glad to have you with us in Jonesboro Arkansas Centennial Bank Stadium home to the red wolves of Arkansas state and fans have been fired up for this one all day maybe you need a little caffeine or maybe the sheer energy of this matchup will keep you wide awake as we know anything can happen when you kick off after dark as we'll see a squad from the a see the Tulsa Golden hurricane taking on a team from the Sun Belt the Arkansas state Red Wolves for EA Sports college football I'm ree Davis joined here in the booth by David Pollock and Jesse Palmer and guys let's get this thing started Tulsa will kick off and we'll get this game [Applause] started and they thought about a return Then thought better of it they'll bring it out to the 25 so State's offense will get the first crack at it here and as this star running back comes onto the field everybody in the stadium knows he's going to get it the defense knows it doing something about it is quite a different thing it's hard to stop him he's hard to handle because he can do it in so many ways he can run by you he can run through you he really has the whole package and that's why he's a superstar and that's why they'll feed him early and often great team defense on that run Play Everybody doing their job people winning their one-on ones D linemen staying in their gaps linebackers and DBS filling you just can't do it better trying to make that Rush think on the draw play here crosses the 30 to the 31 A6 yd gain draws are such a smart way to take advantage of fast defensive lineman they want to get up field and get after the quarterback it keeps them honest makes them realize they got to play the run too great call now they'll face third and four in their first possession of the game wants to throw It's rer Quickly out to the tight end he's run out of bounds but he's got enough to move the sticks excellent situational awareness to make the grab and get just enough for that first down and how about the play call they didn't want to hold on the football they wanted to get that thing out of their hand trust the receiver to make the catch and then what does he do gets the first down gets out of bounds new set of downs for this offense out of the gun the running back has it not a whole lot of room there three yard maybe second and seven tried to pound it on first down now back to the line looking for a crease it's cross and maybe he'll get back to the line of scrimmage but no more than that stopping the run is about physicality it's about I'm bigger than you I'm stronger than you up front really nice job by the defense showing their strength bowing up stuff in the Run they've got some work to do on this third and long from the 40 from the gun wants to pass looking to the big tight end he got a hand in there knocks it away incomplete well they try to throw forth there on third down on the opening drive of the game they don't get it but let's punt the ball away let's trust our defense and guys let's also trust this home field advantage and the crowd to get loud and make it real difficult on our opponent fourth down and the punt team sends it the other way fair catch called for and made so Tulsa's offense will try to get something started with their first posession as we take a look at our impact players for this one what are you looking for Jesse for a guy to make an impact well these are simply put the leaders of this football team and generally games go how these guys play if they make plays they've got a shot to win this one no doubt they got to show up the these are the team leaders these guys have to play well if they're going to win the football game well they execute the end route how about the armst strength by the QB that was an absolute bullet on that completion Tulsa wasting no time the run from the shotgun and he finds Some solid makes a the defense is able to him you want to talk about making it easy for an offensive coordinator you pick up a bunch of yards on first down make that second down really really manable that's a great job by the offense nyd pickup on first down and now they can take a shot on second and short out of the gun the give to the back tackle is made but not until he gets the first down and already this guy is leaving his mark on this game opening drive backto back runs where he's found a way to get positive yards he was able to pick up the First on that last carry they should keep feeding him the football the more success they have it's going to open up the Play action game Tulsa comes to the line with a first and 10 takes a hand off it's Watkins able to SCS three yard out of that one somehow it's second and seven stuck with a running game on first down now here they come again out of the gun the inside off looking for a he had to fight for a couple down to the 33 offense breaks the hdle it's third [Applause] down to the air it's Francis throws to the wide out a strike downfield he'll be brought down at the Y Line an explosive play in the passing game has him on the doorstep That's What's So Scary About This offense they've got guys in the perimeter that can change the game in one single play and you saw it right there too much speed on the perimeter to create that explosive play Tulsa will come to the line on first and goal trying to slam in and he takes it to the house touchdown golden hurricane I think what you love about that opening drive for the offense is the balance they were able to throw the football to set themselves up into position and then he carries it in for the TD you got to be able to keep defenses on their heels and they did a nice job of that on this opening drop they'll try to add another to their lead and he's got the extra point and it's seven nothing to start this one 76 yd on the drive for the touchdown and Clos the deal with a three yd touchdown run kickoff team lining up to send this one away and it'll come out to the 25 no attempt at a return Arkansas State ready to go back to work on offense wide receiver now comes in motion on the ground it's cross Works ahead for a couple they'll stop him at the 27 picked up two yards on that last one they need eight on second down they'll keep it on the ground get him on the ground after a four yd run out to the 31 that didn't bust for a long one but now third down becomes very manageable it's not third in eternity now the whole Playbook short passing game long passing game all of it's available how bold will they be on third down after that last run back to throw it's Rainer fires to the tight end love to see these third down conversions on offense and they're out to their own 39 yd line obviously third Downs are so critical because you you get you get an extra chance to wear that defense out great job by the offense right job by the quarterback completing the pass getting the first down moving the sticks fresh set of down continue to wear on this defense they'll go to the ground we'll give him a couple on that one second and eight coming up when with the running game on first down now back at it he'll bull it on the read pass the sticks and he may get more he will step out of bounds but not before the big and a first down for this offense well you wonder how this guy is so Dynamic it's because of his speed you simply can't coach that you saw it on that last car and the red wolves come to the line in the hurry up Jet Sweep to the receiver you'll take this every time five yards on the first down play it's so hard because when they run jet sweeps they don't always give them the football and then you got to worry about other stuff but great job focusing on your keys seeing the Jet Sweep pulling the trigger going and getting the Speedster on the ground and on second down for this offense wide receiver coming across in motion quick pass on the Fly motion brought down to the ground has enough for the first down just went with something very easy very reliable Flip It Forward let your receiver do the rest I only got to get a few yards nice job nice execution first down the red wolves with the first in 10 using his legs it's cross stop is but he picks up four y down to the 21 yd line after the productive first down play it's second and six looking to throw it's rer gets it out quickly tackled but he has a first down and he unleashed the RPMs on that pass man his sophomore has an arm and that's the looking man coverage you can throw the hitch rout against right when the receiver's got a little bit of access so he's got some room to work with against press you're risking a pick six so good decision there by the que knowing that was a good look to throw in there the give to the back can't get him to the ground he rolls all the way down to the 5 yd line before they finally get him sto first down you know you always want to establish the running game how about this offense nothing fancy run the football be physical get a big game and the red wolves trying to get a touchdown on first and goal they'll try to get it in with the run and he takes it in for the score touchdown red wlls an impressive long methodical meticulous Drive ends in points it just matriculated the ball down the field didn't they re so impressive didn't see a lot of explosive plays how about the execution running and throwing the football [Music] wow P unit on the field and it's up and good 76 yd on the drive for the touchdown and they punctuated it with the y touchdown run all tied up and just about set to kick it [Applause] away from inside his own 15 trying to follow his blockers he was looking for more Running Room but none to be found as he stopped at the 23 to the ground with the back get a bit of a surge and he's knocked down picking up three to the 26 got three on first down it's second and seven looking to throw it's Francis quickly to the tight end they get him on the ground but not before he gets enough for the first down love the way he didn't just run to a spot he found the cushion in the zone and got himself open for the first down yeah and you're taught to find that space don't run right into a Zone Defender who's sitting there looking at the quarterback and looking at you so much creativity with routes now and being able to just have subtle moves One Way come back the other way nice job by the tight end finding that hole in his in a strong tackle and wrap up from the Junior after the three yd pick up they come to the line Second and [Applause] seven they'll give it to the back you want to make sure to maximize those types of runs and he gets it out to the 41 and as an offense having success on a run play like that early in the game just opens up all the possib of your playb moving forward play action running the ball throwing the ball screens anything is at your disposal at this point on Third and short they'll try to throw for it quick strike complete oh spender fella and he's loose they'll move the chains good execution on third down they've got it at the 41 when you're a playmaker like this guy is your coaches are going to dial up plays intended for you especially on third down that's what you saw in that last play there was no question where the quarterback was going with that football all week long they decided on the biggest Downs of this game we're going to Target our best player and we're going to make sure that he gets looks it doesn't matter what the coverage is and you saw it right there up man and a really short game before he gets a whole bunch of company from the defense you definitely want to commit to the Run game you you want to establish the Run game you want the defense to honor it but doesn't work a little later down the road you might think about airing that puppy out didn't get much on first down it's second and n on the move it's Jackson they bring him down and he's going to lose a yard on that one how about the defender being a heat seeking missile he was on radar lock he found the football and flew down with some bad intentions a third and long coming up here looking down field it's Francis setting up the screen and the completion gives him a fresh set of downs and keeps this drive moving I was starting to think about what they would do if they didn't pick up the first down here but I guess that's a moot point now moot point for sure and the head coach was probably telling them four down territory we're going to kick a field goal whatever the next decision was going to be and now the OC's like don't worry about it new set Downs nice execution by this offense the give on the inside got it inside the before he's finally pull down at the 25 it's a gain of six I know it's sexy to throw the football but if you can pound it away and get these kind of gains they will just add up wear the defense down get first downs and ultimately get some points 6yd pickup on first down leaves him with second and four from the gun running back to give he's knocked down in the back field he'll lose a couple well that play didn't stand a chance I mean nobody even blocked that guy and he's able to get the tackle for loss third and long coming from the 27 yd line you can make a field goal from here just don't take a negative play run the gun wants to pass fires to the wide out it's complete get out bounds after the big play and they'll be set up in business with a first and goal and they just want to give this guy a chance to make a play on third down and more times than not he is going to deliver he's so good so efficient such a good route Runner got the speed got the complete game so you definitely want to highlight him and especially on those Downs that matter the most if something's not open Quick underneath find him he'll make those contestant The End Zone he goes touchdown Tulsa wow offense they have a lot of faith in this running back knowing if they get down into this area of the field he can get it done and he can answer the Bell two rushing touchdowns already for this offense on to attempt the try and the extra point is true and they're on top by seven they put it in the end zone with a 12 Play scoring drive and they finish it off with the score from the four lining up to cover the kick after that touchdown Drive and it'll be a Touchback the ball will come out to the 25 yd line Arkansas state has it ready to go to work on offense now they need to put something together to answer that last score there's a lot of pressure too on this offense to have to execute at a high level they've got to score points David but they can't go too fast because their defense right now is tied and I think that's the difficulty being a play call like I have to balance all of those things my defense is a little bit tired I can't put on the field but I got to be aggressive because is a back and forth type game so a lot to process and think about last incompletion leaves them still sitting at their own 25 with second and 10 banging slithering whatever it takes to get that ball up to the 32 here on third down looking to throw for it getting some heat and the pressure gets to him down goes the quarterback all right now if you're the quarterback you got to know in this game you better be ready every snap you better know where the pressure is coming from because this defense is going to bring it from all over the place the red wolves will try to pin them back with the punt this will be the second time they've had to kick it away a fair catch taken just inside the 40 yd line and they'll get off one more play before the end of the [Applause] quarter using his legs it's Watkins they make the Stop and that'll bring the first quarter to a close that's the end of thei and Tulsa has the lead one period in the books and let's take a look at the [Applause] stats they are lined up and ready to go and get things started here in the second got a little work done on first down now back to the line from the gun they'll give it on the inside and they'll bring him down but not before he picks up the first down and I don't care if I get it by two by by 20 by 30 by 40 I I just I just want to get the first down understanding the situation understanding where the sticks are doesn't have to be sexy but I got to make sure I get to that stick get to the first down Mark they'll have it at the 49 just across Midfield first and 10 he'll do it himself and a nice run there before the defense finally makes the Stop and that's what I love about the QB Run game in this offense is it just keeps these is off balance we're going to see a lot of running backs doing their work between the tackles in this game as well but you see how mixing in the quarterback run too it just keeps this defense so confused softened him up with a run now to throw grabbed over the middle it's Presley and he almost ran away from everybody on that one a huge pick up on that play if you're going to complete passes throwing four vertical your quart better have some arm Talent you could see the arm strength on display right there he had to fit that football into a small window he did exactly that Tulsa will come to the line on first and goal they'll try to get it in with the Run he's knocked down in the back field he'll lose a couple well the offense is trying to go counter but the defense blows it up and they do it by getting penetration up the midle setting up the tackle for Lo defense R up deep in its own end on that last play now a second and long coming he'll run it up the middle trying to pick his way to the end zone pick up of one it's down at the 11 third and goal coming up [Applause] here dropping back it's Francis looking to the end zone intercepted he goes out of bounds but he creates the turnover and a great opportunity for his offense well the defense comes away with a pick there with their nickel Personnel I think moving forward if you're on offense you see that the you want to run the ball against it cuz you got smaller guys out there or if you're going to throw think about quick screens outside when you have tight ends flexed on the perimeter bigger bodies blocking smaller guys guys we'll see if this red wolves offense can get moving boy three and out last time David they'd like to be more productive this time around yeah in the last Drive nothing really clicked no rhythm got off the field really really quickly they need to put something together here yeah David bad exec on that last drive so they got to take a collective breath and start playing like a unit on this drive got six on first down now a lot of options on second and four keep it on the ground defense in the right spot they stop him after a gain of two to the 28 looking for that first down on Third and short from the 28 they'll try to pick it up on the ground they tried to go Smashmouth on Third and short and it did not work against this defense it's an offense that takes pride in being physical they try to get it going on the ground but no gain on that one does know where to run a lot of wiggle room for the ball carrier this defense came in knowing that they had to match their physicality let's see if they can keep it up a high kick trying to pin them deep fair catch called for but there is a flag on the play we'll have to sort it [Applause] out the officials offer the deal and the coach accepts it they will take the penalty and he drops it just a little too slippery in the hands in football you hear the term quick but don't hurt and you could tell when you run these rpos the QBs want to make that decision quick and he I think he hurried it a little bit too much got the ball out quick but obviously was inaccurate with his pass and after the incompletion on first down this offense looking at second down got the quick he's right out of bounds but a big play on that one and it'll be a first down and a really good job by the quarterback being very decisive he saw his matchup he went for it he attacked it got the positive gain I would say he's going to find that guy a few more times today and the red wolves will have it first and 10 back to pass it's rer he lobs one high down the left side off the deflection missed a great chance to force the turnover instead be second down this is going to be a key that we look at this entire game how can this defense find ways to affect this quarterback and get pressure on him because they felt coming into the game if they could do that they could affect him and influence this passing game they go to the draw pick up a five they'll need five more on third down effective draw plays in the running game really begin with the quarterback the quarterback's got to be a great you got really make the defense think it's pass you keep your eyes focused down field till the last possible second turn around and hand it off and by that point the defensive ends have rushed way up field and there's less bodies for the running backs to have to maneuver around before finally moving forward now well within Striking Distance as that third down play gets him a first at the 29 it's tough on the defense there third down you're in zone coverage everybody's watching the quarterback and you're trying to make a break on the ball B but he just got it out of his hands too quickly and the throw was too accurate really nothing you can do there and it's now a fresh set of downs it'll be a draw they pick up half of it it'll be second and five draws and screens are great way to slow down really aggressive pass rushers it allows the defensive ends and the defensive tackles to run up field the offensive lineman kind of push him up field go down to the next level try to sneak in a big play halfway there on first down it's second and five trying play action makes the catch it's Stevenson they're able to get him stopped just shy of the first down marker I'll say this man in college football you see a lot of bad tackling you didn't see it right there that was an awesome job first off being there at the point of attack once the tight end made the catch there was no doubt he was going down great job form tackle a manageable distance on third down as they try to convert from the 20 dropping back it's rer and that's incomplete a Defender all over him knock the ball to the ground fourth down coming up third and short in college football today you see so much more pass than you used to the offense stays aggressive and I think they stay aggressive because they know they're in field goal range they got that three in their back pocket thought maybe they would consider the field goal here but the offense is staying out there on fourth down and it's incomplete a missed opportunity for the offense on first down here comes this offense here's the handoff and he'll step out of bounds after a very productive play coaches always harp about staying ahead of the chains and when you could run with that type of efficiency on first down man you are doing just that 6yd pickup on first down leaves with second and four they'll leave it with the lone back defense in the right spot they stop him after a gain of two to the 28 here they come trying to convert a third and short from the [Music] 28 trying to pick it up on the ground that just never had a chance as they controlled the middle of the field and stopped him in the back field on third down and the defense was locked in you could tell they saw it they reacted right away got the running back on the ground immediately Tulsa will be forced to send out the punt team great contact on that ball as it just hangs up in the and he doesn't feel it cenly it's Lo these Specialists and these return Specialists they got speed for days but you better hang on to the football I know you want to make big plays those Splash plays that can change games but you better secure the football first unloads to the wide out connection to the right and it is a chunk play a huge gain on that one before the defense brings it to an end play action does so many things when you run the football and run the football and have success it slows everybody down not just the linebackers and the safeties and make them come up but the defensive line they're thinking run as well slows down the pass rush gives me a little bit more time to develop routes and make it really easy on my quarterback off the play fake on first down wants to throw makes a connection he's R out of bounds after the big gain and they are in business first and goal and you've always got to be careful around the sideline to not step out accidentally so that wide receiver did a really nice nice job on that route to bring the ball in while on a tight R the red wolves have it in scoring position on first and goal looking for the score go to the end zone it's picked off and he's brought down after the pick but not before putting his offense in business and that's just excellent coverage man cover one nowhere to throw the football look at everybody playing man across the board and you still got the safety in the middle of the field nobody open and if I'm the QB man I don't need to it I I don't force it into Tight Windows if it's not there he throws it unfortunately gets the interception bad decision by the QB there we'll get another look at this Tulsa offense they'll have another opportunity to extend this lead after punting last time David and it's important to put that punt behind you it's it's over let it go get back to what you were doing that built this lead yeah and defense obviously they won a few Downs uh that last drive so we got to put them on their heels up a few Personnel groupings try to show them some pictures they haven't seen got stuffed on first down it's second and 10 just feeds the running back just gets it to the 28 pick up of one you make up the game plan and not a lot on the sheet for this third and long from inside their own 20 looking to pass it's Francis and the quarterb caugh up two and sacked at the 12 on Third and long you know what's coming it's exactly where you want to get an offense the passing game has to come out you go nickel bring some more speed on the field and the defensive line gets home and gets the sack to force the fourth down Tulsa will be forced to send out the punt team three and out they got stuck in Reverse they hope the punt can bail them out now a fair catch is called for and may just shy of Midfield Arkansas State ready to go back to work on offense that last possession a prime example Jesse of how things get condensed in the red zone and he reels it in inside the 30 and they are finding some space in this defense he's got it down to the 25 well we knew coming into this game this offense was going to try and get this receiver involved and get him involved early so here they are just finding an easy completion it's not a touchdown but they just want to get this guy lathered up and get him into a r the give out of the gun finds a littleit bit of room give him a couple down to the 23 picked up two yard on that last when they need eight on second down off the play fake he's got his man he's close to the first down but they're going to Mark him just a little short I love offenses and quarterbacks that are willing to take the easy stuff take those easy throws that are guaranteed to get positive yards yeah I'm going to take big shots down the field too but don't forget it's easier to pick up second and five third and five than it is when we start getting those long yard situations on Third and short they'll try to pick it up on the ground here and the red wolves get up to Mo Mo the chains well no real mystery there and I think this coaching staff has a lot of confidence in their offensive line to get the push needed to give that back just a big enough crease to fall forward and get the first and it's so hard my room for error is so small when I'm a defensive line like I got to get off the ball as fast I can and try to get some form of penetration just stop that ball from going north south they don't do it there and they give up the first down they'll get it down to the eight yd line on that throw and catch the defense is backed up against the wall well another catch by the big F and hey this defense now in the second level they've got to understand that they're going to see some play action they can't keep biting on the fake it's not easy to do you've got to be aware of the tight end in his release as soon as you see him get up field right now you know it's pass so don't even worry about the fake get your eyes focused and find the big fell to go make a tackle and make a play on the B that's catch by the big Target those big tight ends you could tell in football just more and more of a weapon on every single team the red wolves will try to punch it in on first and goal they'll try to get it in with the run and he takes it to the house touchdown Arkansas State and the running back gets his second rushing touchdown of the game you want to continue to feed this guy you could tell he's got a nose for the End Zone knows get in there knows how to make things [Music] [Music] happen ready to try the point after right down the boulevard that last Drive covered 52 yds on their way to the score and they finish it off with the score from the four and we're all square as he's set to kick it [Applause] away coming out with it it's Benjamin rolling the dice to bring it out of the end zone did not work out as he stopped at the 13 the golden hurricane off comes back onto the field from the gun they'll try to impose their will good surge up front G him four out to the 18 small gain I know but again the defense knows he's going to run the football he's willing to run the football not just drop back and pass make him on to the Run game you got to do a lot of this solid pick up of four on first down it's second and six back to pass it's Francis got his man quickly and he'll go down but he has enough for the first down well they pick up the first against Zone coverage the biggest key there is the quarterback understanding that a it's Zone but B what kind of zone is it is it one high safety is it two high safeties and then you know instinctively where your best throw where your highest percentage completion is based on what type of Zone coverage it's going to be they finally get him on the ground with the big running play moves to change for the first down all right defense that's that's what we can't do we can't give up this many chunk yards on the ground got to commit more guys to the line of scrimmage got to get those running backs on the ground that's way too easy Tulsa comes to the line with a first and 10 looking to move it through the air got it in the middle it's Presley and a good job of coverage by that defense just a short pick up yeah and that was tough on the DB right he's trying to cover the receiver on a drag route running back over the middle of the field you're trying to avoid all the linebackers all the congestion he just couldn't stay with them long enough and as a result fresh set of downs for the offense looking to throw on second down complete in the middle that is exactly what you're looking for when you talk explosive plays the defense finally able to make the stop clock stops momentarily for the first down they'll hurry to the [Applause] line lost to throw on first down that's caught it's Benjamin and he's brought down after a nice game and I love the awareness by the wide receiver on that play because I'm not sure that route was supposed to be that deep you got to wonder if the receiver decided maybe to adjust the route a little bit to make sure that he got the first down it'll be a first and 10 from the 29 he's going to pass oh he had him right down the middle and he just squirted right through his fingers and they miss an opportunity for a nice play on first down let's see if they go back to the air on second down looking down field it's Francis quickly complete he's run out of bounds but not before turning in a big pick up and moving the sticks for a first down the defense has their hands full trying to stop this guy in the slot they're going to have to figure something out to bracket him try and get two bodies around and maybe get some safety help as well because right now they do not have the answer for this guy down to the 16 yd line it's first and 10 fires into the end zone and it's caught touchdown golden Hur if you're able to move the ball in a drive like that the most overrated stat in football would be field position agreed and I think confidence is Big right now after that last Drive to be able to flip the field like that not just do it but go down and score a touchdown running and throwing for this offense now moving forward in this game that last Drive is going to pay big dividends getting set for the point after and with the extra point the score is now 21- 14 they got the late touchdown on the board now about to kick it away and hoping the defense can keep them from answering from inside the 10 here he comes he was hoping for something a little more Dynamic but they get him on the ground at the 20 Arkansas state has it ready to go to work on offense and his throw is incomplete this offense has a second down play to the air it's rer he's got an open man there's a timeout called as this offense tries to find a way to draw a little closer see what they dial up on First and 10 he's looking to throw it fires to the wide out wide open down field and he was Off to the Races finally tripped up at the 36 here's a Timeout on the field tight game here late in the first half they'll snap it from the 36 they've got a first down he wants to throw skips away from pressure and he gets out of there and gets some yage and gets down without taking any punishment Hey listen it's important at that position to be able to be good off schedule everything's easy when it's on time you can get the ball out but when things break down and they get off schedule you've got to have a guy back there that can make the right decisions he did exactly that just a few seconds remaining here as they try to put something up before half time snags it and he will score touchdown red Wolves yeah and the passing game comes through man and we need more of that in the second half an extra point away from time this football game you trailed a little bit in the first half stayed calm if this passing game can continue to heat up look out in the second half [Music] [Music] lining up for the pat hit that one with some aggression for the point after a very efficient five Place scoring drive and they finish it off with a touchdown toss from the 23 after that latest answer tied things up just about set to kick it away [Applause] again on the move from is five he was looking for some Running Room but not much to be found as he stopped at the 18 and with time running out here in the first half this offense will choose to take a knee that's the end of the second quarter that means it's time to join Kevin in our halim update guys it is hard to beat Jonesboro when that town is buzzing as it is today the passing game for both sides has been outstanding on point unrelenting they've excelled in the short game the intermediate game and especially on the Deep ball all in all a thrilling display of offensive Firepower and these defenses have a lot to discuss here at halftime and with that let's send it back to the guys at Centennial Bank Stadium and the red wolves will boot it away to start the second half he'll bring it out it's Benjamin not nearly as much as he' hoped when he brought it out of the end zone he'll be stopped at the 15 we'll get another look at this Tulsa offense off the play fake on first down to throw snagged in the middle it's hall now they've got even more breathing room out to the 31 and a fresh set of downs there's not a lot more beautiful in football than the playaction and the open tight end yeah because it freezes those linebackers it freezes those safeties because they have to come up for a second and play The Run and then the big tight ends big Targets on the back end can catch the football and make big plays leaves it with the running back finally stopped at the 46 after a 15yd gain that has got to be demoralizing if you're on defense because they just ran the ball right up the middle down your throats and they gashed you the off setting up sh at the 46 first and [Applause] 10 right back to the well a solid pick up there before the defense is able to make the stop after the productive first down play at second and six hand off from the gun he's dropped behind the line of scrimmage that'll be a loss of three well good call by the defense there they dialed up Blitz into that running play in the linebacker able to make a stop now facing a third and long dropping back it's Francis pressure coming and he just throws it away that is not what you're looking for on third down fourth down coming up that is a good omen for this defense they were getting lit up in the first half they knew something had to change so to set the tone like this early on their opening drive of the third quarter and get a stop on third that should really help their confidence Tulsa will be forced to send out the punt team trying to play a little field position that high high punt might have thought he'd want to try to pick up a few yards there but he's content with making the fair catch right around the 35 yd line they go to the ground they bring him down and he's going to lose a yard on that one I love this linebacker because he's able to dissect what's happening in front of him and he reacts downhill uses his speed to get to the line of scrimmage and create the negative play didn't get much done on that first play of the drive it's second and 11 going to run it it's cross just will his way for a couple out to the 35 if they can convert here that type of play can really give you a shot of momentum moving the running back forcing the defense to adjust he hurs one deep down the left side he's got it inside the 15 touchdown red woles and with that one they jump on top here in the second half a lot of times you see those receivers as soon as they get by the DBS you know that hand goes straight up in the air I got him I got a step on him he got a step on him and the ball was thrown perfectly out in front you can see underneath it gets it and gets the long touchdown on the go [Music] route ling up to add another and the extra point is true and they're on top by seven Qui strike offense on that three play scoring drive and they light up the scoreboard covering 65 yd on that touchdown pass the kickoff team out there and ready to [Applause] go fielded In The End Zone it's Presley tackled at the 24 and almost breaks even with the arage he would have gotten with a Touchback the golden hurricane offense comes back onto the field the give to the running back from the shotgun banging slithering whatever it takes to get that ball up to the 32 got eight on first down now looking at a second and two from the shotgun the hand off to the back he's got enough it'll be first down for Tulsa well this defense is on its heels right now especially trying to stop the run they're just not being physical enough they give up another run right there for a first down someone's going to have to step up and make a play now from the 36 yd line it's first and [Applause] 10 here's a quick throw out to the left they make the stop but this passing game does some damage and they move move the sticks with the first down and a big key on that throw to the slot receiver guys is putting the ball out in front the location of the throw is what helped that guy get extra yards after the catch Tulsa comes to the line with a first and [Applause] 10 takes a hand off it's Watkins and I think they'll give him two on that one second and eight coming up kept it on the ground on first down now back to the line off play action throws for the tight end got him down field and they'll finally bring him down after he rips off a huge play If I'm the quarterback right here I hope my play call is going to let me take another shot you just got a big Gainer defense is on their heels let's go Tempo and let's see if we can catch them napping or misaligned and score a touchdown Tulsa wasting no [Applause] time movement here from the tight end power footall with the Run not a whole lot of room there three yards maybe second and seven going to work in the Red Zone they can pick up the first down without getting it into the end zone he'll keep it himself and a good solid pick up before the defense Cuts him down how easy was that I mean when you got a quarterback that canun design runs like this and and get you five plus yards just and make it look that easy God it makes it really hard for the defenses to stop not a lot of ground to cover and not much to defend a big third down in the Red Zone he'll try to get it through the air and he just throws it away on third down I don't think you can give up on a play like that great job by the defense there they weren't surprised by that play call there on Third and short they were expecting they took everything away and forced the incompletion now on fourth down they'll try to come away with three from the left hash this one shouldn't be too much trouble oh and he missed it no good and they couldn't cut into the lead it's still a seveno game well that's one the kicker would like to have back that's a kick he should be making in his [Music] guys we'll see if this red wolves offense can get moving and David how they would love to stick it in the end zone one more time after that last drive and once you get the defense on their heels and you back them off a little bit you get in a little bit of Rhythm it's really hard to stop Jesse and they're going to try to do it again right here and if you're this play caller you're loving what's happening right now because everything you dialed up on that last Drive ended up working out you're just looking at your play sheet everything you're picking is working let's see if they can pull it off again here back to throw it's rer just a short pass to the tight end there to make the tackle but the big throw is good enough to give him a first down really good job working through his progression you get it to him quickly and the big tight end has a chance to run a little and a really good job by the QB throwing an accurate throw I got to hit those guys on the Move On The Run so they can do this they can catch the football get up field and chew up some extra yards they'll try the Run not much working there it'll be second and nine went to the running game on first down now here they come again give to the back at the 45 on it way make the stop at the 40 but he's got 15 yard on that one and a first down when the running back gets going and gets ahead of steam like that so hard to get to the ground that's why you Blitz that's why you bring pressure that's why you bring more guys in the Box so you can get him before he gets going but once he got going you could tell it was hard to get a hand on him hard to get him to the ground from the gun they'll try to impose their running [Applause] game after picking up a couple it's second and eight pulls and throws off the RPO and the defense settled in to stop that one for a short game and a great job by the defense seeing it right away reacting to the screen going and getting the football and getting the fast playmaker on the ground trying to move the sticks on third down to the air it's rer throws to the wide out got his Man Down field they get him down but this offense is set up first and goal from the nine and this defense is going to have their hands full because they're going to need to be comfortable with guys one-on-one on islands in the perimeter of the field and they're just going to have to make better plays than what we saw right there they knew this offense was going to try to be aggressive got to need better effort in the back end for this defense moving forward he's got it on the Run [Applause] so the decision has been made and the coach will take the penalty the red wolves trying to cash it in on first and goal they'll leave it with him headed to the end zone touchdown Arkansas State and they add six more to the board with that trip to the house Reese that's three for the young fell I mean this dude's smelling the end zone anytime he gets near it you know he's going to lower his shoulder do whatever it takes to get in the end the hat trick [Music] [Music] third Ling up to attack one more onto that lead and they stay on target with the extra point up 35- 21 an 84 yd drive there and they finished it off with a 14 yd Run for the score about to kick it off after punching it in for the [Applause] touchdown he thought about bringing that out for a half second but he'll take a knee and they'll bring it to the five we'll get another look at this Tulsa offense we talk about settling for points but sometimes when you have to settle for nothing David it can be demoralizing yeah it can definitely be frustrating and I think it leads you to say maybe I go for it more but Jesse I think this offense just needs to put another drive together and just finish Stronger Yeah and and be a little bit less predictable too especially as they get closer and closer down to the endone they got nothing on the last play it's second and 10 they'll run it out of the shotgun picks up a useful five yd chunk out to the 30 yd line and this offense is desperate to keep this drive alive trailing by multiple possessions and it's getting late he'll off one deep down the left side it's compl huge pick up touchdown Tulsa What A Catch and run for six quick strike touchdown comes out and jump starts the offense and man we see this in college football so much explosiveness and Firepower and we get high scoring game after high scoring game and it looks like we're on Pace for one of those right now they'll try to attack one more on their score and the P will draw them one point closer quick strike offense on that three play scoring Drive and the points come in a lightning strike a 70 yd touchdown pass the kickoff team out there getting set from inside his own 15 looking for a crevice nice job executing all of the assignments as they put a stop to that return at the 22 back to throw it's rer and he drops it just took his eye off of it at the last minute well the receiver did everything right he ran a good route he got his head around he just didn't finish the play just look it in after the quarterback and receiver failed to hook up they'll try it again on second down they'll try the left side maybe picked up a couple he's down at the 24 third down conversions are a huge stat and this one would be a doozy if they can pull it off from the gun wants to pass it's complete and chunk plays are the name of the game and they get one here before the defense finally makes the Stop and man this quarterback has a day with that pass he goes over 300 yards on the day really nice job executing putting up some yards today pretty good day for the young man and the red wolves want to crank the tempo the give from the gun still on his feet at the 45 and they'll finally bring him down rips off a huge play those outside runs if they can get the edge like they do great job by the Right Guard right tackle getting the edge and now what does this do this makes cornerbacks come up and Tackle safeties come up and Tackle as opposed to linebackers and big defensive players you get your guy out in space where he can use his speed and his physicality against guys that usually cover and don't come up and make tackles might as well run him until they stop him he's got it again a run up the middle is stuck for No Gain nice play by the defense but now is a time they've got to be more consistent they allowed this running back to go off in that first half and moving forward now they've got to try and take this running back away got stuffed on first down it's second and 10 looking to throw it's rer Target down the middle pick up of five it'll be third down and five you know the defense doesn't have an answer for this slot guy right now they may want to think about bracketing him having a Defender play to the outside and to the inside probably some sort of Zone coverage where you're trying to get two bodies forcing the quarterback to have to go somewhere else with the ball in the gun and looking to throw on third down a strike down field and he's brought down after a nice game this is exactly why third down is practiced every single day third and short third and medium third and long it's money down for a reason you got a lock in great success by the offense so far on third down the red wolves will snap it on First and 10 fast motion from the offense on the ground it's cross and you can forget running in the middle against this defense when a running back has had as much success guys had so far listen defense has got to queue in they got a queue in to him he's priority number one number two and number three that's a good start to maybe turning this defensive effort around going to work on second down in the red zone is still some ground to cover to pick up that first down gets it out fast and just a short safe pass play they pick up a few these guys are called matchup guys they're not the biggest guys on the field but they're going to win short and they're going to catch the ball and they're going to make yards after the catch you can tell those are the type of guys in college football that are starting to get maximized and used a lot more than they were in the past third and long and he'll try to throw for it fires to the end zone and he's got it touchdown Red Wolves you want to keep your offense on the field wear down the defense put that tape on and show it in a clinic that's the way it's done and as a defense man there's demoralizing you can handle it when you give up three but to give up the touchdown at the end of the long drive you're already exhausted you've already been punked the whole way down the field man that's [Music] frustrating they'll try to add another to their lead and the extra point will tack another one onto this lead he marched 78 y down the field and they finish it with an 11 yd touchdown D they're just about ready to kick it [Applause] away and he'll just take a knee and this drive will start at the 25 the golden hurricane offense comes back onto the field there's certainly still a hill to climb they've got to make sure these drives pay off got a touchdown last time can they back it up here well and it's amazing in a football game how sometimes they'll surprise you with what you do once you get settled and you realize what's going on now I'm comfortable with it Jesse this offense looked comfortable in this last Drive they sure did it looked like they started to find some momentum so now it's on this defense to stop that all right you're a little bit upset based on what just happened the previous drive you've got to Bow up again and go back to what was working earlier in this game and talk about spreading the ball around everyone getting a chance to show off the hands based on the number of targets we've seen one more quarter to play and it might be unlikely but hey it's college football comebacks happen looking for a man it's Francis makes the grab over the middle and the defense had that one well covered just a short game there this quarterback right now in a Groove and he's doing a nice job in pre-nap he's reading the coverage and he's getting an idea of where he wants to go with the football that's why the ball's coming out of his hands so quickly that's why he seems like he's in a great Rhythm right now on Third and long trying to have a big completion here couldn't find a man and just had to throw it away to avoid a negative play well the quarterback in his intended target simply didn't have the timing there the ball Falls incomplete on third up fourth down Tulsa will be forced to send out the punt team kicks it high and it's just hanging there as if it has helium in it and floating down the earth and the punt team able to smack him to the ground Arkansas State ready to go back to work on offense pulls it in and it's Jackson he's brought down but there's a flag on the field let's see what the call [Applause] is the officials offer the deal and the coach accepts it they will take the penalty they'll run the RPO and Fire to the right and a good job in coverage there as they stop it after just a few I love this defense's ability to fight off blocks and rally to the football they do such a great job pursuing that wide receiver screen to only allow a minimal gain and no first down now on second down quarterback on the keeper nice solid form tackle from this sophomore yeah and it's a nice job by this defense understanding listen that QB is a threat and they're going to run all kinds of options and he's going to run the football they were dialed in and got that sucker to the ground they line up and it is a long way to the sticks from here on Third and long no secret what he needs here keeps looking down field got to protect the merchandise gets down without taking a hit you know you hear the term nickel so much most people stay a nickle most of the time because of all the speed in college football in the running quarterback and you see pays dividends more speed on the field when the QB does take off to go get him on the ground and force a fourth down a high kick let's see if he can pin him back deep in their own end he will signal for the fair Catch and take it just inside the 35 we will get another look at this Tulsa offense they'll run the Aro and throw it right didn't pick up a lot there moved it Forward just a few I think you're the head coach at this point you're telling your offense doesn't matter what's happened up to this point of the game obviously things haven't gone our way but we have a chance to execute in a two-minute situation and give ourselves a chance to win let's go do it one play at a time they'll line up for a second down play they try to pop a run on the draw stopped at the 47 after a 10 yd gain and listen if it ain't broke don't fix it I I mean I love teams that commit to the run and when it's successful keep running the rock yeah David I I think this offensive line right now they've got a lather going they're really sort of getting in the groove and flow of this game they're just getting tremendous push at the point of attack it seems like every single time they decide to run the ball they make the stop but not before they do their work up top and pick up a first down and no messing around right now if you're on offense this is the time where execution has got to be at a premium you need to hit completions David they need some big plays and you just want to keep pressuring them and keep making them use the clock give them the underneath stuff and again when they drive the football down the field I just can't give up touchdowns field goal at this point is not going to hurt my defense able to SC three yard out of that one somehow it's second and seven tried to pound it on first down now back to the line to throw it's Francis using the quick game a quick tackle made but he's got plenty for the first down it's not a great feeling on defense too when you're blitzing you're expecting to get a sack you're expecting to get a hit on their quarterback if the offensive line and running backs pick it up uhoh because now you have one less guy in the back end trying to all these receivers and tight ends and you know you're in trouble they'll go back to the ground and he was fortunate not to lose yardage on that play able to wedge it back to the line of scrimmage man nowhere to run on that play at all about all you can say is do better but that's the problem are they able to do better and that's why you keep trying things right keep trying to get on the perimeter run up the middle try different things to see what you do well he's got it again and they'll finally get him down after a terrific pick up and you know big chunks like this don't happen unless you commit to the Run game you got to get those big boys up front into the game understanding I want to knock people off the football create some holes like you do here for my running back make the game easy Tulsa comes to the line with a first and 10 looking for a physical attack from the gun picked up two yard on that last one they need eight on second down he's looking to throw just goes right through the Wicket and brings up third down man he will be thinking about that one and that's one the offense just needs to be able to hit right that's a completion they should be able to hit in their sleep receivers got to do a better job after the second down Miss fire looking at a third and eight from the gun the running back has it and the defense holds firm no pick up at all on that play awesome job up front by this defensive line being so good at the point of attack and eating blocks eating some double teams that allows these linebackers to run free unencumbered and get to the football and they'll send the field goal team back out for the second time tonight right down the boulevard it's good after putting three on the board the kickoff unit ready to go and they desperately wanted to attempt a return but decided not to instead they'll take the touch back they'll ride the running back and leave it with him and he gets it up to the 36 it'll be a first down it's a point in the game I think as a coaching staff where you really challenge your offensive line to go win the football game right we've got to lead late we're going to run the football and the defense and everybody in the stum knows that's what's going to happen can we run the ball down their throats and impose our will that's what this offense right now is trying to do and they try to run inside and there is nowhere to go this running back's had all kind of success now we're getting later in the game we got to make sure we get some stops get the ball back to our offense they got nothing on the last play it's second and 10 to the air it's rer he's right on target really nice job there by both guys the throw and the catch to work that defense and get the first down I love an offense that wants to stay aggressive even when you've got the lead late in a game like this right you still try to find your Playmakers and get them the ball in space and that is exactly what this offense is doing it'll be a first down from the 49 yd line from the gun running back on the move the quick feet the acceleration the vision and he works his way to the 44 they've got a lead here in the fourth quarter and there's certainly still plenty of football to go but this is where you'd love to control the flow of the game right you want to dictate everything to the defense and you do that by running the football that was a really nice run this offensive line is firing off late looks like they're getting stronger as the game goes on and that is a good sign for the off def pulls it and fires to the left he's loose touchdown Red Bulls and they take it in for six more points and this offense continuing to put up points this game's Out Of Reach you know you're going to win but still throwing the football still finding that connection I imagine there'll be some salty handshakes at the end of this game [Music] [Music] now they'll line up for what they hope is automatic and now with the extra point they're up by 18 here in the fourth they put together a five play 75 yd drive and they finish things off with a 44 yd touchdown pass the kickoff team out there set to boot it away from inside his own 10 let's see what he gets he was looking for some Running Room but not much to be found as he stopped at the 18 the golden hurricane offense comes back onto the field looking for a man it's Francis fires to the big fella and that is good versatility there and a big from the back or in pass coverage I think that time offensively you're just trying to take what the defense is giving you right they're playing Zone coverage you got your big F just working right over the ball it's an easy pitch and catch just take the profit let's keep going offense gets set for second down he's looking to throw catch in the middle it's Presley able to work it to the 39 yd line and that'll be a first down it's a nice job running the in route there by the receiver the thing he did after he made his break he didn't Trail and fade away he actually attacked the football that's a good lesson for young receivers out there watching Tulsa wasting no time now they'll run the draw really nice stop there from this senior leader got three on first down it's second and seven he's looking to throw he's got an open man they're ripping off chunks of yardage they get it to the 33 like the stats and I know you do he's over 400 yard passing now yeah if they win this game he's getting a game ball there's no doubt about it this guy has been on fire from the very start of this football game he's just been throwing bullets all over the field Tulsa seems to have the whole Playbook working out of the on the inside K and he is stopped immediately by the big defensive lineman that's a really good stop by the defense Jesse they need a few more you've given up a bunch of yards on this drive and a bunch of plays but all that matters is keeping them off the scoreboard yeah it's that bend don't break mentality you're seeing right now and this is the point where this defense has just got to lock in scanning the field it's Francis they're bringing Heat and the quarterback will be down back at the 43 well the problem for this offense now late in the game trailing by a bunch of points is that the defense knows they're going to throw the football and right now offensively they cannot protect the edge you saw the speed coming from the outside he was able to get to the quarterback for another negative play I'm not positive but that first down marker might be in the next County on Third and long a check down would be the last resort grabs it in the middle he almost pick up the first down on that one but he'll be just a little bit short and that's a nice sigh of relief for the defense too right there was a broken tackle the guy made it look like he was going to pick up the first but because of great effort defensively they were able to get the Stop and now they're setting up fourth down down by multiple possessions they can't come up empty on this drive in the fourth quarter they'll go for it on fourth down he'll try to throw and pick up the first down grab near the sticks it's Watkins he's out of bounds but not before picking up enough for the first down sometimes we don't give enough credit to a receiver knowing exactly where he needs to be on the field and they pick up the first down there yeah and you got to give the receiver credit obviously knowing where that is but the defender needs to know where it is too where is he trying to get that Ball's going to come out quick didn't understand where the sticks were and because of that he gives up the first down need to just be a little bit more aware as a defensive guy well I know that one fell incomplete but what a day this guy has had throwing the football multiple touchdowns and he's done a really nice job with his decision making hasn't thrown any picks which has really helped keep this offense on schedule line getting set on second down hand off from the shotgun he's knocked down the Back Field he'll lose a couple and that seemed a little off from the start didn't it that was a big time play and it was off from the start because of the play he made and I don't think it would have mattered who was playing running back there was absolutely nowhere to go Tulsa wasting no time on third down he drops to throw time running out and he goes down at the 34 oh that's a missed opportunity you know the quarterback was excited he saw man coverage he thought he was going to have an opportunity to come up with a big play but up front they could not protect him well enough down by multiple possessions you can't come up empty on this drive they'll go for it on fourth down he'll try to throw and pick up the first down he's going to let one fly down the middle and it's knocked away they'll give up the ball failing to convert on [Applause] four he want that clock to run and he's able to bounce off one tackle but still not a whole lot of running room and this defense has got to make a play right it's the fourth quarter we're trailing you know this offense they're going to get conservative they want to eat that clock you got to bring more guys to the line of scrimmage got to make plays got to get that football back and now on second down for this offense wide out in motion receiver going for the edge on the Jet Sweep that's what you expect from a senior don't give them any extra yards great tackle there man you just hold your breath every time this particular receiver gets the ball in his hands because of his speed he's dangerous to score every single time he touches it that time on the Jet Sweep though the defense did a better job playing Team defense and getting him on the ground on Third and short they keep it on the ground here and the defense is swarming to keep him from getting to the first down and the red wolves will send out the punt unit a high kick trying to pin them deep not going to risk a return here calls for the fair Catch and makes it just around the 30 yd line we'll get another look at this Tulsa offense fires to the middle oh and he drops it on the crossing route on first down he knew that defense was bearing down on him it'll be second down it's always as a quarterback when you put on the money and the guy drops but you know what you got to do you got to build his confidence buddy I'm coming back to you later just get your mind right get ready cuz I know you can make that catch second down after that incompletion wants to throw it's Francis unloads to the Wi out and they're not on the same page there well on that incompletion the quarterback and receiver just not on the same page I mean that wasn't even close they line up with some serious work to do if they want to convert this one on Third and long try to convert through the air a sensational grab down the field there as they try to at least put a positive spin on the end of this game touchdown golden hurricane what a grab and go for the score if this dude were a kitchen knife he would be slicing tomatoes so thin your in-laws would never come back to your house well that'd be a good thing I don't know if I want my in-laws to come back anyways but he's been on fire he's been absolutely torching this defense they've had absolutely no answers for him he'll try to tack on one more smashes it through for the pat quick strike offense on that three play scoring drive and they finish things off with a big play 68 yards on the touchdown pass time is against them still down by two scores but they'll line up for the onside kick they were ready for the onside kick and executed perfectly and they secure the football offense set for a first down play running behind that left side able to pick his way forward for a decent game before the defense gets him down quick timeout called by the defense stopping the clock to save as much time as possible for their offense got six on first down now a lot of options on second and four running back searching for a hole the defense uses a timeout and we are down to 11 seconds left to play linebackers moving trying to confuse the quarterback they'll run this play from the pistol going to run it it's cross he's dropped behind the line of scrimmage that'll be a loss of three timeout is called and the clock is down to eight the red wolves will bring the the punt team onto the field he'll try to really get into this one not going to risk a return here he'll make the fair Catch and after this play the cake will be baked to the air it's Francis he it high and deep down the left
