Ohio State vs. Western Michigan Game Recap - College Football Week 2

Ohio state was one of the only teams in college football this weekend that picked up two wins on Saturday they picked up a win when Texas destroyed Michigan at the big house at noon and then they picked up a huge win of their own at 3:30 uh that back-to-back must have been nice for Buckey fans 56 to nothing Ohio State destroys Western Michigan we saw this one coming we were all over Ohio State to cover minus 37 uh I I think this was a classic Buy Low sell high with Western Michigan taking son to the wire in week one in reality there was no spot on the football field that Western Michigan was going to find success against this very very talented Buckey's unit quinan junkins was a superstar 108 yards rushing on nine attempts two touchdowns including an 80 yard run he was the better back than trayon Henderson that feels like it may be a conversation week to week at this point but all in all it's hard not to be extremely impressed with Ryan Day and the Buckeyes what' you see Dion uh will Howard and quinon junkins definitely heard me um and they probably hate me and I love that because I might be a buck guy I I mean Jeremiah Smith is the I said he was the best receiver in college football he's the best player in college football to me oh he is phenomenal he's phenomenal I might be a buck guy and so I kind of love that like I kind of love the idea of like the quarterback and running back just punching me in the mouth every week and just prove me wrong yeah I like that Julian Sayan by the way is also really good I think I said on the very first preview I was like how does Ohio State not have a freshman that could play over will Howard I was also wrong about that they do they're just choosing not to play him which I love like it's kind of like the arch Manning thing um so Ohio State's really really good this might be them and Georgia are the clear class of college football I'd say yeah now I couple things for me on this uh it's hard to draw anything too major of a conclusion in a 56 to zero football game but I don't think we learned a ton that we didn't already know we may have learned a little bit about the new faces which you just address like we we feel better about will Howard after this game than we did coming in we feel better about Quin Shan jins than we did coming in we know they have talent everywhere we feel better about Jeremiah Smith than anybody expected to all in all like this is definitely the most talented offense in the country to me and I don't think they're shabby defensively either but this is the best offense in college football and I think everyone needs to start expecting that on a week toe basis um but we also knew that that's the thing like I I don't feel like we learned anything from this performance uh and there was no way to learn anything Ohio State could have won this game 120 to nothing and we wouldn't be sitting here like we found out something new it's impressive what I did learn this weekend though I think is a really good conclusion that should excite Ohio State fans and it has nothing to do with Ohio State's team itself it has to do with a bunch of other teams Ohio State may see further down the line this season Ohio state is Head and Shoulders above every other team in the Big 10 and look they had the highest ranking coming in this season so that's not crazy but Oregon is nowhere near this team like if Ohio State goes and plays Boise State the way Oregon played Boise State last night Ohio State beats that team by four scores based on what I've seen with my eyes and Oregon now has struggled with Idaho they let Boise State Control most of this game like I that that is the other big dog we're supposed to be worried about Dan Lanning and his $20 million budget for nil transfers they do not look the part at all and Ohio State looks Stellar so then you're thinking okay let's go further down the list here Michigan could they back door no way they're in Hell they'll be lucky to scratch their way to six wins Penn State how are they doing oh [ __ ] they were in a one- score game against a Mac opponent this weekend uhoh that's not great like you have to stretch at this point Iowa just lost at to Iowa state Wisconsin couldn't even control a game against this Western Michigan team Ohio State beat by 60 so it's basically how good is Dylan riola five weeks from now or Ohio state is gonna blindly Cakewalk stumble their way to the Big 10 championship and I think it might be the easiest Big 10 Championship we've seen a team win in 20 plus years well I'm gonna present one argument and you know obviously expansion's really new I mean I don't think USC can touch Ohio state but I do think USC is pretty clearly the second best team in the Big 10 now um and I I think that's the only shot is if Miller Moss like is legit I think that's the only team that can touch Ohio State um what I did learn from this game is the first half against akan was an anomaly um I think that's kind of like what you can kind of take away like you you brought up Oregon they had the chance to prove the Idaho game was an anomaly they no that's this is Oregon now Ohio State second half dominated akan okay which which team is it it's clearly the second half team that showed up they dominated Western Michigan the way they dominated akan in the second half I mean you said it best there this is the best offense in college football if you would have asked me preseason I would have said their defense is better than the offense like that's how good this team is on both sides of the ball top three unit in the country in my opinion um and quite frankly I mean I'm not a big Devin Brown guy but like you you kind of look at team and you're like well what what is anyone going to do like what is UFC going to do if Miller Mo gets hurt I don't have the answer to that if Will Howard were to get hurt Ohio state has two guys I think could pick it up and they still win the Big 10 yeah yeah completely agree um it doesn't warm my heart to say this either like I I don't try to be like super biased ever when we say these things but like it's not fun to enter like I I had to deal with this for like 15 years growing up when Ohio State's just head and shoulders above everybody and you're trying to make an argument like well they could keep it close like at least the last couple years it was fun because Michigan and Ohio State felt like they were on par with each other and that made it interesting when they play each other even when Ohio state was losing they never felt out of the game or anything like that this year like if if they play a game that's within 10 points against anybody I'll be pretty shocked unless it's USC in the Big 10 championship game and maybe I'm getting ahead of myself but I think they deserve that based on what we've seen uh if you were a voter if you were voting in the AP poll coaches poll would you vote Ohio State one yeah that I think they're clearly above Georgia I mean I I say Georgia and Ohio State are top two teams but like when I say Georgia is up there with Ohio State it's firmly because of like what they the history of the last few years with Georgia right it's not because of anything they've shown the first two weeks in my opinion I thought they were underwhelming in both games but Ohio State hasn't been um G I do want to
