welcome to Atlanta Georgia the flats Bobby Dodge Stadium home of the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets and the rambling wreck hoping to rev up that engine today's matchup a Peach State Showdown where battle lines have been drawn from Savannah to Atlanta as we'll see a squad from the Sun Belt the Georgia State Panthers taking on a team from the ACC the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets glad to have you with us for EA Sports college football I'm Reese Davis David poock and Jesse Palmer with me in the booth guys we are ready to tee it up and the yellow jackets will kick it away first and he takes this from inside the five nice job executing all of the assignments as they put a stop to that return at the 22 the Panthers offense takes the field for the first time today and when you have a quarterback like this guy the entire offense feeds off of him David oh everybody feeds off of his energy and the whole playbooks open because you can trust on him he's Dependable Palmer he's also one of those guys if he gets in a good Rhythm watch out this dude starts firing strikes I like feeding my guy I like getting my running back touches feeding the ball so he can break some of those big runs but I'm also okay with these little ones set the tone stay balanced picked up two yards on that last one they need eight on second down back to pass it's Gibson unloads it left receiver wasn't ready for the throw incomplete the QB had all day to throw the football that's the good news the bad news is they couldn't find anybody open and couldn't deliver the ball to them so let's see if they can get some chemistry going with the wide receiver and quarterback throughout this game already they've hit a speed bump on this opening drive it's third and eight from the gun wants to pass pulls it in it's Herz and he's got enough for the first down it'll be at the 35 that was a really well run route on the curl to pick up the first down yeah and it's a nice job too by the receiver getting his dep and then finding space in between the Defenders giving his quarterback a nice Target Georgia State ready to go with another first and 10 on the ground it's Beasley and he was fortunate not to lose yardage on that play able to wedge it back to the line of scrimmage and just a great job by the defense being Stout right that's your job be Stout up front Stu in the Run play make them get in more passing situations but do not let them run the football that's 101 stop the run first got on first down it's second and 10 they try to pop a run on the [Applause] draw a third and long coming up here from the gun one want to pass getting some heat and the defense gets to the quarterback and that is a great job by the defense containing and constricting the pocket there was nowhere for the QB to go and he did not have a lot of time he went down Qui Georgia state will send out the punt [Applause] unit not going to risk a return here calls for the fair Catch and makes it just around the 30 yd line the yellow jackets offense headed onto the field our first look at them today as we take a look at our impact players for this game David what do you look for to make an impact from your leaders your leaders not only have to lead the the football team but they got to step up and make plays on the field keep everybody calm these guys typically do a really good job of it yeah David and they also generally set the tone for their respective football teams regardless of which side of the ball they play on the teammates look towards them to step up in big games like this not what they had in mind to start this drive here comes second and 13 he's knocked down in the back field he'll lose a couple and that seemed a little off from the start didn't it that was a big time play and it was off from the start because of the play he made and I don't think it would have mattered who was playing running back there was absolutely nowhere to go and the running game has been disastrous on the last couple of plays they'll try to salvage the drive on third down makes the grab over the middle and sure tackling there to keep him from getting to the first down marker you got to love that on defense one of the most critical statistics out there is how do you play on third down how you prevent the opponent from keeping drives alive right there tackling the catch you gave up the completion whoop-de-doo you set up fourth and long you're going to get the ball back go get some water and celebrate fourth down and the punt team sends it the other way and they'll get him down after the return at the 27 yd line guys the Georgia state offense returns to the field that last Drive won't go on the Highlight Reel after ending in a punt they'd like to be more productive this time David and I think this offense has to be a little bit more balanced find a little balance between the Run Jesse and working in that pass and I think too David it's just going to take a spark it just takes one play to get this thing picked up and [Applause] going from the 39 yd line it's first and 10 Ed the play fake now to throw caught in the back field it's her and that will go backwards a negative play in that defense on high alert that time and how about that linebacker seeing the ball getting thrown really quickly to the wide receiver breaking on it and then be able to get that fast guy on the ground for no gain that's a really athletic play by that linebacker second down coming up dropping back it's Gibson and the pass is incomplete jar Loose by a hit well it was a good throw it was a good route but it was the hit that forced that incompletion now facing a third and long from the gun wants to pass fires one high and deep and they can't hook up on the big play and that brings up a fourth down DB does an outstanding job here on the Deep pass locating the football no Pi able to swat it away pass incomplete Georgia state will send out the punt unit this will be the second time they've had to kick it away he only needs a sliver of daylight that's a perfect example of not settling for a fair catch pick up whatever yardage you can and help out the offense from the gun they'll try to impose their will hey five to six yards a pop I don't know if you guys are really good at math but that usually equals a first down every couple carries so don't forget about the Run game keep them honest pound that rock sixy pickup on first down leaves him with second and four they'll move the running back to try to force the defense to adjust got him down field and the tackle was made but not before that completion gets them 30 plus love the individual effort by the wide receiver after the catch making people Miss showing you the speed now he set up his offense down in the Red Zone The Yellow Jackets want to pick up the tempo [Applause] quarterback on the keeper they finally get him on the ground with the big running play moves to change for the first down oo I like that option play I'd keep running that too because it's obvious the defense right now is really keying in on this running back that was a big point of emphasis for them all week long in practice and it's opening up holes now for the quarterback to run they'll try to get it in with the Run he pushes it forward all the way to the two yd line second and goal for this offense quarterback Quick Pass to the receiver touchdown yellow jackets and they strike first and wouldn't I start for this offense the throw game getting working getting the touchdown pass this quarterback getting a little bit of confidence this passing game getting in a rhythm nice start for this offense [Music] ready to try the point after and the extra point is good and it's seven nothing a very efficient five play scoring drive and it was finished off with a two- yd touchdown TOS they're just about ready to kick it [Applause] away he'll bring it back from inside to spot didn't find any crease in that kickoff coverage and he'll be stopped at the 17 Georgia State takes over ready to send out the offense that last Drive fizzled out Jesse they had to punt it yeah they did and David they're just going to have to do a better job this time around erasing the mental mistakes and just trying to solve the defensive riddle understanding what they're trying to do to you and attack them after getting knocked back to open this drive it's second and 12 looking to pass it's Gibson throws to the wide out wide open downfield and works it to the 40 yd line that'll be a first down yeah and the quarterback knew exactly where he wanted to go the football had time spins the ball deep nice job by this offense understanding what the defense is given them and creating the explosive play and the Panthers in the hurry [Applause] up Red Pass it's complete really confident throw and catch there big pick up and they have a first down and that's just a great individual effort by the wide receiver he catches this ball way short of the sticks but because he's able to make the defender Miss now he's able to get the extra yards and turn that do an explosive play the Panthers have it with a first and 10 out of the gun the running back has it not much working there it'll be second and nine yeah and the running back didn't get much here but you know you clearly want to always establish the tempo run the football be consistent make that defense physically meet the challenge didn't get much on first down it's second and [Applause] nine out of the gun the inside G and they try the middle of this defense and that is not happening it's an offense that takes pride in being physical they try to get it going on the ground but no gain on that one just Nowhere to Run not a lot of wiggle room for the ball carrier this defense came in knowing that they had to match their physicality let's see if they can keep it up third and long and he'll try to throw for it going to try to get it himself and he is not going to get there as the defense gets him on the ground this would have been a massive field goal try from 55 yds out instead they'll go for it and try to convert on fourth down complete and looking for enough for the first down and the defense able to drag him down but not before they'll recycle that down marker and that is the advantage of having versatility at the running back position right it's Fourth Down everyone in the stadium thinks he's going to get the hand off but because of his ability to catch the football he's a weapon in the passing game and on a critical down distance like that comes up with a huge first end fires left all kinds of room to throw that one in there he's there to make the stop but not before he sets up this offense first and goal from the seven and there was no question in that scenario that's where the quarterback was going he knew he had his receiver in a matchup that he liked running a route where he would find himself opening nice job between those two they'll run it on first and goal and he Sprints to the end zone touchdown Panthers and this running back is so dangerous down close to the end zone he's got wiggle he's got great vision and burst and he showed all of those attributes right there on to attempt the try splits the uprights so a drive there of 82 yards and he found his way to the end zone from the seven to cap it all tied up and just about set to kick it away the returner will field it and try to do some business nice job executing all the assignments as they put a stop to that return at the 22 line gets set first down the offense showing motion from the tight end trying to get a read on the D he leaves it with his back defense there to stop him after a gain of one to the 22 Run game is good balance is good now listen if the Run game isn't good then you got to pass the football a little bit more but sometimes you got to keep them honest take them chunk by chunk didn't get much on first down down it's second and nine looking for a man it's Kane unloads to the Wi out and he had it for a second but it just dribbled out of his hands hopefully that's not going to affect the quarterback's confidence going back to this guy later that was a catch he should have made he dropped it let's see what the QB does moving forward they couldn't connect on second down now staring at a third and nine from the gun wants to pass and the pass rush is effective and they tackle him at the 19 when linebackers Blitz not only do they have to be able to beat offensive lineman but they're going to have to beat running backs and tight ends you've got to have moves in your repertoire and that linebacker showed that there and the yellow PS line up to punt it away this will be the second time they've had to kick it away makes a move he was hoping for a little more Running Room but they're able to get him down at the 45 guys the Georgia state offense returns to the field how big is this drive scored a touchdown the last time they had it defense gets a stop and now it's up to them in a tie game all right so if you're the offensive coordinator here let's dial it in who are your best matchups and best Playmakers to take advantage of this golden opportunity yeah and I'm interested to see this defense too like the momentum is clearly not in your favor how do you get it back how do you make a big play do you be more aggressive here to try to get the football back to your offense the inside hand off that's what you expect from a senior don't give them any extra yards great tackle there you know I think a big part of this isn't NE necessarily scoring a touchdown on that play but you're just trying to get your offensive line in the rhythm of the game let those Big Fellas get lathered up how bold will they be on third down after that last run looking for a man it's Gibson can't make the connection on third down thanks to that tough hard-nosed pass defense and now it's Fourth Down Georgia state will send out the punt unit let's see if he can help the coverage team out with this one a fairly short distance here toward the sidelines not his best work the Georgia Tech offense rolls back onto the field they just didn't quite find the Rhythm on that last Drive Jesse they had to punt it I think they got to be more physical David I think up front they got to do a better job getting blocks in establishing this running game and how easy does football become if you're the more physical team if you can threaten the run and then then run play action it opens up the whole offense at your disposal got six on first down now a lot of options on second and four he's looking to throw finds the tight end and they'll finally get him down after a terrific pickup that throw and catch a really good example of why coaches don't want a quarterback to get stuck on a particular Target isn't it David yep that's exactly right find the guy who's open because you got so many guys that have so much speed that can do so much damage on the field find my matchup get it to him let him do the rest pulls it and fires to the left didn't pick up a lot there moved it Forward just a few you see it more and more smaller wide receivers I don't care about their size anymore I put them in the slot I let them get a good match up they're so quick people can't get their hands on them they make plays and I feed them the football these are guys that have a lot of catches throughout a season moving the running back forcing the defense to adjust I don't think that's the way they drew it up incomplete third and long from the 42 if they can get some of it it might give them a chance to go for it on fourth down Dan is way to BU time he'll try to do it himself and there were some collisions in there and the D finally stops him short of the marker this is why third down is so difficult for quarterbacks because the defense substitutes they put faster guys on the field and they've got all of their different exotic looks they've been game planning all week for some things you have seen on film yet and it confuses your offensive line it confuses you and you're out here just trying to make plays trying to do something right to get a first down wasn't able to gain a lot there and the punt will hit at the seven and they can't Corral it it goes into the end zone it'll come out to the 20 here's the handoff just ran him over and he broke one tackle on the way to a solid pick up there this defense has got to get better at tackl in the open field G tack because if you need three or four guys to bring a guy down have fun with that after the nyd pick up on first down here's second and one they'll ride the running back and leave it with him tackle is made after the first down it's been punch counter punch throughout the early part of this game as we take a look at the first quarter stats they fought to a stand still in the first let's see who gets the edge early in the second here's this offense with a fresh set of downs they'll run it from the gun able to SC three yards out of that one somehow it's second and seven and the running back didn't get much there nice job by the defense you can tell they're focused in on this running back on this run game being physical getting knock backs and limiting his carries got three on first down it's second and seven now he's looking to throw it nowhere close on that one as he got drilled trying to deliver the football and now they face third down he didn't have a whole lot of time to get rid of that one the defense was all over him right after the snap no wonder that thing fell in if they can convert here that type of play can really give you a shot of momentum on third down going up top snagged in the middle it's Bush and they'll pick up the first down and Mark it at the 47 wow and what a great job by that quarterback finding his open receiver on third down you know guys one of the most telling stats at the end of the game is third down conversion percentage if you're a great third down team it's invaluable to your offensive success and that's why teams drill third down so much in practice scanning the field it's Gibson got his man quickly they make the stop trying to pick up just a little bit at a time to get to that first down marker well they're running the curl route against his own coverage so the quarterback knows he's going to have to put that one on his receiver you saw the velocity and the arm Talent this guy has that was a missing more to go after that last completion they'll try to pick it up on second [Applause] down the give to the tail back really nice stop there from this senior leader they've been able to control the ball this is the seventh play of the drive it's third and three they'll try to get the first through the air throws for the tight end makes the grab ripping through the defense and getting it all the way down to the 24 yd line and a really good job by the quarterback being very decisive he saw his matchup he went for it he attacked it got the positive game I would say he's going to find that guy a few more times today and the Panthers moving quickly to the line [Applause] off the play fake on first down to throw gets it out fast and a good job in coverage there as they stop it after just a few this quarterback right now is in a Groove and he's doing a nice job increasing he's reading the coverage and he's getting an idea of where he wants to go with the football that's why the ball's coming out of his hands so quickly that's why he seems like he's in a great Rhythm right [Applause] they'll Run play action unloads to the right and into the end zone he goes touchdown Georgia State they'll try to add another to their lead and the pat gives him a 14-7 lead they put together an 81 yd drive and they finish it off with a touchdown toss from the 23 the kickoff about to go to [Applause] work he'll start the return inside his spot didn't find any crease in that kickoff coverage and he'll be stopped at the 17 the rambling wreck offense rolls back onto the field a little pre- snap eye candy for the defense looking down the middle a strike downfield oh look out there he goes and they were looking for a play and they got it the explosive picks up more than 30 well after that last play you can see how electrifying this guy is and how special he is after he makes the catch if I'm on offense I'm trying to find a lot of ways to get him touches in this game [Applause] they say it's still a game of field position and that last one just flipped this baby they've got it first and 10 in the Red Zone running back goes in motion they're looking to pass from the Red Zone oh almost intercepted they took a shot on first down and just about turned the thing over and that is is a huge missed opportunity for the quarterback you've got your guy wide open in the end zone you're not under pressure you just got to hit him that ball got away and that's one he'd like to have back operating in the Red Zone here on second down looking to throw it's King right on target this time they'll Mark him down at the two the excellent execution on that throwing catch really nice job by quarterback and wide receiver this why you do film War this is why you throw on air all off season I know I get Zone coverage I know exactly where I'm breaking I know exactly where to deliver the football nice throw nice catch the yellow jackets trying to cash it in on first and goal they're going to run it snowed under by the defense second and goal for the offense running play to the left here looking for the End Zone going right back to the well and this time he finds water gets it into the end zone for the touchdown Precision blocking up front created the open Lane and the running back followed it beautifully yeah it's pretty easy to follow an offensive line that makes those holes and just gives you a caravan way to the end zone what an unbelievable job blocking up front now they'll line up for what they hope is automatic smashes it through for the pat a very efficient five-way scoring drive and they finish it off with a short Plunge Into The End Zone and we're all square as he set to kick it [Applause] away on the run from inside his own five and the returner runs out of real estate as he goes down Georgia State takes over ready to send out the offense these two defenses have had their head spinning here in the first half and now we might even see a little more scoring with this drive it's going back and forth this is like two heavyweights just trading blows David what do this defense got to do to get a stop here I tell you what man when you're giving up points like this and you've got no momentum you got to find somebody that can make a play to create something and listen if you're if they're scoring anyways let's be aggressive let's Blitz more let's let's make sure we're making them feel this comfort in some way shape or form fires to the wide outs it in he's right out of bounds but a big play on that one and it'll be a first down well reee you and I were talking about this before the game how is this defense going to be able to deal with all the speed they have offensively you saw them just rip off a big play and Jesse now their head spinning just a little bit give up a big chunk play and it's right back at [Applause] him he'll keep it himself they'll rip off eight on that play it's second and two how easy was that I mean when you got a quarterback that can run design runs like this and get you five plus yards just and make it look that easy cow it makes it really hard for the defenses to stop this offense has a second down Play Motion trying to get the defense to show his hand grabbed in the middle it's Thompson good job running that route to get past the sticks because he got nothing after the catch it's Georgia State offense ready to go with another first [Applause] down to the air it's Gibson it's complete on the right side he brought down but he went backwards after that completion not the way they had it drawn up it's so nice as a quarterback when you've got a guy like that working for you in the slot he has such a good feel to find the Open Spaces in the defense just makes life so much easier for his quarterback let's see what they've got on second down he's looking to throw with the catch it's Hurst good solid pick up there now they can start to smell it with a first down at the 31 and listen you get Zone coverage and you can hit that curl route and he comes open continually keep hitting it this might be a play to come back to State ready to go with another first and [Applause] 10 he's looking to throw it unloads to the Wi out and it's incomplete if you're going to take a hit like that you might as well hang on to the ball my job is to make sure that ball comes loose and I got to go through that guy use my shoulder pad drive my feet really really be physical cuz he bobbles it at all as soon as his hand gets to the ball you can tell the difference that body jerks forward and that ball starts to come loose and pop out they'll get him on the ground after a pick up of three to the 28 I'll tell you this is a running back who's very very dangerous and the defense did a good job getting him down there but they got to do a great job game tackling because this is a guy that can break tackles and turn those types of plays into home runs a little less room to work with now as the ball is at the 28 and it's third and long fires to the right he's got it and still on his feet they make the tackle but he's got a fresh set of downs and it's first and goal from the seven man this quarterback is having a first half he's over 200 yards already heating up setting up this dude might break his career high in passing I don't know what it is somebody get stats for Georgia State comes to the line with a first and goal back to throw it's Gibson and that's just a flat misfire not even close to his receiver defense rose up deep in its own end on that last play now a second and long coming free snap motion quarterback trying to get a read got it they will score touchdown Georgia State one of the reasons this offense is so exciting to watch they've got guys that are dangerous after the catch if this quarterback gets through his progression David he hits you in stride these guys will take it to the house man it's your job to do the rest right you hit me in stride where I don't have to stop running I don't have to break down and makes it so easy the connection between quarterback wide receiver you can tell this is a good one and that's why they got six on that play lining up to tack one more onto that lead and the extra point is true and they're on top by seven almost ready to kick it away after scoring the touchdown he'll bring it out from inside 10 he was looking for some Running Room but not much to be found as he stopped at the 18 Georgia Tech has the ball back and here comes the Yellow Jacket offense catch in the middle it's Singleton he's brought down quickly minimal gain there still a bit short of the first down my old coach said you never go broke taking a profit take what's there take the positive yards and never complain right on target with with that last pass now it's second and [Applause] medium here's a quick throw out to the left and they make the tackle but he has plenty for the first down quarterback and running back set up in the pistol leaves it with the running back defense there to stop him after a two- yd gain to the 31 the Run game just has not been working for this offense all game long you saw it on that last play as well just not getting enough push up front on the offensive line they haven't been physical enough after picking up a couple it's second and eight looking to throw it's Kane Danes away again and he delivers the blow and he's still running a huge play and they get it all the way to the 45 yd line well there's a great example of the receiver working back to his quarterback on the curl route against man coverage he drives back towards the football makes the catch and gets the first down and the yellow jackets want to crank the tempo using his legs it's [Applause] haes they bring him down and he's going to lose a yard on that one they're trying to run the ball on first down guys but just nothing doing up front their offensive line got blown up on that play there was nowhere for that guy to go lost one on that last one it's second and 11 they go right back to him that's what you expect from from a senior don't give them any extra yards great tackle there man down on the play as the officials take a break to let him be checked out they line up with some serious work to do if they want to convert this one on Third and long he has to throw for it got it set up on the outside they finally get him stopped but what a good job by that front wall set up the screen and create some lanes for their running back lots of good stuff on that play you slow down the rush you get a completion and you move the chains and most importantly you're right you don't force a short yarded situation that you have to get nice job invite that Rush up the field take advantage of the aggressiveness of the defense make the catch make the Run get the first down tough sledding there as he picks up one to the 29 and you want to run the football that's okay you'll take some of these but if they start to add up down the road obviously you might want to think about airing it out a little bit didn't get much on first down it's second and nine trying to make that Rush think on the draw play here they wrestle him to the ground but he's got plenty for a first down man who says you can't run up the middle anymore right everybody thinks I got to make big plays I got to go way out to the left way out to the right way out in space nope right down the middle nice blocking how about the running back you could tell the speed the wheels does a great job getting down the field making a huge rushing play from the gun the ground game not a whole lot of room there three yards maybe second and seven this defense just can't get off off the field the offense Unstoppable they think there's room to run to the right here made a little something out of that Ronnie picked up a couple down to the 14 they'd love to pick up this third down and get a fresh set with first and goal the playaction fake into the end zone and it's caught touchdown George attack boy these offenses are just making it look easy defense optional in college football nowadays so many weapons so much speed on the field so hard to defend defense I I don't know how you play it I really don't just try to get a stop beg for one please lining up for the pat hit that one with some aggression for the point after they put it in the end zone with a 12pl scoring Drive and they top it off with a 14 yd pass for the touchdown after that latest answer tied things up just about set to kick it away again the returner will field it and bring it back and they'll bring him down to get the offense started on the next Drive looking for a productive play on first down he's going to pass nice defensive play to get a hand in there and knock it away well I know that one fell incomplete but what a day this guy has had throwing the football multiple touchdowns and he's done a really nice job with his decision making hasn't thrown any picks which has really helped keep this offense on schedule second down here and maybe they've got time to get one more snap off before the two-minute warning looking to throw it's Gibson he's got him this time you throw a little hitch rout let do getting the ball out of his hands quickly wide receiver back nice job being on the same page nice completion nice catch passing game very effective on second down what about here on third they'll try to pick up the first through the air quickly complete and he was just a couple of steps away from taking that one even further after the catch it's tough on the defense there third down you're in Zone coverage everybody's watching the quarterback and you're trying to make a break on the ball but he just got it out of his hands too quickly and the throw was too accurate really nothing you can do there and it's now a fresh set of [Applause] downs they want to just keep throwing it caught in the back field it's Beasley and he'll be run out of bounds behind the line of scrimmage not a very productive play there line getting set on second down he's looking to throw he makes the connection several Defenders get an assist on that tackle the offense uses a timeout to stop the clock and they'll get a quick breather and offensively I love running these drag routes I me these are the rout whether it's Z whether it's man they're so successful it's just about seeing what the defense is doing and getting it to him in open space nice job the wide receiver have some space after the catch able to go make extra yards nice pitch and catch defense did a great job third and short on the opponent side of the field they're expecting quick throw everybody they dug their heel on the ground they're able to break on the ball Force the incompletion Georgia state will send out the punt unit he'll try to really get into this one catches it at the 15 was looking for more Running Room but found nothing but more tacklers he's down at the 24 the Georgia Tech offense rolls back onto the field back to pass it's King using the quick game the offense will have to use its first timeout of the half it's a nice job running the end route there by the reer and the best thing he did after he made his break he didn't Trail and fade away he actually attacked the football that's a good lesson for young receivers out there watching he's going to take off Midfield he's got R and he was loosing in the open field and on his way a tremendous pick up on that one I mean these quarterbacks nowadays can run so fast think about who you've got chasing them defensive linemen those big old defensive tackles defensive ends linebackers they can't catch him because they're faster than them nowadays so much speed so much electricity now with these guys they'll throw it on first down just too much of a rush and down goes the quarterback just behind the Midfield stripe at the 49 just a great job defensively making him go through his progressions and he really didn't have time to do it and that's exactly what you do in zone coverage you droing your spots you read the quarterback's eyes make sure you take away that quick stuff and a great job rushing the passer and getting the sack this is a third and long looking downfield and he needs a bunch and the third down pass is incomplet every defense in the country talks about getting offenses in predictable third and long situations where I can bring on more speedsters and I know the pass is coming so I can have more success the yellow jackets send out the punt unit he's going to try to flip the field with this one no return possible on this one it goes out of bounds and they'll mark it right around the 30yd line guys the Georgia state offense returns to the field trying to find his man on first down grabbed over the middle it's bus the offense calls timeout it's the second one they've used this half and I think you're seeing these guys in every offense now these little guys that they're so quick it's hard to get a hand on them run Chris brouts you can throw it short you can throw it long but they're just big time Playmakers you've definitely seen an emphasis shift towards smaller wide receivers with some serious skill the offense quickly calls timeout to stop the clock I like the slot receiver because he gives his quarterback a good option working the middle of the field he's a nice weapon in this offense looking to go up top on first down pressure coming the Freshman able to get home with the sack and just nowhere to go with the football for that quarterback the defense in a nickel they had extra DBS on the field doing a nice job in the back end covering receivers able to get open first half in the books time now to join Kevin Connor in our halftime update gentlemen what else is new a really rockus environment there in Atlanta toughest job inside that Stadium right now might just be the scoreboard operator after all those first first downs and touchdowns big plays have defined this one thanks to two of the best receiving core in all of college football let's see if these defenses can adjust and make the necessary chess moves with that said let's send it back to the fifth oldest venue in college football Bobby DOD Stadium ready to start things here in the second half State about to kick it away on the move from inside is five he was looking for more Running Room but none to be found as he stopped at the 23 the rambling wreck offense rolls back onto the field off the play fake on first down wants to throw those two not on the same page it's incomplete that's a ball that this offense should be able to complete they had the coverage they wanted receiver ran on the route just an inaccurate throw by the quarterback second and 10 after the previous play they'll leave it with him into a massive giant bodies we'll call it a one yd gain to the 24 third down conversions are a huge stat and this one would be a doozy if they can pull it off back to throw it's King the sweet feet keeping the play alive and couldn't quite find the crevice he needed to pick up the first down yeah and the QB decided to take it himself he got a little bit of pressure you could see and decided to take off scramble and couldn't get the first down and now it's Fourth Down decision time no matter where it is on the field or what the distance is you know there's a chance we still might go for it another punt on the way got to make sure those hammies and glutes all activated don't want any muscle PS from overuse and he'll work his way on the return out to the 35 yd line before he stopped coming out on first down with the play fake fires to the right it's complete he will out of bounds but not before the big pick up and a first down for this offense throwing the comeback looks like such a simple throw but the timing is so important and as a quarterback man this is all about trusting your guy you know exactly where he's going to sit it down you anticipate it you throw it you know he's going to come back and make that play for you looking to move it through the air and this will be incomplete a big hit there forces second down the big tight end tries to make a catch and you could tell extends for the ball but great job by the defender getting in there making the hit dislodging the football out as the same time as he's going to catch it and the big tight end couldn't hold on to it they'll spread the defense out going five wide on second and 10 he's looking to throw quick strike complete on the move at the 30 and good blocking in space out there to give him enough room to pick up the first down the Panthers come to the line with a fresh set of [Applause] downs gets it out quickly he's just winning that matchup in the slot every time and when you put him in the slot Reese's closer to the quarterback it's an easier throw we can run in we can run out and really take advantage of his versatility of the guy that slot position Georgia State now has it in the Red Zone trying play action coming after him he's got touchdown Panthers and with that they've got the lead here in the second half these two have spent plenty of time together that was almost telepathic David no doubt and quarterbacks and wide receivers throw all off season to get on the same page you can see he hits him in stride that's why he gets the touchdown they'll try to add another to their lead and the extra point makes it a 28-21 score a very efficient five Place scoring drive and the Capper a 19 yd toss for the touchdown kickoff team has the ball teed up in there about ready to go here he comes from inside his own five nice job by the kickoff team everybody stayed in their lanes and they'll stop him at the 16 Georgia Tech has the ball back and here comes the Yellow Jacket offense got his man quickly building momentum picking up a chunk of yardage moving the chains out to the 34 well we see another catch by this guy this defense is going to need to do a better job of tackling the catch in coverage I know they want to slap the ball away but if you can't do it and force the inet you've got to at least make sure you're able to drag him down to the ground as soon as he catches the ball looking downfield it's King floating away trying to make magic with his feet and he gets it just beyond the line of scrimmage before he gets down you see a lot of quarterbacks get in trouble when they start forcing things he did a really good job he wanted to throw the football you could tell drops back nothing open it's okay I'm just going to take off get what I can get they'll operate out of split backs off play action the sweet feet byy a little time and he scoots his way to the first down and then slides to avoid the hit nice job by the QB sitting back in the pocket you can tell he wants to throw the football go through his progressions nothing home take off and slide I love the slide at the end don't take a big shot the offense will put it in play from the 47 on First and 10 they move the tight end all over off the play fake on first down to throw got it in the middle it's Singleton he gets it to the 31 yd line a big play for this offense and a nice job working the middle of the field I think it's so important to keep defenses honest and you can't just Dink and dunk outside you got to work the middle great job finding this wide receiver of the Middle Field and the yellow jackets headed quickly to the line they'll try the Run find inrease at the 20 and he's brought down after a nice game first down physicality wins football games being able to run the football and create balance and right here just chews up another first down giv another chance to maybe continue to run the football and I feel like this guy too is just an explosive play waiting to happen his vision his quickness and he's got a burst if you give this guy just a crease he's going to hit it and right now he's doing some damage on this defense nowhere to go and the ball is loose now the defense has got it and they're going the other way and they'll get him down after a solid return well this defense is able to put out yet another in a late in the game David where they're up nice job and great effort creating that turnover and it's a great stop by the defense they they drove the ball down the field a little bit but more importantly now I gave the ball to my offense you go finish this thing we're up it's late in the game now it's your turn to go you put some points on the board you take some time away we can put this thing out of reach from the gun leaves it on the inside with the back just working and poking and prodding and finding his way up up to the 36 listen you you got to be able to know what play to call and what hole to go through like the line blocks for a certain hole good job getting through the hole getting what was blocked getting a nice positive game making your situation really good on the next down the big pick up on first down leaves him with second and one wide receiver shows motion dropping back it's Gibson working the middle of the field and it's complete and they pick up just a few on that completion using him out of the slot he has just been Unstoppable and I love putting Dynamic athletes in the slot that I can move around that I can put in motion that I can I can make him go in or out I can put him off the ball so you can't get hands on him and they've really featured this guy today now on the option he's dropped behind the line of scrimmage that'll be a loss of three Georgia state will send out the punt unit they've been busy out there to punt for the fifth time today he'll get away another punt he's been really active today and no doubt he's going to earn his varsity L the Georgia Tech offense rolls back onto the field when you're playing from behind you can't afford to give it up the way they did the last Drive David no doubt you cannot give the football away again turnovers the biggest stats in winning and losing games you're behind Palmer take care of the ball but we got to go get a score here yeah and they just got to do a better job executing I like the game plan so far for them but they just need to go out and do a better job connecting the dots and here comes the offense on second down pulls and fires it complete to the right at the 40 there he goes he flips his field in an instant and he's got him set up at the 20 how nice is it as a quarterback when you don't have to throw post routs to get great stats no I can just throw it quickly to one of the fastest players in the entire nation and let him burn this defense the yellow jackets want to move [Applause] quickly looking to pass inside the Red Zone receiver looks it in it's complete the stop is made but this offense is threatening first and goal from the nine man this quarterback's been in a nice Rhythm all Drive hasn't he he's just playing on time he's making good decisions he's now got the offense at first and goal I'd let him throw it down here he has earned that right they've really got this offense humming just a fourth play of the drive and it's first and goal and it's incomplete if you're going to take a hit like that you might as well hang on to the ball and there's so much for a quarterback to think about stick it out in the belly do I pull it now when I pull it oh I got to get my feet set make an accurate throw to the right guy so a lot of things going on and I think that you saw that led to a little bit of inaccuracy defense rose up deep in its own end on that last play now a second and long coming gets it inside the 10 picks up a yard they'll mark it at the nine and this offense trying to be physical inside the 5 yd line I get it but I tell you what Palmer this quarterback has earned some trust for me with the day he's had yeah right now he's thinking put the game in my hands I'm playing well and I'm seeing the defense well I see what they're doing from a coverage standpoint count on me and the heat gets there and they get him down at the 14 yd line this is one of the reasons I love this linebacker he is an outstanding pass rusher he's got speed he's got quickness and Agility to avoid the offensive lineman running backs and tight ends on his way to the quarterback now on fourth down they'll try to come away with three absolutely perfect [Music] so after the made field goal they'll kick it away and rely on their defense and he takes this from inside the five and they'll get him on the ground as the offense comes out to start the next Drive Line gets set first down he wants to throw got the Quick Pass and he'll step across the sidelines after making a good gain on that one I love the anticipation on that throw by the QB on the out route you got to throw it before the receiver comes out of his break nice work second and short now after that completion to the air it's Gibson complete brought down at the 31 after a pick up of 10 yards on that one well when you're running the C route against Zone coverage as a QB you know you've got to get the receiver the ball quickly this quarterback has a cannon for an arm he showed you on that last throw and the offense picks up the first down it's first and 10 from the 31 they'll run it out of the shotgun and maybe they want to try somewhere else because there is nothing doing in the middle of this defense stopping the run is about physicality it's about I'm bigger than you I'm stronger than you up front really nice job by the defense showing their strength bowing up stuffing the Run they got nothing on the last play it's second and 10 is looking to throw and the defense is all over the quarterback and down he goes yeah and the quarterback didn't have a chance I mean when you get to the QB that fast Jesse you're still processing information for goodness sake and you're getting to the side line whenever this drive is over you're asking for help from your offensive coordinator you're asking hey can we slide our offensive line and help out blocking this guy can I get a tight end to stay in maybe get a chip on this dude because I'm not feeling to comfortable right now back there knowing that we're trying to only block him with one on Third and long hoping to throw beyond the sticks and it slips through his fingers incomplete that would have been a huge game if he could have held on well in the first half this offense was up and down the field it seemed like everything they were dialing up was working and here we are in the third quarter and there's a very rare incompletion on their own end of the field maybe that's the play the defense needs now to spark some momentum fourth down and the punt team sends it the other way this is a spot you see many returners try to take a chance but not this time the fair catch just inside the 40 they'll give it to the back a solid pick up there before the defense is able to make the stop keep pounding away at this defense and make them play the run if you can get this many a chunk they're going to have to Comm more guys to the Box more guys to the run then you open it up for the passing game 6yd pickup on first down leaves him with second and four the give to the single back he's knocked down in the back field he'll lose a couple they're trying to run the football there's just nowhere to go for the ball carrier inside he tried to bounce it to the outside that linebacker way too fast he met him there and forced the tfl let's see what they find in the playbook for third and long from the 43 dropping back it's king and a missed opportunity on third down as the defense knocks it free and fourth down is coming up love the effort on defense that time that looked like that was going to be a completion downfield but the physicality of the defender Jarred the ball loose and the yellow jackets will call on their punt team they're up to a half dozen kicks today boy they had a chance to track that thing down but it bounces into the end zone for a Touchback Georgia State takes over ready to send out the offense hand off from the shotgun and he's a real Nowhere Man tackled in this no gain land stopping the run is very high on every defensive coordinator list making the team one dimensional nice job stuff on the run on that play right there got stuffed on first down it's second and 10 wide receiver coming across in motion off the play fate gets it out fast they're able to get him stopped just shy of the first down marker I think this receiver's Forte is his route running he's a guy that can line up all over the field just catching post routes and goes this guy can run shallows he can run Slants he can run the option routes and find soft spots in the defense this guy really has all the routes in his toolbx they'll try to move the chains on the ground they're able to make the stop but not before Georgia state has a first down yeah a nice job dialing up that short yardage situation play call there David they needed one yard they picked up two yeah great job up front great job by the back knowing where they need to go nice having a hole you can get through and not have to just do it all on your own as a running back and the Panthers will snap it on First and 10 to the air it's Gibson firing to the right complete a really nice job by the quarterback putting some extra heat on that throw as a defensive back I'm going to drive to that Cur try to get there really quick to try to break up the pass but when the QB puts it that hard on the money with that much accuracy really hard route to defend picked up some yardage with that completion now second down C in the back field it's Thompson to the 43 yd line and a first down for this offense the Panthers are moving quickly down the field they'll throw it on first down and he dropped it it looked for all the world like that would be a catch and he just got too excited well I don't know if the big fella got freaked out cuz he was so wide open on that play but that is a catch he has got to make for his quarterback the incompletion on first down leaves him with second and 10 from the [Applause] 43 power fo fo ball with the run really nice stop there from this senior leader I never know if it's grammatically correct to say a team is being out physical you hear a lot in football though that's happening in this game they are just not getting the push they need all game long up front to have any success when they decide to run it the D thinking bring some heat on Third and long from the 44 caught over the middle it's Thompson and they exploited that soft spot they get it down to the 35 it's all about critical downs and distances on defense you want to be great unit defensively you've got to be good on third down and in the red zone for this defense giving up a third down like that that is just a gut [Applause] punch we've been treated to an aerial show by these two guys so far as you check out their numbers not only is the scoreboard on their side but so too is time as we open the fork looking for room it's Beasley makes the tackle at the 31 it's a pick up of five on the play it's a point in the game I think as a coaching staff where you really challenge your offensive line to go win the football game right we've got to lead late we're going to run the football and the defense and everybody in the stadium knows that's what's going to happen can we run the ball down their throats and impose our will that's what this offense right now is trying to do fires to the big fella they stop him almost immediately short gain there and still a little ground cover to pick up the first and that's why they got to keep running the football man because play action is going to be a big part of this game plan you've got to get this tight end over the middle the field vertically and give him an opportunity because you just saw how dangerous he is after the catch Ball's at the 25 they're in field goal range but they'd love to convert this third and short just outside the red zone as they pick up the first down they'll spot it at the 22 Yeah if this offense can keep that rolling if they can keep the physical ground game and continue to add these plays up as they go along long drives eat the clock with the lead this coach will be ecstatic from the 22 on First and 10 the give to the back and he'll pick up one it brings up second and nine defense has to be frustrated the offense keeps matriculating and matriculating and matriculating the ball down the field to the air it's Gibson he's got his man and he's brought down after a nice game yeah and you've seen these cor routes this is a timing route understanding the ball's got to come out of my hand right when he hits the top of that curl nice job by the QB finding him nice catch the analytics nerds will tell you that a four- yd pickup on first down is a successful play Let's see what they have on First and 10 from the gun the running back has it just trucks through it he pushes his way down to the four as they get closer and closer they've got a lead here in the fourth quarter and there's certainly still plenty of football to go but this is where you'd love to control the flow of the game right you want to dictate everything to the defense and you do that by running the football that was a really nice run this offensive line is firing off late looks like they're getting stronger as the game goes on and that is a good sign for the offense and he gets it back to the four yd line and no farther well they want to come out and try to get the Run game established but UPF front defensively they made a play they gave up nothing on that got to find some breathing room if you're going to establish yourself on the ground and there wasn't any that time yeah ree I wonder now if this offense is maybe going to try to get to the perimeter of the field and see if they can use their speed to hurt this defense he makes a grab big gets it in touchdown Panthers lining up to tack one more onto that lead and the extra point is up and good and they have an 11-point fourth quarter lead so the 16-play drive and they cap the drive with a four yd touchdown pass kickoff team is on the field they'll try to drive this one deep he'll bring it back back from inside his spot really disciplined job by the coverage unit to get down there and make the stop at the 19 the rambling wreck offense rolls back onto the field they go to the ground not much there picks up a couple through the 22 pi picked up two yards on that last one they need eight on second [Applause] down to throw it's King pulls it in no chance to run but they still move it forward these guys are called matchup guys they're not the biggest guys on the field but they're going to win short and they're going to catch the ball and they're going to make yards after the catch you can tell those are the type of guys in college football that are starting to get maximized and used a lot more than they were in the past bully ball on Third and short they get him on the ground but not before he gets up for the first down well the good news is is you got the first down running it there on second and short but the bad news is you're down by quite a bit here in the fourth quarter and two three four yard gains aren't going to get it done you've got to start chucking this thing vertically to get back in the game the yellow jackets will line it up on First and 10 might as well run him until they stop him he's got it again they'll get it to the 48 no need to measure it's a first down and David how demoralizing does it have to be for a defense when you know they're going to run it everyone in the stadium knows they're going to run it and still you cannot stop it there's nothing more demoralizing as a defensive lineman because it just it ticks you off it gets in your head you you know that guy's going to come off and smack you and you got to do something about it I think the defense may be time to start committing more guys guys to stopping that run not worrying about the pass as much well good call by the defense there they dialed up Blitz into that running play and the linebacker able to make the stop after losing a couple on that last play here's second and 12 after the run run run now to throw looking deep and that's going to be incomplete going for broke on second down but third Down's coming up well the defense didn't get caught napping there in this situation you know they have to stay alert for the Deep ball yeah so what defense am I going to call I'm going to keep some DBS back deep I'm going to keep my safety a little bit deeper understanding they're down they're going to have to attack down the field I'm going to stick to my passing sets my Niels my dimes got his Man Down field he gets it to the 38 yd line and they'll up fresh set of downs and even though they're trailing here in the fourth quarter they've got a quarterback that can bring them back but they need him now to play his A+ level of football we saw a nice completion on that last third down let's see if he can keep it going on the run it's Haynes and that's a very productive first down play and bringing up second and three they've put this ball on lock down eighth play of the drive coming up give to the back and the defense finally makes the stop after the sweet run and good gain yeah and this offense listen we're in corp speed right we we got to score a bunch of points here we're down we're trailing we got to go fast but we also got to get first downs and that's a nice job sneaking in the Run getting the first down and now we crank the tempo back up down to the 16 yd line it's first and 10 he'll pull it on the read and a good solid pick up there before the defense knocks him down boy he chews up yards D that was really quick really decisive designed quarterback runs are are very difficult to stop and you can tell he's got some ability to make big plays and thank goodness they got him on the ground and it wasn't a bigger play than it could have been going to work on second down in the red zone is still some ground to cover to pick up that first down he works his way all the way down to the three and the defense is reeling and now a big third down coming up down multiple possessions this is one Palmer I'm looking for six I'm not trying to kick a field goal I want to cut into this lead with a touchdown no you got to have it and also considering all that this is four down territory too so you need to identify who are your best players on offense and how can you give them a chance to score this touchdown he steps and powers and works his way they finally get him down at the two second and goal coming up looking downfield it's King buys a little time with his feet he felt the heat trying to get away but down he goes he'll lose a yard or two receivers right now aren't getting open we got to do a better job offensively of trying to create opportunities for them so use motion get some stack releases create that separation slant routes outbreaking routes just give your quarterback a chance and they'll try to bite a chunk out of this lead on Third and goal now the play fake they're trying to get to it and the defense gets loose bringing the Heat and down he goes again that's two plays in a row now I think this quarterback's been a bit too greedy down by the goal line I know you want to throw a touchdown you want to make the Highlight type play but you've got to be smart you got to know the situation you got to throw the ball away if nobody's open and for the second time tonight they'll try out the field goal kicker it is good [Music] [Music] they were able to get a field goal on the board and now they'll kick it [Applause] away he'll bring it out it's Brock nice job by the kickoff team everybody stayed in their lanes and they'll stop him at the 16 guys the Georgia state offense returns to the field the give to the running back from the shotgun he's knocked down in the back field he'll lose a couple well there's a statement by the defensive line first down play expecting run and they just dominated up front beat their one-on ones and force a tackle for a loss after getting knocked back to open this drive it's second and 12 back to throw it's Gibson makes the grab on the left they make the stop but not before he takes a chunk out of what they need to move the sticks this offense is not letting up guys they've got a lead here late and they are still taking shots they're still looking for explosive plays this defense just has not had an answer here all game long line is set on third down on the gun wants to pass couldn't quite haul it in they almost had their first pick here late in the game o that's one of those where you're breathing a big sigh of relief that ball could have been intercepted and worse could have been intercepted and house but offense caught a little bit of a break nice play by the defense but the offense glad to punt in this situation if they want to punt fourth down and the punt team sends it the other way not going to risk a return here he'll make the fair catch Georgia Tech has the ball back and here comes the Yellow Jacket offense and to settle for the Chip Shot field goal last time Jesse they'd love for this one to pay off bigger yeah it just comes down to execution too did a nice job out in the field stalled a little bit once they got down to the goal line so they just need to be a little bit more crisp here yeah and listen I think the first part was the most important part you got to put the drive together first to get down there now when we get down there focused on execution and getting six points looking to throw on second down quickly complete it's definitely the wide receiver's job to create space right so whether you're running a go or you're running a hitch like this right here I got to find a way to push off legally or just create a little bit of space to get some positive yards quarterback stands alone all wide receivers takes it from the gun on third down quickly complete at the 45 on his way got a lot of running room he stopped just short of the goal line at the one an explosive play has him set up and on that third down that play is set up to beat manto man coverage you see the receiver the ball gets thrown out in front of him and he's able to get away from the defender make some people Miss use the speed setting up first and goal and the offense knows the task ahead they're down eight it's first and goal they need a touchdown and the two they'll try to get it in with the Run touchdown yellow jackets and they take it in for six more points wow this offense they have a lot of faith in this running back knowing if they get down into this area of the field he can get it done and he can answer the Bell two rushing touchdowns already for this [Music] offense they got the touchdown but still a two-point conversion short of tying it up late slams ahead he's not going to make it in as this defense comes up with the stop on the two-point conversion to hold on to their lead about to kick it off after punching it in for the touchdown he'll start the return inside his five nice job by the kickoff team everybody stayed in their lanes and they'll stop him at the 16 Georgia State takes over ready to send out the offense they still have the lead here Jesse but this would be a good time to put together a drive you're right ree you can't rest easy right now you just watch the opponent drive down the field and score a touchdown of their own so you've got to answer that here your Playmakers better step up and I don't know what it is about momentum in all the locker rooms in all the years coaching everything you can't quantify you can't measure and the momentum has SW to the other side to get it back after the misfire now on second down they'll keep it on the ground trying to milk the clock he's knocked down in the back field he'll lose a couple defense doing their job getting that last stop and now third in California not a lot of play calls to convert this so defensively let's get off the field now the clock's running we need to give it back to our offense with as much time as possible certain moments in the game you know just a little bit bigger here's one of the big play coming on Third and long throws to the wide out snagged in the middle it's bus and they are pushing the ball down the field a big pick up on that one and the tackle is finally made and they did everything right in this 4minute type situation trying to bleed the clock first you get the completion then you get the first down and you stay in bounds you could not execute that play any better [Applause] he'll do it himself they bring him down and he's going to lose a yard on that one I'd expect we're going to get another dose of the running game at this point even though it's second and 11 they'll ride the running back and leave it with him that's what you expect from a senior don't give them any extra yards great tackle there quick timeout call by the defense stopping the clock to save as much time as possible for their offense this is a big third down if they can move the chains they can just about salt this game away fires to the wide out it's caught down field timeout called there by the defense desperate to get the ball back and save as much time as possible well this guy's been a go-to guy for this offense all game long we've seen that and here on a critical third down late in the game with the lead guess who shows up with another big one that good a most efficient pick up of six first down it's second and four defense uses a timeout quickly trying to get that ball back and preserve time for their offense on second down let's see if they go right back to the run and put this game on Ice movement here from the tight end they'll go right back to him and he's brought to the ground but not before he gets enough for the first down and this offense has got it all working right it's just been is this defense is on its heels can't figure it out a bunch of plays in a row now a bunch of success this offense is doing what they want to do how they want to do it defense is going to need to do something different to try to mix up this Rhythm the quarterback takes a knee for e for e e for for for e e
