🔴LIVE NOW! New York Mets vs. Cincinnati Reds - Sep 7, 2024 MLB Full Game - MLB 24 EN VIVO

just about set our starter in this one Tyler McGill what's the word on him well this guy's just been filthy out there on the mound hitters batting under 200 against him and they're just having a hard time squaring up anything doing any type of damage the only way he hurts himself is if he gives up the free passes and surrenders a rare home run but outside of that it's going to be a tough job for the opposing lineup today and here it comes Jonathan India leading things off it takes a strike rander kicks deals left field Winker on a dead Sprint brings it in with a nice running grab one down here's the lineup for the Reds one of the more high-powered lineups in the game right now it's built to do damage and they got some hitters that could punish the baseball Chris so fun to watch these players take their ADV bats I mean they're so disciplined don't give not just at bats away but really pitches away very aggressive competitive in the zone and when they connect there's usually some loud noise to it so we'll keep our ears open today Ellie de Cruz at the plate and takes High there so here's a fun note on Ellie he became the youngest player in high a ball to Homer from both sides of the plate in the same game and it gets better he did it again two games later those are the type of games that tend to get you promoted in the miners one out base is empty swing and a miss he was late strike two one ball two strike hson misses it's a strike out and that's the first strike out of his major league career and it could be the first of many if he meets the goals he's set for himself and the expectations others have for him he doesn't want to just win games he wants to dominate at this level do you think Young pitchers could sometimes get too caught up in trying to rack up KS early in their career Bo I think they can it's kind of like a hitter that doesn't have power The Thrill is still hitting a ball over the fence and so for a guy even if he doesn't have power stuff or strikeout stuff a strikeout is still something that makes him stick his chest out a little bit [Applause] further two outs and one and two two straight [Applause] in the air right field Taylor moving under it and that is that half inning complete we've got no score back here at City Field and getting to start Jake junis what should we keep an eye on here well he's been a real quality starter for his club and coming into this one what stands out for me is that right-handed hitters have really struggled batting below 200 on the year it seems they have a hard time picking up his release point and tracking the ball into the zone so we'll see how right-handers do against him in this one franisco Lindor in the box now as he leaves that one up high [Applause] that misses the zone and that's ball [Applause] two this one lifted in the air left field Fair ball now he'll turn for second and his first big league hit is it double Francisco Lindor with his first major league hit and this is a moment I'm sure he'll never forget congrats yeah great moment for him and his family a guy works so hard and has to wait so long for this to happen and when it does can kind of be overwhelming boo you still have to stay locked in on the game but it's great when you could take a minute to just appreciate what you've done and how hard you work to get here [Music] here's Brandon nmo trying to pick up his first knock in the big leagues and a foul ball left side Lindor stands at second with no outs [Applause] breaking ball inside ball one definitely a swing and Miss slider down and in he finished that really well just couldn't get him to offer at [Music] [Applause] it and that one finds its way through Lindor zipping around third he'll score in the Mets Take the Lead one nothing so he gets two Milestones with that hit his first big leag knock and he drives in his first run as well yeah you love to get both of those out of the way with just one swing of the bat and it makes the special moment even more special it's not just an individual accomplishment when you're also driving in a run for your team that's an it bad he's never going to forget and now it's Mark vien looking for his first big league hit right here and there's a [Applause] strike kick Sandos and a foul ball that's it [Applause] here's the 02 swings through that one it's a strike out thought it was a pretty good pitch top of the strike zone we're seeing more fast balls in that location hitters especially with two strikes have to be ready to pull the trigger here's Pete Alonzo and the first pitch misses for ball one [Applause] L drive base hit right field they get it in quickly so first and second now one [Applause] out Pete Alonzo with his first major league hit and this is a moment I'm sure he'll never forget congrats yeah great moment for him and his family a guy works so hard and has to wait so long for this to happen and when it does can kind of be overwhelming boo you still have to stay locked in on the game but it's great when you could take a minute to just appreciate what you've done and how hard you worked to get here so first and second with one gone here's Jesse Winker that misses and it's w to know it's great to get on the board in the first frame of the ball game but here's an opportunity for them to really open things up with a couple of Runners on let's see if they can cash in two on one out could be some action here on this next pitch couple Runners on probably a challenge pitch coming and the right-hander deals that one misses three [Applause] and0 and that one off the Inside Edge you walked him so the bases are loaded here one gone so up next for New York Tyrone Taylor golden opportunity right here that one down the line and that's just foul Bas is loaded one away [Applause] I think ultimately you want to tie him up get the ball in on the plate so that he can't get the barrel to it and hit it to the Outfield next pitch is downstairs way to lay off that pitch down on the ground down the line and it's foul kicks and fires fights that one away still one and two and a foul ball he stays alive highfly ball lifted in the air right field squeezes it Runner tags for home tag not in time he's safe it's two zip well that can be a tough one with the bases loaded you can try to do too much but there he didn't he stayed within himself he got that run in with the sack fly would have been nice if the runners behind could have advanced but they'll take what they got Jeff mcneel the next to hit takes ball one ball one no stri there's a strike well I know they've gotten out to an early lead but you don't want to take these opportunities for granted with two outs still lock in with a quality that drive in that run you may not have another runner in scoring position the rest of this ball [Applause] game that one fouled off first and second two [Applause] down and there's the ball recognize that change up right out of the hand just spit on it on the ground right side Rosario tosses the first inning over and it could have been worse but two runs for him and they jump ahead we go on to inning number two it's the Mets two and the Reds nothing second inning set to go here's the center fielder TJ freedo Fredo Migel back to work that misses the zone and that is ball [Applause] one right through there for a strike aside to home PL duty is Ricky holiday Bo and something I've heard players saying about Ricky strike zone is how he will call the high strike that could be something that's tough to deal with especially if you've got a pitcher out there coming at you with high velocity right to the plate next pitch in for a strike and the count one and two one ball two stri good job to fight that one off swings and misses couldn't catch up to the heater I'm not sure sure that was the exact location the pitcher wanted but it worked he got the swing and miss and I'm sure a bit of sigh relief after seeing that one go through the Zone Spencer steer digs in now up the middle Di and he can't hang on he decides to eat it he's in safely and now there's a runner at first Spencer steer with his first major league hit and this is a moment I'm sure he'll never forget congrat yeah great moment for him and his family a guy works so hard and has to wait so long for this to happen and when it does can kind of be overwhelming boo you still have to stay locked in on the game but it's great when you could take a minute to just appreciate what you've done and how hard you work to get here and ready to hit now for Cincinnati Ty France here's the pitch run around the goal ball outside throw to Second and he's out usually when you see a team try to steal a base in the early Innings it tells you they want to be aggressive on offense try to force the defense to make plays and slow them down that's exactly what they did right there so we'll see if that caught stealing changes the offensive approach moving [Applause] forward the Mets leading by two here at the top of the second inside almost got him straighten him up a little [Applause] bit there's a [Applause] strike that's down and in [Applause] popped up foul territory behind the plate makes the grab and that's the inning back here in Queens bottom of the inning here's the catcher Fran Isco Alvarez Alvarez line in the pitch right through there for a [Music] strike Francisco that misses one and one [Applause] and downstairs inside corner for a strike two and two [Applause] now the pitch swings through that and it's a strike out and there's one away it's his first strikeout at this level but it definitely won't be his last so you know these early bats are all part of the process for a rookie and trust me big league pitching just looks different than minor league pitching he still has plenty of opportunities ahead of him in this one [Applause] though the pitch missing inside and it's a ball a strike on the ground right side France steps on the bag already two out here in the home half of inning number two Francisco Lindor Francisco Lindor to the plate now fans love him but he's pretty popular with the players too he certainly is Boo the player survey on mlb.com listed him as one of the friendliest infielders to chat with during a game I'm sure he appreciates the recognition from his peers that one finds the Zone that's strike one the strong second inning is a confidence builder for him a relief for his manager doesn't have to get into that Bullpen quite as early two out space is empty and takes low for ball one one ball two strike [Applause] count wouldn't chase that time [Music] [Applause] two down dolman on just off the outside part of the plate wow this guy's really battling up there as if his run is the game-winning run I love his tenasity and that's ball four that's a great if bad he saw a lot of pitches and earned a walk one of the things about that two out wall the base runner over at first base is going to have a very aggressive secondary lead so a ball down the line or into the Gap will produce a two out RBI and those are the best that is if you will the offensive side of it and a foul ball and the 01 foul ball [Applause] [Applause] there in the air left field drifts towards it that is the inning met strand one as they're unable to add to their two nothing lead and we're back new inning getting started in now for the Reds Jake freyy and the right hter back to work and he lays down a bu and he's safe at first Jake Frey with his first major league hit and this is the moment I'm sure he'll never forget congrats yeah great moment for him and his family a guy works so hard and has to wait so long for this to happen and when it does can kind of be overwhelming boo you still have to stay locked in on the game but it's great when you could take a minute to just appreciate what you've done and how hard you worked to get here so digging in Santiago espinol fast ball for a strike going one espol in the eighth spot in today's lineup and they traded for him earlier this year at the belt and fires and there's a foul ball swings through it for the K slider got him for strike three well he made pretty quick work of him right there you look at the sequence everything down at the knees and below and some guys are good low ball hitters but right there they clearly had a plan to pound that part of the zone and he wasn't able to put up much of a fight and now it's ahed Rosario now move to First Frey back in on a dive it feels like we might be headed towards a rain delay if the weather doesn't ease up Chris yeah the umpiring crew are going to pay attention to how the weather is impacting this game and the moment it becomes dangerous I think is the moment we'll be forced to take a break in the dirt well done behind the dish swing and a miss struck him out all interesting he's looking very comfortable out of the stretch after giving up the lead off single backto back strikeout so they haven't been able to move that runner up get him in the scoring position and try to have a better chance of scoring I tell you good job so far on the mound he just needs one more out so back to the top of the Reds lineup Jonathan Indi at the plate and there's one thing on his mind this at bat getting that first hit at the big league level [Applause] Rudder takes off pitch in for a strike throw save that's a stolen base well he's got a cannon of an arm back there behind the dish a good accurate throw is just as important in controlling the running game so maybe rush just throw a little bit right there didn't finish it off it was high and I think that's what allowed the base runner to make it safely that one close rule the ball and that's ball one on the corner for a strike hot shot to first base and he snacked it to end the inning Reds leave one and they're down two [Applause] nothing set for the bottom of the third and stepping in for New York Mark ventos the wine in the pitch and a base hit man aboard on the lead off single Mark Vientos with his first major league hit and this is a moment I'm sure he'll never forget congrats yeah great moment for him and his family a guy works so hard and has to wait so long for this to happen and when it does can kind of be overwhelming boo you still have to stay locked in on the game but it's great when you could take a minute to just appreciate what you've done and how hard you worked to get here man at first Pete Alonzo up now for the Mets and he's already singled in this game that one's in there that's strike one it really feels like we might be running out of time before a rain delay is called this rain is not letting up yeah and if we do get a delay the unfortunate thing is the clock's going to start ticking on these pitchers and they won't be able to keep their arms warm forever if it's a long break and going to have to exit this game a little early fought off foul well he missed a hitable offe speed pitch right there not sure exactly with the timing sometimes you get a backup break to Second for one a sensational double play the 361 double play in my opinion is one of the toughest plays to make you've got a pitcher covering first and the middle infielder throwing to a moving Target everything has to be perfect and right there they made it look pretty easy here's the left fielder Jesse Winker and first offer ring is fouled off and the righty deals that one off the mark and the count is one and one [Applause] just off the outside [Applause] edge swings through that one out in front that time filthy change up right there just pulled the string gets a piece and stays alive and another ball fouled off again and it remains three and two leftand hitter Waits and it's Ball Four he missed down low it wasn't easy but but he earned that walk after a long atat do you think you could draw a walk in the bigs if we gave you enough advat oh that's a good question um I think that if they gave the pitcher a false scouting report on me yes I think I could draw a walk Taylor stands in here tried to hold back his swing there but went [Music] around here comes a pitch hit in the air right field Frey should have it he makes the grab and that's the inning Mets leave one but they hold a two- nothing lead and welcome back to the ballpark out to the fourth and ready to hit now for Cincinnati Ellie De La Cruz cre and the pitch check swing did he go yes he did well these Reds as this game goes on have to be more disciplined at the plate they're chasing a lot of pitches outside the zone and those chases are turning into a bunch of outs can they turn that around and stay within the Zone we'll see but I think they have to strike on the inside corner inside almost got him one ball two [Applause] straight the onew got him looking for the K fast ball the letters froze him for strike three so up next Tyler Stevenson love it here at City Field you know it replaced old sha Stadium back in 2009 and Chipper Jones was really sad to see it go it's actually the third home of the Mets since they started out at the polo grounds for two seasons before Shay was finished do it one down base is empty he swings and fouls one off and a pitch just misses with that one it's a good take just missed he's really tightening up his Hitting Zone with two strikes here I love [Applause] it and that's in the dir and that's ball three the guy at the plate could recognize slider out of the hand didn't stay in the tunnel very long in terms of depth and perception he knew right away it was an offs speed pitch and he deals foul we'll see another payoff pitch base is empty one away top half of inning number four out to short Lindor sends it across the first two quick outs here in the top of the fourth up next to Cincinnati the center fielder TJ and now the center fielder TJ fredel 0 for one he struck out swinging Last Time come on York first pitch misses well he's so great about hitting the ball the other way he gets those arms extended so right there just trying to straighten him up a little bit so he doesn't have as much outside plate coverage one and one two outs this one smashed down the right field line no trouble here puts it away for the out and that is that nobody left for Cincinnati they're still down it's two [Applause] zip back here at City Field Je mcneel stands in as he turns on the rubber here with that good live arm delivers and first offering is fouled off come on the wide to the pitch just off the Inside Edge movement in the bullpen Tony Anon appears to be getting loose the one-1 foul [Applause] ball the W to kick the pitch that one off the bad part of the bat just a Lazy Fly ball one away that's a really nice play ranging back into the outfield for that catch we all know those can be a little tricky especially if the wind swirling around out therez and here is Francisco Alvarez he was a strikeout victim his first time that's a strike across the top of the Zone that's the third India jumps throws throw is low and he can't pick it Francisco Alvarez with his first major league hit and this is a moment I'm sure he'll never forget congrats yeah great moment for him and his family a guy works so hard and has to wait so long for this to happen and when it does kind of be overwhelming boo you still have to stay locked in on the game but it's great when you could take a minute to just just appreciate what you've done and how hard you've worked to get here and now Bader up to the plate 0 for one he grounded out to First his last time right through there for a [Applause] [Applause] strike he old one little Chopper rolls [Applause] foul and that one is lifted in the air brayley should have it Halls it in for the out out number two now B short Francisco Lind so the batting order turns over Francisco Lindor four comes up to the [Applause] plate right through there for a [Music] strike next offering is in for a strike perhaps not quite ready to hit first two pitches by him for a couple of strikes now back is against the walls going to have to figure something out and figure it out quickly o and two now and right back to the mound sends it to First Lindor retired that's the third out inning over met strand one they're up two nothing back here in Queens now it's the DH Spencer steer steer the pitch splits the plate and it's own and one well these Reds just lacking discipline at the plate in this ball game chasing pitches has been a big part of the story we've seen it quite a bit today it's been tough for them to make contact at times and it just doesn't look like they're seeing it very very well as a [Applause] group and it is two and one and on the mound you know confidence has to be pretty high with all of the swings and misses he's had him eaten out of the palm of his hand pretty much all game well struck right field Taylor moving back out of here he Nails one out to right his first Homer of the year and they've got their first run it's 2-1 he was able to hit one out in this weather are you kidding me how did he do [Applause] that Proby almost robbed the home run right there and I tell you what he'd love another cack at it during batting practice you always like to work on that and so close but that one was just out of his reach [Music] Ty France the next to hit for the Reds check swing and that's a ball [Applause] oh the one fast ball for a strike always exciting to see a leadoff home run and an inning kind of gets the offense fired up and you start to expect a big [Applause] inning good eye right there [Music] here fouls one off two and two the Mets up by a run and we the top of the fif chases the fast ball up the ladder struck him out Jake Frey the next to hit for the [Applause] Reds that's in for a strike at 95 one [Applause] one top of the zone and it's called a strike all right now he may have not liked either of those first two pitches or agreed with the umpire's call Falls but at this point he's going to have to bear down and be ready to hit anything close to the Zone one down base is empty stays alive ooh missed a mistake right [Applause] there tap dances out of the way that one out keeps the back going with a foul [Music] ball got him swinging picks up strike out number seven prob he showed a lot of conviction with the fast ball there not just because of the Velocity but also the ability to command it on the inside part of the play the last thing you want to do with two strikes is just get too far in there and it gets away and hits the batter so when I see a two- strike fast ball Bunch up a guy like that it tells me there's a lot of confidence in that pitch espo the next to hit takes outside this one in the air right field Taylor moving under it and that is that but not before they answer back with a solo home run and it's now a 2-1 ball game it's major league baseball and it's on the show back now to start the bottom of the fifth and taking over on the mound Tony stition on for his major league debut so we'll see if he's ready for the big stage he just has to remember this is the same game that he's played all the way through the minor leagues to this point the only difference there just more people in the stands and it's a bigger Stadium but the game itself is still the same look at the catcher whatever fingers he puts down that's what you throw and just let him Lead You In This one and a pitch swing and a pop off in foul ground India drifts towards it and there's one down well that was a pitch you got to crush unbelievable that he missed it right there I'm telling you he is going to be frustrating with himself until his nexted back stepping in the long ball threat Mark Vientos one for two and ball one let's [Applause] go sh missed the pitch swing and a miss as he was out front that [Applause] time the pitch and that one fouled Off Pitch misses Full Count three and two [Music] [Applause] rander kicks deals flyball down the line Frey sizing this one up makes the catch and there's two away now batting the first Beman Pete and now it's the polar bear Pete Alonzo [Applause] inside just missed two down nobody on last half of inning number [Applause] five just [Applause] missed 20 and a foul ball two down nobody on that one fouled off two and two righty delivers fights it off he'll see another two outs and down on strikes he goes and a nice inning of work there as he sets him down one two three nothing doing for the Mets but they still lead it two to one set for the top of the six and stepping in is the Speedy Ahmed Rosario you know this guy's great speed is in the back of that pitcher's mind if he can get on it's going to give him one more thing he's got to think about swing in a Miss as he was late that time [Applause] one next offering upstairs [Applause] and the rander deals line drive and a base hit right [Applause] there Ahmed Rosario with his first major league hit and this is a moment I'm sure he'll never forget congrats yeah great moment for him and his family a works so hard and has to wait so long for this to happen and when it does can kind of be overwhelming boo you still have to stay locked in on the game but it's great when you could take a minute to just appreciate what you've done and how hard you've worked to get here so the lineup flips over now here's the Red's leadoff man Jonathan India that's in there that's strike one [Music] [Applause] and a pitch that and a curb misses outside that one the other way calls it in one away that's a big first out of the inning he showed off his skills catching the line drive but most importantly he kept the runner out of scoring position things would look a little different if he didn't make that play Ellie De La Cruz now at the plate thereo for two with a pair of strikeouts move to First Rosario Dives back in on the ground right side and there's a hit lead Runner makes the turn at second throw comes into third and the throws offline safe at third Ellie De La Cruz with his first major league hit and this is the moment I'm sure he'll never forget congrats yeah great moment for him and his family a guy works so hard and has to wait so long for this to happen and when it does can kind of be overwhelming boo you still have to stay locked in on the game but it's great when you could take a minute to just appreciate what you've done and how hard you work to get here two onone out and now Tyler Stevenson [Applause] fast ball in for a strike it's own and [Applause] one and a good eye there this is a situation where the hitter is looking for something up in the zone that he can get his arms extended what you have to be careful of is that pitch that's up that's in on your hands that'll pop up in the infield and that's exact base runner with a one-way lead right there all he's trying to do is get a look at the pitcher move had no intent of stealing on that pitch and that's outside and that's ball two it's a big opportunity right here but I love the way he's slowing the game down he's shrinking his Zone making sure he gets the pitch that he wants to hit kicks andand deal outside that's a ball Chris with that distraction and the Speedy guy at first he's in a favorable hitters count well if nothing else I mean this is a great spot for a hitter to be in and that one fouled off Runners at the corners one away and we're the top half of the sixth got him looking huge strike out there well they were pretty much giving it to him right there playing the infield back you're looking for on offense is a simple ground ball you got a tie ball game not sure what he was thinking up there strike out looking is the last thing you want to see now you got to hope the next guy can pick you up and come through with a big two out hit so now it's the Four Hole hitter TJ [Applause] Fredo line drive and that's a base hit into center field runner from third comes across it's 22 so he gets two Milestones with that hit his first big league knock and he drives in his first run as well yeah you love to get both of those out of the way with just one swing of the bat and it makes the special moment even more special it's not just an individual accomplishment when you're also driving in a run for your team that's an it bad he's never going to forget now Spencer steer he's already homered here in this one that's off the mark and that's ball [Music] one Dela Cruz on second Fredo on it first with two now [Applause] bounced up the middle and that one handled they take the force out they limit the damage here but the RBI single pushes across a run and we're deadlocked now at two AP piece it's Major League Baseball on the show and we're back ready to go for the last half of the inning and stepping in for New York Jesse Winker [Applause] and the right hander back to work that one way outside ball one activity in the bullpen Sam mole the young Lefty looks to be getting himself ready pagad also getting [Applause] ready left hand batter waights Clips the corner and the count one and one [Applause] righty to the plate and a ground ball to First and it goes just foul right-handed reliever that's the ball two ball two stri and now it's filled [Applause] up knocks that one away and we'll do it again 32 BS that off to the left and will do it again ground ball to the right side and foul ball kicks and fires a to swing and a miss he didn't make it easy for him on the mound but they still get the strike out I think he was waiting on the change up right there and he got it it just drifted to far in on him I think that pitch is just a little more out over the plate probably squares it up but instead he's going to have to go take a seat and next for the Mets Tyrone Taylor he's over for one first pitch and he just misses [Applause] one down base is empty next pitch in for a strike and it's one and [Applause] one and the slider just misses all tied up here in the bottom of the six [Applause] and another ball still just the second batter of the inning and on the mount he's already thrown 13 pitches they got him working hard out [Applause] there and here it comes inside ball four maybe a little loss of focus on the mound right there pretty much gifted in first base with a quick free pass and now here's Jeff mcneel [Applause] that's in there and that's strike one there was a high velocity fastball in the zone I think a little frustration from walking the previous hitter got good stuff pitch inside the zone and trust it here comes Yan right through there for a strike the two strikes may see some movement over there at first base trying to stay out of the double play right [Applause] here outside low now one and two he's gone off speed he needs to elevate here with two strikes out of the zone swing and a popup foul territory for the catcher brings it in to down that was a good pitch to hit right down the heart of the plate had pretty good timing on it just got underneath a little bit and popped it up Alvarez Francisco Alvarez up now for the Mets sanon with a move to First and he's back in easily Alvarez 22 2 years old and he was born in Venezuela and there's a strike on the outside corner and it's 0 and one here comes a pitch and a pop up right side foul territory Rosario flashes the leather on the running catch Mets leave one score remains deadlocked of 22 welcome back we're in the seventh we have a new pitcher on the M Shawn manah on for his major league de and a moment he will never forget better believe that it's always so special the first time you get into a big league ball game I did it as a position player but for him as a pitcher sure there's some nerves there probably don't want to squeeze the baseball too tight just relax and do what you're capable of doing the line and the pitch France stands in now and watches strike one highfly ball out towards left Center Bader racing after after it tracks it down for the out and there's one down every day during batting practice these outfielders get about 10 minutes of balls in the gaps they practice this and when the game comes they make the play perfectly and now here is Jake Frey first offering misses badle for ball one action in the pen down there Adam adino appears to be getting ready and I'm sure he's feeling some nerves this would be be his major league debut M getting cranked up as well next pitch misses and the count is two and0 that one missing inside I would expect in this 3oh count you're taking all the way see if they'll walk you and he walked him well he tried to nibble right there and just missed his spot hit didn't offer at it now he has somebody to worry about over at first man at first with one gone and the batter will be the short stop Santiago espinol the short stop takes the ball B one no strike now snap throw to first and he's just back in OH Close play trying to keep this two two game here in the top half of inning number seven well this is a good time to step out of the box take a deep breath reset couple of change UPS probably won't see another one here breaking ball and that got him well he's just glad they got hit with an off speed pitch there instead of a fast ball man that would have hurt a lot more if it had velocity Ahmed Rosario the next to hit feels like it's less common today that you see a guy like this the speed component the contact component but lack of power he just has to understand that his skill set is unique and he's very valuable for any ball Club if he does that he'll play a long time in this league one out the goahead run is it second in there at the knees and it's nothing in popped up right side mcneel in Pursuit calls it in two [Applause] away the third Jonathan back to the top of the lineup Jonathan India the next to hit for the Reds come on and there's the [Applause] strike next one is off the play one ball one strike two outs couple of base runners at first and second wouldn't chase that time plate umpires trying to tighten things up a little bit next offering is in for a [Applause] strike and a slinging a Miss they miss a big chance to take the lead here late sometimes he wears the emotion on the sleeve but that's okay as long as you get results and right there thrilled with the punch out to get out of a jam [Applause] we're back in a new pitcher here to start the bottom of the seventh Emilio Pagan and this is the best way to make your major league debut no one on bits yeah you're already going to be a little nervous out there so I think it's a nice job by the skipper to get him in here without any added pressure with traffic on the bases here's the center fielder Harrison Bader the pitch that one's in there strike one man I mean nice job just presenting it to be better than it actually [Applause] was and a bunt towards third and that's how side and the count one and [Applause] two swing and a miss struck him out and now one away well that's always the key to effective pitching is getting ahead in the count and as a pitcher it really allows you to start expanding The Zone hitters become defensive and all of a sudden that plate starts to get really wide and what happens is because of the pressure you end up committing to a pitch as a batter before you recognize what it is and that's what leads to the [Applause] strikeout swings and pulls it foul to the right side B is empty one away here the bottom of the seven that misses the zone now one and two and another [Applause] ball and a pitch bouns it back with two strikes two two now and a foul ball he stays alive close but called the ball Full Count now and he grounds one to the right side to was a long battle at the plate but they still managed to get the out the designated numbero Brandon nmo up now for the Mets strike one hold one's the count good eye on that spot [Applause] the one- one is fouled off two down dolman on Sharp grounder that's through for a base hit he was all over that one pretty tough for the infielders to do anything with that one he pulled it into the Outfield and even when you keep it on the ground it feels great when you hit a missile like [Applause] that now the third baseman Mark Vientos one for three up the middle lays out but he can't squeeze it he doesn't have a throw and the defense PS away with nothing couple of singles back to back now a good opportunity to potentially Jump Ahead in this game here in the later in so two on with two away next is the clean up hitter for the Mets Pete [Applause] Alonzo nmo the lead runner at second Vientos at first two out of the inning and now the count is even one and one [Applause] this one high in the air to left Center un he's got it and that'll end the inning two left for the Mets score remains 2-2 ready to begin the eighth in now for the Reds Ellie De La Cruz this guy a player that if he gets on base has the ability to really be aggressive getting around the base PS manah back to work out to short and that one finds its way through a lead off single and the go-ahead run is aboard well clearly he was ready to hit right there just one of those scen eye base hits through the infield he just kind of rolled over on it a little bit but sometimes those can find a hole and get you a n and now a chance to maybe get creative on offense with good speed on first here's the catcher to hit Tyler Stevenson oh for three a fly out of the tag and got him at second that one misses ball one count one and0 all tied up and we're in the top of the [Applause] eighth fouled off he was late b a strike the pitch good eye right there and that one a little bit High TJ frel up next for the Reds one down BCE is empty rolled softly but that goes foul definitely got the hitter conscious of the pitch inside really think the outer half is open outside and that is ball four so now here's the Red's cleanup hitter TJ frel known for his late inning heroics on the ground to third fires to Second for one and that's two Petry in motion there as the second baseman turns the double play nice throw to first and that's the way to end the [Applause] inning so a new arm out of the bullpen for the Reds Dam Mo bringing in the Lefty with the left-handed hitter coming up to hit classic Bullpen move right here so we'll see how it works out so digging in Jesse Winker win the pitch and fouled [Applause] off the pitch swing and a miss o and2 now another 02 count right here pitcher just in the driver's seat he can go anywhere he wants to go right here and that one hit to first France takes it to the bag one gone to the bottom of the eight you want to be a great defense you have to deliver consistently it doesn't matter how many highlight reel plays you make if you can't execute the small stuff just like we saw so up next for New York Tyrone Taylor oh he doesn't get the call and it's w to know double barreled action in the bullpen Alexis Diaz loosening up for Manager David Bell farmer also throwing little bit High two and oh B is empty one away here the bottom half of the eighth inning grab ball up the middle On The Run sends it over to first save Tyrone Taylor with his first major league hit and this is a moment I'm sure he'll never forget congrats yeah great moment for him and his family a guy works so hard and has to wait so long for this to happen and when it does can kind of be overwhelming boo you still have to stay locked in on the game but it's great when you could take a minute to just appreciate what you've done and how hard you work to get here that's going with a pinch hitter number 11 big spot for him here ous right through there for a strike at the belt and fires that missed inside and now it's even one and [Applause] one there's a strike swing and and a miss struck him out the high heat too much on that one Bo gets talked about a lot but a good high fast ball and a two strike situation it's just become such a problem for hitters in more recent years but with all of the emphasis by pitchers on developing that spin rate having a good grip on the baseball those High fast balls they kind of look like to The Hitter that they're Rising even though they're not but they're not decreasing in velocity and spin rate so very difficult to get the barrel on it Alvarez in the box now take strike one here's the 01 swinging a foul over the screen and back out of play two gone the possible goahead run at first and now one and two one ball two strikes count got him third out that ends the frame well this guy competes hard we see the emotion there I love it great job of getting out of the jam so coming into the game now now on defense Pablo Reyes he'll play second and now the DH Spencer steer he's already homered in this game and he deals and the pitch a little bit low ball [Applause] one the Lefty ready and a one-1 that one almost got him swing and a miss two and two chases that one out of the zone and a strike out for the first out here in the ninth he just ran out of patience there he took a couple of pitches to even that count up at two balls and two strikes but that time chased outside the zone and here's the first baseman Ty France there at the knees strike one oh one's the count one down base is empty and that one missing low up the middle Reyes in plenty of time to First and that quickly two away that's what a good Sinker is designed to do get a guy to roll over a little bit hit the ball on the ground kill some worms while you're at it next for Cincinnati Jake Frey pitch misses inside and that's ball one would chase that [Applause] time and the pitch rips one to right and that's just foul two down nobody on here at the top of the night RI to third toss to Alonzo and that is that nothing doing here this half and 912 scheduled to lead off the bottom of the night we are tied 2 two back now as they hand the ball to a fresh arm to start the bottom of the night Buck farmer and he comes on here for the first time this season and I'm sure there's some nerves involved in that so we'll see how he settles in so now a pinch hitter Starling Marte he represents the winning run Mar the wi to the pitch the other way and a base hit takes the turn he's digging for second here comes the throw and he greets the new arm from the bullpen with a double Starling Marte with his first major league hit and this is a moment I'm sure he'll never forget congrats yeah great moment for him and his family a guy works so hard and has to wait so long for this to happen and when it does can kind of be overwhelming boo you still have to stay locked in on the game but it's great when you can take a minute to just appreciate what you've done and how hard you work to get here and now it's Frankie Lindor there's a strike winning run at second no outs we're in the last half of the ninth inning just missed if he's able to connect on that look out [Applause] the winning run on second base the short stop takes a [Applause] ball outside low two and two they tried to get him to go chase the pitch down and away but he wouldn't bite cuts and misses it's a strike out Brandon nmo getting ready to hit well first base open really no reason to pitch to this hitter right here put him on have the force at second first perhaps getting anying ending double play Swing and a miss strike one come and get me fast right there he didn't look ready for the velocity I think it'd be a mistake to throw him anything off speed right here pitch misses one and [Applause] one comeb backer to the mound tosses to first that's it out well there's a lot riding on that at bat right there nice job of the pitcher to Bear Down make the pitch get the ground ball excellent piece of work now a chance for Mark Vientos oh look out here he's going to come up ready to swing in this [Applause] situation and that's outside and that is ball [Applause] one and another ball winning run in scoring position with two away here in the last half of inning number nine swings and misses and it's two and one now wow no fair right there I mean that SL move to the very last moment incredibly difficult to pick that up just kind of have to tip your cap on that pick Pete Alonzo in the on deex Circle hoping to get a chance to make a big impact here this guy's got good power with one swing he can win it for him the right-hander gives up the two out walk I don't think he really wanted to pitch to him right there anyhow and stepping in for New York Pete Alonzo and there's no doubt that they'll feed off the energy from this crowd right I mean yeah I'd say the intensity level has gone up a few notches for sure misses inside one and0 well he's already in some trouble and falling behind in the count makes it even worse then you've got to throw the ball over more of the plate and that's where they can really do damage against a guy like this trying to send this the SE Innings and a count one and [Applause] two the pitch swing and a miss that one in the dirt and they get out of the jam well done to finish off the strikeout at in the inning so they can't push across the winning run and that means free baseball here this afternoon we are tied 22 so remaining in the game defensively Starling Marte he'll be out in center now after pinch hitting and ready to hit now for Cincinnati Santiago espol Santiago espol manah back to work all one there right through there for a [Applause] strike and now the Lefty and strike two one ball two strikes and it's second that's a little bit low [Applause] got him [Applause] swinging in now for the Reds Ahmed Rosario Chris his skill set straight out of the mid 80s good contact not much power and he could run always uses the wheels to his Advantage his biggest challenge in this day and age is to not get caught up in trying to hit home runs because so many people are and that one fouled off I think baseball's starting to understand that those guys are valuable like they once were they need him in this game today now a check on of it second back safely one out the goahead run is it second and here in Extra Innings late swing fouled off he swings and hits a Fly ball center field and that'll fall for a base hit now a long throw home not in time he beat it and they've got the lead just a clutch it bat right there big time swing when this team really needed it these days most outfielders play pretty deep and I'm not sure if that was a factor there or not but off the bat you're thinking it's going to be a pop out and it just kind of nestled into that spot where no one was able to get to it and now they've got some speed on first so we'll see if they try to get him into motion to the batter now Jonathan India in for a strike going and one [Applause] [Applause] and the pitch swinging a foul straight back one run acrossing the frame so far here the top half of the 10 and look out that one gets him the second man he's plunked in this one anytime one of your hitters gets drilled it catches everyone's attention in The Dugout and you know what it kind of gets you fired up [Music] in the box with one away as he takes ball one double play ball to Second Lindor that's one and that's all they'll get now Tyler ston now the catcher up to hit Tyler Stevenson pitch is in there strike one Runners out first and third two away here in Extra [Applause] Innings left the out of the stretch Runners at first and third battling here as he fouls it away the O2 stays alive that's foul off to the right side keeps the ab going rasario the runner at third Dela Cruz on it first with two now and one and two gets a piece and stays alive five foul balls in this bat so far and these two are going head to-head you can see the crowd they're starting to get into it a little bit more and more each pitch even though there hasn't been a ball in play yet kicks and spoils the two strike pitch and he'll see another grinding AB right here about to see Pitch number 10 just off the inside corner two and two really good take especially with two strikes manah keeping an eye on him two on two outs gets a piece there we'll do it again two two that one ran inside almost got him the pitch to the right side over to First that ends the inning and stops things from getting out of hand but they pick up one run on the RBI single it's now a 32 ball game you're watching Major League Baseball on the show we're back and on the mound is the closer Brent Suter a chance at his first save of the year Jesse Winker up now for the Mets oh how he'd love to walk it off right [Applause] here here comes a pitch that just misses ball one in today's game outs are valuable so guys aren't just willing to give themselves up to advance a runner they're trying to drive him in as well in the process so I don't expect him to shorten up and just try to hit behind the runner here swings and misses and the count one and one just [Applause] missed late with the swing there swings through it and that's a strike out well that right there is what you want to see out of your closer come in and close the door cancel any hope that that opponent has in making some type of comeback in the ball game tell you what that helps him settle in and that helps everybody else relax a little bit to get these other two outs Taylor in the Box here lets that one go for a ball with the tying run at second winning run at the plate and we're in the last half of the 10 next offering is down [Applause] low fast ball for a strike well that's really the money spot down and away if you can locate that consistently it's going to be real tough for hitters to square that up that's what love to see relievers do coming out of that bull [Applause] pit fall off foul Jak swing now a look down to First no swing just held it back there swing and a miss got him to go up the ladder for the K so last chance for the Mets Pablo Rees stands in came into the game on defense so his first trip to the plate here [Applause] here foul off down the right side with the winning run at the plate and the home team trying to pull it out line drive and he makes the catch ball game and the Reds strand the tying run on base to win it nice work out of the bullpen for that first MLB W boo they turn to him when they didn't have the lead he kept things steady and he's rewarded with the w 32 the final score a onrun Extra Inning win for Chris Singleton and our entire crew here at MLB the Show thanks for stopping by I'm John shami talk to you soon that's

To go and starting this one number 38 safe to say he's pretty stingy chris well he's been a very dependable starter for his club and what stands out for me is that left-handed hitters have really struggled batting below 200 against him and it just tells me they have a hard time tracking the baseball...
