just about ready to go and getting to start Jesus lazardo very solid starters able to repeat his mechanics on a consistent bases which allows him to move through a lineup and get deep into a ball game up now for Washington CJ Abrams [Applause] TJ Andy deals head to the Zone called a strike and we're off and rolling in Miami [Applause] and heel two hard grounder into the outfield for a knock solo Runner aboard to start the inning I'd say a stake pitch in an 02 count too good of a pitch to hit right there you have to expand the Zone keep that leadoff man off first [Music] [Applause] base here's Jesse Winker first pitch and he just misses left hand batter waights and now two and nothing Chris with that distraction and the Speedy guy at first he's in a favorable hitters count well if nothing else I mean this is a great spot for a hitter to be [Applause] in that to [Applause] right and there's one away as we take a look at the Nationals lineup someone who makes things happen for them in part with his legs Lane Thomas well boo you know I love guys that can run and this guy has great speed we'll see in this game if he gets a chance to use it and if he does I think even you are going to be really impressed because he can really impact the game with his wheels and you like guys that can score he's definitely do that lane Thomas that one down takes a strike Thomas 28 years old and he was a fifth round pick back in 2014 and here comes turned on but that's foul down the third [Applause] Baseline o and two now drilled out towards left center field that's well struck and that should be extra bases Abrams rounds third headed for the plate and they strike first as they take a one nothing lead safe he quickly went from hitter to base runner love when guys make that transition and he's got speed to put on a show [Applause] and now it's Luis [Applause] Garcia first pitch [Applause] misses inside just missed right through there for a [Applause] strike two balls at a strike here it comes L drive and that's just foul swings through that one it's a strike out well that right there is just a pitcher's pitch tailing away away from The Hitter blowing away with some good action at the end you know even if he gets the back to that ball it's probably just a weak ground ball to the opposite side tell you what that's a tremendous two- strike pitch Joey manessis getting ready to hit here's a guy who's been struggling so far this year it's only late April but still hoping he'll turn it around soon with a runner at third this is who they wanted to play he's so good at getting a run across in these [Applause] situations kicks and fires close one doesn't get the call two and0 and he pumps it a strike the pitch on the ground to Third and it goes just foul two outs spoils the two- strike pitch and he'll see [Applause] another two two now chases that one out of the zone that ends the inning and they limit the damage Nationals get a run courtesy of the RBI triple it's now one- other side but I'm excited to see what this rookie can do in this one bottom of the first Louisa rise stands in second as the Lefty gets to work wouldn't chase that [Applause] time and fouled [Applause] off leftand hitter Waits that one pulled foul hit connect on the curve ball struck him out he came out of his mechanics there typically likes to shoot the ball the other way but that time little anxious and now the DH Brian Del la Cruz and a good fast ball to start him off at strike one one out base is empty that one almost got him [Applause] [Music] [Applause] upstairs out to short Abrams fires across the diamond here tonight an efficient start to the home first two away and time now for the Marlins lineup already trailing by run in this one they'll be looking to get on the scoreboard early on as well well it's just the one run run so not too big a hill to climb but yeah if they can answer back in this inning or at least in the next couple that'll maybe settle everyone into this ball game and that includes their own starter on the mount Jazz Chisum Jr now o and one two down do on Now One in one I got one ball one strike [Applause] sliced hard but [Applause] foul two out space is empty liner to Second and picked on the Hop and it's a one two three inning and the Marlins down quietly they're down one nothing back here in Miami and now the catcher comes up to H Riley adamsy Adams lazardo back to work there's the strike of the knees well at that velocity if that's all you're seeing 88 you can handle that all day long that's what you get in batting practice but off the velocity of the fast ball that is a very tough pitch to adjust to and there's one [Applause] down ilaro Vargas will hit next [Applause] varas first pitch doesn't find the zone zardo certainly has electric stuff considered by me to be a strikeout pitcher he might not be at the top level in that category but strikeouts a big part of his game up the middle Dives but it's off his glove base head and he doesn't beat himself I mean he's going to throw strikes he's not going to issue many free passes and he's going to keep the ball in the ballpark now it's Nick senzel and ball one so when you look at that she's not completely preventing guys from hitting home runs but she's so consistent that you look up by the time she gives the ball over it's the sixth or seventh inning and there's one or two runs on the board at most SLA the other way foul Vargas the runner at first with one gone in the inning next pitch is outside that one back up the middle and it gets through they fired in quickly so it's first and second with only one away backto back singles really nice job staying up the Middle with his approach he didn't try to do too much with the pitch just shot it through the infield [Music] and here's the worky center fielder first offering misses badly for ball one though all eyes on the double play ball in this spot no better way to get out of this [Applause] inning and that one upstairs could be some action here on this next pitch couple Runners on probably a challenge pitch coming and now the Lefty here's a strike [Applause] [Applause] and another ball CJ Abrams in the onck circle Runners at first and second with one gone swing and a miss St him out couldn't hit the fast ball at the knees and Chris that's a way to neutralize his speed by keeping him off Bas and the defense breathes a sigh relief because he puts pressure on everyone if he can put the ball in play but that's how you do it keep him off balance get him out of there and deal with the next guy so the N lineup turns over here's CJ Abrams to hit gets the slider in there for a [Applause] strike here comes the old one fought off [Applause] foul two on two outs and a swing in a miss and that is that sometimes he wears the emotion on the sleeve but that's okay as long as he get results and right there thrilled with the punch out to get out of a jam [Applause] back here in low Depot Park and now the switch hitting first baseman Josh [Applause] Bell the wine of the pitch in for a St right and it's O and one getting a little frustrated with the strike zone late swing fouled off the wi in the pitch that one is absolutely belted back there and that one's Off the Wall now he turns and heads for second and it's a double their first hit in this one well a swing like that can help you come out of this struggle we saw the numbers coming into the ball game but all he's trying to do at this point is help his team win and now the right fielder Jesu Sanchez fouled off he was late [Applause] with the tying run at second bottom half of inning number two and that one fouled [Applause] [Music] off one ball in the dirt and an excellent job keeping it right there and that's outside and the count is even two and two now a highfly ball out to left Center he's under it puts it away for the out yeah that was a wasted RBI opportunity but competitor like him he is looking forward to make it up for it in his next here's Tim Anderson this is what stat nerds like myself might call a high leverage situation yeah P not sure what the numbers say but clearly an ADV bat that could change the course of this game dramatically and the first pitch misses for ball one well he's so great about hitting the ball the other way he gets those arms extended so right there just trying to straighten him up a little bit so he doesn't have as much out plate coverage aside to home plate duty is Ricky holiday and something I've heard players saying about Ricky strike zone is how he will call the high strike that could be something that's tough to deal with especially if you've got a pitcher out there coming at you with high velocity next offering is in for a strike two getting started and now up for Washington Jesse Winker you know this is kind of a tough matchup as a left-handed hitter facing a left-handed pitcher what you tell yourself is I want to stay Square to the plate try to hit the ball over the short Stop's head bottom of the zone and a called strike one's the count next offering is outside the pitch and there's a foul ball starting to go at the onew a check on it to Third and he held back according to Dave Lawrence the wi to kick the pit fights it off he'll see another here's the two two battling here as he fouls it away the two two and another ball he should get a pretty good pitch to hit here with three hole hitter coming up if he's wed [Applause] and he deals fouled off again and a remains three and two well that ball was hit pretty hard and sure had home run distance but you're the pitch out there on the mound you execute it just a long strike you go after him and finish him [Applause] off swing and a miss struck him out looks like he's picked up right where he left off so indecisive in that at bat he couldn't commit to the slider tried to sit in between just not able to put the bat on the ball here's Lane Thomas one for one he tripled in his first trip line drive caught it's never fun going back to the Dugout after hitting the line drive that finds a glove but you will get some high fives you know when you make great contact you feel like you've done everything right but in this game of baseball not everything is in your control Luis Garcia now at the plate struck out swinging his first time that misses the Zone one [Applause] and0 swing in a Miss as he was out front that time late swing fouled to the left two down nobody on we're here in the top half of inning number [Applause] three foul ball still a one and two [Applause] count here comes the pitch got it by him for the K Nationals go quietly but they still lead it one nothing bottom of the inning now the left fielder Nick Gordon the Lefty fires and that one missing low [Applause] [Music] [Applause] in the air pretty deep out to center field he's got it one away batting third basuel here's the third baseman Emmanuel [Applause] Rivera highfly ball shallow right field and there's two away now it's the Marlins catcher Nick forz that one's in there on one if I'm at the dish right now I am aggressive over the heart of the plate this guy's been filling up the strike zone so you know you makes the catch inning over and one two three gold to marins they still Trail one nothing and we're back as we go to the top of the fourth and here's the first baseman Joey menesses the pitch just missed well these gats doing a great job boo of just waiting for the right pitch to come their way and I'm seeing very patient bats out of him he's only given up one run but the starter's pitch count is starting to get up there and that might be the best news yet for this offense that one misses and it's two and one you know sometimes all it takes is getting to the next arm before an offense does any damage and that might be the case today two1 pitches in there and the count is even [Applause] and a pitch highfly ball out at the left center field pulls it in for the out now Riley Adams digging in for the Nationals he's over for [Applause] one and that one in the air center field under this one drops into the glove and there are two outs now ilaro Vargas digging in for the Nationals reached on an infield single this first [Applause] time hammered down the right side but foul now a screamer into the Outfield raay out and makes the play great diving catch to end the inning after the pitcher battles through a tough one that'll fire up the Dugout time to go hit [Applause] and welcome back to the ball bottom of the fourth now it's the Marin lead off hit Luis arise the pitch and immediately pumps in a strike to the left-handed hitter that pitch gets the inside corner and that is strike two looking to get the tying run on [Applause] base Cs and misses it's a strike out really love the pitch sequence right there I'm telling you what pitcher and catcher on the same page right now h [Music] now here is Brian Dela Cruz lifted in the air right center field sizing this one up he's got it and there's two down the centerel number two ja chis and up next for Miami Jazz Chisum Jr [Music] on the corner for a strike well he's been incredibly efficient in this one first pitch strike percentage over 70% that's well above League average and that's what's allowed him to pitch well up into this point field two now this is in the air down the line and that's a foul ball two outs and one and two two [Applause] and a curb misses outside well he might have to look for a different putaway pitch right here 2 two he's already seen the curveball couple of times in this at that so might have it timed up and ready for it inside almost got him smoked on the ground a second and the inning is over nothing doing for the marins they Trail here one- nothing ready now for the fifth inning now the third baseman Nick senzel senel and a pitch center field on the Move makes the catch for the [Applause] out the b the centerel Jacob and now the center fielder he struck out swinging in his first it [Applause] backat that's in there that's strike one bases empty one away and we're at the top of the fifth swings and misses that strike two good pitch right there tied him up on the hands if I'm out there on the bump I'm going right back in [Applause] there one down base is empty swings and misses picks up strikeout number seven dominating strikeout there on just three pitches and that's what a good power pitcher can do to you he's hitting his spots filling up the strike zone sometimes he bats over before it really begins Abrams in the box with two gone and takes a look at a called strike that one catches the corner just off the outside part of the plate it's a good [Applause] take the short stop takes the ball recognize that change up right out of the hand just spit on it [Applause] two down nobody on and that just misses wow this guy's really battling up there as if his run is the game-winning run I love his tenacity swings through that and it's a strike out and good work there as he gets a one two three nothing doing for Washington but they lead it one to nothing back here in Miami ready to go for the last half of the inning here's Josh Bell well these fans definitely want to get involved in the game all it's going to take is to get the lead off man or even a base runner on that's a little bit [Applause] low laser put the extra bases and the tying runs at second base with a double well that at bat had a lot of pressure riding on it so really great job coming through right there it's got to feel good got a fast ball middle of the plate jumped all over it absolutely smoked that ball and now a crucial opportunity to tie up this game with another base hit and at the play for Miami PES Sanchez 0 for one with a fly out to Center that one finds the Zone that's strike one a onrun lead last half of inning number five breaking ball inside and it's a ball on a strike curveball kind of backed up on him there I think it just slid out of the hand a little bit too [Applause] soon and another ball two ball one [Applause] strike swing and a high fly ball left field and there's one down the batter number seven Short Stop K and Anderson and now for the marins Tim Anderson and there's no doubt that they'll feed off the energy from this crowd right I mean yeah I'd say the intensity level has gone up a few notes for sure that one missed with the winning run at the plate here the home team trying to pull it out slice to right Fair ball around third here's the thrd of the plate but it's offline he will score such great concentration everybody on their feet knowing that you can come through with a good swing and there he doesn't try to do too [Applause] much one down runner at first here's the left fielder Nick Gordon in there for strike one and the pitch and fouled off the two strikes may see some movement over there at first base trying to stay out of the double play right here and here here comes and downstairs good spot there but didn't get the strike at the knees and doesn't seem too convinced by the call out there in the mound as he tries to get a better sense of the Umpire Strike [Applause] Zone keeps the back going with a foul [Applause] ball here's a one-w he swings and hits a Fly ball center field got it nice grab and there're two down now B the third ban [Music] Emmanuel so digging in Emmanuel Rivera in there for a strike at the top of the zone [Applause] slic the other way and foul at the belt and fires they take the force out that's the third out and we're headed to extras but they pick up one run on the RBI single all even at one a piece Major League Baseball is on the show back here in Lone Depot Park all right we go to the top half of inning number six up now for Washington Jesse Winker as the Lefty gets to work that misses and that's ball one the Extra Innings R placing R around second to begin the in was a big move for baseball in 2020 so Chris how has that change the way lined into right it gets down base hit and they get it in quickly first and third now with nobody out so they hold the runner at third wanting to play it safe think that comes back to bite him boy it's hard to say that run on second to start extras is critical and you want to make sure you don't waste him they don't score this inning there'll be some second guessing for sure go ahead run on base next to hit for the NS Lane Thomas ball one [Music] low Lefty out of the stretch Runners at first and third oh he doesn't get the call and the count is two and0 the pitch and another ball I think ultim Ely you want to tie him up get the ball in on the plate so that he can't get the barrel to it and hit it to the Outfield Luis Garcia in the on Deck [Applause] Circle kicks and fires it really looks like these hitters have been in between with their timing today good fast ball excellent slider but they've not been able to commit to one velocity and stay there [Applause] and that'll load the bases oh that sets up a really big at bat in this game these are the moments when everyone in the stadium gets really locked in Bas is loaded nobody out and now Luis Garcia golden opportunity right here first pitch misses the opportunity for a huge inning exists right here Bas has loaded nobody out but as a hitter can't be over anxious that pitch is up against the wall make him come to you base hit one run is in runner held it third and they'll be loaded again with nobody out with the bases Juiced he refused to get pole happy he stayed within himself drove the ball to center field that'll get across a run nager out of the Dugout now and it looks like we'll see a change on the mound Jesus lazardo Will depart and he kept them in it even though he's in line for the loss right now new arm when we come back so they turn things over to the righty Anthony Bender well no margin for error in terms of throwing strikes with the bases loaded just has to execute one pitch at a time to try to get out of this Joey manessis the next to hit known for his late inning heroics first pitch doesn't find the Zone in the infield at the corners don't be surprised to see them come home first and prevent that run from [Applause] scoring and the righty deals two balls no strikes to count pressure's on right here two count base is loaded you don't want to fall to a three ball count and then walk in or on he's got to challenge The Hitter right here two- line and that's a base hit one run in now a second crosses the plate and they're up by three big one there as he drives in a couple of runs nice job of driving that pitch the other way on a line you know hitters they take so many reps in the cages working on going to the opposite field and it doesn't always translate into the game but right there it did and he did it perfectly so Runners at the corners nobody out and here's the catcher Riley Adams that one at the knees for a strike you know these Nationals digging into their numbers have to be happy with the swings they're taking a handful have turned into outs but of the balls they put in play 10 have been line drives I say keep barreling the ball and good things will happen don't let that get you frustrated right-handed reliever foul ball it stays nothing in two righty delivers one ball two strike wouldn't chase that time great job of laying off those pitches down in the zone to even the count up at two and two such a better feeling for the hitter two2 now and there's a ball the Nationals trying to break this one open and we're the top half of the sixth swing and a pop off in foul ground catcher tosses The Mask settles under it and there's one [Applause] down ilaro Vargas digging in for the Nationals one for [Applause] two that's off the mark and it's w to know in this situation the Batters got to know what the pitcher's trying to do to him and that's trying to get him to hit the ball on the ground get two for one you got to look for something up in the zone at worst case scenario you deliver the sacrifice fly and a foul ball pretty good pitch to take a pass at and a one oh count just not able to square it [Applause] up swing and that ball smashed on the line it drops in gets away a little bit in comes the runner from third and they lead by four that's about as textbook as it gets got his stride and load out of the way early he stayed inside that ball and squared it up out front man that was like he was in the cage Hitting off a te so first and second with one man gone Nick senzel digging in for the Nationals that one finds the zone and that is strike one kicks and Deals Runners at first and second with one gone here an extra innings that one down the line that's a hit around third he'll score easily it's 61 couple of singles back to back he was definitely late on that pitch but he didn't get beat got the bat on playe and just kept his hands tight to shoot it down the first base line for the knock here's the center fielder who so for two with a pair of [Applause] strikeouts wouldn't chase that time rander kicks deals headed down the line and no one can get to it it's a foul ball and there's the strike well in this situation with a runner on first less than two outs some say hey get the ground ball double play with two strikes some people say get the strike out I think you just execute your pitch make the best pitch you possibly can and let the result be whatever it's going to be not in time he's safe [Applause] gets a piece and stays alive still only one out here in the [Applause] Inning on the ground the rise the throw to first now two away as they get a run across played that ball perfect and got the throw off across his body as well as anybody could have any slower and that was probably a hit so they turn things over to one of their young arms Ryan weathers he's having a ton of success facing left-handed hitters this season so this seems like a smart move to turn to him with a lefty at the plate and now here's the Nationals leadoff man CJ Abrams just missed senzel on third with two [Applause] out and that is in for a strike and the count is one and [Music] one and he hits a ground ball right side arise slings to First that'll end the inning after a lot of scoring they bring nine to the plate and six come around to score 91 and two scheduled to hit in the home half of the sixth it's the national seven and the Marlins won and we're back here's the catcher Nick fortez [Applause] Parker back to work pitch misses ball one you know these Marlins being a little too patient at the plate in this game they found themselves behind in the count quite a bit they're trying to be patient but it's mostly resulting in outs not base runners and you could argue it's making things more difficult at the pl that one spoiled and the count now two and [Applause] one right through there for a [Applause] strike just outside and that's ball three really good take especially with two strikes good job to fight that one off got him looking for the K wow that's a tough call for the hitter but the pitcher will take that all day long not quite in the strike zone but he found a spot that the Umpire is going to at least for now allow him to get that call so hitters are going to have to make an adjustment but pitchers are going to learn from those things and really try to exploit them if they can now it's the second baseman Luis Aras come backer to the mound two up two down up next for the Marlin the designated hitter Marlins down to their final out Brian Del La Cruz the next up for the Marlins [Applause] and there and it's own and [Applause] [Music] one grab ball up the middle Dives and he can't hang on sa fantastic effort but that extends the inning and up next for Miami Jazz Chisum Jr fouled back ourway and that's out of [Applause] Play One strike away and a swing and a miss and that is the ball game sometimes road trips can be tough you're away from your family but when you can win silence that opposing crowd it makes things just a little bit better makes the road trip just a little bit shorter and a 7-1 finish in
