[Applause] [Music] KSU Stadium located in the heart of the sunflower state is the site for this college football contest and now the coin toss and it's presented by Nissan Innovation that [Applause] excites both teams are on the field and we're just about ready to open things up he really got a hold of that kick this one's going to be down in the end zone for a Touchback the quarterback leads the team out on the field for the first drive man left man [Applause] left and a nice catch there before he stepped out of bounds he looked pretty cool back there even with the outside linebacker blitzing he made an accurate throw and the result is a new set of downs [Applause] from their own 41 yd line first [Applause] down tackle made around the 39 yd line and the linebacker comes up and makes a big stop this is textbook this is how you're supposed to play against the [Applause] Run tight right tight right down three down hey watch number 33 now he tries to buy some time he might have gained a yard on that scramble one thing about this linebacker over the years that separates him from the rest are his instincts and ability to make the play that's a nice Tackle by the senior third down now and they need to get it inside the 493 let's go st's inbounds to make a nice catch not a real fancy play here just a smartly run route good protection and a well-placed ball most times you don't need much more than that easy easy easy easy he makes his way to about the 38 they go with a run and that'll be a gain of nine that BRS up [Applause] short yardage situation here it's second down and one 33 get thatter ready and he's tackled around the 38 yd line no gain on the play that'll make it third and one let's get this get this hey check 33 check 33 grabs a pitch looking for the corner he fights forward to about the 36 third down has been the charm on this drive now it's been all about execution when it comes to calling the right play at the right time they've been able to do it here first down 10 to go ball on the [Music] [Applause] 36 he's tackled had about the 27 yd line number 14 with the tackle at the 27 yd line and this is the ninth play of the current drive down down hey check 33 [Applause] check3 laterals back and he gets a yard on the run and there's not much he could do to get away from the junior safety on that play that'll bring up so far this drive the defense has been unable to stop them on third down down down 33 33 he makes his way out to about the 12 and a big run on third down anytime you can move the ball like this you're putting a lot of pressure on that defense and this is the 11th play of the current Drive [Applause] straight run nothing going on there no game too easy too easy that makes it second and 10 second and 10 ball on the 12 yd line down down 33 33 run run he gets another carry and he's taken down right around the 16 yd line that's a loss of four yards on the play that brings up third and 14 play 13 of the current drive here we go here we go tie right tie right down down here we go [Applause] it rifles it over the middle row complete touchdown hold everything folks there's a marker down let's get the call awesome you got to be careful to avoid these penalties are a great way to stall out a drive fourth down and a ways to go after the penalty Kansas state is looking to go up by three kicks up and it sails through the [Applause] upright looks like they're ready for the kick deep he'll take it from the two he's to the 20 that go made at the 25 wild cats and their ground games always been Sensational it's not always one guy hery sometimes they've got two or three that can carry the low and that's what makes it so tough for this defense is you're not focusing in on just one guy you're focusing in on really an entire scheme and because of that diversity I think it makes it more of a challenge and you got to be better tacklers in the open field and and I think that's really what they've stressed all week is tackling and gang tackling and getting to the football hard to get to guys and make tackles in space number 98 at the 20 ydd line that'll bring up second and [Music] [Applause] 15 from their own 20 yd line Second [Applause] down they'll run it good outside run there BRS down call it a gain of seven y third down throws this one out to the right the junior makes the catch he gets hit out of bounds around the 42 yard line that was more than enough to pick up the first down next time this defense will be playing on their heels che che quick throw out to the receivers he's tackled in the open field number 15 makes the tackle at the 37 yd line that'll make it second and [Applause] fourt makes it to the 27 he kept it himself and picked up a good looking first down great execution and a good decision there by the quarterback six six caught out of the open he's taken down at the 19 looks like we're going to have a good game on our hands after one Kansas State's got a three-point lead that makes it second and two we can only hope the second quarter is as good as the first Tight Ball Game folks check girls check girls check girls and a quick throw brought down at about the 11 number 12 on the tackle at the 11 yd lineone setone throws quick to the receiver and it falls incomplete good effort there by the receiver just not enough room for him to get a foot down in bounds here's play number 10 on the [Applause] [Music] drive he laterals the ball touchdown [Music] Arizona great call by the offensive coordinator Big Time play taking that ball all the way in maybe the defense wasn't expecting a [Applause] run and he converts the extra point a nine playay 75 yd drive and it results in a touchdown the kicker looks like he's ready to kick this one off and he got all of this one great kick and it goes into the end zone down for a Touchback with one quarter down I really haven't seen too much separation between these two squads might be neck and neck the whole [Applause] way and down he goes at the 28 yd line and the halfback carries for a pickup of three you're not going to be able to get by a sure tackler like this linebacker too often [Applause] second down and seven ball on the 28 yd line Che [Applause] 33 they'll bring him down around the 31 yd line that's a gain of three on the play that'll bring up third and four 33 33 slap slap tackle at about the 41 interception 31 first and 10 ball on the 41 first [Applause] down trying to set up a little screen gets it to his tail back and he's tackled in the open field number six H The Tackle at the 4 Y Line that'll bring up second and three down down 33 [Applause] 33 he's on the run and they make the stop at the 47 y Mak it it's first and 10 ball on the 47 yd line down easy easy easy easy [Applause] [Music] and he carries the ball for a nice gain that's a game seven on the play that'll make it second and four man left man left down we and he tackles him hard at the 40 yd line3 makes it third and three they need about three yards to get the first down here on third down Downy [Music] [Applause] Che throws it to the halfback on the screen he's hit and got away out of bounds around the 35 yd line Y this is the ninth play of this drive down three down sh 33 33 they'll knock him down for a loss the entire defense just collapsed on that run and got penetration into the back field nice job by the safety to clean up the mess two minutes left in the half down hey check 33 check [Applause] 33 quick pass tackle made at the 29 yd line number 53 The Tackle at the 29 yd line here's the 11th play of the drive down down 33 33 quick strike to the receiver and he's tackled at the 18 well they're living on the edge here a little bit but you know they're converting when they have to the wild cats will use their first time out of the half first and 10 ball on the 18 hey check 33 check 33 he scrambled very good tackle in space Kansas state will take their second time out of the half and this is the 13th play of this drive down 33 [Applause] 33 takes it up the middle for a nice run down gain of seven on the play that'll make it third and one well a familiar situation for the offense as they try to convert another third down they've converted three [Music] already touchdown K State [Applause] hold's go he just put his eyes on that end zone and ran with some real purpose [Applause] there trying to go up by three they'll kick the extra [Applause] point and he adds the extra [Applause] point everyone's all lined up and ready for the kickoff he just drills this one this one's going to be down in the end zone for a Touchback but this is a very competitive game just when you think one team has gained the advantage or the momentum the other team comes fighting back and it's going back and forth this is almost like a basketball game in a game that's this close you can't afford to waste possessions they'll line up with five wide [Music] [Applause] receivers under pressure they'll make the sack I think this defensive end is doing a great job of getting after the quarterback not only with the sack in this case but it seems like the entire game he's done a good job of creating pressure making this quarterback feel him and almost giving him happy feedback there he doesn't seem to be in Rhythm and almost seems to be throwing the football feeling the the pressure and almost creating nerves on the quarterback got his back but he can't hang on I like the idea here by the quarterback looking downfield and eventually finding the check down to the running back problem is the running back has got to be able to hold on to that football to be able to pick up some yards [Music] nice run and he's brought down wild cat they're going to have to call their third and final timeout they just kind of Spun their wheels here but credit to defense with not giving up any [Applause] ground and he's tackled the 38 yd line the quarterback did a really good job in the last Drive of finding his receivers in space and I bet he'll be looking to do the same thing again Kansas state has a three-point [Applause] lead he goes downtown oh boy almost intercepted we've played a half of David Pollock here completely locked in on that first half there is nothing and I mean nothing that is more important than turnovers now so far neither defense has been able to force one in this game but you never know when that opportunity is going to come up no and people look at turnovers and they assume that it's luck a lot of times but a lot of times it's preparation it's being able to know that when certain teams line up like South Carolina back in 2002 in a certain formation where it's Tucson open stud and they got three receivers to my side and I know it's a roll out pass as a defensive end I widened my stance a little bit came up field hit the quarterback as he was throwing it next thing you know the ref signals his hands up in the air and you get six points for him so you can definitely be prepared and that's how you force those turnovers David's ready to get back on that count get the remote get all the games dialed up to watch what's going on around the country time to get you back for your second half BR and Kirk ready to [Music] roll very close game now as we start the second half number 34 back to return he'll return it from the one brought down at the 23 yd line return pick up returned 22 y there's still plenty of time to keep running their offense as usual here I don't think they need to feel any anxiety about [Applause] trailing and they'll get him in the back field that's not what you hope for from your running game you're looking for some solid North and South progress you never want to give the defense a play like that to build their confidence it's second down now and 14 to go B on their own 19 he steps up right around the 26 yd line that's good for a gain of seven yards that makes it 37 Che here's a hand off and he's brought down right away loss of one on the play [Applause] they've got 10 guys up they're coming after the kick he makes it out to maybe the 43 yd line return for a gain of 11 yd the quarterback leads the offense back out onto the field as we get set to resume play Kansas State holds a field goal lead take motion motion motion motion pitches back makes it out to about the 43 from the 43 yd line it's first down first [Applause] down he makes it to the 42 yd line that's a gain of one on the play that brings up second and nerer down down 33 33 here's the halfback on the screen he's pushed out of bounds right around the 28 yd line from the 28 yd line first down he's tackled at the 31 tack for a Los y on the play that'll bring up second Larry Larry Larry mike check 33 33 here we go I now he's scrambling and he is drilled at the 27 that's a gain of four on the play that'll bring up third and eight third down now and they need to get it to the 18 let's go going be a long day [Applause] off stays in bounds and made a nice catch for y left left down down Kansas state is up by [Music] three and he gains around three on that keeper his safety did just a great job of reacting to the run and getting in there to make the [Applause] tackle from the 11 yd line it's second down here we go here we go tight right tight right [Applause] he gets out to about the N yd line that's a gain of two on the play third down and this is the ninth play of the current Drive the Wildcats running game really took a big hit their keyb went out earlier with the injury doesn't look like he's going to be able to come back today delivers to the halfback on the screen touchdown wild cats [Applause] I like how the quarterback the offensive line and the receivers made a concerted effort to get into the end [Applause] zone he's FL the upright with the extra [Applause] point looks like they're ready for the kick he sends this one deep he's to the 20 he makes it out to maybe the 23 yd line wild cats continue to get it done on the defensive side of the football yeah they've done a good job of building this lead and almost determined here to protect it let's see if they can hold on here for the rest rest to the way there's got to be some sense of urgency to this offense right now they don't have the luxury of wasting drives if they want to get back in the [Applause] [Music] game and he's taken down at the 32 reception number 19 on the tackle at the 32 yd line that brings up second and one and he just gets rid of it know when you feel pressure like that the worst thing you want to do is just to throw the ball into coverage he got away with one right there he's very fortunate next time he should just throw it away out of [Applause] bounds tackle after a decent run up the gut how we do that's how we on the defense through the air with a great passing attack on their last drive you can bet this defense made some adjustments on the sideline though I don't know if they can stop the passing attack but they need to at least be able to slow it down tack that is a Los of two y that'll bring up second and 12 second and 12 coming up here ball in the [Applause] 28 sets up a screen incomplete there was just no way anybody could catch up with that passer on the that brings up third and get off brought down at the 36 eight y that makes it fourth and four get on the ball get on the ball get on the ball here we go so with one quarter remaining Kansas State leads it 17-7 [Music] welcome back to the action here as we resume play here in quarter number [Applause] four and this one is a beauty tackle made at the 27 yd line return for a gain of seven yds good so now both teams come trotting back out onto the field Roger he makes it out to maybe the 29 yd line they'll bring him down at about the 35 number 46 with the tackle at the 35 yd l that'll bring up 3D and2 we go hey alert three alert three quick throw out to the receiver and he's level at the 45 yd line gain of 10 on the play first down Che you all hey alert three alert three quick out to his receiver he's knocked out of bounds around the 33 yd line excellent play as a quarterback found his receiver for a big game well give credit here to the receiver for finding that seam and coming up with a nice gain for the offense he's out of bounds around the 29 yd line gain of four on the play that brings up second and five che check six six fires out to his wide out tackle right around the 24 yd line that's a gain of five on the play that'll bring up third and inches and so it's another third down up coming [Applause] here and he carries the ball for a nice gameall carrier call it a gain of seven yards that makes it first and 10 down down we we I got run play and he'll lose yards and the halfbacks got nowhere to go woo I think everybody in the stadium felt that hit he really laid some Lumber [Applause] there from the 17 yd line Second down they come out out on an empty Back [Applause] Field steps out of bounds right around the 12 yd line call it y they spread the field in the gun with five wide receivers he's got it with room to run touchdown Wildcats [Applause] [Music] that was a big big score and it makes it a one possession game but we've still got a lot of football [Music] [Applause] left trying to get within a field goal they'll try the point after and he TS on the extra point a 10 playay 73 yd drive and it's it's good for seven points an amazing drive for this offense outstanding execution if you're the defense you've got to do something to try to change things up to get this quarterback out of s he'll take it from the two and down he goes at the 28 yd line 26 y so early in the fourth quarter in a very very tight football game and the game could hinge on this possession just under three to go in regulation and he's tackled in the open field first from their own 39 yd line first down 35 3 95 [Applause] setting up blockers the running backs got it on the screen and he's tackled at the 42 Arizona just H their first time out that'll make it second and seven second and seven ball on the 42 yd line get to that quickly pumbo loose ball the defense has [Applause] it they work hard and they got the turnover well this is what it's all about defense taking advantage of an opportunity they're pouncing on the loose ball tight ball game one possession but they've got an opportunity not only to score and take the lead but get the momentum going on their side he has some room makes it to the 34 makes the tackle that's good for a gain of 17 y Che hey there's a strike complete tackle made at about the 27 yd line gain of seven y that makes it second and two less than two minutes in the fourth [Applause] quarter dumps it complete to the halfback over the middle and down he goes at the 23 number 19 makes the tackle at the 23 yd line Che it first and B C all the way back he has some room and he's shoved Out of Bounds at about the 13 It's second down and they're about the length of the football from the first down marker here's an opening and they make the stop at the three gain of 10 yards that makes it first and goal and he came down with it what a catch wait a second they put the points on the board but they might have to take him down that penalty will move him back a bit yeah with so many young guys out there it's bound to happen occasionally right they're at the Eight Second down there five wide receivers split out the quarterback in the [Applause] gun nice run up the middle gain on the play that makes it third and goal he's in touchdown and they take the lead well the offense certainly did their job they've extended their lead here in the fourth quarter and now they look at their defensive counterparts and say hey guys it's your [Applause] turn he makes the pat a seven playay 52 yd drive and they put up seven points the score now 2117 they line up to kick this one away it's fielded at the two he's to the 20 and he's taken down at the 23y line the Finish Line's in sight let's see who wants this one more well everything is out the window now it's crunch time they have less than a minute to drive the ball downfield and get the ball into the end zone they'll spread the field with five wide he's to the 40 and it's caught he's tackled right around the 48 yd line Kansas State's going to take their first time out of the half from the 48 yd line it's first down we have less than minute to [Applause] go and it's caught and he's brought down quickly Kansas state will take a timeout that's their second of the [Applause] [Music] [Applause] half it's a bad play overall by the offense the quarterback's doing everything he can to be able to make the play work and try to execute the problem is the offensive line did not do a good job protecting him they're very fortunate that ball wasn't [Music] intercepted got a man watch out [Applause] here the chance for another Kansas State first down let's [Applause] go pulls it in and that's a first down and he's taken down at the 13 y Liney easy that's good enough for another Kansas State [Applause] first hand off inside nice run and he's brought down easy easy easy easy brings up second and five spikes the ball spikes the ball this is the eighth play of this drive four TI four oh here we go [Applause] that's a huge huge stop here in the fourth quarter they've got the lead they're going to get the football back but they're still a lot of ball left so they're going to go for it here 33 33 come on baby see what you got needed that play and he dropped it it's always a gamble going for it with so many yards to come up with but when you're behind sometimes you have to take risks to get back into a ball game a conversion there could have really helped them but it just wasn't to be question now in a one possession game can they make it a two- possession game they've got a chance to put this thing out of reach Arizona is up by [Applause] four makes his way out to about the 15 the Wildcats using their the third and last [Applause] timeout we should just see the quarterback take a knee right here winding down the rest of this clock nothing more demoralizing for a defense than seeing the
