Syracuse University and Under the Dome today we have a terrific clash in store today a couple of teams getting set to square off in an ACCC battle as we'll see the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets taking on the Syracuse Orange for EA Sports college football ree Davis with you alongside David Pollock and Jesse Palmer time to get this game [Music] [Applause] started and the yellow jackets will get us underway with the opening kickoff here he comes from inside his own five and the Return Man reaches the end of the line and down he goes so Syracuse's return team will have that offense backed up and this big fella can beat you in a number of different ways in the passing game David yeah so much fun to have a guy that I can rely on that can beat weapon and I love that this guy has an awesome catch radius you don't have to be be perfect as a quarterback when you throw to him he can make you look good you want to talk about making it easy for an offensive coordinator you pick up a bunch of yards on first down make that second down really really manageable that's a great job by the offense good spot after that seven yd pickup on first down it's second and three dropping back it's mcord and the heat gets there and they get him down at the 14 yd line and listen the quarterback drops back and he's going through his progressions we see Zone but just couldn't do anything about it this defensive line this pressure getting to the quarterback getting them on the ground this defense has kept them backed up now one more stop and they can get off the field on Third and long they try to pop a run on the draw and boy is he close to that first down maybe just a couple of inches short what an unbelievable effort that time by the running back great vision and showing off his speed and now with that big gain he puts his head coach in a position where he's going to have to make a decision here what he wants to do on Fourth and short the orange will have to punt the punter going to get his first work of the afternoon waves the arm for the fair Catch and the catch is made close to the 30yd line the yellow jackets offense has its first opportunity of the day this is just a great matchup to watch on the outside and who can win downfield in the passing game man this reminds me of 1997 Charles Woodson versus David Boston two physical fires into traffic it's it's picked off he couldn't quite get loose on that return but he'd already made the play and they've got it up for 35 QB never saw the defender he's staring his receiver down telegraphing his throw and the DB jumped all over [Music] [Music] that couldn't ask for better field position for this offense how football with the Run not a whole lot of room there three yards maybe second and seven oh man there's some big hitting going on in the trenches right now this defense they take a lot of pride in stopping the Run let's keep our eye on them throughout the course of the game and see if they can contain this running attack Syracuse right back at it they go to the draw shows him the stiff arm Russell to the ground after picking up the first down and that is exactly why you stick to running the football haven't had a lot of success but boom you pop one right that's what you got to do you got you cannot become one-dimensional and just throw the football every down love the offense stick to the Run nice job getting the first down the offense down to the 25 now first and 10 looking to move it through the the air snagged in the middle it's gadston they stop him just a link or two short of the first and man what they can do on second down here and you see tight end match ups all over the field all the time now us should just be in the red zone now you just find the big fella you put him in the slot try to give him the ball as much as possible because you know he can make big plays going to the run it's Allen and they'll bring him down but not before he picks up the first down and you know big chunks like this don't happen unless you commit to the Run game you got to get those big boys up front into the game understanding I want to knock people off of the football create some holes like you do here for my running back make the game easy Syracuse comes to the line on first and goal they'll try to get it in with the run and he rolls into the house touchdown Orange and this running back is so dangerous down close to the end zone he's got wiggle he's got great vision and burst and he showed all of those attributes right [Music] [Music] there now they'll line up for what they hope it's automatic extra point they get the first seven of the game a very efficient five play scoring drive and he got into the house from the six to finish it about to kick it off after punching it in for the touchdown on the move from inside is five nice job by the kickoff team everybody stayed in their lanes and they'll stop him at the 16 the rambling wreck offense rolls back onto the field well the good news about this drive Jesse it can't go worse than last time through a pick on the first play no it certainly can't I think one good way David to help your quarterback turn the pages just find him an easy completion here and let him get back into a row yeah or find him an easy hand off just hand the football off maybe get the ground game going maybe jump start this offense a little bit here comes the offense on second down they think they can impose their will here with the run to the right he's dropped behind the line of scrimmage that'll be a loss of three well the linebacker showing you read and react he knew exactly where that running play was going and he beat the football to the line of scrimmage and force the tfl now facing a third and [Applause] long looking for a man it's Kane he's got his man across the middle and the defense makes the immediate tackle but he has enough for the first down hard work pays off Guys these offenses work so hard week in week out working on those critical down and distances third downs and having that conversion this early in the game that's got to feel good for this offense looking for space it's Hayes finds his way for three out to the 33 all right well the offense here to trying to get this run game established they obviously don't break off a long run there but they're just trying to find their footing at this point got three on first down it's second and seven off the play fake and he was drilled just as he released the pass it's incomplete doesn't take this defense a lot of time to get to the quarterback man they've got speed all over the place they hit him so quickly and because of that the ball Falls incomplete they couldn't make the connection on second down now a third and seven to keep the drive alive he's looking to pass that pass is well off Target he got hit as he was trying to throw and they can't convert on third down yeah and you don't see very many quarterback hits on screens you know the offense wants to Bluff real quick and make it look like pass and the quarterback's supposed to up with like pass and quickly get rid of you could tell timing all wrong it was all jacked up and that play went absolutely [Applause] nowhere he gets a block tries to find a little more Running Room on that return but he'll be stopped at the 36 the orange have the ball back and ready to go to work what a good mix of plays keeping that defense off balance last time David and we got a lot of running room and they'll do more than move the chain they'll move that thing more than 30 yd down the field before he's finally stopped I know it's early in the game but defensively after that play you know you have to tackle the catch when this guy gets the ball in his hands he is so dangerous after the fact so it's okay for him to make catches just got to get him to the ground [Applause] quickly the give to the back blast his way ahead but not much room a pick up of one to the 24 and you want to run the football that's okay you'll take some of these but if they start to add up down the road obviously you might want to think about airing it out a little bit didn't get much on first down it's second and nine back to pass it's mcord he looks that one in nicely really nice job there by both guys the throw and the catch to work that defense and get the first down Zone coverage means everybody's looking at the quarterback so now when I'm a wide receiver I got to make sure I know I fit in the hole between these zones I know where they're dropping to and I know where I need to get to great job by the wide receiver finding that hole and the quarterback throwing a strike from the gun the running back has it relying on that running game inside the red zone only picked up three to the 11 after the three- yd pickup they come to the line Second and seven leaves it with the running back and with that stop we are headed toward the end of the first quarter guys we're at the end of the quarter and Syracuse has the lead we've played one before we move on let's have a look at the stats and they've swapped into the field and we'll get it going in the second they'd love to pick up this third down and get a it's a draw they tried to go Smashmouth on Third and short and it did not work against this defense keep the foot on the pedal if you're on offense here you got that yardage yeah you didn't get the first down but you've set yourself up now to go for it here and keep this drive alive and on fourth down they'll try to put three on the board and as a holder picks his spot it'll be a 25 yd attempt he got it and now the lead is even bigger [Music] [Music] [Music] so they're lining up to kick it off after that last Drive put a three spot on the board and now the defense will try to shut him down he'll bring it back from inside his SP nice job by the kickoff team everybody stayed in their lanes and they'll stop him at the 16 the Georgia Tech offense rolls back onto the field the deficit here is just 10 points David So a chance to answer here plenty of time left in this football game no need to panic this offense just has to put a couple Drives together and listen the defense will get this back and get some stops fmer and get you the football back and I think I think here too David you have an opportunity to keep the pressure on the opponent yeah they just went down and scored but you score here and this game's still tight you keep their feet to the fire so an opportunity here to keep applying that pressure knock down for the tackle yeah I wasn't sure if the offense was going to be able to dig themselves out of this hole but on second in California they dial up the running Play Now setting up third and short the yellow jackets come to the line in the hurry up he'll keep it himself he'll have the first down as he gets it to the 28 yd line before he stops this quarterback does an outstanding job in his preparation watching film and understanding when he has to pull the ball on these types of run plays great job keying on the defender and quickly making the right decision to pull it and then go get North and get the first he'll do it himself nowhere to run on that one he loses four on the carry I'll tell you this is a hard defense to run against if you're going to go sideline to sideline because of that guy's speed at linebacker he can get all the way to the perimeter chase the quarterback down on the option and make the tackle behind the line of scrimmage impressive couldn't get him blocked on that last one now it's second and 14 give to the running back crosses the thir to the 31 A6 ydd gain the counter play is a great play to mix in because defensively you you're not looking for the counter you're looking to attack attack attack all of a sudden two guys pull across the formation now you got to change your direction really quickly and it keeps you off balance and really keeps you on your Fels on Third and long he has to throw for it oh they really could have used that catch their physical pass defense brings up a fourth down this is a point where you just got to be able to focus the critical down and distances in this game like that third down right there when it's a good throw you got to make the catch you got to be able to make that play and the yellow jackets will bring the punt team onto the field this will be the second time they've had to kick it away slips through the line they'll put a stop to that return at about the 37 yd line the Syracuse offense heads back onto the field always good to get points on a drive David but Chip Shot field goals can leave you a little empty and I think it's great to get points with a great teams get touchdowns in the red area you got to get out there this time and execute a little better on this drive you're absolutely right David and generally the best Red Zone offenses are the ones that run the ball the best so let's see if they can be a little bit more physical on this drive got stuffed on first down it's second and [Applause] 10 dropping back it's mcord finds his tight end they almost got a first down there stopped a yard short it'll be third down well a nice completion there finding the tight end and what's so beautiful about that is while they didn't get the first they were able to pick up enough yards now to make the third down manageable really putting this offense in a good position passing game very effective on second down what about here on third they'll try to pick up the first through the air catch in the middle it's gadon they convert on third down as he gets it to the 46 yd line well that down a distance the quarterback's got to get rid of it so quickly right he knows the defense is going to be bearing down on him so a nice job catching the gun snap and then turning and pivoting getting it out of his hands quickly and accurately to pick up the first Syracuse right back at it they'll go to the ground showing off the arms I'll tell you this is a running back who's very very dangerous and the defense did a good job getting him down there but they got to do a great job gang tackling because this is a guy that can break tackles and turn those types of plays into home runs got three on first down it's second and [Applause] seven they'll Run play action feeling some heat hey and the quarterback is snowed under the defense just simply not fooled by the play action often times an offense you're hoping the Run fake is going to slow down those pass rushers but man oh man they had their ears pinned [Applause] back this is a third and long looking to throw and he needs a bunch under heavy pressure lets it Fly and trying to put points on the board oh you know what time it is when the defense gets that stop on third down fist up in the air nice job getting to the quarterback putting some pressure on him hitting him forcing the incompletion fourth down down baby fourth down and the punt team sends it the other way and the punt hits at the eight and goes into the end zone for the Touchback George Tech has the ball back and here comes the Yellow Jacket offense they'll run the RPO and Fire to the right tackled immediately after the catch I really like the slot receiver and I understand he's not the biggest guy in the world but he just runs really good routes and he's always under control he can run option RS he can run double moves he does a great job cutting and he's dangerous after the catch nice weapon to have work in the middle of the field they'll go five wide on second and eight to the air it's King coming after him and the heat gets there and they get him down it's the 14 yd line timeout is called and it's the defense wanting to make sure that everyone's on the same page for this big down you make up the game plan and not a lot on the play sheet for this third and long from inside their own 20 and he's not going to get there the defense Stands Tall and makes the stop the yellow jackets will putt this one away doesn't say much for your drive when you're looking forward to the punt fair catch called for and made the offense set for a first down [Applause] play he'll start this drive firing going deep catch inside the 25 touchdown Syracuse and once he found open space the band might as well start playing man is that perfect timing you can tell quarterback drops back he sees his guy and he knows he's open but watch the throw deep down the field Palmer right in the Red Basket nice play nice pitch and catch he did a nice job of getting it up in the air early and allowing his guy to run under the football locate it and then make a tough grab that is the definition of an explosive play [Applause] they'll try to add another to their lead the kick is up and good and put one more on the lead that drive not too taxing on the Playbook One play put it in the end zone just like that about to kick it away after scoring the touchdown and he takes this from inside the five and the coverage team able to wrestle and down the rambling wreck offense rolls back onto the field they find themselves in a pretty deep hole here but maybe a chance to grab a little momentum and regroup at half time yeah a big chance like this is this is an opportunity this is the biggest opportunity in front of them in the game right now you got to get some points on the board you got to create something positive Jesse there hasn't been a whole lot to be positive about in the first half if I'm playing quarterback I'm locating my go-to guy receiver who can I count on one-on-one to go and make me a play maybe even one on two who can go up catch the ball get us some yards and get us some points complete downfield a timeout is called as this offense tries to find a way to get more points on the board before the half it'll be a first down from the 49 yd line he wants to throw HS it in and they got the defense on that one and they get it to the 29 yd line and I love the awareness by the wide receiver on that play because I'm not sure that route was supposed to be that deep you got to wonder if the receiver decided maybe to adjust the route a little bit to make sure that he got the first down finally this offense starting to shake the cobwebs and get things moving it's first and 10 and he drops it just took his eye off of it at the last minute just got to finish the play for the wide receiver you got to look that one in and complete it it's a bad drop here they come to try it again on second and 10 from the 29 he'll just keep slinging it quickly out to the tight end and he'll step out of bounds after a very productive play you know David this is really what game managing is nice up on second down to help them on the next play yeah I think people look at that negative sometimes finding a quarterback that's a game manager no use your brain set up good situations I'm I'm way more successful when I can keep those sticks at a more manageable situation and I'm not as predictable on a third down and this junior loves to show off that Big R when you're a playmaker like this guy is your coaches are going to dial up plays intended for you especially on third down that's what you saw in that last play there was no question where the quarterback was going with that football all week long they decided on the biggest Downs of this game we're going to Target our best player and we're going to make sure that he gets looks it doesn't matter what the coverage is and you saw it right there on that play man we're seeing the tight end use more and more in the passing game you see him move him inside you see him move him outside you see him move him in the Box to block people so here they put him in the slot just have a nice little pitch and catch session looking for just one more yard it's second and goal he caught it takes it to the house touchdown yellow jackets and I tell you what that passing touchdown man that should spark this whole team like The Comeback is more than on now like they got the touchdown they cut into the lead you want to get a stop and go into the half get all the juices all the excitement and be like listen the passing game's rolling we got this The Comebacks in full effect on to attempt the try and with the extra point every little bit counts as they get closer so they got the touchdown and as they kickoff really important for the defense to shut them down here he'll start the return inside his five he was hoping for something a little more Dynamic that they get him on the ground at the 20 the orange have the ball back and ready to go to work they've got some time to work with here Jesse and if they get a first down they might really get aggressive I'd be aggressive right out of the gate I'd be throwing for a first down if I get it then pedal to the metal I'm in that two-minute mode to try to score a touchdown or get a field go but I do think this is a situation where you also have to understand that I have the lead going into the half I've got the momentum so don't do anything stupid here perfect play call for that big gain to open the drive now here they come on First and 10 looking downfield it's mcord he's right on target wow the quarterback knew he had to get that one to his receiver quickly on the end route did you see the velocity on that line getting set on second down he's looking to throw grabbed over the middle it's Allen and they knock him down but he got past the line to game I just love quarterbacks that aren't greedy and that aren't always trying to throw the Home Run ball right second down you're in your own end of the field the guy you want to throw to is not open just find the back he'll go do something positive with it this guy is a weapon and you got to find him in the passing running out of time here in the first half they're going to have to be efficient to put some points on the board before the [Applause] break that's going to wrap up the first half here and now we join Kevin with the halftime update fellows a typical first r great broadcast so far today from Syracuse and we've got to start our halftime breakdown with this Superstar running back his elusiveness his raw power this young man is the total package and his ability to catch the ball out of the back field is a differentiator a lot of guys could hit the hole this kid could hit the hole and hit the home run in the passing game and with that let's send it back to the guys inside the dome in lovely Central New York Syracuse has it teed up ready to kick off and start this second half on the run from inside his own five didn't find any crease in that kickoff coverage and he'll be stopped at the 17 the Georgia Tech offense rolls back onto the field if they're going to get on top in this game they're going to have to find a way to get the running game going in the second half agree so it can create some more balance some more unpredictability I feel like this defense has got a good beat on what they're doing especially if they don't mix it up a little bit so I do look for a little second half running the football Palmer out of this group and I think the thing Dave is they just got to be more physical I don't think this is a scheme question about trying different run plays I think it's up to the Big Fellas up front they've just got to make the decision that they're going to tougher here in the second half so that they can win this game there to make the tackle but the big throw is good enough to give them a first down man it's so important when you play QB I got to know when to put some bear on it and I got to know when to rocket that thing in there working the middle of the field he knew he needed the rocket threw it in there great job great catch and the yellow jackets want to move quickly off play action on first down quarterback strolling away from heat and he has a solid gain on the play before sliding yeah I think you're just seeing the experience this guy has right he's so poised and initially he's flushed out of the pocket nothing's open and he doesn't panic he's not throwing it away he's not sliding early he just knows where the defense isn't and he's able to attack that space with his speed and get a positive play they'll run it from the gun and they'll spot it at the 45 that's good enough for a first down the yellow jackets are flying down the field quickly complete makes the catch and he's brought down a defensive man it helps you a lot when you can be a linebacker or a corner or safety anybody and you see the QB throw the football now I can break on the football right away and limit gains like right here on this play so after the first down run here's second [Applause] down two the air it's King looking toward the sideline and a nice job to keep his feet in bounds if every Journey begins with a step this offense needs to step into a third down conversion and then try to turn it into some scores and fast fires left oh kinds of room to throw that one in there that'll be enough for the first down as they mark it down at the 31 yd line and the yellow jackets come to the line with a fresh set of downs [Applause] off the play fake on first down he'll pull it down and run he's going to be able to pick up a few yards before the slide he does a good job of dropping back going through his progressions nothing there what do I do go get some yardage make it positive don't sit back in the pocket and force something into a bad situation or take a sack great job making something out of nothing the yellow jackets headed quickly to the line off play action throws toward the end zone had it in his hands for the score and let it fall to the turf it'll be third down what a play by the defender there guys in his own End Zone the offense has taken a shot and if that Defender was just one step behind that would have been a touchdown but the hit forces the incompletion balls had the 25 they're in field goal range but they love to convert this third and short they're trying to get to it and the quarterback will take a sack back at the 36 and the defense there goes Zone coverage maybe confused the quarterback a little bit forced him to hold on to the football and that allowed the pass rush to get [Music] home now on fourth down here comes the field goal team and he's going to have to get into this football this is a 53 yd attempt it is perfect well that kid just showed off his hammer for a leg 50 plus and he did it with ease [Applause] [Music] they were able to get a field goal on the board and now they'll kick it away here he comes from inside his zone five he was looking for some Running Room but not much to be found as he stopped at the 18 the Syracuse offense heads back onto the field off the play fake on first down wants to throw oh and he gets downfield for the Big Catch and the explosiveness the big Gainer gets it to the 49 yd line and a big reason why this team has the lead in this game is because of plays like that they know they've got Firepower throwing the ball they've got the dudes outside that can make things happen you saw it in the first half and you see it here again early in the third [Applause] quarter trying to find his man on first down got it behind the line it's Allen and a good job in coverage there as they stop it after just a few and Len I know that wasn't a huge gain it was positive but I like doing more of that in today's college football I'm just going to try to give my Playmakers a chance to do damage in space away from all the big boys inside Syracuse right back at [Applause] it looking to throw it's mcord unloads to the wide [Applause] out hopefully that's not going to affect the quarterback's confidence going back to this guy later that was a catch he should have made he dropped it let's see what the QB does moving forward if they can convert here that type of play can really give you a shot of momentum gives it to the back on the draw he gets it to the 38 yd line and they'll pick up a fresh set of downs and I don't care if I get it by two by 20 by 30 by 40 I I just I just want to get the first down understanding the situation understanding where the sticks are doesn't have to be sexy but I got to make sure I get to that stick get to the first down Mark Syracuse has a really nice drive going [Applause] they're getting this guy lathered up able to scr three yards out of that one somehow it's second and seven small gain I know but again the defense knows he's going to run the football he's willing to run the football not just drop back and pass make him on to the Run game you got to do a lot of this after the three- yd pickup they come to the line Second and seven wide receiver shows motion trying play action quickly to the tight end and they'll finally catch up to him but not before a big chunk of yardage is picked up well I know the tight end did some good things after the catch but got to give the quarterback credit to for the location of the throw because he put it out in front of his big man he was able to make the catch and accelerate creating some distance there between him and the defense they're in the red zone and they'll pass it gets it out quickly terrific job getting to him there was nowhere to go this quarterback right now is in a Groove and he's doing a nice job in pre-nap he's reading the coverage and he's getting an idea of where he wants to go with the football that's why the ball's coming out of his hands so quickly that's why he seems like he's in her great Rhythm right now going to work on second down in the red zone is still some ground to cover to pick up that first down the give to the running back from the shotgun pull down after a pick up of five they'll mark it at the eight I think they called that knowing they weren't going to hit a home run so why would you call it that well you call it so third down becomes an easier down it's not third and long where I have to pass the football now all options on the table not a lot of ground to cover and not much to defend a big third down in the Red Zone dropping back it's mcord and that one's way too far for everybody well on Third and short in field goal range they dial up the pass play quarterback was trying to get through his progressions there was just simply nobody open couldn't make an accurate enough throw ball Falls incomplete Now setting up a big decision here on fourth down now on fourth down they'll try to come away with three and he's already put one three spot on the board he'll try another one from 25 yd T and the kicker delivers the three ball to finish off the drive and that will extend their lead even further [Music] [Music] so after putting three on the board the kickoff team is out there ready to boot it away and he's coming out of the end zone that is a decision he will likely regret he brings it out of the end zone and he's knocked down at the 10 they'll throw it on first down finds a tight end there to make the tackle and with that we'll head to the fourth quarter guys we're at the end of the quarter and Syracuse has the lead they're sitting in a strong position here with the lead let's take a look at our game summary when you're dealing with a deficit like this it's all about somebody stepping up to make a play and you might as well start here in the fourth quarter out of the gun the inside handoff looking for a priest able to pick up a couple before he's dragged down at the 19 third and short they've got them backed up inside the 20 and the D can get the ball back here unloads quickly he was running through tackles and picked up the first down and finally got knocked down this is the moment for this offense to put a drive together it doesn't matter what's happened up to the point of this game but you're trailing right now you got to put some points up on the board this is where all 11 guys need to be playing together as one and the yellow jackets will line it up on First and 10 going to run it it's Haynes found a little bit of Running Room knocked down at the 24 after a pickup of four listen that wasn't the Great greatest run in the world but it was very successful and you're making me honor the run and another thing every time you run the football someone gets tackled there's physicality involved in the game so I like when offenses commit to the running the football no matter what the outcome is because those body blows do add up now they'll run the draw he's dropped behind the line of scrimmage that'll be a loss of three yeah and this offense has to find a way to run the football they got to get more creative whatever that looks like for this offense something to jump start them because nothing really going on the ground yeah defensively though you got to give them credit too because they knew that physically they were going to try to be challenged up front that was a big M Mo for this offense coming into it but the defense they've risen to the occasion their front seven has dominated this entire game and he was loose and in the open field and on his way a tremendous pick up on that one and even though they're trailing here in the fourth quarter they've got a quarterback that can bring them back but they need him now to play his A+ level of football we saw a nice completion on that last third down let's see if he can keep it going the give to the single back at the 45 on it way really nice patient job to find some Running Room by this junior first down you know you always want to establish the running game how about this offense nothing f FY run the football be physical get a big game they'll put it in play from the 41 on first down he's going to pass floats it out in space and the defense settled in to stop that one for a short gain guys out of the back field now it's not just run the ball down hill anymore you got to be versatile I got to be able to trust you in the pass game and I got to be able to throw you the football and you can do that right there there I know you're going to catch it and I can depend on you this offense has a second down play now the play fake throws to the tight end and the pass is incomplete thanks to a big hit the big tight end tries to make a catch and you can tell extends for the ball but great job by the defender getting in there making the hit dislodging the football out as the same time as he's going to catch it the big tight ain't couldn't hold on to they couldn't connect on second down now staring at a third and nine it'll be a draw he gets it oh so close to the first down marker but I think he's going to be a touch short man I think back in the day this is a no-brainer you're putting the football and believing your defense but analytics all the time now telling you to be aggressive I'm interested to watch this play obviously if you're aggressive you might have run this clock out and in the football game and not have to put your defense back on the field the official says no good the Miss field goal leaves us with a double digit game still sitting at 10 the orange have the ball back and ready to go to work so last time David they ate up some clock ran a bunch of plays but settled for the field goal yeah but they're still up Reese and I like where I'm at and if I'm on offense right now my job is to put another long drive together eat more clock and get another score just got to be better in the Red Zone this time around when they get down close to the go on you need better execution to put a touchdown on the board here they'll probably bleed every second possible off this clock before they snap it they'll run it they want to take their time here you want to make sure to maximize those types of runs and he gets it out to the 41 and you know when we talk about great third down defenses it really starts with them getting stops on first and second down you've got to get those stops early in the drives to set up third and long so that's a missed opportunity on that second down by this defense [Music] [Applause] on Third and short just trying to get enough for the first down and a really nice run and pick up there before the defense avoided disaster and stopped the really big play these situations are preached so much in college football finishing a game strong understand him circumstances they are running the football right at you trying to keep we've reached a two-minute warning and this offense will be quite content just to drain the rest of the time [Applause] away defense showing plenty of pre-nap movement of their own Syracuse ready to go to work with another first down running back searching for a hole it's just so nice to know you can start off on first down with positive plays positive yards hand the football off set up a good second down at this point the defense has little choice but to sell out to stop the run on second and seven using his legs to talent and he's swallowed up at the line of scrimmage by the big defensive tackle quick timeout called by the defense stopping the clock to save as much time as possible for their offense the marker rest at the 39 and that's what they need here on third down they'll run it out of the shotgun they bring him down and he's going to lose a yard on that one defense uses a timeout quickly trying to get that ball back and preserve time for their offense Syracuse will send out the punt team hunt goes out of bounds and a really nice job as they stick them deep in their own end they'll mark it around the 10 he wastes no time and comes out throwing fires a bullet now it's picked off and with the interception he'll take it all the way back touchdown CES the DB saw it he thought don't drop it don't drop it thought don't get caught don't get caught and he didn't the pick six hey these guys can play offense too now look at this I showed you I can be a wide receiver coach might spit him out a wide receiver next week after making that big play but defense great job making the interception and you're right doing something with it don't just slide down don't be content take that thing all the way [Applause] back and that extra point is a big one as they now have eight three possession 17-point lead in the fourth they're about to kick it away and the defense probably can't wait to get back out there after the pick six on the move from inside is five really disciplined job by the coverage unit to get down there and make the stop at the 19 Georgia Tech has the ball back and here comes the yellow second offense a strike downfield good call good execution as they move the chains and they have a first down at the 38 I really like this slot receiver because of his shiftiness and you see that on his route run really really nice job creating separation for his QB everybody has to be set they have to get it off wants to throw on first down down good quickness to grab it off the deflection and he's able to shed one tackle and gets a pretty good pickup he got a hand on it and deflected it but probably just got a bruise off that missile and gave up the completion yeah not used to handling the revolutions on that football QB zipped it in there nice job getting the deflection getting your hand on the football that's what you're supposed to find the football but the offense got the break and got the completion [Music] [Applause] down offense breaks the Huddle on third down looking to throw it's Kane throwing right it's complete big play for this offense as they get it to the 32 there's a reason third down is C the money down what a great by the quarterback great job finding his receiver uh at the end of the game you look at third down percentages it tells a huge story and it goes a long way in deciding who wins a football game the yellow jackets want to pick up the tempo he'll spike the ball to try to save every precious second he can and now on second down for this offense he's looking to throw got his man to the left good job running that route to get past the sticks because he got nothing after the catch Listen QBs and wide receivers got to be on the same page and you got to know when to throw that curl route it's got to be on time right when the wide receiver breaks so the DB can't catch up nice job QB and wide receiver being on the same page getting some positive yards the offense going to try again on another play they'll just spike it on this one and here comes the offense on second down he's looking to throw getting some heat good job to avoid the negative play and just get rid of that thing well this guy must feel like he's run into a buzs saww in this game he has been under duress all game long and that's a big reason why he's thrown multiple interceptions in the game too nothing coming easy to him it's hard to see the field when your internal clock is going off so fast because of the pressure of this defense and that's why they find themselves down by so much here in the fourth for the third straight play the pass Falls incomplete at this point of the game in the fourth quarter it is going to be tough for this offense to get some completions here because now trailing by this much the defense is expecting pass and they're putting a whole bunch of extra DBS on the field to help them out in coverage and after this play the cake will be baked on fourth down they're taking to the air it's caught downfield can't quite cross the plane to get the six but they'll have the first down [Applause] fin SCH Syracuse 27 [Music]
