and on the hill here today Mitchell Parker and singy it's Unique these days but he's more of a pitch to contact type of guy yeah Bo he doesn't rely too heavily on the strike out he knows he needs to miss barrels get some soft contact let the defense do work behind him and I think a guy like that can keep a good Tempo don't give hitters time to adjust or think they can move through a ball game and you look up they're in line for a quality start we'll see what he's got in this one Jazz Chism J now at the plate as he swings through strike [Applause] one first pitch [Music] 136 next offer in there for a stri and the count is 0 and two the line of the pitch popped up Abrams on the Move no trouble here puts it away for the out and there's one down and time now for the Marlins lineup and so far this year this has not been a very good offense well in this day and age if you can't slog and get on base that Ops has to be at a certain level if you're going to produce runs give your pitchers an opportunity as they're facing tough offenses as well Ryan De La Cruz the next up for the Marlins wouldn't chase that time one down base is empty hard grounder into the outfield for a [Applause] knock couldn't have timed it up any better than that couldn't get any air under it but he smoked that ball back up middle timing was just perfect got great wood on it and there's just no chance for the infielders with how hard he hit it Josh Bell at the plate now and a good eye [Applause] [Music] [Applause] there fou back ourway and that's out of play and the Pitch hit hard that gets through they fired in quickly so it's first and second with only one away and next will be the cleanup hitter Jake burer that Clips a corner [Music] kicks and fires that one F hard the other way Dela Cruz on second Bell over at first with one away got him looking and he did not like the call just locked him up right there for the second out and that's the B he probably going to think about for a little while didn't pull the trigger not how you want to go down in an RBI spot so now you got to hope your teammate behind you can pick you up pesu Sanchez the next to hit swinging a foul straight [Applause] back first and second two down and we're just getting started here in the top of the first headed towards the corner reaches for it but it's [Applause] foul the pitch that's a ball that's a really good job of laying off the O2 High fast balls going to make that pitcher really have to respect this hitter even though he's behind in the count waves at the Bender for the strike down no runs on two hits no errors and two men left stranded now it'll be Washington's turn it's a scoreless ball game back here in Nationals Park and on the hill here today Jesus lazardo and Chris pitching on the road has not been particularly kind to him yeah and you don't want to be too quick to say that he can't pitch on the road sometimes you know it's just a matter of lock it's not having a feel difference between the bullpen mound to the mound out there on the playing field don't know what it is but I know this he's got good enough stuff to overcome and get it done on the road as well as at home so we'll see what is able to do in this one CJ ABS leading things off and takes a [Applause] strike on the ground and that's just foul [Applause] next offering way off the [Applause] plate the pitch well this is a guy that can be frustrating for pitchers because he fouls off so many pitches and grinds out the advat I'm sure there's sometimes where pitcher would rather just give up a first pitch single than R six or seven pitches on one hitter chase the fast up the ladder for strike three oh that high foring fast has become such a great pitch for pitchers to finish hitters off they're trying to stay back with two strikes make sure that they can handle something off speed and just with good spin rate good rotation through the Zone elevated a little bit get a lot of swings and misses and that's a really nice job right there [Applause] and that's in for a strike one out base is [Music] empty out to Center Chisum on his way over they got it for out number two that third as we take a look at the Nationals lineup a really frustrating showing for them in their last game lots of traffic on the bases but they left a ton of Runners on base couldn't cash in their chances Chris they had plenty of chances there's nobody to blame it on but themselves offensively they just did a poor job converting in those situations you have to figure out what's your plan going to be maybe watch some tape from the last game make the adjustment so if you get those opportunities in this one you've got a much better chance of scoring some runs two out space is empty that one out side and the count is one and [Applause] one comes up empty that's strike two really need to hang in there with that front side against this left-handed breaking ball that one 95 to finish him off so nothing in the Washington half of the first we're scoreless through an inning at Nationals Park on the show top of the second now it's the second baseman Auto Lopez Auto Lopez batting sixth in today's lineup they got him off of waivers earlier this season and that curveball drops in there for a strike back him with the breaking ball just got the corner it's nothing you can really do with that headed down the Rosario no left Rosario the pitch that one off the bad part of the bat just a Lazy Fly ball that gets down for a hit man aboard on the lead off single first P swing in went up there with the plan to be aggressive he clearly didn't catch that one on the big part of the bat just kind of muscled it out there and you know on the mound it can be pretty frustrating for a pitcher but you just kind of have to expect those to drop in there [Applause] sometimes Luis Garcia the next hit takes ball [Applause] one step off throw to first Rosario Dives back in when you're taking your lead over there at first you got to be very careful this guy on the Mounds got a good pickoff move the one on the ground a second might be two there's one he's out back to First and that is a double play sometimes double plays get turned so quickly that you don't really to appreciate all of the finer details and how these guys execute them right there really nice footwork and a good feed to Second was the key to pulling it off and now it's kebert Ruiz that one fouled off [Applause] top of the zone for C strike this guy's pounding the Zone hitters don't have time to think in between pitches stairs two that hit him and the lead off man is aboard to start the inning go ahead run on base and now Jake burer caught looking his first time up that one ripped plays it on a bounce and it eats him [Applause] up well a swing like that can help you come out of the struggle we saw the numbers coming into the ball game but all he's trying to do at this point is help his team win first and second no outs and now Jesu Sanchez just missed oh one no [Applause] [Applause] stri and fouled [Applause] off left hand batter WS that one hit to right he's under it PS it in for the out yeah that was a wasted RBI opportunity but competitor like him he is looking forward to make it up for it in his next at bat so up next Otto Lopez his first at bat was a strike out definitely wants to stay out of the double play here ball on the ground in the infield should be an inning ending dou play first pitch just misses at the dish looking to lift the ball in the air in this spot anything but the inning ining double play boo outside and it's two and0 could be some action here on this next pitch couple Runners on probably a challenge pitch coming and here it comes fall off foul two on one out bottom of the zone and a called strike double play ball to Second there's one and that's two well the second Bas made that one look easy great feed to the short stop Short Stop completes the play they get out of a jam and they end the inning ready to go botom four here's CJ ABS to hit you know this is kind of a tough match up as a left-handed hitter facing a left-handed pitcher what you tell yourself is I want to stay Square to the plate try to hit the ball over the short Stop's head right through there for a strike that misses the zone and now it's even one and one kicks andos and that one sliced [Music] foul way outside and the count is two and two just off the outside part of the plate really good take especially with two strikes outside and that is ball four that could jump start an offense that's really struggled to score in this one don't want to wake a team up with the free pass here's Lane Thomas old for one with a fly out to [Applause] Center would chase that time [Applause] that's the slider in there for a strike that's a great take right there even though it's a strike with the situation runner on first base you want to keep the ball off the ground and you swing at that pitch most likely you roll into a double [Applause] play next one misses three balls in a D oh they have had a hard time scoring in this one the pitcher out there on the M wants to keep attacking make sure that they don't get any confidence over the first and he [Applause] save and now it's filled up the two strikes may see some movement over there at first base trying to stay out of the double play right here spoils the two strike pitch and he'll see another definitely got the hitter conscious of the pitch inside really think the outer half is open on the ground to the left finds it way through base hit throw back in quickly first and second now with nobody out oh just a nice job coming through a pretty high leverage spot right there just found a way to slap that ball down Baseline that's really excellent back control and it kind of goes back to all those drills you see hitters do off the team where it's placed in different spots was nice runner in scoring position now and a good opportunity to push across the first run of the ball game here's Jesse Winker and that one fouled [Applause] off and he deals the Nationals with a chance to score first we're here at the bottom of the [Applause] four and a swing and a miss and that is a big first [Applause] out two on one out so next will be the four hitter for the Nationals Eddie Rosario one for one with a single so [Applause] far that one finds the Zone that's strike one well he's been incredibly efficient in this one first pitch strike percentage over 70% that's well above League average and that's what's allowed him to pitch well up until this point makes the grab the number two second basan Lu Garcia and now it's Luis Garcia he hit into a double play his first time off [Applause] and fouled off Abrams at second Thomas on it five John Shi with Chris Singleton and leading it off Nick Gordon as the Lefty gets to work swings through that one for strike one you know these Marlins as this game goes on have to be more disciplined at the plate chasing pitches has been a big part of the story we've seen it quite a bit today it's been tough for him to make contact at times and it just doesn't look like they're seeing it very well as a [Applause] group Anderson here's Tim Anderson he's over for one [Applause] next offering popped in the air right field he's got it and there's one down and on the mound you know confidence has to be pretty high with all of the swings and misses he's had him eaten out of the palm of his hand pretty much all game and here's the catcher nit [Applause] [Music] [Applause] fortez two and that skips in the dirt well with the amount of pitches that can end up in the dirt a good secondary lead doesn't have to get away from the catcher but if you're anticipating based off the trajectory can't GL it cleanly but plenty of time to recover and that's the second out that's a good piece of hit right there the job was to move the runner up and give your team a chance to score the go aad run that's exactly what happened so you better believe your teammates are happy with you after [Applause] back Chis in the box now Tak strike [Applause] one foul off he was [Applause] late three got him swinging out number three sometimes he wears the emotion on the sleeve but that's okay as long as he get results and right there thrilled with the punch out to get out of a jam ready to go for the last half for the inn and now up for Washington Hebert Ruiz and a pitch and that one missing low Ruiz 25 years old and he was born in [Applause] Venezuela that misses the zone and the count is two [Applause] and0 and a pitch well you can't really adjust your game plan for that last pitch guy hasn't thrown it very much you got to focus on the stuff that he's throwing up there most of the time missed with a change up and the count is three and one in the air on the infield makes the catch and there's one down good hard fast his own right there they look really good coming in but so hard to get on top of as a hitter now it's Nick senzel grounded out his first time ripped to short Anderson to first man for the fifth inning moving along two quick outs the Joey here's Joey Gallow walk perfect ability draw walks has been something that's been part of his career since day one runner at first for two away here's the center fielder went down looking on three pitches last time have to see how he looks but to me it appears he's moving pretty well I think it's just going to sting for a while but hopefully nothing more up now for Washington CJ Abrams F off foul [Applause] the front shoulder there's no way you keep that ball Fair an outstanding job mechanically he deserves that head and here's the DH for Washington Jesse Winker first pitch misses well a really rough inning out there on the mound and uh this is one of those where you learn a lot about a guy's toughness and his ability to turn the page and keep pressing forward just missed struggled a little bit in this one couple of strikeouts earlier but doing a much better job in this at bat to get ahead and find a good hitter count at two and0 next pitches downstairs SIDS of activity in the pen for the Marlins Dean Cronin the young rander up and throwing [Applause] let's see if he gives him anything to hit here that Clips the [Applause] corner the pitch this one Smash down the right field line no trouble here puts it away for the out and that'll do but the biggest swing of the inning comes right here a three-run homer it's now a 4 nothing ball game it's major league baseball and it's on the show top Tardy on that fast B great job of setting him up by throwing the curveball add some velocity to it on the next pitch can't catch up that one is upstairs one ball two strikes to count down and in moved and these two are going head to-head you can see the crowd they're starting to get into it a little bit more and more each pitch even though there hasn't been a ball in play yet grinding AB right here about to see Pitch number 10 outside and that is ball four it wasn't easy but he earned that walk after a long at bat when you go that deep into it a bat The Hitter usually comes out on top one gone close that Gap but you know at the very least if you could find a way to manufacture that run from first it feels like it's really important of getting back into this ball game the pitch foul ball nothing new pitcher for the Marlins Dean Cronin he's having a ton of success facing left-handed hitters this season so this seems like a smart move to turn to him with a lefty at the plate so now it's the hter Eddie Rosario no left field Eddie [Applause] Rosario the pitch inside just missed foul ball and the right-hander deals ground ball up the middle Anderson the throw to first one up one down Nevada number two second baseman L next to hit for the Nets Luis Garcia [Applause] we try to get him to chase on the change up that time movement in the bullpen a right-hander appears to be getting the pitch fast ball for strike usually when a pitcher's had a dominant outing he has filled up the strike zone and he's gotten ahead in the count with first pitch strikes well that's exactly what this for a big swing of the bat right here try to close that Gap but you know at the very least if you could find a way to manufacture that run from first it feels like it's really important getting back into this ball game in the dirt throw is low and he can't pick it so a wild pitch allows the runner to advance well that's part of the risk when you throw a breaking ball in the dirt even as good as catchers are these days at blocking pitches that one just got away enough and that takes the double play opportunity away for now the fish down by four here the top half of inning number seven and a be Nick forz Nick forz the wi of the pitch Parker still out there to pitch the eighth and working with a big lead he's been excellent really on his game in this one and at this point he wants to finish what he [Applause] started swing and a miss and he got him picks up strike out number seven he came out of his mechanics there typically likes to shoot the ball the other way but that time a little anxious so the batting order turns over and now for the Marin Jazz Chisum Jr and a good eye there is there a debate to be had about shutting him down maybe to preserve some bullets given a score absolutely when you consider over the course of a long season guys putting a lot of stress on that elbow on that shoulder but you also have to pry the ball out of a hand of a guy like this because he's so competitive and another ball [Applause] and that's off the Inside Edge and that's ball three ground ball left side and it's through for a [Applause] hit showed some really nice and that at worked himself into a good count just a simple ground B the other way had eyes on it man sometimes that's all you need to do just let the ball travel put the ball in play and just hope it doubt we'll a new pitcher in a minute a new arm into the game the righty punter Harvey and he's got a nice to work so he should come in throwing strikes attacking these [Applause] hits now the number two hitter Brian De La Cruz one for three and that one is inside Harvey in his Fifth Season he features a four seam fast ball a splitter a slider and he occasionally uses a curve righty to the plate and that one a little below the knees and the count is two and0 and there's a strike good heater at [Applause] 98 up and in and now three and one Chisum leads off first with one [Applause] away back it's the top of the n and there's a new pitcher on the mound Tanner Rainey left-handed batter at the plate and he's been excellent in those matchups this year so this seems like a calculated move at a batter down Jesus [Applause] Sanchez and a pitch that's a strike and it's O and one meanwhile activity in the bullpen Jordan WAMS preparing to come on if needed the one and that one hit 97 on the [Applause] gun one and two here into Center and a base hit and the lead off man aboard I don't think that pitch would have been called to strike but he did such a nice job of pulling his hands tight to the body and just getting enough of the barrel on it to be hard enough back up the middle for a knock now at the plate AO Lopez slider for a strike if you're going to get something going this is off two on one out and that one's a little bit low and that's ball one the short stop takes the ball it's a big opportunity right here but I love the way he's slowing the game down he's shrinking his Zone making sure he gets the pitch that he wants to hit kicks and deals that one finds the zone that is strike two just a really nice slider down and in there he wants to get the hitter Thinking Fast Ball speed him up and just subtract some velocity and had a little move it two two gets a piece there we'll do it again Sanchez the lead runner at second Lopez at first one gone struck him out [Applause] looking n fortez the next up for the Marlins oh for three with two ground outs and a strikeout [Applause] and that one hammered that's back and that one is out of here he sends one out the opposite way it's 53 they needed that one singy indeed they did they've been fighting to get back into this game and just like that they're back in it [Applause] it's like he's playing whiffle ball up there and that's typically not the easiest way to hit a home run to the slight opposite field into the Gap man making it look easy that's for sure [Applause] [Applause] back to the top of the Miami [Applause] off finnean is just one strike away got and that'll do it when you wi five in a row the confidence just go to another level and you start to gain this momentum and you think that you're never going to lose a game again because things are clicking up and down the lineup pitchers are pitching the team is making the plays defensively this is the kind of feeling it's not going to last
