IT'S UNFAMILIAR TERRITORY FOR DONALD TRUMP OR HE IS NOT IN THE HEADLIGHTS. I WATCHED THE INTERVIEW YOU DID WITH ABBY PHILLIP WHEN SHE WAS HERE, YOU PREDICTED THIS. I DON'T KNOW IF YOU REMEMBER THIS BUT I DID MY RESEARCH AND YOU PREDICTED THAT IF HARRIS BECAME THE NOMINEE, THAT THERE WOULD BE A LOT OF ENTHUSIASM BEHIND HER. THAT DONALD TRUMP WOULD NOT BE ABLE TO BREAK INTO THE HEADLINES AND THAT'S WHERE HE IS RIGHT NOW. >> Stephen: RIGHT, HE'S ALWAYS BEEN ABLE TO GRAB A NEW CYCLE AND HE CAN'T. HE'S TRIED A COUPLE CRAZY STATEMENTS LATELY. BUT PEOPLE ARE MUCH MORE EXCITED ABOUT WHAT'S HAPPENING ON THE DEMOCRATIC TICKET. >> Kaitlan: HE IS SEEING SOMEONE WITH ENTHUSIASM AND CROWDS, IT'S REALLY UPSET HIM IN A WAY, I HAVE COVERED HIM FOR A VERY LONG TIME. I TALKED TO A LOT OF PEOPLE WHO SPEAK TO HIM REGULARLY. HE DOESN'T KNOW REALLY HOW TO DEAL WITH IT. MAYBE HE'LL FIGURE IT OUT AND HIS ADVISORS ARE CONFIDENT HE WILL. BUT IT'S BEEN A STRUGGLE FOR HI HIM. SO SENATOR VANCE HAS BEEN OUT THERE. HE HAD MULTIPLE INTERVIEWS YESTERDAY ON THE SUNDAY SHOWS. ANSWERING QUESTIONS MORE ABOUT HIS OWN PAST REMARKS THAN REALLY ANYTHING WITH THEY ARE DOING A CONCERT POLICY WHICH THEY'D RATHER BE TALKING ABOUT. THERE WAS A QUOTE IN "THE NEW YORK TIMES" THAT TRUMP TOLD DONORS "THEY ARE NOT CALLING ME WEIRD. THEY ARE CALLING J.D. VANCE WEIRD." >> Stephen: HE'S ALWAYS GOT YOUR BACK. ALWAYS GOT YOUR BACK. SO HE CAN FIND IT. AS SOMEONE WHO HAS REPORTED ON Trumps Playbook TRUMP SO MUCH, FOR THOSE OF US WHO ARE OBSERVERS, WHAT IS IT YOU HAVE TO GIVE IN MIND WHEN YOU'RE COVERING TRUMP? WATCHING WHAT HE SAID ABOUT HARRIS, QUESTIONING HER RACE AT HER IDENTITY AND IT'S COMPLETELY PROTECTABLE. AND IS FAMILIAR TO HIM.
