just about set and on the hill Ryan Nelson and singy we were talking earlier about how he's doing a great job navigating through tough spots I've just been so impressed with when it seems like there's more pressure he's more calm and settles in he's done an incredible job with runners in scoring position most guys they get a little tight they start to aim the baseball but for some reason he gets looser the ball comes out of his hand with more life and he's able to wiggle off the hook of you know tough situations and get his team back in the Dugout right through there for a strike and he chases that one one gone here and that's the first strike out of his major league career and it could be the first of many and he meets the goals he's set for himself and the expectations others have for him he doesn't want to just win games he wants to Dom at this level do you think Young pitchers could sometimes get too caught up in try to rack up GS early in their career Bo I think they can it's kind of like a hitter that doesn't have power The Thrill is still hitting a ball over the fence and so for a guy even if he doesn't have power stuff or strikeout stuff a strikeout is still something that makes him stick his chest out a little bit further just missed off the outside edge one out base is empty there's the strike up high and it's two and one really good cutter that he's able to front door and back door that pitch is devastating next offering is in for a [Applause] strike and another ball [Applause] and that's ball four four now a great back and forth and that it bad he had to lay off some really close pitches and somehow Boogie found a way to keep the bat on his shoulder right there I'll tell you right now I couldn't have done it trying to pick up his first knock get here and here is adolis Garcia looking for his first big league hit right here that one off the mark one and0 the last thing he wants is to hit the ball on the ground but I wouldn't expect many the best teams in the league when it comes to drawing walks Chris so we'll probably see a very patient approach from them yeah Boogie and that's often uh what leads to a lot of runs scored you get guys on base you work that pitch count up for the opposing pitchers and then you take advantage when they make mistakes you get into that bullpit you can tell that everyone up and down this lineup and in right there and typically if you're going to have a chance with the pitch if it's down that's your best chance of doing anything with it it's kind of like a mini slider just with a little less he's the designated hitter started after the 01 pitch and now a check down to First and he went say Larry B there's a swing and a drive McCarthy going back on this one hops over the wall and that's an pitches they're chasing outside of the strike zone you can't do much of anything with those locations and that's been true again today rander kick deals and there's a foul ball and as a pitcher when the hitters are swinging at everything you feel no need to challenge inside the zone you just keep working the corners and expanding that Strike Zone and Beyond and they just keep eating right out of your hand good late cut for the strike out there that thing really got in on him and you know the cutter isn't really a huge swinging Miss pitch most of the time because it's not really meant to move a whole lot you're just trying to miss the big part of the barrel and maybe weak contact but that one right there did a whole lot more than that that was a really good pitch here's Josh Bell there's a smart pitcher is going to play off of that especially when you get to two strikes swings and misses struck him out halfway through this one still no score back here in the desert bottom of the inning here's the third baseman aeno Suarez wi in the pitch inside just missed well these Diamond Backs just lacking discipline at the plate in this ball game chasing pitches has been a big part of the story we've seen it quite a bit today it's been tough for them to make contact at times and it just doesn't look like they're seeing it very well and the lead off H retired in the F next to hit for Arizona paven Smith and the first pitch misses for ball one and on the mound you know confidence has to be pretty high with all of the swings and misses he's had him eaten out of the palm of his hand pretty with a single so far you know this is kind of a tough matchup as a left-handed hitter facing a left-handed pitcher what you tell yourself is I want to stay Square to the plate try to hit the ball over outs and one in scoring position got him outside pitch got the better of him that time sometimes he wears the emotion on the sleeve but that's okay as long as he's getting results and right there shines yeah this guy lives for big moments and right there made a statement big time with a low 90s fast you have to live on the edges and hit your spot if you don't we'll get hit by really good swing the W to kick the pitch swing and a miss had him out front for the strike out I think he might have gotten away with one right there that was a very hit pitch right over the heart of the plate and I know that batter is kicking himself right now would like to get that pitch again just pulled the string on it and the deception gets him the K McCarthy in the box with two gone and takes a look at a called strike in the air right side Garcia makes the catch and that'll do it Dbacks at a pair on the Homer it's now a two nothing ball game it's Major League Baseball on the show and we're back and down inning don't give that other team any hope you just hope that he can get through this in get the bats back up there while they're hot well it's been a very impressive outing so far his command misses with that one well as a pitcher when you make a big pitch down around the knees and don't get the call it'll EAD at you out there so some handle it a little bit better than others and right here comes a pitch got him looking that's the first out the top of the seven well definitely a borderline pitch right there and he didn't look too convinced as he headed back to the thg out well those are tough ones that let go as a hitter but with the human umpire calling balls and Strikes it's always going to be on you to protect yourself with two strikes Josh Young stepping in for the Rangers already going to be a little nervous out there so I think it's a nice job by the skipper to get him in here without any added pressure with traffic on the bases now up next for Arizona paven Smith just [Applause] missed kicks sandal slider misses outside on the ground and that's just foul the pitch a little out front there as he swings through it going to really need to hang in there with that front side against this left-handed breaking ball just off the outside edge really good take especially with two strikes one run acrossing the frame so far here the bottom of the seven hanging in there pretty good against the Lefty the kick the 3-2 spoils the two strike pitch and he'll see [Applause] another left hand batter waights swing and a miss struck him out he battled for a long time be in Janowski the runner at first with two [Applause] gone out to Center McCarthy settles under it and that'll do it one left for Texas they Trail in this one three nothing on to the bottom of the now it's the right fielder Corbin Carrol Corin and he deal py measures 6' 2 in he features a four seam fast ball a slider a change up and he occasionally uses a curb and that one sliced foul the wi in the pitch that one not close and the count one and two in the air left side moving under it and it's caught for the out the batter number two short stop next to hit for Arizona haraldo Pomo this one popped up foul ground first Bas side low snags it for the second Out Boy that was a hanging breaking ball right there I think he tried to do a little bit too much sometimes those eyes can get really big I think his swing broke down as well and that's what caused him to pop it up two out space is empty and Jack Peterson stands in and there's the Strike wow no fair right there I mean that slider didn't move to the very last moment incredibly difficult to pick that up just kind of have to tip your cap on that pit this one popped up in position he's there he's got it and that will end the Garcia at third low at first one gone swing and a miss and it's nothing two good pitch right here he's going to try to make a pitch it's going to produce a strike out or a ground ball double play kicks and fires that's Off the Mark it's a BAL in two strikes man oh man I don't know how You' take that pitch that's as close as it gets next offering way off the plate at the belt and fires line
