picking up the first down no give give it to the back they bring him down and he's going to lose a yard on that one how about the defender being a heat seeking missile he was on radar lock he found the football and flew down with some bad [Applause] intentions they go to the ground and a nice solid pick up there before the defense wrestles him to the ground well this offense came into the game knowing they wanted to be physical they wanted to establish the line of scrimmage and they're running downhill right at this defense and they're turning out positive yardage early they've started a pretty good drive this will be the seventh play but they need to convert third and five from the gun wants to pass the junior quarterback frustrated with himself after throwing it behind his man got to give the defense credit on that play taking everything away forcing the incompletion now it's decision time fourth and short in your in field goal range what do you do here no good missed the field goal missed a chance to make it a three possession game but still a 14-point lead guys State Z guys we'll get another look at this Kennesaw State offense the give to the running back from the shotgun you want to make sure to maximize those types of runs and he gets it out to the 41 brings up second down halfway there on first down it's second and five secondary walks up on the line showing press coverage from the gun give on the inside a run up the middle is stuck for no game great job it contained by this defense and in order to do that the end man on the line of scrimmage defensively has got to be able to set the point and force the football back into traffic and that's exactly what happened l on third down going up top and here's a fumble way behind the line the D Scoops it up and everybody reverses field and they'll get him down after a solid return and the defense able to get pressure to the quarterback and they've got everybody trying to swipe at the football the impact on the hit sometimes jars the ball loose great job with the pass rush and a better job forcing a turnover they'll rip off eight on that play it's second and two listen you got to be able to know what play to call and what hole will go through like the line blocks for a certain hole good job getting through the hole getting what was blocked getting a nice positive gain making your situation really good on the next [Applause] down wide receiver now comes in motion they'll run it from the gun so close to that end zone he could almost taste it but it'll be first and goal for this offense and I don't care if I get it by two by 20 by 30 by 40 I just I just want to get the first down understanding the situation understanding where the sticks are doesn't have to be sexy but I got to make sure I get to that stick get to the first down Mark he's got it down to the one yd line right on the doorstep of Peter you know I really like this QB running the football because I know he's got a lot of speed but he's not the biggest guy in the world so he's not going to be able to break a lot of tackles you really got to do a good job of trying to scheme ways to get him out more wedges pushes and he's over and in for the touchdown these guys are really hitting their stride in week four as they push out that lead the offense did exactly what it needed to do getting the ball in field position like that it's that killer mentality you step on their throat you keep your foot down when you get opportunities like that they are golden chances to put touchdowns on the board the offense took care of business bringing it out I know he thinks he can house every return but sometimes you just have to take a knee as he stopped at the 14 guys we're about to see this kenas state offense go back to work trailing by three touchdowns if you're going to get back in it David the time to start is right now got to start now defense giving up points on that last possession again the offense is going to have to score and Jess probably scored pretty quick yeah you got to go Tempo you're going to have to try to fit in as many plays as you can throughout the rest of this game but I think more than that you got to eliminate the negative plays no more penalties and no more turnovers on second down he'll fire pocket starts to collapse and he is snowed under sacked at the seven we've seen this offense struggled early in this game protecting the quarterback they went in at halftime thought they had made the right adjustments but but it's not looking like it right now they're still having issues keeping this guy standing up straight up front they're just getting beat across the board on Third and long doesn't need to take the check down blasted as he lets it go that passes well off Target he got hit as he was trying to throw and they can't convert on third down yeah and unfortunately this guy's been beat like a drum he's been hit sacked a bunch of times already and another hit right here I'm I'm I'm literally looking at my offensive line and be like dude I need some more time you got to protect me better than this give me a chance to complete some passes and what a game-changing play right there because it looks like he's going to flip the field with a really good punt return but then he coughs it up and just like that the offense is back on the field give to the running back he rumbles ahead for six inside the 30 to the 28 yd line you want to talk about making it easy for an offensive coordinator you pick up a bunch of yards on first down make that second down really really manageable that's a great job by the offense leaves it with the running back and the Bulls get it past the sticks you got to have short area quickness that running back there doing what it takes to make sure he got that first down it's now first and 10 from the 24 yd line here we go leaves it with the back I like this guy as a running back because he can run between the tackles and he can also go outside he can really do it all got six on first down now a lot of options on second and four they'll keep it on the the ground breaks the tackle and maybe they want to try somewhere else because there is nothing doing in the middle of this defense well this defense obviously knows they have to be able to stop the run now in the second half if they're going to win this game and you wonder if they were able to make some tweaks and some adjustments at halftime maybe getting some more bodies close to the line of scrimmage to give themselves a chance to come back in this [Applause] game the of the third qu the score 21 a third down play to open up this quarter going to the ground they tried to go Smashmouth on Third and short and it did not work against this defense and they'll send the field goal team back out for the second time tonight it is is true as he puts three on the board and that lead grows even bigger they're really starting to extend that lead as they get ready to kick it away again fielded In The End Zone it's Sims that's the kind of mistake that throws off your game plan come out of the end zone and you're stopped at the eight guys we'll get another look at this Ken State offense the last time we saw this offense we had to look quick it was a three and out Jesse he just had no rhythm in that last drive so someone's going to have to step up and make a play David and get this thing going yeah let's find some juice find your guy find those plays that you know you can run inside out forward backwards get some first downs get some positive momentum second and 10 here he's looking to throw quick strike complete and they'll stop him just short of the first down just inches away from moving the sticks listen running backs are not just running backs anymore you're going to be a wide receiver in today's football and a great job sneaking out of the back field getting the football letting them get some positive yards he looks that one in nicely they make the stop but there is a flag on the field we'll see what that's all about they'll decline that penalty obviously very happy with results of the play offense set on first down he wants to throw and the quarterback is sacked there are penalty Flags down but this might be doubly bad for the offense I think the penalty might be on that now on second down he's looking to throw he unleashes a long one and they wanted it all on that incomplete pass instead they're looking at third down and that's just the kind of game it's been for this quarterback in this offense you got a great game plan all week long you're watching it throughout practice you think you're going to have a chance to light up the scoreboard but they're just not able to hook up you got to give this defense a ton of credit they've done a great job in coverage they've been breaking on passes they've had their number and that's why they're leading by as much as they are Slants are very tough to cover but they become way tougher when you got a big body wide receiver like that it's almost like basketball where he's boxing you out he gets inside real quick uses that big body to Shield you off and even if you're playing manto man you just got to get him on the ground and try to disrupt him some way and that decision will be questioned for a while great spot to start this drive for the offense they'll ride the running back and leave it with him and they try the middle of this Stout defense and they rise to the challenge great job by the defense everybody firing off the ball hitting their guys holding their gaps running to the football nowhere to go got stuffed on first down it's second and 10 running back searching for a hole and this is exactly what you want to do when you're on offense you have the lead you want to chew the clock keep the ball in the ground keep that thing just ticking bmer they're just imposing the will dve and that's something that we've seen I think all game up front they've been the more physical team they're the ones that's getting push and that's getting movement and it's carrying over all the way here deep into the fourth quarter he get him down Tough Run picks up four they'll mark it at the 19 well they're going RPO nice job handing it off and really good Vision there just getting what he can get right puts his foot in the ground gets forward helps this offense find positive yards the give to the back this guy's been running hard all game long in the fourth quarter now at that last run he's now at 99 yds rushing one more carry away from potentially reaching that 100 yd Milestone that all running backs covet it'll be a run on Third and short yeah third and one you know what time it is it's about the big boys up
