EA College Football Simulations Game 11 UConn @Maryland (8/31/24 Prediction)

welcome everyone to College Park Maryland Holm of the Maryland Terin fans have been eager for this Clash coming up and what some affectionately refer to as the snake pit what an exciting matchup we have in store for you this afternoon built around the pageantry tradition and everything that makes college football great as we'll see the Yukon Huskies taking on a team from the Big 10 the Maryland terrafit glad to have you with us for EA Sports college football I'm Reese Davis David Po and Jesse Palmer with me in the booth guys we are ready to tee it [Applause] [Music] up the terrains will kick it away to start us off on the move from inside is five he was looking for some Running Room but not much to be found as he stopped at the 18 the Huskies offense will start this game off and here's the man they rally around and he has earned that type of respect David you dang right you earn it by doing it and he's done it at such a high level everyone believes in this young man in Palmer there's a reason why you're right David he's been in the big moments and he's won the big games this guy delivers when the game is on the line and the running back didn't get much there nice job by the defense you can tell they're focused in on this running back on this run game being physical getting knock back and limiting his carries got three on first down it's second and seven leaves it with the back defense there to stop him after a gain of one to the 22 the big defensive tackles in the middle they're not always the best pass rushers but they are strong and I say Country Strong they put their hands on you you feel it they lock people out on line of scrimmage they create separation they wrap running backs up and usually they don't get out of the midst of those big boys on third down going up top he's got his man a quick tackle made but he's got PL for the first down well you love to see this on the first drive of the game right third down go back to the Old Faithful the slant pass something you put in on day one install back in Spring practice executed perfectly keep this D from the gun the running back looking for room cross the 30 out to the 33 and gains four on the play that's a really nice play it's impressive when it's first down the defense thinks you might be running the football you still can line up you can get some movement at the point of attack and find a little crease for your running back after the productive first down play it's second and six on the ground it's Edwards tackled at the 43 after picking up 10 you want to get the crowd out of the game make it moreing pound the football run the football right at him it takes it takes the juice away it takes that sauce away you don't get to those third down situations where they get absolutely Bonkers and it's hard for the quarterback to even think just run the football right at him quick released by the QB they stop him just a link or two short of the first and man what they can do on second down here and there you see the bind that the RPO play can put a defender in that linebacker had to make a decision was the running back going to get the ball he thought so so he bit up and that allowed the slant to be thrown in behind leaves it with the running back slammed to the ground but not before he gets first down this is an offense that really their identity as being able to run the football nice job there picking up the first down Yukon comes to the line after getting another first down used the play fake now to throw looking to the big tight end got his Man Down field the stop is made but this offense is threatening first and goal from the nine man I'm the quarterback and I drop back and for verts what can I see on my safety is it single high if it's single high I know exactly where I'm going with the football look the safety off zip it in there either way I know I got four guys streaking right down the field and that big Gainer on the last one has them threatening from inside the 10 they'll run it on first and goal ball is loose oh the offense very fortunate to fall in that football and you know the standard is indisputable video evidence and the officials will change the call pocket starts to collapse that pass is incomplete and they're probably fortunate that it wasn't not for a fumble doesn't take this defense a lot of time to get to the quarterback man they've got speed all over the place they hit him so quickly and because of that the ball find in complete this is a big moment for this offense you keep the ball this long you you have to finish the deal third and goal looking to the end zone and it's caught touchdown Huskies what a nice job by the offense first drive of the game they matriculate it down the field put themselves in a go to go situation on third down it's not going to be easy throwing it but they win the matchup accurate throw and they get PID him [Music] they'll try to add another to their lead point and with the extra point they get the first seven of the game that makes the score youon s Maryland to kick it away after scoring the touchdown kick looking for an alley from inside his own 10 and the returner will be knocked [Applause] down so the Maryland terens offense will go to work for the first time as we take a look at our impact players for this one what do you looking for Jesse for a guy to make an impact these are simply put the leaders of this football team and generally game go how these guys play if they make plays they've got a shot to win this one no doubt they got to show up these are the team leaders these guys have to play well they're going to win the football [Applause] game not what they had in mind to start this drive here second and 13 they'll run it out of the shotgun works his way ahead for three they'll spot it at the 18 you runs like this often times are like a boxer in a boxing match obviously it's not a knockout punch but these are body blows and as the game goes on these small gains are going to turn into longer runs you make up the game plan and not a lot on the play sheet for this third and long from inside their own 20 looking to throw it's Edwards using the quick game and the catch was one thing and the Run even better a big pick up on that one third down a lot of times it comes down to not necessarily who's the most open who do you trust the most yeah it's not about the x's and the O's it's about the jimmies and the Joe's and when my gu is better than you and I get you matched up out wide and I know I trust you I'm finding you power football with the just will his way for a couple out to the 35 that's a really good job by the defense wrapping them up get them on the ground take away that run game make them one-dimensional put him in passing situations really good job by the defense picked up two yards on that last one they need eight on second [Applause] down the lone backs got it that's what you expect from a senior don't give them any extra yards great tackle there third if they can convert here that type of of play can really give you a shot of momentum on third down he'll try to pick it up through the air he's going to run and the defense had his hands full but they finally wrestle him down short of the first down yeah and the QB decided to take it himself he got a little bit of pressure you could see and decided to take off scramble and couldn't get the first down and now it's Fourth Down decision time no matter where it is on the field or what the distance is you know there's a chance we still might go for it fourth down and the punt team sends it the other way he'll bring it back it's Sheffield pretty solid coverage there and they'll stop him at the 26 the Yukon offense goes back to work David they' love to do what they did last time and put this one in the end zone you ain't lying they did a great job the offense was clicking everything went well Palmer they executed and got the touchdown and they really were in a nice Rhythm as well and I'd love to see see that here on the next drive too just keep doing what you're doing everything seems to be working and you seem to have this defense on their heels after picking up a couple at second and [Applause] eight the give to the bat he maybe gets a yard they'll Mark him at the 29 down at the 29 yd third down coming [Applause] Ball's at the 29 defense can taste getting off the field it's third and long from the gun wants to pass throws for the tight end they really could have used that catch there physical pass defense it brings up a fourth down this is a point where you just got to be able to focus and the critical down and distances in this game like that third down right there when it's a good throw you got to make the catch you've got to be able to make that play Yukon will have to punt it away getting our first look of the afternoon at the punter signals for the fair Catch and hauls it in just shy of the 30 here comes the Maryland offense back onto the field he wants to start this drive with a pass receiver looks it in it's complete they make the stop after the catch and still some work to do to pick up that first down knowing that your man can make the catch against his Defender that wasn't a big play but it can set you up down the line to be able to take advantage yes get it to him as fast as I can when I see him open he runs the little hitch get it to him so he can make a little bit of yards after the catch and eventually that little game he's going to bust one of those with his athletic ability really nice job there by both guys the throw and the catch to work that defense and get the first down first [Applause] here's this offense with a fresh set of [Music] downs out of the gun the running back has it at the 40 there he goes and he runs it in for the score Dodge down Carin and to have a rush touchdown of that type of yardage you've got to be able to make something Miss it's one thing to get into the second level but can you make that last Defender missed and you saw it on that play once he was in the clear with his speed he was [Music] gone lining up for the pat ex and it's perfect quick strike offense on that three playay scoring drive and they capped it off with a thrilling 50 yd Run for the touchdown after that latest answer tied things up just about set to kick it away again he'll bring it back from inside his spot he was looking for some Running Room but not much to be found as he stopped at the 18 Yukon going back to work on offense last time David it was one two three kick the last drive that three and out sometimes that put your defense in a bad spot and you got to get a drive together here so you don't wear the defense out I just think David too predict that last Drive they got to do something here to get this defense on their [Applause] heels didn't get much on first down it's second and nine they go to the draw that keeps the running game turning pick up of five to the 23 offensive linemen love when you sneak in draws when you sneak in screens it holds these defensive linemen accountable you want to rush the quarterback you're going to fly up field every single play he'll sneak right behind you and get some yardage how bold will they be on third down after that last run from the gun wants to pass going to take a shot and trying to put points on the board on third down now they're staring at Fourth Down third and short like that on your own side of the field you're just looking for a quick hitter you're trying to get the ball out of your hand quickly but the timing completely off there for the offense and the ball Falls in Yukon will have to P it away they'll work to pin him [Applause] deep fair catch called for and made Maryland has the ball B back in the Terin offense ready to go this could be a real turning point in the game they scored a touchdown they got a stop and now a chance to break the tie yeah this offense has got it cooking man and how about the defense great job getting that stop getting the football right back to the hot hand now this offense Palmer has a chance to take the lead you can see the offense too they understand the situation right now they were jonesing on the sidelines to get another opportunity to run back on the field they are ready to drive this ball and go score On The Run it's heni they'll get it to the 48 no need to measure it to first down you know they Pride themselves on being physical at the point of attack Domina at the line of scrimmage nice job there picking up the first [Applause] down they'll line up right at the 48 yd line on First and 10 Ed the play fake now to throw fires to the tight end and the defense settled in to stop that one for a short game early the game as a DB I'm settling in it's okay if I give up four six seven yards I'm just trying to get settled in engage the speed and then later on I can adjust to the speed of the game here comes the offense on second down from the gun they'll try to impose their running game able to pick his way Way Forward for a decent game before the defense gets him down I think you run that play so you stay out of third and long third and long is not where an offense ever wants to thrive third and medium hey I'm good with that so you run that play to make sure you're set up for a good third down after the last run would you just give it to him again on third down looks as if he's going to run it putting together a real scoring credit here as they pick up the first down down at the 36 you know you talk so much about QBs right and having to make really good decisions there's a great example he didn't see anybody open downfield he didn't hesitate for one second he put his head down and he took off and went running and generated an explosive play for the offense touch pass on the Jet Sweep pass the 25 and it is a chunk play a huge gain on that one before the defense brings it to an end these touch passes it's so hard because there's always action off of it right if I fake this pass and I can run it up gut or I can throw it and I just spread me out and make me defend so many things and you can tell they got on the edge quickly got the big first down and the terrains have it in scoring position on first and goal and he WS his for the score tdch down Maryland wow this offense they have a lot of faith in this running back knowing if they get down in this area of the field he can get it done and he can answer the Bell two rushing touchdowns already for this offense [Music] [Applause] lining up to tack one more onto that lead and the pat gives him a 147 lead a 67 yd touchdown drive there and he found his way to the end zone from the seven to C it lining up to cover the kick after that touchdown drive and he takes this from inside the five nice job executing all of the assignments as they put a stop to that return at the 22 the Yukon offense goes back to work the last time we saw this offense we had to look quick it was a three and out Jesse he just had no rhythm in that last one he's Off to the Races ripped off a huge chunk play on that one as he gets the first down before he steps out of bounds yeah and how about this offense a little counter a little misdirection get everybody's eyes going one Direction they go back the other way nice execution by the offense to make the big running play down the field that kind of play will put a jolt into a drive it's first and 10 from just inside the 40 to the ground he's got it again really nice stop there from this senior leader know I think a big part of this isn't necessarily scoring a touchdown on that play but you're just trying to get your offensive line in the rhythm of the game let those Big Fellas get lathered up up two yards on that last one they need eight on second down he's looking to throw got his man quickly he's close to the first down but they're going to Mark him just a little short I like the decision by the quarterback here just get the ball out of your hands get it to your playmaker a lot of times he'll dance and make even bigger plays than he did here but it was still a positive game passing game very effective on second down what about here on third trying to pick up on the ground he gets it oh so close to the first down marker but I think he's going to be a touch short third and two trying to be physical trying to win the battle up front almost there Palmer just short fourth and inches yeah and he was so disappointed he didn't pick up that first he's looking over the sidelines right now asking for the ball again here on Fourth they've decided to try to go for the field goal here he's got it showing off that big leg from 47 yds out well you're always going to wonder what what it could have should have happened on Fourth and inches had they gone for it but with this kicker I like taking three points and putting it on the board [Music] [Applause] after putting up the field goal they're set to kick it away he'll start the return inside his five able to find enough room to get it out across the 25 he's brought down at the here comes the Maryland offense back onto the field Jesse looking to take it down the field for backto back touchdown it's really important for them moving forward too to have a lot of balance right you want to be able to keep this defense guessing P yeah and you got searching for answers after that last drive you stack another drive on top of this their defense is heads are going to be spinning all over the place now on second down using his leg to TBI and he'll get it up to the 38 it'll be a first down I love when players understand situations and they understand where the first down marker is and they understand where I got to get to a lot of people you'll see run north south and try to bounce out wide and make big plays sometimes it's not about making big plays sometimes it's about getting that first down to make sure I get an extra set of downs instead of trying to make those big touchdown runs working that left side now and they give him enough for the first down they'll move the chains and let's see if they can snap it one more time here in the first how about these two running games so far dominance on the ground as we look at the first quarter steps [Applause] and they've swapped into the field and we'll get it going in the second the ter will line it up on First and 10 give to the running back still running up the and he found plenty of Running Room on that one before the defense was finally able to get him down there's no secret to it David when this gu running well this offense is so hard to stop it opens up everything and he's having a great showing you a little bit of everything and this offense has got it rolling on the ground looking to move it through the air got it in the middle it's w really confident throw and catch there big pick up and they have a first down man this defense they have got to get better in coverage if they want to get off the field anytime soon you keep defending like that this offense might hang 50 on you by the end of the game down to the 23 for this first and 10 dropping back Edwards He's Got His man excellent job working through the air there finding a hole in that defense and picking up a first down all right defense it ain't working BR together several first downs here we're going to need to change this up find something we can disrupt the quarterback and and mess up this offense a little bit they've moved it into scoring territory first and 10 from the 11 to the ground with the back you'll take four yards on first down every time second and six and that last carry puts him right at 100 yards for the day he's been a Workhorse continue to feed him continue to create balance in this offense but what a nice day by this young man running the football operating in the Red Zone here on second [Applause] down he's looking to throw dances away from the Heat and he's loose and he'll take it to the house Dodge down Carin well that didn't necessarily go as planned but it was most effective in the end I love it reys down in the Red Zone this quarterback didn't have anybody open didn't Panic he just decided man I'm going to go do this myself I'm going to use my wheels and put up six on the board he did just that lining up to add another ker is on for the extra point and with the extra point it's a 2110 game they put together a 74 yd touchdown drive and he found his way to the end zone from the seven to [Music] CPP about to kick it off after punching it in for the touchdown here he comes from inside his own five he was hoping for something a little more Dynamic that they get him on the ground at 20 Yukon going back to work on offense it's always great to get points on a drive but it would behoove them to try to get a touchdown this time around Palmer they may have to get out of their comfortone some here too David a little bit and just start being more aggressive and take some chances but that's what's going to have to happen for them to win this game yeah and when you're losing obviously everything gets hyped everything becomes more critical this drive is crucial because you've got to cut into this deficit and put some points on the board they'll ride the running back and leave it with him they bring him down and he's going to lose a yard on that one how about the defender being a heat seeking Miss he was on radar lock he found the football and flew down with some bad intentions here they come trying to convert a third and short from the 28 they'll try to move the chains on the ground really nice job to get it past the sticks pick up the first down at the 30 well the offense knew what they needed to get that first down so they dial up the running play they get just enough to keep the drive alive it'll be first and 10 from the 30 looking for a crease it's Edwards stopped after a pick up of four good run to get it out to the 34 small gain I know but again the defense knows he's going to run the football he's willing to run the football not just drop and pass make him on to the Run game you got to do a lot of this pick up of four on on first down it's second and six oh and they'll try to catch him with a pass good job to toss that ball out of bounds and avoid the loss couldn't find his man last time and that leaves him with a third and six from the gun wants to [Applause] pass didn't have much of a choice just had to throw that one away it'll be fourth [Music] [Applause] down Yukon will have to pun it away to K it away signals for the fair Catch and that's where they'll put it in play just outside the 20 Maryland has the ball back in the tant offense ready to [Applause] go can't hang on and he'll tell you he really should have that catch and he had an opportunity right in the middle it'll be second down couldn't make the connection ction last time let's see if they throw it [Applause] again looking for a man it's Edwards throws to the wide out got his man to the left and they'll finally catch up to him but not before a big chunk of yardage just picked up if I'm a defense I got to find a way to get some more pressure on the quarterback or disrupt their timing and their Rhythm I can't give them these big CH plays through the air I got to be maybe a little bit more aggressive or do something a little bit different the off let's go they'll try the Run they bring him down and he's going to lose a yard on that one that stop is a good sign for this defense maybe the defense is starting to figure it out obviously offense has been running the football with so much success something has to change that was a good start lost one on that last one it's second and 11 he's looking to throw quickly complete and he'll makes his way out of bounds after the solid pick up it's so nice as a quarterback when you've got a guy like that working for you in the slot he has such a good feel to find the Open Spaces in the defense just makes life so much easier for his quarterback big third down they need to get the ball to with the 41 from the gun wants to pass unloads the wide out ball in the air intercepted going the other way and he's got room the and he has taken it all the way back touchdown Yukon the saw it he thought don't drop it don't drop it then thought don't get caught don't get caught and he didn't the pick six hey these guys can play offense tooo now look at this I showed you I can be a wide receiver coach might split him a wide receiver next week after making that big play but defense great job making the interception and you're right doing something with it don't just slide down don't be content take that thing all the way back [Applause] brother now they'll line up for what they hope is automatic and it's up and good as they draw Just a Touch closer that makes the score 21 they'll kick it off and send that defense right back out there to try to score again after the pick six on the run from inside his own five really disciplined job by the coverage unit to get there and make the stop at the 19 Here Comes the Maryland offense back onto the field to the air it's Edwards he finds his man and he was just a couple of steps away from taking that one even further after the catch you got to give the old line a lot of credit there because it gave the receiver time to work all the way across the field on the drag route against Zone coverage quarterback gets it to him he's able to turn it up and get a first down they'll snap this one from the 32 it's first down the give to the tail back slams ahead for a yard out to the 33 and that last car puts him right at 100 yd for the game and he's just been so patient he's following his blocks letting it all develop in front of it and then burst through and they were only in the first half didn't get much on first down it's second and nine he's looking to throw makes the grab over the middle they'll get him down but not before he crosses the 50 he's down to the 49 well you know got to love this offense picking up so many first downs it's their own defense David I know you love playing teams with great offenses and the Terin headed quickly to the [Applause] line off the play fake on first down and that pass intercepted and they'll close in on after a good return on the interception this is obviously not a great start for this quarterback here two interceptions already in this game he's got to do a much better job with his decision [Applause] made the Yukon offense goes back to work they hope to be able to cash in on this drive David after having to punt it last time yeah and I think this offense needs to start it with the first play you need to be successful and productive on that first play and it gets you in less predictable situations no doubt too don't you just feel like there's a little bit more sense of urgency on this drive it just feels like they've got to be able to put some points up on the board here got six on first down now a lot of options on second and four he'll keep it himself and they try to run inside and there is nowh to go really nice job by the defense playing responsibility football making sure the quarterback couldn't make any of his reads making sure the picture is not clear getting downhill getting the back home let's see they do on third down rungun wants to pass and he just throws it away on third down I don't think you can give up on a play like that really not job by the defense playing aggressive understanding it could be a running situation but still playing disciplined enough to play the pass be successful on that third and short Yukon will have to pun it away he's getting a lot of work fourth time he's punted [Applause] to the ball hits at the five and it'll go into the end zone for a Touchback Maryland has the ball back in the ter offense ready to go to the air on first down on target getting behind those pads and behind a sff arm to get it out to the 27 love the location of the throw on that slant pass put it at put it on his face mask so he can catch it and try to advance now here on second down see if they keep tossing it around they'll go to the he's dropped behind the line of scrimmage that'll be a loss three great play by the defense there and listen they got to do more this running backs obviously had a lot of success they got to continue to stop this run game be physical and not let this guy beat him a third and long coming up here looking pass it's Wards trying to get to him and the pressure was too much they get him at the 15 now that was a bliss from the middle linebacker that's one the offensive line should have picked up regardless of what the pass protection was sliding or going base manto man or Fanning out you generally always account for the middle linebacker there's no reason let him run clean like that the terrain will send out the punt three and out and not much choice but to get rid of the ball flips through the line and the return return will be brought down Yukon going back to work on offense boy three and out last time David they'd like to be more productive this time around yeah in the last Drive nothing really clicked no rhythm got off the field really really quickly they need to put something together here T yeah David bad execution on that last they got to take a collective breath and start playing like unit on this drive got it at the 37 it's first and 10 they'll ride the H and he'll pick up one it brings up second and nine this offensive line better figure out a plan for this D tackle he have to block with one guy he might want to start double teaming him he's going to be a problem moving forward you saw all of his ability on that last play didn't get much on first down it's second and nine he's looking to throw snagged in the middle it's Sheffield they stop him almost immediately short gain there and still a little ground to cover Pi up the first wow the quarterback knew he had to get that one to his receiver quickly on the end route did you see the velocity on that throw passing game very effective on second down what about here on [Applause] third it's a draw didn't get much picked up a yard and that will leave them with fourth and two they're strong and they're strong defensive tackles they're strong there're such big jokers in the Middle where they just lock out those offensive linemen and running backs listen they don't have much of a chance when you got that 300lb guy grabbing you around the shoulder pad you tend to go to the ground pretty quickly between the uprights it's good makes the [Music] [Applause] they'll kick it away after putting up a field goal on that last drive on the Move inside is sp really disciplined job by the coverage unit to get down there and make the stop at the 19 here comes the Maryland offense back onto the field they'll have have another opportunity to extend this lead after punting last time David and it's important to that punt behind you it's it's over let it go get back to what you were doing that built this lead home yeah and defense obviously they won a few Downs that last drive so we got to put them on their heels here maybe mix up a few personel groupings and try to show them some pictures they haven't seen yet wide receiver shows motion he leaves it with his back Dan is away from one got it across the 20 and out to the 23 a pick up of four well this offense came into the game knowing they wanted to be physical they wanted to establish the line of scrimmage and they're running downhill right at this defense and they're turning out positive yardage early how bold will they be on third down after that last run they're trying to slow that Rush down with the draw they stay aggressive and push their way out to the 33 and it's first down and they just kind of sneak that one in there as a defensive guy third and five plus I'm thinking pass they were thinking pass Palmer and they slipped the run in and it's so nice then to have this guy at running back two right because you could throw it to him on third down or hand it off and he's got the vision and the athleticism to go pick up that first keep the drive going he's knocked down in the back field he'll lose a cup there and the defense is going to have to have more plays like this he has had a ball game so so far running wild all day long defense finally comes up with a stop maybe get a little momentum here over 100 yards already in this game so I'm on defense here I'm adding more guys to the Box anticipating that they're going to continue to give this guy touches today now he's looking to throw it he's right on target he knew exactly where he wanted to go with that one and they've got it enough for the first down and this quarterback is having a first half he's over 200 yds over already heating up setting up this dude might break his career high in passing I don't know what it is somebody get stats for me it's the two-minute warning and we'll see if the offense can tack a little something extra on their lead before the break and the Terin have this offense rolling dropping back it's Edwards finds a spot in the middle they make the stop but not before they do their work up top and pick up a first down this offense is clicking everything working together really well coordinator quarterback offensive line good Rhythm good flow defense is going to have to find something to kind of mess up this timing they got going on the terpens have it with a first and 10 he's looking to throw it fires it incomplete well on that incompletion the quarterback and receiver just not on the same page I mean that wasn't even close the incomplete pass leaves him with second down looking to throw it [Applause] again he's got an open man and he'll H it in and take it to the end zone Dodge down Maryland and I just love the execution by this offense late in the half man you want to take the lead you you want to get that momentum on your side and they do it they finish it with the passing game and tell you what keep that passing game up you can keep this lead keep the momentum and keep putting up numbers [Applause] he'll try to add another to their lead and they kick it through for the extra point and they have an eight-point lead so an 82 yd drive there and the final 41 ydd covered by that touchdown they lining up to boot it [Applause] away from inside the 10 yd line he'll bring it back he was looking for some Running Room but not much to be found as he stopped at the 18 the Yukon offense goes back to work off the deflect you missed a great chance to force the turnover instead it'll be second down yeah I don't know if you want to throw too many hitch routes in demand coverage like that the DB was all over that throw and that was for him to swat away now second and 10 he's looking to throw getting some heat and the def makes a play Sing him back at the 10 referee signals timeout it's the defense wanting to make sure that they have everything just right with a big play coming now this offense is just stuck in the mud they've already punted four times and it's third down now they stopped him after a short game probably just wanted to mitigate the losses with fourth down down coming Yukon will have to putt it away on to KI it he will make the fair catch just a few yards shy of mid field here comes the offense on first [Music] down back to throw it's Edwards they're working that left side you know sometimes even a short game like that can be used to set up something bigger later on no doubt re they can pump that and take a shot down the field and don't worry they're going to go back to that same play cuz they know this guy with the ball in his hands is dangerous he makes one guy Miss he can take it to the house that completion leaves us with second and medium he's looking to throw quarterback moving out of the pocket and he can't find a receiver and down he goes and those outside line backers nowadays they're so fast they got to cover ground but you can Blitz them off the edge and they can get after quarterbacks versatile that's why they're getting drafted so high in the NFL and getting paid all that [Applause] money they'll try to move the chains on this third and long from the 50 from the gun wants to pass quarterback doing what he does best he can move now with a great opportunity as they pick up the first down they've got it at the 40 the offense quickly calls timeout to stop the clock it's going to be tough on this defense containing this guy because he's got that six sense to get outside the pocket and at that point he's thrown it and hurting you or you can take off and run that time able to get the first down big challenge for the defense moving for I know it was incomplete and I'm okay with it if I'm the offensive I'm going to keep taking shots down the field going to make him honor that default I'll hit some of those before the game's over time dwindling away as they try to put points on the board right before the half looking to throw on second down a beautifully placed ball to the outside in the tow drag for the big pick up it is so good for an offense early the game to get your Rhythm and to start stringing first downs together it makes the game really easy and puts that defense in a situation where they're starting to get tired they want to sub they want to get other guys on the field stringing first downs together like this makes it hard to defend looking to throw it's Edwards that pressure got to him and he just had to Chuck it out of [Music] bounds on second down they'll try the field goal to get the points before halftime this is not a straight on Kick a 42 yder from the right hatch absolutely perfect and that will extend their lead even further [Music] [Applause] so they get the late field goal right before the half and not much time after this kickoff for an answer from inside his own 10 let's see what he gets just never had a chance to shake loose and he'll be brought down at the 24 so the offense doesn't want to take a chance here they'll just come out and take a knee and wrap up the half that's the end of the second quarter that means it's time time to join Kevin in our halftime update thanks guys a first half that saw a little bit of everything there in College Park and we've got to start our halftime breakdown with this Superstar running back his elusiveness his raw power this young man is the total package and his ability to catch the ball out of the back field is a differentiator a lot of guys can hit the hole this kid can hit the hole and hit the home run in the passing game and with that let's send it back to the guys inside the shell [Music] [Applause] Yukon has it teed up to start this second half he'll bring it back from inside to SP not a lot of space to be found good Hustle by the coverage team and they stop him at the 21 Maryland has the ball back and the tant offense ready to go they'll start the third quarter with the run defense there to stop him after a gain of one to the 22 BR up second down are you kidding me really are you kidding me didn't get much on first down it's second and nine back to pass it's Edwards wide open downfield and he almost ran away from everybody on that one a huge pick up on that play and the quarterback knew exactly where he wanted to go the football had time spins the ball deep nice job by this offense understanding what the defense is giving them and creating the explosive play and the Terin will hustle to the [Applause] line they'll give it to the back good pick up on that play it'll bring up second and four it's the emmo of this offense and they really put a lot on the offensive line to go out and really try and establish their dominance and their assertiveness and they've done a good job of that early in this game running the football 6yd Pi up on first down leaves him with second and four he's looking to throw grabbed over the middle it's Howard tackle is made after the first down they saw that Blitz coming and the way to get out of it is find the tight end yeah how quick did he see that too sees the Blitz understands this is a matchup where I got my big tight end the big fella I trust I'm going to find that matchup get him the football for the first down the terens are marching down the field trying to find his man on first down and this will be incomplete a big hit there forces second down well the quarterback knew he wanted to go to his tight end on that play he's a big physical Target but it was the hit on the play that forced the incompletion this offense has has a second down play trying to make that Rush think on the draw play here they work that running game down to the 34 let's give him three on the carry third down conversions are a huge stat and this one would be a do see if they can pull it off to the air it's Edwards fires to the wide out got his man DOD down Terin and they add six more to the board with that trip with the house the offense strikes again to extend its lead here in the second half and they got everything working how great is this you extend your lead now you get your defense back on the field great job taking advantage of the situation and building on that lead [Music] [Applause] lining up to tack one more onto that lead the kick is up and good and put one more on the lead he marked 7 8 yd down the field and the final 34 yds covered by that touchdown pass the kickoff unit about to go to work and he takes this from inside the five really disciplined job by the coverage unit to get down there and make the stop at the 19 Yukon going back to work on offense going to the ground got it across the 20 and out to the 23 a pick up of four it's just so nice to know you can start off on first down with positive plays positive yards hand the football off set up a good second down after the productive first down play it's second and six keeps it on the boot leg throws to the wide out it's caught downfield he's right out of bounds but a big play off that one and it'll be a first down when we throwing these comeback routes man the timing has got to be so good between the two of them because you know the ball is going to be the air a long time you can't throw it late it's going to get picked that time really nice job getting it out early and the receiver doing a nice job on his route so that the ball was right on him as soon as he turned around here's the handoff nice pick up there gets him the first down and sets him up at the 45 yd line every offense wants to be able to run the ball and be physical especially on first down and you want to create second and short third and short or just get first downs like that run right there and the Huskies come to the line with a new set of downs pre- snap motion quarterback trying to get a read quick touch pass to the receiver he is delivering the blow while running the ball and he gets it to the 39 that's a really good job by the defense for acting what they see they see the quarterback Flip It Forward on the touch pass now I got to go get it right Coral that football he picked up some yards yeah but you didn't give up that big explosive play and now you have to make him earn it now on the next down takes a hand off it's Edwards and he's knocked down but not before moving the chains and you know big chunks like this don't happen unless you commit to the Run game you got to get those big boys up front into the game understanding I want want to knock people off the football create some holes like you do here from my running back make the game easy and they'll line up from the 31 on first down used the play fake now to throw working that left side and what a throw to get it in there and they've got it in business in the red zone at the 13 and there was no question in that scenario that's where the quarterback was going he knew he had his receiver in a matchup that he liked running a route where he would find himself opening nice job between those two they'll run it they'll finally getting stopped at the one yd line what a run there and they say a quarterback's best friend is a good run game and a good running back I think he agrees over 150 yards on the day I don't even think I need a quarterback the way he's been running the football all game long the Huskies have it with a first and goal looking to throw and he was going for the touchdown there and they couldn't make the connection and that is a huge missed opportunity for the quarterback you've got your guy wide open in the end zone you're not under pressure you just got to hit him that ball got away and that's one he'd like to have back can the defense stop him again on second and goal slams ahead he's got it down out to The One yd line right on the doorstep of p and on offense you know this is four down territory you have to come away with the touchdown you're getting boat raced in this game right now and you're going to have to make this possession count yeah definitely because of the slow start now putting yourself behind the eight ball I think this offense is going to have to be aggressive the rest of the game if this defense can come up with a stop here and to the end zone he goes touch down yukai that drive was what every father wants his daughter's romances to be like slow take your time drain the clock no hurry at all sometimes love is a slow burn and that's what we just saw on that last Drive I am so impressed with the execution and I love their ability to run the football these players they're coached up they're coming out here and they are executing exactly how their coaches prepared them to do in this game ready to try the point after point right down the middle so a drive there of 82 yards and they capped it off with a one yd pun 3 27 almost ready to kick it away after scoring the touchdown he'll Darth return inside his spot he was looking for some Running Room but not much to be found as he stopped at the 18 here comes the Maryland offense back onto the field they'll leave it with him get some work done there pick up of four to the 22 you know it's so important for offense is to want to keep third Downs manageable the way you do that is by having success like that running the football on first [Applause] down solid pick up of four on first down it's second and six looking downfield it's Edwards it's complete to the left and he was loose and in the open field and on his way a tremendous pick up on that one I like the running back there on the route and the patience he showed really setting it up he got to the defender was able to put his foot in the ground get some separation catch it and turn up field for the first and the Terin want to move quickly [Applause] unloads quickly this quarterback right now is in Groove he's doing a nice job in fre he's reading the coverage and he's getting an idea of where he wants to go with the football that's why the ball's coming out of his hands so quickly that's why he seems like he's in a great rhm they'll line up for a second down play fires to the big fella finally run out of bounds but he has his hense rolling with a first down really job working through his progression you get it to him quickly and the big tight end has a chance to run a little and a really good job by the QB throwing an accurate throw I I got to hit those guys on the Move On The Run so they can do this they can catch the football get up field and chew up some extra yard yards on the move it's heni they trying to send a message with this running game he stopped after a pick up of four to the 33 it's just simple simple first down run showing your physicality setting your offense up in a good spot after the productive first down play it's second and six he's looking to throw and he is finding wide open Defenders all over the field his third interception of the day bringing it back and he's going to score on the interception touch down [Applause] husky just one moment and all of a sudden the Fortune's turn you're in a position where you're about to give up points and now you flip that around and you put points on the board perfectly executed what do you do in an interception first guy blocks the intended receiver everybody else starts to form a wall where the ball's going nice blocking nice interception nice return for the touchdown they'll try to get the two-point conversion here and make it a three-point game he's looking to pass he's got it in the end zone for the two as they trim more off of that lead sucessful and makes the scoreable 38 you come 35 they're about to kick it away and the defense probably can't wait to get back out there after the pick six here he comes from inside his own five he was looking for some Running Room but not much to be found as he stopped at the 18 Maryland has the ball back in the Terin offense ready to go another interception that's his fourth of the day touchdown a great return for the touchdown any return for a touchdown is a great one to a defense what a play by this defense with the pick six and how about the defender exactly what you're supposed to breaks some of the football makes the interception everybody on defense we turn to offense go lay some blocks so my guy can get it and take it back to the [Applause] house they'll try to add another to their lead exra and the extra point is good and it's a four-point lead that makes the score you come 42 they're lining up to kick it off after the pick six and that defense will come out feeling it on the run from inside his own five nice job executing all of the assignments as they put a stop to that return at the 22 here comes the Maryland offense back onto the field out of the gun the inside K he's dropped behind the line of scrimmage that'll be a loss of three and sometimes for the defense it just takes one play right to create some momentum obviously this guy's been eating him up he's got over 100 yards rushing on the day but finally David they get something positive here in the Run game defensively but you kind of knows that coming in he's going to get his such a great back and he's had a great day need to put more plays together like that right there pulls it and fires to the left and they pick up just a few on that completion if you're going to get first downs against this defense you're going to have to earn it you're going to have to make people miss this is an excellent tackling unit you saw it on that last play they line up and it is a long way to the sticks from here on Third and long trying to have a big completion here and he dropped it oh what a missed opportunity nobody around just had too much time to think about well in the first half this offense was up and down the field it seemed like everything they were dialing up was working and here we are in the third quarter and there's a rare incompletion on their own end of the field maybe that's the play the defense needs now to spark some momentum fourth down HT team sends it the other way he will signal for the fair Catch and take it just inside the 35 the Yukon offense goes back to work hands it off nice move to stay on his feet just sort of a Relentless run getting everything that was available to him and they'll Mark him down at the 40 when you're a defense it is stop the run first that is your first responsibility it makes the whole whole game easy and right now they got it going on the ground the defense is going to have to change something up these little tiny Dink and dunk Dink and dunk you keep doing this they'll go all the way down the field on you so you might want to get a little bit more aggressive and he gets it to the 44 yd line it'll be a first down this is a guy that can find you the hidden yardage that play he just pushes the pile to get that first down now they'll line it up from the 44 on First and 10 he wants to throw pulls it in it's Harris and he laid the lumber to stop him from getting the first down I'll tell you I love the play call on first down here you're just trying to find an easy completion and the shortest throw on the field for the quarterback is finding your biggest Target and that's the tight end nice job that last completion sets him up on second down he's looking to throw he looks that one in nicely dragged down to the turf but not before getting the first down the at 42 and a first down for the offense this Yukon offense really has it going on defense from the the shotgun they'll run it and how about the work up front by that big defensive line when a running back has had his much success as this guy's had so far listen defense has got a queue in they got a queue in to him he's priority number one number two and number three that's a good start to maybe turning this defensive effort around got stuffed on first down it's second and 10 from the gun the ground game shakes off the tackle just a s heavy veteran productive run from this junior another good run man he has been picking up yards in bunches today Jesse showing off all the skills and he's showing no signs of slowing down David this guy just gets better as the game goes on he is a beast Yukon comes to the line after getting another first down he's going to pass setting up the screen nothing but green ahead gets out of bounds after the big game but they've got it first and goal no matter how many times they tell you to look for it it is tough to defend a perfectly executed screen yeah because I'm trying to go get the quarterback and it looks everything looks like pass but when you see it when you see that screen you got to retrace your steps get back in the play nice job by the offense but the defense just has to recognize that a little bit sooner Yukon comes to the line with a first and goal they'll try to get it in with the Run touchdown huskies and they take it in for six more points another rushing touchdown that's now two on the game this offense thought they could come into this one running the ball being the more physical team and they look like it right now [Music] [Applause] on to attempt the tryck on for the extra point and the extra point is good and they have an 11-point lead they put together a 65 yd drive for the score and he got into the house from the six to finish it about to kick it away after scoring the touchdown set a kick off on the move from inside is five he was hoping for something a little more Dynamic but they get him on the ground at the 20 mland has the ball back and the Terin offense ready to go now they find themselves behind David let's see if they have an answer yeah losing the lead obviously lose a little bit of momentum but this offense you can gain it right back let's get a drive starter going find some guys you know you're going to make some plays for so that's the challenge for them you got to answer right you got to take the field here you've got to execute be physical and regain this lead they got nothing on the last play second and 10 the back goes in motion quick pass on the Fly motion away from one tried to move that pile forward he maybe gets two he's down at the 21 if every Journey begins with a step this offense needs to step into a third down conversion and then try to turn it into some scores and [Applause] fast and sure tackling there to keep him from getting to the first down marker coming up fourth down [Applause] the Terence will bring the punt team onto the field fourth time tonight we've seen this guy come on to [Applause] punt he gets it up to the 34 yd line before he stopped and that's where the offense will set up shot looking for a productive play on first down quarterback on the keeper no where to run on that when he loses four on the carry nice job playing assignment football by that defensive end knowing what my job is not letting that quarterback get out get loose making a good play and most importantly being there in the right spot and getting him on the ground a negative play to open the Drive let's see what they've got on second and 14 they go to the [Applause] ground he's run out of bounds but not before turning in a big pick up and moving the six for a first down well I know this is an offensive line that has a ton of Pride they want to come out each and every game and really impose their will on the dline they got just enough push there on that run play to pick up the first pre snap Motion in the back field touch pass on the rck and a nice solid pick up there before the defense wrestles him to the ground second down coming out line getting set on second down now the play fake looking left and the pass Falls incomplete That's How we'll wrap up the third quarter of play but now time for the fourth quarter what a day it's been on the ground for these two guys and they just seem to get stronger as the game goes along as we take a look at the numbers one more period to go to see who can make the winning play and come home with the victory third and short coming here right from the Midfield strike quick strike complete he's got first down yardage as they move it to the 44 and you just get the feeling that this defense has to find a way to get off the field and get the football back at this J the game trailing late if they're going to win and the huskys are rolling down the field it'll be a draw they bring him down and he's going to lose a yard on that one well the defense finally able to make a play getting a tackle for loss they haven't had many of those today because this running back really has answered the Bell they coming in they were going to have to give him the football for Speed it to him and let him go to work he's done that well over a 100 yards rushing in this game and the defense just has not had the answers consistently for him he will step out of bounds but not before the big pickup and a first down for this offense yeah and if this offense can keep that rolling if they can keep the physical ground game and continue to add these plays up as they go along long drive eat the clock with the lead this coach will be ecstatic the Huskies have it with a first and 10 it's a draw you'll take this every time five yards on the first down play it's a point in the game I think as a coaching staff where you really challenge your offensive line to go win the football game right we've got a lead late we're going to run the football and the defense and everybody in the stadium knows that's what's going to happen can we run the ball down their throats and impose our will that's what this offense right now is trying to do [Applause] grab near the marker it's Edwards and they wrap him up but not before he gets enough on the catch for the first down such a tough spot to be in on defense because you're trailing You're Expecting the offense to run the football they just did it on the last play and then on a critical third down they go play action and they throw it over your head you got to feel for this defense they'll run it from the G they get him on the ground a 6yd run in the Red Zone down to the 11 I think you have to like what you see if you're the coaching staff here your offense is on the field and it looks like you got a pretty good drive going and you're just going to try and keep this thing marching keep the clock ticking you've got a really nice lead here late just want to find ways to keep the chains moving they're doing [Applause] that one man in the back field and he gets it he's knocked down in the back field he'll lose a couple it's going to be tough letting for the offense here they're trying to ice this game by running the football and bleeding the clock they've got a pretty good lead here late in the game but the defense knows the runs coming right so they're going to be loading the line of scrimmage getting stops like what they just did be interesting to see what the offense does on this next one third and long and he'll try to throw for it going for six and makes the grab in the end zone touchdown Yukon number another good decision by the quarterback you've got to be impressed here on that one he finds his tight end but all game long whether it's receivers or running backs or tight ends wherever the best one-on-one matchup has been he's been able to take advantage of it and that's why they've been able to score so many points [Applause] Pat unit on the field and now with the extra point they're up by 18 here in the fourth they put it in the end zone with a 12pl scoring drive and they finish it by firing one in from the 13 for the score lining up to cover the kick after that touchdown drive this one away looks as if the returner will try and field this one didn't find any crease in that kickoff coverage and he'll be stopped at the 17 here comes the Maryland offense back onto the field back to throw it's Edward unloads to the wide out all kinds of room to throw that one in there and an explosive play has on the move and he gets it all the way the 48 yd line let's go we got some life we we made a play something to build off of we need a lot of points and we need him quickly time's running out we're trailing big in this ball game and the Terin in the hurry up all right now let get in that using his legs it's heni he is going nowhere stop at the line of scrimmage awesome job up front by this defensive line being so good at the point of attack and eating block blocks eating some double teams that allows these linebackers to run free unencumbered and get to the football got stuffed on first down it's second and 10 he's looking to throw fires left just masterful working that sideline and getting the tow down for the catch this is sort of like a pinball machine the numbers keep kick kick ticking up he's closing in on 450 yards yeah Reese and there's no defense for perfect throw and that's what this guy's been delivering all game long you know the coverage hasn't always been awful but this guy just finds a way to thread the needle pressure coming and they couldn't hold off the heat and he goes down with the sack what a nice answer by this defense you give up the big play you respond right back you get the sack create some momentum for your side nice job by this defense staying with it [Applause] that's the last thing you want is an offense a negative play a sack on first down back to pass it's Edwards fires to the wide out he got a hand in there knocked it away incomplete well this guy must feel like he's run into a buzzsaw in this game he has been under duress all game long and that's a big reason why he's thrown multiple interceptions in the game too nothing coming easy to him it's hard to see the field when your internal clock is going off so fast because of the pressure of this defense and that's why they F themselves down by so much here in the fourth he's going to let one fly down the middle and his fifth interception of the game a miracle they haven't pulled him yet and a big return after the int sets up the offense for this possession and as a defensive lineman late game man when you know it's passed you're pin your ears back trying to get to the quarterback and DBS are trying to do this pad them stats get the int nice job by this D Yukon going back to work on offense this has been exactly the way you draw things up David the offense has really been moving the football and it's been great execution they've done exactly what they've wanted to do build the lead now Palmer is a different animal now you got to protect it you can tell they were paying attention in practice this week in the film room because they have gone out everybody right now on the same page after picking up a couple at second and eight Def One keeping it on the ground with the running back at the 35 he's got M and chunk plays are the name of the game and they get one here before the defense finally makes a stop one of the things I love about the misdirection type plays is that you can pull offensive linemen and get extra at the point of attack so you're setting yourself up with good angles if you execute it properly David you saw it right there and saying the word angles means a lot because that's exactly what you do now I can block down and I can leave somebody unblocked pull around kick him out use misdirection in the back field really just get your eyes as a defense on something else and then go the other direction nice misdirection call by this offense [Music] last play was a near disaster now dealing with [Applause] second and how about that interior defense stuffing the run for nothing on the play man oh man the ball carrier was shut down and I think what they need some push up front too right they got to move those defensive lineman out of the way at least create a hole so your running back has a chance not there he didn't have now facing a third and long looking to throw and he needs a bunch that's caught it's Harris and he's not going to get there the defense Stands Tall and makes [Music] stop so this field goal unit has been getting the job done they've already made a couple days from the left hash this one shouldn't be too much much trouble it's good and that was dead solid perfect and they'll push that lead out a little further youon 59 Maryland 38 [Music] [Music] [Applause] they keep pushing that lead out and the kickoff teams get some [Applause] work looking for those open spaces and opportunity he was hoping for something a little more Dynamic but they get him on the ground at the 20 Maryland has the ball back in the Terin offense ready to go they'll throw it on first down catch in the middle it's Howard and he runs through one tackle and picks up a few here's the deal you're down three possessions you know it doesn't feel likely they're going to come back and win but we've seen crazier stuff happen in college football it all starts with a big completion on a two-minute Drive they'll get the momentum started in your direction completion a little short of the sticks it's second down dropping back it's Edwards shoot to to the left reacted well to the tip it just couldn't squeeze the football instead of the turnover it'll be third down it's a nice adjustment by the defense here with a big lead in the game you're putting extra DBS on the field knowing the offense has to throw to get back in this one in the fourth quarter so your best cover guys on the field and they force an incompletion on the last one they'll try to pick up the first through the air he'll try to do it himself Nifty little Scamper on this one enough for the first down and he slides in safely great players like this just do a good job of making you pay and if you want to drive back and play coverage that's fine he can scramble around buy time beat you down the field but if nothing's open boom I take it and easily get a first down make a big play just make it a headache for the [Applause] defense going up top on first down firing to the right complete and he'll run across the sidelines after the good game I love offenses and quarterbacks that are willing to take the easy stuff take those easy throws that are guaranteed to get positive yards yeah I'm going to take big shots down the field too but don't forget it's easier to pick up second and five third and five than it is when we start getting those long yardage situations he's going to pass on second down just too much juice on that one as he air mails his receiver out of bounds at this point of the game in the fourth quarter it is going to be tough for this offense to get some completions here because now trailing by this mon the defense is expecting pass and they're putting a whole bunch of extra DBS on the field to help them out in coverage we'll see if they go back to the air after the incompletion it's third and five shotgun snap wants to throw it on third third down tremendous awareness along the sideline and the ability to get the foot down for the big pickup well look that wasn't a touchdown but that was a massive play for this offense they needed some momentum they needed to find a rhythm and what better way than converting on third down awesome job by the quarterback getting through his [Applause] progression they'll move the running back try to force the defense to adjust makes the grab on the left he's just winning that matchup in the slot every time and when you put him in the slot ree is closer to the quarterback it's an easier throw we can run in we can run out and really take advantage of his versatility of the guy that SL position it's now second down after the short [Applause] completion to the air it's Edwards throws to the wide out little too much juice on that one from the junior good news is he did a nice job reading the coverage you exactly to go with the football that time just a little bit too much on that pass you wonder if that's just nerves he's got to settle himself down a little bit they're close enough for a makeable field goal from the 26 but they'd love to convert this third in Long from the gun they'll try the middle really nice run rips off six on the play but it brings up a fourth and two yd line offense facing fourth down [Applause] the Terin have taken it inside the 20 he'll ride his man on the option they stop him short of the marker and they'll turn it over on down ready to fire from the pistol the running back has it they bring him down and he's going to lose a yard on that one that linebacker was a heat seeking missile and the heat that he sought was the ball carrier yeah great job great feeli linebackers are making all the calls in the defense and understanding when I need to come through that Gap and come through with bad intentions those guys are usually 245 lbs of heat seeking missile caught in the back field it's Sheffield and a good job in coverage there as they stop it after just a few one of the most difficult things about this slot receiver is his shiftiness and athleticism he's very very difficult to tackle after the catch they line up with some serious work to do if they want to convert this one the give to the back makes man miss really nice run rips off six on the play but it brings up a fourth and two e e e e e e e e e [Music]
