just about set to go now and on the mound for Oakland in this one number 38 safe to say he's pretty stingy Chris well he's been a very dependable starter for his club and what stands out for me is that left-handed hitters have really struggle batting below 200 against him and it just tells me they have a hard time tracking the baseball maybe it's the release point maybe it's the motion but just some way somehow they've got to figure out a way to pick it up and try to have some success from the left side the pitch Parker Meadows leading things off and takes a [Music] strike that breaking ball is in for a strike and quickly it is nothing in [Applause] two and a pitch got him SW and that's the first strike out of his major league career and it could be the first of many if he meets the goals he set for himself and the expectations others have for him he doesn't want to just win games he wants to dominate at this level do you think Young pitchers can sometimes get too caught up in trying to rack up KS early in their career Bo I think they can it's kind of like a hitter that doesn't have power The Thrill is still hitting a ball over the fence and so for a guy even if he doesn't have power stuff or strikeout stuff a strike out is still something that makes him stick his chest out a little bit further one out base is empty late on that fast ball I think he was sitting off speed there swing and a highfly ball to left drops into the glove two down let's take a check of the Tigers lineup one guy leading the way offensively for this club right now Matt verling you know boo he really makes the most out of his skill sets leading the team in steals and on base percentage and you know you got sometimes a guy that can run really well but he doesn't get on base enough to utilize that potential as soon as this guy gets on first he's thinking about second and then third he's got the wheels to make that kind of stuff happen and really disrupt the ball game I love watching guys real quality starter for his club and coming into this one what stands out for me is that right-handed hitters have really struggled batting below 200 on the year it seems that they have a hard time picking up his release point and tracking the ball into the zone so we'll see how randers do against him in this one and now the DH Lawrence Butler trying to pick up his first knock in the big leags out good eye right there so a foul ball makes it one and two got him swinging and the runner holds well I don't think there's a hitter alive that hasn't at some point succumb to that pitch right there it just looks like it's in the zone the entire way then the Top Spin and gravity take over and the blink of an eye and it's just such a tough pitch to lay off of number 12 at the plate and takes High there this is one of those situations defensively where you can't try to do too much you got to make sure that you feel the ball cleanly and get one out first it's going to be tough to get two with hard and has to wait so long for this to happen and when it does can kind of be overwhelming boo you still have to stay locked in on the game but it's great when you could take a minute to just appreciate what you've done and how hard you worked to get here now here's the Detroit catcher Dylan dingler right through there for a [Applause] strike Young on third Sweeney over at first so one [Applause] away fought off foul and a pitch and that just misses keeps the back going with a foul ball Lefty out of the stretch Runners at first and third ground ball to the right side and foul ball fights that one away still one and two first and third one down bouns it off still one and two kicks sandal gets a piece there we'll do it again hammers that one deep left field and forget it he sends it out of here his first Homer of the year and they close the gap it's 75 this game just got a little more interesting with that home run well you can see he was out front just a little bit maybe didn't recognize the ch up earlier but he got the bat head to it hooked it down the line and was able to keep it fair for a long home run really impressive on the pitch now for Oakland Mason Miller a chance at his first save of the Year partner Meadows up now for the Tigers just off the outside edge one and0 one down base is empty and there's a strike one one so a foul ball makes it one and [Music] [Applause] two the pitch struck him out looking with the off speed stun well he's going to have some thinking to do when he leaves the ballpark after this one that was his third strike out and this one looking obviously so he's been a little overmatched he's got to find a way just to be more competitive up there at the plate so last chance for the Tigers and up next for Detroit Riley green
