EA College Football Simulations Game 43 Appalachian State @Clemson (9/7/24 Prediction)

welcome to what many call the original Death Valley Clemson South Carolina where the crowd is rocking in anticipation of The Showdown we have in store there's just something about the night cap after a day of wall toall football and just seems this is when chaos ensues as we'll see a squad from the Sunbelt the appal State Mountaineers taking on the 17th ranked team in the land the Clemson Tigers glad to have you with us for EA Sports college football I'm Rees Davis David Po and Jesse Palmer with me in the booth guys we are ready to Tee It [Music] Up Clemson will boot it away to get this one started he'll bring it back from inside his spot just never had a chance to shake loose and he'll be brought down at the 24 so the Abate Mountaineers offense takes the field for the first time today and there he is when you build a tight end you'd build one just like this especially with those reliable Ms Jesse yeah Reese he makes big plays in big games watch for him on third down in the Red Zone he has a chance to leave an impact in this game oh it's so nice to have such a big body then when he's covered he's open right like it doesn't matter cuz he's got great hands and and that big frame he can really utilize this crowd bringing the energy and noise early gives it to the back on the draw they bring him down and he's going to lose a yard on that one they try to go draw just way too much penetration in the middle of the offensive line that the offense has a negative point and the crowd starting to rise up on this early third and 10 scanning the field it's agular fires to the right complete downfield he will step out of bounds but not before the big pickup and a first down for this offense there's a reason third down is called the money down what a great find by the quarterback great job finding his receiver uh at the end of the game you look at third down percentage is it tells a huge story and it goes a long way in deciding who wins a football game running back searching for a hole One Step WRA Two Step squeeze this junior knows how to get him on the ground and the running back didn't get much there nice job by the defense you can tell they're focused in on this running back on this run game being physical getting knockbacks and limiting his carries picked up two yards on that last one they need eight on second down he's looking to throw and the pass is incomplete Jarred Loose by the hit they'll come to the line at the 42 facing a third and long trying to make that Rush think on the draw play here really good run there on third down he got five but they're still left with a fourth and three and the Mountaineers will send out the punt unit a fairly short distance here toward the sidelines not his best work so Clemson's offense has the ball for the first time here are our impact players for this game and it goes beyond executing an assignment to make an impact in the game yeah obviously we were talking to both coaching staffs this week and we asked them who needs to step up and play while they immediately pointed to these guys right here they are the key for their respective teams yeah and they don't always show up in the Box Score but these are the guys are the leaders these are the guys get everybody organized and have to play well for their team to succeed this offense will snap it from the 42 on First and 10 they're getting this guy lathered up not a whole lot of room there three yards maybe second and seven and it's just simple simple first down run showing your physicality setting your offense up in a good spot got three on first down it's second and seven looking downfield it's cnick working the middle of the field and it's complete really confident throw and catch there big pickup and they have a first down these wide receivers are so athletic out wide now you're so worried about getting beat deep and these slant routes they can be a good change up I mean just couple steps stick your foot in the ground come inside it might not be huge gains all the time but man it keeps that deep be off bals takes a hand off it's mafa Wows through the defense they stop him just short of the first down but it will be second and inches coming up man when I can run the football like that on first down and create second and inches and and stay way ahead of the sticks and and be in a position now where I can throw the football or run I will have a lot of success on the offensive side of the football they'll leave it with him and he's knocked down but not before moving the chains this tiger running game starting to show some juice sort of a CJ Spiller type of feel yeah and it doesn't always hit you early it doesn't always hit you on the first possession but I do think they've done a good job over the years Clemson was sticking with the Run game creating that balance trying to get those first downs and trying to create some Tempo against your defense they'll give him one to the 28 yd line Run game is good balance is good now listen if the Run game isn't good then you got to pass the football a little bit more but sometimes you got to keep them honest take them chunk by chunk didn't get much on first down it's second and nine they'll run it behind the big guys on the left they bring him down and he's going to lose a yard on that one listen I know there are a lot of DBS out there that all they want to do is get interceptions and Dan In The End Zone this dude likes to put his face in the fan get close to the line of scrimmage and tackle and on the opening drive that he's out there he gets a huge tackle for loss early that is a statement play Third and long and he'll try to throw for it quarterback floating away from pressure picks up the first down and gets down to avoid contact nice job nice way to end that play for the QB he does a really good job scrambling getting the first down and getting down because defensively I'm trying to get a lick anytime I can hit the quarterback that is a win Here Comes Clemson with another first down they're in the red zone and they'll pass it nice defensive play to get a hand in there and knock it away and those Corner routes those quarterbacks need to throw the ball with some air and put it towards the sideline away from the defender you could tell a little bit maybe underthrown the defender doing a good job sticking with the play getting his hand on the football and getting the deflection they'll go back to the air on second down he got a hand in there knocked it away incomplete yeah that was a good play on the ball getting his hand up and getting the tip getting the deflection ball bounces up in the air falls to the ground incomplete pass they were really starting to put a drive together but after a couple of incompletions now they need a big play on Third and 10 motion by the back forces the defense to adjust looking for the score touchdown Clemson they grab the early lead that was an absolute Sledgehammer of a drive just taking the air out of the ball and it's hard when you run that many plays not to make a mistake and throw an interception or get penalties and put you in a bad spot but the offense to strung play after play after play together and got the [Music] inzone the 18 unit on the field and with the extra point they got the first seven of the game a 70 yd touchdown drive and the score comes on a 17 yard Pro for the touchdown they're just about ready to kick it away on the run from inside his own five didn't find any crease in that kickoff coverage and he'll be stopped at the 17 appalachin State regains possession and the Mountaineer offense headed to the field he kept those legs moving got three out to the 19 all right well the offense here they're trying to get this run game established they obviously don't break off a long run there but they're just trying to find their footing at this point after the three- yd pickup they come to the line Second and seven dropping back it's agular gets it out fast how about this backer in pass coverage and bringing the big hit stick with him too a nice job by the defense there tackling the catch and smothering the tight end they know this offense is going to try to find him in the passing game in a lot of different situations that time perfect coverage and nice job bringing the big guy down not easy to do musling ahead on Third and short they'll move those chains getting get out to the 29 yd line and trying to get this drive rolling well there we go we finally see some life in this offense running the football nice game to pick up the first down got to get more of that going moving forward cuz they have not run it now on First and 10 from the 29 might as well run him until they stop him he's got it again couldn't find a lane a pick up of one to the 31 and you want to run the football that's okay you'll take some of these but if they start to add up down the road obviously you might want to think about airing it out a little bit didn't get much on first down it's second and nine they go to the counter he's dropped behind the line of scrimmage that'll be a loss of three defense did a really good job straightening that one out you got to see the counter when you start to pull guys understanding I'm going to spill that ball make sure it bounces outside out wide doesn't come downhill great job by the defense understanding that been pursuing to the on Third and long trying to have a big completion here and that one's too high out of bounds incomplete and how loud is it in this building this is crazy this these fans are going absolutely nuts and I used to love when the fans got involved and I'm on defense because it messes with the snap count it messes with the communication and it can really rattle in offense the Mountaineers send out the punt unit this will be the second time they've had to kick it away he only needs a SLI of daylight working his way on the return up to the 40 yd line before he stopped Clemson has their paws on it and they'll send out the offense fires to the big fella and he'll make his way out of bounds after the solid pick up I like this tight end he does a really nice job on his route run he's been beating man coverage he can find the soft spots in zones you got to get him involved after that last completion it's second down looking to throw it's cnick and the pass is incomplete thanks to a big hit and you see those balls in practice sometimes they're just off the mark and you don't you don't know how to control and you don't know what goes wrong with sometimes QBs Miss and it's an incompletion let's see what they find in the playbook for third and long from the 43 from the gun what to pass he lets one fly deep got an in stride at the 15 touchdown tigers and once he got away from the knee they had no shot at catching him well I'm not sure who was closer to the receiver there the defensive backs or us here in the booth that was great execution on offense receiver wins the route one-on-one shows off his speed gets himself wide open there was no question where the quarterback was going for that way nice job on to attempt the try and the extra point makes it 14 nothing quick strike offense on that three playay scoring drive and they finish it in style with a 57 yd toss for six lining up to cover the kick after that touchdown Drive the returner will field it and bring it back he's brought down at the 16 would have been much better off to take the touch back the appalachin state offense returns to the field to say this has been a slow start is a bit of an understatement and they really need to get it going here Jesse that's right the opponent they're firing on all cylinders right out of the gate offensively for this unit they've been slow and St struggling they need an explosive play to wake themselves up yeah and it's just the first quarter so it's not the end of the world you've seen slow starts but you got to continue to pick and pick and pick until you find that play or or that scheme that you can use against this defense the give to the back I'll tell you this is a running back who's very very dangerous and the defense did a good job getting him down there but they got to do a great job gain tackling because this is a guy that can break tackles and turn those types of plays into home runs de Rising as the crowd Gets behind this defense on third down they're trying to slow that Rush down with the draw and he was fortunate not to lose yardage on that play able to wedge it back to the line of scrimmage it's hard to run on a defense that comes off the ball like that and runs to the football l good luck no holes anywhere and the Mountaineers decide to pun it away looking for Running Room he'll get it to the 43 yd line before he stopped Clemson ready to dial up some ball plays they've got it on offense Jesse looking to take it down the field for backto back touchdowns I think it's really important for them moving forward too to have a lot of balance right you want to be able to keep this defense guessing P yeah you got me searching for answers after that last drive you stack another drive on top of this their defense's heads are going to be spinning all over the place got three on first down it's second and seven to the air it's kutnick he's open on the right oh look out there he goes touchdown cson What A Catch and run for six and this offense is clicking another touchdown didn't have to go far for this drive but this offense is doing what they want how they want when they want [Music] lining up to tack one more onto that lead the kick is up and good and put one more on the lead aggressive play calling on that drive just two plays they get the long touchdown pass to pay it off they're lining up to boot it away he'll start the return inside as spot not a lot of space to be found good Hustle by the coverage team and they stop him at the 21 appalachin State regains possession and the Mountaineer offense headed to the field they'll try the run that one can really put this drive into high gear as they have a first down at the 37 this is an offense that really sees their identity as being able to run the football nice job there picking up the first down the Mountaineers are in the hurry up right back to the well and he's a real Nowhere Man tackled in this no gain land and just a great job by the defense being Stout right that's your job be Stout up front stuff in the Run play make them get in more passing situations but do not let them run the football that's 101 stop the run first they got nothing on the last play it's second and 10 going to run it it's Roberts he had all kinds of company as soon as he got it he had to fight his way back just to get to the line of scrimmage great job by the defense everybody firing off the ball hitting their guys holding their gaps running to the football nowhere to go they line up with some serious work to do if they want to convert this one they go to the draw Powers through the defender picks up just a few before he's brought down not really willing to take a risk there on Third and long and the Mountaineers line up to punt it away [Music] signals for the fair Catch and that's where they'll put it in play just outside the 20 Clemson has their paws on it and they'll send out the offense coming out on first down with the play fake a strike downfield and the big gain and they've got it on the 46 this guy has the look of the next big play receiver at Clemson in the vein of T Higgins or Mike Williams or DeAndre Hopkins or Samy Watkins I mean the list is pretty lengthy of guys that are are big explosive fast and they can really win on the outside and Clemson as much as anybody they're going to catch the ball spit it to those guys let them go make plays gets it out quickly and he goes out of bounds after a nice pick up on that one and it's hard to run a route or get lost near the sidelines and understand exactly where you're at nice job understanding I'm starting to get get close to the sidelines throttling down a little bit catching the football and making sure I was in bounds they'll ride the running back and leave it with him and the tigers are stopped but not before getting the first down there's a really nice play there the thing I like about this guy too his versatility he's not just good running the ball but he can catch and he can block and you think about all the greats they've had at the position in recent years versatility at the running back position being an every down back and that's exactly what this guy embodies and the pass hit picked off and he will step out of bounds but what a play to get the ball back for his offense well I love the job by the coaching staff there defensively matching the Personnel of the offense putting their dime package out on the field so you bring out the extra defensive back you're anticipating a pass perfect timing to run that personnel and you get the pick the Appalachian State offense returns to the field their Drive chart is starting to look a little monotonous punt punt punt David and their defense is starting to get a little frustrated too they just keep putting me back on the field possession after possession Jesse this offense needs to get their heads out of there you know what the punter's on the sideline with the oxygen mask right now he's been playing so much he's not used to this this offense they just got to stay on the field they've got to put a drive together and get some balance going running and throwing the ball the give to the tailb nowhere to run on that one he loses four on the carry it's amazing how play by a defensive end in the back field can really swing the momentum not only of a series but of a game sometimes all you're trying to do is create negative plays to get him the sticks a little bit to get those sacks to get those tackles for a losses you see so much stunting in college football up front with the defensive line because you know once you get one of those plays you got the offense right where you on a big third down love the discipline by the defense there you got everybody with their eyes on the quarterback rallying to the football showing good speed on D nice tackle love the team defense the Mountaineers will bring the punt team onto the field they've been busy out there a punt for the fifth time today yet another punt on the way got to make sure that hamstring stays loose he's been busy and they'll get him down after the return at the 27 yd line first play of this drive comes from the 27 on the ground it's mafa they bring him down and he's going to lose a yard on that one so he get stuffed on first down and now you have the offensive coordinator thinking a little bit yeah we're probably going to have to throw it now in this second play but what are we going to see defensively now that they know we're throwing might they Blitz us do I have to leave more guys in Block there's a real cat and mouse game going on right now between these two coaching STS how about these two running games so far dominance on the ground as we look at the first quarter steps just about ready to get things started here in the second we'll see if they continue to flex that muscle to the air it's cnick got his man on the right and they bring him down quickly but a good game there he saw man coverage and the idea just get it to my receiver as quickly as I can and let him work David see man and and see the cushion and see the guy backed up a little bit now I know I can get it to him right now and get a positive game it'll take some work to get to the sticks it's third and long from the 30 got it behind the line it's mafa and he couldn't quite get to the marker and that's going to bring up a fourth down man down on the play as the officials take a break to let him be checked out so Clemson is lining up to putt this one [Music] away they'll get down and put a stop to the return at about the 28 yd line appalachin State regains possession and the Mountaineer offense headed to the field wants to throw on first down snagged in the middle it's Robinson and he's brought down after a nice game nice job by the quarterback pre- snap and post Snap he knew the defense was going to be playing Zone coverage and there was no doubt in his mind where he was going with that football and the Mountaineers want to crank the tempo one man in the back field and he gets it still on his feet at the 45 he's right out of bounds but a big play on that one and it'll be a first down how about the left side of the line getting off the ball creating some holes for that running back to get through make a big play on the hand off to the left when something works that well you might as well go right back to it I mean they showed no indication that they could stop it I like to go back to it and hurry up get to the line of scrimmage quick run it again they'll ride the hot hand he's dropped behind the line of scrimmage that'll be a loss of three well the most insightful analysis I can come up with on that one is that didn't work back to the drawing board to see if there's something that works a little better soon or if I can quote the great Reese Davis that was very UNG good not a productive first down play looking to throw it's agular got the back over the middle and a good job of coverage by that defense just a short pick up I want to get my running backs the b in space as much as possible and sometimes it doesn't work in the running game but I can throw it to him I can try to create some space out wide dump him the football let him make some catches and see if I can't get some big plays out on third down he'll try to to pick it up through the air and that pass picked off takes it the other way the interception stopped the threat and the return even better as he crosses Midfield and gets it to the 49 what a big game changing play I love when you see defensive players they jump on the ball like they were the offensive guys so aggressive going and getting that pick creating some big Mojo for your team Clemson ready to dial up some ball plays they've got it on offense they had to punt it away on their last possession but man what great field position this time I mean this is awesome like last possession didn't go great now you're set up in an opportunity to get some points start thinking about what plays I like Jesse as I cross the p50 there are a lot of offensive coordinators out there David and in this position they like to take a shot right away and try and capitalize on this field position now on first down down from the 30 they're going to ride this running back wrestled down at the 26 it's a gain of four and runs like that are like body blows in a boxing match four five six yard gains early turn into 20 30 40 yard gains later they really wear down defenses and they test their physicality solid pick up of four on first down it's second and six the run to the right nowhere to run on that one he loses four on the carry that linebacker saw the express lane right to the ball carrier and a great job by the defensive line getting some push making them use their resources on him linebacker comes free be him to make in the back field for a tackle for a loss coming to the line of scrimmage at the 30 it would be a long field goal but they'd love to pick up a few here on Third and long trying to buy a little time and he cannot but he does get it back closer to the line of scrimmage that is exactly what this defense needed they have not had a great first half given up a bunch of touchdowns but this might get them started this might get the energy going and maybe rattle a quarterback a little bit with that sack now on fourth down they'll settle for a field goal try he's going to have to get into this one a little bit from 47 yds away oh and he missed it no good missed the field goal but still up by three touchdowns and 21 points the Appalachian St offense returns to the field they've gotten nothing done so far and they already find themselves in a three-possession hole Jesse yeah and as a head coach you're wondering what didn't I say what didn't I do to get my team ready to go because we look like we're sleepwalking at this point David yeah nothing went well in the first quarter you just say refresh like let's try to find a way now chip into this lead try to make it somewhat manageable when you get to the half and the incompletion brings up a second down for this offense still running at the 40 to the 43 yd line and a first down for this offense well I know this is an offensive line that has a ton of Pride and they want to come out each and every game and really impose their will on the dline they got just enough push there on that run play to pick up the first and now on first down after converting with the run to the ground he's got it again does couldn't get away from the tackle stopping the run is very high on every defensive coordinator's list making the team onedimensional nice job stuffing the run on that play right there got stuffed on first down it's second and 10 looking for a man it's agular it's complete and the defense makes the immediate tackle but he has enough for the first down great job by the offense listen if the defense is going to sit back in zone you know what you got to do run those crossers across the formation those guys that they're looking at the quarterback they're not trying to pick up receivers all the time make those precise throws right in those holes get those first downs get those big chunks he wants to throw he's got his man just leaves him grabbing air as he gets down to the 35 slant routes they're good against man coverage but they're good against Zone coverage too if that receiver can find the soft spot between the linebacker and the DB you'll take that throw all day and now on second down for this offense they'll go to the ground and maybe they want to try somewhere else because there is nothing doing in the middle of this defense awesome job up front by this defensive line being so good at the point of attack and eating blocks eating some double teams that allows these linebackers to run free unencumbered and get to the football here on third down they'll try to bully their way for the first that just never had a chance as they controlled the middle of the field and stopped him in the back field on third down now on fourth down they'll try to come away with three this is going to have to be Unleashed from 54 yds out and he missed it no good after the Miss field goal still down by 21 points guys [Music] Clemson has their paws on it and they'll send out the offense you want to talk about taking the wind out of your sails Drive the ball down the field and miss the field goal David you know what don't leave it up to Kickers execute better offensively I think you move the ball nice you got to keep that in mind but Palmer I think you got to stay aggressive and don't settle for field goals yeah because you got to know there's just no margin for error right now you just have got to be able to execute at a higher level this offense has a second down play looking to throw it's cnick fires to the tight end he's out of bounds but not before picking up enough for the first down it's not a great feeling on defense too when you're blitzing you're expecting to get a sack you're expecting to get a hit on the quarterback if the offensive line and running backs pick it up uh-oh because now you have one less guy in the back end trying to cover all these receivers and tight ends and you know you're in trouble going up top on first down and it's incomplete if you're going to take a hit like that you might as well hang on to the ball couldn't get anything done on first down now second and 10 from the 46 looking to throw it again oh the quarterback can make a big play when he starts moving round short gain on the play before he slides well great job there by the defense because they weren't able to get him sacked right away but you saw the coverage in the back end nowhere for the quarterback to throw the football didn't get the sack obviously you don't get the negative play but you also don't give up a big one you're feeling pretty good about where you are right now on this drive now facing a third and long from the gun wants to pass and this is going to be incomplete on third offenses know and work on it all all week third Downs third downs we got to be really really good this offense not good on this third down it could come back to bite him Clemson will send the punt team out this will be the second time they've had to kick it away the ball hits at the five and it'll go into the end zone for a Touchback at bachin State regains possession and the Mountaineer offense headed to the field they just haven't been able to get anything going and they better get started or it's going to get away from them David yeah these are the weeks that you really wish that you were playing a video game and you could just reset the console start over Jesse and make something better happen early they just look like they're sleepwalking in this first half and it's not just one guy they they just haven't been playing collectively as a unit and if I'm the head coach I'm considering starting to give some other dudes some chances here Nowhere to Run on that one he loses four on the carry and as a defensive player you see so much option nowadays and so many different variants of it and you got to play very disciplined sound football you can tell he knew he was responsible for the quarterback he goes and gets him sits him on the ground creates a tackle for a on Third and long he's going to have to throw for it a beautifully placed ball to the outside in the tow drag for the big pickup and listen the def defense knew coming into this one they were going to Target him early and often he is a weapon and there's no mystery where the quarterback's going to be looking on critical down and distances let's see how they are able to cover him throughout the rest of this game the Mountaineers come to the line with a fresh set of downs this time they'll go to the running game nice solid form tackle from this sophomore I like feeding my guy I like getting my running back touches feeding the ball so he can break some of those big runs but I'm also okay with these little ones set the tone stay balanced didn't get much on first down it's second and nine dropping back it agular and this sophomore able to wreak some havoc and get the sack and that Clemson defensive front getting their paws on du to making their presence felt and Reese that's how they built their Dynasty I I mean I know the offense was was Flash and Sizzle and was really good but man it's the Dexter Lawrence and the Christian Wilkins in the defensive front those big boys that can get after the quarterback that played Relentless those guys really set the tone and set the foundation for Clemson and Big Time success on Third and long you'll need to push it downfield he took a hit as he threw it and couldn't deliver the football it's incomplete and fourth Down's coming yeah and you don't see very many quarterback hits on Springs you know the offense wants to Bluff real quick and make it look like pass and then the quarterback's supposed to pop up look like pass and quickly get rid of you could tell timing all wrong it was all jacked up and that play went absolutely nowhere hey you make the Stop and that is exactly what you want out of your punt cover unit Clemson ready to dial up some ball plays they've got it on offense here's another opportunity Jesse to stretch out this lead after punting last time I think it goes back to your Playmakers reys I think it's finding the guys that have been working for you earlier on in this game and getting them the football yeah and there's obviously no need to panic I mean think about it you got the lead you got the football you got to be smart with the football make your plays put a good drive together here line getting set on second down he's looking to throw fires to the wide out he makes a catch man this quarterback is having a first half he's over 200 yd already heating up setting up this dude might break his career high in passing I don't know what it is somebody get stats for me they've got it at the 41 third and short trying to keep the chains moving they'll try to run for it and they'll finally get him down after a terrific pickup I'll tell you what a few more runs like that and defensively you start thinking more guys in the Box more big guys I better stop this guy cuz he's unbelievable just great job breaking off the big run and the OC is going to give him the ball some more they've crossed Midfield at the 45 with a first and 10 they'll give it to him again at the 35 he's got roll a huge gain on that one before he ran out of bounds and he has the first down and obviously the offense has had their way getting the huge lead and now when you know it's a running situation later in the ball games you're still getting pounded this defense has to step up at some point and be a lot more physical D coordinators down the road that have to play this offense man they're going to have nightmares because this unit has so much speed so much skill that running back receiver tight end the quarterback making good decisions it is so tough trying to stop them and prevent explosive plays [Music] going to work in the Red Zone they can't pick up the first down without getting it into the end zone they'll try the right side and a good solid pick up there before the defense knocks him down and with that run goes over a 100 yards we knew coming into this game tonight they wanted to force feed him the football they knew knew to win the game they were going to have to establish the running game and be the more physical team in the trenches you turn around and give this guy the ball good things generally happen and we've seen that over the course of this game on Third and short they'll try to throw for it and the quarterback is knocked down back at the 13 this defense needed something to go right man they're down big already in the first half get to the quarterback get him on the ground this could start some momentum going back the other Direction and here comes the field goal unit for the second time tonight we've reached the two-minute warning and they will try to build on what has already been a dominant first half performance we need and for the second time tonight they'll Trot out the field goal kicker it's good and that was dead solid perfect and that lead grows even bigger [Music] [Music] they keep pushing that lead out and the kickoff team's getting some work here he comes from inside his own five and they'll get him on the ground as the offense comes out to start the next Drive budge formation trying to Spring a guy free back to pass it's agular finds his Target down the middle and he might be known for run pits but that was a sure and heavy tackle on the tight end I think that time offensively you're just trying to take what the defense is giving you right they're playing Zone coverage you got your big fella just working right over the ball it's an easy pitch and catch just take the profit let's keep going offense gets set for second down fires to the middle and that pass will be Jarred loose on second down that brings up third down that's where quarterbacks you know they got to be very assertive they got to believe what they see and really pull the trigger but the longer they wait and they get off Rhythm or off timing a lot of times it ends up in incomplete passes you've got a third and manageable backed up in your own end but convert here and you get some momentum looking down the middle got him downfield and he was loose and in the open field and on his way a tremendous pick up on that one this first half of offense won't go on the Highlight Reel so far starting to get things moving it's first and 10 excellent coverage and good use of the hands to knock it away defense were always trying to get some tips you know break on the football get a tip get it up in the air nice job by the player breaking on the football and force the incompletion here comes the offense on second down after the incompletion they go back up top and it goes through his hands oh he had an explosive play right there for the taking but couldn't reel it in well this juncture in the game with how the scoreboard looks no question this offense is going to have to throw to get back in the game and it's going to be tricky now because the defense is expecting it you're going to throw into a lot of big Zone coverages with everybody's eyes on the quarterback not going to be easy caught behind the line it's Tucker quick timeout by the defense there trying to make sure everyone has the same call and the Mountaineers will try to pin them back with the punt he'll try to really get into this one and that is how a punter helps out his defense pinning them deep in their own territory the offense set for a first down play they're they're going to throw it to start the drive that's reeled in it's MAA really good job making a play getting it out to the 24 and moving those chains and a great job by the QB finding the running back getting the football where he can do some damage after the catch and most importantly get the first down first and 10 from their own 24 yd line back to throw it's clck it's complete on the right right side and he'll step across the sidelines after making a good gain on that one nice completion here to this wide receiver and you're going to see this receiver line up in different spots all over the field all game long defense has got to keep their eye on where this guy is because they know he's a big part of this offensive success on second down just keeps firing how about that play to get a hand in there and force the incompletion well I know that one incomplete but what a day this guy has had thrown the football multiple touchdowns and he's done a really nice job with his decision making hasn't thrown any picks which has really helped keep this offense on schedule you got to think they'll try to muscle their way forward on Third and short from the 29 from the gun wants to pass got it in the middle it's bring School quick timeout called by the offense after the play this is exactly why third down has practiced every single down third and short third and medium third and long it's money down for a reason you got to lock in great success by the offense so far on thir oh he wants it all and it was worth the gamble but the long pass is incomplete and as an offense you want to stay aggressive you want to keep calling these downfield shots I know you didn't complete that one but you want to send a clear message you're trying to take the top off this defense keep calling downfield shots soften up the coverage get those safeties playing deep that's going to open up your running game game later on misfired on first down back to the air on second all kinds of room to throw that one in there that is exactly what you're looking for when you talk explosive plays the defense finally able to make the stop man this offense is so dangerous ree they've got dudes all over the field that can make plays there's a big gainer in the pass game you get a chunk of yards like that now the defense is really on its heels just a few seconds remaining here as they try to put something up before halftime makes the catch it's gring stool they'll use a timeout right before half time maybe time for one or two more [Music] plays and here comes the field goal unit and he'll boot one from the right hash he ought to be able to navigate that angle from this distance smashes it between the uprights and they'll push that lead out a little further [Music] [Music] so they get the late field goal right before the half and not much time after this kickoff for an answer from inside the 10 here he comes they make the stop on the return and that is Priority One you don't want some big return to give up a cheap touchdown on the final play of the half first half in the books time now to join Kevin Connors in our halftime update thanks guys a first half that saw a little bit of everything there in Death Valley and we have to start this halftime breakdown by addressing the play of this Elite wide receiver this is clearly a young man who once he's finished playing on Saturdays he's going to be playing on Sundays the kid has different gears he has a knack for finding gaps in the defense and I can't remember a college player with that kind of catch radius time to see how things play out the rest of the way as we send it back to our guys in death valy he'll bring it out it's Haynes and the returner will be brought down down Clemson has their paws on it they'll send out the [Music] offense trying to set the tone on the ground in the third really needed to play like that to get out of their own end they move the chains they mark it at the 29 and David how demoralizing does it have to be for a defense when you know they're going to run it everyone in the stadium knows they're going to run it and still you cannot stop it there's nothing more demoralizing as defensive lineman because it just it ticks you off it gets in your head you you know that guy's going to come off and smack you and you got to do something about it I think the defense maybe time to start committing more guys to stopping that run not worrying about the pass as much no doubt offense wants to keep running the football to win this game but I'm wondering if they're starting to go to the well too often they got to start showing some new wrinkles here in the second half after losing a couple on that last play here's second and 12 back to throw it's kick using the quick game at the 45 on his way defense on skates that time they finally drag him down at the 42 how nice is it as a quarterback when you don't have to throw post routs to get great stats no I can just throw it quickly to one of the fastest players in the entire nation and let him burn this defense the Tigers will snap it on First and 10 using his legs it's mafa running like he wants that football as he gets to the 37 I I like it just frustrate the defense get that five to six yards make him honor the Run make him know that you're willing to run the football and run it effectively halfway there on first down it's second and five just feeds the running back he's knocked down in the back field he'll lose a couple when a running back has had as much success as this guy's had so far listen defense has got to queue in they got a queue in to him he's priority number one number two and number three that's a good start to maybe turning this defensive effort around third down conversions are a huge stat and this one would be a doozy if they can pull it off from the gun wants to pass slings it downfield he's got an open man touchdown tigers and the puming has started the old saying is pick your poison both of them are lethal when you deal with this guy he fits that Clemson quarterback mole that's what stinks so yeah I got to come up and worry about his legs and make sure I bring a safety down to to be aggressive and stopping this Clipson running attack and then he throws it over my head so so tough to defend when you get all the speed the running game going the tempo and then a quarterback that can run and throw good luck they'll try to add another to their lead and the extra point just tacks a little bit more onto this huge lead so that scoring Drive took over six plays and the points come on a pass from 39 ydd out almost ready to kick it away after scoring the [Music] touchdown let's see what he can do with the return nice job by the kickoff team everybody stayed in their lanes and they'll stop him at the 16 the Appalachian State offense returns to the field the give to the back he kept those legs moving got three out to the 19 after the three- yd pickup they come to the line Second and seven dropping back it's agular looking left finds a man by himself he's run out of bounds but not before turning in a big pickup and moving the sticks for a first down just outstanding execution continuing to work his way back through the football yeah and everything about this route looks vertical The Comeback it looks like it's a go I'm thinking speed and then he sets it down QB puts the ball on the money and he makes the play one back in the back field and they'll give it to it he's down at the 3s up second down didn't get much on first down it's second and nine from the gun they'll try the middle a strong tackle and wrap up from the Junior here they come facing third and long from the 40 from the gun wants to pass he lobs one high down the left side and they couldn't make the connection on the long shot I think it's really hard as a quarterback to know when to put touch on the ball when to throw that thing as hard as you possibly can and right there I think I don't think he need to throw it that hard I think he could have softened that up a little bit cuz he had a chance to hit the guy deep for a big play the Mountaineers will line up to punt it away let's see if he can help the coverage team out with this one on the return it's brown Mak a move he just about took that one all the way to the house they finally get him down after a tremendous return leaves it with the back they bring him down and he's going to lose a yard on that one well this defense obviously knows they have to be able to stop the run now in the second half if they're going to win this game and you wonder if they were able to make some tweaks and some adjustments at halftime maybe getting some more bodies close to the line of scrimmage to give themselves a chance to come back in this game didn't get much done on that first play of the drive it's second and 11 pre- snap motion quarterback trying to get a read get it out on the screen they finally get him stopped but what a good job by that front wall to set up the screen and create some W for their running back hey man sometimes you get the perfect play call at the perfect time that time the defense blitzing offensive line allowed everybody to run up field and they slip in the running back screen and behind it there was nobody there to make a tackle and this offense generates a massive play throws to the wide out and that ball is intercepted at the goal line taking it the other way and they capital Iz not only on the pick but on the great return to improve this field position well the defense comes away with the pick there with their nickel personnel and I think moving forward if you're on offense when you see that Personnel on the field you want to run the ball against it because you got smaller guys out there or if you're going to throw think about quick screens outside when you have tight ends flexed on the perimeter bigger bodies blocking smaller guys looking for room it's Roberts he's knocked down in the back field he'll lose a couple and defense nowadays they don't look at stats of what is a yards per rush they look at how many negative plays they can create cuz why now you look at second down man it just became very predictable for this offense nice job creating the loss on first down after losing a couple on that last play here's second and 12 they'll keep it on the ground and he has a solid gain before the defense bottles him up a line up and it is a long way to the sticks from here to the air it's agular he's going to throw deep right side it's complete a huge pickup touchdown Mountaineers hauled it in and just kept right on running to the Hallelujah land it's so challenging to stop the middle of the field passes deep down you stretch me in these zones I got to run with you in man it's always a good idea to run those deep posts and you could tell they saw it all the way receiver quarterback on same page gets the big touchdown getting set for the point after for the extra point and it's up and good quick strike offense on that three playay scoring drive and they cover the final 54 yds with the explosive play in the passing game for six about to kick it away after scoring the touchdown he'll bring it out it's Haynes I imagine he's going to get an earful on the side line after bringing it out of the end zone and being knocked down at the 11 power football with the Run determined run but he stopped after two yards down at the [Music] 13 after picking up a couple it's second and eight he's looking to throw right down the middle makes a connection and he almost ran away from everybody on that one a huge pick up on that play nice play design on that one you make it easy for your quarterback too because it's easy to see what's happening right in front of you over the middle of the field you can see where Defenders are dropping you can see where the soft spots are in zone coverage and just a really nice job by the QB locating his guide making an accurate throw PS and fires complete to the right they make the stop trying to pick up just a little bit at a time to get to that first down marker my old coach said you'll never go broke taking a profit take what's there take the positive yards and never complain they'll line up for a second down play try left side he's dropped behind the line of scrimmage that'll be a loss of three yeah and listen the offense has had their way and they've had so much success and so much production but listen at least the defense got a rep you know maybe this gets you some a spark maybe this get you some energy maybe we'll see a little bit more life from this defense yeah they may not win the game but I think this defensive coaching staff at this point based on how this game is gone they're just trying to find things to build off of maybe that's something they can point to as they get ready for their next next opponent things they did right things that they got to do more consistently and they just want to give this guy a chance to make a play on third down and more times than not he is going to deliver he's so good so efficient such a good route Runner got the speed got the complete game so you definitely want to highlight him and especially on those Downs that matter the most if something's not open Quick underneath find him he'll make those contested catches they bring him down and he's going to lose a yard on that one maybe that stop is a good sign for this defense maybe the defense is starting to figure it out obviously offense has been running the football with so much success something has to change that was a good start the Lost yardage leaves him with second and 11 back to pass it's cnick quick strike complete they bring him down but a solid pick up to put them in position to pick up a first down listen running backs are not just running backs anymore you're going to be a wide receiver in today's football and a great job sneaking out of the back field getting the football letting them get some positive yards they've started a pretty good drive this will be the seventh play but they need to convert third and five from the gun wants to pass sends it downfield touchdown tigers and the punishment has been extended know quarterbacks and receivers they develop confidence and chemistry as the game goes goes on these two right now are definitely on the same [Music] page lining up to tack one more onto that lead and with the extra point the lead is even bigger about to kick it off after punching it in for the [Applause] touchdown and he'll return it and try to get behind his blockers he was looking for some Running Room but not much to be found as he stopped at the 18 appach State regains possession and the Mountaineer offense headed to the field and this will be incomplete a big hit there forces second down tell what that was a lightning fast decision you could tell he knew what he wanted to do right away makes the decision but maybe his footwork wasn't a little bit good and the pass wasn't where he wanted to put that thing I know that second down coming up on the run it's Roberts picks his way ahead pick up of three and gets it to the 20 yd line a third and long coming up here looking to pass it's agular unloads to the wide out makes the grab gets it to the four 42 yd line and that's a first down this dude is just exceptional in every facet so fluid such a great route Runner and a big play there and money down third down find him I mean you want to find that matchup because he's going to win and gets a good release gets down the field you see his that's your playmaker that's your guy get it to him get the first down and you can forget running in the middle against this defense defense is about firing off hitting the offensive guys it's staying in your gaps everybody knowing where they're supposed to be you could tell the defense everyone was right where they're supposed to be nowhere to run they got nothing on the last play it's second and 10 he'll try to pop the draw they bring him down and he's going to lose a yard on that one I like the idea of going draw there you're trying to sell pass but you still need to do a better job up front executing those blocks there's too many one-on ones where they got beat and as a result they suffer a negative play they've got a good chunk of ground to cover on Third and long from the 41 looking to throw couldn't find a man and just had to throw it away to avoid a negative play it's so nice when you know it's third and long you know a pass is coming you work on it all week get your feet set in the sticks understand that quarterback's got to be rushed get him off of his B nice execution by this defense and the Mountaineers will putt this one away they'll look to pin him deep and they'll get him down after the return at the 27 yd line Clemson ready to dial up some ball plays they've got it on offense used the play fake now to throw and this sophomore able to wreak some havoc and get the sack the defense just simply not fooled by the play action often times an offense you're hoping the Run fake is going to slow down those pass rushers but man oh man they had their ears pinned back and they are looking for a ball play that'll work now facing second and long from the 19 to throw it's KCK set setting up the screen and not much doing there as that defense runs him out of bounds I'll tell you what if you want to be overzealous and you want to be a Blitzer all the time I like running the screen right behind him did a great job throwing the screen almost broke this one for a long game but it just keeps the defense a little bit more honest if you want to start bringing a lot of pressure on Third and long he'll have to turn it loose deep trying to make magic on the scramble good call oh good execution as they move the chains and they have a first down at the 38 man how tough is this guy to defend he drops back everything tells you pass and then he scrambles and gets the first down just so hard to defend Clemson ready to go back to work with another first down they're looking for an advantage to the right turns it on in Midfield and they'll finally bring him down that he rips off a huge play Man sometimes it just gets frustrating and you've just been beat down all day this defense hasn't had answers but now you can't let him run the football and just run it down your throat and be physical this defense has to do something different and find a way to make something happen the tigers are moving quickly down the field grabbed in the middle it's Moore and they'll finally catch up to him but but not before a big chunck of yardage is picked up and at this point the defense looks as if they've been in one of those dizzy bat races they've got no idea where the ball's coming from he's over 500 yards passing yeah this is a Heisman trophy level performance from this guy the accuracy the decision making the athleticism everything has been on display he's right on target they stop him almost immediately short gain there still a little ground cover pick up the first you know sometimes when you're throwing against Zone coverage you need time for the routes to develop so nice job by the quarterback there being patient allowing his receivers to work themselves open going to work on second down in the red zone is still some ground to cover to pick up that first down off the RPO complete touchdown Clemson and the beat down has ensued and this receiver is on fire he's got all the skills that you look for and a big time Target that's already his second touchdown of the game [Music] he'll try to tack on one [Music] more and the extra point will tack another one onto this lead so an 82 yd drive there and they finish it by firing one in from the 13 for the score lining up to cover the kick after that touchdown Drive on the move from inside his five he was hoping for something a little more Dynamic but they get him on the ground at the 20 the appalachin state offense returns to the field they hope to be able to cash in on this drive David after having to punt it last time yeah and I think this offense needs to start it with the first play you need to be successful and productive on that first play and it gets you in less predictable situations no doubt too and don't you just feel like there's a little bit more sense of urgency on this drive it just feels like they've got to be able to put some points up on the board here picked up two yards on that last one they need eight on second down back to throw it's agular got it set up on the outside and he'll run across the sidelines after the good gain [Music] and talk about spreading the ball around everyone getting a chance to show off the hands based on the number of targets we've [Music] seen I guess if you're an optimist the stage is set for a massive fourth quarter comeback they turn to the passing game on Third and short quickly complete they'll keep this drive moving by picking up the first down they have it at the 36 well look that wasn't a touchdown but that was a massive play for this offense they needed some momentum they needed to find a rhythm in what better way than converting on third down awesome job by the quarterback getting through his progression comes out throwing on first down they're setting up the screen didn't have much room to run and not a whole lot of help short gain there and still plenty of ground to cover for the first down and listen I know that wasn't a huge gain it was positive but I like doing more of that in today's college football I'm just going to try to give my Playmakers a chance to do damage in space away from all the big boys inside he wants to throw it again fires to the wide out holds it in good job running that route to get past the sticks because he got nothing after the the catch the offense has struggled they're not going to win this game but trust me this coaching staff is still trying to find things to build off of for next week and after an explosive play like that maybe they can generate just a little bit of momentum and gain a little bit of confidence that they can keep coaching up heading into their next game caught over the middle it's horn and oh he was Off to the Races after the catch and they finally drag him down yeah when you run those drag routes just takes a little bit of knowhow and when I say that the receivers got to understand find Space my quarterback's going to find me he's looking for that space at the same time nice throw nice catch way to get the first down the Mountaineers getting set on First and 10 looking to move it through the air got his man in the middle excellent job working through the air there finding a hole in that defense and picking up a first down well the defense did a nice job taking everything away down the field but once the drag route was caught they just couldn't rally to the ball carrier in time to make a tackle and as a result new set of downs from the 22 on First and 10 from the gun the running back has it and the defense finally makes the stop after the sweet run and good gain a huge game um probably would have loved to say this earlier in the game probably would love to have some of these runs and had a little bit more success running the football earlier now I might think about maybe cranking the tempo and and probably if I'm going to need these runs I'm going to need to go ahead and score on these runs or I'm going to need to start chucking the football a first down run in the Red Zone he works his way all the way down to the three and the defense is Reeling I know the passing game sells and the passing game is exciting but it's not exciting to get five or six yards a pop on the ground but it will be very successful and you've got it down to the three now it's second and goal wide out in motion trying to barge in and they try the middle of this Stout defense and they rise to the challenge and with the stuff there Jesse on second down this little third to midrange you got two downs what are you thinking here maybe getting your quarterback out on the perimeter and giving him a run pass option see if you can get the defense in a b twice they've been denied touchdowns in the red zone and now it's third third and goal and he's sprinting he'll take it all the way touchdown appalachin State yeah good for them they they put together a drive they they got a touchdown it's been a bad day I mean this is a day they're going to want to forget they're getting destroyed but at least you get some positive vibes maybe maybe finish this game on a little bit of a high note a little bit now they'll line up for what they hope is automatic hit that one with some aggression for the point after they marched 79 yds on the drive and finish to deal with the short touchdown run from the two the kickoff team on the field as they'll send this one away and he takes this from inside the five really disciplined job by the coverage unit to get down there and make the stop at the 19 Clemson has their paws on it and they'll send out the offense just gets it to the 28 pick up of one didn't get tou on first down it's second and nine out of the gun the running back has it keeps it moving for a three- yd gain to the 24 and that last run leaves him with a third down will they keep it on the ground looking for a man it's clck got his man quickly he'll make a play on third down he's got enough for the first as they mark it at the 32 it's all about critical downs and distances on defense you want to be great unit defensively you've got to be good on third down and in the red zone for this defense giving up a third down like that that is just a gut punch looking for space it's mafa they bring him down and he's going to lose a yard on that one it's going to be tough sledding for the offense here they're trying to ice this game by running the football and bleeding the clock they've got a pretty good lead here late in the game but the defense knows the run's coming right so they're going to be loading the line of scrimmage getting stops like what they just did be interesting to see what the offense does on this next one give to the running back they bring him down and he's going to lose a yard on that one well the defense finally gets a stop there but a big reason why they've got the lead right now is because of this dude toing The Rock and David it just seems like he's been getting better as the game's gone on yeah and the defense all night no answers I mean he's just he's shown you a little bit of everything whether it's inside whether it's outside whether it's out running people or breaking tackles this guy's been a game record they bring him down and he's going to lose a yard on that one nice job by this defense listen you got to understand they're going to run the football they're going to try to milk the clock Jesse they got the huge lead haven't been a lot of good plays for this defense in this game so far so can they build on that one can they create some turnovers here in the second half to get back in this game fourth down and the punt team sends it the other way they'll get down and put a stop to this return they'll mark it at the 32 appalachin State regains possession and the Mountaineer offense headed to the field and that incomplete pass caused by the big hit on first down second down coming at this point of the game in the fourth quarter it is going to be tough for this offense to get some completions here because now trailing by this much the defense is expecting pass and they're putting a whole bunch of extra DBS on the field to help them out in coverage after the misfire it's second and 10 just a short pass to the tight end he's brought down quickly minimal gain there still a bit short of the first down you just get the feeling this defense is going to make it hard on them right they've got the lead it's late they're going to try to tackle everybody in bounds offense is going to have to really work for this and be smart you got to attack the sidelines you got to throw first down you got to keep this thing moving vertically down the field looking downfield at tular he's got it down the left and they got the defense on that one and they get it to the 29 yd line well I'll give this offense some credit because they've got a lot of fight there is no quit in them and they're obviously trailing by a big amount in this game they haven't had a lot of success but they're still taking shots and their players are still out there competing and the Mountaineers have it with a first and 10 looking for a gap it's Roberts and excellent Vision to find Running Room there and make a really good pickup before the defense put a stop to it that that's a really nice game it just would have been really nice to see this from this offense earlier now you're getting to the point where there's a couple of thought processes do I build momentum for next week do I try to get this offense the ground game clicking or do I throw the football every play and try to make this football game close they bring him down and he's going to lose a yard on that one and I love when defenses see pulling guards because what you're supposed to do is run through immediately if you're a linebacker you see a pulling guard I'm running through that Gap if you're a defensive lineman and that guard pulls in front of you I run down the line of scrimmage and Chase great job seeing that puller making a play getting a tackle for a loss on second down looking to throw and he really needed to hold on to that one but it was not loose and third down is coming it's a nice adjustment by the defense here with a big lead in the game you're putting extra DBS on the field knowing the offense has to throw to get back in this one in the fourth quarter so your best cover guys on the field and they force an incompletion on the last one if they can convert here that type of play can really give you a shot of momentum and he's not going to make it the defense denying him the first down down by multiple possessions you can't come up empty on this drive they'll go for it on fourth down he'll try to throw and pick up the first down and the incomplete pass turns the ball over on Downs a first down for the offense they go to the ground found just enough Running Room he picks up four to the 15 after the productive first down play it's second and six they'll go right back to it nudges ahead for one out to the [Music] 16 so third and short from inside the 20 you convert here and this drive takes on a a different complexion wants to throw it's cnick throws to the wide out can't make the connection on third down thanks to that tough hard noosed pass defense and now it's fourth down this is a point where you just got to be able to focus and the critical down and distances in this game like that third down right there when it's a good throw you got to make the catch you've got to be able to make that play So Clemson is lining up to punt this one away he's going to try to flip the field with this one he'll settle for some pretty good field position and make the fair catch at around the 35 the appalachin state offense returns to the field there have been a couple of missed opportunities for these offenses in the last couple of drives Jet and I think for this offense here it'd be nice to hit an explosive play be aggressive and really pay off your defense's effort that last drive and instead of having to move the ball down the field consistently and then getting stopped on Fourth Downs you're right create some of those explosives take those deep sh shots make those big plays now on second down the play action fake unloads to the wide out working on the right just gashing this defense a big Gainer to the 40 yd line man it's so important when you play QB I got to know when to put some air on it and I got to know when to rocket that thing in there working the middle of the field he knew he needed the rocket threw it in there great job great catch the offense lines up at the 40 they've got a first down he's going to pass he's got it down the middle and there might have been trouble if they hadn't gotten to him immediately this offense has their work cut out for him man because the coverage has been so tight and if you're not throwing to the sideline or you're not getting past the sticks this defense is going to tackle you inbounds like they just did on that last play and bleed the clock right on target with that last pass now it's second and me medium he's looking to throw and the defense picks up a sack getting the quarterback down at the 44 and it's simply been that kind of day for this offense they've had so many struggles and at this point in the fourth quarter you're trailing by a ton of points the defense knows you're throwing it and they're pinning their ears back and they are getting after you as you saw it on that sack there they line up with some serious work to do if they want to convert this one on Third and long he'll need to loosen up that arm finds the tight end and that is good versatility there and a big hit from the backer and pass coverage it's a really nice job in coverage defensively there because that tight end he wasn't really even open quarterback just still tried to put it on him and and give him an opportunity but great tackle short of the stick setting up fourth down and they'll send the field goal team back out for the second time tonight and the kicker delivers the three ball to finish off the drive and the field goal was good they get three on the board but it really doesn't matter much in terms of the deficit so after putting three on the board the kickoff team is out there ready to boot it away he'll bring it back from inside his five really disciplined job by the coverage unit to get down there and make the stop at the 19 Clemson ready to dial up some ball plays they've got it on offense on the ground trying to pull the plug on this clock he's knocked down in the back field he'll lose a couple you haven't seen that happen too often tonight taking a loss on a run this guy's been special he's been finding ways to get into the second level of this defense and because of his talent and ability that's a big reason why they've got the lead right now you know that's not going to deter them that last play they're going to keep handing him the football they'll keep it on the ground get some work done there pick up of four to the 22 we've reached the two-minute warning and this offense will be quite content just to drain the rest of the time away now facing a third and [Music] long they'll give it to the back and the defense is swarming to keep him from getting to the first down and the defense is still fighting they they haven't had the day that they dreamed of you know talking to the coaches into the game like they thought they had a good plan they'd be ready to attack and and and limit some of the damage this offense has done they haven't done it today though they got to go back to the drawing board figure some things out cuz this wasn't a great day fourth down and the punt team sends it the other way he gets a block and the returner could find no daylight he goes down at bachin State regains possession and the Mountaineer offense headed to the field well this has pretty much been an evisceration in an oldfashioned stomping Jesse Yeah and and listen this is one of those games where you're not necessarily throwing the playbook in the trash after this one but I do think this coaching staff David really has to be honest with themselves and rethink what schemes are working and not working and which guys maybe need to get more touches in this offense well I I think I like the trash option as well because it's been hot trash this has been a bad day offense defense giving up a ton of points not scoring near enough so it's been a bad day you're going to want to forget a quick tackle made but he's got plenty for the first down man listen you get Zone coverage and you can hit that curl route and he comes open continually keep hitting it this might be a play to come back to there're down to the 25 on First and 10 to the air it's agular throws toward the end zone and they won't make the connection going for the big play and this is just one of those days man where everything has gone wrong right like they just haven't been in a rhythm they haven't they haven't got it going and never built the momentum this is this is one of those days you learn from you try to grow from a lot of things that we're going to show in the film room that people aren't going to like but hopefully you can learn from it and do better next time they'll throw again after the incompletion fires to the wide out he's got it works his way to the four yd line and have it first and goal and now he's in the 400 Club 400 that's a pretty good day at the office when you're putting up over 400 yards this defense hadn't had a lot of answers the Mountaineers will try to put one on the board on first and goal here's the snap looking to throw and the quarterback is knocked down back at the 13 and man is that a just indictment of the day your quarterback getting drill late in the football game this offense is sputtered they haven't found any kind of good Rhythm they haven't done things that that really gives your coach confidence and it makes you want to believe in them this offense has a lot of work to do before their next
