COLLEGE FOOTBALL 25.. GT vs FSU

welcome everybody and we are fired up for another Sensational college football matchup nobody at home today who can stake their claim in this neutral sight Showdown today a couple of SEC teams get ready to square off in what ought to be an oldfashioned slobber knocker as we'll see the Georgia Tech Yellow seconds taking on the 11th ranked team in the land the Florida state seminal for EA Sports college football Reese Davis with you alongside David Pollock and Jesse Palmer and guys can't wait to get this one started the seols long long weight is coming to an end as they'll put a foot to it and the season will get underway he thought about bringing that out for a half second but he'll take a knee and they'll bring it to the 25 so the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets offense will take the first swing of the game and as we look out on the field here comes the man the man who makes it all go and that's this quarterback and he's big time that's why he's up for all these Awards he's he's known everybody knows exactly what he brings to the table he can run it he can throw it they're expecting a big day from this young play he finds his man at the 45 on his way nothing but green ahead the stop is made but this offense is threatening first and goal from the nine well after that last play you can see how electrifying this guy is and how special he is after he makes the catch if I'm on offense I'm trying to find a lot of ways to get him touches in this game they'll keep it on the ground for first and goal he's dropped behind the line of scrimmage that'll be a loss of three how about the defender being a heat seeking missile he was on radar Mark he found the football and flew down with some bad intentions makes the grab on the left and the tackle was made but there has been a flag throw interfer offense will wonders never cease if you're a defensive guy they called Pi on the offense this time and the D Deni them on second and goal tries again to get it in one step W Two Step squeeze this junior knows how to get him on the ground man that D tackle is a freak athlete did you see him come out of his stance to beat the offensive lineman getting to the running back catlike quickness on Third and long a check down would be the last resort and the defense a got him at the 27 great timing by the defense there obviously the offense has the ball in the Red Zone you're trying to create a negative play to back them up they do that with the sack and if they're now going to try a field goal it's going to be a little more work for the kick so they'll send out the field goal unit and they'll kick it from the left side a 44 yd drop splits the upright it's good and with that they break the seal on the scoring it's three nothing I know one thing this head coach does every week is he challenges his guys to start fast and it's so important today playing on the road in this kind of environment you saw a nice drive they didn't get the touchdown they would have loved but still taking that field goal and taking this early lead that's a statement for the visiting team so the Florida state seminal offense will take the field for the first time and you want to talk about dudes who can bring the heat off the edge David both of these teams have somebody that can do just that man so much fun they get off the Rock and they get in the back field and get to quarterbacks make them feel uncomfortable get them to the ground these guys change the way offenses are playing the game these offensive coordinators better help out their quarterback these guys need to be double teamed with tight ends and running backs you let these guys go oneon-one you're asking to get sa that is exactly what you're looking for when you talk explosive plays the defense finally able to make the stop perfect play call for that big gain to open the drive now here they come on First and 10 the give is to Williams and he'll run across the sidelines after the good game in a competitive conference like the SEC you just can't afford to start 0 and one if you want to chase a championship really important get off some good Stu no doubt in the SEC you've got to set the tone early it's all about creating momentum out of the gate both of these teams had this game circled all off seon David they know what's riding on the line there so much riding on the line who gets to Atlanta down the road uh bragging rights recruiting rights all this stuff once you get in conference play it means a lot every single week and the semal have it with a first and 10 they'll ride the hot hand they bring him down and he's going to lose a yard on that one they're trying to run the football there's just nowhere to go for the ball carrier inside he tried to bounce it to the outside that linebacker way too fast he met him there forc the TF easy looking downfield it's aangal on target he's really close to that first down marker but they stop him just a bit short nice completion here to this wide receiver and you're going to see this receiver line up in different spots all over the field all game long the defense has got to keep their eye on where this guy is because they know he's a big part of this offensive success wants to throw on third down and that's incomplete a Defender all over him knocked the ball to the ground fourth down coming up they'll try to get something out of this drive and kick the field goal here on fourth down third and short in college football today you see so much more pass than you used to the offense stays aggressive and I think they stay aggressive because they know they're in field goal range they got that three in their back pocket [Music] [Music] Georgia Tech has the ball back and here comes the Yellow Jacket offense they've got the lead here last time they settled for a field goal but David got to find that balance between being aggressive and careful and I think they'll take that I got the lead Palmer I got the football I got to take care of the football put a nice drive together and just get some kind of points on this drive no doubt lots to be happy about right now you're this team I think for this one though on this drive it's about finding the one-on-one matchups that are in your favor and then exploit him we'll give him a couple on that one second and eight coming up well the QB decided to keep it on that one and listen if you had his athleticism he'd want to keep it too almost every time they run these types of option plays but he's just going to have to do a good job of understanding when to hand it off when to pitch it and try to keep this defense on their heels and read his keys he's got a lot of talent he's got to make sure he's making the right decisions moving forward and the yellow jackets want to move quickly [Applause] he'll keep it himself he's dropped behind the line of scrimmage that'll be a loss of three and this is a defense that Prides themselves on their ability to go sideline to sideline it's going to be tough for this offense to go QB option in this game and you just saw the speed of the defense right there getting a big stop safe completion on the screen and he's able to bounce off one tackle for a solid pick up you know it's funny you know running backs often times are afterthoughts when it comes to the passing game but when you think about it this guy's been making people miss his entire life taking hand so why wouldn't you try to get him involved in nowhere to go with the ball and down he goes at the 39 just about the time the quarterback got the snap that dude was in his mustache quick fast and in a hurry in the back field got him to the ground before he could even think about getting the laces and trying to get the ball out of his hands fourth down and the punt team sends it the other way and that one will Sail Out of Bounds no chance for a return there guys we've reached the end of the quarter and Georgia Tech has the lead and we've come to the end of the first as we take a moment to check out the stats so [Music] far lots of time left and we're ready to get back to it and open the second period back at it to open the quarter with this first down [Applause] they'll crank up this drive with the pass got his man he will step out of bounds but not before the big pick up and a first down for this offense this guy hoping to join that long line of big Playmakers for Florida State whether it's Rashad green kez mccorvy or of course the great Peter Warr yeah finding those guys on the outside with game breaking speed that you can build your offense around that you know you can consistently throw the football get dope Campbell Stadium rocking get everybody excited about Florida State got some of the work done on first now let's see what they have on second [Applause] down they go to the ground the seminal will keep this drive going the injecting some attitude throwing the spear down and declaring they're going to run the football run the football be aggressive uh this is the part of the offense that remember it was a long time full State offensive line play wasn't good enough they got to get that physicality that run game if they want to be a great program again and it's caught inside the 30 he's running free down the middle and he'll take it to the house he got loose touchdown for the state man tight ends do so much for your offense they block like crazy you pull them you use them all over the place and when you got a guy that can do this it's just the cherry on top of the Sunday making big plays going half the field plus to get the big touchdown P unit on the field and the extra point is good and it's a fourpoint lead we check in with Kevin Connor what's going on Kevin fellas I think at least a of your audience will have an interest in the one that just finished up Texas A&M rolled to Victory flexing an offensive muscle that almost reminded folks of the record setting days of Johnny Football and Mike Evans gigum Aggies indeed it's one game you don't want to react too much either way but I think both teams will leave this one with some things to work on moving forward yeah how about that sounds as if they had a good ball game there Kevin thanks for the update out of the shotgun they go to the ground that keeps the running game churning pick up of five to the 23 I like this guy as a running back because he can run between the tackles and he can also go outside he can really do it all and off from the shotgun got room at the 35 to the 43 yd line and a first down for this offense the yellow jackets will hle line what perfect execution on that big run everything perfectly blocked and this guy doesn't need a lot of room I love how this offensive line communicates and works up front you see guys winning their one-on-one battles there's double teams happening guys are getting into the second level and creating big lanes for this running back how about that play to get a hand in there and force the incompletion that's one thing about this defense they've got some dudes in the back end that can cover they can hang with some of these intended targets nice job swatting that one some third down conversions tougher than others this one a long one on third down from the 43 right on the money to the outside he dragged the toe and how about the ball placement only the receiver could get well look that wasn't a touchdown that was a massive play for this offense they needed some momentum they needed to find a rhythm in what better way than converting on third down awesome job by the quarterback and that's a really nice route by the wide receiv receiver just understanding I got to win right now I got to get inside of that guy and I know I'm going to get contact you went over the middle of field on a slate we're going to get hit nice job securing the catch making the play crosses the 30 to the 29 before he stopped pick up a five on the play it's a first down and the yellow jackets come to the line with a new set of downs back to the air one more time and this will be incomplete a big hit there forces second down couldn't make the connection last time let's see if they throw it again he'll do it himself they almost got a first down there stopped the yard short it'll be third down and that's what I love about the QB Run game in this offense is it just keeps these defenses off bounds we're going to see a lot of running back doing their work between the tackles in this game as well but you see how mixing in the quarterback run too it just keeps this defense so confused and he found plenty of Running Room on that one before the defense was finally able to get him down he now has 53 yds rushing already here in the first half it's a season opener but he's in mid-season form wide receiver now comes in motion they'll use the running game on first and goal he'll be brought down at the 5 yd line and this defense is on its heels now the offense tries to punch it in on second and [Applause] goal and that defense gets to him and down he goes at the nine we just need better execution on offense right now not able to get it done on first down and now they give up the sack if you're the head coach now you might want to think about a timeout make sure your guys have their minds now it's third down now they ought to be able to get off one more play before the two-minute warning this is one of those momentum turning points if this defense can force a field goal attempt that is a victory for them and here comes the pressure and there he goes down again as two plays in a r now I think this quarterback's been a bit too down by the I know you want to throw a touchdown you want to make the Highlight type play but you got to be smart you got to know the situation got to throw the ball away if nobody's [Applause] open he splits to get right and puts three on the board so they're lining up to kick it off after that last Drive put a three spot on the board and now the defense will try to shut him down and he takes this from inside the five and he winds up right where he would have on the Touchback goes out of Bounds at the 25 the seol have it back they'll try to get that offensive spear flaming David they' love to do what they did last time and put this one in the end zone you ain't lying they did a great job the offense was clicking everything went well Palmer they executed and got the touchdown and they really were in a nice Rhythm as well I'd love to see that here on the next drive too just keep doing what you're doing everything seems to be working and you seem to have this defense on their F they didn't get the huge playoff of that but but I love the ability to show that and be able to show plays off of that that jet motion and just show them you're willing to complete it but you get those the M chunks at a time it doesn't have to always be a home run that's still a successful play and how about that DB getting a hand in there and forcing the incomplete pass well the receiver was double covered on that play and I don't know if the decision by the QB had to do with the pressure because he was hurried he just had to get rid of that faster than he wanted to he's lucky he didn't come away with an interception receivers telling the quarterback what they see back to pass it's aangal there were serious revolutions on that third down pass but it's incomplete and I like the aggressiveness on Third and short trying to throw the football take advantage of a look that they they got they weren't successful and now it's Fourth and short territory who knows what they're going to do fourth down and the punt team sends it the other way makes a nice grab at the 25 they make the stop but there is a penalty marker down let's see what the call the kicker defense so the decision has been made and the coach will take the penalty so the offense keeps this drive alive thanks to the roughing the punter penalty movement on the offensive line that's going to be a false start and they'll walk it back false start offense and the offense will accept the penalty and move the ball forward here's this offense with a fresh set of downs looking to throw setting up the screen guys out the back field now it's not just run the ball down anymore you got to be veral I got to be able to trust between the pass game and I got to be able to throw you the football you can do that right there I know you're going to catch it and I can defend On and Here comes the offense on second [Applause] down he's looking to throw fires to the wide out nice defensive way to get a hand in there and knock it away I know it wasn't an interception but a lot of times tips and deflections leads to interceptions great job by the defender getting his M on the football went up top on second down that leaves him needing a yard here on third down putting together a real scoring threat here as they pick up the first down at the 36 the offense waste no time getting the timeout call and the seminal come to the line with a fresh set of downs looking to throw it's to wangal and he just flat dropped it I think he wanted to run before he secured it frustrating cuz you know you're supposed to catch that you're supposed to secure it it's going to happen but it's just frustrating for those receivers just tap the chest my bad dog after the incompletion back to the passing game and he really needed to hold on to that one but it was not loose and third down is coming you know it's difficult for GB sometimes when you're throwing to your running backs because they're not receivers you really got to be perfect with the ball placement you got to make that a catchable throw a little bit too tough for the RB on that one the pass Falls incomplete and there are 8 seconds left nice job by the defense they're mixing up their look they're third and long in field goal range they go Zone coverage so everybody on the back end has the eye on the quarterback and they're able to break on the ball Force the [Applause] incompletion it is true as he puts three on the board well that kid just showed off hammer for a leg 50 plus and he did it with [Music] ease that late in the half field goal always gives you a little boost going to the locker room and they'll need to finish off these final few seconds and not allow them to answer let's see what he can do with the return and they'll bring him down to get the offense started on the next Drive they'll come out and take a knee and that should send us to halftime we played two quarters here time to go to Kevin Connors in our halftime update thanks phas the end of a very entertaining first two quarters of football and I get it a lot of coaches will say the difference between winning and losing comes down to stopping big plays and getting big plays but if you ask me it's more about how good you are on third down and how efficient you are in keeping drives alive those two stats can help you break the will of even the best defenses and help you come out on top either way it's time to find out back to the best in the biz for the start of this third quarter [Music] looks as if we're set to crank it up here in the second half here's the return from inside is 10 really disciplined job by the coverage unit to get down there and make the stop at the 19 guys here comes that Florida State offense back onto the field they got plenty done through the air in the first half and we'll see if they even need to look for balance as we start the third quarter well and I I think defensively you understand like the running game isn't a big part of the plan I wonder how they adjust and play more coverage to this pass happy offense yeah so you're going to have to be ready if you're a quarterback then you're probably going to see some different coverages you might see a little bit more Blitz in this second half as well so you have to know where your answers at the give to the tail back just working and poking and proding and finding his way up to the 36 coaches always harp about staying ahead of the chance and when you can run with that type of efficiency on first down man you are doing just that got six on first down now a lot of options on second and Four Leaves it with the back they wrestle him to the ground but he's got ready for a first down this is going to be a big key for him David with the weed here in the second half running the football right staying on the field and bleeding the clock yeah run the football you're ahead you can be a little bit more conservative but again this opens up the pass this keeps everything in balance for this offense they'll line up right at the 48 yd line on First and 10 using the quick gain they'll finally drag him down but not before he gets it to the 40 and it's a first down and Bobby Bowen built this program high flying offense is great quarterback play Innovation and that's what they hope they'll see on this play today yeah and it was year after year man he found so many Elite athletes such good recruiting in the State of Florida and when the simal get those guys man those teams fly well they pick up the first down there on the screen I love the offensive line there allowing the pass rush to get way up the field they completely baited their guys made them think that they got beaten that they were going to get the sack and then they sneak the running back SC right in behind them and pick up the first throws for the tight end grabbed in the middle it's Morlock he knew exactly where he wanted to go with that one and they've got enough for the first down the NS come to the line with a new set of downs a little PR snap eye candy for the defense grabbed behind the line it's toy Cris execution in the passing game and they've got it down to the three this defense is going to have to be careful not only do they have to worry about this guy running the football but they've got to keep their eye on him when he runs routes too he is a versatile back the give is to Williams he's knocked down in the back field he'll lose a couple there is nowhere to run and nowhere to hide on these situations you know the physical ground game comes into play inside the 5 yd line and they match the intensity nice job everybody flying around to the football making the tackle for nice job by this [Applause] defense they love to pick up this third down and get a fresh set with first and goal dropping back it's aanga lay that pass not close as he got drilled trying to to deliver it and it'll bring up fourth down and they're going to head out the lineup for a field goal good right down the Boulevard and for a quick update let's go to Kevin Conor in the studio guys right back to your game after we update the nation on this one Houston had an impressive showing at home today and I know the fans there in clutch City are ready for boops but pay attention to what's happening on the grid iron too people a lot to go through in the film session this week for both teams but boy it sure is going to be easier for the side that came away with the win and Kevin Conor is keeping an eye on everything all over the country sounds like they had a good one there the rambling wreck offense rolls back onto the field the drive starts from their own 25 yd line they'll run the RPO and Fire to the right they make the stop right there good pickup and still short of the first down good job reading the defense by the quarterback on that RPO field he waited to see how the defense was going to play the Run he saw Defenders bite up close to the line of scrimmage and right away he knew he had the slant throw right in behind still on his feet at the 45 and he breaks into the open a huge gain on that one before he ran out of bounds and he has the first down the yellow jackets want to pick up the tempo give to the back just a Savvy veteran productive run from this junior every offense wants to be able to run the ball and be phical especially on first down and you want to create second and short third and short or just get first downs like that run right there got it into the end zone touchdown yellow jackets getting set for the point a and the extra point was good no incident there and we are tied up in the third quick work on that scoring drive just four plays and they close the deal with the seveny for the score he'll Dar the return inside his five and the returner will be brought [Applause] down the seol have it back though try to get that offensive spear flaming always good to get points on a drive David but Chip Shot field goals can leave you a little empty yeah I think it's great to get points but the great teams get touchdowns in the red area you got to get out there this time and execute a little better on this drive you're absolutely right David generally the best Red Zone offenses are the ones that run the ball the best so let's see if they can be a little bit more physical on this ground and he was loose and in the open field and on his way a tremendous pick up on that one you open a drive like that in the entire Playbook opens up on first down from the 44 used the play fake now to throw blasted as he lets it go can't find his man as he took a shot trying to deliver that football and it'll be second down couldn't make the connection last time let's see if they throw it again quarterback reacting to what the D is showing off the play fake hit as he throws and the ball is intercepted and they'll drag him down after a good return on the interception not only a great play but tremendous discipline by this sophomore to make the PCH [Music] the Georgia Tech offense rolls back onto the field this could be a real turning point in the game they scored a touchdown they got a stop and now a chance to break the tie yeah this offense has got it cooking man and how about the defense great job getting that stop getting the football right back to the hot hand now this offense Palmer has a chance to take the lead you could see the offense too they understand the situation right now they were jonesing on the sidelines to get another opportunity to run back on the field they are ready to drive this ball and go scre it and how about the aggressiveness of this defense I love is don't let him get to the sideline kept the ball in the middle of the field went after the quarterback right away like some missiles and got him on the ground we reached the end of the third quarter and we have a potential Classic on our hands all tied up as we take a peek at the stats these two teams about to find out what they're made of as we open the fourth all tied up back on the field after the break and we'll start the quarter here on third down dropping back it's Kane coming out after and that pressure just engulfed him a sack for this defense well that Defender just was better in his one-on-one on the pass rush he does a great job being the offensive line to get to the and the yellow jackets will bring the punt team onto the field three and out and not much choice but to get rid of the ball he's able to pick his way for just a bit but he'll be stopped at the 18 good job by the punt team guys here comes that Florida State offense back onto the field after that last pick David they really need to take care of the ball this time no doubt and Palmer I want to know what spur said to you on the sideline after a pick do that again and you'll be right here beside me for the rest of the game you got to go out you got to call your plays and I hope this coaching staff isn't going to be afraid to throw at this drive that kind of pick up on first down and you can take a shot here on second and short now the quarterback changing the original play call off play action he LS it high and deep down the left side and that's going to be incomplete going for broke on second down but third Down's coming up this defense is heating up they got an interception in the last possession you can tell breaking on the football really really well seeing where the quarterback's throwing it going to try to get it got another hand on it almost had another in his own he gets it oh so close to the first down marker but I think he's going to be a touch short and the noes line up to punt it away getting our first look of the afternoon at the punter a fairly short distance here toward the sidelines not his best [Applause] work Georgia Tech has the ball back and here comes the Yellow Jacket offense boy three and out last time David they'd like to be more productive this this time around yeah in the last Drive nothing really click no rhythm got off the field really really quickly they need to put something together herey yeah David bad execution on that last drive so they got to take a collective breath and start playing like a unit small game I know but again the defense knows he's going to run the football he's willing to run the football not just drop back and pass make him on to the Run game you got to do a lot of this just a short pass to the tight end and the defense stops him short of the first down maybe needed a few more chain links to move the stairs well you hear all the time that the tight ends the QB's best friend you saw a perfect example of it on that last play right second down you need to pick up some positive yards to keep this third down manageable really nice job of executing that just never had a chance as they controlled the middle of the field and stopped him in the backfield on third down the yellow jackets will try to pin them back with the punt let's see if he can help the coverage team out with this one he'll bring it back it's Benson pretty solid coverage there and they'll stop him at the 26 the seol have it back they'll try to get that offensive spear flaming the last time we saw this offense we had to look quick it was a three and out Jesse he just had no ribon in that last drive so someone's going to have to step up and make a play David and get this thing going yeah let's find some juice find your guy find those plays that you know you can run inside out forward backwards get some first downs get some positive momentum this offensive line better figure out a plan for this D tackle he is tough to block with one guy you might want to start double teaming him he's going to be a problem moving forward you saw all of his ability on that last to the air it's aangal finds his tight end and he surges up to the 36 yd line and they'll move the chain ever since they invented the forward pass the tight end have been running the drag and getting the first down I think it's because the tight ends is so much versatility you know they can block and stay in the formation or they can release and come out but either way if the quarterback's patient most of the time that drag route's going to come over one back in the back field he gets to carry that's a really good job by the defense wrapping him up getting him on the ground take away that run game make them onedimensional put him in passing situations really good job by the defense after picking up a couple at second and eight quarterback will audible he's going to pass on second down nowhere to go and the ball is loose bounced right back to them well the offense is able to avoid disaster right there problem is they fumbled it but thankfully they were able to jump back on on and not have a turnover certain moments in the game you know we're just a little bit bigger here's one of the big play coming on Third and long looking to throw and he needs a bunch he lets it Fly he's got it down the right side off he goes touchdown and they grab the advantage taking the lead here in the four quarterback's abilities to read the field is huge and also the anticipation the timing to be able to throw the football Jesse and hit a guy in stride so he can get run after the catch and get in the end zone that was a nice job by the yeah it's critical David listen a lot of times touchdown passes aren't thrown into the end zone you got to read the coverage hit the open guy and let him do the rest and with that pass right there over 300 yard that's a good day at the office being able to execute doing a good job seeing what's coming anticipating taking some shots today but has H really strong put up some good numbers the rambling wreck offense rolls back onto the field last time David it was one two three kick yeah last drive that three and out sometimes that puts your defense in a bad spot and you got to get a drive together here so you don't wear the defense out I just think David too predictable that last Drive they got to do something here to get this defense on the fields got five wide outs spread across the field on second and five complete they immediately call timeout trying to preserve every second they can to try to rally here Le when you play zone coverage everybody drops back everybody has eyes on the quarterback you're not really looking at the wide receivers a lot of times so they can slip in those little cracks and the quarterback can really make precise throws great job great play great throw great game receiver looks it in it's complete they make the stop after the catch he's still some work to do to pick up that first down this offense has their work cut out for him man because the coverage has been so tight and if you're not throwing to the sideline or you're not getting past the sticks this defense is going to tackle you inbounds like they just did on that last play and bleed the clock trying to escape and get it himself Nifty little Scamper on this one for first down and he slides in safely sprinting to the line to try to get this one off CL running wants to throw it's Kane gets it out fast brought down at the 25 yd line G him 15 y on the pickup and this offense is threatening and that's just a great individual effort by the wide receiver he catches this ball way short of the sticks but because he's able to make the defender Miss now he's able to get get the extra yards and turn that into an explosive play they'll throw it on first down fires into traffic it's picked off they didn't give him much of a chance to make that play even bigger but the turnover has him set up at the 16 we've seen this defense make plays time and time again in this game they may have just sealed it with that take guys here comes that Florida State offense back onto the field and now see the art here is to find the balance between milking the clock and trying to get another scoore I think if you're the coaching staff too you like to see your team play its best in the fourth quarter right defense just did their job so offense now David has to go and handle their business yeah you got the momentum because of the defense they've given you some momentum they've given you a great opportunity to take hold of this game and really put a stamp on it they'll keep it on the ground they want this clock to move just a solid stop by this sophomore really nice job stopping the run but the problem is you have zero timeouts left you cannot stop the clock right now if you're the defense so this has got to be excruciating for them they know the offense is just going to take their time before they snap the ball running out the clock teams to be a mere formality here as they are ready to snap it in Victory formation and on fourth down they'll come up and take a knee it's one thing to execute early in the game tight ball game right at the end you need the clutch plays these guys deliver and you can't teach that gen you have people that that can focus in the moment or they can't great job by the team staying focused understanding it's a close battle win those one play at a time and then look up and then heck I got to win yeah David they just had ice in their veins and you can tell there's tremendous leadership on this football team guys can step up and in the Huddle they can make sure that everybody else is focused to the task at hand in order to get the W that's going to do it for us
