almost ready to get underway and towing the slab Pablo Lopez but Chris he hasn't exactly been Stellar here on his home M well I'll say this every player wants to perform well at their home ballpark in front of their fans in front of the city and you know this guy no different he wants to be more effective here so you know you look at the numbers they haven't been great at home I'm sure he wants to turn that around and we'll see if he's able to start that in this one and Pablo Lopez will deliver up and in three and two now that one misses so a lead off walk Whit marfield up to the plate move to First and they got him well you're really hoping to extend the pitcher this first inning and see some pitches get that pitch count off after leadoff man gets on and immediately picked off first base really just kind of lets the pitcher off the [Applause] hook hard hit right side and he takes it himself for the out okay let's check out the lineup not a whole lot going their way offensively the last few games Chris yeah boan that can put more pressure on the pitching staff to try to limit the opponent to just one or two runs a game knowing that their offense is not scoring right now and that never really works well because you try to be too fine and you end up giving up a lot of runs so we'll see if everybody can just relax bring things together and perform at a level that they're capable of here's Mar Ozuna one ball two [Applause] stength two out Bas is empty next offering upstairs way to lay off that fast ball up right there you're looking for something you see well that you can handle but you also have to keep the discipline so that you're not popping up pitches that are just a little too high two outs Lopez gets the swing of the Miss and a nice inning of work there as he sets him down one two three no score as we head to the bottom of the first back in Minnesota our starting pitcher in this one Charlie Morton how a scout report on him well he's been a very dependable starter for his club and what stands out for me is that left-handed hitters have really struggle batting below 200 against him and it just tells me they have a hard time tracking the baseball maybe it's the release point maybe it's the motion but just some way somehow they've got to figure out a way to pick it up and try to have some success from the left side and he lays down a bun and foul ball swing and a miss struck him out couldn't catch up to the heater here's Trevor lck the pitch to the right side marafield tosses to First here tonight an efficient start to the home first two away now the line up for the twins as constructed by Rocko baldelli one guy leading the way offensively for this club right now Jose Miranda Tops on the team in batting average boo a guy who's showing off some excellent batto ball ability when he digs in at the plate you know that's useful if your team needs to get an inning going get a leadoff man on but it's also incredible to have a guy like that in the lineup because he's a run producer who can drive in runs if you got guys on base already so he's a Hu ah well he settles under it in left and that will end the inning scoreless after one all set for the start of the inning here's the veteran first baseman Matt Olen you almost have to feel bad for Matt Olsen after what happened in 2023 he played every game hit 54 home runs drove in 139 led the league in slugging and he still wasn't even named a finalist for the National League MVP award the line of the pitch late on that fast B in all seriousness I don't think anyone is feeling bad for Matt olon 2023 was a phenomenal season for him whether he was an MVP finalist or nots and misses it's a strike out way out in front of that inside pitch there and just exactly the opposite kind of approach that you want with two strikes you want to let the ball travel make sure you recognize it try to shorten up so that you can at least put pull down the line this one hammered but it's foul that was ready for that fast B right there it really turned on it hit it hard had the distance but just too much hook to it so might want to make a little bit of an adjustment let it travel a little more and see if you can keep that thing Fair pitches in the dirt and the Count's even a two on the ground right side now he launches a throw over his head and this ball is going to wind up out of play oh they just tried to force a play that wasn't there ends up a single and a throwing error so now they have to deal with a runner and scoring position you know good communication on the field can make a big Braves leading by two bottom half of inning number [Applause] two Kepler swings and drives one deep to right that one's carrying out of here Max Kepler knocks one out his ninth Homer of the year and this game is tied it's 22 he absolutely feasts on right-handed pitching and devours that one for a homer and you can see that's what he expects of himself at bat after a bat he's that [Applause] confident change up up in the zone is a hitter's Dream It's a BP fastball but you're playing in real time time most times the pitcher asking for a new baseball just like right there so it's all tied known for being generous with the corners Chris you know I think that used to be a lot bigger deal in past eras where pitchers were working more in and out with their pitches but yeah we'll see if high school right yeah even in the minor leagues you'll learn quickly uh you call the Umpire blue you better learn his name and uh that's just part of being a professional player and even a major plus Runner but what I love about him is that he goes all out out every single time never takes a break guys like that even though they don't have the Elite Speed the fact that they're consistent with it they make moves on the base passs one ball two [Applause] stra righty delivers and a swing and a miss that ends the inning and they limit the damage but the twins bring in two on the Homer 2 two game you're dialed into the show top half of the third inning and now Orlando Aria Orlando Aria 1-1 now sang and a highfly ball left field Walmer under this one pulls it down and he makes the catch and there's one [Applause] away and next for Atlanta Michael Harris Harris singy you got to appreciate a guy who's this good defensively I mean watching him track balls in the Outfield it is beautiful Line Drive caught yikes that oneall was Scorch an absolute missile and it almost becomes self-defense as the Fielder when one of those things comes screaming towards you watch your lips [Applause] Whit marfield digs in now two outs swing and a miss and he was fooled well Chris through the early stages he hasn't been very efficient in terms of the pitch count he's going to need to get some quick outs if he's going to get deeper into this game and the righty deals battling here as he fouls it away it is interesting though when you consider the way the game has run now doesn't even matter that much Lopez gets the swing in the Miss and good work there as he gets a one two three and the Braves go down quietly score remains 22 and we're back set for the bottom of the third this is Willie pretty tough for the infielders to do anything with that one he pulled it hard into the Outfield and even when you keep it on the ground it feels great when you hit a missile like that go ahead run on base and here's the first baseman Matt Olen one and two now upstairs runner at first with no outs here swing and a miss struck him out out and now one away and now it's Travis darno with the plate definitely wants to stay out of the double play here ball on the ground in the infield should be an inning ending double play on the ground could be extra bases Ozuna round second on his way to third lead Runner holds it third so two runners in scored position and just one out wasting no time he's two for two now on the night and just a triple and home run away from the cycle seriously we're starting with this [Applause] already so one out with two aboard and now the right fielder Ramone laurano that one finds the zone and that's strike two he's pitching well but not throwing a ton of first pitch strikes usually doesn't work out for success but he can never predict baseball the onew Dives but it's off his glove one runs in Jared k there next up for the Braves Lopez checks the runner and he's back in there next pitch is outside tough spot right here a couple Runners on two ball count you can't nibble but you have to execute and finish your pitch if you leave something out over the plate it's going to bring in some runs that's Off the Mark Ball three traffic on the bases with one already in top half of inning number four Lopez gets the swing and the Miss that's the second out had him out in front which isn't easy to do against a hitter like this known for using the entire field just couldn't sit back long enough on that one here's gor shella and a pitch swing and a miss nice change [Applause] up Corners are occupied with two down and a swing in a miss good job with damage control right there he's in a tough spot had to make a great pitch did it got the strike out gets out of the jam clearly he's happy with those results back in Minnesota bottom four here's the left fielder Matt [Applause] Walmer falling behind two and one well these twins showing great discipline at the plate and patience definitely seems to be the name of their game in this one they're doing a good job of working the pitch count and they've been able to push a couple of runs across the score as well and that's ball four that's Ball Four that could be a tone Setter for the inning four straight pitches and the leadoff batters on base we'll see if the next Guy waits until there's a called strike before he takes the bat off his shoulder Max Kepler at the [Applause] plate at the belt and fires still relatively early but with the pair of runs already on the board the ripple effect of that high pitch count might set him up to do more damage later in this game the count two and one and that one hit to first sneaks through base hit throw back in quickly first and second now with nobody out showed some really nice patience and that it bad worked himself into a good count he kind of rolled over on this pitch a little bit but he got enough behind it to shoot it through for a knock and you'll take that anytime you can get him to find a hole and now the first baseman Jose Miranda here's a one to one late swing fouled off next offering [Applause] upstairs got Sans also getting [Applause] ready fast ball for a strike got it f for the it's almost like he's telling the guys in the bullpen stand down I got this so the lineup flips over here's the center fielder Michael Harris and that'll fall for a base hit so they get a man aboard with a one out single the batter number 15 second Bas now at the plate Whit marfield [Applause] KCK off move the first Harris Dives back in safely man it first one [Music] away here goes the runner pitching for a strike save at second and that was not close well he picked over once just before the pitch to check on him but that didn't seem to slow up his jump on the pitch at all I think that guy's been studying some video awesome job to be prepared got the timing down and he gets in the scoring position [Applause] he's mixing his pitches really well laid on that fast ball after seeing the change up see if he can Elevate one I think if he does he'll get the swing and Miss bounce to the left side that is that one left for Atlanta but they're up three to2 and we're back we head to the bottom of the fifth digging in it's the Speedy outfielder Austin Martin you know this guy's great speed is in the back of that pitcher's mind if he can get on it's going to give him one more thing he's got to think about action in the pen down there Ronaldo Lopez the veteran right-hander appears to be loosening up Chavez also throwing line drive base hit just kind of slice that one into Center well that may end up being an ADV bat we go back to on when this game is over you'll often hear the phrase short to it long through it and that's a great example of it right there got the Barrel in The Hitting Zone early squared it up with the well time swing and came away with a beautiful Line Drive in the center field and now they've got some speed on first so we'll see if they try to get him into motion now here is Willie Castro the twins down by a run last half of inning number five the short stop takes the ball with two strikes may see some movement over there at first base trying to stay out of the double play right here that one way inside so here we go base runner at first could be running on the pitch he's got good enough speed to steal the bag to get in scoring position even if it's a swing and Miss at the plate foul ball and it remains a full count [Applause] [Applause] is one and two two on two outs to Third and it goes just foul and now it's even up two walks in the inning already and he just doesn't seem comfortable out there like he can find the right mechanics and then repeat them next pitch is outside 32 two out runner on first lot of moving in the infield hitters got to stay focused on the pitch Max Kepler would be next if they can extend the inning and he's homered already so I'm sure he'd love a chance to do some more damage here swings threw it and that's a strike out so they strand a pair five innings complete it's the Braves three and the twins two we're back and they make a change to start the six the new pitcher Bailey over pretty tight game so they're looking for Quality pitches out of him right here got to do his best to keep the score right where it is is well one run game and here's the first baseman Matt [Applause] Olen swing in a Miss as he was out front one ball two St and another ball [Applause] knocks that one away and we'll do it again a why to kick the pitch and that's in the dirt good plate appearance there able to take the walk it was N Easy but he earned that walk after a long atat well that's a nice job of grinding out that at bat saw a lot of pitches and ends up drawing the walk very gritty Olen on at first nobody out in the air right field Kepler makes the catch and there's one down lauriano comes up to 3-1 and he couldn't come up with it pretty easy walk right there last pitch wasn't even much to think about [Applause] [Applause] left on the ground to First could be two steps off first for the out Bo that's a good at bat simply because they found a way to move both Runners up a base now they're in a really good spot with two runners in scoring position giorella to the plate and this is a big opportunity for him to pick up his teammate right here the pitch foul ball still a one and two count two outs two in scored position and we're the top half of the six and it's even up bals that off to the left and will do it again and another ball definitely got the hitter conscious of the pitch inside really think the outer half is open Orlando Aria to bat next kicks and fires fouled off again and up it's the Braves three and the twins two back now for the bottom of the six and there's a new pitcher on the M Ronaldo Lopez still a lot of game left and this game could go either way so this is a big opportunity for him to get some important outs and try to help carry this lead into the later innings now it's the right fielder Max Kepler [Applause] [Applause] right just missed well he' been able to slow down the game tonight with his advat and the biggest one he's had so far he doesn't look anxious at all that one is absolutely belted carrying well and it's caught just in front of the lot of times in today's game right fielders are able to get to a ball that stays in like that but he hit that one pretty well and if he hits it just a little bit different on the barrel it's out of here easily but there's nothing wrong with the extra bases right there now a pretty big at back coming up with a chance to even this ball game up and in scor position with two away Christian Vasquez The Hitter oh and he hit him well he's just glad he got hit with an off speed pitch there instead of a fast ball man that would have hurt a lot more if it had velocity Austin Martin the next twin up to [Applause] hit two on two outs and that is cut on and missed and the count one and two well a come and get me fast ball right there he didn't look ready for the velocity I think it'd be a mistake to throw him anything off speed right here the onew got him that's the inning no runs a hit two left seventh inning coming up it's the Braves three and the twins two and welcome back to the ballpark here's the short stop at the play Orlando Aria and the pitch got him swinging and one gone I mean there aren't many curve balls in the sport today that break like that thing does huge movement it's so difficult to get on the same plane and even think about squaring it up let alone get a piece and hope he throws something else to keep the at bat alive Michael Harris now at the plate one down base is empty pitch misses inside two and [Applause] one swing and that ball smashed on the line kler makes the grab and and there're two down not fooled at all right there he was clearly all over it but sometimes you hit it too hard and right at someone you're looking for one of those bloop hits to get a knock sometimes swinging a foul over the screen and back out of play man this has been a real important inning in relief I mean so far they've been doing a great job holding that deficit at one started after the onew pitch appeal to first he did not go around two outs cut on and Miss struck thinking to do when he leaves the ballpark after this one that was his third strike out and this one looking obviously so he's been a little overmatched he's got to find a way just to be more competitive up there to play and next is the designated hitter Trevor L next offering upstairs [Applause] holding on to a one-run lead here at the bottom of the seven that misses the zone and Maly balls and a strike Roy Lewis waiting for a turn at the plate leftand batter weights hard ground ball base now and that puts the tying run on base well they call that an advantage count for a reason you're so much more likely to get something you can handle just kept it simple played Pepper with the middle of the infield and took it back where it came from and there's just no one there to knock out snuck the fast ball by him that cutter right there had just enough movement on it to get the swing and Miss wasn't a great location by any means that's typically a spot that hitters can handle so I'd say he fooled him with just enough of that late action new pitcher for the Braves Luke Jackson these are the spots relievers really make a name for themselves late and close there's not much margin for error but at the same time there's a reason they're put in these situations and next will be the cleanup hitter Matt [Applause] Walmer kicks andos ground ball right side throw on to Olen and that is the inning one left for Minnesota they're down 3 to2 welcome back in a new arm of the mound to start the eight Cole Sands and he's done a great job keeping the ball in the park this year the numers stack up with some of the best in the [Applause] game well one run game and now the DH Marcelo Zuna singy you can't ask for anything more this guy checks all the boxes offensively he is the ultimate professional and it doesn't just start at game time it starts in the afternoon the way he prepares and gets ready for the ball game I tell you what his teammates feed off of the leadership that he shows on and off the field the two- two gets a piece and stays alive flew open a little bit with that front shoulder but was able to slow his back down just enough to make contact with that pitch keep the abat alive and another ball got him swinging for the strike out had him way out front of the slur and now Matt Olsen up to hit just missed Sans he's got some good end some bad the positive is he doesn't walk very many guys but Chris the problem is that he is prone to giving up some hom the pitch that one misses three and one now some movement in the twins Bullpen PGE alala pitcher game now a manager can see it pretty early just by the swings that players are taking whether they're fouling the ball back if they're on time the front foot is down when you see that probably soft line ler over to Castro for one and that's two no runs one hit no errors and no one left last half of the eighth coming up it's the Braves three and the twins two back in Minnesota ready for the bottom of the eth and now the right fielder Max [Applause] Kepler ball to strike swing and a miss and he was fooled movement in the bullpen ryel elus getting ready to come in for manager Brian Snicker and he in there got him looking for the K froze him with a back door slider pretty big strike out right there to start this eighth inning down one any lead off base runner really makes this inning a bit more interesting but now this offense has to switch from possibly trying to manufacture a run to needing to run into something or just try to string multiple hits together to get a run across the plate and it is two and one and the right-hander deals and that one fouled off looked like you got a little excited on that fast ball got to think to yourself want to stay up the middle that way if you're a little bit early you hit it out of the ballpark you're a little late opposite field knock one down base is empty and a base hit up the middle a perfect example right there that plate discipline it pays off the deeper he gets into a cow the more comfortable he becomes and he usually wins the battle substitution being made at first entering is the pinch Runner Manuel Margo one down keep this one close here and this is where a bullpen can give their players a chance to fight back into the game now into the ball game on defense Carlos Santana he takes over as the new first baseman I'm sure he wants back at the plate two strikes sort of pitch you're hoping for a bit of a mistake and I'd say in a very hitable location but clearly the break was enough to get him to swing through
