this a great night for baseball ahead on the show it's the Miami Marlins taking on the San Francisco Giants all right we'll be back to get this one started after this just about set to go now and our pitcher tonight Logan web this guy has a ton of respect from his own teammates boo he's the type of guy if he's not having a good day he'll go out there and just wear it no matter what happens his starts tend to be less demanding on the bullpit and the batter will be the short stop Vidal bruhan the pitch that one fouled off and the right-hander [Music] deals fought off foul knocks that one away and we'll do it again out towards right center field sizing this one up puts it away for the out and time now for the Marlins lineup Jake burer the next up for the Marlins just missed one out base is empty next pitch misses two and0 way to lay off that fast ball up right there you're looking for something you see well that you can handle but you also have to keep the discipline so that you're not popping up pit is that are just a little too [Applause] high there's The Swinging a Miss ground ball to the right side steps on first for the out third the first Bas Jonah two outs Bas is empty Jonah bride the next up for the Marlins and a foul ball kicks and fires and takes low for ball one on the ground right side and foul ball two out bace is empty and another ball well he's desperately looking for that swing and Miss he's going to have to just change speeds a little bit try to move it around create just a little bit of Illusion at the end there's a swing and a drive McCrae going back and it's caught just in front of the wall we're Midway in inning number one no score back here with my pal singy getting the nod in this one Edward Cabrera it's always interesting to see how he utilizes all of his pitches and how many of those he has a good feel for on that given day when he's right he's really able to keep hitters guessing and all of his stuff seems to be coming out of the same arm slot the same tunnel and that can make life very difficult on his opponents the wine of the pitch up the middle into the Outfield base hit solo Runner aboard to start the [Applause] inning so here's Wade now on the ground to short ruhan off balance feed there's one relay to First double play nice soft hands on the backhand right there in the six hole starts the double play that's not an easy throw but he puts it on the money really good job to get that double play started here's Elliot Ramos they tried to get him to chase on a slider down and away [Applause] two down nobody on right through there for a strike comes up empty that strike two well that's that slurve right there he threw it extremely well he talk about just a ton of breaks so tough to get that Barrel to the wide to the pitch fights it off he'll see another and that's ball four one of the things about that two out walk the base runner over at first base is going to have a very aggressive secondary lead so a ball down the line or into the Gap will produce a two out RBI and those are the best that is if you are the offensive side of it Ramos off of first with two away that one finds the zone and it's own and two and a bat like this is almost over as it begins in this situation you have no idea what the next pitch is going to be you're just got to hold hope that you can make contact and that one a little below the knees and the count one and two swing and a miss struck him out and the inning is over so the Giants leave one scoreless after one back here at Oracle park now it's the right fielder Jesus Sanchez this is a hitter who takes his game to another level playing at night and immediately pumps in a strike to the left-handed [Applause] hitter andal two Sanchez tries to check his swing now look to third didn't go and he deals wouldn't chase that time that one misses and it's three and two really good take especially with two strikes out to short Fitzgerald fires over to first one up one that one missing inside second inning here no score on the ground to the left tosses to First Marlin set down in order nothing to do with for the Marin we'll go to the bottom of the second no score back here in San Francisco here's Matt Chapman it's interesting he plays kind of a a power spot defensively but runs pretty well so when you're looking at that position you're not expecting someone that has maybe above average speed but he does here comes the 01 and I think that skill set really upgrades the position because when you have that kind of speed it makes the whole team that much better and the righty deals struck Him Out Swinging slider got him for strike three definitely made him chase a little bit out of his own right there I don't think that's a strike if he takes it pretty textbook pitching get ahead in the count get the guy in the Box on his heels and then force him to chase your pitch where he doesn't have much of a chance to do any [Applause] damage one down base is empty right through there for a strike what about him playing another position on defense one that would require a little more range absolutely and I think if push came to shove where they had to make a a move during a game it surprise a lot of people you might even be able to put them in center field here's a high Chopper Norby throws the first already two out here in the home half of breaking pitches away you get the feeling as a hitter that the pitcher is afraid of you that he doesn't want to challenge you so I think the confidence level is raised right here 3-1 and he couldn't come up with it maybe a little loss of focus on the mound right there pretty much gifted him first base with a quick free pass Grant McCrae the next giant to hit pitch misses and that's ball one right-hander kick steals puts it in the air out towards left Center Stow squeezes it and that is the third out of the inning one left for San Francisco we'll move to the third with no score and welcome back to the ballpark stepping in Conor Norby web back to work Norby measures 5' 10 in 185 lbs and he was the second round pick in 2021 liner to Second and picked on the Hop tosses to first lead off man retired here in the third Lopez Otto Lopez digs in [Applause] now sliced to right no trouble here puts it away for the out two away man he smoked that fast ball he all over it it's just frustrating when you can't get it to fall maybe next time up he'll find a hole and now the catcher comes up to H that one finds the Zone that's strike one and this guy is just filling up the strike zone right now don't want to get yourself in an 02 hole you better be ready to pull the trigger on the first pitch just missed next offering is downstairs two down nobody on on the ground out to short fires across the diamond and it's a one two3 inning and the Marlins down quietly and we are still scoreless and we're back here's Kurt casali here the right hter back to work oh that hit him and they get the out after the Ricochet and now they'll hustle out to check on him that was quite a shot he took as you see him down on the knee yeah clearly in some real pain but he will not want to come out of this game if he doesn't have to it's looking to me like he's going to try to shake it off and continue back to the lead off spot in the Giants lineup and digging in for San Francisco Tyler Fitzgerald a short stop takes the [Applause] ball that's in there well we call that key H holding even though it's right there and looks pretty good if he doesn't love it he's not going to swing that early in the count in the air left field down the line Stow racing over to make the catch good pitch he just kind of had him out in front on that pitch away and wasn't able to stay closed here's Lamont Wade Jr 0 for one so [Applause] far and that's in the dirt this one smashed down the right field line that's a fair ball and it's getting into the corner the throw into second in there safely it's always fun to see a double rip down the line that one just barely stayed fair so that was a good call by the Umpire he was all over it runner in scoring position now and a good opportunity to push across the first run of the ball game so man aboard Elliot Ramos the next giant to hit and a swinging a Miss there well they're looking to get on the board first here after that clutch two out double made this inning interesting swing and a miss and that's strike two that one not close ball one and that's a little bit high cut on and Miss struck him out that ends the inning so one hit is foul one down base is empty foul ball it stays nothing in two and that skips into dirt and that's downstairs and outside fourth inning underway no score got him looking couldn't pull the trigger on a [Applause] and they grab the lead it's one nothing boo his plan was to hit the ball hard and he was going to figure out the rest later you can't argue with those results a good hitter gets pitch recognition early he saw exactly where that was going to be the challenge not get over anxious and come out of out of your swing he stayed on it and got alliv it pesu Sanchez now at the plate way outside one and0 two outs Wang and a ground ball up the middle that's a base hit all over that one right there just kept it simple played Pepper with the middle of the infield and took it back where it came from and there's just no one there to knock it down man it first and now Derek Hill he's over for one just missed the one hard hit right side they take the force out and that is that one scor here home run a gigantic blast and it ties it up it's 1- he just sent this Stadium into a frenzy they're going nuts for a pitcher the odds are in your favor if you keep that breaking ball down that time he got punished for it hitter just did a really good job of staying within himself and getting the barrel to the baseball [Applause] so one out nobody on here comes Mike yky to the plate close one doesn't get the call ball one Mike yky originally drafted by the Orioles 14th round out of Vanderbilt in 2013 the Giants got him in March of 2019 and San Francisco's really where he got a shot to play and now two and nothing Cabrera maybe a little less aggressive on the mound right now after that home run Chris yeah it seems that way you know guys they can come out feel good but then all of a sudden get touched up a little bit and they start trying to throw instead of pitch they're not trusting their stuff sneaks through base head so man aboard now with one away well that was one of those high percentage Advantage counts where batting averages are just so much higher there's nothing cheap about the way he got that one through the infield that was ripped cut out in front and didn't get under it like he would have liked but definitely put a good swing on it Tyro Estrada the next giant to hit walked his first time fast ball in for a strike it's 0 and one well he's been good for the most part is it going to take someone going out to the mound to maybe refocus him a bit well partner every picture is a little different I I liken it to you sometimes you come in and you're not as focused and I kind of do what it takes to get you on track and then you have a great show uh so glove flip to second and their second double play of the day will end the fourth but we're all tied up misses and that's ball one you know these Marlins just aren't putting great swings on the baseball in this one just one extra base hit for him so they haven't exactly been hitting the ball Gap to Gap or out of the park that makes it really difficult to generate runs and it's through for a hit so a man on base to start the inning he was all over that one he wasn't able to elevate it but he put a great swing on it right on time good balanced approach and just blasted it through the infield go ahead run on base and now Conor Norby grounded out his first time fouled off he was [Applause] late pickoff mve to First Stowers Dives back in safely and now the o01 SLA the other way foul with two strikes may see some movement over there at first base trying to stay out of the double play right here righty delivers he fouls it off will'll do it again the pitch and a foul ball he stays alive Stow on at first nobody out and a base hit throw back in quickly first and second now with nobody out love how he let that ball travel trusted his hands nice job of going the other [Applause] way first and second no outs Otto Lopez the next up for the [Applause] Marlins and that's in for a strike first and second no outs and we're at the top of the fifth close one doesn't get the call and the count even one and one the pitch and that's in the dirt and a count two and one good spot for the hitter definitely has the advantage in this count with Runners on look for him to be aggressive on this next pitch yeah the two- on hammered but foul no outs Runners at first and second got him swinging he's really good hitting the baseball the other way so credit the pitcher for having him out in front of that pitch clearly he had him fool two on one out here here's the [Applause] catcher and that one fouled off well all eyes on the double play ball in this spot no better way to get out of this [Music] inning that one finds the zone two now Runners at first and second with one gone he boots it throw to first gets him good job to stay with it there for the second out not a bad outcome in that spot the runner moves up to Third and now they have a chance to drive in the go-ahead run it's not a knock but at the end of the day it's a good at bat Vidal bruhan the next up for the Marlins tapped at the plate but it's a foul ball and the pitch the short stop takes a ball two on two outs and a count one and [Applause] two and that's down it away second and third two down gets a pieace and stays alive two outs that's down and in Jake burer next to hit for the Marlins and a pitch foul ball and it remains a full count that one down the line he takes it himself to the bag and that'll do it Marlin strand a pair still tied 1-1 and here is Grant McCrae [Music] and here it comes and the first pitch misses for ball one well these Giants to put it bluntly need to put together more competitive at bats and I don't think they've lived up to their own expectations at the plate they really haven't worked many deep counts or long at bats and that's fine if you're having a lot of success but at this point I think it's time to make an adjustment Bo that's staying within his game right there I mean this Speedster gets the infield single and now he's on base to possibly do some damage I love seeing what guys like this can do to disrupt the game once they get in a position to do so and up next for the Giants Kurt Cali in there and it's O and one [Applause] the pitch sharp grounder that's through for a base hit throw back in quickly first and second now with nobody out couple of singles back to back once you get the ball by the pitcher there's a lot of base hits up the middle even on ground ball so a nice job to use that big hole and get himself a hit a chance now to take the lead and at this point in the game that could be a deciding run so the batting order turns over here's the short stop at the play Tyler Fitzgerald that one inside and that is ball one the pitch Bing ball here rolls foul ball to strike the pitch and another ball with to lay off that pitch [Applause] down that one is absolutely belted no one can get there it falls in one runs in rounds third headed for the plate and he's got himself a triple into score from first it's 3-1 runner at third nobody out and now the first baseman Lamont Wade Jr that misses the zone and that's ball one runner at third nobody out last half of inning number five [Applause] is in there and the count is one and one activity in the bullpen Mike Balman getting loose out there Emanuel also getting ready and that is in for a strike going to count one and two hit hard on the ground to Short bruhan to First in time there for the out runner scores from third so important to really lock in on an bat like this it seems easy with the infield back but you've got to make sure you put the ball in play put it on the ground brought that run in here's the left fielder Elliot Ramos a strike out and a walk strike one still only one out here in the inning in the air on the infield Lopez under it and puts the squeeze on that one and there's two away that was a good pitch to hit right down the heart of the plate had pretty good timing on it just got underneath a little bit and popped it up two outs base is empty Michael conforto will climb [Applause] in and it's fouled away this isn't a pitcher that softens up when he starts to show signs of fatigue I mean his stuff stays sharp highfly ball near the pole that one is foul clearly hoping he could get a swing and Miss on that but doesn't fool The Hitter with that breaking ball nice job just couldn't keep it fair way high there and the count one and two that one ripped and that should be extra bases around first digging for two to Second pulls him off the bag little more back spin on that instead of the Top Spin and he's jogging around the bases rather than pulling up at second [Applause] now it's Matt Chapman he's already homered here in this one fouled back ourway and that's out of play two outs and one in scoring position and ball one and that one gets past the catcher and on the wild pitch he goes down to third he just hasn't had it in this one been fighting himself out there and that's just another example of it we'll see if he can find it at all while he's still out there and the pitch foul tip into the mid struck him out three runs for him here and they move ahead five innings complete it's the Giants four and the Marlins one and welcome back to the ballpark and now the DH Jake burer Jak web back to work well after scoring runs this is where you looking for that shutdown inning get that hot team back in there to swing the bats [Applause] and strike [Applause] two fast ball and he gets out of the way straighten him up a little bit out there to Center McCrae settles underneath makes the catch for the out and here's the first baseman Jonah bride he's already homered in this game bride in his second season 28 years old and they traded for him earlier this year next pitch is outside he hasn't wanted to challenge him both of those pitches off the plate away don't expect anything down the heart of the plate you may just have to be patient and take your walk here bounced up the middle and it finds its way through for a hit so they get a man aboard with a one out single couldn't have timed it up any better than that pretty good spot hard inside but that's a perfect example of keeping your hands inside the ball tight to the body the ability to take that back up the middle shows his approach is to use the entire Field Sanchez the next to hit takes ball one [Applause] R leads off first with one away Line Drive caught it's never fun going back to the Dugout after hitting a line drive that finds a glove but you will get some high fives you know when you make great contact you feel like you've done everything right but in this game of baseball not everything is in your control Derek Hill the next up left 678 D in the bottom of the six it's the Giants four and the marins one back now for the bottom of the six and there's a new pitcher on the mount tent Emanuel and they felt it was time to bring on a left-handed reliever from the pin with the Lefty hitter coming up I think it's a good move I know I never liked when opposing teams did that to me Mike yenky up here one for two well on paper it's favorable to have a fairly quick inning here with two of the three hitters he set to face batting that's hard hit in a line that's a fair ball and it's getting into the corner Tyro Estrada getting ready to hit swing it a foul straight [Applause] back and he deals movement in the bullpen Mike Balman up and loosening in the nobody out runner at first and he swings over the top there knowing that the pitcher wants a ground ball double play opportunity here you've got to lay off pitches down in the zone right there swinging at that pitch that's a no no one two now gets a piece there we'll do it again at the belt and fires and down on strikes he goes and there's a one away Grant McCrae the next giant to hit he's someone that you might not describe as having Elite level speed but he can absolutely move and it is a factor in his game there's the strike Bo this guy's definitely a plus Runner but what I'd love about him is that he goes all out every single time never takes a break guys like that even though they don't have the Elite Speed the fact that they're consistent with it they make moves on the base paths leftand hitter Waits got him and there are two outs all interesting he's looking very comfortable out of the stretch after giving up the lead off single backto back strikeouts so they haven't been able to move that runner up get him in scoring position and try to have a better chance of scoring I tell you good job so far on the mound he just needs one more [Applause] out casali in the Box for the third time today as he takes that one off the [Applause] plate down and in moved his feet that one in for a strike two and two man this guy's got a great feel for his breaking B today next one miss misses and now it's three and two great RBI spot here just got to stay focused on the pitch the runner will be in motion so something in the Gap should definitely score it cuts and misses it's a strike out so the Giants leave one as they hold on to a 4-1 lead and we're back we go to the top of the seventh now the left fielder Kyle Stowers the fish in Striking Distance but have some work to do boo it starts with the late off man need a good and bad out of him right here the wine of the pitch wouldn't chase that time meanwhile activity in the bullpen Tyler Rogers getting ready to come in for Bob Melvin Rogers a left hand ER also throwing here comes a pitch and a ground ball to First and it goes just foul this to Third and they get the lead off hitter in the seven now Conor Norby on the ground to third slings it across and two away to start the seven Auto Lopez will hit next and first offering is fouled off now a highfly ball out to left Center Ramos makes the grab and that's the third out [Music] so the Marlins go with a new arm Mike Balman just trying to keep this one close here and this is where a bullpen can give their players a chance to fight back into the game at the batter now Tyler Fitzgerald the wi to the pitch he swings and fouls one off and the right-hander [Music] deals hard ground ball base KN man aboard on the leadoff single clearly seeing the ball very well in this one timing on the swing was good able to shoot the ball up the middle didn't Square it up as much as he probably would have liked but that's a good approach paying off and now they've got some speed on first so we'll see if they try to get him into motion first wave he handles it himself and that's one away as the the lead off man is out in the eighth back to the top of the Miami order now it's the Marlins leadoff hitter Vidal bruhan got to keep things airtight defensively right here on your toes ready to make a play if you can get this to the ninth with a three-run lead it should be a w one down base is empty and there's a foul ball righty to the plate spoils the two strike pitch and he'll see another the Giants leading by three and we're in the top of the eigh in the air right field pretty well struck that one's back and it bangs off the foul pole home run he circles the bases and they cut into the lead it's 42 well he really crushed that thing down the line and everyone had to hold their breath until it clanked off the pole and every time that happens it just kind of feels like a trick shot or something but really it's just a stroke of luck that it stays Fair long enough Bas is empty one away now here's the Marlins DH Jake burger and it gets by [Applause] him just a simple ground ball the other way they've had eyes on it man sometimes that's all you need to do just let the ball travel put the ball in play and just hope it finds a at first one away next offering is in for a strike that's a great take right there even though it's a strike with the situation runner on first base you want to keep the ball off the ground and you swing at that pitch most Lopez one at second and still another double play their fourth tonight inning over but the solo shot stretches their lead even further Last Chance coming up here for the Marlins back now and on the mound a closer number 74 and we all know about a slider it's just filthy man and one of the better ones in the game I'd say spin rates very very high and it just breaks a [Applause] ton the pitch Sanchez leading things off and takes a strike goodness I think he just took the best pitch he's going to see in this at bat you don't get many like that in that location I don't know if you take that pitch against any pitcher out there in the [Applause] mouth kicks andand deal sliced hard but fouled down the left side ripped towards third Chapman over to First in time and a quick out number one now he's two outs away Derek Hill the next up for the Marlins oh for three with three ground outs and he swings and misses and it's nothing in war good late sink on that fast ball out of the hand looks so good and then by the time he gets in The Hitting Zone hard to get the barrel to it one down base is empty [Applause] and that one in the air center field McCrae
