MWC Championship! Boise State DYNASTY Rebuild Ep.11

greetings and welcome back good people what's happening it's your boy Uncle Steve once again um we locked in man we uh we at the the midwestern Conference Championship against UNLV which we've already beat earlier this year um so I'm excited for this game man one so we can see where we stand as far as the college football playoffs go um but I'm also excited to get this first year over with get some of these slow dudes off my team and uh and uh bringing some of these recruits man that I've been that I've been heavily recruiting I like these Unis so we going we going to go ahead and ride with these what is UNLV wearing they wearing the white tie with the red bottoms I'm going change it up a little bit although I like these orange and blue too feel like we wear the orange and blue a lot though I feel like we wore the black a lot so we going to rock these regardless let's get it now I don't know how this works again so we'll see afterwards as far as the college football lineup goes I mean College playoff line Frosty here the crowd is jumping I don't know if we still have creu that can lock in afterwards so hopefully winning this game can't do nothing but help our chances Rebels to bring in next year team totally different than this year's team for one because we have a lot more speed uh well going to be a lot younger too it's going to be a lot of freshman um but top- Notch players nonetheless we are kicking off I like that we go a conference Championship on the line right [Applause] now get my chair adjusted right the rebels offense will be the first up today and this quarterback of course Kirk he's the guy that stirs the drink for this team talk about the it directs it out all the scenes the whole I love a quter understands the ins and out I like 15 drops I try the 10 but I feel like the 15 does better we are back in the but I think we're still 3 four after this season anyway we will be to the left gain of two yards now it's second down and eight with the defensive coordinator this week all week telling us about Gap Integrity not giving this running back any Crees at all really sound defense on that play and now the running back's got it again get him good tackle behind the line for a loss of one oh a great job by this defense on the second down run just Stone walled him at the line of scrimmage now they get a chance to really pressure the quarterback here try to get off the field drops back looking to throw for it on third down he pulls it in for a big gain and an explosive play stop finally made AC mid at here we go and that's what happens we play solid defense until third down and then turn around and give up back to throw o to screen pass heed grab me I know he did they call that play he even Brown early on in a football game the offense always wants to try to develop just a nice Rhythm to the offense that time just a simple screen to the running back and they build some confidence on this first drive with a nice play's receiver complete they bring him down but that's a solid gain on the play I feel like this quarterback can make this throw in his sleep it's like clockwork a Cel route against Zone and the quarterback the only thing is he had to fit it into a tight window for that first down completion caught quickly wow finally tackle him down at the Y play that really nice throw here to the slot receiver game we the rest of the defense thatly to the football for that short loss trying for the touchdown on the right side goes backwards losing three yard there well you'd love to see a few more yard here to give yourself chance on third down now here early in this game we get a big third down to see if this offensive line can keep the pressure off the got let's go getting home with the sack it just looked like the quarterback was holding on to the ball that time allowed the defense to be able and then come up with a first sack of the game out comes the field goal unit and he knock it right through the upright it breaks the scoreless tie here makes it three that pass coverage is atrocious chis it's a nice kick here to polish drive with at least three points up on the board feel like there's so many hoes on this team tackled at the 22 I don't even know where to start Theos offense out there for their first possession well it's not easy to narrow down the impact players just a few guys but what do you expect from them today well we got guys that can make plays as well as anybody in the country on both sides of the ball that's why I think this match up is so exciting two good teams great players from the shotgun hand off inside stopped short the marker after just a short game like I see lots of holes offensive line is also another one second down after that previous play quarterback checks the defensive look Mak some adjustments scanning the field it's Nelson pressure is coming it's incomplete that was caused by the defensive pressure and now it brings up third down man you got to love this if your defense Prince on a stre thearter and he got completely grabbed by the safety and they didn't call nothing inco my dude was supposed to be all the way down the field that's the wide receiver coming in he got straight huged dropping back they going to throw for the first down looking to set up a screen pass here and they're finally able to stop him they the defense there the Broncos will have first they came to play so we going to have to play two hand off here from the shotgun pick up the lineer wow and he's tackled right at the 40 yd that's a solid run of seven line here opening up some holes and giving the L back room to run on first down plays like this can open up the Play pick up this for to make that defense think they're going to run maybe play action maybe the ball go Blancos pick up first down yards to keep the drive [Applause] [Music] [Applause] going and the quarterback looking to make a play through the air come on defensive BRS up second down you get a tight end like this and you know he's used to dishing out the punishment but here he's the one that has to absorb the contact and as a result he's unable to hold on to the football second down they're going to throw it the pocket breaking down wow he almost picked that diving come on man well it's pretty simple the defensive line does a great job of getting after the quarterback and forcing him into that incompletion I don't like none of these plays what will the Call be on Third and long now from the 44 that is so slow quarterback appears to be changing the play to the air it's Nelson bringing pressure complete to the [Applause] [Music] tight down but it's a nice game that's a great play by this offense to keep Drive alive and a good find by the quarterback on third down this ain't the same you lb team we play wi this season I tell you what get out pull W only a small game they push me back inside man you know in the era that we live in right now everybody wants to spread the field round try to create space try to create one-on-one matchups and the defense has countered over the years by trying to play out wide but here's a great example the defense has the ability to play wide but still be solid at the line of scrimmage and not give up big run plays defense is coming after him grabs it on the screen oh I had the first down I wi sideways that is the defense is getting pressure on the quarterback they got a little bit fooled here by the screen play nice positive game for the offense so now it's third and short from the 30 chance for the defense to make a play here and perhaps force a field goal attempt try and muscle for the first down way to cut back jamb way to cut back trying to get to the outside set of downs I was trying to get to the outside running there to get that first down to keep this drive alive early in this game the offense really asserting themselves they're not thinking about a field goal they're trying to put this ball in the end zone on First and 10 looking to throw oh Austin and he's out of bounds after gaining decent yard you know they don't pick up the but they do get some positive yards and I really like Get Enough separation to give the quarterback enough room to put it in there and the Broncos are going to cash in this Red Zone trip looks like the QB is changing the play at the line to throw it's Nelson trying to extend the play and he gets it on the scramble that is deflated I really like this call by this offense on second and short looking to maybe take a shot down field nobody is open so instead he's able to just tuck it run and pick up a nice first down like malacha to have a little bit more spe because on a play like that we holding we holding but there is aeny marker out there let's check out this call offense will have to overcome the holding penalty now first down play call coming up how aggressive will it be and the quarterback dropping back not able to hook up there incomplete second and 19 boy oh shoot there was right there and I just missed it quarterback drops back probing the second it's incomplete he took a hit as he threw the football and it brings up a third down can I get this far install don't know that was a bad by the quarterback or a bad route by the receiver they got to get this got no time to throw the ball and it's crazy how some teams we do and then other teams we that could that holding back drops back running back has it on the screen now w screen so here onth out comes the field goal team and this one is right and that will tie the game here I was watching this guy in pregame he has got a strong leg I'm surprised here he's able to put three points up here for the offense so after coming away with three in that drive theye dve to Come Away with three points ridiculous all because of that holding penalty we got to be better I can't soon as IIT we going to get burn see what they can come up this time what is happen the guys up front line up it's first down from the shotgun now here's a hand off inside breaks loose at the 40 big gain moves the ball across Midfield to the 45 offense right to the line playing with Tempo now there's nothing more that helps an offense than committing to that running game and popping an explosive run like this on the ground keeps the confidence of your offensive lineup same with your back it helps everything else that you're doing as an offensive Rhythm now come back with some counters try to take some shots off of play action and keep hammering away with that run game important second down play coming up look give it to the back come on man the junior able to bring him down quickly CH the spread ER over the years has always grown offensively I've been always impressed with defenses that really build their defense to play in space still have an ability to be sound at the line of scrimmage and defend a running game it's exactly what we saw right there and he lobs it deep down the middle thought he caught it good defense good defense I thought he caught that bring the punter onto the field now oh no oh my [Applause] God he hit him but they didn't call it boy don't start that bull [Music] again first down play call how aggressive will it [Applause] be on the run it's jeti they'll bring him down after just a short pick up we going to let that run down to the first we going to have to regroup I mean run that down to the second quarter we don't have to regroup cuz that a going to get the job done at all a competitive fun first quarter we are all even let's check out some of the stats from that first period and after a promising start we hope that both these teams will just continue with more of this action offense getting set for a second down here to begin the quarter the ball to the air it's Nelson go jri good catch boy tackle made after to a solid game to spot the ball at the third four nice playaction call here by this offensive coordinator pretty good run defense get away from that and ifter can make a nice tight throw like this pick up some big yards and tackled after a small pick up there solid run here by this back did a nice job of just kind of finding that lane pick up some positive yards there on First and 10 easy [Applause] calling second down after that run on the previous play quarterback sets up looking for an open man oh good catch Austine good catch he goes out of bounds the keeps churning gets a fresh set of downs well when I tell you I ain't got no time to thr Seline not to step out accidentally wide receiver does a good job here on the route to bring the ball in while on a tight rope they'll hand it offing at second strin I feel like Jamber is getting a lot of tick oh he is wow jambers beat up too okay AST back in here just love watching his back behind that offensive line a nice solid [Applause] game offense getting set up here's second [Applause] down9 out the play fake he'll look to throw it scram around now looking down field the he's got his man in the open field they bring him down but a big chunk of yardage on the play and catch pitch and catch by the quarterback and receiver for a big gain for this offense the Broncos starting a new series here on First and [Applause] 105 trying the run it'ses the tackle there I tell you to be able to pick up a nice game like that those offensive linemen have to sustain their blocks gave them a chance in a really nice game here comes a crucial second down play every yard tough to find down here in the Red Zone come TR give me something give me something on this moving receivers around now before the snap they flip it to him on the Jet Sweep there you go baby touchdown Broncos that's our play right there [Music] bread and butters right there I get somebody was good so it's 90 plus speed running that and that play really going to be dangerous kickoff team let's see if they give the returner opportunity to bring this back good start now we just got to come out here play solid defense again do not get our head with and they' got the returnal came up with the tackle on top of scoring a touchdown they were forced to punt last time can they get this off going finally get some points out of this possession scen pass to the running back Scots out of people be there and then they just be getting can see what the is trying to do here with this screen play but they avoid Disaster by at least getting a few positive yards the defense doing a great job of anticipating the screen here hanging off a block canot get off a block a ni teams figure out they can run on us like that it's going set those blocks up before he's able to get down field for the first down on the ground it's Thomas they tackle him right at the 35 yd line when you can get good chunks of yardage like this on early Downs it just keeps you on leading to more man Third never underestimate the value of consistently getting four more yard of pop like that burn over the middle that's why I don't run manid 4 because I feel like we can't do nothing against man and out of the shot then he hands it off they tackle him behind the line a loss of four run counter play When the linebackers aren't fooled at all this time they get down in a hurry into the line of scrimmage to make that play now it's second down [Applause] here from the shotgun now here's an inside give that's a nice wrap up there by the junior that's how you limit what an offense wants to do this time the defense just W the battle up front of the line scrimmage not giving up any big plays everybody's Gap sound it's really solid defense on that play on third down he drops to throw pulls it in it's white defense will good stain it'll bring up fourth down here comes the pter onto the field and he'll kick it away now for the second time good stop terrible kick looks like they'll Spot It and the Boise State offense is back out on the field let's see if they can keep that passing game going the last position very efficient and precise I feel like he he the ho like he was before I'll take that every single time offensive line does a nice job up front this backs vision and ability to get positive yards by lowering his pads on full display right there second down after that run on the previous play I don't want to overuse it but we have a lot of success with this if they block pass on the jet wow that's a first down though set of downs spot the ball the 40 a nice little Simple Touch pass here by the quarterback def was standing out there unblocked come on man I'm Shifting the blocks them that way for y'all to seal the edge going to say no to moving the chains pin him inside and give me the outside going to run it it's Ah that's my fault try to run inside but nowhere to go well the defensive line does their job eating up those double teams freeing up the backers to make the play that is my fault off getting set second down play here 42 SP SPID pre snap motion from the offense to throw it's Nelson it's a screen pass complete to the running back defense wraps him up after the catch but he's just short of a first down need get out there and get a block man because the defense can get to the quarterback and it also can be covered many times quarterback just throws it away here they get some positive yards crucial third down play after that completion box is looking kind of light can he make it to the marker yes sir brought down to the 46 good I wanted to Jet touch pass that but I felt like that box was super light I had to go on the run that just to be on the sa side feet to the open space making people Miss I just love watching those guys do work short pass finds the tight end they get him down but not before he moves the football to the 32 and the CLK stops now for the two-minute warning a chance to Strat here before we reach halftime and the Broncos with first and 10 here quarterback PR snap adjustments now for this defense here comes a first down pass attempt and it's incomplete even in a first down throw he was under some heavy pressure would be nice to have a block man makes it second down it'll be nice you had a block for you boy I would really like to score before halftime that is my goal pass here comes a Jet Sweep good run tra after a nice pick up on the play the defense has got to do a much better job here of adjusting to the pre- snap motion they just kind of stayed in place and it gave the receiver plenty of room there to make a nice play the bronos are going to cash in this red zone using the ground game here tailb back has the hand off man you know the back gets a lot of the attention here he's a good back I love to see that offensive line win the B I don't like none of these plays man so here comes second down now every play important down here in the Red Zone looking down field looking to set up a scen oh my God brought down to the completion def back a lot of times this can be a tough play to Def BR what are you coming over here in front of me for stupid back but here the defense does a good job of coming off of coverage and chasing down the receiver here we go third down close to the goal line they can still get a first down without scoring and the wi out goes in motion they flip it to him on the Jet Sweep the defense swarms to make a tackle for loss on that third down catch and I want to go for this is call important stage l in the second I should have switched to the Run how about this the off get the ball I like they were sitting on they sat on it but the defense the athletic ability on that side of the ball does a good job bringing him down short of the first down kick right down the M can't any better than that and they add to their lead well they almost put a touchdown on the board but instead they come point was my well the the screen pass blocking was completely time to answer before half and then return starts from inside the five I ran right past stop at the 19 good job by the coverage team here comes the rebels offense back out on the field keep putting cor they do here in the final minute of the half try to get aggressive and cut into this lead we play it safe they'll come out throwing here to start the drive it's a quick grab and it'll go down all they trying to do is get in the field go the off will call a timeout that's their second of the half completion good for first down yardage for this [Applause] offense caught on the outside it's Thompson after gaining some decent yardage a completion sets up a second down play quarterback looking to connect with the receiver here you're sad fellas let's go that's huge a that's huge off will now [Applause] quick nothing is more gratifying for a defense to be able to sit back in Play Zone and still get pressure on the quarterback with your defensive front looking to throw it's O'Neal and he Lofts it toward the left sideline ohes drop would have been a huge talk about playing angles boy cuz he was down but it's about trying to get this off behind the sticks once you get him behind the sticks you can mix up your coverages really affect the quarterback's eyes and kick Miss handled the ball is loose and he'll get there touchdown [Applause] UNLV here comes the point after attempt P up and good they get a little bit closer so an important touchdown just before halftime not much time for the opposing offense to try to answer before the break Fields it just outside the goal line they stop him at the 23 that's solid coverage the offense comes back out there not much time left perhaps just time for a couple thought the screen blocking was dumb that was the dumbest play I've seen by this [Applause] team that's a big game before he goes out ofs that is the dumbest thing I've seen all season up for one more play in the half looking to throw it on first down and he's looking to make a big Play Down field and it's I don't even know where I don't think Mal kiin Connors with our halim update thanks Chris we figured we might get a Mountain West Championship that would have social media buzzing and through two quarters of football indeed that is the case and I get it a lot of coaches will say the difference between winning and losing comes down to stopping big plays and getting big plays but if you ask me it's more about how good you are on third down and how efficient you are in keeping drives alive those two stats can help you break the will of even the best defenses and help you come out on top all right let's get the kick out yeah okay anyway started second quarter second the off will start hopefully we don't do anything here comes the boy State offense back out on the field nearly as dumb as what just happened at the end of that half I trying to maintain my composion cuz right now I want to bite a chunk out this microphone they get the second half started with the running play I just going to feel like either one of my running backs are as quick as they were at the beginning of the season I mean even like last week come out with a nice big gain this defense is thinking oh no here we go again really nice statement here to get this second half started caught behind the line it's joh lineer got pretty good range sideline to sideline that boy is moving pretty Swift involved in the passing game nice catch here pass caught second down now dropping back it's Nelson catch made across the middle by the running back I was have much time that I Tred to get it over the line the running makes a nice catch gets the first in the process and the Broncos will line up on First and 10 go ason go Ashton spin move they tackle him but what a spin move to earn him the first down but here's the first play to start this second half really more the same really no need to make drastic changes what you were doing in that first half gave you the lead just keep working on it they're moving the receiver now before the snap a pop pass on the Jet Sweep make the stop let's go a solid game that time got it the Blancos are in the red zone [Applause] now they'll change the pre- snap look [Applause] now from inside the Red Zone they're looking to throw he's moving out of the pocket [Applause] they got him defense comes up with a sack I want to throw that away the offensive line right at the last minute I thought I might have been able to get the corner because it's almost like you didn't protect your little brother back there oh Malachi is just not fast enough he look to throw it here on second down looking to the end zone boy that was not where I was going but good catch jri cuz that was not what I was looking at good catch that could have been bad that was not what I was looking at your I don't know why I keep pushing triangle go back out and continue to build that to the finish a way to catch that in between the safety and the linebacker huge catch and the extra point gives him a double digit [Applause] lead now the kickoff team is out on the field two score lead let's go this kickside balls tack him at that's good coverage there here comes the unlb offense back out there last Drive stall will forced to pun it away let's see what they can come up with this time begin good open field attack man and he's tackled after the catch the game makes it second and medium the shotgun running play called come on bro tack right at the 30 good enough to move the steps just getting pushed off the line getting set up it's a first down Play That's the thrown quickly caught in the right flat and the defense swarms not much of a gain on that completion love the timing get nervous when I see that hurry uper pick up somei yards to be impressed with just the the chemistry between these two shouldn't have ran I shouldn't have yes sir let's go they'll stop him behind the line for a loss of one well they keep trying to run the foot and they keep getting dominated at the line of scrimmage that has been a theme throughout this entire game we've talked about it earlier in the game it's not changing at all they become onedimensional I it's allow his defense to really lock in on that quarterback feel like they be hesitating on some of these uh SS man what you running next to them for and the returner elects to fair catch it no return back to the Run offense is back out on the field what they run like a 33 possession last time mix theun pass kept the defense off balance they'll stop him behind the line we Ain been able to do nothing in the running game line clear just downhill quickly you know I think one of the great things about watching this guy play all year is his vision he just has a great instincts that time the defensive line ate up all the line freed up the linebacker to get into the back field and the result is a tackle for a loss for the backer and a short pitch and catch to the tight end four yard get down quickly not much of a gain that comption definitely should have been able to get more not much of a window to throw this ball into but the quarterback's accuracy and the size of the tight end picks up a nice game so the offense getting set this is not where you want to be against this defense third and long quarterback adjusting now to the [Applause] defense and he'll drop back here on third down get up field connection to the tight end here they wrap him up after the completion just short of the first down Mark here we go the coach rolling the dice four and one in his own territory using his legs go baby there's the tackle but first down well you can't criticize his for being too conservative can you this guy's going forward on ter you have to have confidence in your offense to be able to execute that and in this case they proved him right somebody over easy to bring down a quarterback finally gets the job done well this is what coaches love to see quarterback with the ability to read the defense properly and then just get it to the open man sometimes it sounds simple but it's tough to execute this time we have good recognition by the quarterback then he gets it down to the tight end you can see what he can do after the catch back to pass it's Nelson gets rid of it on the Move no connection the pass is incomplete got to be able to complete that man got to be aing for a set that offense looking to throw the ball good kicks it in it's complete and they gain just good enough for a first down well this offensive line you got to tip your cap they've done everything you would ask of them in taking care of this quarterback they do it again here on third down working that lead you know the pressure and they deliver offense will keep it on the ground here it's good for a three yd gain I have yet to see hims to be sucessful it's a nice solid gain here keeps you onu and you get ready for that next play offense getting set it's second Down Easy shotgun form here's an inside here we go first down the Jun with run there another nice gain by this back he has had a beautiful day today running the football just kind of in that zone and a big reason why they have a nice lead today here first and 10 that's what opens up everything else we already shot hand off here defense able to continue that up a solid the that's another good run for him he's had such a big part of their success here this afternoon that last carry it puts him over a 100 yards now for the day and the Long March continues offense pushing the ball get this one even though they got the bot St yep here comes hand offun jambers Mak the first that lit up and that's a for a first down don't forget good blocking up front by the Big Fellas and this running backing heavy I say that they are bling he's going to be getting into a rhythm for sure see what the call is on First and 10 receivers now getting some new assignments before the snap play action here on first down buying time now rolling to his left wow he air tried to extend the play but nobody open offense coming to the line they might have a chance for a couple more plays before we reach the end of the quarter looking to pass it's Nelson catch made on the right side brought down short gain what should be the last play of this third quarter so going to the Fourth Man two score lead almost 18 minute time Poss close this game out strong one quarter to go let sets up as a classic finish the long drive continues the offense pushing the ball down the field got run this play all day yes sir that's all I need let's get the first down that's all I need is get the first these guys been up front today big third down know what you need to do get the first down continue to hold on to that lead continue to work clock and get that much closer to securing a victory looking to throw it from the Red Zone running out of time in the pocket that's incomplete even on a first down pass attempt he felt heavy pressure an incompletion makes it second and 10 jri can you get that corner for you boy there's the snap he's looking to throw good catch man finds the tight end for the completion they bring him down quickly a short pitching catch to get a little bit closer to the marker CU that's another nice pick up through the air I I thought they might be really just out to run theot with the lead but instead they're electing to throw the football different routes quarterbacks in Rhythm really it's almost an extension of their passing game off the play Fade looking to throw the football good catch mat good catch bring down but the Freshman quarterback showing off the arm strength oh that one really hurts for this defense they get these guys to third down a chance to maybe get him off the field and they give up a first down late in the game the clock will continue to roll that's what we trying to do is chew this mug up like a fat kid first and goal receiver gets the hand off he runs it in for the let's [Applause] go spin move is lethal [Music] spin move is [Music] Leal that boy planted and spun back to the middle touch D kicking team on now for the extra point an extra point up and good makes it a prescore game in the drive that's what I'm talking about keep the ball out of their [Applause] hands the unlb off back out on the field now I'm just hoping we don't get away last time so let's see if they can get clicking in this possession first play of the ground throw the football quick comp go for the legs def re solid tackle solid open field tackle I really like what this defensive coordinator's doing right now he's got a nice lead to sit back the most important thing is tackling this offense in bounds so that clock will keep ticking there we go everything in front of us come up and Tackle but he's Hamed by the lineer what a hit offense needing to keep this drive alive it's a third down play looking to pick up the first down through the air wide opening out the catch made B carrier heads out of bounds but the pickup is good enough to move the chains first down first down at 10 [Applause] now looking to throw it's O'Neal catch H in here over the middle good enough for first down yardage you see more and more offenses in college football going to three receivers and the slot receiver a lot of times can become the go-to guy he gets mismatches against either safeties a Nickelback or linebacker out you can take advantage of keep throwing that out there keep throwing it out there one of them going to be mine here's the second down play back to throw again H Over The Middle come on man they get him down but the G moves the ball to the on now dog we'll see the defense stays in zone after that big play if they can change things up on this drive and get a little bit more aggressive fresh set of down to the offense first down there's the snap quarterback setting up to throw the sure hands I went to the wrong clicked on the wrong person here they go they field go range now will it [Applause] be off the play fake looking to throw fires it to the got intercepted mistak good pick of Maran defense boy with this quarterback love to have this one back they're trying to work themselves back into this game here in the second half and the defense comes up with a big turnover that could breath na in the coffin realize there 5 minutes left but that's ball game here comes the boy State off balanced Drive reach the end zone last time can they keep it going here it's a shotgun run call some hard running there throw a tackle tackle made after a solid run by the junior well let's see how these guys do here kind of in that 4minute offense mode where they're trying to work as much clock as they can on this drive working with the lead still want to be balanced as best you can but the important thing is picking up first downs keeping the ball in bounds and keep working that clock on first down why not keep it on the ground yes sir solid 8yd gain brings up a second and two hey you got to do what you got to do you got to rely on that offensive line in the running game here to be able to secure a victory good call and just keep working that clock the second down play coming up a heavy box every m off play action he's looking to throw oh on the they overran it complete down field yeah Malachi's arm he just ain't got the arm from the field but I take it how about that we got some speed and that theball and Contin clock you idea [Music] how throw power football with the lead in the fourth quarter completion and you're able to keep that clock hopefully that a jump work the clock here by keeping it on the ground uh he gains n after second and one CU 90 just ain't going to get the
