out there just goes to work and guys look up it's deep into the ball game and they haven't been able to scratch anything off of this guy so look for him to do the same thing today maybe Go the Distance maybe hand it over to the bullpen at the end and try to get that w and that's a base hit into left field so a man on base to start the inning that Michael Harris with his first major league hit and this is a moment I'm sure he'll never forget congrats yeah great moment for him and his family a guy works so hard and has to wait so long for this to happen and when it does can kind of be overwhelming boo you still have to stay locked in on the game but it's great you could take a minute to just appreciate what you've done and how hard you worked to get here Jorge Solair up at the plate hit in the air right field Cruz makes the catch and there's one [Applause] down here's the Atlanta Braves lineup one guy leading the way offensively for this club right now Jared Kellner and boo we're talking about a guy who has great wheels and then puts him to good use he's the team leader in stolen bases and run scor man using his speed to just get in the scoring position and then just flying home when the guy's behind him put the ball in play I absolutely love watching him do it because he causes havoc on the Base PS so now one and two Harris over at first with one away step off throw to first and he's back in safely base runner with a one-way lead right there all he's trying to do is get a look at the pitcher's move had no intent of stealing on that pitch kicks andand deal and it drops in to third time Marcelo Zuna with his first major league hit and this is a moment I'm sure he'll never forget congrats yeah great moment for him and his family a guy works so hard and has to wait so long for this to happen and when it does can kind of be overwhelming boo you still have to stay locked in on the game but it's great when you can take a minute to just appreciate what you've done and how hard you've work to get here here is Matt ol two outs live drrive makes the catch inning over brav strand one now it'll be Washington's turn it's a scoreless ball game you're dialed into the show back in Washington DC and towing the slab in this one Chris Sail singy he's kind of a road warrior yeah I definitely say so you know some guys shrink a little bit on the road they're so used to just having the Comforts of being at home and having the fans behind them but this guy seems to thrive in adversity and being in some hostile environment so when you have a player like this on your team that goes out there and competes you definitely like your chances away from your home ball part on the ground right side William fires over to First and a quick out number one here's Dave Martinez lineup for the Nationals getting Guys across the plate not exactly a forte for them this year as their offense is in the bottom third of the league in run scored Boog it becomes extremely frustrating and then what happens is guys press especially in runs scoring opportunities and situations and on top of that I mean you really make it harder on your pitcher he feels feels like he's got to be perfect to go out there and win a ball game or at least to put the team in a position to win a ball game so they've got to figure out a way to relax get those Runners across when they have them on and especially when they're in scoring position and that skips in [Applause] dirt swings and misses and there's two down and that's the first strike out of his major league career and it could be the first of many if he meets the goals set for himself and the expectations others have for him he doesn't want to just win games he wants to dominate at this level do you think Young pitchers could sometimes get too caught up in trying to rack up KS early in their career Bo I think they can it's kind of like a hitter that doesn't have power The Thrill is still hitting a ball over the fence and so for a guy even if he doesn't have power stuff or strikeout stuff a strikeout is still something that makes him stick his chest out a little bit further [Applause] Cho to third whips it across Nets go down one two three Nationals go quietly we played an inning they'll score top of the second so here's Murphy now this is a guy who is very highly regarded defensively fun to watch him control stuff behind the plate good game call taller good at framing but it's that big arm that really stands out and he deals that's outside and the count two and one yeah and because he's got the big harm he pays attention to the running game and is sure to manage it and that's outside and now three and one you have a catcher that can throw like that a pitcher doesn't have to worry as much about the slide step he can keep his mechanics intact and have a better opport of getting that hitter out with a swing and miss the L of the pitch foul ball and it remains a full count and now the Lefty the 32 is off the outside edge and that is ball four that could be a tone Setter for the inning more straight pitches and the lead off batters on base we'll see if the next Guy waits until there's a called strike before he takes the bat off the shoulder here's Jared Kelly the one- one is fouled off the one two and a liner out into right center for a base hit throw back in quickly first and second now with nobody out Jared Kelner with his first major league hit and this is a moment I'm sure he'll never forget congrats yeah great moment for him and his family a guy works so hard and anytime you roll over and send a two ball to short at this level you can pretty much count on a double play middle infielders are just so reliable and they work on these plays all the time so it out a controversial called strike three to end the inning one left for Atlanta we'll go to the bottom of the second no score back here in Nationals Park and now it's Luis Garcia [Applause] second the line of the pitch swing and a pop off in foul ground DS towards it great catch foul ground up against the wall boy that was a hanging breaking B right there I think he tried to do a little bit too much sometimes those eyes can get really big I think his swing broke down as well and that's what caused him to pop it up one down base is empty that one ripped left field hel going back on this one pulls it in on the warning [Applause] track batting the third basem Jose up now for Washington Jose [Applause] tenna and a pitch that's [Applause] out bounce to third base hit that was smoked through the right side whips it to Gallow and one away in the top of the third now at the Michael back to the leadoff spot in the Braves lineup and next for at Michael Harris the wind to kick the pitch gets a in a Miss there push through the early stages he hasn't been very efficient in terms of the pitch account he's going to need to get some quick outs if he's going to get deeper into this game foul ball left side he'll see another it is interesting though when you consider the way the game is run now doesn't even matter that much if your starter doesn't go that deep because teams are really [Applause] next off bring he in for a strike man I'm pretty impressed out there on the mound right now I mean these are tough spots where pitchers really got it bear now those last two pitches were well executed line drive base hit coming home he scores and they have the lead one nothing [Applause] so he gets two Milestones with that hit his first big lead knock and he drives in his first run as well yeah you love to get both of those out of the way with just one swing of the bat and it makes the special moment even more special it's not just an individual accomplishment when you're also driving in a run for your team that's an it bad he's never going to forget here's Shawn Murphy next offering is in for a strike on the ground to the left they take the force out they limit the damage here but they pick up one run on the RBI single and the home team down a run it's major league baseball and it's on the show and welcome back to the ballpark set for the bottom of the third and now it's Joey G ball to strike swing it a foul back that's out of [Applause] play flew open a little bit with that front shoulder but was able to slow his back down just enough to make contact with that pitch keep theat alive caught him looking for the K batting and here's the working center fielder and he lays down a bu Williams he's safe out with a bun single number five good DJ [Music] [Applause] so the Nets lineup turns over next to hit for the Nets CJ Abrams sail delivers there goes the runner throw a second tag out at second that goes to show you stealing a base is a tough thing to do and far from a sure thing even with Big Time speed it's not easy to catch him but that was a great catch and throw quick not rushed and [Applause] accurate close but called the ball and that's ball [Applause] three swing and a miss that front door slider such a devastating pitch you don't want to get by the inside fast ball so you cheat a little bit and then by the time it gets there it's out of the Swing [Applause] plane and a grow ball to first he takes it himself to the bag and that'll do it one hit in the inning but no one left three Innings complete it's the Braves one and the Nationals nothing back in Washington DC John chambie with Chris Singleton and set to lead off the fourth Jared kelman [Applause] and strike two one ball two [Music] [Applause] strikes the pitch swings throw it and that's a strike down you know you often think of slider more for that horizontal movement but most of the good ones have both vertical dep and that horizontal move in and that's what we saw right there good drop on the break and got him to swing over the top here's gor shella the wi and the pitch so a foul ball makes it one and [Applause] two cut and misses it's a strike out well that's always the key to effective pitch is getting ahead in the count and as a pitcher it really allows you to start expanding The Zone hitters become defensive and all of a sudden that plate starts to get really wide and what happens is because of the pressure you end up committing to a pitch as a batter before you recognize what it is and that's what leads to the strikeout ball one good spot there but didn't get the strike at the knees and doesn't seem too convinced by the call out there in the mound as he tries to get a better sense of the Umpire Strike Zone two down nobody Young ground ball up the middle Abrams gets it to First and it's a one two three inning for the Braves nothing doing for the offense that time on now to the bottom of the fourth it's the Braves one and the Nationals nothing bottom of the fourth and here is James Wood this kid picked up in a trade a lot was offered and given to get him but he's got a real high [Applause] ceiling SS and misses struck him out just indecisive in that at bat he couldn't commit to the slider tried to sit in between just not able to put the bat on the ball andrees chaparo digging in for the Nationals highfly ball right field Solair sizing this one up he's got it and there's two away the number two second B so now it's the four hitter Luis Garcia Garcia the Nationals trailing by a run we're here in the bottom of the fourth that one finds the zone and the count one and two two [Applause] straight that's a little bit low [Applause] [Music] foul ball another two- two upcoming sail ready swings through that and it's a strike out and good work there as he gets a one two three nothing doing for Washington they're down one nothing back here in Nationals Park now Luke Williams [Applause] the one two swing and a ball lifted in the air shallow left field that one gets down for a hit and that turns the lineup over Luke Williams with his first major league hit and this is a moment I'm sure he'll never forget congrats yeah great moment for him and his family a guy works so hard and has to wait so long for this to happen and when it does can kind of be overwhelming Bo you still have to stay locked in on the game but it's great when you could take a minute to just appreciate what you've done and how hard you worked to get here now in for the Braves Michael [Applause] Harris the Lefty ready and a one-1 and there's a foul ball nobody out runner at [Applause] first got it by for very frustrating right there as a speedy potential base runner when two strikes you just struggle to put the ball in play you don't even have to get a hit at that point you can help your team just by reaching on an eror but some way you got to find a way to shorten up the swing and put the ball in play next time so up next Jorge Solair swings through that one out in front that time when you're taking your lead over there at first you got to be very careful this guy on the Mountain's got a good pickoff [Applause] move maybe a two ball five four that's three double play and the inning is over no runs one hit no errors and no one left home half of the fifth coming up it's the Braves one and the Nationals [Applause] nothing bottom of the inning and it's the catcher for the Nationals Hebert [Applause] Ruiz just [Applause] missed and the two on remembered but foul clearly trying to stay back a little bit longer for that change off as he fouls that fast ball back gets under and Pops it up under this one and there's one down the third Bas number eight now the third baseman Jose tenna you know this is kind of a tough matchup as a left-handed hitter facing a left-handed pitch what you tell yourself is I want to stay Square to the plate try to hit the ball over the short Stop's head and a pitch swing and a Tapper that rolls foul the Nets down by a run last half of inning number five fights that one away still one and [Applause] two hacks and misses it's a strike out oh that slider wasn't even close to the strike zone and he got him to chase that's just a bad approach right there either he was looking for something else and got completely full or he was sitting all over the slider and just couldn't resist the temptation but man really expanded right there and didn't have a chance of making contact with that pitch Dylan Cruz getting ready to hit kicks and fires ground off the middle that's a base hit and that keeps the inning going Dylan Cruz with his first major league hit and this is a moment I'm sure he'll never forget congrats yeah a great moment for him and his family a guy works so hard and has to wait so long for this to happen and when it does can kind of be overwhelming boo you still have to stay locked in on the game but it's great when you can take a minute to just appreciate what you've done and how hard youve worked to get here so two down Joey Gallow digging in for the Nationals breing ball through there for a [Applause] [Applause] strike swing in a chase the fast up the ladder for strike three so they've been held scoreless through five it's the Braves W and the Nationals nothing we're back and they make a change to start the six the new pitcher Robert Garcia on for his major league debut so we'll see if he's ready for the big stage he just has to remember this is the same game that he's played all the way through the minor leagues to this point the only difference there just more people in the stands and it's a bigger Stadium but the game itself is still the same look at the catcher whatever fingers he puts down that's what you throw and just let him Lead You In This one and another ball you know these Braves really impressing me with the quality of their bats in this one it's been fun getting a chance to see them go to work they really made that opposing starter work in this one ran his pitch count up and now they've got an opportunity to continue making things difficult on the bullpen rolls across the diamond now one gone in the top of the six first Matt here's Matt Olen and no they haven't broken through in a big way in the runs column but with the way they're grinding out at bats it definitely feels like there's potential for more coming pitch misses there to allow the lead off wall and a swing in a miss and that's the first out and Chris that's a way to neutralize his speed but keeping him off Bas and the defense breathes a s relief because he puts pressure on everyone if he can put the ball in play but that's how you do it keep him off balance get him out of there and deal with the next guy so the lineup flips over here's CJ Abrams to hit the right side and it goes just foul new pitcher for the Braves Ronaldo Lopez and this is the best way to make your major league debut no one on base yeah you're already going to be a little nervous out there so I think it's a nice job by the skipper to get him in here without any added pressure with traffic on the bases back to work 3-2 now a tries to check his swing now look to Third and he went around say Ricky holiday up next now the number two hit James [Applause] Wood late with the swing there action in the pen down there Aaron bmer the left-handed reliever appears to be getting loose Chavez also getting ready [Applause] swung on belted that one carrying go he hammers one out to right his first Homer of the year and we are starting over it's 1-1 well he put a really nice swing on that one and everything was on time took a direct path to the ball excellent extension and just drove it out of here nothing better than when the ball jumps off your bat like that base is empty with one right here as it ties the ball game all even now at 1-1 well welcome back we're in the seventh we have a new pitcher on the map Jacob Barnes on for his major league debut and a moment he will never forget better believe that it's always so special the first time you get into a big league ball game I did it as a position player but for him as a pitcher sure there's some nerves there probably don't want to squeeze the baseball too tight just relax and do what you're capable of doing ah that hit him and the lead off man is aboard to start the inning well the bright side is that that will will help the on base percentage a little bit and that's a category no batter can ignore these days OBP Ops well maybe that'll EAS the pain just a little [Applause] bit got him swinging well that slider was way out of the zone and for me it just comes down to not seeing the pitch out of the hand not tracking it into the zone and then also being a little bit anxious not confident in your two- strike approach and so when a guy's in that position you get him to commit early and a lot of times you get the swing and Miss as you did right [Applause] there Orlando Aria next up for the Braves rander kicks deals stays alive with two strikes may see some movement over there at first base trying to stay out of the double play right here [Applause] [Music] [Applause] ground ball left side and it's just foul that was [Applause] close bouns it off still one and two got him looking he battled for a long time but it finishes with a strike out you can't be mad at yourself after an bat like that one oh just excellent location on that inside fast ball really locked him up and it's a hitter it's not typically what you're looking for you're trying to protect away and then end so you can be a little bit tardy with two strikes hard to tell if he was fooled or if he thought it' be called the ball but either way that's a really nice pitch with the go-ahead run at first here in the top half of inning number seven and another ball that one misses and now three and one Michael Harris next to bat for the Braves two outs and that one off the Inside Edge you walked him oh that could be a big walk in this ball game the goahead run in the scoring position so some pressure pitches coming up in this next ab and now the center fielder Michael Harris he's someone that you might not describe as having Elite level speed but he can absolutely move and it is a factor in his game Bo this guy's definitely a plus Runner but what I'd love about is that he goes all out every single time never takes a break it's guys like that even though they don't have the Elite Speed the fact that they're consistent with it they make moves on the base paths fouled off he was late and the righty deals runs it up to 96 to rec the punch he's in a tough spot had to make a great great pitch did it got the strike out gets out of the jam clearly he's happy with those results bottom of the seventh here's the second base Luis Garcia L Garcia [Applause] leftand hitter waights and that one is lifted in the air kelman under it he's got it one [Applause] down up next and now it's kebert Ruiz R [Applause] [Applause] he swings and hits a Fly ball center field Harris has a beat on it they got it for out number two the third B number eight Jose tenna now at the [Applause] plate big swing in a miss one ball two out space is empty [Applause] swings through that one it's a strike out three up three down for him there eighth inning coming up all tied 1-1 Derek law on the pitch here and he comes on here for the first time the season and I'm sure there's some nerves involved in that so we'll see how he settles in so now to the plate for Atlanta Jorge Solair ball a strike the pitch and there's two away that's a huge defensive play in the late stages of the game it might not be the most challenging we've seen today but it needed to be made that's helping your team and now Matt Olen up up to hit right-handed reliever swinging a Miss as he was late activity in the Washington Bullpen number 53 appears to be getting ready and I'm sure he's feeling some nerves this would be his major fielder Dylan Cru the right Cruz one-1 now pass ball for a strike one ball two [Applause] strikes and now the count is [Applause] even definitely got the hitter conscious of the pitch inside really think the the outer half is [Applause] open that one is absolutely beled that's back there and it's up the wall Parris fires it in quickly and the potential go-ahead run stops at second base a perfect example right there that plate discipline it pays off the deeper he gets into account the more comfortable he becomes and he usually wins the battle Runner and scoring position no outs here's Joey singy you got to appreciate a guy who's this good defensively I mean watching him track balls in the Outfield it is beautiful so how much does his speed factor into his ability to go get it it's heartbreaking for the hitter because off the bat he thinks this Ball's going to get down because of that speed and the ability to make up so much CR he enters the picture and breaks a guy's heart tosses to First and 2 CJ and now up for Washington CJ Abrams and this is a big opportunity for him to pick up his teammate right here two down go ahead run and scoring position swing in a Miss nice change up well if he's going to do something special right here it's going to have to happen with two strikes foul ball still a one and two [Applause] count and the right-hander deals that's hard hit in the line can't get there and into deflex off it runner from thir into the score and a 2-1 ball game now so he gets two Milestones with that hit his first big lead knock and he drives in his first and fires so a foul ball makes it one and two snap throw to first a back in on a dive Abrams off of first with two away and another [Applause] [Music] [Applause] ball run around the goal right side hard hit on to First and that ends the inning but the RBI single pushes across a run last chance coming up here for the the [Applause] Braves back now and on the mound the closer Kyle fin a chance in his first save of the year and now the catcher comes up to him Shawn Murphy cat Murphy looking to get the tying run on base swings and misses and the count is one and two righty to the plate and a swing of a Mill and and a strike out for the first out here in the N well that right there is what you want to see out of your closer come in and close the door cancel any hope that that opponent has in making some type of comeback in the ball game tell you what that helps him settle in and that helps everybody else relax a little bit to get these other two outs one down base is empty and that one fouled off [Applause] the pitch that one ran inside almost got him trying to close out a one-run lead here at the top of the night swing and a miss got him to go up the ladder for the K oh it's kind of tough right here closer comes in and he strikes out the first two hitters it's hard not to feel defeated and that this is going to go quickly but you got to go up there maybe trying to find a way to choke up on the bat spread out put the ball in play and maybe you can extend this inning the Braves down to their last down here's the third baseman Gio Ella next pitch off the pl and that's ball two one-run game here in the top of the ninth just off the Inside Edge big pitch coming here last thing he wants to do is put the tying run on base but he can't Groove one [Music] [Applause] either they're down to their final strike well so many hard throwing relievers in the game these days you would think that hitters have made the adjustment but I don't know if you ever get used to it just pumping gas ground ball and this should do it throw the first in Time bar game and the Nationals hold on to win a tight one as this one ends as a one ball game nice work out of the brookin for that first MLB win boo they turn to him when they didn't have the lead he kept things steady and he's rewarded with the w [Applause]
