excites the UN UNLV has lined up for the kickoff and we're ready to get this one underway excellent kick he's to the 20 and he's taken down at the 23 pick off returns 23 yd so let's see what the offense can do as they come out onto the [Applause] field he's out of Bounds at the 29 yd line it's second down and four to go B on their own 29 second and four1 coming back [Applause] SP he's going to try and scramble he gets sacked on the play you can't take sacks like that as a quarterback you just can't if you can't find a receiver get out of the pocket and throw the ball [Applause] away hey we got TI right TI right down down watch 41 pulls down the catch and he's got room here and he's taken down at the 33 well they get all those yards but come up just shy of the first good play call almost perfect execution except for the fact that they're not going to get the first down it looks like they're going to go after this punt he gets out to about the 38 yd line now the offense gets ready to take their first crack at it right here he gets it out to about the 47 yd line very well-designed play that time to give them a first down the linemen executed their blocks nicely and it went for a good [Applause] game check check n he goes out of bounds right around the 44 yd line make [Applause] it throws to the receiver and he's got it again he made a really good move at the line of scrimmage sometimes all you need to do is throw off the defender's timing just a little bit at the start of the play Che three check three Che three oh and almost picked off you like a team that's ready to defend the pass it takes some preparation to get in the way of a pass like that second down 10 to go ball on the 35 yd line screen pass he's got his halfback he's tackled at the 24 nice pickup as they connect on the pass play but they look to be in sync right now they're both reading the defense properly and the result is a nice [Applause] game going for it all to the end zone the defense got some pressure and forced a bad pass I think they've been a little bit more aggressive here with their pass rush and that time it paid off with an incompletion from the 24 yd line Second down scrambling around and he's sacked man as an offensive lineman this is the worst thing that you want to see CU your quarterback not only getting sacked but getting hit like that those linemen better pick that quarterback up and start doing a better job of taking care [Music] [Music] of from the 28 yd line third [Applause] down tackle around the 17 yd [Applause] line unlb could take the lead with this field goal there was some movement on the line B start offense once you're set you've got to stay that way the slightest Flinch is going to be enough to draw the flag fourth down they'll line it up for the field goal the kick is up and it's puty [Applause] uprights number 11 the kicker looks look like he's ready to kick this one off from his own goal line he's to the 20 whoa he just took a lick UNLV is looking right now like they've got all three phases working for him so farker yep it's early but they are in control of this game the defense has seems to have a very good feel for what they're doing out there the offense move the ball down the field special teams everything right now is really in sync for this team [Applause] the senior makes the catch and he's tackled at the 33 yd line Y from their own 33 yd line first [Applause] down and they make the stop around the 46 yd line Che makes it first and [Music] 10 steps Out of Bounds at the 44 the quarterback and his receiver make a great play here and convert on an early down it's second down and they're about the length of the football from the first down [Applause] marker brought down the 47 yd line well the defensive line got such a good push up front that there was no one on the offense to account for the linebacker and he got through almost untouched TI right TI right down three down black five black pressured and brought down he just blew past the blockers and dragged the quarterback down excellent play by the defense here a few extra seconds and those receivers might have been [Applause] open this is a great punt blocking team and it looks like they're going to try to get to this [Applause] one and he's tackled at the 22 yd line the defense held him to three on their last possession pitching a shut out on this drive would be even better UNLV is up by [Applause] three got his man can't tack on any yardage four yards that makes it second and six watch watch The Run watch The Run here's a throw I don't think he got anything on that gain of [Applause] Y caught and up for the first down he's taken down around the 37 yd line number 33 on the tackle at the 37 yd line first down I got one I got one it's caught first down and he's out of bounds I'm really liking what I see from this guy he's not afraid to go to the air on any down let's go defense get out the field defense draw play taken down in the back field and the defensive end comes up with a big play boy he's quick as a cat no question he got tremendous penetration and was able to wrap him up for a loss there from their own 47 yd line it's second [Applause] down got it and brought down immediately T gain of six on the play Let's go get on the ball get on the ball get on the ball here we go Che throw incomplete wanted his receiver you got to give the receiver a chance to make the play that was just under thrown that'll make it four six he'll try to change the field position and especially not get to the end zone this one's going to be down in the end zone for a Touchback unlv's got a great defensive game plan and it's working right now well even from up here Brad you can see their defensive speed and they're just playing with kind of an aggressive attitude they're going to have to maintain that to slow down this offense you never like to have to play from behind but deficit this manageable shouldn't be in the front of their minds they just need to go out there and [Music] [Applause] play he's got his man across the middle tackle made the 39 yd line good job here by the receiver look the ball in and Ure he had possession that's the right way to catch a [Applause] pass from their own 39 yd line first down black five black [Applause] five with the pass incomplete we've played one first down 4 two kill [Music] kill zipped it out and that was almost picked off boy BR this guy drops an interception and what's ironic about that from going to the meetings the other day is that this guy's been telling the coaches he wants to play some wide receiver you wonder why you're not playing wide receiver cuz you can't catch the ball as a defensive back quick throw to the tight end they'll bring him down at about the 33 yd line that one goes for good yardage and a first down yeah that's just a nice gain on second down from the 33 yd line it's first [Music] [Applause] down quick shot to the open receiver and he can't hang on to the ball number 82 was the intended receiver on the play here's the eighth play of the series second and [Music] [Applause] [Music] 10 and he's tackled right away from the 22 yd line first down tight right tight right down down four fl's it and almost had it intercepted number eight the intended receiver on the play and this is the 10th play of The Drive down1 Red two orange three go throws complete he's hit right away and once again they'll come to the line try to convert on third [Music] [Applause] [Music] down caught it but they're going to lose yards he was tackled immediately that's a loss of three yards on play that makes it fourth and [Applause] eight the lineman got a little ahead of the snap count here's the call off FAL start offense it's so tough to move the ball forward even a fivey setback can do damage to a drive they'll call on the field goal unit here for this long field goal attempts Kansas is down three and looking to tie it up it's up and he splits the uprights that one looked like cake for this kid chalk up three points for the offense and this one's noted up at three and it looks like they're ready for the kickoff number 18 he's to the 20 he gets out to about the 25 yd line KCK off returns 24 yd they've been like a couple of Fighters feeling each other out so far let's see if they start to open it up a little bit more now and he is drilled at the 34 number 23 makes the T the 34 yd line that brings up second and [Applause] one makes it to the 47 carries the ball gain 1 first down hands off and not much room there as they try to work the left side on the play that makes it second and 10 makes a he's got nowhere to go that's aain of two on the play that'll bring up third and [Applause] eight and he's taken down around the 33 yd line call it a gain of 18 yd that makes it first and 10 and here's a quick throw and that one's incomplete and there wasn't anyone in the vicinity I think the ball just slipped down on him it's second and 10 ball on the [Applause] 33 quick strike and he drops it inet number eight the intended receiver on the play this is the play of this drive [Applause] thir deep ball laying it out there oh boy almost intercepted intend it looks like they're going to try for the long field goal unlb is looking to go up by three he gets it up and it's long enough and he Nails the long field [Applause] [Music] goal re they line up to kick this one away number 36 deep to return he'll return it from the three he makes it to the 25 yd line both offenses have played it pretty close to the best so far this one yeah because they've been so conservative it's made it pretty easy for both of these defenses to be pretty dominant let's see an offense open it up and take a few chances there hasn't been too much daylight between these two teams in games like this some players try to press too much and that can cause mistakes makes the catch and look out and he tackles him hard at the 36 move the chance for another Kanas first down we've got a first and 10 ball on the 3 6 yd line 4 41 black five [Music] [Applause] black he gets rid of this one good job here by the defense if you let this quarterback set and throw he'll kill you all game but they got excellent pressure on that [Applause] play now he's scrambling and he's going to be sacked The Defenders played the snap count perfectly he found the path into the back field and didn't let the quarterback get [Music] [Applause] away from their own 31 yd line it's third down Green mo mo mo and a quick throw he's tackled at the 33 a yard maybe two on the screen pass this was just a little dump off pass to the halfback but it was very well defended keeping them from moving the ball very far down [Applause] field he's taken down at the 30 every single time this offense has the ball they're moving the football football but they're settling for field goalss and every time they settle for field goals I've been watching the defense that they've been facing and watching how they run off the field to celebrate a job well done because they're not giving up touchdowns that's a bad [Applause] [Music] sign he's got it with room to run tackle at the 37 the rebels use their second timeout they need about three yds to get the first here on second down UNLV is up a field goal [Applause] strike to his receiver no good the ball just sailed on him and he knows it he'll get it next time play that makes it third and [Applause] three and they're not going to get it great stop J Hawks will use their first time out of the half 36 yd punt Out of Bounds at the 26 yd line momentum swings have been fairly even and with so little separation this game can be drastically changed on just one or two plays throwing left the j-hawks are going to call their second timeout from their own 46 yd line first down first down Green n green n [Applause] Go he gets sacked on the play man it's an offensive lineman this is the worst thing that you want to see is your quarterback not only getting sacked but getting hit like that those linemen better pick that quarterback up and start doing a better job at taking care of it scrambling around and he's sacked absolutely perfect call by the defensive coordinator he brought just the right amount of pressure from the right direction and it seemed to confuse the [Applause] offense third and long now after the sack left down down 41's coming 41 mik and two going deep it's knocked away incomplete we head into halftime with both offenses struggling the rebels with a three-point lead glad to have you with us in the studio for the EA Sports NCAA Football 14 halftime show presented by Nissan Innovation that excit Reese Davis and David Pollock here completely locked in on that first half the rebels have the advantage right now but not a ton of Separation in this game not as much as we might have anticipated but there were signs that there might be a little bigger Gap coming in the second half yeah it felt like they took the opponent's best punch and they were perfectly fine with it it felt like they had plenty more in the tank and I look to see in the second half them continuing to excert themselves they found some plays I think that they can come back to in the second half they're going to that are going to work I look for them to really open up this lead in the second half just about ready to start the second half we're going to watch all the games around the country including some coaches who like to sample the surface that they're playing on I I'll keep an eye on that yeah I'm going to go to cafeteria you want some Turf some astro turf or anything yeah they've got some chew on that in the second half here's the second half for you to chew on with Brad [Music] C boy I hope the second half's as good as the first just about set to start the third quarter in a tight one nice kick plenty of distance and it goes into the end zone down for a Touchback it's going to be interesting to see how the action shakes out in this series unlb holds a field goal lead catches it he's immediately tackle behind the line3 down for a l behind the line at the 24 yd line that'll bring up up second and 11 it's second and 11 ball on the [Applause] 24 here they come and he can't get away from the pressure [Applause] [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Applause] he Chucks it downfield he's picked it off this time it's the safety brought down at the [Applause] 40 that is exactly the kind of play you want to see from a safety he needs to be able to read the play and then make the [Music] interception from the 40 yd line it's first [Music] down he throws a dart to the right even though they didn't sack him the pressure was still enough to force a bad pass if you can get in there and disrupt the pocket and the quarterback is going to have a tougher time getting the ball to his Playmakers two just throws this one away third down now and they need to get it down to the 30 41's coming 41's Mike here we go here we go here we go delivers to the halfback on the screen knocked out of bounds around the 29 yd line that's a gain of 11 on the first left man left down down mik 41 mik [Applause] 41 he's at the 20 and they make the stop around the 11 yd line first and 10 ball on the 11 down two eight motion motion and he just gets rid of it I can't believe they let you play I can't believe they even let you play Black five black five he fights forward to about the 10 that's a gain of one on the play that'll make it third and n and this play is number eight on the drive hey let go it up 41 41 got a man open TouchDown [Applause] you got to give each of these guys credit for getting in sync really fighting to create that touchdown [Applause] and he adds the extra point a seven playay 40 yd drive and they add seven points to the scoreboard so our score 106 looks like they're ready for the kick he really got a hold of that kick this one's going to be down in the end zone for a Touchback Jayhawks continue to get it done on the defensive side of the football cir yeah they've done a good job of building this lead and almost determined here to protect it let's see if they can hold on here for the rest of the way the quarterback threw an interception on their last Drive let's see if they can be more successful here I look for the offense to come out with the same game plan as before you don't make changes after one play makes it out to about the 33 call it a gain of eight y that makes it second and two down might have been some early movement up front FAL start offense sometimes what happens on a fall start is a lineman will see on the other side of the ball and be coed in jumping early second down at seven coming up here ball in the [Applause] 28 he's to the 40 got a man watch out here and they push him out at the 44 yd line recep call it a gain of 28 y that makes it first in 10 mik 52 mik 52 theall throws to the receiver incomplete number six intended makes from the 44 yd line it's second [Applause] down got him but he's going to lose yards here [Applause] [Music] [Applause] makes the first down catch he goes out of bounds right around the 30 here we go first down right TI right down down three down no no no check that check right here che che che pulls it in and that's a first down and they fall on the loose ball man that is a tough break for the offense you connect with your wide out hoping to make a play and he winds up losing control of the ball man that hurts [Music] and the booth is going to take a few looks at this to see whether or not the ball came out before he was down so a big momentum shift could be in the making here as we take a look at the possible [Applause] fumble after review of the play the ruling on the field is reversed well after seeing the replay it was apparent that his knee was down before before he lost the ball yep those guys in the booth aren't perfect but they got it right this time from the 15 yd line first down they try to run up the middle but met in the back [Applause] field that'll bring up second and 12 [Applause] [Music] takes it up the middle for a nice run that was a good play by the halfback picked up about five yds on the option that makes it 37 they'll bring him down at the three yard line that's a gain of nine on the play that makes it first and goal he's taken down at the two yd line gain of one y that brings up second and goal switch switch switch touchdown Rebel [Applause] there are some guys when they get near the goal line they just have a knack for getting the ball into the end zone that's what we saw right there trying to go up by three they'll kick the extra point he splits the uprights with the extra point 11 UNLV get set to kick this one away sends it sailing downfield and he's taken down at the 19 yd line I love the competitive spirit that we're seeing out on this field today it looks like one team has the upper hand then the other comes right back in to be able to regain the lead it's going to be an exciting finish there's still plenty of time to keep running their offense as usual here I don't think they need to feel any anxiety about trailing he's going to try and scramble tackle made at the 33 yd line first [Music] down it's first and 10 ball on their own 33 41's coming 41's mik he gets rid of this one great job by the defense at getting after that quarterback and right now I think they've got him with some Happy Feet he appears to be a bit [Applause] rattled 41 and he throws it [Applause] away from their own 33 yd line third [Music] [Applause] [Music] down they bring the corner back Downes the quarterback loss of seven yd on the play that makes it fourth and long [Applause] tackle made at the 36 yd line return for a toing they moved the ball very effectively on their last Drive which ended with a touchdown the defense has been talking it over on the sideline trying to make some corrections let's see if they can stop him this time as long as this quarterback has time to throw and you can guarantee that he'll find the open man and he's tackled at the 50 quick throw out to the receiver that makes it first and 10 UNLV is up by [Applause] three he lets it Fly and he hauls it in deep downfield and he will [Applause] score what a strike for the score and he did a nice job of looking off his Defenders [Music] [Applause] [Music] and he converts the extra point is good the kicker looks like he's ready to kick this one off he'll take it from the two he's to the 20 they'll bring him down at the 26 y there's got to be some sense of urgency to this offense right now they don't have the luxury of wasting drives if they want to get back in the [Applause] game toss left and he's tackled for a loss and this is still anyone's ball game as we head into the final quarter of play unlv's got a 10-point lead [Applause] Back In This Very pivotal fourth quarter 4 M 41 and to X7 Quick Pass and down he goes at the 45 yd line what a throw for a big game that is a great example of the quarterback seeing the whole field and finding the guy who had the best chance of making a catch [Music] first down 10 yds to go ball on the [Music] 45 he's at the 40 he catches another tackle around the 38 yd line first down man left man left down down 41's coming 41 kill kill kill yellow green fires it out and he's taken down around the 31 yd line talking about baby 41 makes the tackle at the 31 yd line they're about four yds away here on second down 41 Mike 41 Green nine green nine X7 pressure coming slings it out there incomplete number 19 was the intended receiver on the play that'll bring up third and [Applause] [Music] [Applause] [Music] four and he stopped behind the line the back that's a loss of one yard fourth down it's fourth down and the offense is getting set to go for it 41's coming 41 Mike dog four hey kill kill kill black go quick shot to the tail back and threw his hands I think they had to go for it given the circumstances they just couldn't pull it off the offense just wasn't able to make a play the defense was really clutch right there both teams are well aware that a score on this drive is going to create an almost insurmountable lead this defense has really got to step it up and make a stop great pressure on the quarterback forc that incompletion boy they really pounded him on that throw second down 10 to go ball in the 32 [Applause] [Music] he's under some heat he's tackled around the 48 yd line nice play number 23 makes the tackle at the 48 yd line first down [Applause] 522 slings it touchdown unlb [Applause] nicely designed play to the wide receiver and it got him six you said it Brad in a good time to call it I tip my hat to the offensive coordinator boy that's a big play and a big touchdown for the offense but the one thing that that play requires is time the quarterback had time to make a decision to eventually make that long throw for the touchdown the defense has got to do a much better job of getting pressure on the quarterback and not not allowing him to sit back there and make those throws he sends this one deep and it goes into the end zone down for a Touchback for UNLV they've been coming after the quarterback all day long this is turning into a day that the offensive line wants to forget all the good plays from this defense has helped them into the lead the quarterback leads the offense back out onto thei field as we get set to resume play 41 [Applause] 41 fires out to his receiver and he's finally knocked out of Bounds at the 47 you know when a defense coordinator has this big a lead and he sees a defense give up a big play like this he's living he's very frustrated because that's a lack of focus from the defense they've been playing great all game and then they give up a big play like this they've got to play until the final wh makes the grab and he's got the first reception 2 first down do four green nine kill kill kill yellow go he's scrambling can this offense do anything to slow down this pass rush I think they need to make some adjustments with their pass protection maybe allow the backs to stay in the block because the quarterback is getting pounded back there from the 30 yd line it's second down just under three to go in [Applause] regulation brought down at the 12 another Kanas first down and two GRE [Applause] scrambling around and they make the stop the seven yd line a g of five yd that brings up second and five we've got a second and five ball on the seven yd [Applause] line and he just gets rid of [Music] it right right down down hey [Music] watch they'll bring him down at the one it's first down knocking on the door here it's first and goal inside the five [Applause] 20 and he throws it away even though they didn't sack him the pressure was still enough to force a bad pass if you can get in there and disrupt the pocket and the quarterback is going to have a tougher time getting the ball to his Playmakers this is the ninth play of this drive black five black touchdown Kansas that was a very good allaround effort the running the blocking the entire package a welld deserved score and he TS on the extra point a nice nine playay 74 yd drive and a touchdown as a result it's on the score now 2717 and down he goes to 39 yd line you n lv's dreams are a reality in this football game they've scored 21 points in a row taking the field again now is the offense and I got to tell you these guys have just been a defensive Nightmare on the past few drives well it's one thing to have speed it's another thing to have an idea of what you're doing and how to attack the defense and right now these wide receivers clearly have done a outstanding job in being able to make their reads and getting out of their breaks and the quarterback put the ball right on the money tight from the 26 yd line first down less than two minutes in the fourth [Applause] quarter again with a carry gets to about the 24 yd line Kansas will have one time out remaining that brings up second and N makes it to the 20 2 yd line about two yds there on that delayed handoff third down and they need to get it to the 15 the j-hawks using their third and last [Applause] timeout fires out to his wide out what a play to set him up with a first and goal he's up to 300 yd passing he's been able to get up and down the field all day today moving consistently and effectively you can see when he throws the ball well this team usually wins here he goes nice gain as he works the right side that's a gain of six on the play that brings up second and goal they're at the two second down we should just see the quarterback take a knee right here winding down the rest of this clock the offense lining up in a victory formation and he takes a knee Larry Larry Larry by 52 by 52 I got [Applause] it and this one's all but wrapped up with the final score 277 Rebel and the Kansas jwks so that wraps things up for us for
