welcome to Starkville Mississippi affectionately referred to as start Vegas where earplugs are highly recommended because the cow bells will be ringing what a game and what potential drama we have in store you've seen this script before top 10 team goes into a cauldron of emotion on the road and just hopes to be able to get out and tell about it as we'll see the number 10 team in the country the Missouri Tigers taking on another sec rival the Mississippi State Bulldog fora sports college football I'm Reese Davis joined here in the booth by David Pollock and Jesse Palmer and guys let's get this thing started Missourri ready to kick off they got us underway here's the return from side is 10 couldn't find a way to create that broken field as he stopped at the 25 so Mississippi state's offense takes the field for the first time today and this guy is a big time star just an electricity follows him onto the field he's a Workhorse too reys this is a definition of a bcow running back he can carry the load for his offense and put his football team on his back out of cross the 30 mark down at the 35 after the 10yd gain man this guy is exciting to watch when he has the ball in his hands he can make magic happen they're going to throw it to him they're going to hand it off to him they're going to get him the ball in a variety of ways and they're doing it early in this game Mississippi State Going Up Tempo caught in the back field it's Coleman and he tried to string out that run but there was nowhere to turn it up field and he's forced out of bounds for a loss lost one on that last one it's second and 11 the give to the running back from the shotgun that's what you expect great tackle there well man there's some big hitting going on in the trenches right now this defense they take a lot of pride in stopping the Run let's keep our eye on them throughout the course of the game and see if they can contain this running attack third down conversions are a huge stat and this one would be a doozy if they can pull it off to the air it's shaen looking to the big tight end and it falls incomplete and the offense is lucky to have it Defender right there almost had it in his grass third and long situations are really hard to convert the defense knows it's going to be pass the pass rushers are getting up field you're under pressure you don't have timing and as a result now fourth down Mississippi state will roll out the punt unit looks as if they might have a little something going there but they'll have to kick it away fair catch called for and made so the Missouri Tigers offense will take the field for the first time as we take a look at our impact players for this game David what do you look for to make an impact from your leaders your leaders not only have to to lead the football team but they got to step up and make plays on the field keep everybody calm these guys typically do a really good job of it yeah David and they also generally set the tone for their respective football teams regardless of which side of the ball they play on the teammates look towards them to step up in big games like this this crowd full throat spreading the eard drums and letting them know it's going to be a long day might as well stick with him at the 45 on it way a huge gain on that one before he ran out of bounds and he has the first down I love that play call this offense is going to run the football they're not just going to do it between the tackles but they're going to attack you outside you saw that with that handoff they get to the right they get him in space using his speed good play call get a big play like that last one you flip the field you change needs the momentum now it's first and 10 from the 38 using his legs it's Carol here is trying to flex the muscle they get him down at the 34 after a pick up of four small game I know but again the defense knows he's going to run the football he's willing to run the football not just drop back and pass make him on to the Run game you got to do a lot of this solid pick up of four on first down it's second and six they'll give it to the back brought down just outside the Red Zone he moves the change it's at the 22 I think it's really important for this offense they get this guy going early in the game and they're doing a nice job of that right now remember he's the kind of running back who gets better as the game goes on that's a really good omen for this offense considering his success now early off the play fake on first down wants to throw pass rush coming after the quarterback and they get him at the 32 on the play this was one of the keys to the game could this quarterback could he extend plays and then make throws and scramble situations that time the defense was able to get to him and bring him down for a huge loss first down sack pushes it back now it's second down looking for a man it's cook b a little time lets it go quick completion on the out and it is a chunk play a huge gain on that one before the defense brings it to an end I'll tell you what that's great execution between the QB and receiver they look like they could execute that throw in their sleep quarterback took a steps threw it on time great route by the receiver nice job securing the catch this offense trying to quiet the crowd on first and goal and they are not cooperating they'll try to get it in with the Run Relentless tough running gets it down to the four I like this guy as a running back because he can run between the tackles and he can also go outside he can really do it all these fans raising the volume on second and goal this is a designed run and he runs it in for the score touchdown tiger backed up in the shadow of their own goal post no problem when you start in the black Zone inside your own 20 coming out it's difficult you can give up a safety you get worried about that but the offense puts a great drive together great job executing great job getting a touchdown now they'll line up for what they hope is automatic and with the extra point they get the first seven of the game that score Mississippi about to kick it off after punching it in for the touchdown he'll start the return inside his five not a lot of space to be found good Hustle by the coverage team and they stop him at the 21 here comes the Mississippi State offense ready to attack David the punter got some work last time they'd like to keep him on the sidelines in this drive yeah it's not something you want to say very often you don't want the punter out there this offense needs to get back lathered up and get a little bit more of a rhythm best way to do that identify where your best players are and just get them the football give these guys some touches to Kickstart this offense defense trying to keep this offense from getting a line on who to block Mississippi State right back to the line they give it to him again again he'll get it up to about the 32 yd line before he stopped and it'll be first down and here we go if you're an offense you got to get that ground gain going so you can have some balance and then you give it to your quarterback Palmer and let him make some plays down the field later on yeah exactly you know coming into this game this offense knew they were going to have to some way somehow at least establish the semblance of a running game for exactly what you just said you got to be able to use play action pass later in this game to get some explosive plays down on the field and it's a play like that that we just saw which can help them get that going you want to talk about making it easy for an offensive coordinator you pick up a bunch of yards on first down make that second down really really manageable that's a great job by the offense six- yd pickup on first down leaves him with second and four from the gun they'll try to impose their running game didn't get much done on that run he'll fight his way out and maybe maybe pick up a yard awesome job up front by this defensive line being so good at the point of attack and eating blocks eating some double teams that allows these linebackers to run free unencumbered and get to the football they'll try to get it through the air throws for the tight end it's complete a quick tackle made but he's got ready for the first down hard work pays off Guys these offenses work so hard week in week out working on those critical down and distances third downs and having that conversion this early in the game that's got to feel good for this offense Mississippi state has this drive hitting on all cylinders off the play f on first down to throw and the defense is all over the quarterback and down he goes often times with play action you're asking the quarterback to hold on to the ball a bit longer and you're asking this offensive line to hold up and pass throw a bit longer against this athletic front seven on defense it's going to be tough they'll try to keep that sack from Wrecking this drive here on second and 15 he leaves it with his back a solid pick up there before the defense is able to make the stop hey five to six yds a pop I don't know if you guys are really good at math but that usually equals a first down every couple carries so don't forget about the Run game keep them honest pound that rock they line up with some serious work to do if they want to convert this one looking downfield it's shapen looking downfield oh they really could have used that catch their physical pass defense it brings up a fourth down that's one thing this defense takes a lot of Pride on they like tackling the catch and they like being around the ball that time he was in proximity to knock that thing loose nice physical play so Mississippi state will have to punt this one away and the punt hits at the eight and goes into the end zone for the Touchback maou has it back on the offense coming out on the field takes a hand off it's Carrol not much there fcks up a couple to the 22 know I think a big part of this isn't necessarily scoring a touchdown on that plate but you're just trying to get your offensive line in the rhythm of the game let those Big Fellas get laded up that's the end of the quarter and Missouri has the lead one period in the books and let's take a look at the [Music] stats they've swapped into the field and we're ready to go in the second back to the ground with the running back he's dropped behind the line of scrimmage that'll be a loss of hurry how about that defense in the back field nowhere to go right away you could tell they were playing the Run game all the way and they got in the back field they got the tackle from this you make up the game plan and not a lot on the play sheet for this third and long from inside their own 20 fires to the wide out and the third down pass is incomplete every defense in the country talks about getting offenses in predictable third and long situations where I can bring on more speed stairs and I know the pass is coming so I can have more success so Missouri will have to PL it away getting our first look of the afternoon at the punter and the punt team able to smack him to the ground here comes the Bulldog offense back onto the field that last Drive won't go on the Highlight Reel after ending in a punt they'd like to be more productive this time David and I think this offense has to be a little bit more balance find a little balance between the Run Jesse and working in that pass and I think too David it's just going to take a spark it just takes one play to get this thing picked up and going Mississippi State Going Up Tempo right back to the well he tried to find some Running Room but they get him stopped great job of contained by this defense and in order to do that the end man on the line of scrimmage defensively has got to be able to set the point and force the football back into traffic and that's exactly what happened there got stuffed on first down it's second and 10 from the shotgun the hand off to the back and he's able to find a little bit of Running Room before they get him down listen you got to be able to know what play to call and what hole to go through like the line blocks for a certain hole good job getting through the hole getting what was blocked getting a nice positive game making your situation really good on the next down how bold will they be on third down after that last run looking to throw it's shapen and this is going to be incomplete on third down well on Third and short in field goal range they dial up the pass play quarterback was trying to get through his progressions there was just simply nobody open couldn't make in accurate enough throw it ball Falls incomplete Now setting up a big decision here on fourth down it's wise not to be too greedy and they'll go ahead and send out the field goal unit looks as if this will be a 51 yd attempt and he missed it no good after that Miss still a seven-point game guys Mississippi State Z Missouri has the offense ready to go on the field the last time we saw this offense we had to look quick it was a three and out Jesse it just had no rhythm in that last drive so someone's going to have to step up and make a play David and get this thing going yeah let's find some juice find your guy find those plays that you know you can run inside out forward backwards get some first downs get some positive [Applause] momentum didn't get much done on that first play of the drive it's second and 11 wide out in motion the GI to the back shakes off the tackle just a solid stop by this sophore I like feting my guy I like getting my running back touches feet move all so he can break some of those big runs but I'm also okay with these little ones set the tone stay back here comes this home crowd as the defense tries to get off the field on third down from the gun wants to pass oh he's ready to take a shot it's complete a huge pick pick up finally run out of bounds but he has this offense rolling with a first down well we know this guy is special and because of that his quarterback is looking to him on critical down and distances there on that third down there was no question it wouldn't have mattered if he was single covered double covered man Zone that's where he was going with it and the Big Time playmaker outside picks up the first a little misdirection and the handoff on the counter just sledgehammering his way down to the 33 when running backs Square their shoulders up it's when they have the most power you see him Square his shoulders up break tackles be strong continue to fow his way forward just making it really easy on everybody in this offense by breaking tackles halfway there on first down it's second and five looking for room it's Carol they bring him down and he's going to lose a yard on that one and you could do a better job up in front right there that run was doomed from the get nowhere to go the back gets hit as soon as he gets the football hard to succeed as a running back when you get the ball and you get Clum a third down drive for the [Applause] offense he'll try to pop the draw he's dropped behind the line of scrimmage that'll be a loss of three a lot of time those draw plays are successful when the defensive line run up the field Rush the quarterback create some holes not this time the defensive line did a really good job understanding that seeing the draw play getting the running back getting his butt on the ground Missouri will have to send out the punt team this will be the second time they've had to kick it away and that is textbook instructional video out of bounds right around the goal line leaves it with the running back they bring him down and he's going to lose a yard on that one well the offensive line had everybody blocked except the defensive end he was able to sneak into the back field and get the tackle for loss Mississippi State right back to the line out of the gun the inside hand off to the Run running back and a nice solid pick up there before the defense wrestles him to the ground just a simple power play power football be strong be big be physical make it a fourth quarter game make them feel you keep them off balance and would they dare be aggressive on third down this deep in their own territory nice run there good solid pick up and they'll move the sticks for a first down well that's kind of the advantage of third and medium right is the defense you keep them guessing you could throw it you can run it that time they hand it off and they pick it up yeah and you can see the d drop back a little bit it creates a little bit of space the running back blasts through gets the first down on the ground it's boo pushes ahead for two they'll mark it at the 17 and the defense doing a great job committing to the run when you commit to the run like this obviously you can give up some plays in the passing game but you got to stop the run first picked up two yards on that last one they need eight on second [Applause] down looking to pass it's shapen throws to the wide out it's caught downfield good job running that route to get past the sticks because he got nothing after the catch the clock has reached the two-minute Mark and they have a chance to at least cut into this lead before the break this first half of offense won't go on the Highlight Reel so far but starting to get things moving it's first and 10 he's going to pass and the throw out to the sideline good for a few that defense pushing him out of bounds after a short game quarterback driving back understanding I'm getting Zone coverage all I got to do is be a little bit patient manipulate that defense a little bit my wide receiver runs that drag and I get the first down they'll go four wide TN receivers on either side on second and six going downfield for the big play and they wanted it all on that incomplete pass instead they're looking at third down really nice play by the defender being in a good position for that deep ball down the field field not letting the receiver put his big body on him go up over top the only thing that could have been better is that thing tipped to another Defender and it was an interception but great coverage by the defender will step out of bounds but not before the big pick up and a first down for this offense and listen the defense knew coming into this one they were going to Target him early and often he is a weapon and there's no mystery where the quarterback's going to be looking on critical down and distances let's see how they're able to cover him throughout the rest of this game he'll just keep slinging it they're bringing heat got it in the middle it's boo they get him down after he makes a catch you know sometimes when you're throwing against Zone coverage you need time for the routes to develop so nice job by the quarterback there being patient allowing his receivers to work themselves open they'll send three white outs left one to the right on second and five back to throw it's shapen makes the grab on the left makes the grab and it's enough for the first down before he's dragged to the ground if they're going to keep covering him like that they're just going to keep going to him yeah and it's so hard because you want to stay back and and take away the weapons outside to the wide receivers but when this guy's going to be able to catch the football and he makes plays like this now I'm going to have to maybe go play more man bring a guy to him and not let him get those open touches he'll be brought down at the three y clim an explosive play in the passing game has him on the doorstep how nice is it as a quarterback when you don't have to throw post routes to get great stats no I can just throw it quickly to one of the fastest players in the entire nation and let him burn this defense and now a chance to pull even as we get late here in the first half lost the pass and the pressure was too much they get him at the 15 a timeout is called as this offense tries to find a way to get more points on the board before the half defense roll up deep in its own end on that last play now a second and long coming he's looking to throw can't quite make the connection there might have let him a little too much third [Applause] third and goal from way back there looking to throw and he needs a bunch just had to get rid of that one to save the yardage on third down really nice third down sub defense there that time it's third and long they're expecting pass and they're mixing up their looks they're trying to change the picture pre- snap to post Snap to confuse the quarterback now forcing the incompletion setting up fourth and if the kicker can put one through this will be a successful drive it's good he hit that one right down the middle [Applause] [Music] [Applause] [Music] so they get the field goal now about to kick it away and you got a stop here you go to halftime feeling really good about things and he takes this from inside the five and the coverage team gets the returner on the ground Bou has it back on the offense coming out on the field now they're backed up here Jesse wonder how aggressive they will willing to be I think it's going to come down to how much confidence they have in this quarterback in his decision making because you cannot throw an interception at this part of the field with this little time left and I think that's conversations you've had with a young fell on the sidelines being like what are you comfortable with right here that we can run maybe stay aggressive but make sure I don't make that mistake dropping back it's cook got his man quickly and he make the Stop and that is the end of the first half first half in the book it's time now to join Kevin Connor in our halftime update gentlemen you've had yourselves a superb broadcast so far today in Starfield and I get it a lot of coaches will say the difference between winning and losing comes down to stopping big plays and getting big plays but if you ask me it's more about how good you are on third down and how efficient you are in keeping drives alive those two stats can help you break the will of even the best defense and help you come out on top with that said let's send it back to the guys at Davis Wade Stadium Mississippi state will put a foot to it their crank up the second half on the move from inside his SP he was looking for some Running Room but not much to be found as he stopped at the 18 Miss has the offense ready to go on the field the sledding has been tough scores have been at a premium Jesse in every possession seems like it could switch the momentum of the game yeah re for this offense just feels like they just haven't been as physical and for this offensive coordinator David he's having to go deep into the Playbook just to try to generate a first down well and the good thing is there's not a ton of game pressure cuz the other side's not scoring either but if you can find that one thing that get that one positive play and then maybe you get the those juices going and something can start the Bild yeah it's a bit of a surge and he's knocked down after picking up three to the [Applause] 26 decb Rising as the crowd Gets behind this defense on third down they'll try to run for it now they'll really try to get this drive going good execution on third down as they have it first and 10 at the 31 you don't always have to run the sexy plays right they doesn't have to always be uptempo and fast and spread and doing all this stuff sometimes you just lower your shoulder sometimes you just run powerfully you get the first down and that's all that matters give to the single back finds enough room to get three out to the 34 this is so nice to know you can start off off on first down positive plays positive yards hand the football off set up a good second down got three on first down it's second and seven the give to the back he's knocked down in the back field he'll lose a couple and there was no space nowhere to go that play went absolutely L sometimes you just need a dude to show up and make a play and he did sometimes you just need to block that dude and they did if they can convert here that type of play can really give you a shot of momentum on Third and long trying to have a big completion here he's got it found a bunch of room and got it to the 44 yd line third down a lot of times it comes down to not necessarily who's the most open who do you trust the most yeah it's not about the x's and the O's it's about the jimmies and the Joe's and when my guy's better than you and I get you matched up out wide and I know I trust you I'm finding you the run from the shotgun knocked down at the 29 yd line picked up 15 yds on the play and he's got a first down this is going to be a big key for him David with the lead here in the second half running the football right staying on the field and bleeding the clock yeah run the football you're ahead you can be a little bit more conservative but again this opens up the pass this keeps everything in balance for this offense gets it out quickly he's brought down solid pick up but a little bit short of the first down my old coach said you'll never go broke taking a profit take what's there take the positive yards and never complain offense gets set for second Down On The Run it's Carol just steam rolling the defense they get him on the ground but not before he rumbles all the way to the five in halftime in this locker room there's a lot of positive things to talk about you got the lead but you know what else will be positive Palmer get the running game going early in this second half you're absolutely right here and I think this coaching stab is going to try to put this game on the offensive line a little bit let these guys take this thing over be physical and push this defense around they'll keep it on the ground for first and goal into the end zone he goes touchdown Tigers an impressive long methodical meticulous Drive ends in points it just metric calulated the ball down the field didn't they re so impressive didn't see a lot of explosive plays but how about the execution running and throwing the football wow they'll try to add another to their lead and with the extra point they pushed the lead out a little further so an 82 yd drive there and they punctuated it with a 5yd touchdown run kickoff team is on the field they'll try to drive this one deep here he comes from inside his own five really disciplined job by the coverage unit to get down there and make the stop at the 19 the miss Missippi State offense headed back to the field to go to [Applause] work he wants to go deep makes a catch and a huge play on the left side thank you very much that's what the quarterbacks thinking on that last play I think he was even shocked that his receiver was that wide open downfield he'll take it Mississippi State Going Up Tempo wants to throw on first down off the play fake unloads to the right all kinds of room to throw that one in there the tackle is made but he's got it first and goal from the six well this guy's going to make catches all over the field that time he lined up all the way to the left side and he was able to cross the entire field to make a catch on the right side defense lost track of them and it ended up being a big play first and goal and this feels like their chance to make a game of it they'll try to get it in with the Run he bullies his way all the way down to the 5 yd line at the 5 yd Line is now second we'll see if the offense can punch it in on second and goal back to throw it's shaen touchdown bog and they'll put that scoreboard operator to work and put six on the board number three got to start cutting into this lead somewhere now the question will they have enough time but that's step one you got to get that first score you got to get back in the ball game and get some of that momentum back on your side you still got more work to do but step one [Music] [Applause] accomplished now they'll try the two-point conversion and try to crawl within three wants to go up top trying to get to him the pressure gets to him quarterback is sacked and the two-point attempt is denied and the lead stays right where it is score Missouri 14 Mississippi State 9 about to kick it away after scoring the touchdown returner is going to try to see what he can get and the coverage team able to wrestle him down maou has it back in the offense coming out on the field David they'd love to do what they did last time and put this one in the end zone you ain't lying they did a great job the offense was clicking everything went well Palmer they executed and got the touchdown and they really were in a nice Rhythm as well and i' love to see that here on the next drive too just keep doing what you're doing everything seems to be working and you seem to have this defense on their heel Missouri wants to go fast to the ground with the back a strong tackle and wrap up from the junior didn't get much on first down it's second and nine scanning the field it's cook quick completion on the out route and he'll step out of bounds after a very productive play that's one that DB I think would like to have back out route he was in man coverage if he could have just got out of his break a little bit sooner he might have had a chance to intercept that one and take it to the house better find the a pluged here comes the noise backing this defense on third down to the ground to try to pick up the first they were all over him nowhere to go as that third third down play turned into a disaster as an offense you've got the lead you've had success running the football you hope that this play is just a blit because you know you're going to have to lean on your bcow running back to ice this game and close out he shanked it no opportunity to run it back as the ball goes out of bounds offense getting set for first down they'll crank up this drive with the pass that's caught it's Coleman and he'll step across the sidelines after making a good gain on that one [Applause] up big catches big plays tons of yards through three qus for these two guys n not only is the scoreboard on their side but so too is time as we open the fourth looking for a physical attack from the gun and he's brought down after a nice game that has got to be demoralizing if you're on defense because they just ran the ball right up the middle down your throats and they gashed you they've got it at the 36 it's a first and 10 dropping back it's shaen unloads to the Wi out and that incomplete pass caused by the big hit on first down second down coming after the misfire it's second and [Applause] 10 he'll PLL it on the read they can rely on this guy to pick up solid yardage when they needed and he's out to the 43 how easy was that I mean when you got a quarterback that can run designed runs like this and and get you five plus yards just and make it look that easy G it makes it really hard for the defenses to stop Mississippi State right back to the line they'll go to the air on Third and short fires to the wide out snagged in the middle it's Hudson oh and the defense in Chase mode and they finally get him down at the 35 there's a reason third down is called the money down what a great find by the quarterback great job finding his receiver at the end of the game you look at third down percentages it tells a huge story and it goes a long way in deciding who wins a football game off the play fake on first down just too much mustard on that one can't miss the Target that badly quarterback trying to attack the middle of the field I like the aggressive nature but his receivers aren't 9 ft tall no one's going to catch that no one can climb the ladder you got to bring it down a little bit still on the 35 yd line after that incompletion here comes second and 10 give to the back and a really nice run and pick up there before the defense avoided disaster and stopped the really big play you know they Pride themselves on being physical at the point of attack dominated at the line of scrimmage nice job there picking up the first down the Bulldogs will have it first and 10 touch pass on the right the defense wouldn't let him loose and even though it's a completion they lost yardage really good job by the defense seeing it and going and getting it nice job understanding the touch pass it could happen those guys go in motion man I got to understand safety's got to see that start flying down getting ready to play that nice job by the defense being ready for that [Applause] play to the air it's shapen throws to the tight end makes the grab touchdown Mississippi State they move on top here in the fourth and a nice job in the fourth quarter making plays and a nice job being on the same page QB receiver you could tell he broke with the football caught it in stride gets into the end zone nice pitch and catch right there nice Chemistry by the qban wide [Music] [Applause] receiver they're going to go for two here and try to extend that lead to a field goal wide receiver shows motion trying to barge in and to the end zone the two-point conversion is good and now they're up by a field goal he marked 78 yds down the field and they finish it off with a touchdown toss from the 23 the kickoff team out there and ready to go on the run from inside his own five nice job by the kickoff team everybody stayed in their lanes and they'll stop him at the 16 Missouri has the offense ready to go on the field on the ground it's Carol smashes through I know it's sexy to throw the football but if you can pound it away and get these kind of gains they will just add up wear the defense down get first downs and ultimately get some points after the nyd pickup on first down here's second and one keeping it on the ground with the single back oh the pirouette gets him look at that toughness just running through everybody well there's the offense trying to take advantage of this running back speed I like the call hand off to the left to the outside put him in space and let him go to work Missouri gets to the line quickly grabbed over the middle it's buron and they'll finally catch up to him but not before a big chunk of yardage is picked up good job reading the defense by the quarterback on that rplo field he waited to see how the defense was going to play the Run he saw Defenders bite up close to the line of scrimmage and right away he knew he had the slant throw right in behind they've got it down to the 32 first and 10 coming they'll leave it with him he make the stop as he gets it inside the 30 to the 28 a gain of four you know it's so important for offense is to want to keep third Downs managing the way you do that is by having success like that running the football on first down after the productive first down play it's second and six hand off from the shotgun running with power they'll make the Stop and he gets four on the play balls at the 25 I think they called that knowing they weren going to all so why would you call it that well you call it so third down becomes an easier down it's not third and long where I have to pass the football now all options on the team Ball's at the 25 they're in field goal range with they'd love to convert this third and short oh and a move and he's tripped up but not before picking up the first down well they came into this game today knowing that this guy was going to have to leave his Mark in this one tot in the Rock and he's done that he's come up with some big plays and he continues to do that here late at a juncture where they've got to continue running it if they're going to win down to the 18 yd line it's first and 10 might as well give it to him again head it to the end zone touchdown missoui and with that they move out front here in the fourth number n and this offense really showing their physicality running the football when it matters in the fourth quarter in crunch time to take the lead in this football game they'll try to attack one more on their score and the extra point is good and every Point counts it's now a fourpoint lead in the four scorei Mississippi almost ready to kick it away after scoring the touchdown looking for an alley from inside his own 10 just never had a chance to shake loose and he'll be brought down at the 24 here comes the Mississippi State offense ready to attack looking to throw it's shapen quick strike complete and he's got enough for the first down it'll be at the 35 he threw that one with some serious Heat this senior quarterback doesn't need a lot of space to get it in there Mississippi State Going Up [Applause] Tempo they'll throw it on first first down finds his man down the middle stopped after making the catch nice job by the receiver on the in route there and how about the speed after he made his break he was able to actually separate a little bit from the DB helping out his QB on that one linebackers moving trying to confuse the quarterback moving quickly trying to Rattle the D wants to throw on second down with the catch it's [Applause] Mosley the [Music] coming lining up trying to convert this third and short from the 40 from the gun wants to pass lets it fly makes it to grab inside the 30 touchdown Bulldogs they've got the lead here in the fourth I think one of the most underrated things we talk about with the QB is timing being able to get the ball out of his hands to his receiver where he can continue to catch the football and run with it nice pitch nice catch nice play in the fourth quarter when you needed it for this team to take the lead needs this one to push the lead to a field goal and it's good and he pushes the lead to three quick work on that scoring drive just four plays and the score comes courtesy of an explosive play in the passing game from 60 yd out lining up to cover the kick after that touchdown Drive he'll bring it back from inside the SP he was looking for some Running Room but not much to be found as he stopped at the 18 first down here with time for maybe one more play until the two-minute warning looking to move it through the air finds the tight end and an absolutely Fearless tackle giving up size still got him on the turf got some of the work done on first now let's see what they have on second down wants to throw it's cook got his man really nice job there by both guys the throw and the catch to work that defense and get the first down now and a great job by the QB finding the running back getting the football where he can do some damage after the catch and most importantly get the first down from the 39 yd line it's first and 10 he's looking to throw it and the physical play there forces the incompletion on first down well the quarterback knew he wanted to go to his tight end on that play he's a big physical Target but it was the hit on the play that forced the incompletion let's see which way they go after the incompletion second and 10 from the 39 they're going to throw it again and the pass to the sideline will pick up a short gain so surprised we have not been calling this guy's name more he's one of the best tight ends in the country but give the defense credit they have had an outstanding game plan limiting him so far that's only his second catch of the game these fans stepping up to help this defense on third down part of the Back Field it's Carol and he was knocked down immediately short of the line to game they'll have to make a decision here I think in this situation 2 minutes trailing late I think you got to be thrown to the sticks every time I don't know if these short completions are going to get it done you're just not going to have enough time to get down the field so from a play calling standpoint I think you want to think about being a little bit more aggressive on fourth down they'll throw for it makes a catch past the sticks Quick Time Out call by the offense after the play trying to preserve every minute possible Missouri has it ready to go with another first down he wants to throw makes the grab it's Burton they immediately call timeout trying to preserve every second they can to try to rally here late they're about to snap it for the seventh time on this drive he wants to throw here on second down he's got an open man touchdown tigers and in the final moments they've taking the lead and they're able to score on a drive where they had to have it this late in the game Big Time moments who do you trust as a quarterback you could tell this was a big moment he threw it to his big play wide receiver he knew he would come down to it and now the big play in the fourth quarter for the touchdown lining up to tack one more onto that lead and the extra point is good and every Point counts it's now a fourpoint lead in the fourth that makes the scorei 2 Mississippi St 24 now that they have the lead this kickoff unit has to stay in their Lane create some field position and hand it over to the defense he'll start the return inside his five couldn't find a way to create that broken field as he stopped at the 25 here comes the Bulldog offense back onto the field back to throw it's shapen Mak some connection oh look out there he goes the tag touchdown Mississippi State and they've got the lead in the final minute man this game has been incredible to watch and the offense comes through late in the game takes the lead what a clutch drive by this offense now I'm looking at you defense we got the lead late in the game I need you to go put this thing on ice and win [Applause] it this one's big to make sure they can't beat you with a field goal he's got it in the lead is up to a field goal a kind of Drive will boost your confidence One play hit the big pass put a touchdown on the board the kickoff unit about to go to [Applause] work looking for those open spaces and opportunity and the returner goes down maou has it back in the offense coming out on the field and if you list the priorities here Jesse first thing get your kicker into his comfort zone it's a balance here between being conservative in being aggressive you know that a field goal obviously puts you in a position to win this game but David I don't hate being aggressive here either no I I'm going to be aggressive I'm not leading it up to my Kicker if I have a choice I trust my offense I make the plays I know I can make I watch the clock but I stay aggressive well I know it's early in the drive but we've got less than a minute to go here we've got to be more aggressive we got to take some shots and put some pressure on the defense the hurry up now second down caught kicking and they'll spike the ball to try to save as much time as they [Applause] can big third down is the crowd Gets behind this defense they'll try to pick up the first through the air didn't have much of a choice just had to throw that one away it'll be fourth down interesting to see what the defense is going to do here now guys they've got the lead it's a two-minute situation fourth down what's your personnel grouping going to be and what do you want to do play Man play zone or you just going to sit back and play three bound down a possession here in the fourth and they need to convert on this fourth down can't find his man it'll be incomplete and that is a heartbreaker this late in the [Applause] game the quarterback takes a snap and takes a knee
