what makes college football great yeah there's history and tradition right here right now there is tremendous intensity and bitterness on this field you can feel it as we'll see the number one team of the country the Miami Hurricanes taking on the 15th ranked team the Florida state seminal 3A sports college football I'm Chris fer here in the booth with Kirk KB Street I think we've talked long enough Kirk let's get this game going let's get it all right it was a day game too boys going to be loud so we got to be R andam it's early but this crowd is fired up listen to this noise here this is going to be tough for the visitors today offense will keep it on the ground here makes the defender Miss they tackle him at the 43 but that's enough for a first down well this back is running very well today and living up to so many great backs that they've had over the years at Miami Edan James and Frank Gore and Willis MC and Clinton pis all those guys guys won a lot of games and ran the ball well right now they got to be loving what they're seeing from this battle game moves the ball to the 43 first down coming up I don't know who's who someone on the line there moved a bit early gets a 5y penalty oh really the head coach will decide to accept the penalty and take the yardage first down play call coming up how aggressive will it [Applause] be and the quarterback dropping back here's a screen pass to the running back defense makes the tackle but that screen produces a pretty solid gain the Hurricanes will come to the line to crank up the tempo I love early in a game like this where you get the running back involved you just get his hands on the football also nice easy string gets the quarterback settled into the game nice easy throw look at this ends up being a huge play goes backwards losing three yards there boy this defense is stepping up here early in this game really controlling the line of scrimmage just nowhere to go on this last play now we've got a third down a big opportunity for this defense to get off the field shotgun formation here on third [Applause] down it's Johnson and he'll head out of bounds but not before picking up enough for a first down that's exactly what you want to see here from this offense thir down conversion offensive line did their job giving a quarterback enough time great read good execution throws the ball accurately I st right there at the line No Game No surise get these two team on the field and it's tight and competitive right to the Finish Well Chris the last time these two teams met remember came down to the wire the very final few minutes sure hope we get another one like that today throw it here on second down oh it's incomplete he was H some through that time and now third down coming out kind fine line here Chris for me when it comes to throwing the screen pass you don't want to throw too early obviously the defense reacts quickly and can sniff it out and you definitely don't want to throw it too late and potentially get sacked you got to make sure it hits just right for this play to work drops back needing a third down completion here completion of the tight end back their first drive of the game they're going to go for it on four down aggressive start the defense plays it pretty well Force the make the throw in front of you as a defense then you square up and make the tackle force them the stand lot of green out there running back has it on screen never had a chance tackled in the back field second down play coming up so the screen on first down is snuffed out nicely and now they're behind the sticks here yeah the offense tried to fool this defense by going the screen on first down but give the defense all the credit in the world they're not perfectly able to chase that down for matchups and the defense has countered over the years by trying to play out wide but here's a great example the defense has the ability to play wide but still be solid at the line of scrimmage not pass finds the tight end nowhere near well I think you need great leadership from the team sometimes teams don't handle the emotions of it and the game can get sideways on you the teams that play the a fresh set of down for this offense this crowd is trying to make a difference in this football game and cheering on their defense and that play right there will make everybody take a seat what a great job of converting here the kanes come to the line to set a fresh set of downs on first down it's play action he BR why can't you make that throw bro what is going on you know I I like the quarterback's patience here and instead of trying to issue and squeeze the ball into coverage he just decides to just basically throw it away and live for the next down here's the option play pit play going to throw for the first down that's real in little out quter sees that this defense is dropping way back in zone coverage so he does the right thing gets it underneath to that drag route and getting pressure on him this time they got to him and forced that incompletion throwing again on second and 10 and a short pitch and catch to the tight end but a huge cision delivered there by the the field let's see if he can keep that passing game going the last possession very efficient and precise oh good block oh good he's brought down get your ass upo wrong with you can open up the playbook for the play caller allow him to make that defense think they're going to run maybe play action maybe throw the ball down field he'll get the first down yards before they finally bring him down anytime you like to run the play successfully that means you're going to have to win the battle on the edges that means you seal the edge in order to let your back get to the corner they got it for they've been on their heels most of this football game that time they were to get after the quarterback and bring him down let's see if that can provide a bit of a spark see if they can get a little bit of momentum going their way what is this white get on my screen INE this game cheating what is that we finally see a change up from this defense it has been a long game for this defensive coordinator a lot of touchdown passes they finally find a way to affect the timing between the quarterback and his re receiver is by getting pressure and uses his speed to pick up solid yardage the offense will call a timeout that's their second of the half well this is great execution here on this screen play to the running back to pick up big yards in the first down and I think in the process Chris they send a message to the defense you can Rush our quarterback all you want but when you do you better be careful cuz we're going to throw the screen on it on First and 10 they'll look to throw it and he's going to stretch defense taking a deep shot disrespect touchdown hurc still no answer for this offense St disrespect that's his second touchdown of the day you talk about getting off to a great start he may have more in disrespecting my ti that ugly ass ball like and the Hurricanes offense retakes the [Applause] field looks like the QB is changing the play at the line looking to throw it on first down looking to scramble now he'll avoid the big hit in the slide and the canes hustle to the line to crank up the tempo well they did a good job get pressure on the quarterback but man make the play bring him down instead they give up positive yards here on the scramble hello that run good for a first down the offense still rolling they'll hand it off they stop him after a 6yd gain so second and four offense planking up the tempo now no huddle now they'll switch it up looking to throw the ball here and the pass is complete to the tight end and he's tackled but only after picking up a first down well this is called settling down in his own defense just kind of finding that soft spot so not only didn't show that he's got great athletic ability and great size here he shows he touchdown [ __ ] suck and here comes the Miami offense back out onto the field they're trying to recover from that last possession they had things going but then a pick six a devastating play they got to recover from that right now it's incomplete he was hit as he threw good pass rush there on first down well this quarterback's having one of those games you just dream about a lot of yards and a lot of touchdown passes and in fact he had hoping receivers again for another big play the defense finally got pressure on him or I think it would have been potentially another touchdown quick throw to his receiver it's pulled in completion on a diving catch tackle may but the sophomore quarterback showing us the arm strength and as we take a break to flip ends of the field let's take a quick look at the current national [Music] rankings so one final quarter to play it's going to take a lot to turn this game around but strange things do happen in college football back at at the start of the quarter offense getting set to RN a first down play on the run it's Johnson minimal gain brought down short of the marker see that's how you limit what an offense wants to do this time the defense just won the battle up front at the line of scrimmage not giving up any big plays everybody's Gap sound it's really solid defense on that play he's tackled just short on the Midfield line at the 49 I'm a fan of anytime you get the ball into his hands I think it's a win didn't go for a huge amount of yards but it's the threat of what it potentially can do and it gives him another opportunity to get his hands on the football over a Juke gets free now oh nothing but green brass ahead touchdown Miami and the route is on man what interception got it and the Hurricanes offense retakes the field the last possession was his old school Power Football let's see if they can keep that going here CJ the touchdown stretching the lead this you talk about the day open up all right the first play of the drive now the 25 this point they'll just try to run some clock here keeping it on the ground they'll move first down to the 42 what a shock right I mean this guy once again gets his hands on the football and great thing seems to happen he's over 120 yard on the day and it's really been a combination of his vision and speed along with really dominant offensive line play getting close to Midfield out of the 47 I know this defense worked very hard at halftime to come up with answers on how to try to slow down this running back after the big first half and he's already at it again on the here's the second down play [Applause] hand off to the left that's a nice wrap up there by the [Music] Jun offense trying to move into scoring position if they can convert third and short here from the [Applause] 50 they'll try to move the chams here on the ground they make the stop just short of the mar it's going to be fourth down and inches what so annoying about Tesla takes the hand off it's Johnson I [ __ ] with Tesla tackle made at the 41 that's first down yardage I can really appreciate this offensive coordinator not trying to just do something crazy you're less than a foot away from the first down line just punch it in and pick up the what they call here it works out the hurricanes look going to keep this drive rolling one back in the back field and he'll get the carry now Duke to man but not much room to maneuver stopped after a small game hey it's a great job of this defense containing the running game but if I'm calling the plays I'm not abandoning the running game just yet I think it's important to have some sense of balance so throwing in running is essential stick with it able to fight for a decent gain here running play just another example this offense Chris doing pretty much whatever they want to do they've been able to run the football offensive lines held their own in pass protection they [Applause] wide third and they'll try to throw bro why is this man way in the back field with me decides not to throw it and will take an enormous L on this the Hur will line up to it away bro why are you weighting a back fi with me BR this one will be fair caught well this one ended up being a blowout but if they get the W but they also make a pretty strong statement here today I thought this game would be a lot closer at least closer than how things
