welcome folks to the E oldest stadium in the country bought heavy way home of the old missrebel for folks have been shouting hty totty since the very early hours today this is an important match up a battle of two top 10 teams two forces riding one team will leave here making a big statement as we'll see the number one team of the country the Georgia Bulldogs taking on the fifth ranked team the Old Miss Rebels 3A sports college football I'm Chris fer here in the booth with Kirk KB Street I think we've talked long enough Kirk let's get this game [Applause] going the rebels will kick this deep to get us [Applause] going Feld it just outside the goal line and he stopped at the 19 good job by the coverage [Applause] team the Bulldogs offense is up first today and as this quarterback takes the field eager to see how he plays today there's a certain gravity about him you can tell from the warm-up song the way the team responds and rallies around him can he come through on a big stage here yep this guy is their Superman and when that opening kickoff is kicked up into the air his cape goes on he sets everything into place gets the offense out of jams does it in pressure situations he's the arms and legs of this offensive system but also the heart of this team offense getting set it's second [Applause] down play action fake looking to throw pressure is coming able to throw it away he felt the heavy pressure took a hit and got rid of the football [Applause] there's a challenging third and eight now in this opening possession dropping back we're going to throw for the first down and he's looking to make a big play downfield he bring him down but that is a huge play for this passing game big game and Chris what getting settled into this game and already big plays Georgia getting set with a first and 10 now trying to find some room it's etn they get him down but the game moves the ball to the plus 40 boy great patience and acceleration to be able to pick up this first down by this back from Georgia you think of Georgia backs you think about Hershel Walker right away right Sunny Michelle Todd Gurley Nick chub noan Marino I mean Alis Go's on and on a great Georgia backs the dogs pick up enough for a first down it's a run running back's got it see that's how you limit what an offense wants to do this time the defense just won the battle up front of the line of scrimmage not giv up any big plays everybody's Gap sound it's really solid defense on that play offense getting set second down play here now run it here that's the running back with the ball in the clear at the 25 refusing to be brought down before gaining first down yardage well the scouting report on this running back was that he is an elite ball carrier and he is proving to be that here early in this game these first few carries not only the strength but the quickness and acceleration to get up field and get positive yards on [Applause] display looking to pass this time and the quarterback finds an open Target on the crossing rounde the game moves the football to the 6yd line it'll be first down and goal Chris how about the offensive balance these last couple plays we're seeing from these guys not only are they balanced but the explosiveness a big run followed up by a big play through the air man puts a lot of pressure on this defense and the Bulldogs line up with a first and goal it's a quarterback keeper and he runs it into the end zone touchdown dos like about a great way to start this game Kirk setting the tone very early yeah sometimes it takes an offense a couple drives to get comfortable you could tell this unit came onto the field locked in and focused no slow start at all for these [Music] guys so they'll try to add to the lead now with the p and the P makes it nothing open scoring now they get set to kick it [Applause] awayer looking to create better field position and theur brought down by the coverage team the rebels offense takes the field the first chance go ahead you see them today got a great match up today Kirk of elite Corners they put these guys on islands and they believe they can shut down anybody across one if you're going to have a great defense right now in college football you better be able to cover on the outside and these two teams happen to have the two the top corners in the game how much fun is this going to be to watch these guys today hey it's a great job of this defense containing the running game but if I'm calling the plays I'm not abandoning the running game just yet I think it's important to have some sense of balance so throwing and running is essential stick with it and now the handoff fights off a Defender he tackled just short of the 20yd line well they didn't bust that for a big play but it makes this third down coming up a little bit more manageable and that certainly has a lot of value the rebels will come to the line to run the hurry up dropping back it's D looking for his big tight end looks downfield and connects with a wide open wide receiver potentially a touchdown saving tackle but not before a long completion the defense is spread all over the field creating some one-on-one matchups and a quarterback makes them pay for it fresh set it down to the offense first down from the shotgun drops back that's caught it's Watkins they tackle him but the game moves the ball to 36 you know we talked this week with the offensive coordinator about what makes this receiver so special he kept referring to his route running here's an example of that great route enough separation to give the quarterback a nice Lane to throw the football and the rebels will have first and 10 here handoff from the shotgun finding some room at the 25 they bring him down but that's a solid gain on the Play Boy how about that play Chris that thing just opened up the back shot through there with great acceleration what a pick up there on first down this line getting set up it's a first down [Applause] play keep it on the ground there's the handoff they'll stop him behind the line for a loss of one Chris I think we all kind of get caught up in third down what what's an offense doing on third down but I think what's also important is how well do you def defend first down if you can hold your opponents to a short gain or a tackle for a loss you throw the offense out of whack and their game plan gets much more challenging to try to come up with that first down they tackle him behind the line a loss of four Chris textbook job by the defense surrounding the runner and preventing that play from being bounced to the outside seventh play of the Drive coming up but it is third down and long ball handed off powering through defense stops him short of the marker so now it's Fourth Down the offense has a big play here but they really put themselves in a hole on first and second down that's why they've needed to try to play catchup they get some great yards there on third down but it's still fourth down can they pick up the first so on fourth down decision is to try out the field goal team the kick is good he knocked it right down the middle snap the hold the kick everything there perfect to put three points up here for the offense [Music] [Music] following the field goal the kickoff team is out there now the Turner looking to make a play here return is brought down get to started on the next dri and the powerful Georgia offense is back out on the field remember last sent this would a touchdown can they keep clicking here or the defense come up with the stop but the defense this week all week telling us about Gap Integrity not getting this running back any PES at all really sound defense on that play second down after that run on the previous play dropping back it's F catch made on the out route defense surrounds him just a short gain on that completion def defenses all around the country got to do a better job at keeping an eye on these little guys from the slot they can dismantle a defense with their speed and quickness in the open space and it's a buch [Applause] [Music] formation well Kirk it's Georgia on top so far let's check out the stats now through the opening period plenty of time for some plot twists here as we begin the second quarter offense get set up here it's third down dropping back we going to throw for the first down Falls incomplete broken up by the defender nicely that time well Chris I can tell you as a quarterback there's nothing more frustrating than a big defensive lineman who's good at squatting the ball because if they don't do it often times you got an open receiver in a comption dos will bring their punt team onto the field that's the first punt of the afternoon for this offense here's the fair catch by The Return Man and the powerful Old Miss offense is back out on the field they settled for a field goal last time out let's see what they can do this time but go with the ground game here running back takes the hand off he sto it at the 49 but that'll be a first down look I realize on any play call and his prop executor they can go to the house for a touchdown but the runs that really make a game plan work are the ones where you get just what you need and he barely got the first down but he got it and the rebels will come to the line to crank up the [Applause] tempo hits the running back in the flat and he's shoved out of bounds for the defense short of the first down marker one thing I love about this bat is how he gets involved in the passing game nice catch here second down after that run on the previous play B handed off tackled but only after picking up a fresh set of downs sometimes owners get mesmerized watching these Runners who have great vision you know the eyes that carry their feet to the open space making people Miss I just love watching those guys do work the rebels with first and 10 [Applause] here back in motion now off the play fake on first down and he's going to fling it deep going for it all here oh and it's batted down by the defense great play to deny a touchdown CH that ball gets tipped and goes straight up into the air that's anybody's ball the defense does a really good job down in this area expecting the pass the ball's in the air ball gets tipped keep in mind the offense or the defense can get underneath that for a play the ball hits the ground for an incompletion at only a one yd gain so third and N coming up 39 yd third down coming up not going to be easy here backed up a long way to go for a first [Applause] down and now they'll run it on the draw tackled behind the line it's a loss of two the back just had no chance there the defense is all over the draw play to stop him behind the line yeah I don't know if they were tipped off or what but they weren't fooled at all you could tell the defense was dialed in knew exactly what was coming and made the tackle and the rebels will line up to punt it away looking to flip the field here it looks like no return here as that punt heads out of bounds and the Bulldogs offense is back out on the field they had to putt the ball last time now they're looking to add points build on this lead breaks loose at the 40 breaks into the clear it's a Sprint finally brought down after an explosive play for this offense big game man now that is a running back's tram I don't think the guy got touched until he got taken to the ground it's just excellent blocking there's nobody he had to make miss or use his stiff arm just a lot of open field first first int 10 play coming up looking to throw it's back close of the tight end makes the catch downfield stopped quickly at the 13 but here we are in the Red Zone yeah you know this defense has got to be frustrated after giving a multiple conversions now on first downs there's another one but for the offense me they're just playing very efficiently right now Georgia now operating in the red zone quarterback pulls the ball it's a keeper and the tackle is made after a four yd gain so second and six if you're going to run the read option you're going to have to keep your eye on that defensive end if he collapses down inside to the running back then you pull it and take it yourself as a quarterback to the outside now if he stays outside you're going to go ahead and leave it in the running back's belly in this case he pulled it and got some good yards himself pass po can he get in can't get to the end zone they'll spot the ball at the two great execution on the RPO quarterback does a nice job as he's putting the ball into the belly of the back making sure to read his key this defense was determined they came up to stop the run quarterback saw it pulled it out hit the quick slant right behind it for some great yards they'll try to run it in on first and goal and he runs it in for the score touchdown Bulldogs Bo as a defense a coordinator you got to be careful being so worried about this pass game and this quarterback that you're a little bit soft up front and it cost you it's exactly what happened here as they score this touchdown see if they can convert the point after for the extra point the p is good so it's a 143 lead that makes the score Georgia 14 kickoff team is on the field let's see if they give the returner a chance to bring this one back fielded In The End Zone it's Bentley solid coverage there they get him at the 15 that's where the offense will take over and the rebels offense back out on the field last time they were forced to punt it away can they get points out of this possession the gain is four so it's second and six hat on a hat up front good job opening up the holes anytime you can get positive yards on first down that's a win here's that defense shifting again and the rebels will crank up the [Applause] tempo movement here from the tight end there's the handoff breaks the tackle to get back to line of scrimmage but that's it Bo this defense is strong up front linebackers are flying downhill able to make plays against this run game now they get this offense to another third down now you pressure that quarterback and try to build on the lead third down play for this offense it's a throw it's dark and he's going to float this one to the right side that's incomplete they weren't afraid to let it fly but it brings up a fourth down well Chris the offense takes a shot down field and this Defender does a great job of making a play on the ball not only that he tips that ball up into the air good chance for the defense to come up with an interception there the rebels will have to kick this away Mone he comes for his second pun of the game he's got some daylight turning on the speed and the coverage scene gets the returner to the ground and the Georgia offense is back out on the field they reach the end zone the last time out trying to do the same thing here first down looking to throw the football it's complete what a grab near the sideline and a big game before he goes out of bounds the offense keeps churning gets a fresh set of downs just hold on a second the replay official has signaled that he wants to have another look at this play looks like they got the ruling on the field right the first time they confirm it with the view they're moving the receiver now before the snap quick throw to his receiver and this his drop would have been a huge game but he could not collect it what a hit there by the defender tough for the receiver hold on to the football when he has that kind of contact good clean play by the defense and completion makes it second and 10 looking for a gap it's etn the pickup is four sets up a third and six now Chris is the consistency of this back is giving this defense fits they've got to come up with some changes up front this guy's already over 50 yards and if he keeps running the way he is not only is he having a great day it's going to give this quarterback a chance to hit some big plays down field off play action important third down play coming up dropping back looking to throw for the first down that one is incomplete the defender way right there and it brings up fourth down now hey the good news is here Chris they're still in field goal range and they didn't cost themselves any points but they could have more got to be thinking about going for this on Fourth and short so here on fourth down out comes the field goal team this one is right through and that will extend their lead even further now Chris it's a nice kick here to polish off that drive with at least three points up on the board [Applause] They Come Away with three points on the drive and now the kickoff team will Boot It Away return starts from inside the five and he stopped at the 20 tried to make something happen but that's good coverage there and the rebels offense is back out on the field time is running out before halftime they cut into this now two possession lead short connection to the tight end here and the defense swarms not much of a gain on that completion well that's pretty good coverage here by this defense not much of a window to throw this ball into but the quarterback's accuracy and the size of the tight end picks up a nice game they'll crank up the tempo here with the clock ticking down second down looking down field it's dark he's running out of time here they've got him it's a sack for the def time out is called by the defense that's their first of the half well that's the one thing about a guy that always feels that he can rely on his legs he's always trying to make a play and this time he just wasn't able to get away from the defense and that is a big loss for the alers picks up about five yards but it's not enough here comes a fourth down now and now the defense will call a timeout here to make an adjustment on their side before this crucial play and the rebels will send pun te him onto the field and The Return Man decides a signal fair catch first down play call coming up how aggressive will it be look him out throwing here to start the drive makes a quick grab they make the stop but not before a solid gain that time man where's the scatter report for this defense you knew coming into this game this tight end was capable that's his fifth catch in this first first half see what the call is on First and 10 from the shotgun drops back looking for an open man grab down the middle it's love it they make the tackle but that's an excellent game moves the ball to the 33 this offense is clicking and clearly everything seems to be working coordinators calling good plays the quarterback and the rest of his receivers and running backs are executing and frankly this defense is showing almost no resistance first down looking to throw the ball grab near the sticks it's Thomas tackle made at the 21 this offense in great scoring position now man Chris everything seems to be clicking for this offense and if they can keep this up through all four quarters it could get really ugly by the fourth Georgia setting up for the first and 10 now offense moving receivers around now before the snap to the air it's back makes a quick catch they get him down pretty quickly but it's a solid gain in that short throw so a timeout is called to talk strategy maybe time for one or two more plays before go halftime so on second down they try out the field goal yet trying to get three before halftime [Applause] that one straight down the middle and they add to their lead I was watching this guy in pregame he has got a strong leg I'm surprised here he's able to put three points up here for the offense [Applause] [Applause] so here's the kickoff now offense settling for three tacking on a little bit of momentum before the halftime break return begins inside the 10 he'll be brought down and that will wrap up the first half of play and that will do it for the first half here Kevin Connors now has our halftime update all right thanks guys had yourselves a superb broadcast so far in Oxford today talk about a first half from that dude out of the back field he's been a total Game Changer and how many top playe moments have we seen on missed tackles Alone video game moves from one of the shiftiest players in all of college football and on that note time to throw it back to our guys at the stadium [Music] the Bulldogs will kick this away to get the second half going and it's field and returner trying to create good field position here and the return will be brought down and the old Miss offense is back out on the field first play of the third quarter is a hand off that's a nice tackle there by the senior Christino his spread era over the years has always grown offensively I've been always impressive with the defenses that really build their defense to play in space still have an ability to be sound at the line of scrimmage and defend a running game it's exactly what we saw right there and the tailbacks got it again finds room at the 30 that's a big game before he goes out of bounds it'll move the sticks more than enough for a first down anytime you're down at halftime you get your minds together you try to make some adjustments you try to get things heading in a better Direction This offense is off to a great start after this play right here and the rebels come to the line to run the hurry up off the play fake looking to throw on first down let's him fly out of the wide out here's a wideopen receiver complete they finally tackle him at the four that's a solid gain on the pitch and catch the key with these Crossing routes is making sure the quarterback has enough time to put the ball accurate on the receiver here he puts it right on his numbers allowing him to be able to pick up a lot of yards after the catch here we go first and goal a touchdown here gets him right back into this game looking to throw it's Dart and he's got it touchdown oh miss that's a crucial score let's see if they can build momentum and complete this comeback well I know there trailing but that score is a great first step in trying to break down this lead you don't want to leave it all to the fourth quarter when the pressure really intensifies and you have limited [Music] time kicking team on now for the extra point on for the exra point PC is good they still Trail [Music] though here's the kickoff team let's see if they give the return an opportunity to bring this back Ki it off bringing it out it's Bell and he's stopped at the 18 returner trying to make a play but a touch back would have been a better idea and the powerful Georgia offense is back out on the field they're trying to build this lead here had to settle for three last time out goes backwards losing three yards there I don't think the offensive line gave the back much of a chance at all now give credit to the defense it was almost like they were anticipating a run and got up close to the line of scrimmage in a hurry they got some ground to make up second and long from the 15 quarterback sets up looking for an open man and it's the senior getting home with the sack I'll say this this defense went in at halftime made some adjustments and they look like a different group here in these first few plays [Music] well a serious challenge for this offense you don't want to be in third and long inside your own 20 how much of a risk will they take to try to pick up this first down let's It Go quickly he's got it for a big game they bring him down but a big chunk of yardage on the play well this quarterback is unflappable here they are working with the lead in the second half get to a third down you got to throw the football this is where you trust the quarterback to make a good decision an accurate throw he does it you convert and you keep working that clock Georgia getting set with a first and 10 now back to throw it's receiver makes the catch love the timing here between the quarterback and his receiver pick up some positive yards I continue to be impressed with just the the chemistry between these two second down after that completion here's the snap offense looking to throw the ball quick completion to the tight end heads out of bounds after a solid gain more than enough to pick up a first down really good route here by the receiver but I love the quarterback's ability to look off that safety and make that throw and that's part of the quarterback's job here when you play in Athens for this Georgia offense they've had some great quarterbacks over the years guys like Matthew Stafford and Aaron Murray and more recently Jake prom and of course that'ss and Bennett who won back-to-back national championships and what they're seeing today from this quarterback they got to be very proud of on the second down play coming up from the shotgun handoff inside but they tackle him after just a 2yd gain so it sets up a third and eight you know the era that we live in right now everybody wants to spread the field round try to create space try to create one-on-one matchups and the defense has countered over the years by trying to play out wide but here's a great example of the defense has the ability to play wide but still be solid at the line of scrimmage and not give up big run plays looking for the wide out he's got an open man downfield and it's caught they pick up the first down tackled at the 25 with this offensive line you got to tip your cap they've done everything you would ask of them and taking care of this quarterback they do it again here on third down working with that lead you know the pressure's coming and they deliver offense sets up for play number eight on this drive off the play fake looking to throw caught over the middle it's young tackle made after a nice pick up on the play that was pretty the receiver broke down his defender on that curl against mantoan coverage that's how you win one-on one Georg has moved into the Red Zone they'll run it to the right side a two yd gain second and eight coming [Applause] up this defense just cannot get off the field the Long March moves on from the shotgun it's a handoff got space looking for the End Zone here and he runs it in for the score touchdown Serge I think we're starting to kind of see a theme here Chris today that's his second touchdown the offensive line doing their job and he's doing an outstanding job of just reading the defense finding the hole and being able to pick up big yards and touchdowns and now they'll set up for the point after for the EXT point and the P puts them up 17 now that makes 27 Miss now the kickoff team is out on the field set Kick he'll return it from inside the five and the returner will be brought down and the rebels offense is back out on the field they're going to run it in the clear at the 25 and they tackle him but not before he picks up the first here's the thing that I love about this play is the running back showing great patience and then the vision to find that hole and then accelerate through it for a nice game the rebels will hustle to the line here to run the hurry [Applause] up caught behind the line it's Wells defense reacts quickly a very short gain on the play well anytime an offensive coordinator calls a wide receiver screen he's trying to get offensive lineman out in front of the receiver to create a wall so that receiver can pick a lane to run through how about the defense here though that's called team Pursuit and swarming to the football they didn't give him any lanes so not much yards downfield for the receiver caught in the back field it's Watkins they make the tackle but that pass creates a solid game a really nice throw here to the slot receiver and i' love the quickness that he has after the catch he's essentially a running back playing at that slot position that's how how dangerous he is after he makes a catch urgency now for the offense that hate to come up empty on this drive down multiple scores we'll give it to the running back the defense gets him behind the line As Time expires in the third period and it's been an old school ground game duel these running backs have been putting on a show so far today so one f quarter to play it's going to take a lot to turn this game around but strange things do happen in college [Applause] football a running play called on fourth down that'll pick up a first down out of the 37 Chris I'll be honest man I thought on fourth down and one they might be just trying to draw the defense off sides but they caught me and probably the defense by surprise as well especially on their own side of the field gutsy play call right there to keep this drive alive and the rebels are moving quickly down the field looking to throw it on first down incomplete but a late flag comes in a lot of contact pass interfer defense man playing defensive back is got to be the toughest job out there right now in college football you get isolated on Islands against these freaky talented receivers it's hard enough to be able to stay up with him and try to make a play on the ball and often you end up bumping them downfield and you get a call like this offense getting set up here's second down keeping it on the ground here the Senor able to make the stop after a short game up and the rebels come up to the line in the hurry up ball handed to the running back tackle inside the 40 and it's good enough for a first down well that shows you the trust they have in their off defensive line in this running game to get to a third down just trying to come up with a way to be able to keep this drive alive keep hope alive that you can come back in this game you rely on Old Reliable with that offensive line and they come through for you the rebels getting set on First and 10 scanning the field it's dark receiver looks it in it's complete to get him down quickly not much of a gain of that completion a fourth quarter down by a couple of scores this offense doing everything they can not just score points but do it in a hurry try to preserve the clock here they're tackled in bounds they don't pick up a first down good job with this defense to keep that clock [Applause] moving that's going to be incomplete a lot of contact no flag brings up third down but I'm a big fan of the RPO but it is a dangerous play for the quarterback you got to make the right decision on this play it just seemed like he was a little hesitant unsure and it cost him here with an incompletion after the incompletion the lineup here for a third and seven dropping back he going to throw for the first down grab near the sticks it's Harris and a big game before he goes out of bounds the offense keeps churning gets a fresh set of downs really good job here of converting by this offense and let's face it at this point in the game because they have such a big hole to climb out of they've got to be able to convert and come up with a new set of downs they do it here now they got a real shot to cut into this lead back to throw again grab behind the line it's Harris just a good job here by the quarterback got the ball out to his receiver his guy eats up some yards they stay ahead of the sticks and the long drive continues the offense pushing the ball down the field out of the shotgun he hands it off tackle made after just a short game at the 17 yd line third down coming up offense needing to keep this drive alive it's a third down play and the back gets the football he picks up the first down before they get him to the ground you know even though that these guys are facing a deficit they're not just going all through the air love the fact that you're running the football keeping this defense honest not panicking by just throwing every single down now you got a new set of downs and a chance to keep moving the ball down the field and the rebels hustle to the line to run the hurry up and the quarterback keeps it on the option makes it across the goal line touchdown Rebels Chris that's what I love about this quarterback he a great touchdown but he shows you his versatility we know he can throw it but here he shows you his speed and how he can make the defense pay for that as well [Music] there set now to try the P ex [Applause] Point P up and good to get a little bit closer georia getting set to kick the ball off [Applause] now and here's the return from inside the five be tackled at the 17 strong job by the coverage team and the Bulldogs offense is back out on the [Applause] field hand off here from the shotgun that gain moves the ball out near the 25 hey you got to do what you got to do you got to rely on that offensive line in the running game here to be able to secure a victory good call and just keep working that clock second down after that run on the previous play looking for some space it's etn he's tackled short of the 30 but that's good enough for a first down good call here by the offense to be able to pick up this first down and Chris it makes you wonder with under 3 minutes to go in this game and trailing the defense sitting back in their base I thought they might be in a little bit more of an aggressive mindset turning the blitz loose trying to create some plays to get the football back keep it on the ground to work the clock here tackled behind the line it's a loss of two boy these obvious running situations are very tough when you're working with the lead late the game cuz you know the defense is going to stack the line of scrimmage make it as difficult as possible for you to run the football so nice job there by the defense they're trying to punch that ball out do anything they can at all to get the ball [Applause] back they call the draw play here breaks one tackle gets brought down but picks up some decent yardage I know this defense works very hard at halftime to come up with answers on how to try to slow down this running back after the big first half and he's already at it again third down after that running play they'll run it here they bring him down but that's a solid gain on the play you know the thing that's really stood out today for this offense has been the balance now they've gotten some yardage out the running back he's done his job the offensive line is protected and given the quarterback a chance to be able to throw the football he's been able to throw the football into the end zone now they're just looking to put on the finishing touches to win the game and that's the two-minute warning as this offense tries to work the clock getting closer now to an impressive Victory the dogs pick up enough yardage to move the sticks from the shotgun now here's a handoff inside that's a nice tackle there by the senior and now it's the defense that calls out here trying to get organized and preserve as much clock as possible second down play coming up for this offense he's going to hand this off breaks loose at the 40 oh and he's in the clear now it's a foot race they're not going to get him he's in touchdown do well that's why you practice right there Chris this offense had the pressure the game game on their back they deliver they get a touchdown and now make this a two possession game with under two to go like their odds of closing this game out [Applause] here comes the point after attempt extra point and the extra point up and good makes it a three-score game up 17 here in the fourth that makes the score georgia4 [Applause] 17 kickoff team on the field getting set now kick fielded In The End Zone it's Bentley he's brought down at the 12 that's field position to start the drive and the old Miss offense is back out on the field this has been a rough game for these guys not much left to do but play for Pride grab down the middle it's Wells moves the ball to the 25 good enough for a first down just that's a great example of his arm strength he just fired the ball in there much quicker than the defense could
